[SOLVED] Mozilla Firefox New Profile

Q: [SOLVED] Mozilla Firefox New Profile

I upgraded to Firefox 9 in which i was able to activate Google Toolbar using "Addons compatibility reporter".
I created a new profile for Firefox 9 and when i open it Google Toolbar is not there together with bookmarks. "Addons compatibility reporter" did not activate Google Toolbar in the new profile browser.
Do you have any suggestions?

A: [SOLVED] Mozilla Firefox New Profile

Have you tried reinstalling the compatibility report and google toolbar while logged into the new profile?

Hello All,
Here's my problem. I've erased my profile from Mozilla Firefox. I HAVE NOT however erased the profile files.

I have since created a profile with a different name. I would like to import the old profile info (bookmarks inparticular) to my new "default" profile.

As well, what if I wanted to import info from another Mozilla Firefox profile?

Can this be done?

I've tried everything but I can't seem to figure it out.

If you do post please be advised that I am not all that familiar with Firefox.

Thank you all for your time.

A:Solved: Mozilla Firefox...Erased Profile but not files...trying to import to new profile

I move mine manually all the time. If you just want to add the bookmarks.html, just move the one you saved to the new profile. Here is the official instructions from Firefox on backup and restore of the Profile.

A month or so ago when I tried to load Mozilla Firefox I got the message 'your firefox profile cannot be loaded, it maybe missing or inaccessible.

I have looked online for a solution, it seems to be a common problem, but I need a solution in easy language. My computer knowledge is OK but most of the solutions baffled me a little.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that doesn't work.

I'm running Windows Vista.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Hi All,

I'm having an issue with Firefox.  I while back while talking to IT support for another application I may have inadvertently done something to my user account.  Trying to assign administrator privileges I think.  Ever since then my Firefox has not been working and my desktop icons are all screwy.  I've been working around it.

I decided to uninstall Firefox and reinstall it.  Still have the problem.  When I try to open Firefox I get an error saying: 'Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded.  It may be missing or inaccessible'

I'm using Windows 7 64 bit.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

I woke up this morning and started up my computer. When I opened up mozilla and began to surf a bit, a random command prompt window pops up, runs some dialog and then closes just as quickly as it began. The window keeps closing faster than I can read what it is doing but I was able to see that it said something along the lines of "mozilla/roaming profile" i think.....What is going on? I have good virus protection...at least I thought I did. This issue hasn't caused any problems, YET. Please HELP ME, before it DOES!

**Also, after reading the forum prep...I tried running the DDS software like it says...but kept getting a notification popup that says, "DDS is not meant to run in 'Compatibility Mode' this program will now exit." As far as I know, I never set my preferences to run EVERY program in 'Compatibility Mode'. Just a few specific ones. I checked the 'Advanced Settings' in 'Compatibility Mode Troubleshooting', but the 'DDS' program doesn't come up in the list of affected programs...I am a bit stumped at this point.**

Have finally took the plunge and installed the much vaunted "Mozilla Firefox" browser as an alternative to my IE 6, which of course remains as a backup if I get disenfranchised. Thus far I am impressed with the simplicity and speed my new browsing tool is displaying and I realize that there is probably much tweaking that will further improve its performance. There is one thing I miss from my IE setup and that is the ability to spell check within the browser or perhaps I haven't figured this one out yet, maybe someone out there who is more familiar with this utility can put me wise on this. Would appreciate advise on this.

Hi guys, I have been running Mozilla Firefox for a year or so with no major
problems ..... until now. I noticed a little security update available icon up
near my close button and clicked on it. The ensuing window suggested I
should download and install their latest security update to ensure I had all
the latest protection. I did so and then rebooted. As soon as I went to a site
that was password protected ..... I use RoboForm as my password manager ... I was bombarded with error messages from RoboForm and then
from Firefox saying they had to close the window, which it did.
I then uninstalled Firefox and deleted every program I could find in Windows
Explorer and in REGEDIT..... and rebooted. Next I went to one of their
download sites and redownloaded and installed the latest version only to find my problem was still there. I then switched my browser back to Internet
Explorer and everything worked beautifully. Not sure where I should go from
here, I much prefer Mozilla and would feel lost without it.
Anyone able to steer me through this dilemma ??? Please ...

All your sentences running together and all the misspelled words and all the abbreviated words and shortcuts makes your comments hard to read and understand.

Download managers are useless and unneeded, unless you're using a 56K dial-up connection.

If you haven't updated it yet, Mozilla Firefox is now at version 3.6.7.

Something in my Mozilla Firefox browser is doing some weird stuff. When I go to Yahoo mail's log in page and a few other pages, the screen keeps refreshing itself rapidly (like every second) and doesn't stop. I have to hit stop to fill in form information, ect.

Also, it doesn't let me log onto certain other accounts anymore, such as MySpace. Now what's weird is everything seems to work just fine in IE, no problems at all. I tried to remove Firefox and download it again, but I don't think it was completely removed, because when I reinstalled it, I still have all my same bookmarks and still had the same problems.

Hello everyone! I just started using Mozilla Firefox Web browser again, and I wanted to check if my add-ons were up to date. Well, it says that 2 of my add-ons, which are Java(TM) Platform SE 7 U67 (version 10.67.2.1) & Shockwave Flash (version 15.0.0.152) both are potentially vulnerable plugins.

I click on update now, and it directs me to these URLs:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/cpuoct2014-1972960.html for Java
&
http://helpx.adobe.com/security/products/flash-player/apsb14-22.html for Shockwave Flash

I'm really not understanding where I am supposed to download these security fixes, or if there are even any? Also, how do I find out if those two versions are the latest? I'm so confused. I'm not too knowledgeable about Firefox & their features. When I go to my programs on my laptop, it says that my Java is up to date & so is my Adobe Shockwave. Is there a difference between those & the plug-ins?

If anyone can please help me I would greatly appreciate it! I'm afraid something terrible will happen if I do not fix these problems! I also attached a picture of the add-ons.

I recently had a spyware attack and was able, I think, to remove most of the nasties with my trusty antispyware programs in safe mode.

However, I cannot open Mozilla Firefox 3. When I click on it, it opens and begins to load, then closes again. I have a Dell XPS Vista PC (new).

I tried opening it as administrator, and the same thing happens. It comes up briefly, starts loading, then suddenly closes completely.

Can someone help me. I love the new Firefox. Luckily my IE opens okay.

Steve

A:Solved: Cannot Open Mozilla Firefox 3

I did a thorough search of the data base at the Mozilla Firefox website. Among the suggestions to remedy crashes was to uninstall the installation directory and reinstall. I did this, and voila, it now works perfectly.

This does not amount to a complete reinstall. DO NOT uninstall through ADD/REMOVE. So I was able to retain most of my add-ons and toolbars.

I consider this issue solved.

I've read that the Firefox/mozilla web browser is a LOT safer than IE in terms of spyware and malware and am considering changing to it.

The problem is I don't know anything about browsers other than IE;
I have a windows 98 SE computer with IE 6 on it, can I just download firefox and start using it? Do I have to uninstall IE first? Does Firefox operate and look similar or is it more complicated? Finally, is it really 'safer' to use than IE?

Thanks

for the last 3 days I have been unable to connect Thunderbird to my email account to download my email.
My browser has also been off line for most of the time, though occasionally I can get on for a few minutes (like right now). online access usually only lasts about 15 minutes and then my wireless connection is lost.
Is this my Mozilla products, or a virus or BHO, or do I need to replace my rounter?
Please help me figure this out? I also have a post with more details and a Hijack This log under Security and HJT.

Hi there

I have just downloaded Mozilla Firefox (first time ). When I click on the Icon to open it, nothing happens. It just flickers, but never opens, no matter how many times I click on it. No error messages, nothing. I'm on Windows XP.

Has anybody got any ideas? Other posts I've seen, deals with error messages when trying to open Firefox. Mine just won't open, full stop.

Thanks in advance

As many of you readers know, IE is bulky in terms of usage speed. I use Mozilla as my main browser now, but am asking for help via IE (my backup, thank god). I downloaded the update for the 3.02 version of Mozilla, the newest one the creators published. Ever since that download, I cannot open Firefox. I click on the icon and nothing happens. I have Zonealarm Antivirus program on - no viruses have occurred.

When I restart and click on the Firefox, still nothing occurs.

Why is this happening and how can I Fix this?

I have been using Firefox for quite some time. Not too long ago I went to open the program and received an error message "could not find the Mozilla runtime". I figured I was probably due to upgrade versions anyway, so I simply reinstalled the program. It worked for a few days maybe and then received the same error. This has happened at least three times now. What could be wrong?

Im not sure the two could possibly be related, but it should be noted that this began happening at about the same time as my previous post about my Outlook error message.

Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from mozilla.org (or choose the download for your operating system and language from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu and click the close button ).
Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
Windows:
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.

Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.

As of 5/22/08, my firefox won't completely load. Also, when I click on 'Bookmarks', it won't completely load. When I access 'managing bookmarks', and exit, then 'Bookmarks' will load and show all bookmarks. Also, half the time, Mozilla won't respond at all from my desktop. First of all let's check you have no extension issues causing your problems. Start Firefox in Safe Mode (from Start > Programs) and if it loads normally and your bookmark access is trouble free then I'd suggest it was an extension problem. If so, disable all your extensions (while in Safe Mode) and close Firefox. Re-open Firefox normally and enable your extensions 1 or 2 at a time (then close and re-open Firefox) to find the culprit(s).

A:Solved: What are benefits of Mozilla Firefox Browser

It is a lot safer to use and even more safe with add-ons you can get like NoScript. Plus lots of great add-ons your love.
But it is also more easy to setup and use. Your safer just the way it installs and don't have all the setting like IE does that most don't know how to setup. With Firefox you don't have to worry about it.

I just downloaded Mozilla Firefox 1.0.6 and I can't get any pages to load PERIOD!

Everything worked fine before I made the upgrade - and I even tried IE, and everything seemed to be working there, so the problem has to be with Firefox.

I'm getting really pissed off. Everytime I install an update with Firefox, I encounter some weird problem.

I even tried uninstalling this and then installing it directly from the homepage, and still the same problem. I can't get any page to load.

Should I just uninstall and keep the defaults on reinstall? I'm pretty much hooked on Firefox as my browser and don't like Netscape, IE, or others that much anymore. Any ideas let me know, thanks.

PS: I don't think I have a browser hack at all because I have tried the https hookup remotely to my company and it works fine for FTP transfers and all my checking found no bad code on the OS so it must just be the browser.

A:Solved: Mozilla Firefox is starting to act weird lately.

Might be a good idea to uninstall and go for the latest 1.5.05.

I just went myspace and the new plugin loaded automatically and properly.

My problems with Mozilla Firefox started about a week ago. Whenever I would click on the Firefox icon I would get two pop-up messages in succession informing me that I was having some kind of problem with "Chrome registration" and that I needed to "contact the author." At first this was just an annoyance since I was able to close these two pop-ups, after which a Firefox Add-On page would invariably and inexplicably open. After closing this Add-On page Firefox, finally, would then open immediately and function normally from that point on.

Tonight, however, it's finally gotten to the point that now whenever I click on the Firefox icon nothing at all happens. In other words, I'm no longer able to open Firefox. Also, I find it strange that I'm also unable to uninstall Firefox. Whenever I go into the Control Panel and click on "Uninstall a Program," and then click on the Firefox icon, I then get a pop-up tellling me that Windows needs my permission to continue. However, when I then click on Continue absolutely nothing happens; I cannot uninstall Firefox. (Actually, several days ago I was able to uninstall and reinstall Firefox, thinking that doing so would fix my problem, but it didn't. Now it won't even uninstall.)

Earlier tonight I did a System Restore, but that failed to solve my problem.

Since I use Firefox almost exclusively, I would really like to have it functioning again. I would greatly appreciate hearing from an... Read more

I don't know if this is the type of question I should be asking here, but I figure I should anyway, since this little "feature" of Mozilla Firefox 3 makes no sense to me.

If the question has already been asked, I apologize in advance.

Anyway, is there any way to disable... Well, I suppose I would call it internal URL searching for the Firefox navigation bar?

Basically, what I mean is, when I search for something like... Oh, lets say... I start searching for the letter M. Let's say I want to get to the Mozilla Firefox start page, who knows? Anyway, instead of giving me stuff that starts with M, it gives me:

Runescape - the massive online adventure game.

I mean, seriously? Is there any way to disable that stupid as heck feature? If I wanted Runescape I'd be searching for R! Not M!

Anyway, yes... That feature is actually the reason I refused to change to Firefox 3 for so long. If you can help me, I will love you forever.

This is really easy. You need to click on the add execption. Then it will ask you if you want to accept the certificate, you should click on yes. Then you should be able to get to the page.

The reason you are getting this is because you are accessing a secure page, if you look at the url it says https:// that is a secure site you just need to accept the certificate.

A:Solved: ======Mozilla Firefox stealing my screen size!!!

Try using another "theme" and see if the problem persist, then let us know

Also if you are only uninstalling and then reinstalling firefox you are not completely removing it, try a "clean" install

1. Delete your Firefox folder, typically located at C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\
2. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<Windows user name>\Application Data\Mozilla\ and delete the Mozilla folder and all its contents

One file in particular that you may find hanging around, even after running the uninstaller, is called profiles.ini, a configuration file that tells Firefox how to handle the contents of your Profiles folder. Your new version of Firefox will create this file automatically when you run it for the first time, with the proper settings -- but only if you delete the old version first.

Hi,

Long story short, I got a virus last week and received terrific help from CatByte. The link to that thread is below. Everything went well and my computer was running better than it had in years. CatByte suggested I do some further cleanup and maintenance to help keep me from getting another virus. I ran TFC cleaner and after that I couldn't open Firefox. I get the message that Firefox is still running and to close it before trying to open it again. There are no Firefox processes running. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox to no avail. When I did some investigating as to what the problem could be, I read that the profile lock could be the cause and when I went to find the profiles I discovered that the Mozilla profile folder is empty. I think the profiles are somewhere but they aren't in that folder. Any help in getting my Firefox up and running again would be most appreciated. Here's the link to the previous thread:

Thank you!

Linda

Don't use Registry Cleaners! See if yours is reversible or try a system restore if you have a restore point between fixing the problem and using the cleaner. If not, you can build a new profile without "hunting" for the old which is probably easier.

Hello, Last night I started receiving repeated attack warnings from my Norton Antivirus. The websites and IP addresses the attacks were coming from varied, but the one message I kept receiving wasTHE ATTACK WAS RESULTED FROM \DEVICE\HARDDISKVOLUME1\PROGRAMFILES\MOZILLAFIREFOX\FIREFOX.EXETo get rid of the repeat warnings I ran my Norton Antivirus then downloaded and ran TDSSKILLER,SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition and Malwarebytes Free Edition. All the programs found and removed suspicious programs.Today being a bit cautious I did a few general Google Searches and it seems the constant attack warnings had stopped. But then I tried to enter one of my normal sites and it seemed the virus/trogen or whatever it is tried to re-direct me to a Fake App. Again the website and IP address was different than before but once again I recieved this warningTHE ATTACK WAS RESULTED FROM \DEVICE\HARDDISKVOLUME1\PROGRAMFILES\MOZILLAFIREFOX\FIREFOX.EXESo now being something at a loss I would very much appreciate any help you guys at Bleeping Computer can offer. I know other users have had issues with this but I didn't know if I could follow the solutions for their problem or not.

(Not sure what information is helpful so I'll start and the top and be brief)
For my job I am required to sometimes go to 'suspect websites' and normally Norton will catch anything before it even has a chance to download. Sadly, two weeks ago I did download a file called Trojan.Gen (or at least that is what Norton called it). Almost immediately Norton caught and removed all threats but I knew I wasn't going to get off that easy.

For a few days everything seemed fine but shortly after I started seeing attack messages from Norton from \device\harddiskvolume1\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe, the IP and web address changes.

I couldn't tell if it was doing anything to my computer and have since been trying to remove it with no luck with Norton. Now, my web pages are being redirected to either a fake search page or a Pay Per Click page, if I click a link in Google.

Norton and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Free are telling me that they are not detecting anything.

I did read the preparation guide, so I hope I have all the information that is needed.

I want to thank you in advance for any help that I can get and I understand that this is a process. I appreciate your time!
-Eve

Firefox has been freezing up on me, and when I close it down, I get a bluescreen error. It also happens a lot of the time when I close Firefox down normally. This was happening before I updated to the latest version of FF. I am running Windows XP, and have recently started using ZoneAlarm and Avast on my system.

A:Firefox closes = bluescreen error? (Moved for the mozilla/Firefox Forum)

Hi,

Can you give us the error in full that you are getting. Also, I would check and make sure that ZoneAlarm and Avast are allowing FF to connect to the internet.

Cheers!

I have 4 browsers on my computer: Internet Explorer 8, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera. I am trying to listen to some MP3 files on a website, and all of the browsers, except for IE 8, told me to download the Realplayer Plugin. So I did, and when I tried to listen to the MP3 file, Realplayer will automatically enable this "Autoupdate Helper" thing and check for updates. So I let it check for updates, but then it'll say "There are no updates..." and just stop there. The file won't play! I click play again, and the same thing happens.

Internet Explorer is the only browser smart enough to open the MP3 files on the web page using Quicktime (the website actually tells you to use Quicktime to open the files) but it doesn't load the Youtube videos that are embedded on the site. There's a X on the top left corner of the section where the video is suppose to be.

Now I'm stuck! I want to view all the contents on one page with one browser! But none of the browsers will actually work properly!

So the main problem is:

1. The MP3 files won't load in Chrome, Firefox, and Opera using Quicktime.

Chrome is the only browser I use frequently, and the others are basically backup. IS THERE ANY SOLUTION TO THIS!?!?!?

Thanks everyone!

When I open Mozilla via local icons, it will read and load a specific profile. This allows me to use 3.6.13 (..\firefox.exe" -p "FF_3_6_13" -no-remote) and 4.0b9pre (..\firefox.exe" -p "Minefield64" -no-remote) without one interfering with the other. (4.0b9pre is set as default).

When the browser opens via an e-mail or web page hyperlink the profile file is ignored. I can live with it but sometimes I need an add-on I use and it is not running.

Is there a setting I can use to have Mozilla read the profile when opening it from a hyperlink?

A:Mozilla ignores profile when opened via email/web hyperlink

Check your profiles.ini in Notepad it should look somewhat like this:

[General]
StartWithLastProfile=1

[Profile0] <--- FF 3.6 profile
Name=New1112
IsRelative=1
Path=Profiles/j39iqzek.New1112
Default=1

[Profile1] <--- FF4 Profile
Name=FF4
IsRelative=1
Path=Profiles/dgu37doz.FF4
Default=1

Make sure the Default= is present in EACH Block and of course have it point to the profile Block you want to use for those email links

I don't know if my problem is Firefox or WordPress but I thought I'd try here first.
I use WordPress to publish articles and usually copy and paste from the finished article in the Articles forum to WordPress but since I reinstalled Win 7 this no longer works as paste is no longer an option when I right click in WordPress, or at least in the particular part that I need it to. I can, however, do it in Internet Explorer, but images aren't copied over, which they used to be. I've tried all the usual things like clearing the cache, but nothing has worked. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

A:Is this Win 7 or Firefox at fault? Moved from Mozilla/Firefox browsers

Hi,
I am using Win-7 too but I haven't used IE. So my suggestion is to, try another browser for the same purpose and then see the effects (I feel firefox is well suited for the purpose). If you are getting same problems then, you are missing with some features of Win-7 otherwise, it is the website issue.

I Mistakenly Deleted My Mozilla Default Profile Folder (the only one) - I was following someone else's advise regarding a different Mozilla issue in which they said by doing this it would go away, and everyone else had thanked him, so I trusted it, but I didn't back up my bookmarks at the time. It asked me if I was sure that I wanted to delete my profile folder and that it couldn't be undone, but I did - My major bad :(
It happened 11 days ago and I haven't used my computer very much, but have tried using 3 different Data Recovery Software Programs. It still hasn't found and recovered the actual Mozilla Default Profile Folder with all my original bookmarks. I have tried several other routes but no can do. Yesterday, I switched back to Mozilla 2.0, and now in the profiles section there are 3 folders, and one is called wp16zhbp.Default User, but there is no bookmarks.html in there; Yet, it's 212 KB (I think that would be about the size of all my original bookmarks), and it said it was created on July 7th at 3:44 pm, which I believe was around the actual time that I accidentally deleted it. There are also 2 other folders in the Profiles section, and one of them does have a bookmarks.html, but it's new, and not the original one. So far, I have recovered several times what I have thought was my original default profile folder, and have saved them in the other different drives but of course not C drive, and so far, non of them are it.

Maybe the most important question is: Is... Read more
