google calendar not loading on my igoogle home page on Safari

Q: google calendar not loading on my igoogle home page on Safari

Any tips on how to get my google calendar function back on my igoogle home page on Safari?

I am running XP and am using the Safari browser with igoogle as my home page. Up until the last day or so, my google calendar loaded fine on my home page. Then, the upcoming events ceased to load, but by expanding the calendar to a new window, i could see my events. Finally, today, when i expanded the home page calendar, it showed up, but was blank--no events at all.

Fortunately, when I went to my google account and opened my calendar that way, i was able to view all my events (what a relief).

iGoogle is so non-intuitive it is ridiculous.....spending all kinds of time trying to figure out how to move gadgets around, add links......all I want to do is add a regular web site URL to my iGoogle home page.....it's just a MLB team's official site.....how do I do this? I can't find a simple "add this or that" anywhere. Much appreciated if someone can let me know.....embarrassed I even have to ask; this should be so simple. It used to be....Thanks!

A:How do I add a URL to iGoogle home page?????

You need to use the iGoogle developer tools to create your own custom gadgets using XML for web site's that do not already have a gadget:

Hi All, the 3 images below are of my iGoogle Home Page. I used 'Print Screen' & 'Paint' to make them.
They have not been altered in any way except to erase some printing. All are the newest versions.
The bottom of the page is closer to the top in IE9 but not in Chrome or Firefox, WHY?

A:iGoogle Home Page X 3

This happens because Google has two (or potentially more) versions of those pages.

If you open ie page source code it begins with
Code:
<!doctype html><html><head><meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=9">
Other browsers have
Code:
<!doctype html><html><head><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
If they have differences in the beginning I imaging that there would be other differences in the body of the document.

Why would they do that? Probably trying to optimize performance due to the differences in web-rendering engines of different browsers.

So yeah I committed the dastardly crime of installing something BETA by microsoft.

Version of IE (Internet Explorer): 8 Beta 2
Operating System: XP SP2
What you have tried: Changing the homepage to microsoft.com works strangely...
What the problem is: I have set the options in IE8 so that whenever I open up a new tab it loads my home page. However it gives my the page cannot be displayed problem. the funny thing is whenever I refresh on press homepage after doing so it loads the page, so its nothing to do with my connection.
Give detail explaining your problem: See above.
If you get any error message please post them: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

I'm pretty sure I'm the only person on the entire internet who has this problem :( I have searched everywhere on google.

A:IE8 not loading google.co.uk as home page in new tab.

Exact same problem with Vista SP1. Page can not open with google.fr as star page, but ok with any other. Same problem with antivirus and firewall disabled.
Refreshing page solves it. Quiet strange.

I use Firefox 3.5 with excellent results. The browser is a miracle to all users and relegates IE to a cosy grave.

NOW ! The net is full of search items from users pleading in desperation for a means of deleting the universally unpopular iGoogle Home Page Tab on the left side of the page.

Solutions are infinite, some from punters and many from "experts" with a conclusion that this obnoxious tab CANNOT be deleted. It was obviously inserted by some irresponsible idiot in the Google organisation to plague the butt off all their users.

WELL chums, this piece of crap CAN be removed easily in a few seconds. Never mind the whole batch of suggestions you may read on the net - DO THIS and get rid of this ridiculous piece of irresponsible crap for ever.

Search for "iGoogle Tab Remover", version 1.9.5 by David Rubin in the authentic Add-ons for Firefox. Download it - it only takes a few seconds, install this add-on and activate.

BINGO ! The Home Tab scourge of iGoogle is GONE for ever.

All the countless hundreds of pleading users and worthless solutions that come up on the net relating to this brainless incursion into customers freedom of choice are rendered a waste of net space.

Job done in seconds.

Greetings,

When I open my home page, Google News, the images don't load and show a white box with a black x inside.
Things worked normally until yesterday when I downloaded a Java Update so I assume that it is somehow involved with the problem.

I have made sure the Show pictures option is enabled under Multimedia under internet properties.
I am using Windows7, Internet Explorer 11. 64 Bit operating system.
I also have Java standard edition Version 7 Update 45

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
MikeEdit: Moved topic from Windows 7 to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

A:no images loading on Google home page

The problem is that Google News does not use Java.  I do not know where you got that you needed Java to go to google.com/news.  If anything, I would say that your Internet Explorer is screwed up.  Try Google Chrome or Firefox and see what happens.

What add-ons do you have loaded in Internet Explorer, and are you using something like OpenDNS, to do your DNS resolution on your computer.

A:Loading Home Page Problem...HELP!

Have you installed anything from Yahoo, indeed anything at all lately? Yahoo downloads always tend to give you more than you really want (unless you do a custom download and select what you want), usually the Yahoo toolbar and I've noticed a lot of other downloads do it too.

Open your Crap Cleaner and use tools, select Yahoo and click uninstall and it will show you all the Yahoo stuff you have installed, if there's anything there that shouldn't be, get rid.

Try changing your homepage too. It might be an embedded message in that MSN page.

A:Problems loading Excite as home page

I have occasionally had that happen on Firefox and had to completely uninstall it and remove every registry entry to solve it, because I never understood whyit hapened. many spyware programs screw with Excite home page as the" freebies" believe it is spyware, olne of the reasons I stopped using Spybot and Spywareblaster. I never saw it happen in IE, but of course I do not use IE for much of anything.

Hi All

I am hosting my website on my own PC at home. I am running Apache on a virtual Ubuntu machine inside my windows machine (using a Bridged Virtual Network adapter)

Now I am using a Dynamic DNS service to map my domain name to my public IP.

Problem: When Ioad my domain name, the site loads fine, no problems, but when I load the web page from an external PC (that is not on my network) the site loads EXTREMELY slow (web page does not even load properly). Now I have a 1Mbps broadband line at home.

I suspect that the upload speed for my line is to slow to handle traffic requested from outside? Or can it be something else?
I tested it on my own PC using a Proxy service (to mimic an external PC) and the result is the same: Very slow

Thank you

A:Web Page Loading slow on home server

You can run an test from speedtest.net to verify your upload speed. You might also want to look into allocating more resource to the virtual machine.

Recently, iGoogle themes stopped loading in Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome due to a MIME type issue with the theme CSS file.

Firefox's error console shows this error:
Code:

Error: The stylesheet http://www.google.com/ig/f/UO7LEA3RSb0/skins/beach/beach_10am_sprite_v2.css?hl=en&gl=us was not loaded because its MIME type, "text/html", is not "text/css".
Source File: http://www.google.com/ig?hl=en&source=mpes
Line: 0

I'm not posting this here to get assistance but to raise the issue to see if others have experienced this as well and to provide a place where others can post comments, etc.

I first noticed this on my mom's computer and her "Beach" theme loaded just fine until the other day. I'm not sure what changed or when.

A Google search located this thread:

http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/sites/thread?tid=044de4a0d6d0cae9&hl=en

but that doesn't talk about iGoogle themes specifically.

Have you experienced this as well?

Peace...

A lot of malicious HOSTS file redirects mess with Google. Have you tried checking it?

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\

There should be a file called HOSTS, open it in notepad and either put what's in there in here, or PM me with the data.

If the file is not there, you'll need to go to your view options and tell the system to display protected operating system files, and hidden files and folders.

Once you have the data from the file, turn at least the protected system file display back off: not only is it annoying at times, it can be dangerous to have those files visible.

Hi,

I'm having trouble opening my home page in an English version. I was messing around with Windows a few weeks back trying to install Chinese on MS Word and it's after changing a few things on Windows. For example, when I open IE6, my home page which is Google is in Chinese. I've reset my home page to google.ie in English on numerous occasions but it keeps reverting back to Chinese.

Also, when I click on the clock in the taskbar, the months appear in Chinese characters. Now, I had been fiddling with the settings and had added Chinese as one of the languages but removed it so it must be this that made the dates change into Chinese. How can I get them back into English. This isn't my computer - that's the main reason I'd like to get it back into English.

God bless,

Phil.

Hello I'm having a bit of trouble with Internet Explorer on Windows 8.1 PRO 64 bit. I just erased my hard drive with DOD and reinstalled windows clean. Updated and installed SUPERAntiSpyware Professional, SpywareBlaster, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Bitdefender Total Security 2015. And Even CCleaner PRO. But IE keeps making the home page ABOUT:BLANK and I cant change it. Is this normal for IE to have that as the home page and to be unchangeable. I had no external hard drives or flash drives plugged at the time of restoring the OS but I did notice the computer going a tad bit slower after the restore. Such as transfer rates and such on the hard drive windows explorer.exe not loading very fast. Icons taking 7 secs to load the picture. Computer boots fast but loading into windows it turns black and I had to press ctrl-alt-del to refresh the explorer.exe. But it seemed after I installed everything IE's home page became about:blank. I built the computer years ago, the cpu is about 45 C and the GPU is around 35 C and the PSU has the right volts the bios is updated. Nothing about the hardware seems wrong. I just don't understand the issue I'm facing. Could anybody help me out with this?

A:IE About:blank home page unchanegable, windows isn't loading correctly.

I would approach this as with any other user's issue; and it looks like you have some experience on the forum based on your Post history.

You mention it's a custom-built PC you built; it would be very helpful to have your Mobo specs and Hard drive Make/Model if available. If not, download SPECCY for free at piriform.com and post back here. Custom-built PC's can be tricky, and this could be anything from a failing PSU to a nasty spyware virus that Hijacked your home page. Also, what version of IE are you running?

We need to try and narrow down between a software issue with Windows and a possible hardware failure of RAM, Disk, GPU, and Motherboard. You know all these details; we do not, so the only way we have of getting this information is to ask you.

Couple of more questions for you; what version of Windows were you running on your Custom-rig prior to the Win8.1 upgrade? Did you run the Windows Compatability Assistant prior to installing the 8.1 upgrade to check for driver or hardware compatibility issues? If your Motherboard is like 5 yrs. old or older you can have problems. My Dell Studio540 had a number of minor issues when I attempted the 8.1 upgrade on it last year; and it's 6 yrs. old now. And it did require me to Flash the BIOS to newest version to run the 8.1 properly.

I'm sure you're aware that older hardware and newer/newest versions of Windows don't always mix well, like oil and water.

That being said; have you run hard drive diagnostics (Seatools or... Read more

SpySweeper, Spybot and other security software have an option to lock the homepage. That option has to be temporarily turned off when you want to change the homepage.

So I restarted my windows xp machine today and noticed google chrome isn't loading any website. I thought it was a bad extension so i went to the tools->extensions but even that page did the same thing. So I reinstalled chrome and deleted everything i could find that was related to chrome even in the app data folders. Restarted computer and reinstalled chrome same thing. Turned off all firewalls and antivirus. Still does the same thing. Seeing a page load for a split second makes me think some virus or something has infected my computer. After some research I found this post http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/SBenHck7nU4 Same problem as me and the guy saids it turned out to be Rootkit-gen[RTK]. Hi All,

I have noticed a quite annoying delay in google chrome (Btw I just reinstalled it now).
It takes between 5 to 10 seconds (Sometimes more) for it to start loading any address i enter. For instance, entering www.bleepingcomputer.com then hitting enter, there will be an unepected wait/delay/silence for many seconds before the browser start trying to lookup and load the page.

Second observation: Navigating to a link within an already opened website loads instantly (This means that the problem only occurs when i enter new website)

Third Observation: Navigating to bleepingcomputers.com from a tab with www.yahoo.com already loaded will firstly read "waiting for y3.analytics.yahoo.com" for some seconds before starting to load the new web. While navigating to a site from a new tab will also say waiting for www.google.com before starting to load the new web.

Please help..
Thanks.

Ps: I have latest version of chrome

A:Google Chrome 5 to 10 seconds delay before start loading page

I have found, as weird as it seems, if you remove the tick from the 'automatic detect settings' option within the internet options dialogue box from control panel, connections, lan connection, ive found this can take a few seconds off the start, especially the 'stall'.

I had tried numerous times to set Google as home page by going into IE/internet option- by typing in the Google URL. Even though this a suggested method by Googl to set Google as homepage in IE, it is not working at all. Everytime I set it, it has a tendancy to revert back to Megasearch .com(that I am trying to remove). I suspect I have been HIJACKED, do you think? What is the best way of setting Google as homepage? Thank you for everyone's invaluable help. MGBY.(Moderator edit: thread moved to more appropriate forum. jgweed)

A:Can Not Set Google As Home Page

Normally I would suggest that an anti-spware program is stopping you from changing the homepage. The fact that your homepage reverts back to megasearch.com is more worrying.I have read your post and I think it would be wise for you to post a HijackThis log for an expert to review.I recommend you follow the HijackThis preparation guide which can be found here. It is important that you follow the guide closely. A number of scans will be run which may well fix your problem. As the guide says, after you have completed the scans that are recommended, please post your HijackThis log in a new topic in the forum found here. Please add your system infomation and also what problems you are having. Please be patient, and a HJT team member will help you to clean up your system.

Hi there,

I downloaded a screen saver that must of had what I believe would be a malware of some kind.

every time I want to go on my google home page, I always end up on this crapy page with the following adresse which I can't seem to get rid of :

Search No matter what I do I cant seem to get back on my google home page.

Also, when I go on the Google chrome favorites pages, I seem to have lost all my windows and end up with this crapy looking list of my favorit sites.

Here is the first attachment, describing my new (unwanted homepage). the second attachement is the type favorites page I had before, and finaly the third attachement is the new page I am left with

How can I find my old pages back ?

Thanks

A:Lost Google chrome home page

It didn`t have malware, it had boxes checked that you didn`t uncheck when you installed it. When installing downloaded software you have to go slow and read everything.

You should be able to go into Chrome`s settings and put your homepage back to what you had.

My home page recently began to reset itself to googles homepage and I sometimes encounter redirects when following links in google searches. I ran an Ad-aware scan and turned up a few things, but I had a clean scan with AVG antivirus.

I'm new to Hijack this and would appreciate any help interpreting the following log:

Hi all,
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate and IE11 and just recently I noticed a heap of gobbledegook after the Google Home page address.
https://www.google.com.au/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=nFSvVNHeOdDu8wfd4YLwBw&gws_rd=ssl
When you check the IE Tools General homepage it shows:
http://www.google.com.au/
and when you check the default tab you get:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=255141
my question is: are my IE11 settings normal for Google as my home page and what are all the symbols and letters doing after google.com.au/ and go.microsoft.com/?
I know they are some form of codes or extensions but have no knowledge of how they got there - they just appeared by default.
Your advice would be appreciated, thanks.

A:Google Search Bar & Home Page Hijack

Hello beg4mercy, my name is David, welcome to BC!My first remark is to say that yes, unfortunately you are infected. To be more specific, from the Hijackthis log you posted I can see you are infected with Sdbot trojans/worms, which are capable of backdoor activity. To be brief, due to the status of some of the files you have on your computer, I strongly recommend that you do the following immediately. Disconnect the infected computer from the internet until the computer can be cleaned. From a clean computer, change your online passwords-- for email, for banks, eBay, forums etc.... Do not change passwords or do any transactions while using the infected computer because the attacker may get the new passwords and transaction information. I've research the entries, and found this information, in case you find it useful:Trojan-Proxy.Win32.Xorpix.Fam is a family of trojans that allow a remote attacker to control the infected machine and use it to direct traffic to the internet without the user's knowledge. The Xorpix trojans lower the security of the machine by terminating process of security applications such as firewalls and anti-virus programs. Xorpix may also download additional malware from the internet. The infected machine may become part of a network of infected machines and used by the attacker to send spam or perform other malicious activities. So, that's the first thing, I recommend you change your passwords. Here are useful links, in case you wish to read more on the... Read more

Hi, I would really appreciate somebody?s help.
I am running Windows XP Home SP 3. I downloaded some free trial software and a new programme and got something much unexpected!
Initially I had a pop-up which appeared constantly saying Intervalhehehe approx three times in a line the last one followed by!!! Also my Explorer home page (Google) was and still is being directed to an apparent official Microsoft web site with exactly the following warning:

Alert : Your computer have been attacked by spyware or viruses!
Please download AntiSpyware to fix.
Download AntiSpyware Now

The pop-up has stopped since I carried out a restore. However the re-directing problem still exists and is very worrying, I have an HP home server also on my network and I am concerned this may become infected. I have run McAfee and Windows Defender but neither detect anything unusual (very scary).

I have run a scan and hopefully attach the necessary files.

Many thanks in anticipation,

kesa.

Hello kesa,

It may likely require more than one round to properly clean your system. Please stay with me until given the 'all clear' even if symptoms seemingly abate.

We will begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix

* Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply for further review.

I recently updated my software on my MacBook Pro. Apparently, this was a BIG MISTAKE because now I can't get to web sites I could access in the past. The error message I get is "Safari can't open the page ... because it couldn't establish a secure connection to the server ..."
very annoying. I will likely never update my software again. I was naive to assume that that was a bad idea only on PCs, but apparently it is a bad idea for Macs, too.
please advise if you are able.

A:Safari won't let me go to web page

Hi carrieaboone,

What software on your MacBook Pro did you update - was it the recent 15 security updates for OS X 10.4.8?

Just because Safari can't establish a secure connection does not mean any update you applied is responsible, and surely does not mean you should never update your software again.

I am a user of Firefox and have been for many years, but now that Mozilla have engaged in a version race to infinity and the Google toolbar plus several add-ons and possibly other auxiliary programs do not work, I am considering moving over to Chrome.

I use Windows XP 2002 Home with SP3, AVG2012 and ZA firewall.

I am currently giving Chrome a good trial run, but again the Google toolbar,KeyScrambler and NoScript are not supported. As I use Sandboxie and have no personal finance details on my computer, the loss of these otherwise useful programs does not matter too much. Nothing will get onto my computer and knowing my key strokes is of little value. NoScript ? No great loss regarding security in my case.

Question ?

I find that Chrome takes an age to load the Google Home Page and so do many other users on the web. Much slower than Firefox. Seems to be something to do with loading the Cache, I get a message saying "Waiting for Cache" and a time-out panel saying "Kill or Wait". Timing it results in 60-70 seconds from clicking the desktop icon to being fully loaded. Once loaded, all is OK. Firefox takes 35 seconds. I am finding Chrome with extensions and my selected settings a very attractive alternative to Firefox..

Is there anything that can be done about this ?

A:Chrome slow to load Google Home Page

Just an update.

I have found that adjusting the Chrome settings has made a big improvement.
Wrench>Options>Under the Hood>Privacy. Uncheck item 3 and/or item 2. I am currently running with items 2 & 3 unchecked.
The load time is now 5-10 seconds - it does vary a little, but is mostly 5 seconds. this is without Sandboxie.
With Sandboxie, the load time is 12-20 seconds. Infinitely better than before, so in the absence of another solution, there it stays. I can live with that.

Here is a screen shot :-

I got hijacked by Buenosearch and had to go through a big process, and now I lost my IE homepage which had news, weather, sports sites, etc, etc, all customized just how I like it........I decided to just stick with Google Chrome, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to set up all this stuff for the home page. I've really tried......all I see are ways to add apps. I don't want apps! Any help appreciated.

A:Solved: Google Chrome: how do I set home page with news, etc?

Did you remove Buenosearch from the computer? (There are free programmes that can detect hijacking programmes hidden in the computer and clean them up if you would like that.)

First step would be to uninstall the hijacker completely which I assume you must have done. To configure the settings for your homepage etc. for Google Chrome, enter in the address bar chrome://settings/.
Also check to make sure it didn't leave behind any add-ons on the browser.

Ever since I replaced a broken screen in my daughter's HP G4 (14in), there has been a really weird thing going on.

Opening her home browser page to google resuls in an add playing. There is nothing else open but google/home.

At first, I told her to deal with it but at times, the adds are for inappropriate stuff like condoms and porn sites.

It's clearly a virus or something but I cannot find it. Cleaning and restoring back to earlier points hasn't worked. And now she's taken over my computer.

Any ideas guys?

(I really don't recomend on clicking on that it forwards you to like 80 different places and you finnily end up at some fake news report on making tons of money by doing nothing for google)

One other odd thing it was doing is if you went to google.com, you get forwarded to skype.com. Also if you go to yahoo.com and take a link to anything that is www.google.com or google.com you end up at skype.com.

If you go to maps.google.com there isn't an issue.

Hi Guys and Girls

I am currently working on a HP compaq machine was an odd problem, Upon opening Internet explorer I am taken to the HP home page as it is set to but if I try to navigate to the Google home page IE isn?t able to open it and comes back with:

'Internet Explorer can not display web page'

if i try typing in another web page such as BBC.co.uk or Techsupportforum.com I get to it fine. I also attempted to use another search site like yahoo to try and get to Google but Yahoo was another site that came back with that error.

I have tried running anti viral programs such as, Malwarebytes, Spybot and superanti spyware with no success. I can also provide a Hijack this log to view if needed.

One thing i did discover is if I disable the local aria connection and enable it again i have no errors connecting to Google and any other site for that matter, but once the machine is restarts Google and Yahoo have the same problem again.

Any help you could provide my be great! ^^b

I seem to be having some severe problems with some sort of Hijack issue in my browser.
I use Windows XP and Google is my home page.
When I open my browser, all is good besides the Google pic takes a while to load. Google comes up but when I conduct a search it either tells me to check my connection (Connection unavailable) or it directs me to various different pages. Its definitely not a problem with my connection because I am using my laptop with the same connection. I have noticed that the actual Google home page is slightly different to its usual. There is no link to sign into my google account and there is a new header in the top left hand corner called: Shopping, which when I click on it I am signed into Google as [email protected] This is not me, clearly.
I have run various anti virus/spyware/malewale software but nothing seems to get rid of it. There is a new program installed called "Windows Protection Suite" which I never installed.
Please help?

I have several calendars under one Google Calendar account (usually by school subject and other important matters) but Metro Calendar app only syncs one default calendar, which I only use it to note Holidays.

Is there a way to sync all Google Calendars using Metro Calender app? Thank you!!

Hello,

I uploaded my school calendar to my google calendar so I can see it in my android phone but i had to delete it because there was a problem with it. When I try to upload it again I get the following error message :"Failed to import events: Some of the events in this file were not imported because you had imported them to Google Calendar before. Other events in this file have been imported.."

I have looked around online and some people said to open the file with text edit and delete the "UID." I did that but it did not help. Other people say to create another calendar and share it but that is also giving me problems.

Does anyone know how to get around this problem. I really need to have my calendar in my personal calendar that I have for my google account so I can keep my self sane and not get lost in grad school. Thank you for all your help.

Hi,

Have been trying for a while to sync windows 10 calendar on my laptop with windows 10 calendar on my wife's laptop. No luck so far.

I have linked both individual windows 10 calendars with our individual google calendars, and events transfer successfully from both windows 10 calendars, through both google calendars, but will not download to the other windows 10 calendar.

Is that clear?

What I am trying to say is that I can create an event on my windows 10 calendar, it transfers to my google calendar, and then to my wife's google calendar, but it does not load on to my wife's windows 10 calendar. This works both ways.

Help will be very much appreciated. Please note that while I use my laptop a great deal I have little insight into the technicalities. It's a tool!

I used to have search options for "Search Australia" and "Search the Web" but now they have gone walkabout!

They were a couple of (tickable) blank dots directly below the text wording of the subject to be searched .........................

What has happened to them? I have tried signing out of Google, restarting the PC but all to no avail.

Thanks
