Q: Searches re-directing, GameGuard wont load

It all started last night, Some of my google searches (not all) get re-directed and any game i try to run that uses GameGuard (anti cheat program) wont load. All this happened after i went to download Americas Army 3 from their site last night. Ran all scans (SpyBot, AVG, and AdWare) and nothing showed up. I also noticed, my System Restore is on, but all my Restore points are gone! You guys helped me before....let do it again!

Here's my DDS.txt

One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.

This type of infection allows hackers to remotely control your computer, log keystrokes, steal critical system information, and download and execute files without your knowledge.

If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Please read this: How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud, and CC Fraud?

------------------------------------------------------

Please note that these fixes are not instantaneous. Most infections require more than one round to properly eradicate.

Please stay with me until given the 'all clear' even if symptoms seemingly abate.

Kindly follow my instructions and please do no fixing on your own or running of scanners unless requested by a helper.

------------------------------------------------------

While Spybot's TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware, it can sometimes prevent tools from fixing certain things.
Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean. TeaTimer can be re-activated once your logs are clean.Open Spybot Search & Destroy.
In the Mode menu click "Advanced mode" if not already selected.
Choose "Yes" at the Warning prompt.
Expand the "Tools" menu.
Click "Resident".
Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active." box.
If TeaTimer gives you a warning that changes were made, click the "Allow Change" box when prompted.
In the File menu click "Exit" to exit Spybot Search & Destroy.
------------------------------------------------------

Download ResetTeaTimerand Save it to your Desktop.
Double-click ResetTeaTimer.zip
Double-click ResetTeaTimer.bat and click Run to remove all entries set by TeaTimer.
A DOS window will open and close again, this is normal.
------------------------------------------------------

If for some reason during these fixes you receive prompts from Spybot about whether to Allow or Deny any changes, please Allow them all.

I have had my web searches re-directing to various pages, most of which appear to alternate search eine type pages. I searched the problem and used a malware removal program which made a few detection yet the probem persisted.

I've ran the various scripts and hope i've way them in the correct way below is my DDS.txt and attched is the Attach.zip and GMER report. iwsant sure weather o post the text or attach so went for attach.

when running the GMER it detected rootkit activity so i reran GMER with just sections and C: selected.

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi there I'm having some trouble with Google searches... every time I enter key words into the search box eg: Chicken curry recipe, the results come back however the links are for what seems to be comparison sites like... www.moxiesearch.com, www.bediddle.com.
Which if I click on them thy either completely re-direct the search to something like "Low fat pesto recipe".
The most worrying one is a link that will take the words I've entered and display them like this. chicken+curry+recipe. If I click on this one it brings up a site that asks me to download something, underneath, it has pornographic links. Then when I exit the window it goes to an anti-virus site which I don't think is legitimate. I'm pretty sure that site is what has made my comp gone nuts when searching on google!
I have run several spyware checks and everything seems to come back ok... I have a Hijack log if needed. If anymore info is required I will be more than happy to elaborate where I can.

Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks.

Everytime i search something on Google in Firefox, the search results come up fine, yet when i click a site on the results page, it either doesn't load, or when it does, re-directs me to some random site.

I had this problem on Firefox on my Computer, switched to Google chrome which was fine for a few weeks, then the same exact problem happened again. None of the sites in my Google results would load to the actual site. The weird thing is, i can still excess all the sites in my bookmarks menu without a problem, its just the google search sites that don't load or end up directing me to some random site.

So i switched from my computer to Laptop, which has been fine for weeks, and now again, same problem with Firefox. Nothing loads on Google. Its kind of weird how its happened again on a totally different computer.

I've messed around with the add-ons in Firefox, and it works for a few hours, then goes back to normal, nothing loading on the google results page.

Any help would be massively appreciated as its effecting my browsing experience.

Hi everyone,
I have never been on one of these forums before but I am desperatley trying to find out what is wrong with my computer and how I can fix it.
Not to long ago my web browser started doing weird things. whenever I search for something the google results come up, but when I click on a link it opens up another tab (or window sometimes) and takes me to some random site which doesn't load. Also, there are a number of sites my browser will not load. It just comes up with the error message "server not found". While other cites like facebook and engadget load just fine. I am using the latest firefox and My operating system is windows 7.
Also, I have chrome and Safari installed on my computer. Chrome doesnt seem to load ANY sites, and Safari has the same problem as firefox.
I use McAfee as my virus protection and have scanned my computer but it says nothing is wrong, and now my virus program and windows updates cannot access the internet to update even though I have an internet connection.
Any help would be highly appreciated!

Thank you so so much for your help in advance!
P.S. since I am new here I am not sure where to post, so i am sorry if I posted this in the wrong section!

I got into some pretty nasty malware yesterday and apparently downloaded several malware programs/viruses inadvertently. I just managed to get something called Windows Antivirus Pro removed from my computer, and I thought that the browser hi-jacking I've been experiencing would also cease, but apparently it is being caused by something else. Usually but not always, clicking a Google search result link in both IE and Firefox redirects to a site called clickover.cn/garblednonsense or some similar site. I have run scans with Ad Aware and MalwareBytes that have apparently not detected this. Is this just a "typical" browser hijacker? What should I do to remove it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

BTW -- can this bug also log keystrokes? Just wondering if I should avoid logging into PayPal while I'm dealing with this...

Hi normally my internet works fine, that is I can connect to pages and they load without trouble in both firefox and internet explorer or anything else that uses the internet.

However, I recently downloaded a new game called IRIS online which uses a hack protection called gameguard which apparently acts like a rootkit.

Now whenever I run the game, it will connect to the game but restricts anything else that uses the internet from working. So when the game is running, I can ping sites and still get a response as the internet is still connected, but pages never load in internet explorer or firefox until I reboot the computer.

A reboot fixes it and there is nothing else that is wrong with my connection (afaik) other than that when gameguard runs, nothing else wants to work.

Apparently other people are fine with gameguard and it doesn't affect them at all so I'm looking for some help as to why it stops my internet from working!

If anyone could help I'd greatly appreciate it thanks

Backstory (skip if you need)
I'm fixing someones laptop, It was slow and taking 30 minutes to startup, i did the usually virus scan and restarted, then it was stuck in an auto repair loop. I used a windows 8 Install CD from microscoft. None of the options in it would work, install (key doesnt match) reset (missing partition), image recovery (cant find an image), restore (no restore point), etc.

Used command prompt, did stuff like bootrec, bcdedit, diskpart, and chkdsk. After it ran chkdsk it finally loaded windows. I reset/reinstalled the OS completely. Fixed, restarted, running smooth. Owner said it was working great for a day, then after turning it back on it was in an auto repair loop.

Now
It's stuck in a preair loop, I can't even boot from the 8 CD! Have it configured in the bios, it shows the the blue windows logo then the screen goes black for 3 minutes and a blue screen flashes for 1 second saying "Your PC ran into a problem and need to restart. Collecting some info (0% complete) search online for error: 0x000021a"

The weird thing is, Windows 7 disks boot fine, but it's "not compatible". And if I physically remove the HDD, it will boot into the windows 8 CD. So I put the HDD back in (while still at the command prompt) and it wont take my commands in related to the C: . I get a "System cannot find the drive specified"

I also tried hooking upp the HDD to my PC SATA, it shows in explorer, but just right clicking it crashes explorer.exe. D... Read more

A:Windows wont load, Boot CD wont load, Automatic Repair Loop

UPDATE:

I got a windows 8.1 disk made and it allowed me yo boot from the CD, but it's SLOOOOW, it takes minutes to load reset or w.e (none of them still work), or open the command prompt.

I ran chkdsk /f /r /x but it didnt help. chkdsk /r ends with:
"A disk read error occurredcc0000185
Insufficient disk space to fix the Usn Journal $J data stream."

Before when I ran it, I'm pretty sure it let me restart and booted into windows, not now.

Next I tried bootrec.
/fixmbr - succesful
/fixboot - succesfull
/rebuildBCD - Total identified Windows installations: 0
/scanOS - Total identified Windows installations: 0

Next bcdedit
Nothing worked "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found."

Next sfc /scannow
"There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again."
Then sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=c:\ /OFFWINDIR=d:\Windows
"Windows resources protection didnt find integrity violations"

BCDBoot c:\WindowsFailure when attempting to copy boot files

Next diskpart - but I forgot what I did before that may have worked. All i can remember is I had to select a disk or volume, and do something with it.

Yesturday my vista was working great, and on the screen as i went to shut it down said "updating files do not shut down computer 3/3 100%" but it stayed like that for 4 hours, so i turn it off manualy once i turned it back on the next day it asked me for my password i put it in and as it was loading it was vey slow and would take 5-6 minutes for programs to load up.

Also when i go to click on like my internet it dont work, not even my games work, they try to load then freeze. So i did a scan on it and its still having this problem. After i got frustrated i went to shut it down again and it says "logging off" but stays like that for hours, so i have to manualy turn it off. Now with internet issue, it works in safe mode with connection, but not in my normal screen. WHY IS THIS DOING THIS?

Hello there,

It seems like you did not perform a clean installation of Windows and that's why your system is acting up.

Follow the steps below to install a new copy of Windows:

1. To format your hard disk during Windows 7 installation you will need to start or boot your computer using the Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive. Insert your Windows 7 disc in your CD/DVD drive. Please note: will need to restart or turn on your system with the disc in the drive.
2. After turning on your system with the CD in the drive go ahead and press any key when prompted during your computer post routine and then follow the instructions presented on screen. If you don’t see this go back to step 1 to setup your BIOS to boot from CD or USB flash drive depending on your installation media.
3. On the Install Windows page simply enter your preferences and click next.

4. Accept the Windows license agreement.

5. On the “Which type of installation do you want” page go ahead and choose the “Custom” option.

6. Select Drive options (advanced) on the “Where do you want to install Windows” page.

7. Select the partition that you want to change, choose the formatting option you want to perform and then follow the instructions.
When allocating space choosing the default MB size for your drive is typically the best for most users since you want to take full advantage of all your disk... Read more

Hello,

This is somewhat complicated because I'm working long distance over a phone to try and fix this problem on my friends computer. First noticed that google searches were being redirected (go.google.com) on multiple web browsers (Firefox, Opera, IE). Secondly, webpages seem to be disappearing - meaning after gaining access to them the first time they fail to connect, or stop loading half way through to page, although her internet connection seems fine. We've tried various antivirus and spy removal programs including, avast, ad-aware, spy sweeper, spy bot, and avg without success of removing the problem. Can someone please take a look at this hijackthis log and see if there is anything left to do. Your time is much appreciated.

Hi,

I run Win XP Media Center (svc pack 2) on my Dell Inspiron laptop. Yesterday I did Google search in Firefox, but when I clicked on the search result I was rerouted to some weird search engines. I also had a series of popup windows that I closed out, and a tab opened to PornTube, so I just ended the firefox application.

I ran an Avira scan, found 9 malware items (including brastk.exe, TR/Rootkit.Gen trojan, etc.) and quarantined them. However, after that, I could not get ANY antivirus/anti-spyware website to load (including free-av.com, free.avg.com, lavasoft, etc.) This was NOT a website issue, as each of these sites loaded on my desktop pc, and the internet on my laptop was working b/c other sites (google, hotmail e.g.) would load and I could navigate them.

I also did a spybot search and it found registry changes in HKEY_Local_Machine\software\Microsoft\Security Center\Firewalldisablenotify, ~updatedisablenotify and ~antivirusdisablenotify. My Windows firewall still says its running and Avira active.

I am still unable to get onto any of these sites, and now my antivirus (Avira) and antispyware applications (AdAware SE, Spybot Search & Destroy) won't update. I am up to date on my Windows updates (except for service pack 3). Below is my HJT log file. Thanks,

-Jessica

I dont know if this is posted in the right area but I'm so desperate to get my laptop working its unreal.
First it started off with my laptop crashing, I had totally forgot it needed to do a windows update and turned off my laptop in hopes that it would work properly.
After that my laptop has not been working. The machine turns on and gives me two options. Start windows normally or do a repair. Upon starting windows normally, it loads so far before sending me back to the two options of start windows normally or repair. On the second time I clicked repair. My laptop then goes so far before presenting me with a blue screen that is usually the screen where my accounts are. The cursor still moves but it loads no further even after leaving it an hour. I decided to make a repair disk, hoping that the problem was because of windows. the disk loads, gives me a choice on the keyboard language then does nothing. I honestly have no idea what to do, I want to keep all the files safe on my computer as I havent backed them up and I have worked so hard on the projects. someone please help

A:windows 7 refuses to load and system repair wont load

Do a hardware/software reset with your BIOS:Shut down and turn off the computer.
Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop).
"Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect
cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." (Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English))
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all
power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS
and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.
(If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard,
and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.
Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware

After doing those steps, clear your CMOS by entering the BIOS (see your system manual for steps to enter the BIOS), going to the EXIT screen, and loading setup/optimized defaults.

I'm at my wits end. Hopefully, you guys (or gals) can help... I could not run Panda Activescan because I could not connect to the page. And, as of right this second, I have no way of getting the program "Combofix" on my computer because I cannot connect to that page either. Any help is appreciated.

Edit: I ran Spybot S&D and it returned "Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter.TaskManager" as a problem. I selected "fix problems" and now Ctrl+alt+delete works again. Earlier, I ran avast and it returned I had 4 infections so I deleted them, but the problem has persisted.

Hi, couple of weeks ago I noticed that both my Firefox and IE8 Google searches were redirecting me to somewhere else.I searched for a solution to the issue and followed some fixes on this site and others and I thought everything was working fine after couple of days since I did not have any issues with google searches. Today I downloaded Chrome and used it for a bit and noticed that Google searches were redirecting to Happili site especially if I try to open the search link in a new window or a new tab.I don't see any issues like popups or slow internet connection. I ran Malware bytes, symantec endpoint, ddskiller, combofix, etc but nothig worked.I hope you guys can help and find a solution for this nasty issue.ThanksDDS:.DDS (Ver_2011-08-26.01) - NTFSx86 Internet Explorer: 8.0.6001.18702 BrowserJavaVersion: 1.6.0_18Run by Administrator at 17:24:00 on 2012-03-29Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600.3.1252.1.1033.18.2972.2091 [GMT -7:00].AV: Symantec Endpoint Protection *Disabled/Updated* {FB06448E-52B8-493A-90F3-E43226D3305C}FW: Symantec Endpoint Protection *Enabled* .============== Running Processes ===============.C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe -k DcomLaunchsvchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcsC:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\bin\btwdins.exeC:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\Smc.exesvchost.exesvchost.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files... Hello and Welcome to Bleeping Computer!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE:... Might be a failing Hard drive. Get to your bios and see if there is any diagnostics there to do a hard drive test. On some motherboards its delete on others its F2. If there is no diagnostics on the bios i would make a USB bootable diagnostics and do that.
I just had the same problems and found out the hard way that it was a hard drive.

Our family computer is randomly having trouble connecting to the internet when loading some web pages or web pages wont load. I occasionally have the same problem with my laptop but never at the same time. Which leads me to believe it is not likely my router. Would that be correct? My wife plays alot of games from Yahoo Games. Could that be a source of some of the problems?

I have some of the tools I believe will be needed to clean the system loaded to my desktop ready to go. I need some direction to be sure I don't go out of order and cause a bigger problem.

Thank you

When I start up my pc, I get a screen that says, "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully, a recent hardware or software change may have caused this, ….etc."
Then I am offered with a bunch of options to either:

1) Start in Safe Mode
2) Safe Mode with Networking
3) Safe Mode with Command Prompt
4) Start Windows Normally
5) Last Known Good Configuration

None of them work, the safe mode ones, show a bunch of lines of code as per normal when starting up safe mode, then it freezes and stops and eventually goes back to the screen mentioned above. Same for 4 and 5, windows blue loading bar screen comes up, then the screen turns black and nothing. After a few mins my computer restarts again and goes back to the screen mentioned above.

Prior to my computer not being able to restart/load windows. I had some pop up vundu trojans i was trying to remove. Did some research after about 5 hours finally removed it. At this point i tried to minimize task manager and my computer froze up. I waited about an hour came back and still nothing so i manually turned off my computer and turned back on. A:Some Pages wont load at all and others load fine

Try running a ping to the sites that have trouble loading to see what kind of connection times you are looking at. I would also run a tracert to those sites to see if there are any places dropping the connection.

Do you have more then 1 computer connected to your modem/router? If so, does this happen on them? If not, can you connect a separate one (ex: friend's laptop) to test?

Normally when you get errors like this it's best to rule out a problem at the modem/router and provider before going crazy over trying to fix a problem (that may not exist) on your PC(s).

Also just a couple of other questions:

Who is your internet provider (ISP)?
What connection type do they use (Cable/DSL/Fiber/Fixed Wireless/Mobile Wireless)?
What is the make and model of your router and modem?

It appears that you have already posted a hijackthis log here. Please be patient while waiting for assistance. HJT Helpers are all volunteers regardless where you post a log. While waiting for a response, you should not ask for help elsewhere or make changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc.) Any modifications you make on your own can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, following advice outside of that post may cause confusion for the HJT Helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer. If you had posted your log here, similar rules would apply. We would ask that you be patient while awaiting a reply and refrain from asking for help elsewhere. If you followed any other advice already, please ensure you inform the HJT Team Helper when they respond to assist you with your log. This will help them know what has been done and they probably will ask for an updated log.To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. If you still need assistance after your log has been reviewed and you have been cleared, please start a new topic. If you have any questions, please PM me or another moderator. Thanks for your cooperation.

ok I have a Dell gx240 with windows xp home edition with 512 mb of ram.
It has been running extremely slow lately.
and bringing up task manager to stop the unwanted processes isn't working at all (Ill hit end process and nothing at all happens)
And I too am also experiencing the search engine redirecting thing. sometimes clicking a link prompts a download for a application-octet stream(?) type file.....

A:Task Manager wont end processes, Google searches redirected

Hello can we run MBAM as it should resolve a few of these issues. 512 RAM with XP is the bare minimum so slownees will be somewhat common.Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (v1.45) and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button... I have a Toshiba laptop running on Vista. All my Google searches are being redirected, even in safe mode. Popups galore. Tried (and paid) for Stopzilla and Malaware Removal but neither worked. Friend said do a sytem restore to a week ago, before all this happened. I did, but all the problems are still there. Now after I restart it shows a msg that something is wrng & shuts down. I can hardly get online, maybe once out of 3-4 restarts/shutdown. Any ideas? Sorry I'm having to do this on my blackberry. Before doing anything if you have not already done so, you should back up all your important documents, personal data files and photos to a CD or DVD drive as some infections may render your computer unbootable during or before the disinfection process. Nothing will load on my Compaq Presario 700 notebook. It wont even turn on in safe mode.
When I go to turn it on it sounds like the hard drive attempts to spin. I don't hear the fans, but all the lights come on. The battery is fairly new and everything is plugged in properly.
All this began when I was running Macromedia Dreamweaver MX and it locked up forcing me to shut down.
Any ideas?

Hello.I came home from work today and noticed that my computer was running much slower than normal. I noticed a new shortcut on the desktop and asked my son what it was.He had installed a game called Shaiya earlier in the day. A program called GameGuard was also automatically installed with the game. After looking into both of these subjects it seems that the GameGuard program is problematic for many people and I am now assuming that it is what has made the sudden change in my computers speed. It also seems that uninstalling the programs is difficult and involves manually modifying registry items. I am not comfortable doing this and I am posting this topic to get some professional help. The only other info in this forum I could find on this topic mentioned needing to post a HJT log so that is what I am doing here.Below I have pasted the following txt files per the instructions in the forum intro. Ok, so I go into any game with nProtect GameGuard (FlyFF, ijji Gunz) and I get the same two errors when GameGuard tries to Authenticate.

"Program Error
GameMon.des.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
Windows. You will need to restart the program
An error log is being created."

"GameGuard execute error : 114
GameGuard initialization error. Try rebooting and executing the game or close the program considered to cause a collision."

Now of course the first thing I do is restart the program, then reboot and try again, after that didn't work I closed all other applications that I could, when that failed I looked around and found out it could be a virus, used Spy Sweeper and cleared 3 trojans that AVG didn't know existed, and I still get the errors when I try to start the game.

My drivers are up to date, I've turned off my Anti-virus, I've remade accounts, and yet it still doesn't run.

I've played before, so I know the games work, but here are my specs anyways.

This is a heads up for anyone playing games that run Gameguard, such as Maplestory Mabinogi or Gunbound.
For anyone who read my thread a few days ago, my computer was crashing during gameplay of a few games, Maplestory most notably. The probably was diagnosed as and agreed apon by the responses as a Graphics Card overheat error, which concerned me as it hasn't happened before. I may now have found the problem, to which I would like to inform my fellow gamers.

The problem started when my girlfriend's brand new computer started having the same issue last night out of the blue. I decided to scour the web for possible problems with the game. I found a thread somewhere describing an error with gameguard BSODing when there was a critical error in the program. Doing more homework, I found out that gameguard's error handler is tied right into the kernal process of windows and activated a BSOD instead of crashing just the game. Wondering what could have possibly done that, I decided to check gameguard's website WHEN I remembered: I have other gameguard games.

I uninstalled them all(including maplestory) did a system search for gameguard anything and manually deleted it. Ran CCleaner to get rid of leftover files(probably was unneccesary). Redownloaded Maplestory and ran the program. It's been running(and still is) error free for the last hour and a half(twice as long as I've made it in the last 3 weeks). I was gonna try it on my girlfriend's compute... Read more

It has this anti-hacking software called nProtect Gameguard. You have to go through its updating process in order to play. The problem is I keep getting error 380 and so it exits. Every guide I find is in bad English (nProtect is Korean) and doens't tell you how to fix it. I'm not using a proxy or anything. Can anyone help me out?

hi all the problems i have occur with game gaurd on such games as albatross18,and rakion.

as for both of these games there was a time when i was able to play them, then gradualy i started to get errors and no longer could play.

rakion loads up the nprotect/gameguard then acts like its going to start but i get no screen or anything.then when i try to run it again it says "the game is overlapped,or gamegaurd is already in execution. Please try again after you terminate the game" or this "this is game guard initilization error.please try again after you re-boot or close any other program that may be coliding" well ive checked and the game isnt running, and no processes of the game or gameguard are running, and i also cant find anything that would colide with it.. some people said it might be spyware of some sort, but i scanned with 3 different programs and im clean according to them.

any help is appreciated thank you

Hi hi.So I play ijji's Gunz: The Duel. I tried playing Exteel (both of which games use Nprotect GameGuard). Exteel's gameguard would always come up with an error message, and as such, I couldn't play the game. So I gave up on it, and went back to Gunz. It seems the Gunz gameguard was overwritten with the Exteel gameguard, as the same error message now occured whenever I tried to play Gunz.So I uninstalled Exteel, reinstalled Gunz, deleted GameGuard, only to find that GameGuard is, in fact, a rootkit, and all that technical stuff is beyond me.So I deleted the GameGuard that installs with Gunz, knowing that upon trying to play the game, it would re-download and reinstall (with the hopes of re-overwriting Exteel's gameguard), but it came up with an error message saying:"GameGuard initialization error. Try rebooting and executing the game or close the program considered to cause a collision."Basically, I want to be able to play Gunz: The Duel again, without formatting my computer. Here are my DSS Logs:Deckard's System Scanner v20071014.68Run by Brian Collins on 2008-04-13 12:18:17Computer is in Normal Mode.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- System Restore --------------------------------------------------------------Successfully created a Deckard's System Scanner Restore Point.-- Last 5 Restore Point(s) --75: 2008-04-13 04:18:32 UTC - RP852 - Deckard's System Scanner Restore Point74: 2008-04-12 08:23:15 UTC - RP851 - Syst... i dunno....maybe you have a file on your computer it doesn't like.....try scanning your computer for viruses......if you have a file that may look like a virus, as several hacks do so, sometimes anti-cheat systems will cut you off.

or you may have an external process it may not like...

i really don't know otherwise...
uninstall...
manually make sure all lthe files are deleted
and reinstall
..... i dunno otherwise.

As of yesterday any games that have Game Guard do not work. They all give me error message 114.

The games I play with gameguard are Grand Chase and Gunz. I have contacted my ISP, Dell and the game providers via help desk. My ISP and Dell said it was the game, Gunz said it was my computer, I haven't recieved a response from Grand Chase.

Now, I have tried all solutions I have found on the internet. I do not have a firewall. Nothing has changed since the day before yesterday on my computer. It happened over night basically, when my computer wasn't even on.

I do have AVG anti-virus, however that NEVER caused this before. I've been playing this games along side AVG for a long time. I even have AVG disabled when I play, it still doesn't work.
It is really frustrating me, and honestly I am really tempted to throw this computer out my door.

Ok so i was playing this game called 2moons for about a month it was awesome and i got addicted to it. its kinda like WOW but free. so anyway, one i clicked the launcher and it did nothing for awhile then a error poped up and said connection error. i was like ok w/e and tried again the same thing happened. so i decided to just play a different game. and i tried to log into it (Gunz Online hosted by ijji.com) and it came up with a connection error as well it said "Gameguard execute error 380 failed to connect to gameguard update server. please try again later or check personal firewall settings" so i tried again later (1.5 weeks now) and im still getting that message. i did some research on this to try and fix the problem all the sites i went to said to turn off my firewall while playing the game so i turned it off and i still get the same msg. they also said to delete gameguard and when u run the game again it will update it and ull b fine. that also didnt work. I would be really really greatful if some1 knew how to fix this and tell me. thanks!

So here's this game Ran Online and I have Windows 8 Pro 32-bit.

I always get this error saying that there are programs that conflict with gameguard. I already allowed the game and the gameguard.des and gamemon.des in windows defender and firewall. And I also allowed the entire drive.

So any idea what would these programs be that conflict with game guard?

Thanks in advance.

A:Windows 8 Gameguard Error

I am assuming Game Guard is anti-cheat software for the game just like S4 League's xtrap.

It is dangerous to allow the whole drive and I recommend you undo that. The bad news you can't do anything until they update Game Guard to work with Windows 8

Similar case happen with xtrap and within a month they updated to allow Windows 8.

I am assuming and I don't know Game Guard is thinking your cheating because it only checks the approve OS in its definitions list and windows 8 is not on it.

You can probably sent a email to the company or post on their forums or send a ticket to get them to make a small update to add Windows 8 as a approve OS

I think the actual game runs fine if it ran in Windows 7 just the anti-cheat software needs a update.

Hello,

A couple of weeks ago, I installed wolfteam on my computer, started playing and when I finish playing and get back to the desktop, I cannot open any programs anymore, cannot open my computer or anything. When I double click icons, nothing happens.

I thought it was the game, so I uninstalled and reinstalled with the same problem.

Yesterday, I downloaded 2 new games, Huxley and Pandora saga, both games and wolfteam all come with gameguard. And all these games now do the same thing when I close them. So I guess the problem was not with wolfteam, but rather with gameguard, maybe I'm just jumping to conclusions...

I have over 50 games installed on my computer, online and single player games, and the only 3 games that use gameguard give me this problem.

I did not try uninstalling gameguard and reinstalling because im not sure if I would have to redownload and reinstall the whole games by doing that, Huxley is 4GB, I do not want to redownload if not necessary.

So to repeat myself, the problem is that I cannot open any programs, or windows or do anything anymore on my computer after I close the games. My desktop is there, everything is normal, I can open the start menu, but that's about it.

I tried to attach my Dxdiag file, but it wouldn't let me, so let me know what info you need on my computer other than what I will give...

Hi!

I am new here and I have a problem. I have recently installed Cabal Online and after playing it I noticed something was not right. After trying to find a solution I have decided to uninstall the game and forget about it but then I found out on the internet that GameGuard, which this game uses, is a rootkit and thus a threat to my and my computer's security. I read you have to manually remove it from the computer so I followed some instructions. I deleted the GameGuard folder after uninstalling the game and I also found npptnt2.dll and nppt9x.vxd files but I can't find the place in registry all those people on the internet mentioned. Is it possible that there is nothing left of GameGuard? How big a threat is GameGuard really? Can you please help or give information or something? You would make a guy's life easyer

P.S. I believe that when I found this site & forum I found a goldmine. I bet there is a lot of good information here

I am sick and tired of this worthless security software. I used to play Mabinogi, a Korean MMO from Nexon, and of course they use that infernal GameGuard BS. Fool that I was, I tolerated its presence since I liked the game more than most. Well, trust me, I paid for it. Who knows how much it has altered the registry.

Worse, it has disabled my keyboard! I use Vista and a Logitech Wave Keyboard. Once in a while, Mabinogi fails to load up and I see a white screen instead of the title. My mouse works but my keyboard is disabled and I have to do a hard reboot. Upon reboot, it still doesn't work. I switch the USB to another port... voila, it works. But it will never work for that previous port again!

I didn't suspect anything until it happened a second time. Now I have two ports on my PC that refuse to work with my keyboard. Any other device works fine, just not the keyboard. This is BS of the highest degree.

I can only guess that it has modified my registry in some way, but I don't even know where to begin. Can anyone help me recover the use of my two USB ports for the keyboard?

A:GameGuard killing my keyboard and USB

I've since uninstalled Mabinogi, deleted the GameGuard folder, deleted the two hidden files it inserted into my system folder and deleted a registry key to no avail. Someone has suggested that GameGuard is using an "input hook", which I've never heard of.

Hi I'm not sure if this should be posted in the games section, but it seems more like a virus is causing an issue in this case.

When I run Iris online, a new mmorpg which uses gameguard hack protection, nothing else but the game can connect to the internet. Prior to gameguard loading I can use either browser (IE or firefox) and they work absolutely fine.

However this all stops after I load the game, yet I can still connect to the game and it runs, but nothing else can connect to the internet despite being able to ping websites and that works and the internet says it is connected but never loads a page.

One or two times however I could run the browser and load sites fine whilst playing Iris and gameguard was running then too, but these times are rare and often when i close the game, the browsers stop working.

This only happens on this one game using gameguard, other times in the past playing other mmos with the same hack protection it worked fine. A simple way to fix this would be to stop playing the game, but it's a really fun game! Also another reason why I'm concerned and want to get to the bottom of this issue is no one else i spoke to on the game has this problem so it must be something wrong with my computer which I would like to fix.

I have avg spybot ad-aware malwarebytes webroot spy sweeper and have scanned my pc a few times and found nothing that could be causing this. If it is a network problem I would like some help figuring out how to fix it to... Read more

The BSOD that seems to occur when it happens is 0x000000D6 and the file that causes it is dump_wmimmc.sys.

I have tried uninstalling the games and re-installing them, which does not fix the BSOD.

The developers didn't store the driver in the proper place (C:\Windows\System32\drivers)
nor did they name it using a normal convention:

As Gameguard is integrated into the games, this is the only remedy to stop the BSOD's.

I'm posting here because I'm not getting any response on the Virus Malware board. I play an online game from GamesCampus, and I had to install Gameguard. I constantly get error messages from AVG.
avwsc.exe encountered a problem and needs to close
Exception in modul AVGNT.EXE
I turned off Avira while I play this game, but I still get booted out of a game all of a sudden, with error messages from Gameguard. I tried several solutions from gameguard and nothing seems to correct this problem. Initially I thought I had a virus, which I still don't know. Then I thought it may be a conflict with my antivirus. Now I am so frustrated and don't know where to turn to figure this out. My girlfriend has the same set up as me, Avira free, and gameguard, and she plays the same game but has never had this problem. The only difference is she has ZoneAlarm firewall, and I'm using Wins firewall.

I am attaching the DxDiag report.
Thank you I hope someone can help.

I've had a couple of problems doing searches in the past few days but most of them seem to be ok now. However, one thing hasn't returned and I know it's not a major problem but I would like to get it back. Previously when I did a search and the various websites are listed, they would show up with the relevant details including telephone numbers and the country flag beside the telephone number which easily showed where the website was based. However, the country flag details are not appearing anymore beside the telephone numbers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Hello,About a week ago I had an issue where google would take additional time to load (I refer to my google account), and eventually would report that my usage of the site was violating their ToS, and would endlessly prompt me to enter a captcha. If I went to the vanilla google.com site, it would allow me to search but clicking a result would redirect me to some slightly related site. Eventually, my computer locked up and the classic WinAntivirus "scareware" popped up that doesn't allow me to run any applications and consistently attempts to make me purchase their "antivirus". Having been down that road before, I booted in safe mode and ran malwarebytes and tdsskiller. That activity stopped. Now, I cannot load google at all. Repeated runs of malwarebytes continually show infections, especially an infected svchost.exe. I'm yet to boot up the ol' packet sniffer to see if anything sketchy is outgoing due to lack of time, and I'm stumped so I figured I'd ask this helpful and amazing community.EDIT: Running windows 7DDS:.DDS (Ver_2011-08-26.01) - NTFSAMD64 Internet Explorer: 9.0.8112.16421 BrowserJavaVersion: 1.6.0_30Run by Love Machine at 3:54:50 on 2012-04-04Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 6.1.7601.1.1252.1.1033.18.8190.6649 [GMT -4:00].SP: Windows Defender *Enabled/Updated* {D68DDC3A-831F-4fae-9E44-DA132C1ACF46}.============== Running Processes ===============.C:\Windows\system32\wininit.exeC:\Windows\system32\... Im 19 years old, i live in massachussetts, and im fairly good managing a computer.
Recently, ive been having this problem with GameGuard. Gameguard is a program used to prevent hacking, using 3rd party programs in a game etc. Ive downloaded 2 different kinds of games that have gameguard. the first is darkeden. Darkeden is a low memory, not very good graphics kind of game. Im running a Dell pent4 2.66ghz 512 ram Nvidea GeForce FX 4200 - 128. Whenever i try and start this game, after Nguard runs, it brings me to a blue screen of death, every time. It gives me the error 0x0000008e. I also play another game called Lineage 2 w/ a few buddies on a private server. This game puts my graphic driver to its limits. Still runable tho.... Now letss move onto the other game. The other game is called Silkroad Online. I just downloaded this game and found that it has Nguard on it. This game also gives me the same error. Welcome to BC
Without any more info all I can give is an educated guess. There are small plastic jumpers on the back of hard drives and optical drives that must be in the proper position. The positions are Master and Slave. The device on the end of the cable is set to master and the middle connector on the cable should plug into the device set as slave There should be a diagram either on the drive or with the paperwork that came with the drive. Also recheck all of the connections inside, you might have knocked something loose
