Internet Explorer 10 crashes immediately. IE9 works though.

Q: Internet Explorer 10 crashes immediately. IE9 works though.

I am having Internet Explorer 10 problems after Ransom removal. I have ran Malwarebytes to get rid of the the ransom virus. I ran Spybot 2, adwcleaner and JRT to clean up some stuff. Unfortunately after doing all of the windows updates which includes IE10 Internet Explorer immediately crashes.

I am using ie7 and winxp on my computer and have recently had an issue with it. When I try to open explorer the window closes before it actually loads up. Bits of the taskbar keep turning grey as well like the old style windows.

I have tried removing all add ons and resetting internet settings but have had no luck. The connection is okay with other computers. On the problem computer the icons on the taskbar says it is there until I click on it when it disspears. I have tried downloading and running programmes like spybot on it (downloading them onto another disk and then transferring them onto the computer) but most seem to need to use the internet to run them. I cant use the web at all so solutions like installing ie6 dont seem possible either. I have ran hijack this here is the log. Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi,

I'm running XP SP3. When my computer starts, I see the taskbar flash on and then disappear, and the same thing happens when I try to launch the explorer.exe process from the command line. This also happens in safe mode. All system checkpoints from before the start of this problem have disappeared so I can't do a system restore. I've run malwarebytes and not found any viruses. I can launch individual programs from the command line (which I start from task manager), so that is what I'm doing for now. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi everyone,

A relative has recently started having problems with their laptop running Vista Home Basic 32 bit (which came pre-installed with no Windows installation discs).
On booting it up, it gets as far as playing the Windows sound and displaying the 'Welcome' screen, then the screen fades to black as if it's about to display the Desktop as usual, but instead the Desktop never appears; a 'Windows Explorer has stopped working' error message box is displayed and the screen remains black. The only option on the error message is 'Close program'.

I can still access Task Manager, and so far I've tried the following:

-Booting up in Safe Mode (exactly the same issue)
-Manually running explorer.exe from Task Manager (it runs for a few seconds and then gives the same error)
-Booting using 'Last Known Good Configuration' (same issue)
-Windows Startup Repair (no problems found, same issue)
-Windows System Restore (no restore points found)
-Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool (no problems found)
-Running chkdsk (no problems found)
-Checking that the only value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon Shell is explorer.exe
-Checking that there are no iexplorer.exe or explorer.exe subkeys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution.options
-Running sfc /scannnow from the command prompt (it gets to 82% and then errors with "Windows Resource Protection could not perform requested operation")

Hey, I am having problems with my other computer suddenly closing both Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer applications, such as Control Panel, My Computer, etc...(Windows XP Home Edition)
When i click on either one, lets say the my computer icon, a pop up of the my computer folder thing flashes for a split second then disappears, the computer freezes for about a second, shows only the desktop, then a few seconds later the icons start appearing on my desktop and my start taskbar comes back. The screen is back to normal with no lag, but the my computer pop up is no longer there. The same thing happens with internet explorer, but it just happens alot quicker.
Does anyone know what could possibly be the problem of this, and maybe how to fix it? Thank You in advance.

Been having trouble with a Windows XP Service Pack 3 machine using the internet, specifically Internet Explorer. IE8 opens but then shuts down immediately with an error message saying that Internet Explorer must be shut down. Was getting this yesterday on repeated attempts. For some reason tonight IE actually opened, I then tried to install Firefox (which had been blown out of the machine somehow) and get the error "Your current security settings do not allow this to be downloaded."Machine is also running much slower than normal. AVG is up to date and hasn't found any viruses, although a tracking cookie alert popped up tonight and I clicked Move To Vault. Firewall is enabled. Not sure if there is anti-spyware running on this, other than AVG. Hello there,

My roomates Dell Dimension 2400 laptop , XP Pro, SP3,
Dual core Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.40 Ghz
2.39 Ghz, 1.00 GB Ram

Is having trouble with Internet Explorer dissapearing immediately and Chrome won't come open and Firefox is slow in opening:(

Joyces brother did something that made her laptop only start in Safe mode.

Not sure all he did but he removed Malwarebytes and did microsoft update.

The Comodo Internet suite Firewall/antivirus is getting an error and won't run

I reinstalled Malwarebytes and ran it and it found a pesky virus I have dealt with alot before called 'My Web Search'. it infected 3 registry files. Whe I tried to run system restore it wouldnt work its earlies date to restor to was 2066!! lol.

Anyway I got it to start normally by runing MsConfig and puting a checkmark by "Start Normally and load all drivers etc." Instead of the "Selected start up option.

It started normally and was fine except for Internet explorer and chrome not working.

I un-installed in add and remove the listed Internet Explorer 7 and 8 in hopes that it would revert to a good copy of Internet explorer 6 like I have done before.

When I open Internet explorer it opens to a plain white window and just hangs there. In task manager it shows in the processes tab but not in the applications tab:( And when you minimize it on the taskbar it has the little "e" icon but does not say Internet explorer next to it on the taskbar:(

When i open the Internet Explorer, it will open then immediately close. I was able to pinpoint the problem at my home page (www.google.com). I opened IE again, stopped it quickly from opening the home page and then entered another web page. It worked. Then i went back to the home page and it closed again. So whenever i enter the home page the program will shut itself. I also use Firefox as web browser and it doesnt do the same thing. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi All

I've got to the slitting wrists stage of this problem. I hope someone can help...

I've been getting the blue screen of death recently and upon checking my computer's error logs I found that it was a problem with my Radeon graphics card. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Radeon software but the audio went. I couldn't find the audio driver (long story) so I did a system restore which worked - everything was back to normal. Or so I thought.

Next morning I tried to open IE but upon opening it closed immediately. I've done a bit of research (ON THE INTERNET AT WORK!) and have done a HijackThis log.

It may be a coincidnece but the other day my screensaver changed - it's now a black screen which says Oxigenscr V5.00.0000. Maybe this is a virus. Thank you for your help in advance

Hi everyone, New to the forum so thanks for the help ahead of time. Upon opening internet explorer it immediately closes and displays nothing. Also Internet options in control panel will not open at all. The windows firewall also tells me "For your security, some settings are controlled by group policy." This computer is not on a network and is a home computer. I was able to work around it by doing some registry work in which I removed the value on the firewall key. So that enabled me to turn the firewall back on. The service for windows firewall is now started with no errors and is set to automatic.

The Internet explorer problem is more important to me at the moment. I know the internet connection is active because firefox works perfectly. I scanned the computer with AVG and it found so many viruses and trojans it was rediculous. I also scanned the computer with webroot spysweeper and it found nothing but when I open IE it stops all sorts of things like drivecleaner for example.

internet explorer opens and shows the outline of the dialogue box and then the page closes

I have done the following

Trying to re-install - message , version already on PC

Rebooted at various stages throughout
- Went to Turn Windows Features On and Off and un-clicked Internet 9

This failed with access denied

In our office there is one site that we have to use Internet Explorer to access. This morning immediately upon start it crashed on two computers(I am unsure if they are related or not). So I have spent three hours trying to fix it and I am not stuck. It is IE 10 (or was) and it is Windows 7. Things I have tried:

1. Running with no addons.
2. Uninstalling then Reinstalling.
3. Doing an sfc scan to see if it was a missing system file.
4. Making sure all required and optional updates were installed.
5. One computer is used sparingly, there is nothing on it but the default programs but ran a virus scan anyway and it turned up nothing.
6. Reset all internet explorer settings.
7. Finally I installed the IE11 beta version and it does the exact same thing.

Having two different IE versions do the exact same thing makes me think it is a system issue and not an IE issue. Both Firefox and Chrome work with no issues.

Just wanted to add that it will start in safe mode with no problems

Just disabled DEP on IE

A:Internet Explorer immediately shuts down upon start

Maybe try running these tools: tool 1, tool 2.

If that doesnt help, I have a few more possible solutions. This is another one: Install IE 10 and make sure all Windows updates are installed (not just for IE, but for the OS).

If that doesnt work, tell me.

Before I describe my problem, I want to let you all know that this is my work laptop.  My work IT people have already tried a lot of things such as combofix, malwarebytes, restore points, etc for THREE DAYS.  Therefore, I apologize in advance if the work that they did make it more difficult to fix.  I am coming here as my last resort before they reimage my computer.

At the beginging of this week (2/25), I noticed that I cannot access any website via Chrome.  Chrome shows a circle animiation in the upper left hand corner of the window.  I have no problem in accessing the same website with IE.  One interesting observation is that all icons (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Search, etc) show "color" when I bring up Chrome.  This usually mean that they can access their associated services.  Chrome can still access my gmail setting, including my bookmarks etc.  I looked and did not notice any redirection in my proxy settings.

I contacted my IT guys then an they tried every which way possible to fix my problem.  They noted that Chrome would work in "no sandbox" mode but that's not safe.  They said I had some malware infection and they took care of them.  However, even Malwarebytes show zero infection, Chrome never works.  IE never has any problems.

I hope that I can find some help in this forum.  Here is the DDS log.

My Internet Explorer on my laptop will open, but then immediately closes itself down.

It won't stay open, no matter what I do.

Tried to run the virus scan, which removed 2 problems, but that didn't work.

I wanted to update my Norton Antivirus to see if that would find and solve the issue but since the updates are web-based, and my I/E won't stay open, I can't do that either.

Any suggestions?

Hey all, i'm new here, and you all seem like a helpful bunch =)
I'm running windows XP SP3, and for more than a few weeks now, i've been getting an error message about explorer.exe. DEP would catch it, but i've disabled that. The error message i get is this:

"AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.5512 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 71ab6a55"

After I close it, explorer.exe restarts and then my computer works fine. So it's not a critical problem but i wonder if you have any ideas how to fix it.
The last real changes i can remember doing is installing SP3, installing a UXtheme.dll patch for custom themes, and then uninstalling it cuz i thought it was causing some other problems.
thanks so much!

Hello everyone, im fairly new to this, so please bear with me.

Recently, ive been having trouble with my computer. It started one morning when i went to go check my email. My main browser is google chrome exe so naturally i go to click it. Which is when all this starts -_-. i double click on it, but the program doesnt open. I try to open it by left clicking and running as an admin but still no luck. I soon realize that this is the case for ALL of my programs except Internet explorer, which i find strange considering the similarities with the other browsers. Anyway, ive read previous similar problems on here, and i download Hijackthis. I have a log folder that i can post if needed. Also i see something when i try to open the program quicky enough but i cant make out what it is before it closes. There is also a suspicious search engine called searchqu.com406 that comes up as soon as i start internet explorer Keep in mind this doesnt happen in safe mode, and evrything works fine, just like the computer was regularly before. Ive tried multiple Malwarebytes scans, stinger, (which is still scanning after 25 mins) and AVG (which begins to scan, but then a command prompt comes up and stops it) all to no avail. Any help would greatly be appreciated Please and Thank You

So some of you may remember my vista dell laptop problem, and after that machine had other issues i talked dell into replacing it for me. I've received a different machine, and in some ways it's better, but it's a 64 bit instead of a 32 bit.

so, the new machine is a studio 1555 with a 64 bit core two duo running vista home premium on 4 gigs ram.

the problem i'm having, is i boot it up, and the first time i right click on my computer, it hangs forever. clicking on the desktop brings up the "explorer has stopped responding" popup, and if i tell it to restart, it works fine afterwards, and i am unable to cause the error to happen a second time, until i reboot.

So, every single time i turn the machine on, explorer HAS to crash once for things to operate normally.

i'm heavily suspecting that i've installed some old program that isn't compatible, but i've tried uninstalling them, and i can't figure out which one is causing it.

i've removed virtual clonedrive, batterybar, doppler, and various other apps like that, and the problem isn't going away.

anyone have any ideas how to tell what causes explorer to hang right after boot, and then work perfectly after crashing and restarting?

(i haven't changed any serious settings this time, i learned my lesson, so swap file is still system managed etc.)

EDIT: also, i NEED virtual clonedrive to work, if anyone knows of a similar program that works on 64 bit vista without issues, please help.

A:explorer crashes once after boot and then works fine

update:

now it's happening more than just once per boot. i'm starting to really hate vista again.

I am so puzzled with this problem I have. I have Windows xp: Service Pack 3, and when I open Windows Internet Explorer 8, It turns white and closes almost immediately after I open it, or i'll open it and it'll turn white and stay like that for almost 10 minutes straight and do nothing. I tried resetting it in control panel, and it didn't help at all. Why doesn't it----referring to my browser;Windows Internet Explorer, work?

A:Onli Internet Explorer WOrks. Nothing Else works

This has to be an internet problem. Check the connections between the computer and your router/modem - make sure they are tight. Check your phone connection between the modem and the wall socket. When you say that various programs don't work what exactly doesn't work? Do they start up okay?

If the connections are okay then try pinging a remote address. Click on "Start|Run" and type "cmd" (enter). In the box that opens type "ping www.microsoft.com" and press enter. If the net is connected you will get 4 results back. If it comes up "Timed Out" then the problem is with your net connection and not the computer.

Also, to find out exactly where the problem lays, in the CMD box type "tracert www.microsoft.com" and press enter. This will tell you how far the signal is getting before it times out. If NOTHING comes up then the problem is between the computer and router. If it gets one result only then the problem is between the router and the internet (which could be an ISP problem).

Whenever I use the preview pane in Windows Explorer to view the contents of, say, a .reg file, .txt doc, or .ini file, it crashes with "Preview Handler Surrogate Host has stopped working". I click the "Close the program" option, which is followed by an Application Error: "Exception EAccessViolation in module ShellEh428.dll" etc. I close that as well. Then the preview pane works without having to close and reopen the Explorer window. In fact, if I do close and reopen it, it happens all over again.

It's not that big an inconvenience since the Explorer window itself doesn't actually crash, but it'd sure be nice to find out why this is happening and if it can be prevented.

A:Explorer Preview Pane crashes then works after closing error message.

Sounds like your dll file may be corrubted, you can try downloading that dll and replacing the one on your pc and see if that resolves your problem.

Hi and Welcome to TSF.

Please clarify a few things for me -

1. Do you have two computers - a 32-bit and a 64-bit?
2. Exactly what is it that "shows the computer as disconnected from the Internet"?
3. Have you checked the Control Panel ==> Connect To screen to see if in fact you have Internet connectivity?
4. How long ago was it that you last connected to the Internet successfully?
5. What anti-virus product do you use?
6. When was the last anti-virus scan performed?
7. Did you find anything in the anti-virus scan logs?
8. Do you use Windows Firewall?
9. Do you use a third party firewall?
10. If #9 YES - which one?

Please provide the manufacturer and model number of your computer.

The problem is that if I try to open windows explorer or internet explorer, they immediately crash. I suspect that this is due to spyware / virus.

I have since upgraded from service pack 2 - 3 and run scans with McAfee, Avast and SpyHunter3. Can't find anything ...
All open / save dialog boxes work fine though ... which is luckily the only way i can work now ... through firefox

Hello,

Last night my laptop was infected by the "Win 7 Antispyware 2012" virus. I had Spybot Search and Destroy already on my computer, so I ran a scan with that first which let me access the internet. From there, I downloaded Malwarebytes and that seemed to clear that problem up (the 3 letter .exe file, jvm.exe or whatever).

I thought it was cleared up, but this morning I noticed my computer was extremely slowly and checked the processes tab. I found a ping.exe file eating up most of my CPU usage there. So, I searched the internet again and ran a variety of programs (most of which have since been deleted). I ran Malwarebytes again before going to Combofix - unfortunately I did not heed the warnings and ran that on my own. It ended up clearing up the ping.exe file, but since then I am stuck. At first, no programs would open but a reboot cleared that. Now, Google Chrome and Firefox no longer work, but Internet Explorer does. Several other programs have difficult connecting to the internet as well: Steam and Malwarebytes automatic updater. I can still connect to Ventrilo though.

I have tried a variety of programs since to no avail and am beginning to wonder if I screwed something up with Combofix. I think Window's Firewall may be behind this, since I can't access anything in the Action Center (I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit). When I try to open the firewall, it gives me this error: The Windows Firewall with Advanced Security snap-in failed to load. Restar... Read more

Hi there.
I have the following most frustrating problem with my windows ME system:
Shortly after start-up my windows explorer crashes, my task bar freezes, and I have to use the task
manager to restart it. It then crashes again a few minutes later.
My internet explorer opens very slowly and then crashes quite quickly - I've had to switch to Netscape.
Similarly browsing my hard-disk causes a crash. Netscape isn't that reliable either - but that might not be
related.
I had gator-ware and recently uninstalled it - but I wonder if it might have damaged my system causing these
problems..
I've run a check for bots/modifications using spybot - and effected all of the changes it recommended
but I still have the same problems.
Any suggestions would be most helpful
Thanks

Whenever I open a new Internet Explorer, it either takes about 15 seconds to load OR stays blank (trying to load a page) until I close the window. If it works and I try to navigate to another web page, it takes another 15 seconds or so. When I open the task manager, there is nothing eating my memory or anything. Perhaps something is running in the background that I can't see? Also, for each window of IE I have open, two iexplore.exe show up in the task manager.

I don't know for what reason but running 32 bit Vista and Internet Explorer 8 RC1 it only works when I right click and choose run as administrator, but unless I do this it freezes and nothing loads up. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

A:Internet Explorer 8 only works when run as administrator

I could be wrong about this, but have you tried logging into the computer as admin and reinstalling internet explorer? Make sure you remember to enable access to other users as you see fit. I had a similar problem on my 32bit vista system with my internet explorer and also my world of warcraft. this actually solved the problem with my internet explorer.

Something else to keep in mind; vista uses virtual storage for settings for each profile on the computer. I found that i could use totally different mods for my different programs based on the login to the computer. Just remember there is a difference between altering these settings in admin mode and editing them in another profile that is LIKE an admin. I hope your issue works out and i hope maybe something i have said might be useful and accurate

Hello !

I am running Windows 7 Home premium.

My Internet Explorer 10 hangs on when launched, even if my account is in administrator group; it works fine when I right-click on the icon, and click Run as administrator: then it works OK.
When I use in the "normal" way, the one that is locked, I also noted that many items in settings are greyed, I can't access Internet options.

I disabled all add-ons and plugins, and the behaviour is the same. I tried to run without add-ons, nothing changed.

I tried to reset Internet Explorer, nothing changed.

Finally, other infos: I use Symantec Endpoint Protection, and MalwareBytes antimalware, and the PC seems clean.

The solution could be to change browser, and in fact I had to install Chrome, but... I don't like that PC doesn't do what I want that it should do !

Thanks for any help,

Enrico

A:i unistalled my internet explorer and now nothing works

You didn't actually uninstall IE, but let's leave that for another discussion. Go to Start>Programs(or all programs depending on operating system)>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore. Choose a date closest to but prior to when the problem started. If problem persists, please try to tell us your Operating System and possibly what version of IE you uninstalled. Also why you were doing this.

I dont know if it was an update or something else causing IE(10 & 11) to immediately crash on opening. I have uninstalled, reinstalled both 10 then 11 and it still does it. I cleared all data, reset -everything- back to defaults, and it still crashes immediately. As soon as the window opens, the Restore previous sessions block opens at the bottom, and I try really quickly to hit the X to cancel it, but "Stopped working" window opens, then the Click to close box, while Windows finds and answer.. really frustrated and it's doing it... (light bulb) on nearly all my .. dammit.. it's an update isnt it?
I also ran ESET, Malwarebytes and Avast virus/malware/spyware scans, all three clean.

How can I find which update did this?

I. am. not. happy.

Just like the thread title says, I cannot use IE9 32 bit. Long story, short, I need to use IE9 32 bit to send encrypted military email - IE9 32 bit is the latest version supported.

IE9 64 bit works fine.
IE9 (No Add Ons) crashes on start up.
IE9 32 bit works fine in safe mode with networking - I can send and receive encrypted emails just fine.
I've tried resetting everything in IE9 to default in advanced options - still crashes.
I've tried disabling all add-ons - still crashes.

I've found several threads of people with a similar issue, but none of their fixes have fixed mine.

A:IE9 32 Bit Crashes Immediately

Hello WesHoze,

You might also see if turning off (uncheck) Internet Explorer in Windows Features, apply, restart PC, turn on Internet Explorer again, apply, and restart PC to see if that may be able to sort out IE9.

Hope this helps,

I am using ie7 and winxp on my computer and have recently had an issue with it. When I try to open explorer the window closes before it actually loads up. Bits of the taskbar keep turning grey as well like the old style windows. I have tried removing all add ons and resetting internet settings but have had no luck. The connection is okay with other computers. On the problem computer the icons on the taskbar says it is there until I click on it when it disspears. I have tried downloading and running programmes like spybot on it (downloading them onto another disk and then transferring them onto the computer) but most seem to need to use the internet to run them. Sometime I can resume download from the same website after next day or 2 days later but longer than that and sometime just after pause the download can't resume in internet explorer.

Regard,
Thanks.

A:How resume download works in internet explorer?

The server you are downloading from has to support the Resume feature. The time limit is likely to do with how long that server holds onto files showing the state of the download. Likely it varies depending on how much the server want to reuse the disk space.

Every time I open IE, I get the "Page cannot be displayed, check connections etc." If I just click on the "Go" tab, it will start over and will usually open on the second try. MSN Explorer sometimes does this too, but not nearly as often. I have run Norton, AdAware, and Spybot, then immediately tried IE with the same results. I should probably start by saying that all of my problems began after a trojan removal by malwarebytes. I had 2 trojans found and removed by malwarebytes and subsequently I lost my internet access through internet explorer. Internet explorer however does work in safe mode. I've been using malwarebytes for years and have never had a problem with it before, so I'm not inclinded to believe that it has caused the problem. What is strange is that my computer shows that I have full access to the internet, and this is validated because I have a remote access program that is working like a champ. Norton has access and those are the only two programs that do have access. Oh and internet explorer, turbo tax, google chrome etc all work just fine and have access in safe mode with networking. The log for the malwarebytes scan is right below the list of things I have tried. It says that all of the trojans have been removed successfully so I'd say that my computer is clean of spyware that might stop my computer from access.

ipconfig /release and reset
dns flushed
winsock and tcp/ip set back to defaults (i'm sure there's a technical term for all of this but I don't know it)

clean boot (all the services etc turned off...although for some reason I can't turn the norton service off)

I have been having problems with internet explorer the browser and explorer.exe on my windows. when i right click on my computer and go into properties from the start menu i get the windows error message "problem caused explorer to stop and restart your page" then it makes my taskbar and desktop icons go poof then come back. a similar thing happens to my internet explorer browser when i tried to use it...but it would reopen the page 3 times then stop from a loop. even with no add on enabled it does it. ive done the sfc /scannow and reset and disabled addons.

today for some reason i put it in private browsing mood and it is behaving itself...no more pop up error box loop or error. what is different about private browsing mode that makes it work and can i use this as a clue on how to fix it.

Hi,

I recently made a website using Microsoft Publisher and then I edited it with a 30-day trial of Dreamweaver....I've put it on the web...it seems to be working great with firefox but on internet explorer its slow, images take a very long time to load, the page is off center, etc., here's the link to the website...thanks for any help!

http://www.hep.upenn.edu/Quarknet/summer2008/index.htm

A:My Website Works In Firefox But Not Internet Explorer.

Hmm, if you're seriously interested in creating websites you're probably better off learning HTML, CSS (&Possibly Javascript)... Using publisher is probably not the best of ideas, and i've never been impressed by dreamweaver.

If you're interested in learning HTML then i suggest the tutorials here: www.w3schools.com which can guide you through creating w3 standard websites...

As for the problem i see no reason that it should be lagging on one browser and not on the other. And your images are relatively small so i really don't see the problem.

Cheers,
Jamey

Have you looked in Event Viewer for any errors?

1. Click on Start -> Run
2. Type eventvwr.msc then hit enter. (Alternately you could start it from computer management)
3. Review all errors and warnings in 'Application' and 'System'.
4. Look for any related to either IE or Firefox (or other unexplained errors)
5. Double click on the item to open "properties". Click on the Clipboard icon below the navigation arrows. (Looks like two sheets of paper text)
6. Open notepad or other text editor, right click in notepad and select "paste".
7. After pasteing, hit enter twice to double space, minimize notepad to tray.

Repeat the above procedure for each error entry, opening notepad which is now in the tray and paste, double space and return notepad to tray.

To post: at top of notepad select "Edit". In the Edit menu select "Select All", then in Edit select "Copy".

Come back to this thread, right click in the reply box and select "Paste".

Dear Anyone.

I did have IE6, which crashed within about a minute of being launched. So I uninstalled it, installed Firefox and downloaded IE7.

Which is doing precisely the same thing. You launch it, it crashes within about 10 seconds saying "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close". Which is not the most helpful error message I've ever seen.

Anyone got any ideas? It isn't a conflict with Firefox, because I had IE6 BEFORE Firefox and that was crashing in exactly the same way, it just lasted about 30 seconds longer.

Work through these troubleshooting steps.

Pay particular attention to the steps to check for overheating, comb the logs and System Resources for causes.

The steps lead to a possible Repair Install as a last resort before Clean Reinstalling which is always a fresh start actually much better than getting a new computer since they are all larded with bloatware which we show you how to tame and a clean reinstall eliminates.

After booting into Windows normally, temporarily disable all but 1 antivirus suite or firewall and see if you can connect.

[Note: If you're not able to connect with only 1 running, try disabling that and see if you can connect. But know that your computer is very vulnerable if you do so. Only connect to a site such as Google's home page where you know you won't be susceptible to malicious content.]

Hi Guys.. This is my 1st post. Here goes. I have a Dell desk top with MS WINDOWS XP SP3. Problem started 4 days ago. Tried to use the Internet. Got the must close with following info: error signature: Iexplore.exe AppVer:7.0.6.000.16705 ModName:msvert.dll ModVer:7.0.2600.5512 OFFSET:00036pA3.. I CAN'T USE THE INTERNET but Outlook Express works! Oh, Dr. Watson Debugger has also come on. I've run Spybot, Adaware 2007, Avira to no avail. My D-link wireless shows as working but won't, so I have had to drag my other desk top here to use the Internet . I hope this is a soft ware problem because I don't want to reboot.I've downloaded Internet Explorer 7 onto a CD. Should I delete bad one & reinstall or what? Help!!!!!

PLEASE someone, help me! My PC is running the 7 Ultimate RC, build 7100. My problem is this:
When I boot my computer, it does the normal stuff, and then, about 5 seconds after my log-in screen shows, the computer just shuts off. There's no shut-down sequence, no warning, no BSOD. Just a straight *FSHEW*(that happy noise when something dies, btw), and it's gone. I press the button, turn it back on, same thing. It will crash like this anywhere after it first starts up. Sometimes, it only makes it to the second screen of boot info, sometimes I can log on, and it stays on for about two minutes, and then it dies. Anywhere between there, it WILL die. On a very, VERY rare occasion, it will stay on. I typically shut my PC down before I go to sleep, but after this began, I've been leaving it on sleep mode every night. That was after I wrestled for about three hours rebooting it over, and over, and over again, until it finally stayed on. It stayed on for about a month like this. Well, our power went out recently, so I had to go over the dreaded process again. It worked fine. I was shocked, and shut it down that night. The next day it was h-e-double hockey sticks trying to get it going again. It's been 'sleeping' like me every night since then. However, today is D-day for us RC users, and it expires in 18 hours, or so it tells me. Which means 2 hour periods of playtime. Well, I can't even get it to stay on for two MINUTES, let alone two hours. So this is going to be fun. I know, I shoul... Read more

A:W7 will not boot, crashes immediately - DESPERATE

Well, I'm no debugger but:

I have a similar situation where my computer WILL run into fast BSODs (those that just flick and go away) after I shut it down and reboot the next morning. Currently I'm using a simple solution - after I boot and run into the first crash, I'll press the power button till the computer shuts down. Then I boot it again, in normal mode (it will ask whether to switch to safe mode) and it will never crash on the second go.

You could try that and post back. It's no real solution, but beats working a couple of hours on getting to log in.

Mozilla doesn't seem to have a clue what's causing the crashes.
I'm running only one other app which is the newest Flash (from Adobe website).
The faulting module is XUL.DLL.
Attatched a couple of files from Event Viewer.
The "after close" crash is sporatic (maybe once every two or three days).
Anyone have an idea ?

A:Firefox 19.0.2 Crashes Immediately After Closing

Hi bej,

While researching, I came across various instances where 'similar crashes' are reported with 'Mozilla Firefox version 19.0.2'; appears to be a known issue.

You may try the troubleshooting steps listed in this tutorial to see if that helps: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...t-and-get-help

If the issue persists, you may try moving back to install an older version of 'Firefox' to and check results.
Hope this helps.

I have been using the program Nero SyncUp for a month, but a week ago, the program started to crash immediately after log in. A window error box comes up saying "SyncUp has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you is a solution is available." I have re installed the program and have used system restore to go back to when the program was working but still the same issue.

Where can I find more details about this error so I can go about trying to fix it. The exact same program works without any problem on my other computer that I sync to. When I open up the Windows Event viewer I see the issue under "Windows Logs - Application" as an error report but I have no idea what information on there is generic and what defines the problem or if this is even the place to look.

A:SyncUp crashes immediately after login

Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
Expand Custom Views
Click Administrative Events
Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file here.

Hi i recently just upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8, but i have ran into a problem which is as soon as i connect my ps3 controller to my pc it shows me the BSOD. I looked at the minidump with bluescreenview and the sys files that shows in red are pacer.sys and wdf01000.sys.
I tried to uninstall all my usb drivers, but that did not work neither. when i connect my controller to my pc it would try to install a driver but half way through it crashes as well.
I don't know if this helps or not but before upgrading to windows 8 i had motioninjoy installed on my pc.
Anyone know what the problem is? I have tried to search online but could not find anything.

Hi folks.
I've scoured the internet looking for an explanation but can't find anything.

It was working perfectly well, closed the cover, opened it again five minutes later and only grey screen.
Graphics are fine until log in screen and then everything is grey, I can hear the start up sounds though.

Booted it in safe mode and played around with resolution settings but didn't get much further than that. Got the screen replaced on it a few weeks back but no new software or issues with the new screen.

It's an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC running windows 7.
Any ideas?

A:Windows 7 Grey screen immediately before log in, works perfectly in safe mode

In Safe Mode, uninstall the Display Adapters by right clicking on them and selecting "Uninstall"
If it offers to uninstall the drivers, check that box.
Once that's done, reboot into normal mode to see if you can see the display.

I had originally posted this here, then had it transferred to the Am I infected? forum. I'm posting a link to the string that's still over there, as a moderator has suggested asking here for support with my issue.

Apologies for the cross-forum posting.

Internet Explorer 8, when I open it, will be ok for about 4 seconds and then it will come up with a "internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconveneience." message. It will happen as long as I keep IE open, over and over again. I can't get Windows Updates. Any help would be much appreciated. (Also I can open it with (no add-ons) but how do I know which add-on is bad?

Never mind this post, I disabled all ad-ons and it works fine now. I had many updates to download on Windows Update.

Im not so pleased with Internet Explorer 8 (not longer beta!)
and its freezup crashing at random, it happends 10 times a day
now v.s 0 times a day with IE 7 and backwards

thei added this new feat to recover open webpages that have crashed,
so to show that the anti crash system works! thei where forced to implement the crashes itself allso

i hade hoped that this small windows updates, that computer installs couple a days in week...that atleast 1 could include a bug fix for their lovely
crash-system, but im waiting in wain it seems
gonna soon uninstall and go back to IE 7

unless someone else here have any thauts?
