Intel ICH9 Family USB2 driver issues on bootup

Q: Intel ICH9 Family USB2 driver issues on bootup

This is very troubling, I get the attached error. Before it says no driver found it says "Searching preconfigured folders"

What I have done:
Installed the latest drivers from Compaq's website, including chipset
Scanned computer with Compaq's driver scanner, updated a video chipset it said was NEW
Downloaded the chipset drivers from Intel's website
Updated the BIOS
Tried using a blunt force driver installer (I don't normally use these)
Searched Windows Updates for any updates, including hardware
Under Device Manager, it doesn't show ANYTHING as unknown, exclamation, question, etc...all looks well there
Tried uninstalling USB from Device Manager and rebooted

Does anyone have ANY suggestions? It comes up everytime the computer boots, I have searched and searched Google and haven't really found anyone who has had this problem...

Windows 7 64-bit
Model: Compaq Presario CQ60-615DX

Motherboard sounds like to might be failing. My only suggestion is to try SlimDrivers. Other then that if the system is still under warranty you could try having it replaced.

Hello everyone,
Shortly ago I have a problem with ALL of my USB ports. They have an Code 39 Error and I can't find a cause.
The newest drivers are installed (Intel version 8.3.0.1011) and I can't reinstall them. Some programs have an answer, but only in 32 bits mode, so the give an error on installing and quit. (Even Error Expert fails)
Does anyone have an answer?

A:Intel ICH9 USB error 39

You probably need to repair the registry. You could try a repair install after backing up your data; or a third party program.

After that last big x64 update, including SP 2 I am getting BSOD on occaision attributed to Atapi.sys or Fltmgr.sys. It varies. I use DriverAgent to try and keep my drivers current, and it reports that almost all the drivers for the Intel Chipset ICH9 are now out of date. Checking them with Device Manager, I find that that almost all of them are a generic Microsoft Driver dated 2006. No matter how many times I install the Intel Chipset drivers, nothing ever changes. I am getting tired of the BSOD's in the middle of something important and would like to get the problem fixed. Anyone with any suggestions would be appreciated. I am using a Gigabyte P35-DQ6 motherboard.

Thank you

FIrst off, I'm not a big fan of programs like DriveAgent as I personally feel they're not always accurate. My opinion.

Those errors you're getting could also be indicative of an impending hard drive failure, so you need to look there as well. You might also check the SATA/IDE cables to and from the hard drive for looseness.

Also Intel's chipset drivers usually need to be installed right after the OS install, and if you've installed them initially, than I seriously doubt they're the problem.

Check for hard drive issues - Check your hard disk for errors - Windows Vista Help

You could also run system file checker - System Files - SFC Command

Hi there, I upgraded my Aspire S7-392 to Windows 10 a few weeks ago, and while most things seem to be working fine, the driver for the Intel (R) HD Graphics Family display adapter has had the yellow exclamation mark of 'something's wrong' next to it ever since. I'm now unable to plug my laptop into the external monitor I use for work (as nothing happens when I do so), and graphics performance is visibly slowed down (to the point of unusability) when playing even fairly low-demand games. All of which would seem to indicate that there's a pretty major problem with the drivers. I spent literally 10 hours on the phone to Microsoft customer service trying to figure out the issue, but all they could tell me after a fairly intensive investigation was that they didn't know what the issue was, and to wait for driver updates from Acer or Intel. I have the latest driver from the Acer support website installed (although there doesn't seem to be one specifically for Windows 10), and I've rolled back and updated and tried several versions of the drivers from there, but all seem to have the same issue. I also downloaded the Windows 10 drivers from Intel that are supposedly specifically for my processor and graphics setup, but when I try to install them, it says that my computer doesn't meet the requirements (which is pretty confusing when I have the exact hardware the driver is designed for).I've searched these support forums for other Aspire S7 users having similar... 1. Download the "Intel Driver Update Utilty" 2. Go to device manage and uninstall/delete your Intel graphics driver3.  Run the Intel driver update utility.  Your current graphics driver is a custom Acer/Intel  OEM graphics driver.  Thats why it won't let you install it.  If the generic graphics driver that the update Utilty installs doesn't work quite right, then you'll have to go back to the driver that's on Acers website.  If don't want to use the Intel driver update Utilty, then you'll have to download the zip driver file instead of the .exe driver......and then use the "have disk method" to install it. It's probably easier to just use the Intel driver update Utilty.

Ran into a problem with my laptop... If I watch something on Youtube, my graphics driver stops working.
I can't find any Win8 driver for my graphics card so I'm using a Win7 driver that I installed in compatibility mode.
Does anyone know how I can stop it from crashing? And will Intel give out a Win8 driver for the Mobile Intel 4 Express Chipset family?

The crashing is making me go insane because I have to restart Chrome for the video to work again.

Have you got the version 8.15.10.2702?, I think it's the latest, if you want you could try different version of driver and see whether it works better, for example, you could try 8.15.10.2697, it may say it's for different chipset but worth a try.

Hello,

I've been to Intel's website, and downloaded both the .exe and the .zip files of the subject driver, and neither one of the installation packages work. It gets toward the end and comes back with "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver installer has encountered a problem and needs to close." I've also reported this to Intel's tech support via email (as this is the only method of contact that they seem to accept). I was asked a bunch of questions by way of a form, that had nothing to do with their installation package crapping out. So to make a long story short, I have to wait until Intel gets back with me, but really need the driver in a more expedient amount of time. Would any of you kind folks happen to have it available to send to me? Hopefully?

Thank you,

WThorpe

Hello guys, first time poster here

So i'm using a Gateway nv78, its a pretty cheap computer. It uses the above mentioned 4 series chipset integrated video card. Now the problem im having comes to the drivers and how it effects my game playing performance. i recently wiped my hard drive because i was planning on selling the pc, however i dont plan to sell it anymore. Now, my previous display driver had allowed me to turn my graphics settings down really low, thus allowing me to play (starcraft 2) at a playable FPS. now with my computer being essentially reformatted and using the drivers suggested by gateway, i can't adjust these settings to a low enough point to allow me to play these games. I've tried installing what i remember to be the driver i had before, but it is now telling me that said driver is not compatable with my machine, and that i should use the manufacturer's drivers.

now if anyone understood all of that, and can perhaps tell me how to get better drivers, or bypass the error of not letting me download these alternative drivers.

I'm clearly a tech noob, so any information you guys can shed would be MUCH appreciated

thanks alot
eric

A:Intel 4 Series Express Chipset family driver help.

Hi! ericw616, welcome to 7F

Do you still have the 7 OS on the system? we'd need to know the model, Starter, basic, Home Home Premium, pro, ultimate?

How serviceable is the notebook? Does it run pretty well?

Did you save back-ups?

If you haven't done too much with it you might be able to recover some files by using a file recovery app like PhotoRec - CGSecurity To get some information back. I wouldn't use those files, but it might give you enough info to jog your memory to where you could remember the right driver, and then you could go back and re-download it to re-install.

The driver page for your NV78:
Downloads & Support Documents - Notebook / NV Series / NV78

Intel's site, but there again you would need to know the make of OS to match up the proper drivers:

You could use this to identify your chipset :

First of all here is an Cnet Archive link for your computer that has detailed specifications on the right hand side of the page, you will have to scroll down slightly to see them and according to that info you have a Intel 915GV Express Chipset. But to be absolutely sure you can follow this tutorial from Windows Seven Forum to accurately detect hardware and use the info to update your system specs here at Eight Forums.

System Info - See Your System Specs

Are you trying to run these drivers with Win 8 (Windows Developer Preview) if so the installer has to be run in compatibility mode

Change settings for all users first

Then Choose Windows 7 as OS and run as an administrator.

Running Windows 8 on a Dell laptop, I've attached a log file with all my computer's info.

The issue I'm having is that my Integrated Graphics won't update even though I'm using a signed driver from intel (This)
As you can see this driver is v9.3.0.1026 from 11/06/2012 while if you check my log file you'll see that I'm still on v8.15.10.2702 from March 2012.

I tried following what was suggested over here, but that driver is older than the one I'm currently using. I think I'm doing something wrong because in the post he says the version number is 15.17.18.2555, which is way past what intel is claiming is the version number for my IGC. And when I looked through my log I didn't see anything with a version number near that...

Anyway help would be very much appreciated!
Happy New Year!

A:Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family Driver

It was recently updated. Ill update my post.
And the Version number is the last number, which is 2555. I change the numbers so it matches windows 8 numbers.

EDIT: Sorry it's taking so long to update the driver, I'm having trouble with signing it.

EDIT 2: Whoop dee doo.. Turns out I don't have the original certificate and keys I used to create all my previous drivers with. I'll update the Custom Certificate Installer again.

I have an HP Pavilion dv6 laptop (Intel Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.20GHz with Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family Video Adapter) and have recently upgraded it from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Thus far, all applications seem to run quite well on Windows 10 with a couple of exceptions (i.e., Chief Architect's Home Designer Pro 2016 and onOne's Perfect Photo Suite) - both of which are fairly graphics intensive and indicate that an upgraded video adapter driver is needed to function properly.

Is there a Windows 10 video driver available for my laptop configuration? If so, I can't seem to find one - from Intel, HP or Microsoft. I'm sure that someone on this forum knows for sure!

Thanks in advance for your response.

Did you try the Toshiba website? Since you did not specify the operating system this is the closest I could get: http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK

Be sure to enter the appropriate version of Windows in the box.

Also, it would have narrowed down the search if you could have provided the name of the country in which you bought the laptop.

Ok .. well it is pretty simple, maybe. I have found that my internet sometimes slows .. to like 5 Mb/s, where normally it is around 18 Mb/s.

The solution .. to uninstall the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Driver from device manager and reboot. My internet .. all of a sudden goes back to the normal 18-20 Mb/s speed.

The driver is the Microsoft Driver .. ver 8.1.510.2013 dated 2013-05-10

Looking for thoughts. Nothing else changes .. and my internet speed is instantly tripled.

I am using Speedtest.net to measure my internet speed.

EDIT .. I downloaded a new driver ver 8.18.621.2013 from ASUS and it was slightly newer. But my performance was worse ... and I removed it and rebooted and my internet speed increased substantially.

I have a set of HP Z210 Workstations with E3-1245-V2 Xeon Cpu's, SSD boot drives and varying sizes of memory from 8-16GB 1600Mghz DDR3 ECC. We use Windows 8 Enterprise for these machines, with Hyper-V enabled.
We get regular driver failures from the 2 sets of USB controllers on the machines (Mainly and issue for the KB & Mouse) that can only be resolved with a full power down (not restart) and a power up. This happens at least once every 1-3 days per machine.
I had gone through the HP support, but they have advised this isn't an issue on their side, and I had agreed all along. I was just hoping to get some traction by notifying them. Anyway, after a lengthy trouble shooting session, we found that once Hyper-V
was enabled, the fault arose.
As it was an Intel chip, they I asked them. They advised that on Windows 8, the drivers are supplied via windows update and that it was not their issue.
So, how can I get this resolved? Not through HP or Intel, surely through MS? Maybe not. Disabling Hyper-V is not desired as I the teams with these PC's are developers and require local visualization. Also, we have templates ready for Hyper-V, I don't really
want to remove Hyper-V and use Virtual box or VMWare workstation. but I am at wits end with the fault and lack of help from the vendors.
Please help.

A:Hyper-V causes Intel(R) Series/C200 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller driver to fail

I have found a work around for this fault with the USB failure - ENSURE YOU POWER  THE MACHINE OFF - DO NOT RESTART.
Its almost like the restart doesn't initialise the device correct, thus causing a failure.

Is Intel HD Graphics Family better than Intel G41 express chipset?

The name is only Intel HD Graphics Family there isnt a number after it in dxdiag

A:Is Intel HD Graphics Family better than Intel G41 express chipset?

Intel G41 express is the very old, Core 2 equivalent on-motherboard-gpu aka Eaglelake. It only supports up to dx10, it has awful and old drivers, and incomplete opengl support (less apps can run on it). It can idle in recent games like Dota 2 with up to 30fps with everything on low. Key word: idle. Don't even think about playing under more than 15-20fps.

Intel HD Graphics Family is on-cpu-die-gpu aka Sandy Bridge, it's still old now, but does have support for dx11 and opengl, and it has a lot more raw power than x4500(g41), depending on the cpu. It even supports overclocking with sizeable improvements.

Really there is no contest between the two families.

So I just got a new computer at work, Dell Latitude E7240. I'm running 32-bit Windows 7 (I have to have 32-bit due to some software I have). I installed all of the drivers but my bluetooth doesn't seem to work. I had a similar issue on my last machine, Latitude E6440. I tried using the same driver I used to fix the E6440, but that didn't seem to completely work on my new machine.

Basically, every time I restart my machine, the bluetooth driver doesn't seem to work. I go to device manager, right click on Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R), click on Update Driver Software. Then I go to Browse For Driver Software On Your Computer, then I go to Let Me Pick From A List Of Device Drivers On My Computer, uncheck Show Compatible Hardware. In the Manufacturer List I go to Intel Corporation and in the Model List I select Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) (Intel). This installs Driver Version 17.1.1411.504 (date is 11/26/2014). I have to go thru this every time I restart my computer.

I found a coworker with the same machine (except hers is a 64-bit Win7), with a different driver. She has a Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) 4.0 Adapter with a Driver Version 3.1.1307.364 (date is 8/8/2013). Her's works perfectly everyday. But I understand this is probably the driver for the 64-bit.

Can someone help me find the equivalent for a 32-bit Win7? I've searched endlessly on Google with no results. Thanks!

So I went to update my graphics driver but Intel's updater said this computer uses a custom driver meaning I'd have to get it from this website. I did but it said that the driver was not validated for this computer, which is impossible because it was custom made for this computer's hardware. So I manually installed it and now it keeps giving me problems like seemingly randomly crashing with "display driver stopped responding" type errors when I play games, often either rendering them unplayable or crashing them, seemingly depending on the game. Some of them have no problem with this I think but after the latest update to Phantasy Star Online 2 for example, it keeps crashing with this error after a couple of minutes or so. Exactly what driver am I even supposed to be using?!

Dear Lsz: In answer to your question regarding the sound driver for your intel machine. I had the same problem with my machine with no sound. I went to the realtek site and download the drivers for an xp machine for the ac97 sound card. It is in a zip file and works great.http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#AC

It is the fourth one down on this page. I have used it 3 times now on several machines and the sound is great. Hope that this helps.

Hey all,
I've had to leave Intel Management Engine Interface disabled for awhile now due to ongoing driver/compatibility issues in Windows 10.
I've tried re-installing several different Intel AMT driver versions now including DELL support recommended 11.0.0.1153.
After reboot the system just hangs on DELL loading screen for about 2min before finally loading desktop then upon checking device manager Intel MEI shows the below error:
The error is a code 10 (STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE).
Checking Event Viewer is full of warnings and errors from source MEIx64:
The Intel(R) Management Engine Interface is being reset.
Intel(R) Management Engine Interface driver has failed to perform handshake with the Firmware
My system will no longer resume from sleep either after hitting 'Esc' key just ends up rebooting which I'm pretty certain is also related...rather annoying to say the least having to always shutdown when not in use.

Using System Update, I am notified of a Critical Update:?Proceeding with the update, it performs a reset however, does not successfully complete - i.e., all steps are completed but device driver is not updated and the update re-appears in the System Update repeatedly.I also visited the Support page for my device, downloaded the package manually and attempted to complete installation (as an Administrator), unsuccessfully.  The install reaches the point where it seeks a Driver Installation Package and continuously fails, regardless of where the Setup files are placed.  I've posted a sequence of screenshots below.????Please advise of solution as I experience the same endless loop of unsuccessful updates with other Intel updates via the System Update Tool.

Hey. We've got a Toshiba Laptop that I've fixed in various ways over the years by googling any problems, usually finding that somebody else has already posted and somebody else has solved it. Always been thankful for this. Now for the first time I've come across something that nobody else seems to have had fixed by the collective tech network of the Web:Problem: Bootup begins by powering on. Toshiba screen displays. "Press F2 for system utilities, press F12 for Boot Menu." as usual. should usually go to a windows XP Home loadup screen. Instead, the screen goes to a black-and-gray console screen, with the letter "j" and a flashing cursor in the top left. The only keys that do anything from here are Ctrl-alt-del, which restart the same process from the Toshiba Screen.System Utilities or Boot Menu doesn't seem to help. I know I want to boot from the HDD. I select this and it still ends in an innocuous letter "j" and no signs of further booting. All the components seem to be present in System Utilities. My HDD is definitely there.Upon Googling "bootup letter j" I find that this is most often experienced when you're booting Windows or Ubuntu from a USB stick, both of which seem exotic to me. Hello,

Here is what has happened.

My computer was built last December, and has run like a clock, a very fast happy clock.
I went to download a new version of iTunes and encountered issues with iTunes not installing correctly. I then noticed I was missing my Open With... command, so I decided to do a re-install.

I downloaded every new driver from Gigabytes site, and just had horrible issues trying to get Intel Pre Install SATA driver & Intel Rapid Store installed.

I successfully got Intel Rapid Store installed, because I noticed that Gigabyte was not offering .NET 4.5 which Rapid Store needed. (Their download is .NET 4.0)

However, for past hour I have been struggling to get Intel Pre Install SATA in. (I think)
When I extract the file I am greeted by this-
A folder that says 64 Bit
Inside that folder is the following-
iaahcic
iaAHCIC
iaStorA.sys
iastorac
iaStorAC
iaStorF.sys

I know when I first built this system I always had setup, or some exe file and would just click that and items would install. What do I do with these files?
I even tried to go to device manager and click update drivers, but when I direct it to this location nothing happens. (Or at least I don't think anything does). How do I know if it installed? Everything else I install (Intel INF, Management, Marvell etc... I can see in Programs & Features.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

A:How Do I Install Intel Pre-SATA Driver on this build (& other issues)

The IRST Pre-Install driver is meant to be used with RAID. For example, if you set your storage configuration as RAID 0, Windows setup will ask to provide the Pre-install driver. When we do a regular install in AHCI mode, Windows will use it's own generic AHCI driver "msahci.sys" to access the SATA interface. After install completes and IRST installed, SATA driver will be updated to the latest version instead of generic one. In short, you don't need to manually install the F6 floppy version of IRST.

The 100 MB partition may came handy if you enable full disk encryption with "Bitlocker". Unless you need to create four primary partitions on the disk, there is no real benefit in excluding this partition.

I'm having trouble installing the drivers for a Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller in Windows 7 on a Gateway/Motion Computing M1300 tablet.

Before you say "DriverMax" please note that Windows 7 is the only operating system installed on the tablet. I hope there's another way to get it working.

Here's the thing that strikes me as odd: I have gotten it to work perfectly, but as soon as I restart it goes back to its old ways (default VGA controller driver, etc).

Here's what I do to get it working:

1) I run the setup file that came with the driver I downloaded from Intel (version 14.19.50), either natively or in Windows XP compatibility mode,
2) The setup software asks me to restart, and I comply

When the computer boots back up after those steps everything is working just fine, BUT then a Windows prompt appears telling me that I need to restart in order to complete the driver configuration. When I restart hardware once again has trouble.

Here are some screenshots that took while the driver was working correctly:

Why does it say that it will uninstall the drivers when restarted?

And here are some screenshots taken while the driver is NOT working correctly:

My real problem with not having the correct driver installed is not that display functions are lost (though they are), but that the Hibernate and Stand By modes are disabled.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a way to keep Windows 7... Read more

Hello - Just received my M900 Tiny last week and an very impressed.  However, there is one nagging issue I wish Intel and Lenovo would address.  The HD 530 Graphics Driver has issues.  There is a thread on the Intel site with numerous complaints of screen flickering or parts of the screen turning black for a second before returning to normal.  This is happening to me.  Intel says they are working on it.  In addition to the issues I've encoutered above, I've received at least three system messages that the HD 530 Graphics driver has momentarily failed but then recovered.  I've contacted Lenovo on the phone, but the service person was not very confident on directing me to the latest driver.  She first directed me to drivers for discreat graphic adapters, but then sent me to the generic video driver page for the M900 Desktops.  Since none of the machines listed specifically indicated M900 Tiny - some mentioned M700 Tiny - I'm holding off until I get a good understanding if the driver will correct the problem.. Since M900 Tiny was recently released I do not think much is available yet for driver updates. The three system messages indicated the driver was for Windows 8.1 and I have a Windows 10 system.  So I hope Lenovo can get the fix soon (update it for Windows 10) and apply it via the Lenovo Companion software.    Is anyone else having similar issues with thier M900 Tiny? Here is the ... Well I've downloaded the video driver for the HD530 from the Lenovo site - same driver support told me to install.  Well the install did absolutley nothing - still the same flickering issues and "black" screen flashes when jumping between folders in Outlook 2016.  I'm getting a warning that the HD Graphics driver has failed momentarily but recovered (for Windows 8.1).  Strange because I'm running Windows 10 Home Guess I'm going to have to escalate the issue through Intel since Lenovo does not have an updated video driver.  My driver has a date of 10/1/2015 and a version of 20.19.15.4300.  You would think Lenovo would have resolved this issue before they released a new model.

Of course after the system has been shut down to cool down. But as bad as it is it could be a bad card, make sure yo have all the latest drivers. But since this appears after a couple of hours i would hedge a bet it is overheating, which may have caused your card to go bad as well. My opinion. fabe

Intel integrated cards on laptops are definitively not meant for gaming as they have lower clock rates and a small amount of video memory, you won't be able to run most games at a good resolution and most of them will lag a lot

So is it possible for me to uninstall my current graphics driver and then install the latest Intel version? I'm not really sure where to go from here. Thanks in advance guys, I hope you all have a great holiday!

A:Issue Updating Intel (R) HD Graphics Family

Hello TSSG and welcome to Seven Forums.

Intel has many different series of graphics: 2500, 3000, 4000, etc. Some utilities will simply use the generic designation of "Intel Graphics Family" whenever they detect an Intel driver rather than name a specific version.

When a company like Intel issues a driver, each computer manufacturer is free to customize that driver for their own line of computers. I suspect that Dell did exactly that for its line of Inspiron computers. Because the Intel driver has been customized by Dell, if you try to install the latest and greatest directly from Intel, it could seriously hose your computer. Quick short story:

About a year ago Intel and Windows Update said a new driver was available for my Intel HD 3000 Graphics. I installed it and immediately my Sony Vaio began crashing, hanging, and doing all kinds of weird stuff. Intel and Sony both told me the same thing: never use a non-customized driver if the computer manufacturer had done any modifications to the driver. It took Sony about 6 months to offer their own customized version of the driver. I installed it and haven't had any problems.

So my advice is to wait until Dell does its customizing and then, if you really, REALLY have to get the latest and greatest, get it from Dell. When it comes to drivers, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I'm still fighting this problem after a couple weeks now.

The codec/driver for my graphics chipset (Intel 945 Express Chipset Family) will not update no matter what, it seems like.

When I try to upgrade by the Device Manager, it throws an error that doesn't help me whatsoever.

"Access is denied."

I've even tried to run it in Safe Mode, as the Administrator. I don't know what I can do.

That must be a fairly old motherboard. The ICH7 chipset is pretty old. This "hardware" is the I/O Control Hub and the LPC portion handles legacy devices such as floppies. The drivers for the chipset would have been provided by the motherboard manufacturer on a floppy or disc. You might try the SFC Scannow command to make sure the driver isn't corrupt. Or you can try and let Windows find a driver by clicking on "Update Driver" but I doubt one will be found.

SFC Scannow Command: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Added:
I forgot to mention that Intel might have universal drivers for the chipset but these often don't implement special features of the motherboard. The best source for chipset drivers are from the motherboard manufacturer.

Hiya,

I am currently using an ASUS motherboard with the Intel 82495G Dual Core Family Chipset. I have been trying to install the PNY GeForce 210 PIC EX video card with no luck. I have gone into device manager and disabled the onboard video with no luck. I do not see a place in the bios to change the graphics option. The device manager does not show the card at all. Any ideas?

I have Toshiba Satellite L300 with Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family graphics card. I download older drivers from intel site. Unpack it using Total Commander, right click on setup.exe, properties, compatibility tab and check "Run this program in compatibility with" and choose Windows 7. Hi,

I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 660-4858. Service tag-number JPYXD5J. It originally came with W7, but I installed Vista Ultimate x64 on it. Now there are several drivers not working (when looking in device manager). I managed to solve most of them but there are still two I can not solve:

1. Network Controller. On Dell's website there are only drivers for W7 when looking up this device. According to the UKD ("UnknownDevices") software, the details for this device are:
Atheros Communications Inc
Dell Computer Corp
However, on Dell's website it appears to call the WLAN adapter (which I assume this 'network controller' is?) Dell DW1506 WLAN 802.11 b/g/n . Version of that driver is 9.2.0.484, A01, but it's only for Windows 7.
Any suggestions how I should find the latest driver for this device, for Vista??

2. Intel(R) HD Graphics Family (Dell's driver site calls it "Intel Graphics Controller" and "Intel UMA driver"). I actually did download drivers for this, supposedly for Vista. However, not thru Dell's site (they only have the driver for W7 and W8). But still there is an exclamation mark next to it in device manager, and every time I turn the computer on, this message is displayed on the icon tray:
Incompatible display adapter has been disabled.
At least one display adapter on the system has been disabled because its driver is not compatible with the driver for the VGA adapter.

Hi, I hope someone can help me.
I was using the Paint app on my vista when it started to become very slow and unresponsive.I was still able to use it but it was very very slow...then it started to totally freeze up my computer to where I couldn't even get task manager to come up
so I could end the program.. it got progressively worse and now I can't use the paint app at all.

I checked the laptop with a diagnostic tool that I found and it said there is a problem with the
Intel Graphics Driver Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset family 7.15.10.1591.
This was not really an error message that popped up, it just was a "statement" that said it
was not working properly and gave me suggestions on what to do such as checking for driver
updates, cleaning registry.
I checked and there are no updates for this driver, it is up to date. I scanned the registry and swept it and I'm still having the problem.
Still can't use the paint app at all.
Can I fix this driver? Should I do a restore to an earlier date? This only started happening a day or so ago.

Also when I checked the status in device manager it says that the device is working properly!
That really confused me..because one part of the computer says there's a problem and the other
says it's working fine. I am praying that you're not going to tell me to uninstall and re-
install the driver ...I'm afraid that may be too advanced for me.

If your system is an OEM build, such as Dell/Gateway/Compaq/ etc.

Go to your computer manufacturers website, where you should be able to find all the drivers you need.

If your computer is a custom built job, then you should go to your mobo manufacturers website for the drivers.

Hi, I came here because there were no information about solving a problem with this Chipset (Mobile Intel? 4 Series Express Chipset Family), but I find a video that explains that we have to get an older version for this chipset, not the one that has the WDDM 1.1.

So, the first you have to do is download this. It's a Graphic Accelerator from Intel, so don't worry about third party programs. Then you just have to install it and restart your computer and you will have this if you have this options available then everything it's okay, because this means that you have the proper version of the driver. I know it's a little bit complicated to explain, but this is the best solution I have found. The last version won't let you play games like counter-strike nor run applications such as emulators for android. With this, you can play Counter-Strike, Minecraft and enjoy other features that you can't with the latest version.

I hope this can help someone in someway, because it was a little hard to find this solution.

EDIT:

I forgot to mention that you have to disable Microsoft Update, because this feature will update your graphic card to the latest version (the one that has the WDDM 1.1 thing).

Hi,

I just bought a VGA splitter in hopes of attaining an extended desktop but instead it is only a mirror image (one screen duplicated twice).

I though this woiuld work cause the place I used to work had splitters coming out of one video card running an extended desktop. So I bought a splitter thinking that is all I would need.

But from reading about similar problems it seems like I might need a new VGA card.

Currently I have an Intel r g33/g31 express chipset family, will this card be sufficiant enough to run an extended dsktop across 2 monitors? Am I missing some settings or something?

Or do I just need a new card? If so what kind of card would allow me to achieve my goal of an extended desktop at the lowest cost?

Thank you,

A:Extended Desktop Problems W/ intel r g33 g31 express chipset family

If you want to run 2 monitors in extended desktop you need a video card with 2 outputs. Depending on your motherboard, it will use AGP or probably if it's newer (last 2 years) PCIe (PCI Express). Your onboard video is not going to give you extended desktop even with a splitter.

Hi there,

I have purchased recently a Toshiba Laptop with (Win XP Pro. Sp1) preloaded, the computer came with no utilities that can customize the HDD settings So I had to use Partition Magic to create a secondary HDD.

I noticed after a while a huge drop in performance in the Operating system and Application level that I couldn’t recover it, so I had to re-install windows from unlicensed ver. Of Win XP Pro. And decided to not to use the Toshiba recovery CD’s as the problem came from them.

When I re-Installed the OS I have noticed a major increase in the speed of the computer on the long & short run, however I’m facing a hardware error in the USB2 Driver, that It cannot recover unless I install SP1 for XP that I cannot do it with unlicensed ver. Of XP.

I have tried to crack this security by using a special program, but It didn’t work, as It allowed critical auto updates to be installed but not the services pack.

I would like to know if there is any software or driver can help me sort out this problem.

Thanking you in advance for your assistance.

Hi, I've trawled everywhere trying to look for a solution to a baffling problems, so I wonder if anyone knows what I need to do.

My PC (spec below) has been running fine for a while. No major problems. Yet I've just bought a USB 2.0 PCI card and everytime I put it in, the PC wouldn't load up. When I take the card out, the PC loaded fine, but as soon as I put it back in, it wouldn't even turn on.

I thought the motherboard might need updating, so I used flash855 and when I put in the USB card, it loads up (so far so good). However, when I now try to load XP, it bluescreens and comes up with an error STOP : 0x0000007F (0x000000D, 0x0000000, 0x0000000, 0x0000000).

Is this to do with my BIOS, or have I found something else out now!

Here's the spec.

MOTHERBOARD : Gigabyte GA-6VX7-4X
CPU : Pentium 3 800 / 133Mhz
RAM : 1 Gb (2 sticks of 512) PC-133 SDRAM
HDD : Western Digital 80gig

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Hard Drive: 200 GB
Video Card: Mobile Intel(R) 945GM

A:How do I enable AGP on my Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset family card?

From what I've read, you have an onboard graphics card(on your motherboard) I'm not sure if you have just that onboard card, or if you just have another card. If so, you could go into your BIOS(usually delete/f1/f2 at startup, one of those keys) read through it a bit. I know that sometimes there's an 'enable AGP' option, or anything that looks like it.

However, it doesn't look like you have an AGP card in your laptop.
Check that out first though. You might also want to check if you have the correct drivers for your card installed. On a side notenboard cards aren't very good for games, but they might handle a few.

I was using Driver Detective to update my device drivers and after installing a new driver the device displayed with a yellow exclaimation mark in Device Manager so I removed it and rebooted. I was led to believe that it would reinstall. This device is no longer listed in Device Manager. What effect will this have on my system? Also, could this be a problem with the system board? I recently installed a replacement system board before this event took place.

I just ran Dell diagnostics on my brand Dell inspiron R17 7737 in with an Nvidia GeForce GT 750M and the video primary surface test fails of intel (R) HD graphic family with an error WCV07-LXQ.  In windwo 10 and The Windows 10 task manager says that the board has the latest drivers and is working properly.  I haven't a clue as to what, if anything, is wrong or what to do about it.

A:My windows only reads Intel Graphic Card Family instead of nvidia 840M

Hi Welcome to Seven Forums ... Looks as if you have switchable Graphics ...

As you have Disabled the Intel GPU ... You will need to Re-Install the Driver ..
To achieve this go to the Dell Website and Download the Driver ...

After clean installing Windows 10 version 1607 build 14393  I got the following in the updates history :
Intel - Other hardware - Intel(R) 8 Series SMBus Controller - 9C22
Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) HD Graphics Family
both failed to install nevertheless other updates and cumulative software were installed successfully .
In the Device Manager I find those drivers installed in their places but for the first there is no way I can know whether I have the latest version or not.
Plus there are some more pci bridges which when they get updated from the Device Manager they change name and move upwards .
How do I handle this? Shall I force update all those drivers in the System Devices category or just leave everything as it is now in the screenshot?
All the above in a dell inspiron 15 3542 2104 running windows 10 64-bit.
