Why my dell alienware restarts itself randomly?

Q: Why my dell alienware restarts itself randomly?

hello everyone, i am a newbie here.

i got my alienware laptop less than 10 days ago, and it has been restarted itself randomly for 2 times, the first time i was using photoshop and the second time i was just reading some web pages...i have done some research and the problem appeared to be the hardware.

that will be so damn awesome if it's the hardware 'cause i'll have to go all the way 20km to get local dell store to fix it, and they will take weeks maybe just to get some parts...so i hope, it's a system bug.

alienware 15m (that 15inch model, can't remember what's called)
windows7 home prem,
8G ram
650G hard drive
ATI HD 5850 (some people said that it could be the graphics card drive's fault)

A: Why my dell alienware restarts itself randomly?

First, since this things only 10 days old it is certainly under warrenty. I'd be telling Dell straight up to fix this thing and a) either they send someone to get it or b) they give you an RMA # with them paying the shipping both ways.

If you don't want to take this path first then go to their website, find your exact laptop model and update their latest video drivers from there.

Hi All, as the title says I have a Dell OptiPlex 755, with a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit. I have been having a lot of problems getting this thing to work correctly. I will list each problem below, and separate them:

The first problem I have been having is an immediate restart when I woke the computer from sleep. I would get a flash of the login screen, and then the system would reboot. Doing some research, I figured out a couple of settings to modify in Windows. I disabled Wake timers, Disabled Hybrid Sleep, and I unchecked "Allow This Device to Wake The Computer" for the Ethernet adapter. Without installing any Windows Updates, ie, right after installation, the computer would sleep and function normally.

The second problem I am currently having is a very similar problem as before. At this point, all the mandatory Windows Updates are installed. What happens is when the computer is woken up from sleep, and sits Idle for about 45 seconds to 2 minutes, it will shut down, and then turn back on. I have no idea as to why the computer is doing this.

I have used memtest86 all day today testing the ram, and that is not the problem. I have not ruled out the mobo or hdd yet. I have also looked through the event logs, and I get a critical event 41, and in the error section I see errors 10, 6008, and 7023. I do not suspect events 10. I will post the details for each error below.

I really hope one of you guys can help me; this is without a doubt the hardest time I... Read more

I just got this computer less than a month ago and it is restarting for no apparent reason. I know windows 7 by default restarts when there is a system error and doesn't display a message. I've changed this setting, but still don't receive any error message. I'm not really sure what could be causing this, but I'm really disappointed that my rather expensive new computer is having issues already. Any and all help is very appreciated

Two months ago bought a Dell 8900 from Best Buy. After 20 days, it would not start, same with the next 8900 replacement... only fewer days. The first gameware as a replacement did not start at all. The Alienware Aurora worked beautifully for 3 days and then would not start. In the 8900's,,, got the blinking amber lights on the start button. Tech is coming to replace motherboard. What the heck is happening? Could it be the monitor... or the external hard drive or what? Come on Dell,,, what's up? I have a Dell XP Laptop as a back up using the same external hard ddrive.

My Alienware Aurora R2 restarts itself in the middle of Starcraft 2 or when I get to the title screen for Shogun 2. It restarts itself then blue screens right when the windows user log on screen comes up. Sometimes is restarts and blue screens several times in a row before I can get back into windows. The blue screen text says something like 'page error in non page area' with lots of other text. I used to be able to play Shogun2 for hours and sometimes it would be fine, sometimes the computer would randomly restart itself and blue screen. Now I can't even get into a saved game or new campaign in Shogun2 because my computer will restart itself right when the title screen comes up after the intro video.
Alienware Aurora R2
Its the original OEM, Windows 7 Home Premium, that came installed on the computer
About two years old, haven't reinstalled the OS,
have had this problem off and on, strangely it seems to happen more when I am connected to the internet using a wireless USB stick.

A:Alienware crashes while playing Shogun2, Starcraft2: restarts: BSOD's

Every crash was caused by your Ralink network driver, which belongs to your USB Wireless device. I am unsure on what you have so please go to the support site for that product and download the latest drivers

Also, you have zero Windows updates installed since SP1. There should be between 70-90 updates. Please install all the available updates.

I have an ongoing problem, which both Alienware tech support and I thought was the motherboard, but now I'm not so sure.

Three months after I bought an Alienware Area-51 7900, the computer started to randomly freeze. It would happen no matter what I was doing on it. Often, when I'd reboot, the computer would get stuck. Sometimes it'd freeze while booting into Windows XP. But more often, it wouldn't get to any of the splash screens. The computer would turn on but neither monitor nor and of the perpherials would respond.

After repeated Alienware tech support calls, I learned one way to fix it. If I opened up the computer and unplugged the hardrives, video cards, motherboard, RAM, and removed the little round battery on the motherboard, then plugged everything back in, the computer would boot up fine again. It's only a temporary fix, though, sometimes lasting only 24 hours.

Thinking it was a defective motherboard, Alienware replaced it. That fixed the problem for a couple months. But now the problem is happening again. I'm going to give tech support another call, but before I do, I wanted to see if anyone had an ideas of what could be causing the problem so I could suggest some things to tech support.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A:Alienware randomly freezes, won't boot up

When they replaced the motherboard, did they replace the processor and memory? May be your power supply. What I would try is diconnecting and/or removing everything except the hard drive and the video card. See if you can isolate a hardware problem. Also try swapping out memory sticks if they weren't replaced with the new hard drive.

Hi peeps, I just bought an Alienware 17 R3 last week. I've installed Photoshop CC and SketchUp 2016. While using both programs my keyboard will randomly become unresponsive. I took it back to Best Buy last night and the service technician installed the latest BIOS upgrades (sorry - I really don't know much about computers so I am trying to repeat as much as he told me but I'm not terribly well-versed). Unfortunately the upgrades did not seem to help as it did it again twice today... I'm attaching a pic of my computer stats.

Also, I use an external 1Tb drive to store my projects and an Intuos Med Pro tablet to do my sketches.

Help?!?!?

Hello everybody! I recently purchased an Alienware Aurora R5 from dell about a month ago. I just received the PC in the mail about 4 days ago so it is completely brand new. The first day I was using it, the computer randomly shutdown and restarted itself and I didn't think much of it at first just that it was possibly an update finishing or something like that.
Fast-forward a few days to now, I tried to install my Star Wars: The Old Republic game and when I went into the game and changed the settings to my PC's correct resolution and overall settings, the PC will randomly shut off and restart once again. I tried a few times and the same result occurs every time. My PC is more than able to handle that game and yet it does it no matter the settings.
Then I tried to run the Diagnostics Tool on this site and when I did, it got about 2-3 minutes in and then once again, the PC randomly shutdown and restarted itself.
I am at a complete loss right now. I have absolutely no idea what is wrong with this PC and it has me worried since I just shelled out a decent amount of money to get it and it's not even a week old yet. The only things that have been downloaded to the computer is my Anti-virus software and a few driver updates. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated because I am at a complete loss right now on what may be causing this issue. I'm starting to feel something is wrong on the inside and was defective before it even got to me, but I really... Read more

why are alienwares so overpriced? how is an alienware with the same specs as a dell xps better and more expensive?

A:Alienware vs. Dell

Alienware actually makes sure all your parts will give you great performance.
Dell has this habit of saying "Intel inside" with a 3.0 ghz CPU and 512mb of RAM.
Then you buy the system and find out you can't upgrade anything in it and you bought a 3ghz Celeron with 512mb of PC133 RAM.
If your buying a DELL, look very closely at whats in it. There is almost always a huge bottleneck in the system that they expect you to overlook.

Alienware will always put great parts in their system, do a system burn in and then ship it. I have heard their Customer support is a little lacking though.

Hi, im trying to factory reset my computer because i'm just tired of having a full HD, and random software from years ago. Anyways, my current OS is Windows 7 and I have an Alienware m15x. Now i've read up on a few ways to restore this specific computer, however, I don't have the installation disc, AlienRespawn/DellDataSafe does not appear when press f8 at boot menu, and i don't have a factory system image to recover from apparently. So with this being said, Is there anyway to factory reset? I have a bootable USB drive with windows 7 recovery on it, but I need a system image or something I believe. I've also tried download AlienRespawn Win 7 patch off of alienware.com but when I try to use it it says "Change.MBR failed"

Hi there,
I have an alienware 18 which runs the GTX880m
i recently got a  dell 3007wfp hc, and could not get the promised 2560x1600 resolution
I am using the HDMI port from the laptop with this hdmi cable:
the audioquest pearl
www.audioquest.com/hdmi/pearl
and this adaptor
www.amazon.com/.../ref=od_aui_detailpages00
Both parts indicated that it is 4k ready.
I have also previously tired this cable
www.amazon.com/.../ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
but also resulted in failure
I was able to make a customize tab in the NIVIDIA control pannel for 1920 x 1080 and the image got through, it is however very pixelated.
I was also able to create a tab for 2560x1600, while i hit the "test" button, the screen became black with only one line of pixels.
is there something i missed?

thanks so much!

A:DELL ALIENWARE AURORA R1, R3, X51, and XPS 8700

First there is a free upgrade from Windows 7 OEM to Windows 10 Retail so there is absolutely zero point in purchasing a Windows 8.1 Retail license...
Windows 10 TH2 is essentially a fixed version of Windows 8.1 where Metro Apps work correctly as "Windows".
Almost any system shipped with Windows 7 can run Windows 10. As they are 2009 and 2011 models respectively Dell did not provide updated drivers for Windows 8.x or Windows 10 because they are all out of warranty. All the drivers should be inbuilt into Windows 10 TH2 or automatically obtained via Windows Update. Its advised to update your BIOS to the latest revision before proceeding.
A Clean Installation also in general performs better. See here for details:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/download-windows-10-oem-and-retail-iso/
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1RkaknDn7v-Ucth4gt0U3BHVSY7oNkWr
Both systems likely have a legacy (non-UEFI) BIOS so take that into account when making the Bootable USB. Although you may want to look at the BIOS settings for the 2011 model to see if there is UEFI support.

Hello sevenforums,

I have an external mouse that works on other desktops/laptops but not on my alienware.
It shows up in device manager and lights up but wont work other than that.

I have already tried updating drivers

On another thread i saw this
-----------------------------------------------------
Have no idea if this will help in your situation but it sometimes solves weird USB problems.

Shut down laptop
Remove AC power cord
Remove the battery
Press and hold the laptop power button for 30 seconds
Reinstall the battery
Reconnect the AC power cord
Restart laptop
Reconnect and try USB mouse
---------------------------------------------------------

I tried that but it didn't work.

Could it be the mouse is just not compatible?

not sure what brand mouse it is but its a cheap one.

Here are some specs:
win 7 64 bit
8 gigs ram
i7 2.2 ghz cpu

A:external mouse not working on dell alienware

To confirm: this is a laptop? (Your MySystemSpecs say Desktop)

With the mouse connected, go into the mouse properties and go through all the options and see if you can find anything obvious there.
Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices & Printers > Mouse

On the Hardware Tab you should see the touchpad and the mouse. See if you can "Change Settings" with the mouse highlighted. This is to see if Windows is recognizing the mouse and it's driver.

One other WAG: try putting a plain sheet of paper under the mouse as a mousepad. Just a test.

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place for this topic, but I'm posting it here in the hope that someone at Dell will raise this with the right person.
I've been desperately trying to buy an Alienware Graphics Amplifier from www.dell.com.au, but when I search for the product and click on the search result (the link I get is accessories.dell.com/.../productdetail.aspx, I get a product not found error page.
I raised this with support through online chat, but they told me to contact the parts department via phone. I then spent over 20 minutes getting bounced around different departments before I gave up.
Has the Alienware Graphics Amplifier been discontinued or is this just a bug in the site?
Please help.

I started this thread at the beginning of November: Virus help

since then I haven't had the time to fix it but now I've been considering just reinstalling the OS but my problem is I'm not sure how to. The computer with the virus is an Alienware bought from Dell so it didn't come with a windows CD though I have one from building another computer. I was wondering if it was safe to use the other cd or will that not be able to register windows on two computers? And I'm not sure if the Alienware computers come with an internal CD for reinstallation or anything like that.
I would prefer to not have to deal with Dell since they are a hassle and I don't trust them to not charge me for services.

Thank you for your help.

If I wanted to keep my current home computer as my main server & be able to access it remotely via laptop any where in the world if I'm away for whatever reason.

What kind of laptop would be best?

My business is websites, so I almost automatically jump to an apple since its pushed more for the graphics/artists

But I also like the dells & alienwares.

I'd also like them to talk wirelessly/via bluetooth while they are in the same room together to "sync" up.

I'm just not sure which way to go.

I wont be gaming, just heaving internet surfing & web design/work.

I run Win7 64 & Ubuntu 64 (though I havent used it as much since win7 64 came out)

Apple is also pushed strongly in the professional audio sector.

That doesn't necessarily mean it is better for a professional or studio to use, however.

Any laptop will do. Look into Dameware software. It's great.

Hi

When I play one my MMORPG games, my computer often restarts randomly without any warning, a black screen justs pops up and acts like as if my PC was just turned on. When i go back on, it says "You computer has just recorvered from a serious error" i have no clue what to do so if someone knows the solution please tell me, Thanks

A:PC randomly restarts Help please

Press Windows Key + Pause to bring up your System Properties. Go to Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery box > Settings button > System Failure box > uncheck the Automatically Restart box. Now the next time your computer crashes, it won't reboot and instead it will stop with a blue error screen. Record the Stop Error (something like e.g. STOP: 0x00000050 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA) and post back.

Hi guys,

I recently had to replace my motherboard and cpu. However the system randomly restarts while playing games and running flash-based applications.

No blue screen appears before the restart, nor does any report after windows has signed in again.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance!

A:PC Randomly Restarts Sometimes

hi, generally when this happens there's either a RAM or overheating problem, you could try downloading and running MEMTEST to test the RAM. Also, check inside the case for excess dust, and ensure all fans are working. Have you installed any additional fans into the case? (they may be facing the wrong way and/or causing a vacuum)

i can play counterstrike for hours and it won't restart but if i even just leave it on my desktop or do some other tasks then it crashes and restarts saying a serious error has occured.
i just bought new ram and it didnt help so i'm guessing a format is next.
anyone got any ideas on what could be causing it to restart???

Right click My Computer,

So I recently installed a fresh copy of Windows 8.1 on my PC. Though unfortunately, after a week or so, I got the following message:
"Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you."
And it restarts and boots up safely, and I can continue my work.
But from then on, it happens randomly at least twice everyday. Since I'm a PC gamer, I'm usually just playing games, mostly multiplayer, so when I'm doing that, the message pops up and the PC restarts. I have no idea why this is happening.

You are experiencing a Blue Screen of Death issue which can be caused by either software or hardware reasons. Since you are a PC gamer, first thing i would recommend is to disable any overclocking and voltage tweaks ( if there is any ). Also enter BIOS setup and load "default values". If the issue remains, please post a reply with the crash dump files attached.

1. Windows will save a crash dump files every time it crashes. You will find them inside C:\Windows\Minidump folder. You need to disable UAC before copying the dumps. Then copy all of them and compress them using 7-zip. Attach the dumps using "More reply options --> Attach files" option.

2. Also publish a snapshot of your system using "Speccy".

 Hello all u guyz, i'm noobie in this forum (I hope it's the proper place to post this thread...)

Well, I built up a new pc days before. Pieces:

Athlon64 3000+ 754socket
GIGABYTE GA-K8NSNXP 754
Ram KINGSTON KVR400X64C3 512MB PC3200 400MHz (1 stick)
Trust qtec power supplier 500W
Seagate 200GB Barracuda sata

the prob?Ok here it goes.
I firstly tried to install winxp in the just-formatted HDD. I managed to do so, yet windows kept restarting all the time, esp. when i tried to run an application or a game. I firstly reformatted and tried to re-install winXp. But I couldn't, ethier because of the reboots my pc kept doing (in the middle of wins' setup!) or because receiving a blue screen saying there should a be a hardware or software prob, after which it needed to reboot....
I tried many times to install XP, I couldnt, so I tried to Install win2K. Not believing it, I managed to install them normally, but my pc keeps restarting in a way I can't do or play anything.....Any suggestions? I haven't run the memtest86 yet. If it is not a mem prob what could it be? Is there any possibility my power supplier cause this mess?

A:PC restarts randomly!

Usually this can be caused by a low power PSU but you have a 500w so that should be sufficient.

I suspect its a memory problem - you said you have not ran memtest86 (http://www.memtest.org) yet, so try that. Its quite amazing what kinds of problems bad memory can cause...

This is the first time my notebook has had a major issue in the five years I've owned it, so I thought I'd take a stab at getting it corrected.

My OS: Windows XP SP3

I have access to a second computer, which I'm currently using to send this message. I'm a little hesitant to get my troubled notebook back on the Internet.

Some background info: The other evening, I noticed that my google search results were being hijacked. I ran Spybot and found "Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter.FirewallBypass." I successfully corrected the entries, but I noticed that my searches were still being hijacked (although a few did go through properly). I shut down my computer without any issues.

The next day, I began experiencing issues during start up. Specifically, during the blue "Windows is starting up..." screen, my system would automatically restart. This happened continuously. Eventually I told the system not to restart in the event of a system error. The next time I tried starting up, I got a BSOD after the "Windows is starting up..." screen with the following error message:

The windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000). The system has been shut down.

I continued to attempt starting up and actually found varying levels of success. Every now and then, I'll make it to the password screen followed by my actual desktop with everything int... Read more

Hi i am having a bit of a problem with my pc. It will occiasonally restart on its own for sum rather weird reason. I hav no idea why it does this but when it starts back up i always get a system error message saying that it was due to a device driver but it doesnt know which device driver it is. This is really starting to get on my nerves because i reformatted my pc hoping that this problem would get sorted out but it has not. It usually restarts when i click on something. I think it could be down to the heat because my CPU temp is 58C and my SYS temp is 47C. I hope it is down to the heat as the summer season here in the uk is about to end very soon so i am lucky. But if anyone can help me with other reasons of what it could be then please say. Also i have all the neccasary windows critical updates and service packs. Thank You

Could be a lot of things- check in your system panel > HARDWARE DEVICES to see of there are any conflicts. Also have you installed any hardware recently to get this message?

Another thing it could be is the temperature not set correctly in the BIOS. Go in there and check and up the temp cut-off a bit.

Hope that helps...

it spontaneously restarts at any random time. I have no idea why and there is nothing that i do that may cause this to happen. I thought at first it was because i play certain games like diablo or startcraft but it restarts regardless. I'm having a problem where my pc shuts down randomly. It's happened to me before and i know it happens when it begins processing more things. In the past, i would restore my pc to an early time and clean it with advanced system care, but that didn't work this time. Help?

A:Pc randomly restarts

Do not use any registry cleaners/optimizers like Advanced System Care, these cause more problems then they solve.
A PC that restarts on it's own is usually caused by overheating or a Failing Power Supply Unit. Shut down the computer and take off the side, clean out all dust and blow out all fans with a can of Compressed air. Take a look at the label on the PSU and report the Make, Model# and Wattage. Restart the computer and make sure all fans are spinning.
If you still have problems, try doing a Clean Boot If that works, then add one startup item at a time until you find the culprit.

A:Xp Randomly Restarts.

When your computer reboots on it's own, it generates a blue screen. Depending upon the settings on your computer you may not see this blue screen, however.Go to:Start > right click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery SettingsUncheck Automatically RestartClick Apply and then OKNow when you receive a blue screen the computer will pause on it and you will have to reboot manually. The 'Blue Screen of Death' (or BSOD) is refered to by Microsoft as a Stop Message. They can occur for many reasons. In order to diagnose it's cause we need as much info as you can give about the stop message. Please write it down and post it back here the next time it happens. In particular, it helps to have the somewhat cryptic series of numbers about half way down the blue screen that have this sort of format:0x0000008E (Followed by four other sets of numbers in parenthesis.) It is also helpful to know the answers to these questions:What are you doing when this happens (are you on line, starting the computer, etc).Does it always happen at the same time?Is it always the same message, or is it a different set of numbers each time?Have you added any hardware or software lately? Are you experiencing any other buggy behavior from this computer (such as it runs slower than it used to, etc)?

Hi everyone.

I've been having this problem of late where my computer will randomly restart. What usually happens is it will start Windows fine, but within a few minutes will reboot. Then, whilst booting and before reaching Windows it will restart itself a few times. When Windows finally does start after all this it usually runs fine. 9/10 after Windows has been running for an hour, it will continue to run indefinitely with no problems.

I thought it might be a heat problem but it seems too random for that, and I run it with the case open and a fan directed at the machine.

I've also tried running MalwareBytes, Super Anti Spyware and AVG all from Safe Mode but the problem persists.

Specs:

Windows XP SP3
Pentium 4 3.0GHz
1GB RAM
Radeon 9550

Any advice?

Thanks in advance

Hi guys,

I've recently put together a PC and for the first 3 weeks it was running perfectly. Then in the past week, it started crashing completely randomly it seems. No error messages or blue screens, it just auto restarts.

On reboot, it has an error log (the following are 5 examples out of about 10 crashes so far)

Ex 1
Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 c0384dc0, parameter3 ebf4e4ec, parameter4 00000000.
(This occurred when I was finishing an installation of iTunes..don't know if that's of significance?)

Ex 2
Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 c038d724, parameter3 ecb494ec, parameter4 00000000.

Ex 3
Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 804e7fc2, parameter3 ec2dc4e4, parameter4 00000000.

Ex 4
Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 c038c2f4, parameter3 ec94189c, parameter4 00000000.

Ex 5
Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 804e7fc2, parameter3 ec4da4e4, parameter4 00000000.

I've not installed any new hardware in the last week nor any major programs. I've got no spyware (according to spybot). Norton windoctor reported a missing msvcr80.dll (i realise i can't just add this .dll back into my system...plus I'm told it's a necessary .dll for office 2007 and .NET 2.0)

Any idea what my problems could be??

Thanks so much!
Dom

So recently more like the last month of so my computer is randomly restarting for absolutely no reason. I went looking through dump files to no avail. I also downloaded a third part tool that allows me to see system specific events that relate to errors and still nothing. I am doing nothing specific per say when this happens. It just happens. I did disable automatic restart and yet it still does this. i wish to make sure that I have no viruses on my computer first before I do anything else. I do have antivirus (BitDefender)

So the situation is that my computer randomly restarts. However, there's this a whirring noise that comes and goes, and when my computer restarts, the whirring noise comes and then the computer goes off. It reboots and sometimes my computer would load up without a problem, and sometimes my computer would go on a restarting rampage. I'm pretty sure it isn't a overheating problem because i did replace my previous fan with another one.

Also, this started occurring after I downloaded a torrent. I'm 99% sure this problem is a virus related issue but I don't know what to do. I downloaded malwarebytes anti-malware program to find any viruses but it didn't pick up anything... I'm no computer expert, just your ordinary user. And could anyone tell me which part of my computer is corrupted. What could I replace (I'm willing to buy a new hard drive, or motherboard, or w.e. it is) so that my computer would run normally?

Hi all - this is my first time ever using a forum like this and I hope someone can help. Our computer is running on WindowsXP Professional and randomly 'restarts itself'. It is not picky of what site you are on or what time of day. MAny of the times it happens with a CD in the drive or when trying to load one in, but it has happened other times on its own. In addition, the screen randomly "yellows". The fan has been increased incase it was heat related, but has just happened again. Can someone help?

The problem is in the subject. I have Win 7 Ultimate running on Intel Core i7 with 8G RAM and other bells and whistles. I bought this computer about a year ago, and the problem with the random restarting kicked in within a month of buying. The PC just switched off randomly without any warning and reboots. I doubt it's related to overheating as RealTemp hardly ever shows above 50-55 C for any of the processors. When this problem first appeared, my friend IT specialist recommended to run a thorough malware check as he had come across with a virus before that did just that. And indeed, I managed to catch and destroy one of those with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Then the problem went away for nearly a yer and quite recently it has re-appeared again. I have re-run the Anti-Malware but it couldn't find anything suspicious. The temperature is still hardly the reason. The PC reboots few times a day at very random times. And it's getting more and more frequent.

Can anyone advise on what this could be? I would greatly appreciate. By the way, as anti-virus I am using Kaspersky with regular automatic updates.

I though it was Windows so made a clean installation but the problems appeared again today (This weekend was fine), I took out a memory ram and opened the case and it has been working fine for now. I'm adding the log to the post. And thank you for your help and sorry if my english isn't good.

Remove MSI software and update Intel software. Check for GPU updates and try this:
In case you are having Timeout Detection & Recovery problems in Windows or you are getting constant popups like the Display Driver has stopped responding and has successfully recovered. If the operating system detects that six or more GPU hangs and subsequent recoveries occur within 1 minute, the operating system bug-checks (Blue Screens) the computer on the next GPU hang.
The first course of action in this case would be using the Display Driver Uninstaller from the below link :-
http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
Once you have downloaded it, run it, uninstall the current driver set. Reboot.
After this, install the Display drivers (AMD/NVIDIA) from either the Driver Media which you got with your Graphics Card (Mostly Desktops) or from the Manufacturer’s Support Website(For Laptops. Here is OEM is the manufacturer of your Laptop). In case of laptops, it is suggested to install the drivers only from the Manufacturer as they tweak the drivers to work with the switching between the external Graphics Card and the Internal Graphics processor embedded onto the motherboard.
That should fix your problem.
In case the problem is still there then there is a registry tweak available. It is purely a WORKAROUND and not a proper solution to the problem. Basically, it will simply delay the Timeout. You can download the Registry Fix ( TDR F... Read more

I've been having problems with my computer for a while. A couple of weeks ago I had an error message from my Avast Virus Protection that Malware was found. I first tried moving to chest, then I tried deleting and each time I restarted the computer, the same Malware message came up.

I then tried using my Uniblue Spy Eraser (before I checked on Uniblue on here and found it's not such a good thing). After running it, I restarted the computer and the message about the Malware didn't appear. When I tried to get online, I wouldn't even get my first page to load and the computer would automatically restart itself. After several episodes of this, I gave up for the night. I have since tried doing other things on the computer and mostly, it doesn't respond at all. When it starts up, a box pops up that says Windows Installer, then it changes to "Please wait while Windows configures Product Drivers". I try to cancel out of this and the system freezes up. I try to connect to the internet and the system freezes up. I've tried to get into other applications and the system freezes up. I finally did manage to figure out that my computer was trying to install software that came with my all-in-one printer. When I inserted the disk, it was able to complete the install. I continued to try to make progress and I managed to successfully remove Uniblue (I think). I also ran Spyware Blaster, SpyBot and finally AdAware AE. I noticed while running AdAware AE, I repeatedly received the follow... Read more

Ive got one external wd hard drive, my passport, and since some time ago it starts itself, like if it were unplugged and you plug it, so it scans all data all over again.

It has nothing to to with the program im using, because it can happen anytime. Most of times... i think... it happens when computer rests for a while and im not using it.

I tried, changing cables, changing the port i plug it in, but no changes. I have 2 more discs via usb and never do this thing, allthough i switched cables and ports between all of them, 2 works correctly and the third one still resets itself.

Im running windows xp64.

Googled for this but got no clues.

A:computer randomly restarts

In Windows XP, the default setting is for the computer to reboot automatically when a fatal error occurs. An alternative is to turn off the automatic reboot feature so you can actually see the error code/STOP Message (which is also known as the Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD)).

To change the recovery settings and Disable Automatic Rebooting, right-click on My Computer and select Properties > Advanced tab. Under "Startup and Recovery", click on the "Settings" button and go to "System failure". Make sure that "Write an event to the system log" is checked and that "Automatically restart" is unchecked. Click "OK" and reboot for the changes to take effect.

This will not cure your problem but instead of crashing and restarting you will get a blue diagnostic screen with information displayed that will allow you to better trace your problem. Next time your computer crashes copy down the entire error message (including all the numbers) and post it back here.

Hey,
I just built this computer:

AMD 2600+
Abit KV7 Motherboard
Thermaltake Volcano 11+ Processor cooler
512MB DDR-433 Kingmax
ATI 9000 Pro 128MB video card
120Gb Wester digital HD
30Gb Quantumn fireball HD
LG DVD RAM

My power supply is an ISO Switching Power Supply Model No. ISO-350D and it reads:

+3.3V = 16.0A
+5V = 25.0A
+12V = 13.0A

I'm not really sure what the problem is but my computer restarts randomly once every hour or so. I think it might be the power supply. I was told that the box came with a 300W power supply. On the power supply it says that the MAX OUTPUT POWER:250W so I guess it isn't 300W. I've reinstalled Windows XP Pro twice and the second time the computer stayed on longer but then rebooted. I turned off the Automatic Restart and got a blue screen with the following errors:

IRQOL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and another one saying

BAD_POOL_CALLER

I don't know what they mean but I don't think its good.

If anybody has had this problem or knows anything about it feel free to reply. I need all the help I can get.

Thanks

I started using a second pc and the same thing is happening, and it only seems to happen when the internet is connected. I've reinstalled a fresh copy of XP with SP2 but the problem still persists!

I get this error in event viewer-

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x100000d1 (0x00000038, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xba3f09ea). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini120108-03.dmp.

Hello all

My Desktop PC has started to act strange for the last few days.
It randomly restarts itself, without any errors or warnings.

It happens for no specific reason.
Sometimes while playing games(small old games)
Sometimes while browsing, i even checked and found that it happens while its idle too.
I even put the system in bios too, it restarted itself.

I tried removing all additional hardware too (dvd drives, additional HDD etc)

The system isnt overheated too, i manually checked all the parts , they are warm, but not overheated.

Please help me in resolving the issue.

Let me know what all info is required from me, i will collect and give.

I have already downloaded OCCT and HWinfo, as i read in a old thread here, but its too old, maybe new advancement happened after that :)

Not sure if this is the right category to put this under, but anyway, my Windows 7 laptop (Acer) keeps restarting and I'm not sure why. There's no virus, spyware or adware causing it.

I thought it was when I moved it in a certain way that maybe something inside was moving/disconnecting, but it restarted earlier and I wasn't moving it at all. Previously it has gone off when I've tipped it slightly sideways, although it doesn't happen everytime it's moved.

I also thought it might be overheating, but it's not really felt that hot most of the time and if that is the case I'd expect it to go off far more often. I've been plugging in a cooling pad so it cools it down, although I don't keep it on all the time.

Each time it restarts I find that when I open up Internet Explorer it has signed me out of everything. I sign back in, but at random points it signs me back out again for no reason. My Firefox browser is unaffected by the restart so not sure why IE goes weird.

Not sure what else could be causing it and why it is affecting logins on one browser. Anyone got any ideas what might be causing it?

Thanks.

It just randomly restarts itself and right now I feel lucky to be typing this bcoz it has not done the restart yet.

So I run scans with Avast Free Antivirus, SuperAnti Spyware and Malwarebytes' AntiMalware and it showed a bunch of viruses, malware, adware, etc. which were quarantined.

I thought that those bad germs were the problem but it still does the restart now and I cannot figure out why?

Please help me...What should I do?

Look in the C:\Windows\Minidump folder for the Minixxxxxx-xx.dmp crash dump files and zip 4 or 5 of them. Attach the zip or rar file here in your next post.

Hello aajas99 and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I see no signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean.Random reboots area normally related to a bad piece of hardware or a bad driver for a piece of hardware. I would suggest posting in the XP forum here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/56/windows-xp-home-and-professional/ . They will want to get some error code information so they can try and evaluate what is causing the reboot. Let them know that you have been to this forum and that no problems were found.Cheers.OT

Product code is 10B60023AU
It's around 3 months old, Started crashing every now and then (no blue screen of death) just on one moment and off the next.
Crashes started to get a lot more frequent (like 4 times an hour - sometimes).
Isolation tests, different monitors etc (made no difference)
So - did complete software re-image. (made no difference)
It's fully up to date and checked with the solution centre (detailed tests - no faults found)

So - took it in for warranty service, diagnosed graphics card fault and replaced the motherboard. Great I think.
That was yesterday, this morning (same thing - 4 crashes in less than an hour)

So - unless I drag this all the way back into the city for another 3 day holiday does anyone have an ideas ? Any known issues with these machines ?

TIA

A:M73 SFF - crashes and restarts randomly

I personally have a M73 SFF, and it's been solid as a rock (other than a problem with the Lenovo-supplied graphics driver, fixed by installing the driver downloaded from Intel), I don't know of any other issues.

When you say it's " just on one moment and off the next."   Do you mean it powers off by itself?

More information would be helpful (please read the 'help us to help you' sticky thread.)

Also i have checked my power supply and it is doing everything its supposed to fine, and also i whiped my hard drive clean and started over and it still remains. another thing i found is if i lower my hardware acceleration to the lowest it stops.

Nvidia GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X
512 MBs of RAM.

if you have anymore quesitons on my specs i can get them for you.

A:Randomly flickers and restarts

if i am not wrong,ur system is restarting automatically after windows XP screen show in ur desktop.

If that is the case u need to repaire it by pressing r in 2nd stage or repairing,it will be good if u run the advance mode and last good configuration.

by this way ur data will be safe.

(I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. If it is, please move it to the appropriate section)

Hi,
For the past months or so, my PC keeps restarting randomly without any warning. It's not the standard restart with the "logging off, saving settings, shutting down" message, but a sudden one like pushing the restart button on the PC's front panel.

It doesn't matter what I'm doing: it happened when I was using a web browser, playing a game or even the PC wasn't doing anything. The PC also restarts almost 100% when I try to power the PC up after using the stand by mode.

Applying a physical shock to the PC seems to trigger the restart as well. I used to put my headphone on the top of the PC case, and somehow the PC often restarts the moment I put down the headphone. Removing the PC's side panel also has the same effect. After discovering this, I "rattled" the side panel by rapidly sliding it, and the PC restarted every time.

My PC's spec is following:
OS:XP SP3
MB:P35-DS3R
CPU:E6750 at 3.2ghz(FYI the restart keeps happening even when I revert the CPU back to it's default clock)
GPU:Radeon 4870 1GB

I'm completely at loss what could be causing this. I would appreciate any help.

A:PC restarts randomly without warning

What you do is you shut it off.

You pull the power plug right out.

You press and hold the 'power on' button to discharge the capacitors.

You sit down at the computer table so as not to shuffle your feet and create a static charge.

You open the side of the desktop case and, before touching anything inside, you touch a case screw to make sure you are discharged.

You then start checking EVERY connection inside that case to secure.

EVERY CONNECTION!!!!

gl to ya!

I have a Windows 10 HP Pavilion Laptop (used to be Windows 8) which recently has began doing something odd. Whilst I'm using it, the screen will randomly turn black and the fan will stop as if it's turning off, before the computer boots itself up again, having closed everything I was on. Neither the shut down/restart screen come on, it just turns itself off without warning. It's definitely not overheating and never says there's a problem, but it's done this five or so times in the past week now, and it's really frustrating when I'm on a document and it just restarts itself.

Hello guys,
Lately my computer has been restarting randomly and for no reason. It doesn't seem to happen at any specific time - it can happen while playing games, browsing the net etc.
I was suspecting it was the GPU, so I tried replacing the GPU but this still continues to occur.
I would really appreciate any help

A:Computer restarts randomly, please help.

I have had the same problem since I did a clean install last August.  It almost always happens when browsing with Firefox.  I have switched to Chrome and it seems better.  The browser should have hardware acceleration disabled.  That seems to make a difference.  You could also try uninstalling and reinstalling your video drivers.

I'm not sure why, honestly. I'm going to try to find a system log, but until then..

I believe it could be caused by nero6, but I'm not sure. Any ideas on what to do?

My computer is seemingly spontaneously restarting. No matter what application I use the computer will just restart once in a while. It seems to happen when it's been turned off for a while and I turn it on. It will sometimes restart shortly after. It also may be a heat related problem, but doesn't seem to be from the CPU because the temperature is never very high. Any suggestions or need more info?

Have you tried turning off automatic restart? If you did, did it continue to restart? If you have not please disable it. Have you install any USB devices of late? Have you install any software or hardware?

Ok, my parents' computer restarts randomly. No warnings, no alerts, nothing. Just turns off then turns back on. However, it doesn't do it if I'm in safe mode, which makes me think it might be software related, instead of memory or something like that. I ran antivirus and Ad-Aware, but none came up. Any ideas?

Okay so I had my friend build me a computer a few months ago and every so often it would restart on its own.. Not doing a certain thing.. Playing a game.. Browsing the internet.. and so on.

I did eventvwr.msc in the Run option and I get two errors that pop up the same time my computer restarts

Unloading the performance counter strings for service WmiApRpl (WmiApRpl) failed. The Error code is the first DWORD in Data section

The performance strings in the Performance registry value is corrupted when process Performance extension counter provider. BaseIndex value from Performance registry is the first DWORD in Data section, LastCounter value is the second DWORD in Data section, and LastHelp value is the third DWORD in Data section.

I did try to do a google search.. but its so long nothing gets found..
And if you can't tell I don't know anything about computers.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Reccently my computer began to restart at random intervals in time while in use. I spent over a hour just trying to get it past the login screen because I would log in but then my screen went black and the computer restarted. When I finally got it to run therewere several run errors( ill get back with the exact messages in a few minutes) as well as issues with random Ads poping up so I went to my control pannel to look for anything unusual. i found a program called somthing like "adhelper." itriedto remove it but as soon as i hittheremoveoption igot nailed with Windows Anitvirus Pro, which I already knew was bad. my problem with getting all of this is my computer keeps restarting before I can really do anything.
I really need help with this; Does anyone have a clue what is going on?

Ok Ive managed to get my computer running for the moment and I finaly cut it from the network. I have also tamed WAV Pro for the moment. all of the errors I was getting were because of somthing with my network card so i don't think those are relavent at the momment buti'm going to have to fight a battle with Earthlink because they have killed my Norton despite the fact that I pay a monthy fee for it. any advise for the meantime?
