Using these tools in Safe Mode I deleted a lot of files that either don't matter at the moment or seemed suspicious. This has allowed me to start the system in normal mode. If I now restart the system again I will get the Blue screen again and have to go into Safe mode and run Hijack this, clear out some files and restart the system again.A variety of known spoof anti Malware programmes have been auto downloaded - Kill Box removed them. Please Note: Only: HJThis, Silentrunners and Killbox appear to run 100% correctly. Thanks in advance.Graham C Williams.P.S. KP zip is not running correctly so Attach.TXT has been uploaded in its native form - sorry.AVG 8.5 Anti-Virus command line scannerCopyright ? 1992 - 2009 AVG TechnologiesProgram version 8.0.300, engine 8.0.339Virus Database: Version 270.12.42/2137 2009-05-27\\?\globalroot\systemroot\system32\UACyxpedhiqhxdulhn.dll Virus found Win32/Cryptor Object was moved to Virus Vault.C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\svchost.exe (1444) Virus found Win32/Cryptor Object was moved to Virus Vault.\\?\globalroot\systemroot\system32\UACyxpedhiqhxdulhn.dll Virus found Win32/Cryptor Object was moved to Virus Vault.C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe (752) Virus found Win32/Cryptor Object was moved to Virus Vault.Changes to sytem responce: Report as of 29/05/09Used KillBox To Remove the French File: Inventel\Gateway\wlancfg.exeWhy did I Kill this file? Every time I removed it with a 'Hijack this' tool it would appear again at the next rebooting. The following are the results of this action and comments upon my observations.AVG Appears to run much better now. It no longer finds non-existent files like:\?\globalroot\systemroot\system32\UACyxpedhiqhxdulhn.dllThe 'Kill box' search routine tells me that this file doesn't exist. (Looks more like a Linux/Unix file to me)Tea timer appears to run properly.I cannot download and run most software (- Only small programmes seem to work. I tried to load and run SBSD 1.3 from CD - It didn't work.)I cannot run Malwarebytes and SBSDI cannot erase them reload as I cannot download & Run---I suspect the Start-up Blue screen is false because starting in Normal mode is erratic. Sometimes Blue screen sometimes OK. If I get a Blue screen very often just Crashing the system and forcing a restart will be enough for it to start normally with No Blue screen!Backlight: I could download and run Backlight. Nothing found.Regedit: Now Runs.cmd.exe: Still hijacked but 'cut and paste' links works OK.Comment : Feel as if I'm making some slow progress. Would love some help from people who know more than I do. Questions like: How can certain programmes be blocked - How do I unblock them?If this is seen as Bumping Please demote this log to its correct position.

I got a Dell Inspiron 9200 about a month ago, and the graphics on the Internet are of bad quality. I'm running Windows XP Pro, and I have an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700, 128MB. All graphics on the Internet are jagged...from the Google logo to the logo at the top of this board.

They're fine when I copy and paste them into Word or something, but they look bad online. I've never had problems with web graphics, so I don't know if it's something to do with Internet Explorer, or my computer, or what. Anybody know what I should do?

A:How To Get Into Safe Mode On a Inspiron 9200?

I've never had a power outage wreck a drive, although I know it can happen. I think it's more likely to happen if the outage occurs when the drive is reading or writing. But anyway, it's possible that some computers on the same strip might be OK while others aren't.But yeah, whatever the cause it's likely your drive is bad. Looks like it has an IDE--not SATA--drive, probably only 60 gig. This fellow recommends replacing it with nothing larger than 120 gig but I haven't checked myself:

Hi All,
I have a dell inspiron 9200, and the power connector is loose, so I opened up the unit to see if I could fix it. Well, I couldn't do anything, so I put the laptop back together, making sure everything was correctly connected,. etc.....
Heres the issue:
When I try to turn it on, one of the icons on the unit blinks, and thats it. It won't do anything else...
The icon looks like a lock with a capital "A" in it.
Can anyone help me out?

A:dell inspiron 9200 question

That's your Caps Lock icon - and when its blinking, you probably didn't put the keyboard back on right.

As for the power connector, if it's a motherboard mounted one, you've probably melted the solder off the terminals - unless you know how to handle an extra-fine soldering iron, I'd let a pro handle that fix. Sometimes, if you can just give them the board and ask them to solder that piece, you can swing a deal on the costs (since having one of them open a case and do the entire deal would be expencive).

I've recently installed Vista Ultimate (update) over XP (on Dell 9200 Inspiron) and got the expected driver problems , one being the touchpad (Alps Electric) scrolling stops working. Dell don't seem to have a specific driver update for my pc so after a bit of searching found a site with a comment to try using
and it seems to be working fine. Dell says it's meant for some Latitude's but no probs so far.

I am having a problem connecting my Dell Inspiron 9200 to my Sharp Aquos 32 Inch Flat Screen LCD TV. I am using a DVI-D cable connecting the laptop to the TV, but I am unable to see anything on the TV. Do I have to change any settings on the laptop to make this work? I would appreciate any input.

Check your user manual. There may be a set of keystrokes required to make the port go Hot?

That's how my HP works.

I'm having trouble tacking down an audio driver for my Dell Inspiron E1705/9400. It has a Sigmatel 9200 HD Audio Codec.

As Indicated from device manager

VEN 8384 - Sigmatel
DEV 7690 -9200 HD Audio Codec
SUBSYS 102801 - Dell

The audio card is able to output sound however while playing back any prolonged audio, ie music, the playback is unacceptably interrupted with digital artifacts such as skips and pops. This behavior is experienced using a variety of drivers. All drivers have been uninstalled using device manager and then the system has been rebooted before installing the next driver. Also all of the other dell recommended drivers have been installed without a hitch. Finally all windows patches are up to date.

I started with the driver provided by Microsoft and continued to try the recommended driver from dell, R171788. I have also tried the following additional driver packages from dell, R108276, R147073, and R171789.

Additional Information:
OS: Windows 7 x86 Home Premium
Dell Service Tag: BSCDK91

Thank you for any input!

My sisters has a HP 6730 - 600MHZ processor 64 megs of ram. While researching memory I found some sites to say max is 256 2 128's while others say 512 2 256's. I put in 2 - 256's for 512 max, however it's only showing 510. Should she be concerned or does this kind of thing just happen? She claims it is running much better then with the original 64.

No need to be concerned, this all relates back to the earlier days of computers when there was a conflict of opinions about the number of bytes in a kilobyte..

A:Problems Reinstalling Xp Home On Inspiron 1000

Some Dell CD's were "locked" to a specific code in the BIOS - if your system doesn't have it, the system won't load. I'm not familiar enough with this to know if this is the situation with yours or not. FWIW - the Dell restore disk is usually a different color from the other disks (which are blue) and it will say something about "Operating System" on it.

I'd suggest obtaining another Windows XP CD of any type (not a Dell) - then trying to start the installation on your Dell. If it starts, then you've most likely got the Dell BIOS lock thing. If that's the case, then you'll have to find a copy of XP that matches the certificate on the bottom of the laptop (version of XP, service pack level, and OEM status).

For several months I've been messing with this laptop. Posted other issues on here for it too. History: Laptop given to me from someone who got it from a customer as she was tired of it crashing, he took it as a work project, then gave to me saying don't keep anything important on it as it has a crash history and he hadn't figured it out. I don't have anything on it really, use it mostly for internet in other parts of the house or when away from home. Each time it crashed they ended up reinstalling OS. Dell won't help me because I don't know original owners name so they can't register it to me now.It will work fine and have no problems, then when I go to boot it won't all of the sudden. It has given me BSOD in pasdt months, it has given the above files as missing or corrupt at varying times. This last time it said load needed DLLs for HAL. I researched online and tried to do recovery console, not advanced enough to know what to do once in there other than run the chkdsk r & p. So last night I gave up & reinstalled OS again, letting it run during night. THis morning I awoke to the screen msg of missing or corrupt ntoskrnl.exe which is the message I get the most.I've seen a couple things online that it could be related to bad memory or bad video card. I upgraded memory in January, got it off ebay. Crashed a couple days later. When I got it back up & working I went online and tested memory, report was fine. A few times I've taken "new" memory out and stu... Read more

Unfortunately I just got it back and something is totally wrong. Here is a list of problems I can identify:

The wireless card cannot be detected
The audio card cannot be detected

Thinking that perhaps i need to reinstall the drivers, i tried to put the disk that came with the computer for the drivers but the preparing to install flashes 3 times and nothing happens

I thought that my 16 year old cousin could handle the responsibility, however, it seems not. So I questioned him and managed to get out what he did or was trying to do. Apparently he torrented one of those Dragon Speech Recognition Softwares and was trying to use the directopms to "crack it". (thank god he had printed the directions so I can give you a little idea what he did).
So after installation and putting in the fake serial, the directions ask you to:

My cable company recently upgraded its modems (oh, the fun...not!) There are 3 computers in my home, one which is connected directly to the modem, and 2 on wireless connections. The other wireless computer is maintaining an Internet connection without any problems, mine isn't.

When it tries to automatically sign on to the network, the wireless connection gets as far as "Acquiring network address", then stops. However, it will successfully connect to another network that is within range, so I'm pretty sure my wireless adapter isn't bad. Resetting the modem isn't producing any results.

Mine is a Dell Inspiron 2200 running Windows XP SP3. I'm using the wireless adapter that came installed with the computer, my anti-virus (Norton 2012) is up to date, and Windows Firewall is turned on. According to the cable company, my OS is supposed to be compatible with the new modem. The modem is an Arris Telephony Gateway.

Any ideas on possible causes and solutions?

YES!  You CAN teach your OLD DELL INSPIRON 531 desktop a NEW WINDOWS 10 operating system!
First - The Bad News:
Memory - boost the 531 up to its 4 Gig capacity.  The stock 2 Gigs won't cut the mustard for this.
Audio - the integrated sound chip on the motherboard will sound choppy if you use the Realtek drivers and/or may not work at all giving you the dreaded NO AUDIO DEVICE FOUND.  Since the 531s are used mainly for the usual email and online surfing activities anymore (a gaming machine they're not even when they were new) ... just get a new sound card for a few bucks online and disable the integrated sound chip on the motherboard in BIOS.
Upgrading to Windows 10 from XP, VISTA, SEVEN ... you need to do a clean installation or you will encounter issues like corrupt registries, applications like Adobe not working, and Microsoft Office errors after the update (where Office throws up the dialog it can't find Word, Excel, Outlook etc. even when you click on the application's executable file).  This means back up your personal files to an external hard drive.
Now - The Good News:
Despite the fact that the Windows 10 Upgrade notification icon tells you that the Inspiron 531's integrated NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 doesn't have drivers for Windows 10 and therefore won't let you upgrade to Windows 10 Home or Pro ... pay no attention to that.
You do not need to go buy a video card for this system for Windows 10.

OK guys, put on your thinking cap. I have a customers Dell Inspiron 1100 notebook that had a hard drive failure. After replacing with a new hard drive and then installing Win XP Home SP1, the machine powers itself off with about 5 minutes remaining in the Finalizing process. It will do this consistently as I have been through the process about 6 or 7 times now. As a test, I wanted to see if the same thing would happen with a different OS so I installed W2K Pro and that installation completed perfectly. I then started thinking of what the finalizing process is actually doing and thought that it must be a driver causing the problem but why a power down instead of a reboot? My next steps are 1) using the customers original re-install CD provided by Dell and if that doesn't work then using a CD that includes SP2. If neither work then I am at a loss. I have seen this very thing happen before on a Dell Lattitude C600 when installing XP Pro but can't for the life of me remember the actual fix. Any thoughts or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

I have inspiron 15 with Windows 7 home. My harddrive crashed so I got a new hard drive and reinstalled OS from dell reinstallation disks. Everything worked fine for couple of months and I started noticing sound distored (from all sources, youtube, mp3s etc both from onboard speakers and headphones). The video also slows down when the sound lags and gets distoted. I have Ubuntu linux on the same machine where the sound is clear which tells me that its a software issue.

I have updated all the drivers to latest multiple times.
I have disabled sound enhancement but nothing changed.
I have removed all the latest windows updates hoping to restore to earlier point but no change.

I created a restore point but I have been overwriting the same file so I don't think I can roll back to earlier working restore point.

Is there anything I could do to fix the issue?

Any help is appreciated.

A:Inspiron n5110 with Win 7 Home dropping wifi connection frequently

Hi santas22,

Please try the following steps:

Remove all 'wireless profiles' manually:
- Click Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Manage Wireless Networks > Right click to remove all wireless networks listed (Windows will detect the networks automatically and will allow you to establish connectivity again; use the 'network security key' if using a secured connection)

If the issue persists, please share details of the wireless card installed in your notebook. To find that information, click 'Start' > Type 'devmgmt.msc' (without quotations) in the 'search text-box' > Tap 'Enter' to open 'Device Manager' page > Expand the category 'Network Adapters' > Capture and share details of the wireless devices listed underneath this category.

Do reply with the findings. I'll take it forward from there.

Hi all,

Pretty sure I am screwed, but if that is the case, I'll be pretty pissed....this is a bit of a story, so bear with me.

I do some light computer work on the side. I was recently given a client's Win7 desktop that was acting up - wouldn't boot. Tried everything I could to fix it, nothing would work, so I took the key off of it (it had a Win7 SP1 Home Prem install...honestly not sure if it was 32 or 64-bit, but PRETTY sure it was 64-bit as it's a machine with 8gb of RAM) and reformatted. Now I can't get it to activate. The machine is a Dell Inspiron 545 desktop, but there is no Windows sticker with a key anywhere on it (I retrieved the key using a keyfinder program).

The machine was sold used to my client by another local computer tech. He had to format it last time I had this issue because I didn't have a legit Windows key or disk to format it with and he never gave them any reinstall media (no Win7 install disk and no recovery disks from Dell, and the machine has never had a recovery partition since I've first seen it). This time, he left the Windows key on the machine in a .doc file for any future techs....however, as I said, the key isn't allowing itself to be activated.

MGADiag claims it's an OEM_SLP key (MGADiag log attached below)...if that is the case, it's supposedly the key that came with the machine from the factory, and if THAT is the case, how did he pull that one off in terms of installing it...? The machine has no recovery partition, unless he never ga... Read more

I have a 19 GB folder "Windows.old" that I don't want. I don't find where I can custom an install without having that file. Help?

A:Clean Install Vista Home Basic On Dell Inspiron 6400

Windows.old is a backup of the old OS (in this case, it's probably the XP installation). I'd suggest exploring it first to see if it contains anything that you want - then delete it to reclaim the space on your system. Also, run a defrag after deleting it so that they system will effectively utilize the space right away.

There are only two things that come to mind for purchasers of OEM (Dell, Lenovo, etc.) systems:
   a.  If you have a legitimate, licensed version of Windows lying around a clean install and rid yourself of the additional junk which OEMs install.
   b.  Install the maximum amount of RAM which the system will accommodate.

Hello. I hope all is well.
I have a Dell Inspiron 9100 that I think is finally ready for the scrap yard.
Even though I backed up the data, my 9100 system still has some old files that didn't carry over with the back-up. For instance, my Outlook Express archived old emails, somehow, and now I need access to a message I receive pre-archive. It isn't in the back-up data. So, I need a way to search my old system, within the files, to find the email.

Unfortunately, that system does not provide, from what I can tell, an option to search within the file contents. So, I need to figure it out.

The only computer search option I can find is the integrated Windows Search by file name or folder.

This is important so please respond as soon as possible.

The normal startup sequence is:
1. Illuminated screen (1 sec) permitting F12 access to BIOS
2. Dell Logo with rotating dots
3 Desktop
What I am now getting is:
1 Black screen (30-35 sec) with no access to BIOS
2 and 3 as before.
Since this unfortunate change happened, I have been unable to see USB3 drives anywhere on the system (File Manager, Safely Remove Hardware, Device Manager, Disk Management, etc).
I have had this fault before with both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, but have never found a remedy, and have always had to wait for the fault to rectify itself. This has meant waiting anything from 3 days to 1 month. Once the normal startup resumes, the USB3 fault is rectified without further ado.
I have found no solution to this on the Dell site.I do not understand why this happens every 2-3 months, and would greatly appreciate any remedy which does not involve delving inside the machine.

A:How do I rectify black screen startup on an Inspiron 5537 15R running Windows 10 Home

Hi rackbrane,
Thanks for posting!
It sounds like your back light on your LCD screen is going bad or possibly the connection to the cable is loose! Try hooking up another monitor to it and see if you get video on that OK. If nothing appears on the other monitor try holding FN key and hit F1 to toggle thru ouputs until it shows.  If it is the screen, then a replacement can be easily procured from Dell Spare parts or from, or Discount Electronics.
Post back if you need additional assistance.  Thanks.

I have a Dell Inspiron 5721 running Win7 home premium 64bit SP1 - 3rd Gen i7-3537U proc

I'm trying to save a System Image and transfer it to a

Dell Inspiron 5748 that is running Win 8.1 - 4th Gen i7-4510U proc.

The 5748 had Win7 HP64bit SP1 loaded on it, but I lost it due to an unsuccessful
attempt to load a Sys Image into it.
[I didn't know my last success doing this was because I had identical computers]

And the 5748 only came with Win 8.1 Disk, which I loaded to see if i could live with it, but I can't.
[Too many legacy programs that won't run in 8.1]

Dell did send me the Sys7 Disk and license code for the 5748, if that would help at any stage.

I've read a lot on the forums about Sysprep, OOBE and Generalizing and Audit Mode and I'm not clear which tutorial i should use to get this to work? I believe I need to reconfig the BIOS in some ways too?
I also have downloaded all suggested drivers from Dell and have them on a USB drive.

Thanks in advance for any help. From my browsing this looks like a pretty amazing forum.

A:Install sys image Win7 home prem 64bit in Dell Inspiron 5748

I'm not sure I follow you, but:

You aren't likely to get away with moving a Windows installation from Inspiron 5721 to some other machine, Inspiron 5748 or not. That would violate the license terms, let alone whatever other issues you might run into--different drivers, different chipsets, different Intel generations, etc.

Is that what you have in mind?

Or do you in fact have another Windows 7 license that you want to put on the 5748?

You say "Dell did send me the Sys7 Disk and license code". For which machine?

Try running the Dell Diagnostics Test (the full version) to see if it detects any problems. Here's how: How to Run the Dell. If it does, contact Dell Support for assistance (there's a link near the bottom of the above article).

I hope this helps. If the test comes back completely clean, then post back and we'll try something else (or if your computer is still under warranty, contact Dell Support anyway as they should be happy to assist you and know more about your computer than we do).

Good luck!

Greetings. Hoping someone can help with reformatting a Dell Inspiron 1721; 3 GB RAM; 250 GB HDD; Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core 1.9 GHz processor; Vista Home Premium 32 bit OS.

Reformatted and clean install of Vista 2 months ago. Afterward, everything worked perfectly until a couple of weeks ago. After automatic updates installed Vista SP2, suddenly Windows Media Center (which I've never used and am not at all familiar with and have no plans to learn it and use it in the future) began opening by itself over and over.

Also, a little window popped up on boot up that said something to the effect that my new hardware needed intalled; however, I have not added any new hardware. Have no idea what it was trying to install.

Also, intermittently, programs I'm using just exit out even though I have not pressed exit. And, the mouse intermittently jumps around by itself or won't respond to the touchpad - - it opens programs, opens the start menu, types gibberish into the 'Start Search' line, closes programs, opens browsers or browser tabs, closes browser tabs, etc, etc, etc.

Also, sometimes an odd looking exit menu appears top left screen in a different resolution than the screen is set at. AND, sometimes, when I'm working, all of a sudden the keys won't type but the computer issues a loud beep every time a key is pressed.

When problems first started, I immediately ran system restore. No change.
Tried another date in system restore. Still no change.
Went through all restore points and... Read more

Hi Sharon.

If your game then so am I.

All the things you stated sound like a possible infection or operating system corruption due to unknown reasons. Although none, or a questionable one, was found. I am in total agreement with Garmanma. Also the fact that the rootkit scan is disabled in AVG causes me some concern.

Seems you already have a pretty good idea how to format the drive and reinstall your OS and drivers....... But would like to take it one step further in this case though. I would like to have you wipe the entire hard drive to zeroes prior to formatting and installing the OS. This would include what is called the MBR = Master Boot Record, the partition the OS is on as well as the restore partition. Of course this would leave you only the option of reinstalling via the CD. All pre-installed software will be gone for good. Complete restore CDs are usually available from the OEM for a nominal cost.

The only reason I suggest this manner is, 1)The problems you are describing does somewhat resemble infection symptoms. 2)Depending on the possible infection type a simple reformat may not get rid of it. I have also read that it is possible for the restore partition can become infected as well.

The procedures are really pretty easy, the program(s) to wipe the drive to zeroes is free and we will do our best to get you through the whole procedure as painlessly as possible.

Let me know what you decide.

Hi, I am new to this forum and not a computer expert. My 6-month old Dell Inspiron laptop is currently stuck on the Welcome screen (with spinning icon). When turned on, it brings me to my sign in screen, I enter my password and then it goes to the Welcome screen and just stays there and the little icon keeps spinning. I tried holding down the power button to force it to turn off, then turning it back on but the same thing happens. It has been sitting, "spinning/stuck" for over an hour now.

Any suggestions on what to do? Thank you!

A:Dell Inspiron Laptop Windows 7 Home Premium Stuck on "Welcome" Screen

Hi aphelocoma,

Please try the following steps to see if they help:

Try to run 'hardware diagnostics' to check 'hardware functionality':
- Power off the laptop > Power it back on; at Dell splash screen repeatedly tap 'F12' > Use 'arrow keys' on the keyboard to highlight 'Diagnostics' and tap 'Enter' > Capture 'error message' if any.
You may refer to the following 'web article' for detailed steps: Run Built-In Diagnostics for Your System

If you still experience issues, try to 'Load BIOS defaults' to see if that works:
- Power off the laptop > Power it back on and at 'Dell splash screen' repeatedly tap 'F2 key' > Tap 'F9' to 'load BIOS defaults' > Tap 'F10' to 'Save and Exit'
Note: Also check the 'hard drive status' in the 'BIOS' (Check if detected)

Please share the exact system model, if no conclusive results show up.

Do reply with the findings; would be glad to assist.

1.) The game locks up, and the screen flashes once.
2.) I receieve an error message stating that my computer has recovered from the lock-up, but must be restarted to save the settings.

Hi All
I have an older Dell Dimension 9200 which has a Geforce 7900GS graphics card (PCI express x16 Bus 375w) and has worked perfectly for quite some time (a few months) after the Windows 10 upgrade but in the past few days it has developed a problem in that the screen is ultra bright and cannot be altered. We DON'T play games on the computer at all.
I have talked to Nvidia and they say that the card is not supported or tested for windows 10.
I talked to Dell and they tell me that the card is no longer supported.
So, I rang Microsoft and asked them to sort it as I have a warranty with them from almost a year ago when I upgraded to windows 10. They took nine hours (over four occasions) and four phone calls to tell me that the card will now not work since the recent windows 10 updates. My only option is to roll it back to windows 7 - which I don't want to do - or get a new supported graphics card.
My question is: Does anyone know of a graphics card that I can safely use with windows 10 on this machine, and, importantly, I'm NOT IT savvy but could take the old card out and put a new one in if it were a simple process, so would it be simple to do this with a new card?
Thank you all for your help (anticipated help!).

Do you mean it won't stay at those settings???

did you uninstall the drivers from the previous card?
that can cause all sorts of problems if you didn't.

Go to ADD/Remove Programs in the Control Panel, remove all video Drivers, restart, and install the ATI ones for your new card.

That should do the trick.

The connector that came with the card has a video jack on one side, s-video on the other, and a video-to-composite adapter. When i connect the TV the display is all messed up and nothing is visible except for an occasional blur of a desktop. I've tried composite to s-video and s-video to video and no luck. Any advice?

I think you may have to go to the display properties and change to TV.

Right click on desktop, choose properties, last tab (Settings), Advanced button, then on the next screen that pops up, to to Displays. It should offer the TV as an option.

What kind of beep ? The motherboard's manual has a section detailing the different beeps you're likely to hear when something fails. It might be the video card that's not properly seated in the AGP slot or maybe another device that you might've disconnected by mistake while installing the new card.

I have Dell Dimension 9200 with the following specs
Intel Core 2
1G Ram
2 - 160G Hard Drives. Raid is turned on, but no drives are defined
OS is complicated: When we purchased this a few years ago, it came with XP Home Edition. But the application needed to run, did not run on home edition. So we purchased a boxed version of XP Pro and installed it.
My problem is I need to replace the OS hard drive and install XP Pro. We did not make the Recovery Disks. When I try installing XP Pro with the CD that came with the boxed version, I get the following error on install. A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED AND WINDOWS HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER. I also get the following stop codes: 0x0000007B, 0xF78E2524, 0xC0000034. Here is the kicker: I talked Dell into sending me recovery disks but they came with XP Home, because that is what it was purchased with (I had thought maybe I could upgrade to Pro). Home edition installed no problem.
I tried replacing the video card and the memory and disconnecting the second hard drive.
Any idea how I can get XP Pro installed. Remember I don’t have the recovery CD’s for pro.
I hope this all makes sense. Email me if you need any more information.

I only have one card, so why would 2 show up? I've tried uninstalling them and having HP reinstall, but I always end up with 2.

A friend of mine did an odd thing.
Before installing his new Radeon 9200 vid card. I told him to uninstall his present vid card drivers. Instead he uninstalled the old card from the device manager.
Now that was screwy but shouldn't have been that big of a deal.
Right now he's stuck in default VGA mode. Old drivers are uninstalled. New card and drivers installed but it's stuck in default VGA. The device manager shows two items under display adapters. One is default VGA other is ATI Radeon labeled as secondary. It also shows it as a PCI as opposed to an AGP
Reading through Microsofts knowledge base it appears to be a known bug with the AGP showing as a PCI.
I've told him to get the Win2000 updates/hotfixes but was wondering if anyone else had input.

Alright I just want to post this very simple fix to a problem people have Radeon 9200 128mb and running Battlefield 2

First off you need to look at the system specs on your game box, make sure yours matches them or is above.

Here are my specs (if you have these or above you should be fine)
Athlon XP 2800+
nForce2 Motherboard
512 mb DDR RAM
120 GB Wester Digital HD(Doesnt really matter if you 40 or above)
Radeon 9200 128mb

After updating your ATi Drivers and Direct X of course you usually freeze right after the intro movie, where a woman's voice says welcome, blah blah. The a VCU Recovery Crash Log comes up and the game crashes.

I spent all day looking for a solution to no avail. But after tweakin around a bit I solved the problem

Set you AGP from 8x to 4x (in the Catlyst Control Center or right click on the ATi icon on the toolbar and go to Display Settings>Smartgear), and there you go all fixed (a system restart is required). When you first launch the game it will be on lowest settings, keep it this way if you want smooth framerate and performance! And whenever you fire your gun in game, it will freeze for maybe 2 seconds, another frustrating problem. Restart the game and that problem is solved.

Alright thats it for me, just wanted to say hi to everyone, hope this helps someone. Go Battlefield 2!

how about for far cry? my card/pc plays BF2 no problem.. i didnt have to do ne setting the AGP to 4x or w/e... everything is perfectly fine.. however, with far cry, i get the VPU recovery error.. hmm... the game doesnt lag or anything like that either.. jsut that randomly.. it freezes for bout 20 seconds.. then minimizes the game then tells me of that VPU recovery stuff i close that. go back to the game. n its fine... till it freezes again n does the VPU stuff again.. so yea.. u got a solution? other than setting my AGP to 4x?

Hi dirty here :giddy:

Having a prob with my MSI MS-6390 mobo and Radeon SE 9200 video card.

I recently changed over my monitor, as my old 19' was dying a painful death. I switched back to my old 17', but alas, nothing seems to be happening! It doesn't even go to windows, it just locks up completely!

I have re-installed windows, deleted my old drivers, everything I can think of but no joy. I did a quick search on google to see if anyone has had similar probs with this set up, but couldn't find anything.

If anyone has any suggestions please help!

A:HELP-MSI MB and Radeon 9200 Issue

It wouldn't make sense that your computer would lock up by switching monitors (as far as I know). Something else must be the cause.

Can you give us some more details on:

1. why you thought your 19" was dying?
2. what exactly to you mean by "lock up". Mouse freezes? Blue screen? Give us as much detail as you can (when it usually happens as well).
3. Have you changed anything else in your computer lately? Both hardware AND software.

A:9200 Radeon problem

I have never had the need to switch modes manually with that card. If the game requires OpenGL, it kicks in automatically. What is the problem you are having? Do you have the ATI drivers? The default Microsoft drivers do not have OpenGL support.

The most recent Catalyst driver for that card is here (if you have XP):

A:Ati Radeon 9200 se problem

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Uninstall all your graphics card drivers, for Nvidia and ATI from add remove programmes in your control panel. Reboot your machine.

Download and run the free Driver cleaner pro programme from HERE . Read the instructions carefully. Boot into safe mode, then run the cab cleaner first for both Nvidia and ATI. then, run the driver cleaner for both NVidia and ATI.

Reboot your computer and install the latest drivers for your Current video card, from the ATI website.
