Overactive Pop-up Blocker

Q: Overactive Pop-up Blocker

I have an overactive pop-up blocker that is blocking things I don't want blocked such as the message I get after requesting to stop my flash drive from the USB port ("It is safe to remove the selected device." or something like that). I have disabled the pop-up blockers that I am aware of, but this continues to happen. Does anyone know how to stop it from blocking windows like this? It's not even an internet-related window, which makes it more puzzling.

Thanks!

Hi,I've twice had to exchange a Probook 450 G3, for additional reasons also (faulty power connector), so have had experience with 3 units altogether. All 3 had the same issue, the fan would kick in too often, a few instances a minute, making an up and down whirring sound which was very annoying and distracting. The strange thing is that the fan would kick in when the CPU usage was minimal, <5%, web browsing is the most taxing thing I do, no gaming or intense graphic applications.Never had an issue like this with any other laptop/computer, it's basically brand new so no possibility of dust, too hot environment etc. My 8 year old Dell laptop with much more inferior specs handles these activities easily with infrequent fan noise/activity.The laptop is not getting noticeably hot for the fan to turn on and off so often. Is the G3 so heat inefficient that the CPU gets too hot very easily, or is the fan's thermal sensor temp. range too low and the fan is kicking in unnecessarily? I've updated the BIOS and chipset and already contacted HP support who want me to send it to them, but I explained that this issue happened on all 3 units, revealing that the model design/components could be at fault.Would appreciate any insight/explanation for this.

I can't install/run/activate active X or Flash and this messes up using Microsoft update, PCPitstop and other things. MS includes some sort of error about can't copy MUWEB.DLL but I think that perhaps some security program is blocking things to "protect" me. That is great - except when I need to use these features!
The PC is running XPpro, PcCillin, Spybot, and has run Hitman (SurfRight now disabled) and a couple other one time scans, fixes, and downloads (hosts etc.).

A:Overactive Security or ???

Internet explorer in XP sp2 blocks active x and produces a warning bar on your browser, which allows the active X to be run on subsequent click.

Also i would turn off all products and see if flash etc run then turn each on and see what product is the cause.

I am currently using my IBM Thinkpad T20 (2647) with a basic microsoft hardwired mouse (not usb) with two buttons and the wheel.

The problems is that all of a sudden, the mouse has been behaving like I double click sometimes when I don't. For example, if I am in outlook and open an email, when i click on the red x in the upper right hand corner to shut down the email, it will also shut down the program.

It also will make me go two clicks back instead of one in Explorer and just about anywhere two clicks will cause a different behaviour. It isn't consistent and, for example, when clicking on email, if i simply want to highlight the item if i click it lightly and quickly, it will act like one click but if i give it a normal push, it will often act like a double click and open the email completely.

Any idea what is causing this and how i might fix it.

I am running Windows XP Professional and have uninstalled and reinstalled the mouse to no effect.

thanks

Hi all,

I have been having a strange problem for the past few weeks, and yesterday and today it's the worst ever. It's like everything I do online overcompensates and goes overboard. For example, if I click the "Back" button, it takes me back 3 pages rather than 1. Or if in email (Outlook) I try to click on a new message, instead of just opening it and letting me read the contents, it opens a whole new window to reply in.

I have cleaned out my temp. internet files and cache. I checked the mouse speed and everything is the same there as it's always been. Do you have any idea what could be causing this weird thing to happen?

Admittingly, I know little about networking and WiFi routers.

But I can't help wonder why two lights (labeled Wireless and Ethernet) flash on my Linksys WiFI router when my PC works on a document, searches for a file, or performs other routine functions that don't involve accessing the Internet or LAN.

Is it paranoid to think that information being transmitted despite a firewall and anti-virus software that claims my PC is clean? Or are these router lights flash for reasons other than indicating transmission? Note: they don't flash when the Ethernet cable is disconnected from the PC.

Any help would be appreciated.

Problem emerged with my Win XP netbook today: after booting, it crawled through some simple web browsing. Process Explorer revealed that a couple svchost.exe processes are hogging the processor alternately, making my pc nearly crash while going through a ESET NOD32 virus scan. The problem alleviated when the first svchost.exe crashed and had to be stopped.

The scan turned up nothing, but there were already Win32/VB.PAM, Win32/Kryptik.FON, and Win32/TrojanClicker.Punad.AA trojan files in the quarantine. Also, ESET has blocked 3 connections from a garbled url. I haven't tried scanning in safe mode yet.

An svchost.exe process is currently using half the processor right now, but the computer is usable except for the fact that when transitioning out of a screensaver the computer chugs. I'm including an HJT log, which I have no idea how to read. I'm pretty sure I'm in trouble, but how bad is it?

EDIT: Also, when I first booted up my pc I heard it playing some audio even though I had no internet or media windows open. Suspicious, eh?

Hi,I was hoping others in the same boat, or the HP team representatives could give insight/explanations with an issue with a laptop bought very recently.I've twice had to exchange the Probook 450 G3, for also additional reasons (faulty power connector), so have had experience with 3 units altogether. All 3 had the same issue, the fan would kick in too often, a few instances a minute, making an up and down whirring sound which was very annoying and distracting. The strange thing is that the fan would kick in when the CPU usage was minimum, or at a very low state, web browsing is the most taxing thing I do, no gaming or intense graphic applications. The specs, an i5 6200U with plenty of RAM and an SSD would suggest that it should handle these simple activities with little effort, in fact it was advertised as an Energy Star model at the time, there was a lot of info about how little power it uses.Never had an issue like this with any other laptop/computer, it's basically brand new so no possibility of dust, too hot environment etc. My 8 year old Dell laptop with much more inferior specs handles these activities easily with infrequent fan noise/activity. I would've isolated this as a unique incident except for the fact I noticed the same almost immediately with all three 450 G3s in the short time I had them. The laptop is not getting noticeably hot for the fan to turn on and off so often. Is the G3 so heat inefficient that the CPU gets too hot very easily, or is the fan's ther... I have a Gateway GT5068E PC, with 2 GB RAM and 200 GB disk drive. At power up, it responds very slowly and the disk drive works furiously, so I checked Resource Monitor @ Control Panel, and found that both CPU and RAM usage were often up to 90% or more. Furthermore, there were often over 400 'hard faults' for the RAM. This persisted for an hour or more, after which the CPU usage stayed below 10% and the RAM usage below 40%, with only an occasional 'hard fault' in the RAM. The system was naturally much more responsive. I intend to double my RAM, to 4 GB (the limit), and may get faster chips (666 vs 533, I believe). Does anyone know why the system thrashes so much for an hour after starting, and why there are copious hard faults reported for RAM? And is there any way to determine what speed the RAM chips are running, without disassembling the PC? (I disassembled it yesterday, when my daughter returned it, and cleaned it thoroughly.) Secondly, this Windows 7 Pro OS was installed only about 6 months ago, and does not, I believe, have much unnecessary software running under it. But Task Manager reports dozens of processes soon after start up, including MsMpEng.exe, which often consumes half of the CPU. And I noticed that 'TrustedInstaller.exe' was still running long after it should have been, so I killed it. Thanks for your help..

Hi, I'm new to the forum so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section or if the information I give is inadequate but I'll do my best.

I've managed to inherit an Acer Aspire 1652WLMi laptop from my mother... it used to run fine and seemed so much faster than my old desktop. But over the past... 2 years? It has seemed so much slower and the fan constantly roaring at ear-shattering levels.

Here are the specs:
Acer Aspire 1652WLMi Laptop running Windows XP ?Home? SP2
1.73 GHz
512MB ram DDR2 (support dual-channel???)

I think this should be enough info...correct me if I'm wrong

A few problems I've had are virtumonde (tried a few things and haven't seemed able to remove it), A hyperactive explorer.exe (generally bringing my CPU usage to 100%), An infected rundll32.exe (32.5 kb and has a page icon), Antivirus 2009 (stupid people don't know what year it is ) ... There are probably a few others but I'm tired right now. I can look into it later if need be.

there's admuncher http://www.admuncher.com/ it works in all browsers but isn't free,

also if you're using a newer browser (Firefox 2.0, opera 9.27, Internet Explorer 7,) you might not need the pop-up blocker since the newer browsers today have very good pop-up blockers built-in.

A:Pop Up Blocker(s)??

There are two things that you can do. If you have xp sp2 a windows firewall is included in that software that will block popups if you go into the sheild icon on the task bar you can change the settings so that it doesn't block the popups. Another thing that you can do is to install mozzilla firefox and that browser will enable you to allow popups from all sites or you can chose sites for it to allow.

From what I know, this is a strange programme which can be uninstalled only by downloading a SPECIFIC, SEPARATE uninstaller from the computerhelp/ manufacturer website. But there doesnt seem to be any available download link.

Try using Revo Uninstaller.

Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems

Also, manually remove any left over folders. I believe this software completely rewrites the hosts file. Check what your hosts file says (C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) by opening it in notepad. You can also try removing the entry for the website being blocked, then save the hosts file.

I use Firefox 1.5 with cookies disabled (execpt for the sites I visit regularly which are added to the 'allow cookies' list in Options > Privacy > Cookies > Exceptions). The only blocker I use is the NoScript extension for javascript. I've never had any popups in the 3 years I've been using Firefox, but hundreds when using IE at work.

I've just visited your link using Firefox and IE 5.5, no popups.

Try deleting all your cookies and run some spyware/virus checks. If that doesn't help, post a HJT log here after reading these instructions.

EDIT: you can see how the problem is solved using a HJT log here. Please don't carry out any of the instructions in this link as they are specific to the other person's PC. I only posted it to show how close you are to having a clean system Good luck!

I have no idea which pop up blocker is causing me this problem. My Symantic blocker is disabled and my windows blocker as well. But there is some blocker on this system that I do not know about. Is there a program or a way to find it?

A:Pop up blocker

How do you know that a pop up blocker is enabled?? I assume your "problem" is that you can't get certain windows. For example, some virtual credit card numbers are generated via a pop up window, and having a pop up blocker enabled will prevent that window from appearing. Another example . . . yahoo's PageBuilder site for editing a free geocities web site will not load if a pop up blocker is enabled. And certain on line scans, like Panda's I think, also rely on pop up windows. I'm sure there are other examples, but these three come to mind immediately.

I also assume that by "windows blocker" you mean the IE pop up blocker . . . do you??

Do you have the Goolgle Toolbar?? That has a pop up blocker also.

Most pop up blockers will allow you to receive pop ups from designated web sites. For example, even if you have the Google Toolbar pop up blocker enabled, if you press a certain combination of keys (I can't remember what they are), it will "let through" pop ups from the web site.

Anyway, if you can be more specific about your "problem", that may be a clue.

And, no, I'm not aware of any program that detects what pop up blockers are enabled, but one may exist. Perhaps some other poster can point to one.

hey there,

I have the strangest thing on my pc.
It calls itself Pop Up Blocker (but it's actually some kind of spyware) and I didn't want this to be installed on my pc but somehow it got there. (you know how it is with these things lately )
So I tried running ad-aware / spy bot search and destroy (latest versions) and guess what! They tracked it down and deleted it. So i thought phew, godd riddance. But then after I reboot my pc there they are again! I've tried uninstalling them via the add/remove programs (it shows there) but still no luck after reboot.
So I thought, ok it's some kind of virus thingy and ran Norton, that came up clean.

Anyone help pls?

Make a folder on your hard drive, like My Documents\HJT
Download Hijackthis.
Unzip the file to the folder on your hard drive.

Double click on Hijackthis.exe then click on the "Scan" button, then click on "Save Log".

Copy and paste it back here and someone will be happy to review it.

Don't make any changes until instructed to do so.

Im having trouble with a website on AOL 9.0. The site uses Adobe for me to print out forms. When on AOL I click the print report button and Adobe she open up with the report, but nothing happens. I cannot figure out how to configure AOL 9.0 to allow this.
I am able to print from IE if I configure the IE SP2 pop up blocker to allow this site.
Thanks in advance.

A:AOL 9.0 Pop Up Blocker

I currently use an older version of AOL but there must be a way to set up your pop-up preferences in 9.0.

(From AOL.COM Help)
To set your pop-up preferences:

Sign on to AOL.
On the AOL Toolbar click Settings, and then click Preferences.
On the "By AOL Feature" tab, scroll down to click Pop-ups.
Follow the online instructions.

When you're visiting a Web page using AOL, a pop-up control displays at the bottom of the window. Click the control to access various options. For example, you can choose to allow pop-ups from the site you are visiting, and you can change your pop-up preferences from there.

Hope this helps

Install the Google Toolbar.

Works very well, and is free.

The advanced toolbar will do some limited statistical reporting to Google but the basic one doesn't.

I have pages opening with adds on them, and at one point even found icons on my desktop for a couple, that really worried me, I hadn't even heard of such a thing happening.

Can someone please suggest a good freeware pop-up blocker, I have had three pop-ups in the short time that it has taken me to wrtite this.

I would be very grateful foe some help with this. I accidentally selected some pop-ups to be blocked by POW! and now I find that every time I return to a specific page, the blocker is shutting down my IE window and giving an error.

My question is - how do I unblock pop-ups on POW - I tried their unblock function but it did not work.

Where are the blocked URL's stored externally to POW?

A:Pop up Blocker help

Don't have a solution but a work around. Install firefox, disable popups and see if you can't get onto the sale site that way.

Otherwise, the questions start. What version of IE is she using?
If IE 6, what is she using to block the popups?

Has she tried clearing, cookies, history files and internet temp files. If not, try this and see if it does not help.

It could also have to do with security settings, try setting these back to the defaults.

I have two computers, one is running Windows 2000 one is running XP pro. Both are set to show an alert for new messages but the one of XP pro doesn't work. Hi there,

Having fixed several annoying problems via this site in the last week, thought I'd ask another question.

While my computer is now clean and running smoothly I am still annoyed by pop ups and have installed "AdSubtract" program to try it out. Is this for real, has been running only a couple of hours and say it has blocked 426 ads and 105 pop ups. Have now disabled sounds as it got way too annoying. Are they trying to get me to buy this software or has it really done all its said?

Can you run too many spyware/pop up blocker/ programs at one time, I find they all seem to find different things!

I find it worrying that it is so easily availalable on the web! I've tried the security options in the tools menu on my internet explorer, but everyother site I went on needed the password to view it as that particular site did not have a rating. Please, someone must be able to help.Cheers, Loopy.

A:I need a blocker please.

Hola, loopy. There are several blocker programs available out there. I can't tell you much about most of them. A few of the most famous are NetNanny, CyberSitter, and CyberPatrol (all at their respective .com). Of course, you have to pay for all of those. The one filter I have had experience with is We-Blocker (http://weblocker.fameleads.com/). It's been a couple of years since I used it, but when I did, it was great. First (and best) of all, it's free! No charge to download, and no subscription charge. I think there might be a charge for tech support on it, though. It blocked pretty much everything in the way of pornography. It updates frequently, and it's very customizeable and easy to use. It's got a password override, so it's simple to get to a site if you know it's safe but it gets blocked. It does slow you down a bit, but I'm betting that's because it scans every site so thoroughly. Like I said, it's been a while since I used it, so I can't speak for the newest version. If you want to read some reviews, head over to http://www.download.com/We-Blocker/3640-2381_4-5530725.html.I'm sure there are other options out there, you just kind of have to search around. If nothing else, Google "web filter" or "net filter." You're bound to find something that you like. Good luck!Adios,BuenoCabra

I went safely back to IE7 and all is well in Browser City. Also downloaded the thingy from Microsoft that causes WimUpdate to leave you alone about it, to not keep trying to give you IE8. Problem is when I opened and ran the little "leave me alone" thing it asked me where I wanted to put it, where I wanted it to live in my PC. I had no idea, so I just put the loose files in the Program Files folder. Not sure it is working from there.

Where should I have directed it to park itself?? Anyone know.

I use both IE (just installed ver. 8 RC1 [Release Candidate 1]) and Firefox (ver. 3.0.7, the latest). Firefox has been my default browser for several years, until recently. I don't know why, but the latest version hangs when I try to open a new site in a new tab (progress bar shows one or two green blocks, and stops). So I changed to IE8.

A major reason that I've used FF over IE for several years is Firefox's absolutely excellent ad blocker; it blocks everything. IE's built-in ad blocker, which I have activated, is poor. It blocks some, but lets many thru.

Anybody know of a really good and preferrably free ad blocker for IE (even if it's for IE7, it would probably work with IE8)?

gromit77,

Unless you can recall what programs you have installed recently and deduce what may be causing you this problem - you might like to check out this link :

http://tomcoyote.com/hjt/

Click to download. Install. Then hit 'Scan'. If you check the list you may see the problem entry. If not, after the scan - Copy / Paste the logfile thats generated in another post to this thread - then ask that this thread be moved to the Security Forum.

Someone may then be able to work out which program you are running thats caused this error.

Look at Adblock Ultimate combined with Ghostery and Noscript if you use firefox. For Chrome use Ghostery and Adguard Adblocker. In Ghostery enable what you wish under Advanced blocking options. Personally, I check everything.  It is not necessary to create a Ghostery Account.

Noscript requires a bit of learning curve to determine which sites you wish to allow scripts and what script to allow.

In Chrome click Options > Settings > Advanced Settings at the bottom of the page. Under Privacy > Content make sure PopUps are not allowed.

I want to do it myself and save my money, but I can't find anything in the registry or anything. If i remove it from startup it just starts somehow. Hi,
I recently installed the we blocker filtering utility on my machine. I've heard that this freeware package is arguably the finest of its kind and I would like to get the opportunity to evaluate it for myself. The problem is that we blocker will not allow me Internet access at all. I'm a computer novice myself and operate XP. I've followed all the steps in the configuration process making sure to include my homepage (Google) on the allowed sites list. If someone out there can help I'd be most grateful,
Thanks,
Jude26.

A:We Blocker

First, uninstall the We blocker in the Add Remove Programs control panel, then restart your computer via the Start button, if not prompted to.

Internet Explorer already comes with a Blocker on there that works flawlessly. Content Advisor. Click Tools; Internet Options; Content tab; Enable content advisor by clicking the Enable button. Use the sliders to select your choice of blocking - language etc.

I'd be sure and upgrade to IE 6 at the following site just for GPs. Be sure and go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and get all the Critical updates for your browser as well and, be sure you have WinXP Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) enabled. Please see the following virus-free attachment on how to enable ICF.

Hello, I didn't know under what topic I should post this, but I hope someone can help me.
Ok, so I've had this problem for more than a week now, and to put it simply, my ad blocker has just "stopped" working. What I mean by "stopped" is as follows:
- Random black rectangles (huge) at the bottom of the screen, (usually left corner, middle and right corner)
- Left side completely covered in a ad (not all sites)
- And lastly, however, the most annoying! ALL webpages I click on instantly transfer me to a pop-up website that I have to close (usually twice)
So, of course i have taken some action towards fixing this issue:
- Uninstalling Ad blocker
- Googling the problem (obviously my first choice)
- Updating and configuring Ad blocker
- Using the report button in order to find a solution
Unfortunately all in vein. So if anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated, as it is quite a nuisance to my daily life and work.
Thank you,
Fellow Ad block user

Hello All,

I have a Windows Vista OS with IE 7. I work at home and use a program that launches a small window/box that dials from my phone line to connect to my worksite. Well, lately this dialing box would not open up, so I called the helpdesk at my job and they had me uncheck the IE pop-up blocker because it interfered with this box opening up. This fixed the problem but what is happening now is that the pop-up blocker box keeps getting checked automatically, no matter how many times I uncheck it. As a result, I keep getting disconnected when I am at work. I don't want to lose my job.

I have added my work website to the trusted sites and also changed the settings for the pop-up blocker to allow pop-ups for this site. For virus protection, I use Microsoft's Live One Care which has a firewall and phishing filter, but I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem. I don't have any toolbars, ie., Google or Yahoo!, etc.

Please help. Thank you.

A:what is hijacking? what is a pop up blocker

Hijacking go here for the definition full definition. It basically says: An attack whereby an active, established, session is intercepted and used by the attacker. Hijacking can occur locally if, for example, a legitimate user leaves a computer unprotected. Remote hijacking can occur via the Internet.

Note. Hijacking should not be confused with the legit program 'Hijack This.

I was recently infected with a virus (or several viruses) and have tried as much as possible to rid the b***er from my computer. However my efforts have failed as there seems to be something stuck between the desktop and my screen. It's a grey screen that, whenever i move the mouse over it, turns white.

As far as i am aware everything seems to be in working order except for this annoying desktop. Here is a recent HiJackThis logfile if that helps at all.

I'll gratefully appreciate any response to helping my problem:

While i was away recently my husband ran a recovery disk to reinstall Windows, to get rid of spyware. He also installed broadband and McAfee Security Centre. After the reinstallation he couldn't access his online banking. He was advised by a support line to download XP service pack 2.

The problem persisted - and extended to any additional window, even those launched deliberately, eg download windows and using 'Open in New Window' command. All you get is a blank window. He was told that the problem was due to a pop-up blocker - either the one in IE or possibly one in McAfee.

He followed various instructions - uninstalling the McAfee Privacy Service and turning off the pop-up blocker in the IE tools menu. No change. He has spent over 100 in phone support but the problem is still there.

We are not running any toolbars - so what's the problem?? We've obviously got a rogue pop-up blocker somewhere but I've searched and can't find it.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Thanks

Zoe

How do I delete Spam Blocker Utility Web Tools? I have tried everything I can think of. Thanks Linda745

A:Spam Blocker

go to here and download 'Hijack This!' double click on the file and it will install to C:\program files\hijackthis and create an entry in the start menu and an optional shortcut on desktop.
Click on the entry in start menu or on the desktop to run HijackThis
Click the "Scan" button, when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.
Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.
It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required,
so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the result

You appear to have a Dell Inspiron 15 N5040 laptop.

What's the "service tag" number and/or "express service code" number on it?

I don't know why you posted in the Windows XP section instead of in the Windows 7 section, but I've requested your thread be moved to the correct section.

so, can anyone give me a good website blocker thing.

A:website blocker

You can block web site- using an add-on for firefox called BlockSite- using HOSTS file. Read this article on how.- using OpenDNS which blocks sites at DNS level.- using a firewall software which allows you to block sites like Outpost Firewall or ZoneAlarm- using an internet security software which allows you to block a list of sites- using a child safety software like NetNanny

In your opinion, what is the best SPAM blocker? I don't use any right now. SPAM seems to have seriously picked up in thhe past few days. I do use MailWasher Pro but just get tired of looking at the disgusting subject lines in this latest round of SPAM. Any suggestions?

Thanks for any input...

A:Best SPAM Blocker

You will have to manually add messages or domains manually in most SPAM apps unless they have a service where you can download definitions. There is really no fool proof solution or easy way to not get SPAM. You may want to look into an ISP that offers some sort of filtering service.

Ever since i installed Windows 7, i have been getting about 3-4 pop-ups daily when i surf the internet.

Back when i was with Windows Xp, i got 3-4 per month!

Not too bad, but still it bugs me. It takes away the focus of what i am trying to acomplish.

So...somehow or something is allowing pop-ups to get through.

Yes..my IE-8 Pop up blocker is active, and i have the recomended (default) security settings.

I am wanting to know who is using a good Windows 7 Compatible pop-up blocker, thats free to use.

I refuse to pay for any sort of software that the Windows OS should be doing for free already.

A:Good Pop-up Blocker

I never get popups..... weird.

If you are using IE8, and you are sure that the checkbox for the popup blocker is checked, then you may want to verify that there is no malware on your system.

I have the reverse problem of most. Something is blocking pop ups on my computer. Problem is I'm running a program that is supposed to lauch IE and it is not happening. I went to a site to test for pop ups (http://www.popuptest.com/popuptest1.html) and they don't appear when I run the test. I have the pop up blocker off in the google toolbar and also have the IE pop up blocker off. I have no 3rd party software that offers that option so I am out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

It just started today & it's aggravating me! I have the pop-up blocker set & it's on but these 3 websites keep popping up & I can't make it go away.

These are the 3 sites that continuously load up!

I have all of the settings enabled for the pop-up blocker to avoid it but it keeps coming up under internet explorer. I am using netscape 8.0 & I both have the pop up blockers working for both Internet Explorer and Netscape. How can I stop it?? It just started doing this today and it's rather annoying!

Click here to download HJTsetup.exe: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTSetup.exe
Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.

Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
