Constant redirections on multiple browsers/devices

Q: Constant redirections on multiple browsers/devices

A big hello to everyone. This is my second time coming here, albeit with a different problem, and one that is a lot more annoying!

A week or so ago i starting getting occasional redirects and popups to pages that start with "syndication.exoclick" whenever I browsed the Internet with Google Chrome. I cleaned it (deleted all browsing data, signed out of the browser and back on) and it was fine for a day or two. As of today, the problem has gotten much worse. I keep constant redirections to pages starting with "adfoc.us" - over half of the tabs I open are immediately taken over and redirected. Worst part is that it now works on Internet Explorer as well. It is also worth mentioning that I am not getting these redirects only on my desktop, but also on my Nexus tablet as well. The problem seems unconnected to my router, as today I've used my tablet on a completely different Wi-Fi half across town, while still getting the problem. I've ran TDSS cleaner, the Microsoft Security Essantials, Malwarebytes AntiMalware, which all reported 0 problems. I've also reinstalled Chrome, to no effect.
As for the redirects, they ranged from Aliexpress to random cam sites, but now the adfoc.us started showing up, it only displays the adfoc.us page detailing how the system works (with a really annoying voiceover too) and nothing else. It doesn't even allow me the option to press the "Back" arrow, seems like it literally closes a tab I wanted to open and opens a new one with adfoc.us on it. I also tried disabling adfoc.us in Adblock Plus, and now it either closes a tab adfoc.us hijacked instead or redirecting, or shows me a blank page with adfoc.us in the address bar.
One thing I should also mention after reading one similar forum post on here. I've also noticed a set of strange folders in my AppData\Local and AppData\LocalLow directories. They are: "EmieBrowserModeList", "EmieSiteList", and "EmieUserList". Seeing as I've never encountered these, thought they'd be worth mentioning. As for the tablet, I'll disconnect it from everything and run a factory reset.
That's all I can think of, really, here are the logs:

Hello everyone,
I'm having big problems with my laptop at the moment, whenever I browse using firefox or internet explorer almost all links opened do so in a new tab and redirect me to various sites such as tebe.us or installtoolsforfree.com. Basically I'm being hijacked but I'm absolutely stumped as to how to remove this problem. I've tried Spybot, AVG, Trend Micro housecall, Malware bytes, Kaspersky, none of them can clean this infection out!

Part 2 of the problem is that for the last week whenever I plug a USB memory stick into my laptop Windows XP sp2 acknowledges that a drive has been inserted because I hear the little "DoDoo" jingle but it doesn't show in My Computer or in disk management, but it does show in device manager. I've tried changing drive letters to see if there was a conflict somewhere but no joy. I'm not sure if the hijacker messing around with my registry has stopped my USB drives working, but my USB mouse is working fine. Maybe the 2 problems are unrelated, but all my memory sticks were functioning perfectly until a week ago.

I have some pretty important files I need to keep and I would've just put them onto a memory stick and then re-installed windows if I could but I can't access my removable storage, CD drive is broken so it looks like I'm just gonna have to find a way to remove this malware!

I know I'll need to post hijackthis and maybe combofix reports but I don't understand what any of it means, so what I'm asking is if anyone ... Read more

Hello all,
Been here a couple times before and you've helped me out fantastically, I'm afraid I'm back to bother you all some more.

A friend of mine was messing around on my Laptop while I was in the kitchen. Couple of minutes (literally minutes) later I get a call through saying he thinks he may have downloaded a virus. Basically, all searches on Google come up fine, but when I click on them they redirect to other sites (Seemingly completely random sites at that, from Porn to other search engines). I'm also getting loads of pop ups (Or pop unders) whatever site I go on.

I'm running AVG (But it always seems to fail a scan, a windows error pops up saying it's crashed and click to send a report to Microsoft). I've run Malware Bytes, Spybot, Spywareblaster, Vundofix... All with varying results.

Malware Bytes - Finds the malware, deletes it, problem resolves for a few hours then comes back again.

Spybot - Finds less than Malware Bytes and doesn't solve the problems.

Spywareblaster - Does little

Vundofix - Finds nothing
Really hoping you guys can help out, don't fancy doing a reinstall to clean the bugger out. Here's the nitty gritty:

Windows Vista
2GB Ram
Nvidia Go Series Laptop Card
Wifi Internet Connection

Well, thought I'd better update this. I'm having some real problems now - Firstly, explorer won't start. The screen loads up my Documents and Settings folder against a black background... Tried ctrl-alt-delete to get explorer up and it simply won't load. I was confronted with some messages last night along the lines of "You may be a victim of Windows Conterfeiting" (The Windows I'm using was provided with the laptop, bought from Play.com) and "Windows Search Protocol has Failed" - Amongst others.
Thankfully I can still get on the internet and such, just can't run explorer at the minute.

When I search in Yahoo, all my search results get redirected. Google seems to work fine though. Also there seems to be a problem running Ad-aware 2008 scans and downloading updated definition files which may be blocked by a virus or some other sort of malaware. I did a Symantec Endpoint Protection scan a week ago before i reformatted my computer to try and get rid of the problem because it detected a "resycled" folder and a "ntdelect" problem. Recent scans don't detect the same problem. Instead it detect a "Trojan.Fakeavalert" on the "E:\System Volume Information" folder which was successfully deleted. I used another forum to get rid of the problem and it lasted for awhile but then it came back. I have 2 hard disks, hard disk 1 was reformatted completely and split into 2 partitions (C: and D:) while hard disk 2 is just an E: drive which is never reformatted because it has valuable information on it. So I'm guessing the infected file is on my E:\ drive somewhere to begin with. Should I do any other scans in addition to the ones required from the guidelines post?I read another forum post http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/176732/yahoo-search-results-redirect-to-random-page-hijacked-and-backdoorwin32ultimatedefendere-infection-and-computer-very-slow/ and the problem seems to be similar so maybe this might help with the process of finding my problem? A:Devices and Printers - devices being displayed multiple times

Looks like Ghosts of DLNA devices. Start by taking offline any DLNA capable gear, reboot the Gateway and also clear its IP Table.

Also clear out those ghosts from Devices and Printers.

For some reason this started in Windows 7, when Microsoft started to play games with DLNA and media Shares.

I consider myself an advanced user, but this one I've never seen, nor can I find info out for...

I haven't been able to plug a video camera or external hard drive into my computer via FireWire. I then tried a different cable, nothing. I then tried a different device and cable, nothing. I then tried a different computer with two devices, nothing.

My USB2.0 works fine with each device and computer. I also took the new computer into CompUSA and they tried their firewire device and all worked. I bought a new firewire cable, but I have the same luck with each device.

How can 2 external hardrives, and one sony camera not work, after working for a year. What happened? What do I need to do?

There are multiple websites that I cannot connect to, facebook, rottentomatoes, youtube, to name a few. Others seem perfectly fine. A few seem okay, but seem to be running slowly.

This is the case for both my computer (on which I am running Windows 7), which is connected directly to the router, *and* mobile devices which are connected wirelessly.

On my computer I have tried using several different browsers to no avail, but when I used the TOR browser to proxy, I was able to access them.

I apologize if this has been asked, but I haven't been able to find anything this specific.

Thank you.

Hi,

About 6 days ago I started to get redirects in the search results of Google, FF and IE. I had AVG running at the time. Since then, I have run Aviara Anti Vir, Super AntiSpyware, Sophos Rootkit killer, Rootkit Buster, TDSSKiller, Spybot S&D,Ad-aware, CCleaner,Advanced SystemCare,Threatfire, UniBlue Registry Cleaner and Registry mechanic. I've been busy and very frustrated. All these programs found various minor problems but none solved the redirect problem. It is now super annoying.
I am running Windows 7 (DAZ loader 1.9.1) with 2 gb of memory and 1TB WD drive. Using an NVidia 8400 GS graphics card.

Hope someone can find an answer to this frustrating problem. Otherwise I may have to resort to Linux (only kidding although it may not be a bad idea :-) ).

Thanks in advance.

It's possible that you have an infected Master Boot Record (MBR) so lets check it to be sure. Please download bootkit_remover.rar and save it to your Desktop. <-Important!!! You will need to extract the remover.exe file using a program capable of extracing RAR compressed files. If you don't have an extraction program, you can downlaod, install and use 7-zip.Right-click on the bootkit_remover.rar file and select "extract/unzip here".This will create two readme files and a file named remover.exe on your desktop.Double-click on remover.exe.
Note: Vista/Windows 7 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.A command window will open with a black screen and some data on it.Right-click on the screen and choose Select All.The screen will turn white. Press CTRL+C to copy the data on that screen.Open Notepad and press CTRL+V, or click on the Edit tab and choose Paste.Copy and paste the output from Notepad in your next reply.Clcik on the black screen and Press any key on the keyboard to exit.I have run UniBlue Registry Cleaner and Registry mechanicBleeping Computer DOES NOT recommend the use of registry cleaners/optimizers for several reasons: Registry cleaners are extremely powerful applications that can damage the registry by using aggressive cleaning routines and cause your computer to become unbootable. The Windows registry is a central repository (database) for storing configuration data, user settings and machine-dependent settings, and optio... Recently I have been experiencing constant flickering in my web pages, applications, PDF's and so on.When I move my mouse anywhere while in a web page or application, my screen constantly flickers and sometimes switches randomly from one tab to another or one application to another when I have multiple tabs open or multiple applications running at the same time, which is all the time because I am in school. I am not sure what is causing this because I have superantispyware, malwarebytes, microsoft security essentials and microsoft fix cleaner all on my laptop. And sometimes, strange, weird, random, and inexplicable things occur from time to time.

Thanks for you consideration,

Im having a problem with the USB error bubble popping up constantly.. Sometimes i will get an hour or two without the bubble coming up.. but usually it pops up bout every 2-5 seconds.. As you could probably guess this is interferring with how my computer is operating.. It freezes up alot but it will resume after the freeze.. If i restart sometimes that will help a little by cutting down how many times the bubble comes up.. I dont have anything plugged into the USBs But i do have a modem connected by ethernet.. The error bubbles say USB device unrecognized after clicking on it it shows one unknown device.. I have tried powering down and shutting off the power strip.. And unistalling all devices and rebooting.. I havent tried updating my BIOS, repairing my OS install, or installing motherboard chip sets cause i dont have a clear idea of how to do that.. All of the USB ports dont work an the devices do work on another computer..

Hey,
Im trying to breath new life into an old and now unreliable machine by replacing the motherboard, chip, memory and graphics card for modern future proof ones, but i want to know if the old devices (which i am happy with for the time being) will be compatible with the new motherboard and whether the new board will have enough sockets for the four devices; DVD drive, CD drive, Floppy and hard drive. The original motherboard is a Gigabyte ga-72xe, and the devices are unbranded (at least from the outside) and look like pretty standard and generic. The hard disk is something like 32gb i think, anyhow the new board ive got in mind is either an ASUS A8n, msi k8n, or Gigabyte ga-k8nxp or one of the many Ga-k8 subtypes as the starting point for a hefty new system. Really im concerned that while trying to put together a cost effective but forward looking upgrade (going for pci-e) for an old machine, an overlooked practicality will mean delays and extra unexpected expense. Will i still be able to use the old devices? will it all still fit in the existing case? does the modern motherboard need something more than my standard cheapo power supply? can i just plug the old hard disk in and everything will fire up as usual? Any answers guys would be much appreciated!
Cheers

A:old motherboard new devices constant lack of knowledge

You're fine. CDROMS and hard drives made in the past 8 years are standardized. I havent bought a new computer since "99. I just keep upgrading. Just make sure the new motherboard has at least 2 IDE connectors and a few PCI slots. You might want to get a newer hard drive. They are alot faster now and you can get one for as little as $50.

Our ISP recently updated their hard ware to work with the Sprint network. Note: our ISP is not Sprint, but the local phone company.

Our Hardware:
Internet: DSL 10.0 (highest speed available)
Modem: Comtrend (ISP provides)
Router: Belkin N
Computer: 10 yr old Dell running XP - service pac3 - wired connection
Kindle Fire (first edition, no HD, etc) - wireless connection
Xbox 360 - wireless connection

Issues:
Xbox - went from constantly bumped from Xbox Live game by losing internet connection to not being able to enter a game at all
Kindle - went from occasional "network error' message during online tasks to having to restart download (multiple times) or refresh page for most any or all online tasks
Computer - have to click refresh to get most any page to load after the home page

What we've tried so far:
I have recently cleared the cache on both the computer and Kindle. XBox's new security measures have been met.

My questions:
Do any or all of these issues seem to be related?
Is there a piece of equipment or something we may be missing to make all of these things work? I am a networking novice.
Who should I call to get these issues corrected, my ISP or a tech service? Note: if I start with the ISP and they do not find an issue I have to pay for the call.

A:Multiple issues over multiple devices

First. You should try to NOT use a wireless connection for any type of gaming: PC, Mac, Console, etc. If you can hard wire the xbox you'll be waaay better off than using wireless.

Now... Yes, the issues could be related - there maybe an issue with the Belkin N router. I'd try to first reset the Belkin router to default settings, check on manufacturer website for instructions how, most routers you can press a "reset" button w/ a paperclip or ball point pen. Reconfigure the Belkin router, recreate the wireless network and see how everything works. If you are still having issues, humor me and connect the Dell directly to the DSL modem, bypassing Belkin router. See if you still have connection issues, if you do then it could be the DSL modem that is the problem and call your ISP to replace. If you don't have same issues then it's most likely an issue with the Belkin router. Replace it. Don't buy the dirt cheapest router at the store, but you most likely don't need the most expensive one either. Find a good middle ground router, ask sales associate to assist you accordingly.

Post back, Hope this helps!!

A:All browsers showing unwanted popups ( adultcamerainfo etc) on all devices

hi,

My name is shelf life. You can do this if you still need help. The only common thing to your devices is your router. Read the routers documentation or visit the router vendors website and do a hard reset of the router. This will change it back to its factory defaults and it will grab your ISP's DNS.
Beaware any changes you made will have to be made again. Like changing the default login passwords to the routers  interface, which you want to change anyway.

In short the routers DNS IP lookup has been changed by the malware redirecting all your devices browsing.

Hello Bleeping Computer Team and thaks in advance for the consideration. Few days ago I started having problems while surfing with mozilla on twitch.tv . The browser was slow and suddenly stopped working. Once closed I decided to reopen it only to find that no matter where I clicked (even on blank space) tons of pop up appeared, and I was often redirected to spam pages. All the different browsers I had were affected, including steam. I started a few complete scans to no avail.

The only thing found was a suspect cookie called "doubleclick" in the steam appdata html cache; deleting it had no effect since it just keep popping up. The tech support wasn't able to  find everything on remote. So while waiting to reinstall the os and wiping the HD clean I decided to switch to my clean laptop. Well the same moment I reopened steam, the same cookie started showing up (with the annoying popups). I really don't know what to do know, since I'd really need a hand to clean both machines, since I'm know afraid that even wiping the HD wouldn't have effects since this malware just jumped from my pc to the laptop via Steam.

On a side note: the premium version of malware bytes suddenly started blocking in and out malicious connections using the svchost.exe

I also apologize for any misunderstanding since english is not my native tongue (a I've barely slept)

After accidentally clicking on an ad instead of what I wanted to click on, a program downloaded. I thought it was what I had meant to download, but it was not. I did not realize this until after I had installed it, however. I immediately went into the control panel and uninstalled it, but it's effects seem to have stayed. Random ads appear all over whatever browser I'm using, and sometimes when I click on something, a tab will open up with some random advertisement. It also appears to have made it unable for my browser to run certain things, such as browser games. I have tried to get rid of it using all the programs mentioned in the Adware removal section of this website, with no success. I have also tried reinstalling my browser, and resetting it to default settings. It still happens. What should I do? Thank you for any help you provide.Edit: Moved topic from Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs to the more appropriate forum.~ Animal

Hey guys,
I've currently got 4 different browsers installed on my computer (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera). I've had different issues with each and every one of them. Right now I'm using Opera and for the most part it's been pretty good. Although lately it's been starting to act up.

I stopped using IE a year ago because it would just shut down on it's own. Chrome would freeze up. Firefox seems to lag sometimes and now Opera is showing signs of lagging. Lately Opera has become particularly bad with Facebook and is slow to load images. I've removed Opera and reinstalled. All of the browsers are up to date. The computer was reformatted a little while back. Everything is up to date. Virus scans show it's clean. I deleted all temporary internet files, cookies, etc etc. My hard drive has lots of free space on it. I know my internet is supposed to be high speed but sometimes I wonder about that. I've had issues with the modem in the past. So maybe that's one possibility?.
My computer is about 4 years old. Acer model AM3970.
Windows 7 64 bit.
CPU - Intel Core i3 processor 2120
RAM - 4GB DDR3 Memory
HDD - 1TB harddrive.

Can you recommend any other browsers that might be better than what I'm using?. Any help would be appreciated.

A:Multiple Browsers with multiple issues

Hi Classic2016, welcome to the Forum.

As you are having issues with all browsers, the logical possibility is your modem or internet speed.

Does your computer perform properly when not using the internet. If so the check in Device Manager for any modem driver issues. If all seems well there then, the modem itself may be the cause.

Hello all.

My name is Ryan and thank you for the help in advance.

In the past I have been very successful eliminating malware and viruses from my PC.  Usually a great software will catch it, or you need to look in your task management to see what is running etc - basically I have done well.  But this is perplexing.

(Also this guy who posted had what I have http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/554692/advertising-pop-up-redirecting-spyware-and-malware-in-all-my-network-devices/)

On all my devices, PC, Tablet and Phone (all droid for tablet and phone) I am having massive problems with redirects to both website pages and to the google play store.  My girlfriends phone and tablet (both droid) are doing the same thing.

I found on my PC I could right click and "open in new tab" anywhere, regardless if it was on a link or not, and it would show and open a redirect tab.    I found a program called "Lucky Leap" and removed it through malware and kaspersky internet software.  But still I have issues with redirects on all devices, most prominently on my tablet and phone now.

I bring up all three devices, as well as the GFs because they must be related to the network and/or Google Chrome.  Five devices do no just get the same issue randomly in the same few days - just too coincidental.

I have read a lot of the forums on here.  Have run the malware software your site suggests:

I have read multiple threads on BleepingComputer.com, and followed the directions exactly, but still no success.  I will upload the Addition.txt file from Farbar in this post, and I will post results from SuperAntiSpyware and SecurityCheck.exe in a follow-up post.

A:Constant beeping on startup, and windows automatically closing. Web browsers stopping

Constant beeping is always some sort of warning. Does your laptop have a video card that could possibly have become disconnected? Is your memory seated tightly. When a ram module becomes loose, it too can cause a beeping. Good Luck. I'm sorry, but I don't know anything about laptops otherwise.

I want to use the audio simultaneously from my ati 4550 HDMI, Sony blue-tooth speaker via usb BT dongle, 3.5mm jacks on my mobo, and also from a spdif and digital coax linked to the mobo via on board header to expansion bracket with ports.

I know this all may sound like overkill, however I don't have the funds for high end switches / replicators, etc. So manually changing them has been a hassle.

I have done some reading and I know se7en doesn't let you. I did this with xp x64.

Anyone know of a "work-around" or hack to enable all devices at once?

I use w10 on 3 devices, a mid range gaming PC, linx7 tablet, and lumia640. On the whole the experience is pretty good, syncing works well, reminders, alarms, contacts etc. This was one of the reasons I opted for android early, using chrome on a PC gave a similar, yet skimmed down, one OS feel.
I've not had one BSOD since updating the 'rig', my mobile works great, and the tablet is amazing for ?49! I was talking to my father in law who uses all 3 main OSs every day, and we both agree that windows just feels more 'grown up' than iOS or android. He wants a win10 phone next to replace his android (he'll have to keep the company iPhone4).
So like I said, does anyone else have a similar experience?

A:Who else uses w10 across multiple devices?

yeah i have no probs with my Lumia 920, HP work laptop and 2 of table computers at home.

Hi rhone81,

Welcome to Tech Support Forum!

I apologize for the delay getting to your log. The helpers here are all volunteers and we have been very busy here lately. If you are still having malware problems, I will be glad to help.

OK, let?s do this first.

BEFORE BEGINNING, Please read completely through the instructions below. Please also print these instructions or copy them to Notepad (or another word processor), and save it for easier reference. This is because we will be in Safe Mode during the fix and you won?t be able to access the Internet to view these instructions.

Do you have Netpumper or Bitgrabber or BitRoll installed? If so, uninstall them via Start -> Control Panel -> Software -> Add or Remove Programs. This is because they are bundled with the malware you are dealing with (Swizzor aka Lop).

Also, please check to see if the following are present in Add or Remove Programs and uninstall them if found:

CiD Manager
CiD Help
Download Plugin for Internet Explorer
Messenger Plus
Messenger Plus 2
Messenger Plus 3
ProCheckTool
Zone Media

If during uninstall, you are asked for uninstall Verification, please enter the numbers that will appear in the window.

Then reboot. <-- Important!

NEXT:

After reboot, please download Deljob.exe and save it on your desktop.

Double-click Deljob.exe.

A log named logit.txt should open afterwards. This log will be present on your desktop.

Please post the contents of the Deljo... Read more

I'm running two browsers, Internet Explorer and (recently added) Mozilla Firefox. I'd like to know if programs I've purchased and loaded into IE will be active on both browsers, or do I need to load them onto Firefox as well. The programs in question are Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Sammsoft Advanced Registry Organizer. I also need to know if the Microsoft Security Essentials system that I activated on Internet Explorer is automatically active for both browsers, or do I need to dial it in on Firefox?

Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit. Home network. Already have 3 printer devices. One printer is All-in-One (HP). Want to keep that device installed and be able to use all functions. Want to add a desk top scanner for speed and versatility. The All-in-One is network cabled and also USB to my desktop computer. The desktop scanner is not network; would be USB to my desktop computer. I seem to recall reading somewhere (not sure of this - maybe HP literature to discourage buying other scanners) that you can't have more than one scanner. Doesn't seem logical. Is more than one scanner (using only one at any one time) OK?

A:Are Multiple Scanner Devices OK?

As far as I know you have as many usb devices hooked up to one computer. There is a theoretical limit of 124, but it really is determined on how many usb ports you have as to how many usb devices you can hook up. Each device has it's own driver/software package, so I don't see any real reason you couldn't. I know for a fact you can have a printer (all in one) and scanner hooked up at the same time. My dad did using XP, Lexmark all in one printer and an HP scanner.

You can't have sound from both at same time - it's either one or other because the headphone jack is designed to mute the speakers when headphones are plugged into it.

I would like to connect a variety of wireless devices in my house to my work VPN while allowing other devices in the house access to my home network as normal.

I was hoping to find a wireless ADSL router that allows me to associate a LAN port to a VPN connection, then connect a wireless access point to that port. I could then run two wireless networks in my house, one that would connect to my work VPN and the other that would not.

Is there such a router?

If not, is there some other way of doing what I need?

Also have two programmes on the Desk Top that again repeate the mail : Windows Live Mail and Mozilla Thunderbird. This causes untold mail and most annoying. How can I just see the mail once on either of the computers. We run Windows 7 on the Lap Top and Desk Top, the Ipad is the current model.

Hope you can assist me please, my husband and self are not very computer literate.

A:Email Across Multiple Devices

The closest thing would be to set them all up as IMAP instead of POP accounts. That way you get all the same email, the same deletions and moves, and the same emails marked as read across all devices. It doesn't quite prevent you from seeing the email more than once unless you move that email to another folder or delete it in which case the same thing will happen on the rest of the devices.

You would have to check with your email service to see if they support IMAP and to get the correct settings. Or post your email provider here.

Also, I changed the title of your thread from your name to something more meaningful.

So here's the setup:

Windows Home Premium X64, 8GB Ram, I5-3570K CPU

Recently built. I understand there's been an issue with Windows 7 using different devices for audio outputs. I was told by MS IT to use Virtual Audio Cable (VAC) for 'combining' my programs/devices into the same output.

My computer is mostly built for Audio recording (Audacity, Adobe Audition), and virtual instrumentation (Reason 5, FL Studio, Abelton, etc...)

My issue is that while some of these programs work well with VAC, key important ones such as Reason 5 do not. With my particular soundcard and driver, there is a degree of latency between the time I press a note on the keyboard to when I can actually hear it.

FL Studio automatically bundles ASIO4ALL - an awesome '0 latency' driver pack that comes with a easy to use control menu. ASIO4ALL is automatically selected as the audio card driver.

However I am unable to use VAC whilst keeping the latency low at the same time.

I need some help if you please!

A:Multiple Devices - VAC not working for needs.

I have a Sonar X2 (Producer) studio. Something like your questions would be better answered on a board such as www.gearslutz.com where recording and DAW equipment is the topic of the forum.

I don't like ASIO4ALL, it can cause problems. I've had problems with trying to use it when I had a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40. I've seen other posts (on other forums) about ASIO4ALL problems.

I have a Roland Octa-Capture and an MAudio Fastrack Ultra 8R and I only use the drivers supplied by Roland and MAudio.

Hi, I recently purchased a HP Pavilion dv6974 Laptop, it came installed with Vista 64-bit. It works fine and all, just one thing I want to figure out.

The laptop has built-in speakers, a built-in mic, 2 headphone jacks and 1 microphone jack. I plugged my headset into one of the headphone jacks, my headset microphone into the microphone jack, and my external speakers into the second headphone jack.

What I wish to do is to set it up in a way that I can play music through my speakers, and Ventrilo through my headset.

The way I did this before on my desktop was that there was this option in the Realtek Audio Manager called "enable playback multi-stream" that separated the two audio jacks on the computer (one in the back, and one in the front). Then I was able to choose a different audio driver for Ventrilo, and use the default one for music. This was on XP, and I only had one sound card btw.

And now for Vista, I've tried looking through the Audio Device Manager and the Realtek Audio Manager but couldn't find anything that would help much, except in the Realtek Audio Manager there's this "tie up all input jacks something something, etc" that sounded like it was what I was looking for, but all it did was mess up my microphone.

To add more to this confusion, there is actually another audio device in the Audio Device Manager, but it's the Digital Audio Receiver, and I don't really know what that does.

I've asked about this problem elsewhere, and some peopl... Read more

hi, i'm relatively new here, so i'm not really sure how to do this but alot of my games are having problems i.e. ? has cause in invalid page fault in unknown. I am led to believe it is a soundcard problem, i use an onboard sound card with the VIA VT1612A 2-channel audio Codec and i look in multimedia properties under audio devices, i had two different ones, Audio for via Ac'97 Enhanced Audio Controller(WDM), and Audio for Vinyl AC'97 Codec Combo Driver (WDM), i was told by a friend to uninstall the drivers and then reinstall to fix this, i did, now on top of those two devices i have a second Audio for Vinyl AC'97 Codec Combo Driver (WDM). I also have three MIDI for WDM-based Device. ANd Mixer for VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller (WDM), along with two Mixer for Vinyl AC'97 Codec Combo Driver (WDM),this may be normal, but like i said i'm relatively new at this and it doesn't really look normal, so can someone please help me? Thank You
firebrand_24

A:need help, multiple audio devices

Look at the back of your computer. Do you have onboard sound AND a seperate PCI sound card? If so then you need to disable the onboard sound in the BIOS setup and use only the PCI sound card.

Now go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall ALL VIA AC97, AC97, Vinyl audio drivers and anything else that looks like it goes to sound drivers.

Then go to Device Manager and uninstall/remove all remaining VIA/Vinyl/AC97 devices listed under the Multimedia heading. Reboot only after all are removed.

Then download the latest VIA Vinyl drivers. When you first run the new driver setup program it will look to see if there are still drivers installed, if it finds any then it give you the option to uninstall them. Do that and reboot.

Then run the VIA installation again and install the drivers, and reboot.

At any point Windows may redetect the sound card and want to reinstall the drivers - let it. Do NOT click Cancel on the Found New Hardware Wizard. If all goes well prior to install the latest driver the sound card should be detected as a PCI Multimedia Device and that means all the drivers will have been removed.

Here's the latest drivers: http://www.viaarena.com/Driver/Vinyl_AudioCode_v600a_M.zip
They are in a ZIP file, once extracted you need to run the SETUP.EXE file to install the drivers.

Ok, this isn't really pc related, but I'm sure it's an issue many of you face every day. I have a PDA/GPS, cell, bluetooth headset and blackberry. I use each every day, which means every night I have to plug all four devices in to charge. Does anyone know of some kind of charging station that would house all four power adapters neatly and allow me to charge all four devices from one outlet? Is there some kind of travel charger that would let me plug all four devices in to charge at once? Such a hassle taking all four adapters every time I travel.

Thanks

I use laptop, with system speaker volume too low, almost inaudible.
It has inbuilt sigmatel HD audio, with 3.5 mm jack ( I do connect my headphone with it).
I also posses a bluetooth headset (DELL).

Is there any way I can get output to both the headsets?

I need this to watch movie, so that me and my room partner can easily listen via saperate sets fo headphone without difficulty.

A:using multiple sound devices

as far as i know you cannot output to two audio devices at the same time from one program unless the program alows this (eg. PCDJ)

To solve the problem you could get a 3.5mm spliter and another set of 3.5mm headphones but this would probably require a trip to an electronics shop unless you have one already.

also post what OS you are running in case someone else knows of another way.

Hi,

I have an ethernet connection running from a router to another room and I wonder if I could use that single connection for multiple devices (computer, game systems, etc). Will a hub work for a connection coming from a router?
Is it possible to have them all up and running simultaneously or does it have to be one device at a time?

Thanks,

A:Single IP, multiple devices

If it's a standard SOHO router, and not a switch or a modem, you can have up to 253 devices attached. (There are 256 addresses available, but you can't use the first or last address, and one is reserved for the gateway--the router itself.) Note that the 253 addresses includes wireless devices.

What is it?

1. Something causes occasional ad popups via the directrdr.com site.

2. In Task Manager, multiple versions of iexplore.exe show up over time, even if I don't manually launch IE8. If I don't shut them down, everntually browsing speed slows down significantly, as well as taking longer to input text within a browser. Also notice multiple versions of svchost.exe in Task Manager (sometimes 6-8 at a time)..

Attach.txt and ark.txt are included in the attached Attach.zip file. DDS.txt is pasted below.

Yes, that will be ok. I use IE9, Chrome, Firefox and Pale Moon with no problems or conflicts.

When you install Firefox, it will ask if you want to set it as the default browser. This option can be changed later in Options if you change your mind.

IE7 is not very secure. You might want to consider updating to IE8 or 9.

I use Slimbrowser exclusively. I would like to ask if IE is neccessary or can I remove it? Does Slimbrowser and other browsers rely on IE to function? Task manager shows that it is running all the time taking up 38,280K. Do other functions of the system rely on it as well?

Will someone please enlighten me on this issue....

Hi,

I've read through a could of threads but have yet to find any answers for my problem. Basically my internet runs fine when a device is directly connected to my modem. However, when running through a router I get 2-10 second disconnects at random intervals on all devices hooked up to the router, be it wired or wireless. I've already tired three different router, all different brands, among other various things like updating/switch firmware and changing the router over to a new wall socket with no luck. I had my service provider come out and switch the modem, but that didn't help any. Any help would be appreciated.

A:Internet cutting out on multiple devices.

what cable is between the router and modem - has this been changed ?
you mention "wall socket"
As you have made a lot of changes to the modem and to the router(s) - i can only think of cable

Before making each connection , do a powercycle - see how below

connect with a small cable between the modem and PC - and that works fine
then with a 2nd cable - do the same
now you have two cables that you know work on the modem
Also while in that configuration post an ipconfig /all - see how below

then using the same cables - connect from the modem to the router
and using the known cable connect the PC to the router
Now test again and see if this time it works
ipconfig /all

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply
Note: you will see entries named Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface: we dont need to see that information - JUST the information above those entries

I've googled this endlessly with no result and I'm guessing it isn't possible but I may as well ask.

My laptop has one audio/mic port. I'm cheap and had a splitter laying around, my headphones, and a set of ear buds with a mic on it I combined to use as a headset.

This works fine, however, since the sound output is being split to both my ear buds and headphones, it doesn't sound as good and some things are faint, which isn't good for gaming.

Is there a way to manage my audio devices so that my ear buds is mic only and no sound, and my headphones get all the sound? I've found no options in Windows, just playback (speakers) and recording (mic). I assume because it's only one jack it isn't, but it can't hurt to ask.

I have an Xbox One, Windows Phone, and Windows 10 laptop. I have Hey Cortana enabled on all of them. I use it all the time on Xbox to control my tv volume and channel. I use it while I'm driving on my phone. I don't use it that often on my laptop, but sometimes I will use it to change songs or something while I am working. The point is, I have fairly justifiable reasons to have it enabled on 3 devices.
So lets say I'm watching football. I have my fantasy stuff up on my laptop, and my phone is near bye because its always there. I decide I want to mute the TV, so I say "Hey Cortana, Mute". The result? My Tv mutes, my phone and my laptop both tell me that they cant perform that function. I do that same with volume up? Same result.
Later, I say "Hey Cortana, call Wife". The result? My Xbox and TV either try to open Skype or give me an error while my phone calls my wife.
So year, having the same "Hey Cortana" voice commands for 3 devices was a poor idea. "Xbox, Mute" worked fine. I mean, I do feel like Cortana does a better job of understanding what I am telling it to do, but couldn't it have stayed as Xbox commands rather than Hey Cortana? I could just turn it off on my laptop and be happy with it, but I actually use it for my phone and my xbox.
Imagine when people actually start buying Surface Phones (if that ever happens). What were they thinking?

A:Hey Cortana... multiple devices... what were they thinking?

Lucky sod, we have three Xbox Ones, two PC's two Surfaces and three Cortana enabled Windows phones in our flat, we have discovered the meaning behind the phrase "She who's name must not be spoken"

Does anyone know if Windows 8 will intergrate multiple output devices to play at the same time? Windows 7 doesn't do it... which is stupid. Pirates will always find a way to bypass this, but I'm stuck without this important feature!!! This is absolutely CRUCIAL for HTPC (home theatre PC) people and/or DJ's or Music producers / Artists. I also use audio levelers like SRS audio essentials which is considered another audio playback device. This is truly ridiculous that I paid all of this money for Windows 7 and I can't play to 2 sets of speakers at the same time. And if I want to switch to headphones for a second for any particular reason, i have to go through a process... and make it the default device and when I want to go back to watching tv I have to go through the process again...... SO ANNOYING..... it's my computer, I should be able to play to ALLLLLLLL of my devices. That's why I buy all these devices so I can use them all simultaneously. This is so basic. Can you please update Windows 7 with multiple playback on all devices. I don't copyright infringe or rip dvd's to external sources, but even if I was a shady individual, which I'm NOT, I don't need multiple playback device to do this. You're only hurting ME, the consumer that pays for things I use. It's MADDENING. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR PLAYBACK DEVICES TO INCLUDE SIMULTANEOUS OUTPUT PLAYBACK TO ALL DEVICES.... OR AT LEAST SEVERAL... I mean really... for this stage of technology, this is totally ridiculous.

Under XP, when I played an MP3 it would come out of my headphones and my SPDIF port to my AMP at the same time. Under vista I seem to have to choose and keep changing them manually (setting one as default) . Also, when I change them, it doesn't seem to take effect till I restart that application, mp3 player, movie player or whatever.

I seem to have similar issues with mic vs line-in. and switching between them doesn't always seem to work if in use and Mute options also seem to not kick in.

I read some scare stories about DRM but I'm not sure that this is relevent or not .

In XP, this just worked. sound would go into the IN's and come out of the OUTs and could be muted where needed. Does this work differently now?

I'm not entirely sure if this is a Windows Sound issue or a hardware issue, so I'm asking this question both here and in a Windows Community Forum. Is it possible to output audio to multiple devices (i. e., can one assign more than one "Default Device")?  For example, can I output to the USB-S/P-Dif device connected to my stereo and the bluetooth device driving my outdoor speakers simultaneously? I have an Envy dv7-7255dx, with the IDT Hi-Def audio codec, running 64-bit Windows 10 Home. Thanks!

So my household needs to upgrade internet. Our internet speeds are slow (3mbps) and my mom works at home with various computer programs as she processes documents and claims. She cannot deal with the lag in her internet speed caused by my brother playing his new xbox one (which I've heard takes up the internet like no other) and me browsing the net all at once.

I'm asking because I don't know about internet speeds, our current plan in our area is the best one (I know 3mbps is not alot) but apparently that is the highest service AT&T U-verse provides.

So I'm wondering if anyone knows what would be a good speed for internet considering all of this, it know this isn't exactly a computer problem but I wouldn't know where else to ask.

Thank you for your help!

No problem, this is the right section to ask in.

Now I'm a bit confused as to whether your potential Internet speed would be 3Mbps or 5Mbps (conflicting information in title and post). Either way, you're right that that isn't very much bandwidth. Your mom should be able to do her computer work assuming the file transfers she performs involve smaller Word, PDF, and text documents. The primary factors here will be what you do while web browsing, and the Xbox One connection.

You likely won't be able to play Xbox and stream video well simultaneously - that isn't even taking into account possible file transfers of your mom's.

I'm not sure where you live, but most developed areas in the United States have Internet speeds much higher than this. I recommend doing some research online to find out if this truly is your only option. With modern Internet content, I would say ~10Mbps is a good minimum recommendation for a pleasant browsing experience.

If you cannot find/get an Internet connection with increased bandwidth, then you all may need to dedicate times for certain activities on the Internet.

I have a dell dimension 2400 that I think is going kaput. I've had to format one drive twice and an alternate drive once (merely to test that the first hard drive wasn't the issue.) My primary problem and reason for my first reinstall was an OS hanging issue probably due to some hardware conflict somewhere - various solutions such as safe mode, repairing install and fixboot would not work (scared to use fixmbr without first checking all my options.)

Three soft formats later and both of my hard drive installs are ticking my ethernet adapter, among other devices, with a question mark. As an example, I've used the OEM disks provided for the 3com 4011 integrated ethernet controller, selected the appropriate driver and ended up with a code 10 on it. I boot to safe made and check all the hidden devices for obvious conflicts but no such luck, there are no other NICs installed on my PC and the rest cannot be removed ("you need this device to boot" message on uninstall attempt")

Does anyone know where I can find out which resources my device wants to use?
quick edit: it is XP
could it be a ghost device driver sucking up resources from a previous install?

question the third: HAAALP! according to the utility partition manager my system is in full working order (ha.)

many thanks for your gratuitous help.

OK,
So on my home network, we have your normal cable modem, router, and gigabit switch setup. The router is a high speed linksys model (gigabit), and the gigabit switch is an 8 port. The ethernet goes all through the house, but I've recently built a media room. In this room I have a Zensonic High-def network dvd player for streaming media, a gaming/media pc, an xbox 360, ps3, modded xbox 1 for more media streaming and a wii. The wii isn't really relevant to the problem because it is wifi, but I'm proud of my media room.

The problem was that I needed to network all of these, and when the house was built, we only ran one ethernet port into the room. No big deal I thought, because as long as I'm just streaming media, a 10/100 switch would be sufficient. So I pulled out an old hub (not a switch). All of these devices were hooked up and it worked great. Then one day, it all just stopped. The hub was old, so I ran out and got a netgear fs605 switch on sale for 5 bucks at office depot. This still hasn't fixed the problem, but has helped me diagnose it. When I plug in the uplink, I get a blinking response. When I plug in the next device, it works and is recognized. However, every device after that causes the switch to stop working and just start blinking. No activity, it looks like an error code of some kind. Have I put too much on this little switch? It was working just fine for months on just a hub. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Hi there.
I am using my phones 3G to type this and it's a real nuisance since I cannot research information for essays and other important aspects that I need when studying for my A levels.

Anyway, it started last night around 11pm, everything died and I thought it was because of the bad weather.
I woke up to sunshine however the internet was still not working.

The router is a SuperHub 2 and it had no problems up till now, the lights for 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz are flashing and so are the other lights on the router - this the router is working.

The problem is the connectivity, I use my laptop, iPhone and computer all together when studying and playing games. All of which has the same problem. All have the 5 bars connectivity however they all say "no internet access" and no response from the DNS servers.

What is the problem then?

What I've done:
- I have release and renewed the IPs
- reset router numerous times
- turned on: off router numerous times
- fiddled with wires to make sure they're plugged in.
- turned on and off computers and laptops.
- set IvP4 to automatic.
- waited hours.
- went onto the Virgin Media router page via 192.168.0.X. Then I started the router up in factory status, starting I up a few times.

How do I fix this nuisance? I need the internet now, for work purposes.
Please help, since it's affecting me and my family members and all of our devices.

A:No internet access on multiple devices

Does the Virgin Media router page give you a status of the WAN?

We had a bad storm last week and it took a few days after power was restored for Comcast to repair their lines.

I was able to get to my router, but the WAN address was 0.0.0.0 - can't get there from here!

If you have a WAN address, turn everything off (no power) then
power up your cable modem, wait a few minutes for it to cycle through what it cycles through
power up your router (if seperate) wait for it to cycle through what it cycles through
finally power up your machine and check the network status on the Virgin Media router

If you don't have a WAN address, report the outage to your provider. They probably already know about your area, but a call never hurts.

New box is together. Windows 8.1 64-bit.

When I look at my drives in file explorer, a couple drives have multiple drive letters...

For example, my data backup drive, which is only one partition, shows up as drive "Int data backup (T(T(T" - unfortunately, it keeps changing the colon and closing parentheses to that goofy smiley face.

Same for a couple others... I've never seen this before in Windows 7, so what is this? Do I need to do something about it?

Also, in "Devices and Printers" from the control panel, I have FOUR occurrences of "DIRECTV2PC Media Server" and FOUR occurrences of "DIRECTV Mediashare Renderer"

Do they have anything to do with the multiple drive letters? What the heck are they for? And can I delete them?

I realize this is a forum for Windows 7, but I don't know where else to ask this question lol.

Earlier I made a thread about my mom's computer being unable to reinstall Windows 7 after a factory reset. I think I've found a possible fix for this, but I'm not entirely sure.

I'm currently in the process of installing Windows 10 on my own computer via the Windows Creation Tool, and I noticed that it gave me the option to not only install W10 on my own computer, but another's through a Flash Drive as well.

So my question: after I've installed Windows 10 on my own computer, would it be possible to also put a copy onto my flash drive to install Windows 10 on my mom's computer as well? And if so, can I bypass the product key requirement to get to the desktop? I've got some code that I used to grab my own product key in order to install Windows 10 for myself, which I can also use to retrieve my mom's product key if I can get to her desktop to open Notepad.

I've never booted a computer via flash drive, so I don't know whether or not I can do this. I don't have her product key, and I can only get it if I can access her desktop (unless there's another way, because the product key on the back of her laptop is too faded to read).

Thanks in advance!

A:Installing Windows 10 on Multiple Devices?

Once you've made an install flash drive (or DVD or iso) from the Microsoft site, you can use it to upgrade any number of qualifying computers (genuine activated Windows 7 SP1) to Windows 10 without needing a serial. It must be the correct edition ie Windows 7 Home Premium needs a Windows 10 Home flash drive. A sneaky upgrade attempt from Home to Pro will appear to work, but won't activate (you will prob be nagged to buy the correct serial sometime in the future).

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

re : booting from flash - I found that the upgrade didn't work in that scenario. I had to run setup.exe from within Windows 7. If a clean install is your goal, once Windows 10 is installed, you can boot from the install media (flash, DVD etc) and install again, deleting all partitions. You don't need a serial for this, because MS 'remembers' the hardware and activates it accordingly. If you do this, all data and apps are deleted.

Edit - if your mom's computer isn't actually running, you won't be able to upgrade it to W10 for free.

Have attempted update of various drivers via Device Manager web search.

The affected HP Media Center m7463w computer worked fine (had Vista installed) before I replaced it with another computer to manage media. The HP was in hibernation (off/unplugged) for several months. When I revived it, power supply did not work. I replaced it and began experiencing the BSOD with Vista. Replaced power supply again. No change. Upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium. No improvement.

I had a computer become infected with some malware, and spam viruses, I don't know what all of them where but I'll list a couple. smitfraud-c.gp and virtumonde.dll where the two that where hardest to remove. I got everything cleaned up but now websites have broken images. This happens with all sites that I've tried. I upgraded from IE 6 to 7 and tried Firefox, and get the same results. Anyone have similar experiences, or advice?

Thanks in advance.

A:Broken Images (multiple Browsers)

Well, doesn't look like it makes sense to anyone else either. I'll post what I found out in case it helps anyone else later on. I can't figure out what could possibly be the problem, but booting from the XP CD and running the repair doesn't fix it. The problem seems to be limited to profiles that where logged in to while the system was infected. So I logged into an account that hadn't been accessed during that time and deleted the profiles (just the data for the profile, not the user from Active Directory / Computer Management) that had the problem. I also copied the good profile over the default user, but I don't know if that step was necessary. When the user logs back in their profile is re-created from the default user, and doesn't have the problem. Make sure you backup the My Documents, Desktop, Favorites, and email from the profiles you delete, so you can restore them after the profile is re-created.

Hope that helps someone in the future

Mike

I use Windows 7 64 at work and generally use Chrome, but sometimes Firefox.

I noticed last week in Chrome that certain text across multiple websites seemed formatted incorrectly. It looks like Arial Bold Italic. I first checked my settings to make sure it wasn't set as a default font for some reason (although I always have browsers set to allow the website to choose) and it was not. Today I notice that the same thing is happening in Firefox! Again, the settings are fine. Any ideas?

This seems to be a Windows issue since it is across multiple browsers, but I really have no idea.

About a week or so ago I had a virus that blacked out my screen and hid all of my files/icons/etc. It posted a message trying to get me to buy some software that would "fix" my computer. I found the necessary anti-virus solutions and "unhide" capability to get everything back. But since then I have a problem with unwanted redirections from both google and yahoo search engines on both Chrome and Firefox. I can do a google or yahoo search, but then when I click on one of the displayed search results it takes me to various advertisement websites. In the same session, I can use the back button a couple of times to get back to the google/yahoo search results and try again -- it will do these several times during this session and then it will let me start clicking on the search results without any unwanted redirects to advertising sites. If I close out the browser and restart a session, the redirects start allover again. I have spent the last four days researching and doing thing to try and clean this up. I have run multiple malware/spyware/anti-virus solutions (AVG, Malwarebytes, Super Anti-spyware, SpyBot, Ad-Aware - Lavasoft, and probably a couple of more) to NO avail. Well I've had this problem for a while, and I can't for the life of me figure it out. Whenever I have firefox open, and I want to open a new window and click on the firefox quick-launch icon, or whenever I click a link while FF is open, I get the "choose user profile" prompt. The only way I can open a new window is with going into firefox and "ctrl+n." This is especially irritating when clicking links in AIM, etc. and I have to go, copy the link, open the new browser and then paste. I've tried reinstalling firefox, and changing my setting to open external links in new tabs, and in the same window. It still doesn't work. Any help is appreciated.

Thank-you very much ===========Hello While we understand your frustration at having to wait, please note that Bleeping Computer deals with several hundred requests for assistance such as yours on a daily basis. As a result, our backlog is quite large as are other comparable sites that help others with malware issues. Although we try to take DDS/HJT logs in order (starting with the oldest), it is often the skill level of the particular helper and sometimes the operating system that dictates which logs get selected first. I'm sure I'm not the only TSG member with multiple web browsers installed, so I'm curious as to how others install Flash updates. I first tried to update Flash in Firefox, and the install failed. No details as to why. It just displayed "Error" in the Adobe Download Manager window. I restart Firefox and discovered Flash had been completely removed. Then I was able to install the latest version.

Then I opened IE and tried to update Flash, and it simply will not update. I don't get an error. The download and install process completes, and then I get the message that Flash is successfully installed, but it's still the same old version.

I had these same problems the last time I tried to update Flash. I ended up having to remove it through Programs and Features (Win 7), and then when I installed it in one or the other browser, both were updated. And I had the same problem on two different Windows 7 computers, so it's not just an issue with one install.

How do others update Flash on multiple browsers?

She primarily uses Chrome, but I have also tested Edge and Firefox. I have tried scanning with Windows Defender, Malwarebytes, AdAware, SpyBot, ADW Cleaner and Junk Removal Tool. Nothing has solved the problem. I appreciate any help you can provide.

Hi,
I started getting multiple browsers instantiate seconds apart when I walk away from my computer. Hundreds of them when I get back. I wondered if it was a seamonkey thing, but I'm not sure. What I could find here shows there is nothing in the combofix logs of smiler complaints. I have never run with anti virus and I really don't think I have that kind of problem now. But I want to make sure. (#Deleted#) The URL is something like c://Temp/~?/something3.php. I didn't copy it because my reaction is kill when this happens. If there is a next time, I'll grab the URL

Thanks to anyone that can give me a hint.

(P.S. Last night I only had the mail window open and away from the computer for an hour. Then my NPR feed suddenly started, (real player), that I start with a browser link to a link. And there were a couple of hundered browser windows open!. If this is a virus, it had to get into my seamonkey history. Weird is all I can say.)

Thanks, Dan.

Hello, recently Internet Explorer has been popping up (some of the time in the backround where I can only hear the sounds from the site but not see the browser itself) with random ads from sites like redorbit.com

It seems to stop when something labeled dmpo53ka.exe in task manager is closed, but it resumes anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour or so later.

Download ComboFix here :

Link 1
Link 2
* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. Here is a guide on how to disable them

Click me
Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt log in your next reply.

Well first off i'm going to mention that this is my mothers computer that i'm trying to fix and i'm not totally sure what was done to it.

It is a Dell XPS m1710 laptop. Running windows XP SP3.

I've noticed that not all images are loading or shown in multiple browsers. IE7, and firefox.

To try and remedy the problem i've done the following things so far. updated adobe flash, upgraded IE7 to IE8, installed and tried Firefox 3.0.1. Ran a virus scan with SUPERAntiSpyware. and Updated Java.

What's really stumping me is that the problem is appearing in multiple browsers so i'm thinking that there might have been a malware of some sort in the past that made a change to the registry or services.

I could also provide a hijack this file if that would help and i'm attaching a screenshot of a webpage that i know well so that you can compare it yourself to what it SHOULD look like.

The website is http://www.gamereplays.org

and a link to the hijack this log

A:Not all images are shown with multiple browsers.

What images are not loading? What is loading in their place? For instance, when images are disabled in the browser, you usualy get a little red x that marks where the image should be. When you are missing an app, such as flash, you usually get an icon and a message stating Flash is missing. Many pop-up blockers also block the ads/images and put icons/messages in their place.

While i had Malware Defense i was having problems with Mozilla (my main internet browser) crashing and i figured it was due to the virus however i would be able to restore the session so other then an inconvenience it wasn't much of a problem. However after removing the virus (i think, there hasn't been any more popups or anything) Mozilla was fine for maybe an hour or two and then it closed without an error message and when i went to restart it noting came up. So i restarted my computer and tried to start Mozilla and again it would not open so i moved to internet explorer. This stayed open long enough for me to get to google before it as well closed and it is having the same problems as Mozilla. I am currently using Safari without problems but i don' t want to leave the problem be and have it come and take safari as well. All three of these browsers were installed before my computer got infected but after the problem with mozilla and internet explorer i decided to download google chrome as a back up incase safari stopped working however once i click on a link it closes as well making it all but useless. Firefox gets stuck on "Connecting to..." and Chrome gets stuck on Sending Request...

It only happens on certain random sites (one being speedtest.net for example) while everything works fine on other sites, such as youtube. I checked my host files and everything lookded fine(it was empty), I emptied my cache on Chrome, I scanned for viruses and such using Bitdefender, I contacted my interent provider and they said everything was fine on their end too.

The only other problem that seems to be associated with this one is the fact that my ping will occasionally spike really high. Also, when I go to other sites like speakeasy.com to check my connection speed since I can't access speed test, the connection will rarely show around 11 mbps instead of the usual 30; but when I retest the connection speed again, it will come up fine. This problem has been occurring since yesterday fyi.

A:Can't Access Certain Sites Across Multiple Browsers

Seems to be working now. Windows auto-restarted for an update while I was sleeping and upon reboot, everything seemed fine. I can access speedtest.net and everything checks out. I'll reply to this thread if anything changes.

Hello,

I am in need of some assistance with my IE 10 browser, but the problem only happens while using the default MSN homepage.

After closing the web browser a number of times while on MSN, multiple browsers will suddenly reopen. I have noticed that when the browsers reopen, the url is a little different from the original. Here is an example of what some of the urls might look like below.

MSN.com

But when I change my default homepage to another search engine, such as google, yahoo, or bing, this problem does not occur. It only happens on the msn website.

Just today, I have discovered what is causing the browser to do this and it is the TrueSuiteService application that is part of the HP Simplepass program that is already pre-installed on my laptop. When disabled, the problem no longer occurs. However; when it is enabled, the problem will reoccur after a certain amount of times opening and closing the browser.

Here is a screenshot of the application disabled below.

But, here are two screenshots of all the applications that are enable on startup.

Either way, I am unsure of which direction I should take to solve this matter completely. Please help me.

Thank you for your assistance.

Multiple IE 10 Browsers Reopen After Closing Default Homepage (MSN - Microsoft Community

Quote from the other thread,
I followed the instructions within the clean boot about background applications and it worked. I discovered that the background TrueSuiteService application from HP in the services tab was what was causing the problem. After disabling it, I no longer had multiple browsers opening up. However, it still boggles my mind that how come it would be this application causing this issue? Also I notice that all the HP products are labeled "Hewlett-Packard Company" in the manufacturer status however; the disabled application is only labeled "HP" as the manufacturer? Could this possibly be a hidden virus on my computer? If so, how do I remove it? end of Quote

Hello Everyone, I have recently noticed that when I use either Internet Explorer or Google Chrome, that there are multiple processes running. This is putting my CPU at almost 100% at times. When try to play games on facebook it is even worse, making the sound lag as well. At times there have been up to 10 processes of IE/Google Chrome running at one time (for whatever one I am using at the time. I have tried both browsers because I was hoping it was just an issue with Google Chrome but it happens no matter what one I choose. I've tried uninstalling both browsers and reinstalling them, clearing cache, cookies, history, as well as system restore, defragmenting my disk, clearing out old active x, moving old files and pictures to flash drive to gain memory. I've even tried ending other processes that I am currently not using or that the computer doesn't "need" to function to try and boost the performance (ex. Itunes, DIVX...). Nothing works!! I truly feel that it is an issue with the multiple instances of google chrome/IE running that is doing this as I have no problems doing any other tasks on my computer. Okay, so I moved my wireless router to a more central location in my house (I got low signal in my room) and since then I've been able to connect to the network but only with limited access. Trying to connect to a webpage results in the "DNS lookup failed" error message (Chrome). My brother's computer had had the same issue, and the PlayStation 3 has had connectivity issues also, however I have been able to use my phone with the WiFi without any issues.

I've tried unplugging/turning the router on and off to no effect. Using a different router does not change the situation either. When I try to diagnose the network connection, it says that it could not identify the problem. Any ideas?

Some information:

Both computers run Windows 8
My phone is a Nokia Lumia 620 running WP8
The WiFi status window states that IPv4 and IPv6 have no internet access
My computer uses a Qualcomm Atheros AR5B125 wireless network adapter and says it is working correctly. The adapter is set to work with IPv4/6. IPv4 is set to obtain IP & DNS addresses automatically.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

For a Windows PC ...

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page (don't collapse the Radar, Connection or Signal History) of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector. If your only email accounts are free (Hotmail, gmail, etc.) try this direct link. If you need help with a screen shot see TSG Posting a Screenshot. FWIW to take screen shots with Windows 8 or 7 or Vista I prefer to use the built-in Snipping Tool.

Identify your network if it is not obvious.

Also show ...

Open a (black) Command Prompt window:
Hold the Windows logo key and press r; in the Run box type cmd and click on OK.

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.
