New HP Pavilion HPE freezes - Win 7 Pro

Q: New HP Pavilion HPE freezes - Win 7 Pro

I have seen this topic before on the forum, and I understand that the recommendation is to post a new topic.

This is a brand new computer.  Out of the box, it didn't recognize that the LAN cable was plugged in.  After uninstalling the LAN adapter and letting Windows re-install it, it worked.  The computer is set not to sleep at all, but the display was set to turn off after 15 min.  After a couple of hours, moving the mouse or clicking would not re-enable the display, and I had force a shutdown and reboot.  Also, the LAN adapter again didn't recognize the presence of the cable (no lights on the port) until I uninstalled and re-installed it.  The LAN adapter has stayed on after that, but the freezing continued.  I set the display to not sleep, and that seemed to stop the freezing.

I was using a VGA cable with the DVI-VGA adapter.  I have now switched to a DVI cable.

I have updated all drivers, performed all updates from HP and Microsoft.

Before I wipe out all my work transferring my stuff from the old computer to the new one, and restoring the computer to factory original, I thought that someone here might have a less drastic solution.  Here are the reports from MiniToolBox and Speccy, and any help will be greatly appreciated.

A: New HP Pavilion HPE freezes - Win 7 Pro

FWIW:  I don't think that having 3 different versions of your AV program installed...is helping the situation.

I would uninstall and keep it off...Advanced SystemCare 6 (Version: 6.2) .

Then run the chkdsk /r command and see how the system runs.

If necessary, run the sfc /scannow command...see how it runs.

After about a minute of using my laptop or allowing downloads for windows 10 it freezes and i cannot do anything apart from move my mouse. I cant load task manager, all I can do is power it off using the power button, this has been like this for the last 3 days. Any idea how to fix this?

Hi, I have a Pavilion SL3850 that freezes up multiple times per day. When it freezes up, the system is not reachable though the network, and the keyboard does not react on events - the numlock led does not change. The screen remains frozen, with all text and images displayed as it was. There is no mouse response anymore.

The system is running Windows 7 64x. The fans are working, and I checked the system and memory with the HP diagnostics tools. I also replaced the root hard disk and restored the system through WHS. I also tried restoring the system to a month before the problems started, but it froze just as frequent. There is no indication in the system log about the freeze, apart from a report that it has stopped unexpectantly. This stop time is at the time of the freeze, not at the time when I switch off the system to reboot it.

What can this be? A PSU failure?

Any help would be appreciated, it is a nice system with Quad core CPU, it would be a waste to replace it.

Hi

I am running an HP Pavilion 6900 with Windows 7 as my operating system. The laptop came preinstalled with Vista, and I assumed most of the problems which I had were Vista related. That has proved to be true, with the exception of one irritating issue.
The laptop freezes arbitrarily and regularly when it is left alone for about 20 minutes or more. Not every time, but at least daily. I have changed the settings in power management to never standby.
Sometimes, this means that I have a blank screen and can do nothing. Sometimes, my mouse will react, I will see the desktop, but cannot do anything.
The only solution is to do a hard reboot.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

My pavilion 7935 worked fine until I tried to reboot last night, when it hung on the blue HP screen. I have unplugged, rebooted many times, and still no success. I can press f1 and get the "entering setup" to come up on the blue screen, but it never enters setup, still just hangs.

I have a removable hard drive that I was trying to boot into when it froze. I have tried to reboot with the drive in and out, with no success. I cannot try a boot disk, because it will not get to that stage, it freezes before it accesses any drives.

I have removed the cmos battery, and replaced it, but still no success.

any ideas?

phil

Welcome to TSG
"entering setup" do you mean cmos/bios setup, and when you removed the cmos battery did you replace it or put the old one back in. As its trying to boot do you get any beeps or lights or HD noises?? also what OS are you running??

This is not an upgrade from some other Windows version to Widnows 10.The laptop was purchased new with Windows 10 installed right out of the box. It freezes periodically, and has to be manually powered down with the power switch and powered back up. It doesn't matter which application I am using. It freezes when I am using Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Explorer or any other application. FYI the laptop is an HP 17-g121wm, and I am running Internet Explorer 11. All microsoft updates have been applied. And no, this is not an upgrade from some other windows version.Aside from wiping the disk and doing a full recovery is there another solution to this problem.

Hello the first thing that I would check if it were my machine would be the temprature.

Post a shot of the Temps with Speed fan  using the snipping tool please.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/use-snipping-tool-capture-screen-shots#1TC=windows-8

Also Run the machine for a bit in safemode with networking and tell us if you get any freezing there.

If you have no freeze in safemode then we are looking at an issue with one of your start up or services which can be fixed easily.

Also might as well run the junkware removal tool and post the log this will give me an idea on the next steps to take as well.

My laptop used to work really well, until I reseted to factory mode, lately I noticed its getting slower than usual. Now its at the point where I starts up and the mouse as well as the desktop screen freezes on its own. And I haven't even opened anything yet. Do far I checked and there were no viruses and PC is up to date. So I wanna know how can I fix this, without having to buy a new laptop, cuz I had it since 2014.

I was one of the lucky people who got an advance retail copy of Win 7 Ultimate. I've installed it on my HP Pavilion DV7 laptop and have discovered that both sleep mode and hibernate mode cause the computer to lock up completely requiring a forced power down. When entering sleep or hibernate mode the screen will shut off, you'll see a few seconds of HD activity and then the computer completely locks up. The backlit multimedia keys above the keyboard remain lit (these normally turn off in sleep or hibernate mode) and all keys and buttons are unresponsive except the power button, which I can hold down for 5 seconds to force a power-off. The laptop shipped with Vista Home Premium, both sleep and hibernate modes worked perfectly with Vista.

I have updated the BIOS to the latest one which HP says is needed as it adds Win 7 support. I have read the other threads on this site a few others talking about making changes to the various power settings, I have tried all of those suggestions and nothing seems to work. Unfortunately, the BIOS on this laptop does not have settings where I can edit the S1 and/or S3 modes but, again, sleep/hibernate worked perfectly under the previous OS. Has anyone seen something similar on another system and managed to fix it?

*SOLVED* See this URL: http://community.logmein.com/logmein...&thread.id=921

A:HP Pavilion DV7, Win 7 Ult 64bit, sleep mode freezes co

I'd suggest sourcing the latest updates for your NIC/audio/video/AV drivers directly from the vendors, and testing what happens when all drivers are updated as much as possible.

Power state transition lockups are almost always caused by incompatibilities with the BIOS or bugs in drivers.

I reinstalled a clean, legal copy of Windows 10 and upon doing so the system works and at some point the system completely freezes, the only thing that is operational is the mouse. No intereaction what so ever, cannot get to "task manager" or use the windows key, etc. WIll only respond to a hard power shutdown. I upgraded the BIOS to ver F.19, and applied the firmware update for the HDD. This did not resolve the problem. When I booted with a Fedora 24 Live boot all seemed to work OK, no lockups or freezing of the system. Sluggish, but this was due to the fact that it was running off a LiveDVD. I installed Fedora 24 on the hard drive and experience similar issues as when it was running Windows 10. Although it didn't lock the screen and allow me to at least move the mouse/pointer. It just blanked the screen and will not "wake."  It will let me use for a while when it suddenly will blank, and not respond.I did run all Linux/Fedora updates to all the latest packages as well as the latest kernel. I also switched the BIOS between UEFI, and Legacy mode to see if that would resolve the issue. With no better results. I'm believing this may be an issue with the HDD, or a dislplay issue. I'm preferring to run this with Fedora. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi!

I'm new to the forum and English is my second language, so please excuse me for any misspelling!

First of all, my 2 year old Hp Pavilion dv5-1153eo laptop freezes after 5-10 minutes running (either if it's on a web-page, desktop, or other programs such as msn etc.). The freeze happens instant without any warning, mouse and keyboard becomes useless, and the only thing I can do is to hold down the power-button until it shuts down. I can't hear any different sounds and the led-lights are normal when it freeze. When I force it to shut down and starting it again, it starts for like 2-3 seconds, but then shut itself down. If I wait 10-15 min and then try to start it, it starts up normally, but after 5-10 min it either freezes again or shuts down without warning.

Specs: (since I formatted and don't had the chance to install drivers, the specs are blank, but it's original dv5 specs, which i think are)

- AMD Athlon X2 QL-62 / 2 GHz Dual-Core
- DDR2 SDRAM 4GB
- ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 512 MB
- Seagate Momentus® 7200.4 500GB (the original crashed a year ago)

What I've tried to:

- Start in safety mode (with no help, problem still remained)
- Use just battery and/or just the AC (with no help, problem still remained)
- I've formatted to Vista (the same I used before formatting) (with no help, problem still remained)
- run a hard-drive scan, but it froze at 40% and I could not complete the scan

Sounds like overheating. Use compressed air to blow into ventilation ports to clear it of dust. Canned air may not furnish enough pressure and volume to dislodge dust clogging. Also, check that all fans are running. Some laptops have more than one fan.

I am a former tech-specialist A++ certified and the whole 9 yards - I buy a new laptop every 3-4 years.  HP's used to have a bad rep for the way they were assembled and that they ran hot. Things changed, or so I thought. My ASUS screen died recently and I had to buy something fast.  Was looking for the fasted computer w/the biggest hard-drive for under 600 dollars. Got this computer- did NOT want a tablet w/ a keyboard, swiping creates a dirty screen and I do a lot of work w/photos.  This machine constantly freezes and says - even though it has 300 gigs free - that it is using 100% of the hard drive - I've uninstalled a lot of the crap that comes with it, and even changed to a lesser version of my own antivirus to try to give it more energy. This computer is a piece of crap. I am about to launch a review-a-thon and post reviews whereever I can warning people NOT TO BUY. Oh and I checked with the place I bought it.... four weeks later and they are no longer selling it.  READ REVIEWS BEFORE BUYING!  Don't rely on specs. rely on users who have come before you!

A:BRAND NEW AND FREEZES!! HP Pavilion 15-n211dx Notebook PC

Hello jjoakim,Welcome to the HP Forums!I'm sorry to hear about the frustrating experience. Luckily, with your notebook being so new, it is probably still covered under warranty. If there are hardware issues, your manufacturer's warranty should cover any required servicing. The specs show that you should have received a 750GB hard drive. Can you confirm this? I have included the document 'How To Access Disk Management in Windows 8 & 8.1'. As the drive is most likely partitioned, you will want to use Disk Management to assess the full size.Do you get the error message regarding the hard drive is completely full, while you are working with your photos? The reason that I do ask, is it does sound like an out of control swap file could cause this error. If there is a problem with the hard drive, use this method 'Testing a Hard Disk from the BIOS' to test your hard drive. If for some reason it does come back with a failure, please let me know the exact failure code.I have also included a few standard troubleshooting documents for you to go through, to ensure all the basics have been done.'Computer Locks Up or Freezes in Windows 8''Improving System Performance without Adding Memory (Windows 8)''Windows 8 keeps slows down to 100% disk usage and hangs.'.Looking forward to working with you.

I changed it and the new Wireless Optical mouse works perfectly for a week, than it stops work as the first one. I checked out the drivers and installation, reinstalled it and from then on it works occasionally (freezes for 5 - 7 minutes, than it start working again. If I reboot sometimes helps, sometimes not). Hello. I'm not sure if my issure is to do with software or hardware, so sorry if this post is in the wrong forum.

I have a HP Pavilion dv3 laptop, 13.3", which runs on Windows 7. It has an Intel Core i5 and 4 GB of RAM with 500 GB of memory. It's very new - I only bought it about a month ago, and up until a few hours ago it was running fine. It has been very fast and responsive, and I was careful to not download a load of junk or anything that might slow it down. I used it this morning and it was fine, but since I turned it on this afternoon it has suddenly begun running slowly. When I turn it on I can enter my password and get into my user account, and everything loads fine, but when I try to do anything it will just freeze up and refuse to respond. I can't even right-click and refresh, or click on the taskbar. I just get that little blue spinning circle to infinity.

The laptop is running okay in safe mode, which I am in right now. I'm trying to rack my brains to remember what I could have done to mess it up, but nothing comes to mind. Last night I downloaded AIM, but that didn't seem to have changed anything this morning. When I used the laptop before it started freezing, all I did was watch a few Youtube videos and then turn it off again.

When I realised it was freezing, the first thing I did was to turn it off and restart in safe mode. I went to Control Panel and removed the password to my user account (irrationally, I was getting paranoid... Read more

When i turn my computer it only goes to the Hp Invent screen, and then freezes there. Nothing happens when i press esc for startup menu, the only key combination that had an effect was ctrl-alt-del, which reboots the computer. If i i press esc before the HP screen comes up, it only goes black.

I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but i installed windows 7, and i was encrypting the harddrive with truecrypt, and it was at around 13% when i clicked Defer and rebooted.

I've tried to remove the battery for 15 min because i red on the internet that it could work, it didn't. I also tried removing the RAM and putting it back in, nothing.

I also tried to let it be turned on at the boot screen for several hours, it stays in the freeze.

I'm not a newbie, but i'm not enthusiast either so please try to simplify it for me

Thanks in advance.

HP Pavilian 17-g121wm Product number: N9E13UA#ABA I reinstalled a clean, legal copy of Windows 10 and upon doing so the system works and at some point the system completely freezes, the only thing that is operational is the mouse. No intereaction what so ever, cannot get to "task manager" or use the windows key, etc. WIll only respond to a hard power shutdown. I upgraded the BIOS to ver F.19, and applied the firmware update for the HDD. This did not resolve the problem. Also, the system log in the BIOS seems inaccessible When I booted with a Fedora 24 Live boot all seemed to work OK, no lockups or freezing of the system.

I have tried inserting and browsing files on SD cards using the SD-MS/Pro-MMC-XD slot built into the front of my laptop. After about five minutes, Windows Explorer freezes, and the computer crashes. I have not lost any data yet, but I don't want that to start any time soon. Can you help me with this?

Additional info: When I browse the SD card through an intermediary USB device (i.e. Canon FS200), everything works as expected.

I'm not exactly sure why or what is the culprit, but I want to attempt to figure out what it is before I send my laptop back, so I know what to expect. I've had this freezing problem since I first got it in June. And it only ever does it if I have a couple active browser windows/tabs open and doing stuff online, AND listening to music. I've tried different music players, winamp pro, heard about foobar2000 and still all the same problem.

I'm tech savvy but as far as figuring out what to do next, and what to run tests for I'm clueless. Please help!!!

A:HP Pavilion dv6t-6c00 skips/freezes when using internet and music player

does it freeze or does it freeze and bluescreen?

Do you get any error messages of any sort?

My guess would be to try to uninstall and reinstall the chipset/audio/video drivers to see if there is any confusion.

Hi all.

New to forum so please bare with me if I violate anything. I have an HP Pavilion ze2113us that has a formatted hard drive, new istall of XP, new heatsink and working fan, good battery, charger, tested memory and all the latest drivers. The problem is that after about 8-10 minutes, the mouse and keyboard stop working and I have to do a hard reboot only for it to happen again. It just freezes. Windows update balloon and other things still load in system tray while the mouse and keyboard do not work.

I am a computer tech but this one has me stumped. At first I thought it was over heating because I noticed that the fan did not work, so I replaced it with a working fan and heatsink. I swapped out the memory sticks, still it happens. There are no errors, blue screens, errors in event log or smell or feel of excessive heat on the bottom of case.

I would look at the touchpad and keyboard but initially they work fine. Only after 8-10 minutes do they stop working. Still seems to me like an overheating problem but the laptop should shut down or reboot when that happens. It does not.

I have not tested the hard drive but the symptoms did not warranty that. Looking for opinions and possible solutions. Any ideas would be greatly apprciated. I am at my wits end!

Thank you for your time,

Jerry

A:will a HP Pavilion 15-n034sa motherboard fit into a HP Pavilion 15-n083sa ?

Actually that's a hard question, generally its not possible to install another motherboard, sometimes it is. In this case one is an AMD platform and the other is an Intel platform, there could be tons of differences in mounting holes, physical design, clearance, connectors, heat dissipation requirements, cooling systems, etc. Laptops are not like desktops that use more standardized designs.

So one of my friends is running Vista 64-bit with her DXdiag attached.

I also have attached her Windows 7 (today, a more recent Dxdiag).

Her computer was fine about two months ago and shes had it for 13 months. Then these "freezes/lockups" started randomly throughout the day. She'll be gaming or just browsing the internet with a few AIM/MSN windows opened, random programs will lock up and freeze while others stay perfectly functional. Windows seldom freezes along with the programs, but it does happen occasionally where she can't use task manager and the windows button is forced to freeze for about 2-10minutes. She hasn't had freezes above 13ish minutes because she manually shuts down her computer about that time.

Sometimes when she freezes, she gets past bios and while windows was loading it sent her to a black screen that didn't load anything. She had to keep restarting a couple of times and waiting 10ish minutes and eventually her windows loaded up. She says this doesn't usually happen either.

She wiped about a month ago and it didn't really do anything. At all. She did a clean format/reinstall of windows and these freezes still happen with the same occurrence rate/severity/duration.

I also have the event viewer logs of her system, and programs. They were taken right after the freezes. Not sure if these help, they seem like a bunch of crap to me, but just incase? I can't tell anything for certain from it but it does say there are some errors.

Have no clue as to patterns - genuinely seems random. Previously had IE6 latest service pack loaded and it would freeze on average - 6 times a day - with no *.dmp file even though the Drwatson registry key was installed! Switched to Firefox, and immediate improvement - it now freezes randomly once every 2 days or so - often occurs when zonealarm receive green lights are on, and sometimes when many apps are open at once. A:Internet Explorer Freezes When Started & Firefox Freezes/crashes On Some Websites

Hello and welcome to BleepingComputer. One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan. You have a very severely infected system -- likely because of the lack of antivirus & firewall software. This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and download and execute files.I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.Though the trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information:How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud? When Should I Format, How Should I ReinstallWe can clean this machine but I cannot guarantee it will be 100% secure afterwards. I am running windows XP home edition SP 2, accessing internet via Road Runner. I upgraded Internet Explorer. It froze so I killed it and restarted again. It finished properly the second time, or so it seemed.

IE7 ran OK the first time. The 2ns time it froze on a blank window. No toolbars, no status bar, no nothing, just the frame and blank inside.

Other symptoms: Internet Options opens up OK from the control panel, and every tab seems OK, but when I go connections, LAN settings, the button shows depressed, and the thing freezes.

I can access the WWW without a problem via Firefox. Outlook sends and receives email without a hitch. But any program that checks internet options to see about proxy settings or similar, freezes. Example Intellicast and the Zinio reader. Example the setup program for Max Registry Cleaner and Registry Mechanic.

I ran a virus scan with AVG. The machine was clean. I cleaned up the registry with RegistryFix. There were a lot of lose ends, now it is clean. I ran AVG Anti Spyware. It has a residue of 45 tracking cookies, nothing else. I uninstalled Intellicast and the Zinio reader. Nothing made a difference.

Here is the log from Hijack This. I will be most thankful for your help in figuring out this one.

Operating system: Windows XP pro (sp2 ?)
2 physical hard drives, each with 2 or 3 partitions.
C: 1st partition, mainly used for program files, although some important data is also located on that partition
Mallware/virus attack included the following:
- Multiple advert windows opening up.
- Various warnings (about 17 infections) from AVG Free: Quarantined most, remainder needed restart. Unfortunately I did not take note of the specific virus id's.
- Windows security warnings popped up, although these got very confusing, as malware/virus was impersonating the Windows alerts, and produced a duplicate security shield in the taskbar.
One warning indicating AVG as unauthorised virus software with option to remove! I did ignore that one!
- Mallware/virus installed some (rogue?) malware/virus software on the infected PC
- I tried to perform root scan with unhackme but machine froze (1st time)
- On restart warning window pops up: Google update not accessible? On both options (debug or close) machine froze.
When totally ignoring the Google warning box, Windows does appear to finish loading, however when going to my computer, the windows warning appears to the effect that on proceeding I will be accessing the system files. On proceeding all files and folders (including data & program files) appear to be system files, and the machine freezes.

I've an Asus f5sl laptop with Vista Home Premium (32bit) but it's been freezing on me lately.

When I boot up, it gets to the black screen with the green bar but after a few seconds, the green bar freezes and I can't log in. Occasionally it boots up after around half an hour but then Vista periodically freezes for a few seconds before resuming (which is annoying when trying to write out something etc)
I don't see any problems in Safe Mode so is possibly a driver? I've updated all my drivers, completely updated using WIndows Update, ran antispyware, used System Restore etc

Only problem is; I've moved to a new country, and like a fool, I left my Vista start up disk back home. Which I would otherwise have tried.

Thanks

This problem has been persisting for a few weeks. I did a fresh re-install of windows 8 (genuine) and it is still happening so I thought I would ask for help. When I first turn my desktop on everyday within 5 minutes of starting up it freezes, no mouse or keyboard response (sometimes before I even have a chance to login). I have tried unplugging and plugging them back in to no avail. If there is anything animated (like a game) on my screen at the time of the freeze it will also be frozen. I have also tried waiting to see if it will unfreeze, even after 1 hour there is no change. Fans are still spinning and all lights (in tower and on headset/keyboard/mouse) are operational. So after the initial freeze I restart the computer and every single time within 5 minutes of starting up again the mouse will freeze. But only the mouse (keyboard and programs on screen are still operational). This is easily fixed by unplugging it and plugging it back in. Then the computer is good to go for the rest of the day. At first I thought it was a problem with my mouse (Steel Series Sensei Raw) so I swapped it out (Logitech G600) and uninstall the Steel Series software with Revo uninstaller, but even after that the problem persists, and that was before I did a fresh re-install of Win8. My problem: I have been experiencing (situational) freezes while using my PC, these freezes require me to hold down the power button and reboot.

Details: The situations in which my pc freezes is in low or next to no stress situations, this includes; sitting on the desktop, browsing the web, idle mode, messaging people over steam and msn, and many other little things that shouldn't be causing any problems, right?

The situations in which my pc does not freeze is in games (to avoid my pc freezing while typing this I am sitting in the main menu of a game using the Steam web overlay). I can play intensive games at their maximum settings and my PC never freezes, unless it is the game's fault, and that has only happened on one occasion. It does not freeze when in low stress gaming situations either, like in the main menu of a game.

I think it is hardware related, as it happened on both of my completely separate (and individually formated) installs of Windows XP and Windows 7 (I reinstalled Windows 7 once).

This problem has occurred with both out of the box and fully updated drivers for all pieces of hardware, on XP and 7.

All error messages occur before my OS is loaded and just after I have rebooted after a freeze. After 3-4 hard resets, the system asks me to restore the system. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

After downgrading the graphic drivers, the system appeared stable for some days. But now it started again freezing in a different way: rather than increasing the card's fan speed, the graphic card starts flickering. It stops if I disable and re-enable the graphic card, but it starts again after few minutes and the system freezes.

Freezing mechanism: explorer stops responding, but the mouse pointer is still working. After 20-30 seconds mouse freezes as well. It happens randomly in idle state, using google chrome or ... Read more

A:Windows 7 64 bit freezes after few minutes. Explorer hangs and then freezes.

Unless the new hardware you fitted is almost identical to the old, which I doubt, you should do a clean install of Windows. The main reason is the drivers from the old stuff are still around and are messing things up.

EDIT : and welcome to TSG.

I have had this issue for awhile, it comes and goes.

I will be playing a computer game, it can be anything from world of warcraft to counter strike and occasionally the computer will freeze. As far as I can tell it will not respond to keyboard input or mouse movements, I do not hear any sounds when it freezes and the monitor will be frozen on whatever window is active at the time.

The only thing I can do at this point is restart the computer and shut down the computer. Upon doing either while the computer boots up it will freeze at random points (windows icon, log in screen, sometimes while the bios is loading).

Not sure if this makes any sense but if I shut down the computer and unplug the power supply and plug it back in then turn the computer on, it usually boots without freezing. I really doubt its an overheating problem because I do not let the computer cool down between restarts or the unplug/plug thing but I am open to all suggestions.

A:Freezes during games & freezes when I try to restart it (multiple times)

Anyone?

Also I just came back from vacation and now my computer won't start. It freezes at the "starting windows" screen and when I try to repair it freezes as well.

I have random freezes sometimes they are glitchy and rarely BSOD all on bootup or up to about half hour in (which also turns of the mouse). Also youtube doesn't autoplay playlists and all sugestions next to the video are black. This started a few weeks to a month ago, first it seemed just a minor annoyance but it started to become more often the last few days. I've tried some checks but without success.
Also I remember the week before those crashes that twice the screen driver crashed for a second or 2 and then a message popped up about how a monitor driver crash was adjusted, always when I played a certain game that is still in beta so I taught it was the game.

I posted the same problem a few weeks ago in another forum, without success so I try it here. I dont have a restore point from before that and nothing special in the installed drivers list.

Hello a friend of mind brought there laptop over to me as she was having issues with it freezing so i said i'll have a look for her.

Well its pretty bad. The booting up takes longer then expected, and when you log in well its just a nightmare. After the start up programs have loaded you can navigate for around 5 seconds and then the system hangs and locks its self up (not literally). I know all she wants is her photos. So after battling (waiting for the hangs to pass 5-8 mins) i manage to get to the folder with pictures and start a transfer to my usb, which get so far and then im guessing the hang's stop the transfer.

I thought i'd try safe mode and the hangs are even there. The only one which i can seem to do anything with is Cmd, but xcopy doesn't seem to move past the first 5 files when copying.
I have tried Windows Easy Transfer. which pauses and seems to stop.

I have a 17' Samsung 700Z laptop about two years old. Lately, it has been freezing up. I'm not sure if this is a Windows issue or a driver issue or something else. It usually freezes when I am gaming but sometimes freezes when I'm using Firefox as well. Freezes, no mouse movement, audio glitches out and the only fix is to restart it. It will freeze within ten minutes again though.

For the past few weeks, about 1/2 hour after booting my computer up in the morning, whatever program I'm using at the moment will stop responding. If I continue to try to get it to respond, its screen will dim and I get the message "Not responding". The disk activity light goes on 100%. To a certain extent I can still get to other programs that are already running, but I can't open new ones. Usually, if I just sit and wait, after about 30-60 sec everything will be ok again; other times nothing will happen for several minutes after which I'll get a BSOD with the message "Windows was shut down..." and
Collecting data for crash dump ...
Initializing disk for crash dump ...

Because of this, I've been running Process Explorer. When the problem occurs I can switch to it if it's on the second screen of my dual-screen system. When I do so, almost everything seems normal:
CPU 1.5%
System Commit 3.46 GB
Physical Memory 3.0 GB
I/0 2 kB
Network 400 B
Disk 0 kB
The abnormal indication is that the disk shows 0 kB even though the disk activity indicator is on 100% of the time. The list of processes shows Avast (anti-virus program) and System to have overwhelmingly the largest I/O Read Bytes, but this doesn't seem abnormal.

I use the program WhoCrashed to check dump files. Some time ago I used it to cause a deliberate crash to check that dump files were bei... Read more

Computer sticks during boot on cold start. First, hard drive won't get past HP start screen. Then it gets farther with each repeat after pressing button to shut off. Hard Drive light goes off. Three different drives have been cloned into the system. Two were original WD 320 Gb, one a data drive; other was 4 year old Seagate 160Gb SATA.

Power supply has been replaced.

Today the BIOS screen showed on first and second attempts. Then it said it was collecting array. Replaced battery on motherboard.

Occasional freezes during running after finally getting to run state. Cannot get out of freezes without power button. No software escape works as suggested on HP's Vista troubleshooting.

Occasionally it would reboot on freezes. Now it freezes without reboot. The cold start problem has become more obvious the last few days with all the testing and restarts for Windows Updates and drive switches.

Go into Device Manager. Right click on the Teredo devices (that are having problems) and select "Uninstall". If needed, the devices will reinstall on your next reboot (but, in most cases, then don't come back).

You only have SP1 installed. Please do the following:
1. Visit the PC manufacturer's website and update ALL drivers. DO NOT use Windows Update or the "Update drivers" function of Device Manager.
2. Check Device Manager for any unknown/disabled devices - if there are unknown/disabled devices, fix them with the latest drivers from the device manufacturer's website (not the PC Manufacturer)
3. Visit Windows Update and get all updates

Probably Win7 being more recent, has drivers suitable for your motherboard which were not available in XP. Your XP install should run in Safe Mode, enabling you to update all the motherboard drivers for XP, which can be found and downloaded from your motherboard site.

Hi, I've just about had it. I am running a Dell Dimension 2400 with Windows XP SP3. I experienced no major issues until August of 2010. I first became aware of the little game my PC was playing after installing the Shockwave Flash 10 update. Initially, the problem presented as a white screen when attempting to watch Hulu in full screen. A short time after, I began experiencing audio drops while both streaming music via Pandora or while engaged in conversation via the VOIP (non video) side of Skype. I don't recall how, but the full screen/white screen issue disappeared. The problems remaining however have proved more frustrating.

Present day, I still experience the audio problems. For example while talking on Skype to either a landline or cell phone user, I will often (but not always) hear a little pop and the audio will go out. The lone remedy I have found is to close the skype window and fully 'Quit' the program. Upon which, I will promptly hear another pop, signifying that audio functionality has resumed.

While streaming video, whether from Hulu, Netflix (especially) or an embedded YouTube on Facebook, video will play for a few moments or minutes and then will cease, freezing the frame currently showing. For the sites utilizing Flash, the remedy has been 'Disabling' then re-enabling the Shockwave Flash Add-On in Firefox. In effort to determine whether this was a Firefox issue, I installed Google Chrome and then Internet Explorer this w... Read more

When I play games and some minutes into the game my computer starts to slow down and it starts to freeze. Then I try to alt tab or all the shortcuts control alt delete. Doesn't work. I also see tiny little grey lines around my mouse, I can move my mouse but everything else has frozen. I then have to restart my computer. When I restarted my computer there was like little blue lines going down my screen not many only 3 or 4 or something. The blue lines happen when it goes to the loading screen where it says windows is loading and has a blue bar that goes across. It also has a few blue dots near the bar that goes across. When that loading is finished nothing appears on my screen it is just black. Just now I turned off my computer for a while hoping that it was just a heating problem. I turned it back on and it works I just have the buzzing sound.

HP Pavilion g7 right speaker is non-functional. The issue occurred after unit was dropped. I am absolutely certain it is not driver, software or balance settings etc etc etc... Is it possible that the connection was jarred loose somehow? Both channels work through headphones.

Could be the connection, or something broke like the actual speaker, one of the wires, or the circuit board/adapter/plug for the speaker.

You will need to open it up and a look, no other way around that.

I don't know what I did but it's like the FN key is always pressed. When I press the P an * appears, a 4 instead of the U and so on. I'm not sure how to disable that and my computer logged me out so now I can't get in because I can't type in my password.

When requesting help you should always include the make/model (i.e. p6-xxxx) of the computer and/or monitor. This information is necessary for us to review the specifications of them.

My Hp says this, what do I do ,??  Hp Battery alert  The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low. For optimal performance , this battery may need to be replaced   primary < internal > battery ( 601)  please help me me I work from home and no computer is not good lol.. Than you in advance

A:Help,!! Hp pavilion dv6 -6c 11 nr

Hi, The error 'Primary (internal) Battery (601)' does indicate that your notebooks main battery ( not the cmos battery as the error tends to suggest ) is showing signs of wear and you may want to consider replacing it - the 601 error typically occurs when the storage capacity has fallen below 25% of its original value. Further information on this can be found on the following HP document. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443470 This is a warranty item, so if your notebook is still covered, contact HP and arrange to have it replaced - If needed, you can check your warranty status Here. If you live in the US, contact HP Here. If you are in another part of the world, start Here. Regards, DP-K

I am trying to reinstall XP and all of the sites I've visited regarding this (Including HP) say, "From the Windows XP desktop, click Start, All Programs and then HP Tools.
I do not have that on my menu. The only thing regarding HP is the HP Share to web and Hewlett-Packard officejet software.
Where do I find HP PC tools so that I might perform HP PC SYSTEM RECOVERY ?
I've tried doing a SYSTEM RESTORE from the SYSTEM TOOLS menu and it goes through the process and then restarts only to say that it failed. Any advise would be refreshing!

Have a message that says A component of the operating system has expired.  With error code 0xc0000605  and is asking for recovery tools, which I dont have where can I get them????

A:pavilion 23

>  A component of the operating system has expired.  With error code 0xc0000605  ... A did a Google-search on that code.  One posting suggested that the date/time in the computer's "BIOS SETUP" was wrong, and needed to be corrected.Reboot, and enter "BIOS SETUP", and check. Another posting suggested that your computer is running a "Windows 10 Preview" version, rather than the "official" release.  Is that correct?

it looks like another friend dropped off a computer that is completely messed up. its a hp pavilion 6640 or somthing like that. my friend claims it has upgraded memory but i know it came with at least 64mb. it came with win 98 on it, then was upgraded to millenium but dragged ****. i tried putting ubuntu 5.10 and 6.10( whatever the newest discs are) but it didnt work, then it made sense when i found out the specs of the machine. so is there a user friendly linux or a way to crack win 98 se? the box dosent have a "key" sticker on it so no 98 se key.

A:old pavilion

It should run ubuntu. I had a lower spec'd Pavilion with a P2 300 in it that came with 48 megs of ram. I upgraded the ram and had Mandrake 7 running on it fine.

hey, i've had a hp detachable pavilion x2 for a week or so, it came with 8.1 on it and i wasn't going to upgrade to 10 but thought sod it and upgraded earlier and now my mouse touchpad randomly stops working, the mouse pointer disappears and the keybooard stops working, i have to use an on screen keyboard and use the touch screen to get around

it says it is a ELAN touchpad, i've spent over an hour now googling this issue. all signs are pointing to it being a driver issue after a windows 10 upgrade yet i haven't seen an actual fix anywhere. can anyone point me to a link of the driver that i need please before i throw this thing into the street

elan say to contact manufacturer yet HP have nothing on their website unless i have completely missed something obvious. please help

A:HP Pavilion x2

If you go to the linked HP page and enter your product number, you should be able to find the HP drivers for your touchpad: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp/

If there are no Win10 drivers, then you should not have upgraded to Win10, because not every HP machine running Win8.1 is upgradeable to Win10 without problems. You could have checked the compatibility on the HP site prior to the upgrade.
