Video display sideways after visiting iwon.com

Q: Video display sideways after visiting iwon.com

My son visited iwon.com and downloaded a game. After that, his display was turned sideways. I had him uninstall the game, go in device manager and remove the display adapter and the monitor and restart to let the system detect. Win 98SE, AVG, AdAware, Spybot S&D all current and have been run. All Windows updates current. Thanks

You are currently running an outdated version of HiJackThis. Please click on the link below to download the most current version:HiJackThis_sfx.exe
Delete your current HiJackThis.exe file
Double-click on the file you just downloaded.
Click on the "Unzip" button to install the newer version.
It will by default install to the directory - C:\Program Files\HiJackThis\
I would require your next HJT log to be from this newer version

Download Ewido Security Suite - Install & Update it's database but do not run it yet.

** Please disable all other antivirus programs before proceeding.**

Run Ewido:Click Scanner
Click Complete System Scan to begin scanning.
Click OK when prompted to clean files
With the first file it prompts to clean, select the option - "Perform action on all infections" - & choose clean and click OK
Once finished, click the Save report button
Save the report to your desktop
Close Ewido
* Ewido scan would require at least an hour. I suggest that you go grab a cup of coffee & do something else while you wait for it to complete.

I have a Dell laptop, Norton, Spysweeper, Windows XP. In the past month, 5 different times, all of a sudden the screen goes sideways. It's like I would have to turn my laptop vertical to read the screen. I then have to restart the computer and when it comes back up, it has the lowest screen resolution. I then have to change it back to 1000+x800+?...

I don't see anything fishy, most of the time this happens when logging back into my instance of XP. Could it be a driver issue by Microsoft?

A:Display is sideways

Go to the Dell website and using your service tag get the latest video driver there

I'm running Windows XP. My dog was sitting on my lap, laid his head on the keyboard and poof, I kid you not, instantly everything turned sideways. I'm not talking when the toolbar annoyingly jumps to the side and you can drag it back, the whole destop, programs, everything is sideways. The only way to read it is either lie on your side or turn your monitor half a turn so you're looking at it head on. I don't know what key he hit, but I sure can't find it to fix it. Does anyone have any idea? Thanks in advance!

Hi!

My co-worker (I swear ) has somehow changed her monitor display to rotate 90 degrees so that everything is sideways. She doesn't know how she made this happen and I can't figure out how to undo it. I tried the settings buttons on the monitor itself, but they don't allow you to rotate the display.

Can anyone advise me as to how to fix this, please?

Thank you!

A:Monitor Display Sideways 90 Degrees

just turn your monitor sideways, however if that is not an option

Try pressing CTRL+ALT+Up Arrow.
Or
Check your adapter properties for screen rotation settings.
Right click the Desktop, click Properties > Advanced tab

The whole display on the monitor has completely rotated a quarter turn and although everything else seems to be ok you really have to turn your head sideways or lie down to read it. Difficult as it is a desktop running XP Home system. Please help!!

lizzie22, Press the Ctrl and Alt keys together then either the up or down or right or left arrow key to rotate the screen. Also check out the threads at the links below.

My Dell laptop always opens with the display sideways. I have learned to hit the key next to escape which allows me to choose extend and that fixes it, but I have to do it every time. I found a post on this forum which said to change the orientation in display preferences from landscape to portrait and I tried that, but then it's permanently turned sideways.

Instructions
First method;
Go to your desktop to change the orientation of the screen with your mouse. Right-click on any blank area of the screen. Place your cursor over "Graphic options," then "Rotation" and then click on "90 degrees."
Second method;
Change the orientation of your screen using your keyboard, if you prefer it to the mouse. Press and hold down the "Ctrl-Alt" and "Left" or "Right" arrow keys. The "Right" arrow key will turn your screen in a clockwise direction and the "Left" will turn it counterclockwise.
Third method;
Turn the screen back to its normal orientation by using the keyboard instead of the mouse. Maneuvering the mouse is tricky in this view because it's hard to control. Hold down "Ctrl-Alt" and the "Up" arrow key to return to a normal view.

all of a sudden the monitor now presents everything sideways. How do I fix this?

A:video now sideways

There should be an option called "rotate" in your display setting. (control panel > display)
If you have a small ati/nvidia icon that run on taskbar, you may set it from there also.

With Mozilla Firefox, I frequent various reputable websites for news and usually it will have a video that I want to watch. Seems like within the past month, video ads that are located on side of the page that I NEVER CLICK ON OR HOVER MY CURSER over, will start playing at the same time. I have to pause my news story to scroll up and or down to find the ad that is playing. Sometime there is not a pause/stop button on those ads.  Would a pop-up blocker work or something else.

A:Visiting website to view news story and video ads also play at same time!

The Adblock Plus Extension should take care of the video ads. To get rid of all ads open Extensions under Tools >  Add-ons > Extensions. Go to adblock options , click the Filter Preferences button and uncheck the "allow some non-intrusive Advertising" box.  Also for Filter preferences make sure Easylist and Adblock Warning Removal list are checked. Click the add filter subscrption button and add the EasyPrivacy List, making sure you check it's box to activate it.

I'm infected with Adware.Iwon.A. I've run it through every local virus scan I have (BitDefender, Nod32), every legit spyware scanner I have (which is um, all of them more or less), and all the online scanners I was able to find. Yet, it persists.

I've gone through removal instructions on various sites, but none of the Iwon files or reg entries seem to exist, so I'm totally stuck. Any ideas?

If you need any more info, please ask. I posted a hijackthis log (along with 2 other logs) on a thread in the hijackthis forum under "I know something is awry," should be near the top, or on the first page. BitDefender is driving me absolutely nuts about blocking Iwon every 2 seconds (literally).

Thanks for any help! Now excuse me while I drown in my madness... ;)

I'm using Opera 7.21, build 3218 as my browser with Iwon.com as my homepage. I'm not sure why, but when I leave that home page, I always ALWAYS get a popup that says "blank page". This is the most frustrating, because after I click on a news article, or even go to a bookmark, the browser will shift to this blank page, which just shows up as a tab on the bottom while leaving my current page showing. If I disable popups, then it goes away. Disable popups, and I also stop from seeing certain links that include popups that I do want to see. This even happens if I'm going from a link on the Iwon homepage, to another Iwon article. I can't find any properties for the blank page, and am at a loss. Does anybody know how to kill this?

A:Opera 7, Iwon, and popups

shostetler, I probably should merge your two threads, because the answer to your question is somewhat evident in the HijackThis logs. But I'll just link to it.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...c=314#entry1441You're getting those popups either because you reinstalled the iWon toolbar and are suffering from the Aornum parasite or we didn't get rid of everything in our previous session. If you want to stay with iWon that's your choice. But you'll have to live with the popups. Before you decide what to do, have a look at this:http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/Aornum.htmlIf something else is going on post another log and let us have another look. Could be that you still have one of the new nasties that hides from HijackThis.

Best you stay away from Iwon. I'll wager you get more than your share of spam. Don't mean to offend you but i used to go to a bunch of those type sites and since i stopped i don't get any spam.

Hey guys,

I could really use some help!

I was able to successfully remove the mentioned viruses but now I'm having some issues with infections that seem to be regenerating themselves, about 20 pop up in Spybot scans and after fixing them the reappear after a restart.

Here is a log, bearing in mind I have just 'fixed' these issues again- I don't know if that will affect the HiJack this result but if so I can scan again when the infections are active.

It was working fine, a circuit tripped and the computer of course lost all power, I booted back up and got this error message when trying to watch live TV:

Recorded TV plays fine, but live TV gives that error. It says to restart Media Center or restart the computer; I've tried both and neither resolved the error. ANY help ASAP would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton!

UPDATE: I tried moving the tuner to another slot and still no success. Uninstall drivers and reinstalled, still nothing. This stinks. :'(

Okay, here's what I want to do. I want to send video output to a Plasma in my family room and also have output to the computer monitor in the adjacent office. I have the option of using either VGA or DVI to either monitor, so I can use a video card that has dual VGA/DVI outputs. Or, I can buy a separate PCI video card. Right now I have an ATI All-in-Wonder 7500.

Am I better off to get a new video card with dual monitor output or have two separate video cards. If the former, what video cards do you recommend? I know I've seen recommendations for the 9600 Pro, which seems to have dropped significantly in price? I'd like to stay with ATI as I've always used that.

[1] The computer has always had this problem; this is not a new issue.

[2] I have tried adjusting the Display settings provide by XP with no measurable improvement.

[3] Sound is not affected and has good quality.

[4] When MS-Media Player is used and is minimized to the task bar (mini screen presentation) the Video Display quality improves, but is not acceptable.

[5] Only about half of Video Movie can be viewed. Image freezes and play button is enabled. When play is clicked, the Video Movie restarts from the beginning.

Does anyone have a suggestion, I am out of ideas.

A:Video Display has slow update and loses frames on both DVDs and Video Movie downloade

Wow, it just might be the ancient processor you have and the very small amount of Ram you have. Video really eats up resources and I think you dont have the power to run it without problems, The key here is that when you minimize your preview window in Media Player, you have less problems.

So basically i did bunch of dual display setups before but using two video cards or using one video card with two outputs but this is the FIRST TIME im trying with a built in intergrated card and a PCI card.

Heres the issue.

I hooked up the PCI video card and when i plugg both monitors in, the intergrated video card gives a yellow exclamation point in the device manager and nothing shows up on the monitor. Only the PCI video card shows signal..

I tried un-installing both cards, redoing it from ground up, tried disabling and renabling both cards but only one monitor shows up and that is the PCI card.
What do you guys think?

Thanks

Check that the on-board video is enabled in the Bios.

It's possible you can't have both working at the same time, should be able to check this if you know what motherboard it is.

Hello,

I have been trying to resolve this problem for over a week now... My issue is that whenever I am working in video editing programs such as Windows Movie Maker or Edius Neo I am unable to see my video playback in the display window. I can hear the audio but my playback window is either white or see through and I can see my desktop behind the playback window. (See attached screen shots )

The solutions I have tried so far are- reinstalling a new graphics driver, changing the graphics properties and so far there has been no improvement.

I know there is no problem with the actual video files as they play back perfectly in Windows media player or with VLC player.

Please help!! I am desperate for a solution.

A:Video display: sound no video

Hello Frannygstar

I think you might be missing some codecs especially if the files play properly in VLC player.

Install the K-Lite Codec Pack and see if it helps.

Okay, you were able to point me to the perfect KVM switch...let's see if you can solve THIS weird situation!
I have 2 PCs: Desktop and Laptop. Both Dells, both recent. They're both using 2 monitors (a Dell and a ViewSonic) with the KVM switch.

My desktop PC runs Windows XP Pro and has an NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS graphics card.
Using the NVIDIA control panel I configured the ViewSonic, on the right, in portrait orientation and the Dell (primary monitor) on the left in landscape. Everything's fine on the landscape-oriented Dell. But the mouse cursor on the portrait monitor is oriented 90 degrees counterclockwise and the function of the cursor is oriented 90 degrees clockwise, so that if I want to point at an object I have to put the cursor several cursor widths below the object. This makes the cursor impossible to use.

I have these monitors connected in the same orientation to my laptop using a KVM switch. (Thanks, Tech Support Guy, for the KVM tip--I LOVE my KVM switch!) The laptop also runs Win XP Pro. It has an NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M with a different version of the control panel. When I switch the KVM to my laptop--No problem!

At first I thought maybe I had installed a weird ViewSonic driver or SW on the desktop PC and that was causing the problem. But I did a search 'n' destroy of all ViewSonic and Pivot software (came with the monitor) drivers, registry keys, etc.--no change. I did a search on the web: Another guy has the same EXACT problem, d... Read more

This problem actually started last year, after this board helped me with a spyware infection. One out of every 3 times my computer boots up, the screen comes in rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise. To fix it, I right-click the desktop, go to "graphics options," go to "rotation" (which is, BTW, the only option there, which is kind of suspicious), and click "normal." I didn't really pay this mind because I was in college classes and had bigger problems than a 10-second fix. Also, trojan/virus searches didn't turn up anything. I'm starting to think it's not spyware, but a setting that got fudged after fixing up the spyware infection from last year that's doing this.

Not a real problem, but one I want fixed if the answer is easy.

My computer is Dell Dimension 4700 desktop with Windows XP (w/SP2).

My graphics card is Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family. I know that's weird, but I copied it from a diagnostic tool. The computer's processor is an Intel Pentium 4.

Im using Pencil animation: http://www.pencil-animation.org/index.php?id=Home (I have the recent one)
It has a VERY messed up SWF/Flash export. Instead, I exported it as individual images, then put them into monkeyjam: http://giantscreamingrobotmonkeys.com/monkeyjam/download.html and then used an AVI to SWF converter: http://www.onlyfreewares.com/Audio-Video/Video-Converters/Free-AVI-to-SWF-Converter.php (the best one I could find).

Well anyways, the result came out half sideways, split in two, and no matter what SWF to AVI converter I use, the result is always the same.

My girlfriend just told me that her entire screen is rotated 90?; that everything is from top to bottom instead of left to right - except for the initial boot-up messages. I suggested turning her monitor on its side, but that's obviously not a real solution.

The mouse, however, is working normally.

It seems like this might be some really blatant and mean-spirited virus. Does anyone know what might be causing this, and how to solve it?

This is not a joke, by the way.

Thanks for any help.

A:Everything on the screen is sideways!

Relax. Most video display adapters allow rotation. Why? For tablets and others that want to use Portrait mode for viewing documents; for many who use their laptops on overhead projectors.

Usually you can reset the rotation by right-clicking a blank area of the desktop, Properties, Settings, Advanced. Look for a suitable tab controlling rotatiion and screen orientation.

My screen rotates with the key sequence Ctrl+Alt+Arrow keys.
See if your display adapter has a help file covering the keystrokes it uses.

Okay I've got a pretty odd error here that's stumped me for several months now.

I have a 'DigiPro' WP8060 graphics tablet that I got one year for my birthday. Love(d?) the thing. However, schoolwork and sports got in the way of my creativeness by leaving me with little to no leisure time.. so the tablet got put away for the longest time (about 3-4 months.) Finally, with the dawn of summer; I get it out and plug it in. It detects and installs the tablet fine (I reformatted in the time the tablet was put away) and goes through everything normally only there's one issue:

It seems my tablet's been RE-ORIENTED 90 degrees clockwise..

Here's what I mean..

On the tablet, oriented correctly, if you move the pen upwards, the cursor will actually move to the right. If you move the pen to the right, the cursor will move downwards, etc etc.

So I was like what's up??' .. I uninstalled and reinstalled with the original drivers on the disk I have that came with it. Pop it in, and double click setup on the disc, and then another really odd thing happens: It starts the install for ATI Radeon 9250 graphics adapter? [Yes that is my currently installed graphics card..] So Again, I'm liike what gives? D:.." And starting to be seriously annoyed.

Now finally I go and download the latest drivers from UC-Logic [As DigiPro.com is.. a completely useless website in all of its entirety and WHY it is paid to be hosted every month is a complete g... Read more

Hi all!I had a question due to this post, especially the part below:Haganeme wrote:I carry this laptop in the professional laptop backpack by Lenovo while it travel with it due to its weight, product link as follows: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/4X40E77324/460/32C550C87DBD4287A539A749B9359EA3I always keep an SD card in the slot which happens to be on the left side of this laptop. Because of this, when I place my laptop into the backpack it goes in right side first as its really easy to accidently push to release the SD card if I placed it in left side first. As I have yet to buy a case for my P50, has anyone experienced any issues due to inserting their laptop sideways instead of vertically (i.e., front-or-back-side down)? The reason I am asking is that it seems that with most backpacks the laptop goes in sideways, while with most cases the laptop goes in straight with either the front or back side down.  [I usually put my T40 away with the back side up (in hopes of better cooling with the back/bottom/side vents at the top), but the case came with that laptop, not separately.] I know that backpacks are better on the spine, shoulder, etc, but I am equally concerned about what is better for my laptop. Do you guys find that it makes any difference?  Which way do you prefer?  Rolling bags are pretty much out of the question for me right now. Thank you all very much in advance!

Somehow my Add to favorites button's green arrow is pointing sideways instead of down. This means I no longer have a drop down menu to add or organize, and anything I want to save in Favorites is going sideways across the screen just underneath my toolbar.

How can I get this button's arrow to point down?

Thank y'all so much!

I friend just phoned from work and has an odd problem I have never seen or heard of before. Everything on the desktop, or everything you open is sideways. Apparently something had been sent on the keyboard and when they came back everything on the display was sideways.

I had him check in the display properties, and all resolution settings have the lower number first and the higher number second rather than what is normal which is the higher number first ie 1024x768 etc.

Can't imagine how this happened or how to correct the problems.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I need some help--I believe my son 12 year old son is visiting inappropriate website while we are at work. At the end of the night I clean out the temporary internet folder to free up space on the computer and last night I was just scan the folder and found all kinds of porn websites!! So I clean it out and when I logged on this evening the sites he normally visits are there but so where other porn sites.

Tell if Im wrong but is it true that every website you visit is recorded in the temp internet folder? and so popups get space there and when those cookies automatically go there is the computer is just left on which is what he is trying to tell me.

So is there another way to find out a list of websites that have been visited.

I really need to get these questions asked.

Thanks

A:Solved: monitor image sideways

You've probably pressed the shortcut key for rotating the monitor.
Try around with Ctrl + ALt + arrow keys.

If that doesn't work right click desktop and go into properties, and there should be graphics property where you can change it. Usually it'll be where your graphics card program/software is.

A:Screen info being displayed sideways - Help!

if this is a laptop.. it could just be the FN key and up and down button or the left and right button.

if that doesnt work.
right click on the desktop.

go to properties.

there should be option there for rotation of monitor.

So here's this odd problem...

I have a Dell Inspiron 1318 and this is actually two problems..

First one that the screen was sideways and i'm assuming 800x600 resolution which barely portrays half of the screen...sideways too.

I fixed the sideways with ctrl + Alt + up directional key

but the resolution is funky still, now this would be easily fixed except when i use the mousepad...

it only goes so far down...and so far to the right.

It stops at like the bottom toolbar [not allowing me to click start]

and stops about halfway in the screen going right, and alot of the stuff i click won't work...like it doesn't even know it's there kinda thing.

Please tell me what i can do to fix this...i already don't have internet on it so if i can't fix this there's no point.

happened to me before , but I can't remember how to get back to normal , plus the

A:Solved: desktop turned sideways

Usually, the way to get it back to normal is to press Ctrl+Alt+Up button (usually associated with video card software).

Just to note: Ctrl+Alt+Down button will flip it upside-down, Ctrl+Alt+Left button will rotate it anti-clockwise, and Ctrl+Alt+Right button will rotate it clockwise.

If it doesn't work, let us know.

I turn it sideways, it boots...i flip it right back up and everything is just A.O.K! Anyone have any other theories as to way this might be happening?

A:screen turned sideways can a virus do this

My suggestion is first up try the most frequent cause of this, a keyboard combination. The commonest one is Ctrl-Alt-Cursor (Arrow) (usually either cursor up or cursor left). If this doesn't help let us know more system details including your Operating System and what video the system has (eg nVidia, ATI/AMD(Radeon)).

Hello wise ones,

I often have guests staying w/ me from around the world that I know little about other than intuition, what is on their profile and written references from other hosts. Through www.couchsurfing.com

I am very concerned letting them use my PC as they may download a virus or install a key logger. (Kapersky is installed and shows up under the guest identity on XP. But I think perhaps they could turn it off and bypass it?)

What would be the best way to allow them computer access?

1. Get an old PC for them to use? (if they are on my router can they access my other PC's personal information? If so how do I limit them from accessing my PC info?)

2. Install a software program like used at a Internet Cafe?

Any other ideas?

Kind Thanks!

I have a smc router, and sometimes i need to change the ip address on my dmz zone to connect to xbox live games (or it takes forever to get into games). anyway, since yesterday i can't get into the devices webpage to change my settings, everytime i try it just keeps the "internet explorer cannot display webpage".
so im wondering if there is another way to change these settings? or why is it saying that? we had a storm yesterday so I figured maybe its down due to that, but i can't imagine it not being fixed as of yet.
thanks in advance.

A:is there a way to get into my router without visiting the webpage?

we had a storm yesterday so I figured maybe its down due to that,Click to expand...

It may have damaged the router
you could try resetting the router - there will be a reset button on the back, this will take it back to factory condition, however, that will mean resetting all the settings, and if it resets and still will not let you log into the router, then you will probably no longer have any internet access, as you can not set this up....

If you have the Setup CD that may have come with the router - you maybe able to access the settings via setup CD.

Hello all,
I am having a problem with all of the browsers on my computer directing to a spam search site when I try to visit certain websites.

I believe the problem started when I installed this software to help me switch audio output very easily:
http://www.sevenforums.com/customization/65079-anyway-use-hotkeys-switch-sound-output.html

I've done the following:
1) Run updated Malware bytes Anti Malware
2) Run TDSS Rootkit Remover Tool by Kaspersky.
3) Run Virus Remover Tool by Kaspersky.
4) Reset my cookies in Chrome.
5) Read the "Before posting a log" on this forum (the sticky post).
6) Updated my notification options as recommended.
I could not run GMER as I'm running Windows 7 64 bit.

I've attached my DDS/Attach/Hijack logs.
