Hey everybody. Here's the problem, my new computer (about month old) has decided it would be fun to stop working. Not to sound like aknowit all as i certainly ainti just wanted to start by saying its not a hard drive problem (tried in various other comps) and it isnt a grafics card problem (also tried in various comps) apart from thi i know nothing. Last night i was downloading something, think it was service pack 2 for xp actually when my speakers screamed at me in a wierd machine way, like when you have to connectto dial up but a lot more random and now i cant turn it on. The front of the computer flashes red andthe monitor wont turn on (have tried another grafics cardand this didn't help either. All i can tell you is that its a 3ghz 2 gb ram computer, thats as much as i know sorry. Any help would be great. Ive tried all the usual turn it off, make sure things are clean, let it rest etc. but still the smae problem.

Hello Good People,

I am not a techie. My OS is Vista 64. I play World of Warcraft sometimes and my

program Advanced System Optimizer discovered the following threat:

It has made these registry entries:

Hkey_local_machine\software\blizzard entertainment\world of warcraft

Hkey_local_machine\software\blizzard entertainment\world of warcraft\installpath

Hkey_local_machine\software\blizzard entertainment\world of warcraft\gamepath
Although Advanced System Optimizer finds this and seems to be able to clean it temporarily, as soon as I activate the Blizzard Game Launcher it comes right back.

I have downloaded at least 4 different “cleaners” all of which failed to even detect the threat. So far, Advanced System Optimizer is the only one that even detects it.

I have searched for hours online and there is very little information known about this particular threat named as: although there are many other password stealer trojans associated with WoW, just not a lot of info about this particular one. It is obviously hanging out in the registry and is triggered when I activate the game launcher.
Wiping my computer would cause so much misery, I can't even begin to elaborate. It appears that, otherwise, my system is healthy. Once I've cleaned this with ASO there are no obvious signs that the computer is suffering from malware.
I tried an experiment. I opened the game launcher but didn't enter the game. I then ran ASO on the regi... Read more

i just fitted a new graphics card(ati radeon 9800xt 256mb agp) & was trying to download some game demos from, & i can download the games with no problems, but when i try to install them i recieve error messages. the errors are:550 cant change directory to to /pub/pc/games/pcgameworld/demos/riddick_demo_gsi.exe, c:documents and settings\neildougal\localsettings\temp\ the archive is either in unknown format or damaged. cannot execute "c\docum~1\neildo~1\temp\rar$ex05.850\battlefield_2_demo.exe", error reading setup initialization file, the ntvdm has encountered an illegal instruction cs:06f0 ip:0267 op:63 74 69 6f 6e choose close to terminate the application. does anyone know what these mean?? i can install some games. id say out of 20 demos i tried to install, 10 recieved these various error messages.. the games that recieve these are: te elder scrolls VI: oblivion, swat 4, cell factor, age of empires III, battlefield2, chronicles of riddick, quake4, doom3, & unreal tournament 2004. anyone know where else i can get these demos? any help is appreciated. thanks

A:Game Problems - PleaseHelp

Well, as for a personal statement.. I would stay away from demos.
With so many demos all trying to install their own drivers and what not, there is bound to be a conflict.

Plus all those demos leave files behind after a removal...

I see your in scotland, any difference as far as format over there?
Like PAL and NTSC formats?.... Maybe these are "american" demos and won't work on a "euro" spec PC...
????? Don't know but just a guess.

Could just be corrupt/bad downloads too.

Hi Welcome to TSG!!

You have two anti-virus programs running, McAfee & AVG, which will cause trouble. Uninstall one of them.
The P2P programs you have installed expose you to risks because of the nature of the P2P file sharing process. File sharing/P2P programs rely on members giving and gaining unrestricted access to computers across the P2P network. This practice can make you vulnerable to data and identity theft. It also exposes you to very malicious worms and trojans. You change those risky default settings to a safer configuration but the act of downloading files from an anonymous source greatly increases your exposure to infection.

I suggest you go to add/remove programs and remove all P2P programs!
Go to Add/Remove Programs and remove these if you did not install them.

my pc is behaving weird

there are different type of error which are as folllows

2.'retry or switch to' error

3. anti virus not working

4. disk drives opening in new window

5.window registry editing has been disabled by administrator

it all started when my friend attached her pen-drive on this p-c

after my pc started behaving weird, i installed vipre anti-virus and anti spy-ware

it showed that there were two viruses of worms i.e autorun.inf and win32 worm
after that, vipre started showing two errors which were {RUN TIME ERROR, R6002, FLOATING SUPPORT

NOT LOADED' and 'retry or switch to}

i removed vipre and took some help from various topics available on internet

one of them suggested to use hit-man pro

after using hitman pro....task manager also stopped working

i tried everything possible to to make it work again

at last i reinstalled windows

now task manager is working, but all other problems are still there

i also used reg cure, hack this, and some other software, but none of them really helped

C-Cleaner is also showing 'RUN TIME ERROR, R6002, FLOATING SUPPORT
since this pc is very old, we use it as a medium to store pics and some important software and applications...the pics are very important for me and her

a friend of mine suggested to format the pc

is this the only way out left

I purchased this software at Best Buy so that I could make back-up copies of my DVD collection. On some of the DVD'S, while copying, after beginning the process, I get an error message that says that the DVD has encripted data. I get kicked out of the program, and therefore cannot make a backup of that DVD. Is there away aound this, or is there a way to update my software? I did not notice a way to update the software from within the program. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks in advance for helping.
Problem>When double clicking on IE, Word, or AIM in order to open any of them, they would open and immediately close. Also the 'Ctrl+Alt+Del' window immediately closes when I press the key combo.
What I did>I ran Spybot S&D(did nothing), I ran Symantec Corporate AntiVirus 8.1 - detected 3 files of a Trojan Dropper virus which I subsequently deleted. Problems persisted, so I re-installed Office and Word works. Downloaded Netscape, and netscape works along with the instant messanging that comes with netscape.
Whats still wrong>IE, AIM, and 'Ctrl+Alt+Del' still are not functioning. Symantec does not detect anything.

Here is the HJT log (Sorry its long but i cant close programs since no access to 'ctrl+alt+del')

Hi I have a Sony Vaio Laptop Model# VGN-SZ433N
I recently started experiencing a very high pitch noise coming from the speaker. I don't think it has something to do with the fan or hard-drive because the noise goes away as soon as I muted my speakers. Prior to that I had some problem with the built in microphone. The computer is fairly new and I haven't had any significant problem with it. Please help me out. Thank you guys.

Hello guys!
Please help me with this problem.
It was a desktop computer in my office.
While roaming around the BIOS (AWARD), i suddenly uncheked the shared video memory. The system had 128 MBs of RAM. Then booted. ALAS! there was nothing on the screen and instead, i heard one long and two short beeps. I went through the documentation to find out that it was in-built video that went wrong.
What i tried was:
replaced the RAM with 1GB
removed the battery and tried to reset the BIOS
But all in vain.

Please help me with this problem. I have not installed and tried with any external display card. Is there any other way i can get my video back?
Will flashing the BIOS help? I'm scared though.

Thanks in advance.
