Several unkown PCI Simple Communications Controllers

Q: Several unkown PCI Simple Communications Controllers

I have a Dell Dimension 4550 with Windows XP SP3. I rebooted my computer today, and was hit with several "Found New Hardware" messages. All of these were "PCI Simple Communications Controllers". I tried using "Designated Drivers" from iolo's System Mechanic Professional, it did not find any drivers that would help, and neither did Reviversoft's "Driver Reviver". All of them are listed under "other devices" in the device manager. The device manager could not figure out which drivers to apply either.

I looked at the Dev ID and Ven ID and found the correct driver on PCIdatabase.com and applied that driver to all of the devices (since they all had the same vendor and device IDs). It was a specific modem. Now, I have 8 modems listed in the device manager.

That's not even the worst part. One of them suddenly changed its Device ID and Vendor ID, twice! I checked the new IDs in PCIdatabase.com but there were no corresponding vendors or devices.
This is the device details of one of the ones I applied the modem driver to:

PCI\VEN_14F1&DEV_2702&SUBSYS_00000004&REV_01\4&3B1CAF2B&0&09F0
This is the one that changed:

PCI\VEN_0041&DEV_8290&SUBSYS_00000004&REV_00\4&3B1CAF2B&0&08F0

Before the vendor ID was 0041 it was 0040, and before that, it was 14F1.
Before the device ID was 8290 it was 2702.

Please help!

Hello, I recently reinstalled windows XP from windows Vista and My PC has a driver problem. Under Device Manager, the ethernet controller and the PCI Simple Communications Controller are unknown and need drivers installed for them to work. Since they are not working, i dont have access to the internet on my pc, so right now, i am using my laptop to access the internet and seek help for this problem.

I do not know from where to get the correct drivers in order to make my ethernet network card or my modem to work. My PC is custom made, so it is not a ready made computer from a brand like dell or hp and my motherboard is an Intel D865PERL.

Is there anyone that is willing and can help me with my problem? Thanks in advance

Did you look on the Intel site for your MB? http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=949&lang=eng

Doubtless you need at least the chipset drivers and the network drivers, probably several others as well.

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit
Intel Core Duo E6750
8 gb ram

Motherboard: Gigabyte 965P-DS3
Nvidia 8800GT

So in a feeble attempt to try and get my USB game controllers and mouse to work again after using a Dynex USB hub on them (and likely destroying them completely :'( ) I went into the Device Manager to try and figure out the problem.

I couldn't get my controllers to work on any computer, but thankfully the USB ports still work.

And then I see in the Device Manager, under "Other Devices,"

"(!) PCI Simple Communications Controller."

Properties:

Device Type: Other Devices.
Manufacturer: Unknown.
Location: PCI bus 0, device 3, function 0

Device Status:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

I try to update the driver.
Can't find it online.

I try to manually find a file, whatever it may be.
The location that appears by default... C:\Program Files (x86)\Marvell\Miniport Driver\

.... but it cannot find anything.

Driver Details: No driver files have been installed or are required for this device.

Details: Description (none)

Value: PCI Simple Communications Controller

....

It's been a really bad day, and I'm trying my hardest not to say anything rude. :( Does anybody know just what the heck is going on here?

A:/!\ PCI Simple Communications Controller

I would try the Marvell networking driver available from the Gigabyte website

Hey Guys,

Just installed Windows 7 Ultimate on a 2 year old machine, and I have no sound. The only driver that is missing is the PCI Simple Communications Controller, and I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I'm running the

Intel G965 motherboard 1066MHz FSB, Core 2 Duo E6300 Processor, 3GB DDR2, 400GB Sata II HD.

I have read around the forums here and can't seem to find the answer.

Anyone help?

Hi there, run windows update and look for the "optional updates" on the left. You will probably see a sound driver. Install that and should be all good.

In Device Manager it shows up as a hardware that has no drivers.
I searched on Google and Windows Update, but no drivers are there.
I also searched on my Dell drivers discs, but there's nothing there for PCI devices.
I was thinking maybe it was the Chipset driver, so I installed that, but apparently that wasn't the fix.

Anyone know where to find a driver or fix for this thing?

A:What is the PCI Simple Communications Controller?

Sounds like a device windows couldn't properly identify. Does that laptop have a dial up modem in it? If yes does it show up correctly in device manager. If not install the drivers for it and see if that removes the PCI simple communications device entry. It could also be something else that hasn't had its driver installed. Onboard NIC, wifi, or maybe bluetooth. I'm just guessing at the moment. If you look at the properties for that device you may be able to find a hardware id number that you could Google to better nail it down.

A:Looking for PCI Simple Communications Controller

Have you tried going to the Gateway site Gateway Support - Drivers, Software and Firmware Updates And entering your serial # in order to find drivers for your system? The number is usualy located next to the Genuine Windows OS sticker on the rear of your tower, or bottom of your laptop. Unless this is an add on card you installed yourself or had installed. In that case we will need to know the manufacturer and model number of the controller. You can also try going to device manager.clicking on the controller>update driver>and have windows search for one. If Gateway doesn't have a windows seven driver a 64bit Vista driver might work in compatiblility mode Fabe Compatibility Mode

Greetings;

I just got big time help on one problem, so thought I would attack another problem (which may be related). I'll keep the explanation simple in the hopes that someone will recognize what needs to be done.

On startup I always get a note about hardware found, but not related software (this has happened since ME to XP several years ago. Other notes indicate ( I think) that the problems is driver for the "PCI simple communications controller".

When I go thru SYS MGMT \ DEVICE DRIVER \ OTHER DEVICES I find yellow question marks on PARALLEL DEVICES , PCI DEVICE AND PCI SIMPLE COMM CONTROLLER. The paralled device seems to be looking for HPFECB12.SYS (H-P ? - my scanner seems OK).

Where would I go from here ?? Thanks.

Sorry you had to go through all that since it problem doesn't appear to be a printer.

Open Device Manager and right click on the unknown "PCI Simple Communication Controller" or "Unknown Device" then click Properties, then the Details tab.

In a box below Device Instance ID you should see a text string similar to PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3059&SUBSYS_18931019&REV_60.

The information should tell us what the device is.

I suddenly get messages telling me on start up that new hard ware has been found. I am then told to install drivers for it. In the device manager there is a yellow exclamation mark next to this PCI device. Can I simply disable this? I can't even find out what this is.  Thanks

A:pci simple communications controller

It's normally a dial-up modem. If there's a dial-up port integrated on the system mainboard but it has not been being used, it might just have become enabled somehow in the BIOS. If this is the case, and you do not use dial-up, you could go into the BIOS setup screen (there's usually directions on screen at boot up), and disable the on-board modem. The OS will then no longer find the hardware. Disabling the device in Device Manager is an alternative.

One reason for new hardware suddenly being found is if the CMOS backup battery has gone flat and the BIOS settings have been lost and reverted to default. If you have noticed any other hints such as the clock being wrong, it might be a good idea to replace the backup battery. Usually it is a lithium button cell (commonly CR20320 located in a holder on the mainboard.

Those devices are part of the "Remote Management" feature -- a centralized system-administrator on a corporate network can access the computer, and make updates. Have you run the "HP Support Assistant"?It should find the missing 'AMT' device-drivers. Of course, if you are the only "administrator", you do not need to install that support -- your computer will work fine without it.

I also tried Intel website but all the drivers I see are related to their branded motherboards, can't find any driver for the i945P chipset itself.
Can anyone point me to these drivers on the internet or post them for download?
Thanks.

It's probably your modem. Right click PCI Simple Communications Controller in Device Manager. Select Properties and under the Details tab select Hardware ID's in the dropdown box. Copy and Paste the first line in your next post.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1 it shows the explanation point in the yellow triangle but when I try and trouble shoot it says the drivers for the device are not installed. Windows says it cant find the drivers and to check with the manufacturer but I don't know what that means, are they talking about Intel, Wolfdale or what. This may not be clear but I am not computer literate and have been fussing with this for some time trying to make windows recognize my TD 1010 Tablet either with the usb cable or over wi fi

Two exceptions in Device Manager -

PCI Simple Communications Controller

From reading the other threads, this may be modem related?

I've tried to repair it, obviously with no positive results.

Any thoughts? Should I try to download HPs Vista drivers and see if they work?

Thanks!

A:Another PCI Simple Communications controller issue

Yup - get all the drivers for Vista from HP and see if there is a set of Chipset drivers and / or modem drivers (assuming you have an integrated modem).

Might also apply to BlueTooth and / or wireless drivers, too....

Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Manager shows the little yellow question mark for the PCI Simple Communications Controller. Update Driver->Install Automatically fails. As a result, I have no CDrom drives. Device Manager shows Code 39 for the CDROM drives attached to this bus. The other PCI bus has both hard drives and works fine.

The box is a 5 year old Dell Dimension 2400 running Windoze XP SP2. This, of course, used to work. System Restore doesn't go back far enough to correct the problem. It seems like the same driver should handle both buses but apparently not. I've searched both the Microsoft and the the Dell sites for something as simple as some knowledge base thing to help out and/or downloading a new driver and can't find anything helpful.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance, Dave

A:Solved: PCI simple Communications Controler

Hi

I guess that the unidentified device is a modem or ethernet controller. If it is really a PCI device and you don't need it, you can simply remove it from your PC. The best way to find out
for sure is to check the specifications of your PC or contact the manufacturer or seller. Then you will be able to find the suitable drivers for windows XP.

Windows XP SP2

Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Manager->Other->PCI Simple Communications Controller shows Code 28. The 2 CDROM drives attached to PCI1 are not recognized and their drivers show not installed. The 2 hard drives attached to PCI0 work fine.

This, of course, used to work. Must have been bad for a while since System Restore doesn't save enough restore points to go back and correct. I use the CDROM drives rarely.

Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn shows the CDROM drives so not a hardware problem.

Hello Everyone.

I installed Windows 7 build 7227 3 days ago and have encountered 2 problems.

My Specs are:
Intel DP35DP MB
Quad core Q8200 2.33GHZ CPU
2x1Gb HyperX Kingston RAM
EZCool 1200w PSU
XFX GTX 295 Graphics card

1st problem:
My MB Management Engine Interface Drivers are incompatible and even when I try to run them in compatibility mode they still do not work.

2nd Problem:
The new OS is not picking up one of my WD 1Tb HDD. It shows in the bios, and it shows in the device manager but nowhere else. I think that this may have something to do with the fact that there is no PCI simple communications controller installed, and I cannot find that anywhere.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with these issues.

Hi All,

That is message, but I don't know what to do. This is how it came about.

My husband built my CPU which is great when it works and when it doesn't, I have to wait until he "FEELS LIKE IT" to work on in it --- almost 2 months and I am still waiting.

After vacation, I was getting an error message while trying to bring it up and my husband reloaded a couple of corrupted drivers - don't ask me which ones, he was too busy to articulate it. But the problem is now that doesn't recognize my Microsoft Wireless 5000 keyboard and mouse -- it will however work with a wired keyboard, wired mouse, printer, scanner and sound. I replaced the batteries, moved and reset the doggle, deleted and reloaded the drivers from microsoft to get the most current and still doesn't recognize it. I went into troubleshooting hardware from the control panel and the last message I got was "PCI Communications Controller Doesn't have a Driver" --- what do I do? Is this even the problem? And by the way, the husband is now out of the country and I am not waiting on him any longer.

Other info:
Processor: Intel R Pentium R D CPU 3.40Ghz 3.40 GHz

Thanks for any help!

Hi there!

Hope you can help.. I am having a whole wazoo of issues with my IBM Netvista, this is just one of the latest.

To give you some background on what is going on, the other night I accidentally hit the standby key on my keyboard and the computer refused to turn back on again. Well, it was ON, but nothing would translate to the screen. I could hear it on, but nothing happened and my monitor light continued to flash as if it was not on.

So, after many patient reboots and shutting it off and unplugging it for a while, it DID come back on. Then, as soon as windows would load into the desktop, it would lock up and just let out one long steady beep noise. Back to rebooting all over again.

Eventually, I managed to get it back on, and working.

Cue when i went to plug in my stereo to the computer for sound. I plugged in the cord to the back of the computer - screen goes blank again and monitor light is blinking like it is not on. With a sinking feeling, I turned of the computer to get it working again, fearing that I might not get it back on.

It did come back on, but I get a message on boot that says there is a PCI Resource Conflict in slot 03.

Then, when i got into windows. I got a message from Found New Hardware resource saying that my PCI Simple Communications Controller needed to be installed. Checked in device manager and found that pretty little yellow question mark beside it.

I am also noticing a bit of a strange noise from the computer itself.. I think it MAY be... Read more

A:PCI Simple Communications Controller Driver Problem

Simple Communications Controller is a class of device, so it's not possible to identify a driver from this. All the necessary drivers for the internal system components should be available from the ASUS support website.

http://www.asus.com/Notebooks/Versatile_Performance/K52JT/#download

The same device class can also include virtual drivers that implement serial streaming protocols. One way you may be able to identify the device is to go to Properties\Details for that device in Device Manager, and note the device id, eg PCI/VEN_8086&DEV_27D8&SUBSYS. Then enter the four digit VEN and DEV numbers into http://www.pcidatabase.com/ and see if it identifies the device.

Dell Dimension 1100/B110 desktop pc. Was XP but now with Home Premium 32-bit installed via Microsoft recommended "custom" installation. "windows.old" folder still on C drive. I have not performed the "Windows Easy Transfer" of files. EVERYTHING appears to be working exactly as advertised yet I have this yellow exclamation mark. Dell website does not support Windows 7 on this PC. Microsoft Windows Update utility reported that 32-bit Windows 7 was acceptable to be installed but not 64-bit. Installed Windows 7 because of the impending end of support by Microsoft. The Dell motherboard is 0WF887 according to Belarc. Printer is working normally. Wireless is OK. Wired is OK. Audio is OK. Video is OK -- I am NOT using the motherboard VGA video output - I am using the VGA output on a card that was added before I acquired the PC. Maybe the card came from Dell with this video card already installed but the Dell support website does not show that is true for my Service Tag number. The installed card also has an unused DVI output.

Hi there!

Well, I've more or less worked my way into a pickle that I haven't the first idea on how I did it. I've recently just formatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate on my main 1TB drive and when I booted up and got to my Desktop, I got notices saying that my SMBus Controller and PCI Simple Communications Controller were out of date or just not working correctly. I have absolutely NO idea how to remedy this situation and I'm looking to this forum to see if anyone knows how to help.

Things I've tried:
-Allowing Windows to try to automatically find the drivers (As if...)
-Uninstalling both of the controllerrs from the Device Manager and rebooting as instructed in one of the Dell and Microsoft forums (Nothing happened...)
-I've tried looking up drivers for the devices and haven't found anything.

Now, the only thing to note about this is that I've got a Dell Inspiron 620 (pretty much just put the mobo into an Antec Nine Hundred case). A friend of mine had his computer Blue Screen and I attempted to fix (which worked; just a clean reinstall of Windows 7 and the such) and since then, I've gotten these error messages when I boot in Windows 7 and when I boot in Windows Vista.

Was there something I missed or am I just ridiculous and did something wrong? I appreciate all feedback, considering I'm new to this forum, I understand it may take awhile and I may be posting in the wrong thread, but I just need some help.

If indeed you somehow did . . You can go to the Dell support site, enter your Service Tag Number and download the drivers. Be sure to use IE and do not use the Dell Download Manager!

Just download the driver file, save it to the desktop and double click to install

On the list of drivers, click on the driver file:

Then be sure the "For Single File Download via Browser is selected and click the Download Now button here:

Install the chipset driver first, then the modem driver

I would be grateful for help with this problem. I have just inherited a Lenovo computer from my stepson who has gone abroad to work.It is a M58e Thinkcentre Machine Type 7847W3L.The OS is Windows 7 x64 Professional. Service Pack 1. When I open Device Manager I find that 'PCI Simple Communications Controller' has an error flag against it.The Information Box for this device says : - 'The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver' When I try to update the driver, Windows fails to find one.I have installed all outstanding updates and the update system says now says 'Windows is up to date' I have read elsewhere in this forum that the required software is an Intel Management Engine Interface. I have therefore downloaded ME_Consumer_Win7_8.1_10_64_11.0.2.1000 from the Intel website on the basis that this is the one listed for Windows 7 x64 but, this refuses to install with the message:- 'This platform is not supported'  Is this message referring to the motherboard of the M58e? I am not sure what to do next. Can anyone tell me where to get this missing driver? What do I look for and where do I get it? Many ThanksTonyR

I'm pretty sure it's my inbuilt 56k modem. I've tried to locate the vendor/device using the PCI database but there's no information there. If I try and install it using the 'Found New Hardware Wizard' it says "Windows cannot find the necessary software". Is there a way to make Windows stop asking me to install this device? Or do I have to locate and install the device drivers manually?

Also, if I do have to install the drier to get rid of the wizard, will a generic driver work or does it have to be the one for my specific modem (which I don't know)?

Thanks,

Hi, I've read quite a few threads on this issue and tried just about every response I've seen so far and yet nothing is fixing this issue. I was able to find out that the device is: Q963/Q965 HECI Controller driver using the unknown drivers program from majorgeeks, however I can't seem to find the drivers for it.

my system:
Intel P4 540 Socket 775 LGA 3.2 GHZ
Mainboard HP Model OA54h
Bios version: 786E1 v01.10
PCIE Graphic Interface
4G Ram DDR2
AMD Radeon HD 6670

Info from Unknown Devices:
* Windows Description - PCI Simple Communications Controller
* Hardware ID - VEN_8086&DEV_2994&SUBSYS_2801103C&REV_02
* Device Category (Class) - Other devices
* Enumerator - PCI

* Detected Chip Vender - Intel Corporation
* Detected Chip Device - Q963/Q965 HECI Controller
* Detected Vender - Hewlett-Packard Company
* Detected Device - <unknown, id=2801>

* Device Status Flags - Detected, Unknown, Present, Not Phantom, Category Visable

any help would be greatly appreciated. my system still thinks it's using an old CRT monitor and so is sending
analog to my new led hd monitor

the system info you posted makes no sense--I can't find any motherboard named HP OA54h--I suggest you download install and run this handy little program called CPU-Z, which will allow you to see 'exactly' whats on/in your machine (see screenshot)--get it here: (it's free)

then post back with the actual mobo specs and it will be easier to locate drivers...

After Installing Windows XP, the Found New Hardware Wizard appears and it states that it has found a new PCI Simple Communications Controller I put the installation CD inside the Cdrom and automatically the wizard detects the drivers and it even show the modem name "Motorola SM56 Speakerphone Modem" but unfortunately after a few seconds a window appears stating that

[CANNOT START THIS HARDWARE]

"There was a problem installing this hardware:
Motorola SM56 Speakerphone Modem

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Then there's a pop-up message says that there is a problem installing the hardware drivers. Why is that? I totally freak out. I thought that by downloading the WinXp driver from Motorola's Website there will be no problem installing the modem driver.

I also look at the Device Manager click on the modem properties and under [Resources] tab it says.

Resource settings:
This device isn't using any resources because it has a problem.

and under the [Driver] tab, Driver Details the drivers are present.

Hi

I have put Windows 7 x64 on my Portege A600-122 and have a "PCI Simple Communications Controller" in the device manager. It appears this is becuase the Intel AMT (Active Management Technology) driver is not installed.

I am struggling to find it, there is a [Windows 7 x86 driver|http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/autoDetect.do?service=UK&ACTION=PROCESS_DETECTION& TYPE=FORWARD&SOURCE=SMP&COUNTRY=242&QSA=TRUE&MODEL =PORTEGE+A600&SERIAL=X8100601H&service=UK&LOCALE=& OSBUILD=7600&SUB_TYPE=SMP&OSBITSIZE=64&PANUMBER=PP A61E-008008EN&ERROR=0]

and a [Vista x86 driver|http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/autoDetect.do?service=UK&ACTION=PROCESS_DETECTION& TYPE=FORWARD&SOURCE=SMP&COUNTRY=242&QSA=TRUE&MODEL =PORTEGE+A600&SERIAL=X8100601H&service=UK&LOCALE=& OSBUILD=7600&SUB_TYPE=SMP&OSBITSIZE=64&PANUMBER=PP A61E-008008EN&ERROR=0]

but I can not find a Windows 7 x64 driver, will one of the above do or is there another link to the x64 driver?

Thanks

"PCI Simple communications Controller" keeps popping up at startup & loading - TWICE. I have uninstalled it numerous times and it (they) keep coming back. I can't get rid of it (them). It (they) keep saying "new hardware detected" and "installing" "please wait..."

I have to click on "cancel" each time TWICE every time the PC boots up.

how can I get rid of it (them)?

It doesn't appear in the list in the "Install / Uninstall programs". I keep deleting (uninstalling) from Device Manager, but next time I start up the PC it's (they're) back again and I have to wait for them to "load" then click on "cancel" each time.

A:Windows 2000 Professional PCI Simple Communications Controller Problem

It's most likely your dial-up modem card. As long as the card is inside the case, the message will keep popping up.
Remove the card, or install driver for it.

Performed a clean install of Windows 10 Pro on my Dell OptiPlex 790.  Everything went well and all the devices drivers were installed except one, the Intel AMT - SOL device.  The vendor id is 8086 and the device id is 1C3D.  Can you help with this issue?
Thanks.

A:Missing PCI Simple Communications Controller Driver, Dell Optiplex 790

It looks like its the Intel Serial over Lan driver.  Your computer was never tested by Dell for Windows 10, meaning there are no new drivers created by Intel, etc., that may work.  You could google Intel AMT/SOL and see if Intel does have a driver for your chipset that may work.  It looks like Dell stopped supporting your computer at Windows 8.0
