A:Spybot error retrieving update info file

Isn't there anyone else having a problem connecting to the Spybot Search & destroy server??

I just downloaded the AllofMP3 Explorer and when I try to set it up I get this message: "Socket Error #11004"

The first time I tried the set up my Microsoft Anti Spyware popped up and I accidentally told it to block the action by AllofMP3 Explorer.

How do I get past this Socket Error and/or undo what I did with the antispyware?

I already tried unistalling the antispyware then running the AllofMP3 set up but that didn't work. Help

A:Socket error #11004

i googled and got:

http://www.bookmark-master.com/socket-error-11004.html

seems that it has to do with a hostname resolving wrong so maybe since oyu blocked it, it cant resolve some domain it needs for internet radio or something not really sure

How do I resolve the Socket Error # 11004 that appears every time I boot? It has a tile of Windows Update in the top of the error message. Is there something in the registry or internet connections I can fix?

A:Socket Error # 11004 appears every time I boot up

Hi 47DeerePuller and welcome to TSF !

When did the problem start ? Have you installed/uninstalled some program recently ?

Socket error (#11004): Valid name, no data of requested type

Go to the eventviewer : start => run => eventvwr.msc. Search the different sections there for that error (since it happens everytime you boot the computer you should be able to find it by looking at the date and time), double-click it and click on the third button on the right to copy the information then paste it here (right-click => paste). This will tell us which program is trying to access the internet.

That error can also happen if invalid DNS servers are used. If there's some mail client that checks your e-mails on startup then contact your internet or mail service provider or go on their website to know which servers you have to use and how to setup your mail client accordingly.

A:Spybot "Error retrieving Update file" HELP!!

The problems with ISP/Error Retrieving Update issues has now been fixed. The problem produces the Ad-Aware SE warning: "Error retrieving updates" when performing a webupdate. It interrupts at 5% download completion .( If your update stalls at another point than at 5 %, your problem stems from another issue.See http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=1336 )http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=8253If your not having the problem described above, then you do no have to do anything.

A:Fix For Ad-aware Se Users With Isp/error Retrieving Update Issues

I've been having that problem too, but it seems to be fixed. My work-around was simply going to their site, download the update file, then put it in the Ad-Aware folder. When I load it up, it updates it to the newer file definitions.[Update]I just now did an update on two computers, and I am now seeing something very unsettling, in a way.I use PeerGuardian 2, and I've used it for about 2 years now, and I've been using Ad-Aware for a bit longer, and now when I check for updates, and then begin to download the updates, my PeerGuardian 2 is blocking Google Inc from connecting to the destination ip address 72.14.253.91:80. And it is indeed coming from using the Ad-Aware update. No doubt or question about that part. And a fact is, Google was never reported/blocked whenever I updated the Ad-Aware... but now it does. And it's blocking Microsoft Corp from connecting to ip address 207.46.28.93:1863And it's blocking Microsoft Corp from connecting to HTTP ip address 65.54.227.143:3544[Another Update]The ip addresses are indeed Google Inc. & Microsoft CorpMy PeerGuardian 2 blocked their connections, and still I got the updates I needed. I'm going to have some partners of mine investigate this.I've used both programs long enough to know what will get blocked, if any, when I update a program, and those blocks were never ever being blocked when updating Ad-Aware.I'll definitely have to research this more.

I'm running Windows 7 Pro on my Dell laptop. This laptop has been in storage and hasn't been turned on in a year. Originally, all I wanted to do was use iTunes. The problem:

It made me update it in order to use it, but I got an error.

I un-installed it and tried downloading a fresh copy and I get the following error:
After some Googling, I read that not having the latest Windows .NET framework might be the problem. Sounded reasonable so I fired up Windows Update but that gave me an error and wouldn't start checking for updates.

I managed to get it to check for updates, but now when it starts the process, I get the following:
I Googled the error code "8007007E" and tried a few things to try and fix it.

I downloaded the windowsupdatediagnostic.diagcab, found on Microsoft's site, here:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/troubleshoot-problems-installing-updates#1TC=windows-7
I tried resetting the Windows Update reset tool, using "MicrosoftFixit50202", found here:http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9665683
I download the system readiness tool, found here:https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3132
I tried a clean boot.

I tried renaming the Windows Update Softwaredistribution folder.

None of this worked.

I ran the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) and the results said I had bad files, but I don't know how to fix them. It generated a CBS log, which is too large for me to post (10MB) , so I've uploaded to dropbox,... Read more

Here is the requested log info for my Windows Update Error Code 80070643:

1. CBS.zip: the logs after running the SURT tool. This routine ran in just a few minutes and asked to install HotFix KB94781. It said the installation was completed OK.

2. SFC.log.zip : the CBS.log file after running SFC /scannow. This said it found some corrupt files but could not fix them all. Note that a long time ago I deleted the standard/sample media files (photos & music) that get installed with Win7.

3. Capture.JPG: screenshot of the the error messages I get when trying to install the Office 2010 SP2 update. Note that I did reboot just before running this update.

I'm still considering de-installing Office 2010 and then re-installing from an updated SP2 download - if I can find that. My concern is what imapact doing this will have on the sieze of WINSXS & INstaller folders.

Okay I am at wits end.

When I hit send and receive all 3 accounts the User has setup fails to receive anything.

I get the following error -

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'XXXXX', Server: 'XXXXXX', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Now I read a TON of web pages prior to posting so please make sure to read what I have tried before posting a thought on the fix -

I tried everything on this KB - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;813514 except OE reinstall because this is a PC that has OE integrated and to be honest I can't get the account info if I have to wipe it and reload it for another week (but it has to be fixed now)

Basically I have tried the following -
1)Uninstalled AV - No change (even the same socket error number and standard error number).
2) Made a new identity - No change
3) Changed time delay for getting emails up to 5 mins - No change
4) Uninstalled Firewall - No change (even windows firewall is disabled)
5) Checked MTU (it was right also wasn't really thought of as the culprit because all other PC's on the same network get their emails just fine.
6) Tried a system restore but that seems to be fubar as well and none of my old restore points work.

I did do a Hijack This, Ad-Aware, Spybot, Ewido and more scan no prob... Read more

Hi, I have looked at all the different discussion threads and tried almost every single suggestion made but still have'nt had any luck so far.
I can receive email but can't send any. What triggered this error is that, I recently moved from London to New York and I am now using a different ISP to connect to the internet. But my old setting should work (since it has worked in the past when I logged in from hotel or other locations using different ISPs.)

I have tried changing the port numbers etc, but I keep getting back this error message.

"The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Test', Account: 'O2 Email', Server: 'smtp.o2.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

You must go to the website of the new email provider to get the correct settings. Not just port numbers but all other settings as well.

Socket error 10065 from Outlook Express
Hi, for the last few days we have been receiving "The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'Joint French', Server: 'pop.orange.fr', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10065, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E" from Outlook Express.

I have :
- run a full Norton system scan - no viruses found
- run a disc cleanup via Start programs, accessories, system tools, disc cleanup
- run a Norton registry cleanup - same problem
- tried uninstalling Outlook and then found a posting that says you cant physically uninstall and reinstall outlook

Google chrome is working ok and I can get to the messages via Chrome but am having no luck getting outlook to send and receive mail.

Internet search implies it may be a broekn registry entry but is there a recommended registry cleanup took and/or can you suggest anything else I can try?

Much appreciated

A:Solved: Socket Error: 10065, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Just for completeness - I found the cause of the error was nothing to do with ports. We use an application called Peerblock which prevent our PC sending information to third parties (telecoms companies, educations institutions, etc.) This uses lists from www.iblocklist.com and one list in particular (the bogon list) would seem to contain an IP address which conflicts with a combination of Orange.fr and Outlook express requirements and so prevents Outlook working.

I am unable to send through my msn account; which is a drag to forward something that came in that mailbox. I get the error: Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E. This error does not happen when I am forwarding or sending in one of my other email addresses. The solution that I have seen posted states it is a problem when you have "call waiting" on your line. Since my puter is on the same cable as my phone, I need to have phone usage, call waiting, and puter use all at the same time. This has been an on and off issue since Windows Live took over my old Outlook Express. Without moving messages from the msn account to another email, is there a better way?

A:Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E usually means there is a problem connecting to the server or the connection is timing out.
You can try to ping your SMTP server.
Go to start - run - type "ping MSN smtp SERVER" (where MSN smtp SERVER is your smtp server you are using in outlook express for your MSN account).
Let me know if you get a reply or not.

Your firewall (if you have one) might also be interfering? Try turning them off temporarily.
You might be using the wrong port to send emails?
Lastly you have to authenticate to the SMTP server and you might not be doing that?

I keep receiving Windows Socket Error 10055. It happens sparatically, but two things that I've noticed it happens with is while running:

Replay-Radio 6
nzb-o-matic

The error occurs even when those aren't running (but replay-radio is usually running in the background). I just uninstalled the program after receiving a TRSDKd error.

In addition to that error, I have been receiving Application Errors for various programs. It usually goes like this:

The instruction at "0x012220a7" referenced memory at "0x01260b30". The memory could not be "written". Click on OK to terminate the program

Then it closes down something that I didn't even know was running.

Any thoughts? I know this is very vague, but anything that can help would be greatly appreciated.

I am able to view video in this program, but am unable to send or receive pictures. I properly opened the correct ports on the router homepage. I am hooked to the net via a Lynksys router. If two computers are liked in one household to a wireless router, is it possible to see, if you log in through the router, all the websites that those computers have visited? Kind of like a history?

A:Retrieving info from router?

If your router has that kind of logging capability, yes. But depending on the traffic being generated on your network, it may or may not be able to keep a long history of website hits as the buffer memory on most routers is relatively limited.

I use POP3 accounts in Thunderbird for my emails. These are the same accounts I use on my older Windows 7 laptops, but on the new Toshiba Windows 8.1 laptop I frequently get errors that the server was reset when retrieving my emails. Never happens while browsing the web. Everything else is the same: same home wlan, same router, same accounts, same thunderbird. So it has to be something to do with 8.1 or the network adapters on the new laptop. The network adapters are Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller (VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter installed by VirtualBox) Windows says I have the latest drivers. Any suggestions? I'm not good at network troubleshooting. Thank you.

A:Server reset error when retrieving email

I do not know why you are going that deep on troubleshooting. The adapters would have nothing to do with this. It helps to know if you are trying from the Desktop or Metro/Start interface. Also a Server reset can happen on the other end, not necessarily on your end.

The error usually occurs if you installed Windows without activating it, and more than 30 days have passed since. If you have your install CD you can do a Repair Install. If done properly it will retain your programs and data.

I have one of three computers where I cannot send mail from my charter.net account on Outlook Express 6 running under Win XP Pro with all current updates and service packs installed. I receive a 421 Error any time I try to send. I have tried importing settings from both other computers that have no problem sending mail from my charter.net email account. All 3 computers use the same ISP and router. I deliberately have no firewall software, AV, or anti-malware software installed on purpose due to issues with business apps I use. (Please don't lecture me on those choices if you choose to respond). This inability to send is relatively recent, but I can't correlate it to anything in particular. I have basically the same programs installed on all 3 machines, they are used in a SOHO environment. Also, I have tried using Microsoft Outlook and Thunderbird on that machine. They do not send mail either. I've checked other message boards, and no one seems to have a definitive answer to the question. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

A:Outlook Express 6 421 Error Retrieving Mail

List of SMTP Server Response Codes:
421 - The service is not available and the connection will be closed.

Individual numbers in the error code:
4: The server has encountered a temporary failure. If the command is repeated without any change, it might be completed. Mail servers can use such temporary failures to keep untrusted senders at bay.
2: Refers to the connection status.
1. This last number is even more specific and shows more graduations of the mail transfer status. This leads us to the detailed list of ESMTP server response codes, as laid down in RFC 821 and later extensions.

Source: http://email.about.com/cs/standards/a/smtp_error_code.htm

You need to contact your ISP. The fact that other mail programs can't send successfully either puts it in the hands of the email servers.

Hi,
Windows XP Home
MSN Premium 1.10
OE6
Firefox 1.0.7
Verizon DSL

I rarely use the MSN browser (Firefox instead) and on occasion when I open my Outlook Express to check my mail and find spam that I wish to "block sender" I open MSN to perform this task. I have two MSN hotmail accounts.

I wanted to do this this morning and upon opening MSN>Mail & More, discovered that instead of retrieving the mail as it usually does I received this popup:

The same in both accounts (one popup might say "MSN5.mailhost" while another in the other account might say "MSN7.mailhost").

I was able to open my Outlook Express without any problem and it retrieved all mail from
the servers without any problem or errors.

Not sure what to do next. My computer is otherwise healthy with frequent Spybot, Ad-aware, etc. scans being performed on a regular basis.

In fact, I just ran new scans with nothing malicious being found.

NOTE: also performed a System Restore to about a week ago and
still get the Mailhost error when I try to retrieve mail in MSN.

Thanks for any help.

A:Solved: Mailhost error retrieving MSN mail

While doing my own trouble-shooting to find a solution to the Mailhost error, I did a Google Search for "MSN mailhost error" and this was the first recommended: How do I solve an MSN MAILHOST problem? and followed the advice to:

* Click on the Start menu button.
* Select Run from the Start menu.
* In the dialog box type:
regsvr32 c:\progra~1\msn\msncorefiles\mailui.dll

"This command registers the mailui.dll file with the Windows system and should solve the problem. If you are signed into MSN, sign out and then sign back in. Once you do sign back in MSN Mail should now work again."

Well, when I opened the MSN Explorer and clicked on Mail & More my mail was retrieved and all seems to be ok in both accounts.

Perhaps this will help someone else having the same problem.

I can't seem to be able to mark this thread as "Solved".
When I click to open Thread Tools the window flashes briefly and I am taken to the bottom of the thread with no where to mark "Solved".
(This has happened on previous threads also). :?

I have an Optiplex 9010 AIO. This morning I was trying to update the BIOS of my system, from A10 to A13. During the update process it showed an error: "ME FW Update Failed: Internal error: FWU_Buffer " - please see the photo below. Although the update failed on the Management Engine part, it still boots up and running OK. I tried couple of times to update the BIOS, and each time I got the same error. I tried to flash the A12 and A11 BIOS as well, A12 gives same error, and A11 has the same Management Engine version hence no use.

I have a computer were the drivers more or less magically disappeared off my comp well while trying to trouble shoot the issue trying to figure out how they disappeared I was reinstalling them but it just didn't want to recognize them. So I tried to roll it back to a time when I know the drivers are installed. So I find a proper time and roll it back. But now windows wants me to activate windows again. So I call them thinking no big deal really. Well the code it gives me and they give me doesn't work and says incorrect key. Windows says they cant help me call manufacturer., Well that doesn't work cause all they are gonna say is it is out of warranty. So my question is how can I retrieve my information off my hard drive or make it go back to before roll back so it doesnt ask me or something the information on that hard drive is very crucial for certain things.

So my dad has a laptop (Toshiba satellite p100 pspadc-ma305c) that my brother has setup an account for his business work, solely for 3-4 programs. Everything else is restricted, from right clicking to viewing any type of files, folders, drives etc... All admin access is only known to my brother.
Being an old laptop maybe it's time has come to an end. The screen of the laptop is half wrecked, there's big and small stripes all across the screen although it's fine if you use an external monitor. The laptop keeps shutting down quite often when using (according to what my dad said since it has to be on the whole day during his work hours).
It's been days and my brother has ignored to help see to it and fix it and my dad needs it for work, so my dad might plan to buy a new computer and wants to transfer personal data to the new comp. Having absolutely no access (safe mode locked as well), I have no idea how to save the invoice data for keeps if a full re-install of windows would be needed.
Is there a way to work around this or would bringing the computer to like Best Buy for service would be a good idea?

A:Tight spot for retrieving personal info.

Well, there are a couple of options if the hard drive is still functioning properly.

1) If you just need to pull documents, pics, videos, etc of the drive. You can remove the hard drive and use a SATA to USB adapter to plug into another computer and backup the necessary files. Here is an example of the device I'm referring to: Amazon.com : Vantec CB-ISATAU2 SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter Supports 2.5-Inch, 3.5-Inch, 5.25-Inch Hard Disk Drives (Black) : Computer Cables & Interconnects : Electronics

2) if you need to access to the programs that were being used. Using the same device as above you can create a virtual machine from the hard drive, this will allow you to use the OS as it was before on another computer. This is an easy to follow guide on how to do that (i believe to view the site you have to create a free account): Reviving a dead PC with physical-to-virtual conversion

Hopefully this helps. I'm sure there are other ways and I'm sure other members will chime in.

By moving the Access database to a machine that is not currently showing the problem, I have been able to prove that it is not the Access db causing the problem - something I previously suspected as machines with Windows Update turned off or those that have been moved back to 8.0 (plus those running earlier versions of Windows) display the GIF files correctly in Access.

The error message we are getting is;-
?2114 <program name> doesn?t support the format of the file ?d:\PF_Sign\M11_V2846.gif,? or the file is too large. Try converting the file to BMP or GIF format.?
where M11_V2846.gif is a variable file name which links to the Image frame on the current report page. All the files are very small (normally not more than 5kb) and are already in a gif format (they are an image version of an INK signature created using a standard utility on tablet machines).

If the GIF file is viewed outside of MS Access, it is displayed without a problem.

The problem is:-

Do you have a little box called Lanfiltrator?
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/backdoor.lanfiltrator.html

STEP1
Run a virus scan from http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_frame.asp

STEP2
If no virus is found, then do the following:

1. Run the tool msconfig.exe (winXP)
2. Goto the Startup tab, and click the Disable All button.
3. Goto the Services tab, click to check "Hide All Microsoft Services" and
click the Disable All button.
4. Click Ok to exit and reboot your machine.

Check to see if this resolves the problem in Normal Mode. If you can, then the cause is among the disabled startup programs and services. Enable them one by one to find it.

Just thought I'd post this as a help to those who may run into this problem. Had a customer who simply could not get on the internet (running XP with cable connection). Here's what I did in an attempt to solve the issue, all to no avail:

1. Uninstalled all garbage applications in Add/Remove programs
2. Ran Adaware 6.181 (found lots o'baloney)
3. Installed and ran Antivir antivirus; found Worm/Sorbig.A
4. Ran Spybot S&D (found even MORE junk)
5. Deleted all temp files on comp.

At my wits end, called his cable provider. We first completely unplugged his modem, then attempted "ipconfiig /release" and "ipconfig /renew". This is the error received:

Operation Was Attempted on something that is not a Socket

Tech guy on other end said to look at MICROSOFT KNOWLEDGE BASE ARTICLE 318584 for the fix. I have to return to the customer's location today, but essentially it involves a Winsock error in XP, and that's what's causing the "no internet" problem. So remember that 318584 KB article the next time you run into this.

A:(FYI) Operation...Not a Socket Error

Uh, well, no, this did NOT fix the problem. After spending several hours going round and round with Adaware, Spybot and Hijack This, along with several alledged XP TCP/IP fixes posted in several different locations here, we've decided on a clean install of XP. Ya know, it's just too bad that Windows doesn't let you uninstall then reinstall TCP/IP. Would probably save a lot o' headaches.

Hi

I have changed ISPs recently and the new one has limited international bandwidth. Somehow I can browse sites overseas, but I can not retrieve mail (socket error).

I can access the same mail via a web interface, and downloading the mail from there does not time out or anything, although it is slow, and a tedious process to deliver it to the correct recipient in the office. There are several aliases set up in a single pop3 account.

I would rather use pop3 to retireve the mail. I have tried changing the timeout from 1 minute to 5 minutes, and some e-mails have been downloaded. But I still get socket errors, especially when downloading the larger mails. I was wondering if there are any other tweaks I can try.

Best regards,

Seems like off and on the last week or so, I've had problems with Outlook Express hanging.
I use AVG...and right now when checking e-mail it timed out so I stopped Outlook Express, but I see the AVG e-mail scanner icon is still going around on the desktop.
Sometimes the mail hangs up in transmission, it seems, even if no attachments.
Then today I got the socket error 10061.

A:Socket Error: 10061

Socket error 10061 is a Connection Refused error sent to you by the server. You could not make a connection because the target machine actively refused it. The most common cause is a misconfigured server, full server, or incorrect Port specified by the client.

Try to change your SMTP port from 25 to 587.

Apologies if someone has already answered this but I have a problem that started recently.

I have Norton Internet Security 2006 installed on a Windows XP Home SP 2 PC. I'm using Outlook Express to read e-mail.

Until recently, no problems.

However, these days, when I open OE, I get a socket error 10061 trying to access my POP3 mail server. If I reboot the machine and re-log into windows, the error goes away. as soon as I log off and then log back in, the error is back.

I've restarted my machine in safe mode with networking and have not been able to reproduce the problem under those conditions.

At this point in time, I suspect something with Norton. I did do a recent LiveUpdate session in which a number of Norton items were updated.

Does anyone have any input on this? What can I do to resolve this (Norton Support portal on their website was no help)?

This is posted in software as well. Nobody there seemed to be able to help. I don't think it the software I am using causing this problem. Sorry for double posting.

I am trying to upload my web site via FTP. I have set up as detailed by ISP. Have talked to a "Tech" (RIGHT!) at ISP who knew less than I do.
When I try to connect I get the error "Socket error = #10061" It says I can't connect to remote server. I have disabled any and all firewalls, even in Windows. I set my internet security as low as she goes. I have even tried 3 different ftp programs all with the same results.

A:Webpages not loading.Socket error

read it ALL first

To protect your computer from old system files, Microsoft created a special service that is built into the operating system. This service monitors your system files, and if one is replaced or deleted, ICS will automatically restore the system file.

SFC works in conjunction with a utility called Windows File Protection that keeps the system file cache: (%Systemroot%\System32\Dllcache) uppdated with the newest Microsoft Approved files as they are installed on your system. I prefer to use the system backup for the ability to roll back to a former configuration however.

To manually invoke the system file checker, be sure you have administrative access then go to the command prompt and type:

sfc /scannow

The system will immediately begin to check all the current system files and restore the cached approved copies. You may be asked to insert the Windows CD as well during the restore.

Clue: Keep in mind that after you perform a system file restore you should install the newest service pack so you are running the most current, Microsoft approved system files.

For you XP users, SFC should be used as a last resort. If you have been creating system restore points, first roll back to your latest restore point and see if that fixes your problem.

the connection to the server has failed. account:'mail.onewest.net' , server:'relay.onewest.net' protocol: smtp, port: 25, secure(ssl) No, socket error: 10060, error number: 0x800cccoe
i tired all sorts of stuff with my isp provides tech support and nothing worked. any suggestions?

A:[RESOLVED]socket error 10060

10060 is a Connection Time-out error that usually appears when the client does not receive a response from the server for a specific command.

Here are things to try

1. The Outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication.
If you are using Outlook Express you should check the box 'My server requires authentication'.

2. If you are behind a firewall, we may be unable to authenticate you.
If you have a personal firewall, try lowering the security or disabling it to see if it is causing the issue.
(Remember to re-enable it after testing)

3. Your SMTP (outgoing mail server) could be blocked.
Here is how to test it:
A. Go to Start -> Run -> type: cmd
B. When the Command prompt appears type: telnet smtp.gct21.net 25
(include the spaces exactly as shown above)

C. Wait a few seconds. You should see the following: '220 mail4.gct21.net ESMTP'. This means that it is not blocked.
D. If you do not see this message, your SMTP is being blocked.

Let me explain as to whats happening'.We have an application which is basically a
MIS system. The application works fine on the lease line connections of our client.
However in remote areas, there is no lease line connection.Hence for accessing the
Intranet and Internet, we use a VSAT(very small aperture terminal) connection.
The network admin of the company use a different Ip address than the one given to
the lease lines.i.e if on lease lines,we use the address A.B.C.D,for the VSat connection
,we use X.Y.Z.K for branches having a VSat connection.
We get the login screen for the application on the remote branches
However when we enter the Username and password,it throws out an error.
The error is pasted below:---

Hello, we are operating a unix based business application over a network. We were using tiny term to emulate the application to the users. We recently switched some of the users to a windows GUI to make the program more user friendly. One of the users keeps getting an error and has to reboot the pc to make a new connection. The error he is receiving is Socket Error:10054. When he reboots it restablishes the connection but if he leaves the application idle for about an hour he receives the error again. I have no idea what to do!! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A:Socket error 10054 over network

Is he getting this error within windows or within Tiny Term? Is this disconnection occuring when he leaves the whole system idle or is this just when he is idle with Tiny Term? Have you checked his Windows settings vs another user who is not haveing the problem and ensured all specs have the same information i.e. all TCP/IP configuration, all adapter configuration and whatnot?

What are your comp specs? (processor, ram, harddrive, etc.)

How long ago did this problem start? Do you remember if you did anything to your computer (like install/uninstall software, add or remove hardware, etc.) immediately prior to the error first occurring?

TTUSBBGMONITOR appears to be a file that is part of TalkTalk Wireless USB Adapter Utility. When did you install this program on your computer? Is it compatible with 64-bit?

What is the *exact* error message?

Please give us a little more information as it would make it much easier to help you.

Mollie

I keep receiving the following error message when attempting to download files off the internet.

"Error in socket driver memory dump (00A0B000X2F) No Access

Services.exe (blocked?)
Make sure that services.exe can connect to the internet.

I have turned off my antivirus application and my firewall is not blocking anything but I keep receiving the error. Is it my Internet Service Provider? I need desperately to get this resolved so I can download some software for school (such as Java SDK, Textpad, etc.). Please someone help.

When I'm using a real estate program I own, I get a message that says: "Telnet Error 24060, Socket Operation Timed out." I tried another computer and it has the same error message. I'm thinking it has something to do with my Motorola Surfboard Cable Modem SB4200. I also tried to connect to telnet manually which wouldn't work also. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot in advance

I am at a lost. I've been avoiding updating the SP1 for months. Today, I finally decided to figure out the issue. I have run the Update Troubleshooter. The Readiness tool and checksur.

I'm getting the error code: 80073712
I found out that means the Component Store is corrupt.

Here is the CBS file:

Attachment 258339

The CheckSUR says I am missing:
(f) CSI Payload File Missing 0x00000000 efisys.bin amd64_microsoft-windows-b..ironment-dvd-efisys_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_c0c6eceaf97c4827
(f) CSI Payload File Missing 0x00000000 System.Data.Services.Design.dll x86_netfx35linq-system.data.services.design_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_fbd7ac850c4fad9b

I am lost as to how to find those files and how to fix the corruption. My Windows 7 was installed when I purchased the laptop. I'm sure I have a backup disk somewhere, but I would have to find it. I would prefer not to have to install or reinstall if it is possible to fix it.

I appreciate any help.

After starting the Lenovo Solution center V3.3.003 it doen't show the serial numbers etc. of the machine. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.
Is there another way to find out these numbers, except form crawling on the ground in a dark area with a lamp and a magnifier to determine the small print on the labels attached to the machine?

I tried to get rid of some malware on my computer running XP and afterwards, I can't connect to the Internet. I can ping Google ok and the home network connects to the three computer I have, all of which can connect ok to the Internet except mine.

My Eudora cites an error "Error getting a network socket". Sam Spade pings Google ok but the IP Block check returns "Failed to Open Socket"

The malware was "Downloader" which I think I got rid of with SDFix. But there remains a file in Windows\System32 called MMCHOST.dll that SDFix could not delete. I wonder if it's part of Downloader and is the cause of the Internet connection problem?

I also disconnected XP's firewall but that had no effect. I run Norton AV and before SDFix it showed a notice that I had Downloader which it couldn't fix but after SDFix, that notice no longer comes up.

Any idea anyone?

Hi! I don't know if this is specifically a Vista problem or not, so I am posting here.

Here is where I am at:

I am trying to get my XBox to share my laptop's internet connection. I know that this is possible because I have done it before, from this very laptop, with this very Vista os on it. Now, I am unable to checkmark "Allow other users..." for sharing etc. I get the error that Internet Connection Sharing failed because "the dependency service or group failed to start."

Well I found out that it was dependent on the service "Remote Access Auto Connection Manager", so I tried to start that. (It is also dependent on Telephony, but that is running). Same error. I find out that THAT is dependent on "Remote Access Connection Manager". When I try to start THAT, I get the same error. It is dependent on "Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol Service", which is not dependent on anything. When I try to get THAT service to start, I always get the error 1717: Interface is unknown.

I have been trying for 3 days to fix this. I am ready to throw Vista out of the Window & reinstall XP, seriously. The only suggested solution I have found so far is to do a clean start-up. I have done this, & am still not able to get these certain services running. These are my last-ditch efforts, & then Vista is gone for good for me. I have done wayyyy too much troubleshooting on this os. I have been searching & searching & there... Read more

Failure to connect to VPN per the error below from the log...

"Set socket to non-blocking mode failed: An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket. (errno=10038)"

Support at VPN vendor suggests that a Windows repair is needed but have no disk as bought the HDD from a repair facility that lost their lease and cannot be located.

Should add that I have had a couple of blue screens lately and have run chkdsk /f and tried to do a system restore but all restore points are gone, even though I had several previously.

Sure hope there is good news somewhere.

Thanks!

A:Solved: Window 7 socket error during vpn handshake

Does anybody know if I can use any Win 7 disk to repair my OS or does the disk have to match my installation key? Does Microsoft offer any way to obtain a disk for Genuine installations? Any chance that Windows Update will notice the anomaly and provide a fix? You can see by these questions how desperate I am.
