Hi and Welcome to TSF

If you are using Msconfig's selective startup...please uncheck it as I need to see everything running.

Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run the following tools. Download and update the databases on each program before running. Ad-Aware? SE Personal Edition
*Note* For Ad-AwareSE also install the VX2 Addon Cleaner To run this tool once Adaware is updated click on Add-ons in the lefthand column. Select VX2 Cleaner V2.0 and click Run Tool. Click "OK" , then, if something is found, click "Clean" as in the directions given. Click "Close", and exit Ad-Aware.
Spybot Search & Destroy
CWShredder

Also make sure you are using the the latest version (1.99.1) of HijackThis and it's installed in it's own folder on the root drive. (C:\HJT)

Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan
** click on "Free use ActiveScan" located on the top right hand corner Click Scan your PC & a 'pop up' window shall appear. *ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it
Click Scan Now
Enter your e-mail address & click Scan Now ...begins downloading 8 MB Panda's ActiveX controls
Begin the scan by selecting My Computer If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report.
Click on see report. Then click Save report
Please post that log in your next reply.

I use a program called Juice to download Podcasts and today when I went to open it I got the message Error Occured See the Log File Crogram Files\Juice\Juiceexe.log

I'm guessing that it is a hidden file because when I went to Crogram Files\Juice there was no exe.log

How do I get to that file?

I just wanted to add that I figured out how to see the hidden files but that exe.log still doesn't show.

Thanks!

I started receiving an error message box that states "This application failed to start because netfxy.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." when attempting to open anything. In the blue bar top area of the error message it states "rundll32exe(or whatever i'm trying to open) - Unable To Locate Component." Now if I click OK on that box, most of the time the application will open successfuly. But when I restart the computer I may receive a total of 15 error messages before the desktop even loads. It seems that the computer is looking for this netfxy.dll file(which I guess doesn't exist) every single time it tries to run something. Help!

I get "Microsoft Works has encountered a problem and needs to shut down" everytime I open MS Works 9.0. Also, when I select custom size for an envelope and print one envelope the size reverts back to a standard opening size. How can I keep custom size for several envelopes?

If you have the discs, try uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling the entire Microsoft Works package.

I don't have a specific suggestion for the envelope issue...sorry.

This has started happening the last couple weeks. When I click on my email I get this:
Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server: Cannot connect to the mail server!', Port: 5100, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90
Now this doesn't always happen, sometimes it connects, and opens right up. Then I can send, recieve and log off. Then maybe a couple hours later I click on and get this same message, I 'X' the message off and click on the send recieve button. Then I either get the same error message, or it may decide to open up, and then I get my mail. Or I may get the error 3 times before I finally get thru. This just started 2 weeks ago, and being this fickle is starting to annoy me. It's a two year old HP with 2 G of RAM and Vista. I can still go to Google online and go right to my email with no problem. Anybody else getting this?

Hi! our Gateway desktop computer running on Windows Vista started to show the following error message whenever we try to left doubble-click to open any folder:

"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations Control Panel".

The only way we can open folders is to right click and choose "open". We've already checked our mouse and folder options settings and verified them to be correct.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hello,

I'm trying to setup an email for a coworker and we're having trouble. Sending and receiving seem to work OK but then when we try to open emails by double-clicking on them, we get an error message along the lines of "Can't open the email. Contents can't be accessed. Need to open email online." (this isn't verbatim; I don't have the error message in front of me at the moment).

He's using Outlook 2002. The mail service is with Telus (Calgary, Alberta). The incoming mail server is imap.telus.net (I read somewhere that IMAP mail servers can have problems like this).

Logging onto the server online can be done, and works, but he'd much rather use Outlook as the online webmail is a "pain in the ***" (his words).

Can anybody help please?

A:error message when opening emails

Hi gib88,

From within Outlook click on the Tools menu > choose Send/Receive > Send/Receive Settings, and then Define Send/Receive Groups.
Choose the Edit button.
Click on your IMAP account in the left pane, and then under the Receive Mail Items section choose “Download complete items including attachments”.
You can alternately choose - Use custom behavior defined below - and choose only your Inbox - or the exact folders you want to download the full items to.

If you have a large amount of items in your Inbox - you may want to create sub folders - and customize Outlook to download specific folders.
That may save you from getting file corruption - and / or making Outlook slow to open.

Hope that works for you.

After lots of problem I have just had my Windows7 professionally reinstalled and am now in the process of installing my software. The Microsoft Office software is Ms Office with Frontpage. My list of programs confirms that this is the installed program and Frontpage can indeed be opened. When I try to open Excel, Word, Powerpoint etc I get a message that says"the feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'MS Office XP Professional with FrontPage' disk and click OK". When I do this nothing happens. I then click "Cancel" and Excel opens OK. It is not much more than a nuisance but how can I get rid of these error message?

Hi. I'm getting a strange error message when I try to download programs off the Net. I usually save the programs to my hard drive first, so that I can scan them with my anti-virus program before I install them.

But tonight when I was trying to download Azureus, this is the error message I got:

"C:\Documents and Settings\Michelle\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\UHW7Y9SI\jre-1_5_0_04-windows-i586-p.exe[1].torrent --- Invalid menu handle."

Does anyone know what this means? I'd really appreciate any help!

Not sure if this is the correct forum or not, but when I try to open some .jpeg files, I sometimes (key word "sometimes") get the following error message:

"Microsoft Internet Explorer
Root.html,_Route Call(): Routing liquid not found."

I have to click on the "OK" approx. 10 consecutive times before the error message goes away and then seems nothing is affected. Strange thing is that I can try to re-open the same file and it may open or I may get the same error message again. I'm using an older program to view photos and pics (MGI Photosuite III) but I like it, it's easy and has everything I need. It seems the error message doesn't affect anything but it really a nuisance. Thanks for any help or suggestions

A:error message when opening a program

here your profile is limited on the normal user privileges.. meaning u cannot install softwares that adds new values to the registry. u need the administrator to add ur account under the security tab of each of the files, regedit.exe and regedt32.exe .. otherwize, see if u can get the local administrator password, login and install the program ..

or maybe a policy, .. start > run > type gpedit.msc and press enter.
expand User Configuration > Administrative Templates >System .. u'll find "Disable registry editing tools" .. if it's enabled, then it's active. u can change it to disabled.

Hi, I am running Windows XP Home Edition V2002 SP3 on an ASUS Eee PC.

When I go into Windows Explorer I get a message "A program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for internet explorer. Internet Explorer has reset this setting to your original search provider Google (www.google.com). Internet Explorer will now open search settings where you can change this setting or install more search providers".

Search settings screen opens, and confirms Google as the default search provider so I don't change anything here, just take the clause open and it continues into Explorer login. However EVERY time I go into Explorer I get the above sequence of messages/actions, so the re-setting is not taking effect permanently.

Can anyone advise how to overcome this please?

Thanks

Hi,
I was having problems with my software and eventually decided the best thing was to download a fresh copy of Windows XP. It seemed to be playing up while I was installing because it would just keep repeating the same questions and not get to the actual installation. I closed down and once I rebooted, I received this message:
File/i386/biosinfo.inf could not be found. The error code is 18. Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit.
I did that and had to reboot again. This time I got a message saying:

What can I do to correct this problem?

Hi Guys,

Moved the thread from Networking as I got no answers... perhaps this will yield better results! This pop-up window (Thread Title) started to appear when pressing the button 'New FAX'. Second line goes on to say: Specified procedure could not be found.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to even start to look at where or why this problem is suddenly occurring? This seems to have started after a critical update but I can't be certain. I couldn't roll back to an earlier restore point as it only saves the last two or three (on every boot-up?) so there wasn't one earlier enough to try.

Thanks.

ok window xp, all windows updates are up to date. After I installed the latest Root Certificates Update my computer started giving me error messages. The file completely installed and downloaded. Talking about missing .dll files and my programs in taskbar would give me an error message as they loaded up on start up. I have a red shield in the bottom taskbar saying it doesn't recognize my avg and zone alarm firewall, when it is indeed up and running. Hi Guys,

This pop-up window started to appear when pressing the button 'New FAX'.

Thanks.

Sandy

A:Opening A Downloaded Program Get A Error Message

Hello and to BC

First and foremost about this, have you scanned your computer for Any sort of malware before / after doing this download as it may be infected, Just a thought

Secondly, what type of program are you trying to download, if its a simple program such as an AV , or a free game or something like that, from a trusted site, it should not be giving you an error such as that

if its an older exe file maybe it just won't work with your xp, Just a couple of thoughts to toss out there
Hope to hear from you soon

Ever since I have been working with Windows 8 I have received error messages stating "There was a problem sending the command to the program". It will be a document that I have created in word or excel on the exact same computer. I click on the folder in my library, find my document, double click on it, word or excel appears to start to open as a box displaying one or the other appears and then the error message appears. I click on "OK" in the error message and see the word or excel icon in my lower tray - click on that and there is my document. Not a huge deal but definitely not the way things should work....help?

A:Error message when opening own created documents

Maybe running sfc & dism would help.

I run them from a batch file to save time.

sfc /scannow
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow
pause

Save as repair.bat using all files or it will end up with a .txt extention.
Or just run them alone in an Administrator Command Prompt.
Right click your .bat file & choose Run as administrator if you make one.

Does anybody know cause/cure for an error message I get whenever I open a previously stored Excel 97 worksheet:

"A document with the name 'XXXX.xls' is already open. You cannot open two documents with the same name, even if the documents are in different folders.
To open the second document, either close the document that's currently open, or rename one of the documents."

There is never a second occurrence of the worksheet open -- at least, not that I can find.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I am running windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Whenever I try open outlook or anything in office 2003 I receive the following error message: please wait while windows configures microsoft office single image 2003.

The above error message is an identical message sent to this Forum by "drumstik59" but was for Office 2010 instead of Office 2003.

This was solved by the reply given by "Irene" which is :-

"..paste the following commands one at a time and press ENTER.

reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0 \Word\Options /vNoReReg/tREG_DWORD/d 1

reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0 \Excel\Options /vNoReReg/tREG_DWORD/d 1

reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0 \Access\Options /vNoReReg/tREG_DWORD/d 1 "

As I have the same error message with MS Office 2003 but have "\11.0\" in the script instead of "\14.0\" would this solution also apply to Office 2003 ?

A:Receiving error message when opening office 2003

Well, version 11.0 applies to Microsoft Office 2003, so it's certainly worth a try.

How to check the version of Office 2003 products

If you decide to import the modified script into the registry, please make sure you backup the complete registry first and a system restore point wouldn't go amiss either, in case you get problems.

I'm trying to set up a second email profile on a PC which already has a profile set up. The new profile needs to be password protected, ie. anyone who logs on to the PC using the default profile should not have access to the second mail profile without an additional password (if that makes sense).
Both profiles use exchange accounts. I've selected the 'Prompt for a profile to be used' option. However when I select the second profile I get the following error message:

Unable to open your default e-mail folders. You do not have permission to log on.

I'm assuming that this is because it is trying to use the Windows logon username and password to access the second profile. Is there any way to get Outlook to prompt for a password when accessing the new mail profile?

My kids insist on having it though). http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/msnmsgr.exe.htmlYou know what bugs me the most about error messages? There's no way to copy and past the stupid things into a search engine. Hi

I went through the installation wizard for this software and it seemed to install correctly.

The icon for PE3.0 now appears on my desk top however when I double click on it I receive the following message:

I check the 'details' of this error message and it says:

Does anyone know what I have done wrong? If I need to uninstall and reinstall the software - how do I go about doing this?

When I attempt to open an Excel file using Excel 2003, the following error message occurs:

"this file is not in a recognizable format" etc...

Why does this occur, and how can I open the file successfully?

A:Solved: Excel 2003 - error message when opening file

Check the file extension. Am sure it has an extension ".xlsx" which means that the file was created using microsoft office 2007 excel or higher. This is why your computer does not recognize the extension of the file. the 2003 version of excel can only open files with the extension ".xls". The solution to this is to get microsoft office 2007 or higher version and install it or got the following link and download Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack and install it. it will enable you to open the file without having to install the office 2007 which may not be fit for your machine specifications.

Hi,

I have been suffering "memory could not be written" error messages for weeks now. It occurs when I close almost any of my applications, and when online games change maps. At first I thought it was primarily mozilla stuff (FF, TB, NS) so I removed them, but no change. I've ran current NAV, ad-aware, Ccleaner, defrag, and disk cleanup -- but no change . I ran the microsoft memtest thing, found no problems. It doesn't crash programs, just pops up when I am closing them anyway, except for the halting online game play. I can't find any ryme or reason to point to any specific program.

I have searched extensively online, but only similar issues I could find pointed to problems with programs I don't have or use. I have XP with all the usually updates, etc.

Any ideas anyone, please?

Thanks,

Vespid

Hello,

As mentioned in the title, I've recently encountered problems while opening the folder in which I download files to. What's different from what I've experienced in the past, is that this error doesn't pop up for any other drive/folder but this specific part of the directory. So I'm wondering is it possible to cut the files to a new folder and delete/avoid this folder? Or are my problems greater than something as simple as this?

Background info:
While attempting to upgrade the expansion for WoW: Burning Crusade, I wasn't able to more or less for the fact that my original drive that came with the computer (dell 2001) is starting to fall apart. ie. corrupt file packets I believe it was. This folder is in the same hard drive, so it just possible that the hard drive is going to randomly do this until it completely malfunctions? Or have I downloaded malware of some sort that was never detected? I've run ad-aware, S&D, Anti-Trojan, Symantec AV multiples times making sure to do updates before each scan, but nothing has come up.

If you could please give me some ideas as to how to fix this problem, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I posted this previously with very little response, so I am trying it again.

Whenever I close a program or Internet Explorer, I keep getting variations on this error message -

"The instruction at "0x0342f2c0" referenced memory at "0x00000ba0". The memory could not be read."

My XP is fully up to date and all the service packs are installed.

Can someone please tell me how to remedy this problem?

By the way, whenever I Google that error message, I am lead to a website that wants to sell me a program called ErrorSmart, or some other diagnostic type of software. I have no problem buying one of these if they really can correct this problem.

I would really appreciate any guidance on this from someone that has experienced this problem and knows how to correct it.

Hello.
I have a HP 6835 PC, I've updated the unit by installing a larger hard drive, increasing the RAM memory to 512 and installed Windows XP Home. also drivers for a Canon printer and driver for a wireless network card. Everything works as expected, until I go through the shut down sequence for the PC. The system terminates normally but will not turn off the PC or the monitor, I get the following; "Hardware Malfunction" NMI: Parity check/ Memory Parity error. This is presented on a blue screen and I have to press the power button to turn off the PC. I have tried to remove the RAM chip on at a time and restart the PC with the same results, I have also tried different chips with the same end results.
Any ideas on how to correct this headache?

I keep getting an error message that says my computer is running low on virtual memory and that windows is doing something with the page file (you can see I am a nongeekette). Then it crashes and complete garbles the page. I have done a disk defrag but that did not help. What is the next step? I am running 2000. Thanks.

A:I need help with low virtual memory error message

First thing to suspect is how full your hard drive is. If it's crammed full, particularly your C: partition, it doesn't give your swap file (Page file) much room to breathe. The page file (swap file) is where the stuff held in virtual memory is stored. Windoze uses that, when the physical memory is used up.

The next obvious thing to do, is go to Help and type "virtual memory". That'll tell you how to get to the settings of it.

In there, I would think that "Let Windows handle this stuff" would be your best bet.

Let us know how you get on, ay?

Just received the below error message when starting my VMware Player Windows 10 TP Virtual machine after updating my Windows 8.1 host system (October 14 Windows Update).

I fixed the error by uninstalling optional update KB2995388

Edit: My host machine has 16 GB of Ram with 4 GB allocated to the Virtual Machine.

A:Not enough Physical Memory... Error message

Yes that's the culprit.

I had the same errors, I started the VM just after the update and so it was a lucky guess that KB 2995388 was at fault.

Fixing a memory leak was one of the main objectives of the update according to the MS literature.

I wanted to upgrade my memory capacity on a Dell Precision 410 / Windows 2000 / Dual Processors / SCSI Hardrive. But an error message suddenly appeared. Can someone explain what this message mean? ""One or more memory DIMM are out of rev. PRess F1 to configure or Press F2 to continue."

I installed a pair 256 MB of RAM PC100 DIMM into a Dell Precision 410, which already has a pair of 128 MB RAM DIMMS. When the PCs boots to POST, the error message that I stated ealier dsplays.

When I pressed F1 to configure the memory, the amount of memory shown is correct. When I F2 to boot, the OS started without a problem. When I removed the newly installed RAM from the system and rebooted, the error message went away.

What exactly is the message is saying? It is so vague. I figured so far, that the new RAM that I installed is somehow not quite compatible or defective. Can someone explain this to me?

arffcamate it doesn't help much when the event logs are in French (I think) and onething I do notice is you have two different graphics cards in the dxdiagreadout and in your system specs there is only the GeForce 550 Ti listed ??

So how many cards have you onboard? because it would appear to even me and I am not a graphics expert but surely the two would be at odds with each other. That is unless you are driving two monitors at the same time. Which also prompts me to ask why is the monitor resolution so low??

Hi guys, I hope you can help. So a couple months back, my system automatically downloaded Windows 10. I was on "7" and I just closed out of the option to upgrade thinking it wouldn't update, but when I was at work, I came back and had Win 10.

About 1-2 weeks ago, my computer said there was an update for Windows 10...but each time it would just have the white dots circling and even after 12 hours would still be doing the same thing. Microsoft suggested turning off internet and rebooting....I did that and then it said 'attempting to repair'... I did this twice, and then turned off auto-update.

I don't know if it's related but yesterday I was just browsing the internet and a blue screen appeared saying "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you. If you'd like to know more, you can search online later for this error MEMORY_MANAGEMENT"

Pretty much since then, my computer throughout the entire day keeps making a processing/loading sound as if it was opening a program. When I look into Task Manager, I ran a deep scan of Norton and it didn't find anything. I'm not sure what to do now?

A:Error Message:Dumping Physical Memory!

Hi Khope,

Seems like a bad hard-drive or a hard-drive in it's failing state. First, if you are confident enough to open your computer up, take out the hard-drive and hook it up to a working computer so you can backup the files on that hard-drive. Hopefully the hard-drive is still accessible.

One thing you can is, if you can get to a working computer, download "powermax". Powermax is a program that test if an hdd is failing or not. Put the program onto a CD and bootup your dimension 4700 to the CD.

Follow the on-screen instructions and test the hdd for any errors. Make sure to run the "advanced" option. Good luck!!

From the past 2 days I am getting this wierd popup with title 'dllhost.exe - Application error' and the message 'The instruction at 0x773d4775 referenced memory at 0x564f48ec. The memory could not be written. Click OK to terminate. Click Cancel to Debug. '

I don't see any program getting affected, but the popup is annoying and I am worried this is an OS issue.

The error also comes with 'taskeng.exe'.

The dialog starts showing on the welcome screen even before I login.

In the last 2 days I have not installed any program or changed any settings. The only change I remember are: Windows 7 automatic update happened and my antivirus (avast antivirus v 5.1) got updated. I tried closing the Av program, but the error messages persist.

Please help in identifying and resolving the issue.

Hi,

Looking for some assistance please with the virtual memory settings on my laptop.

I'm continually getting 'low virtual memory' messages which either result in th explorer page shutting down or with applicatons being unable to run (including games).

I've tried adjusting the settings under 'system properties' but when I re-boot and re-check this it always reverts to zero. I'm following the correct procss in hitting 'apply', etc but this problem continues to appear. There is also a 'paging' error where apparently there's a problem with the paging file configuration when i start the computer.

Having searched the internet for a solution and tried a number of ideas including those already suggested on forums within techguy, I'm unfortunately still stuck so any help you can offer would be appreciated.

Cheers

This error just happened after the computer was in idle for a few minutes. I hadn't been playing games or working with graphics.

RAM was gotten from Compucare several months ago. It is 512mb, PC 2700 DDR1.

Only things that are running are Norton AV 2005 and Sygate Personal Firewall Free Edition.

- Note: I originally post this in the Hardware forum thinking that something was wrong with my RAM. However after extensive checking we discovered that my RAM was okay.

Telegramsam suggested I get rid of Sygate and use Windows Firewall instead. He also had me run Spybot, Adaware and CC Cleaner. I wasn't able to update adaware but Spybot did remove several malware.

Instead, after waiting for the program to launch, an error window with the message Insufficient Memory appears, and the program quits. I am having a memory and disk space problem. I get this message all the time now. I have a soyo motherboard, intel 650 cpu, 650 megs of ram, 20 gig hard drive, stv velocity 128 video card with 8 megs of memory, 2 cds, 2 floppies, one zip drive, one HP printer, and a Microtek scanner.

I installed tweak dun to speed up the modem,XTEQ X-SETUP to tweak up windows and Cacheman to manage the memory. In Cacheman I set it to power user, that didn't help so I then set it for video user and that didn't work. IF I open 2 or 3 programs, (netscape, email) I get after a few minutes the message not enough memory or disk space please close some programs. Resourses are at 69% and hold there steady. Could this be a video card problem and if so what is a good video card. I have tried about 3-4 different one and never has the video been right but it never has been like this either. Usually after sitting with no use the modem lights will change to a weird icon but that was about all it ever did until today.

Can anyone help please.

Thank you, Rick [email protected]

Laptop is a Compaq Presario
WinXP Home
2.6GHz
256x1 + 512x1 333 DDR SDRAM
Built in 802.11b/g
80gb hard drive, installed about 4 months ago
DVDRW drive, installed about 4 months ago

On startup, when I get to the "to begin, click your user name" screen, an error message pops up every time.

~~~~~
HPWirelessMgr.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0z76b2398c" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANEL to debug the program
~~~~~

Clicking either on OK or CANCEL does nothing - just makes the error message go away.

What is it telling me and how can I fix it?

Thanks!

I am having problems when I try to forward emails from Outlook Express.
I can do three or four and then I get an error message saying "low memory".
I have a fairly new computer running windows xp home and have hardly any programs on it. Nothing that is eating up all this memory. I have increased the virtural memory and that didn't help.
When I get the error message I have to get out of Outlook and start it up again to even read the rest of my messages.
I have deleted all the cookies and history. Doesn't help.
Any one have any suggestions?
Thanks!!!

I am not sure why the problem is occurring, but when you have a lot to forward why not logon to Hotmail on the web?
