Certain pages automatically closes..

Q: Certain pages automatically closes..

Hi, I have this problem: Some pages close automatically (before the page gets loaded) when I try to open them. I tried using firefox to open these pages, but the same thing happens. I would click a link, and it would be loading. However, before it finishes loading (new page is still white) the browser/window closes by itself. Currently, if i type the word "sponsor" and press enter to either look up the definition or search the word up, the browser closes. It also happens on certain forum threads and when I'm try to login on a certain website. Can anyone help me get rid of this problem?

A: Certain pages automatically closes..

Heres some things you can try

Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

This could also be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite)
Download / Install / Update / and Run:
Adaware SE check for any updates before running it.
Get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. You can download it at this SITE
To run this tool, install to the hard drive, then open Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Download and install Spybot S&D . Run Spybot and click on the 'Search for Updates' button. Install any updates that are available. Next click on the 'Check for Problems' button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the Fix Selected Problems button. Exit Spybot. If you keep getting the DSO Exploit entries, even after you updated Windows and fixed them, then download the Spybot DSO Exploit Fix and install it over the current Spybot installation.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Download Windows Defender. Update the defintions and run a full scan.

Try uninstalling Myspace and see if that might be the cause...You can always go back.
And, have you run a full system scan with your anti-virus?

My IE browser keeps closing automatically without warning. Sometimes this happens after a couple of minutes, sometimes longer. It doesn't seem to matter what site I'm on. I've restored all my defaults and ran virus scans and still nothing. Any suggestions???

I'm using Windows XP and IE version 6.

Hi,

i have problems with my laptop nec versa p7300, operating system in win vista

i can log onto windows no problem but when i click on anything eg start button...my computer....any documents on the desktop if im lucky my laptop will open it then next second windows automatically close it, sometimes it would not open at all, no error message occurs

even when i put a cd in if i can get a chance to open it a second later it automatically closes, i have done a clean install and reformatted but the same problem occurs, also windows help boxes automatically opens constantly and i cant close that at all

during formatting clean install stage sometimes the laptop restarted automatically over and over again i did disable auto restart on failure but it still restarted.

i can open safe mode but all the same problems occur in safe mode.

are there any suggestions i have tested my ram there is no problem with the ram.....is the problem my graphics card or any other hardware

if anyone can help would appreciate it

thanks

A:automatically closes anything i try to access

Welcome
Certainly sounds like a hardware issue. When you did a clean install, you did include a format?
If yes, its certainly hardware.
Turn off the computer, turn on your speaker, now boot. Do you hear any beeps.
If yes, how many and what type, long, short etc.
If no, try to find your computer manual, it will tell you how to perform diagnostic tests, read and try that method.

Hello allanm123

If you format the drive before reinstalling XP, any traces of malware should be gone.

If you think there is still malware present
Please read ?Virus/Trojan/Spyware Removal Help ? and follow the instructions very carefully; then, post all the requested logs and information in the Virus Help Forum

I get an error message whenever I open certain web pages, and Internet Explorer closes. I get the standard option to report the problem to Microsoft, which I have done repeatedly. (Does this really do ANY good?)

When I have this problem, it's always the same sites over and over again that close. Your site is one of them, so I am trying to do all this from my work computer. Therefore, I don't have my browser version or other stuff like that right now. I am running XP. There are also a handful of sites that close only every once in awhile.

My hijackthis log is below. I use Ad-Aware, Spyware Blaster and SpyBot Search and Destroy pretty regularly, but if you spot anything malicious, tell me how to get rid of it, too. I keep getting stupid popup ads, even though I have the newest security patch of XP that is supposed to prevent that. And they always come from the same site, which is not on my "allowed" list. But I digress.

Hi, I've searched around quite a bit, and I haven't been able to work out what's causing this problem. When windows is running, the taskbar and all of my desktop icons vanish for about five seconds or so, before restarting and staying open for about 15 seconds, then everything disappears again. This repeats indefinitely. In task manager, whenever this "disappearing" happens, explorer.exe is what closes. If I have any windows open (my computer, my documents, etc), they close whenever explorer.exe does, but open applications do not. I tried to do a system restore, but I received the "System Restore was unable to restore your computer to the specified restore point. Select another restore point and try to perform the restoration again" message (I get this message no matter what point I restore to). Now System restore has mysteriously stopped working (the icon has changed to the default when windows doesn't recognise an extension), and when I click it, nothing happens. For what it's worth, task manager never crashes when explorer.exe does.

I've run scans with ad aware and spybot, and this problem still hasn't been resolved. I'm not really sure what to do.

I'm including my DDS logs. Thanks in advance!

Please download HijackThis. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Run a scan and save the log file. Post the whole log file here. Do not fix anything since most of them listed there are harmless (some are system required). This program will help us determine if there is any spyware/malware on your computer.

A:HELP Regedit closes automatically, but not msconfig or anything else!

Ok, I fixed it. Although, I must say I am a bit upset with trend micro. I have kept my AV program up to date always, and I went to their site and ran the online AV program. It said it found and cleaned a virus, but didn't tell me what files were infected, or it just didn't find the files that were. So I ran the online AV program from symantec, it was much slower, but it found the 2 files on my computer that were infected. It turns out I had a program called Winmos.exe loading at startup that was infected, and some other file in my C:\recylcer\nprotect directory that was infected with the Backdoor.Mosuck virus. This virus seems to be at least a year old, my PC isn't that old, how come my AV program didn't find or fix this, but the online program found it right away?

hi,

i've got IE7 on WinXP, and before today, i had no issues with facebook poker.

but this afternoon, after logging into facebook, i tried to click on the texas holdem poker link as usual, and after a few seconds of the page loading, internet explorer just abruptly shut down automatically. i panicked and uninstalled IE7, and then tried the same thing with IE6, but the problem still persisted. i re-installed IE7 and still ended up with the same result.

i also tried other sites with flash and java games, and they worked fine. when i started IE7 without add-ons, i managed to get to the facebook poker page, but naturally, i couldn't see the GUI because the flash add-on was disabled.

what could possibly be the cause? please, can someone, anyone, just sort this out for me?

oh, by the way, if it's any help at all, here's the hijackthis! log:

This has been so frustrating. When I open a folder (usually a desktop folder) after maybe 5-10 minutes the desktop flashs (icons reload) and the folder closes without warning. Very annoying having to reopen time after time while I'm working with the contents in the folder. I have tried virus scans, reset folder options and several other 'suggestions' without any success. Everything else works fine i.e. browser and programs. This has been going on for about 2 weeks. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance.

Try a different browser like Firefox or Opera, see if that solves the problem.Have you tried restarting the pc ?it could be a buggy update from microsoft which is incompatible. If everything else fails rollback to the last known working configuration by pressing F5 during startup.

Hey everyone,

I don't know what is going on but whenever I open Internet Explorer it loads up, said it found the website and then BAM it closes. With msn, straight after I enter my log in details it shuts itself down straight away. I googled but couldn't find anything good so I got Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and ran it. I found out that I had 5 infections (Kaspersky didn't pick these us for some reason..) and it said that it is the Trojan.BHO virus. So I deleted all 5 of them and then the following log popped up:

Hey,

Earlier today, I closed my Opera browser, then tried several times to get it to reopen, but for some reason it wouldn't. When I opened up Task Manager to see what was up, then I realized...it was only staying on the Processes list for one or two seconds before disappearing!

So I went to Firefox (which for some reason was working) and installed Google Chrome. That was successful, but the first time I tried opening it, it had the same issues Opera was having...stayed on the Processes list for one/two seconds, then disappeared.

I could find NO threads similar to mine anywhere...could you help please?

As many people heard recently there was a new exploit which targeted Internet Explorer and Adobe Flash Player, Microsoft put a rush on a new security update to fix the issue. I went to Automatic Updates and it wasn't on the list so I proceeded to download it manually. I installed the security update
IE11-Windows6.1-KB2964358-x86 for Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit with no problems. Once I restarted my computer I clicked to open the browser and instantly a message popped up to close the program. I closed IE and it automatically opened a new tab, once it opened a new tab another message opened telling me that the program is not working and it has to be closed. This happened in an endless loop until I shut down IE entirely. I uninstalled the security update and my IE is working once again.

Any suggestions?

Thank You

Additional info: As I am writing this I also realized that there is a counterpart to this update, IE11-Windows6.1-KB2964444-x86 which I haven't installed yet. Plus I also have a situation where all my old updates reappeared on the update list once I installed SP1.

A:IE 11 Automatically Closes After Current Security Update

I had the update in my Windows Updates. I installed it and no problems.

Sometimes there are other updates required before certain ones can be installed. Its best to wait for the update to show up in your Windows Updates rather than go after them manually.

I also have Firefox browser installed so I used that until the Microsoft I.E.11 fix showed up.

Hello, For the past few days Internet Explorer closes anytime I try to open it after just a few seconds. Typically the page doesn't completely load and I get an error message which says, "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." And it says that an error report has been created. I have tried repairing IE but that did not help. I recently installed CA's Internet Security suite, updated and ran the anti-spyware and anti-virus programs. I also updated and ran Adaware within the past 24 hours. My computer has been running slower and sometimes hangs so that I am forced to reboot. Hello all, I've encountered an interesting problem. I reformated and reinstalled a friends computer (a sony vaio and used the recovery function to restore it to factory settings) and when you have a few folders open, some randomly close. The same thing with internet explorer. They randomly close for no reason, you can be using the computer and the window suddenly closes. It also use to happen before it was restarted. We are running Windows XP.When I start up my account on my computer, I get an error saying Google Installer encountered a problem and had to close. If we go into firefox, and type in a page, the browser often reroutes to another page, such as hxxp://www.physicos.com/search.phpWhen i start up firefox i get a message that asks if i want to make it my default browser. it always was and this is something the bug changed. even if i click yes it asks next time i start firefox.Eventually the browser freezes and the mouse moves around but we can't click anything and have to shut down the computer. I typed most of this from safe mode.If we try to use Internet Explorer (not our usual practice) it simply shuts down after you surf off the homepage. My husband has seen some popups on his account, and the bug installed a bunch of dirty icons on our desktop....THANK YOU TO WHOMEVER HELPS. Hello dreygenfli Welcome to the BC HijackThis Log and Analysis forum. I recently reformatted my hard drive and upgraded to Windows XP. I'm now having problems with Windows Media Player. I've upgraded it to v9 as I thought that may be the problem, but this has not helped.

When ever I try and open and play media (movies I have or even the sample stuff that comes with Media Player), WMP automatically closes with no error message at all.

Can someone tell me why this does this and how to fix the problem?

Thanks,
JRHT

A:(Resolved) Windows Media Player closes automatically

The problem only occurs when I load media, not when I open WMP. My guess is a dodgy codec. I'll try and see if that's the problem.

I have a lenovo U310 touchscreen laptop running Windows 10 (maybe 10.1, whichever is most recent) 64 bit. For the past 2-3 weeks I have had issues with my cursor suddenly seeming "possessed." It will dart around the screen, opening and closing programs, opening dozens of browser windows, clicking on features within programs (e.g., creating new folders, changing fonts via drop down boxes.) It moves so rapidly, I can barely see it, and it makes "touch circles" (those impressions you see when you touch the screen) pop up all over too. It overrides key commands (I think by clicking on other things so quickly) so I've haf to do a hard shut down because I can't even navigate via key or mouse to select to shut down or restart.
Note that this occurs whether I use the trackpad or an external mouse connected via USB. Most often, it seems to occur if I let the computer idle; I'll step away from my desk for a few minutes, and come back to what looks like a computer version of a seizure.
So far I have tried:
* Updating and running Windows Defender, in regular and safe mode. It found nothing. (I have run it repeatedly on the past few weeks.)
*Updating my mouse/touchpad drivers (Windows says they're up to date.)
*Running malwarebytes in regular mode (repeatedly, it found nothing)
* Running rkill, and then malwarebytes in regular mode (nothing)
* I tried running malwarebytes in safe mode today and it had the "seizure" - the clicking seems random, but it succeeded in deselecting the scan repe... Read more

Which OS are you using? Year of release? Have you web-updated it?

Sounds like a virus. That happened to me a few times and it was always a virus. If your OS is out of date you may have some open ports allowing infection to occur every time you hook up to the web, no matter how many residents are turned on.

Have you tried killing processes, or shutting down services if XP, updating the OS, etc.?

Hi,

Recently I have faced several problems:

1. While installing Norton Antivirus 360 V2, computer restart was unsuccessful and I had to to a system restore. Thereafter, there has been repeated failure in installation. Contacted norton and they said that they suspect that the computer is infected. They mentioned that when a computer is infected, installation will fail.
2. For the past few days, the IE keeps coming up with the error message that it is forced to close.
3. I am unprotected at the moment with no antivirus. My previous antivirus Norton Antivirus 360 V1 was uninstalled in the process and cannot be installed again.

I have gone through the five steps however I am unable to run the panda scan as they say that my IE version is uncompatible. It may be because I'm running on the beta version of IE 8 or it may also be due to the virus that blocks the scan. I'm not too sure.

I am unable to access ie-spyad because the funkyfrog website cannot be accessed. not sure if virus is blocking it.

Here's my log:

When searching for answers to my problem, I ran across this thread on this forum from 5/18/05: Multiple issues - Homepage hijack, popups, IE browser closes, blue screen. A moderator went through quite a bit of instructions to fix that problem.

I was wondering if those instructions would work in most cases of similar problems, like mine.

An example of what's happening is Internet Explorer 6 and Netscape 8, both close when I enter my password on ebay and hit ok. I can sign in with Firefox 1.0.4, but when I try to download Turbo Lister, FF closes.

All three close when I try to reach www.marine-atlantic.ca. It starts to load, then BAM! It's gone.

When trying to access Panda to do a scan, all three close when I hit the scan button.

There are numerous other sites that do the same thing. A lot close when I try to enter password protected sites (that I am registered with).

A Trend Micro Housecall scan found nothing.

Ditto for McAfee, MS Ativiru, AdAware SE and Spybot.

McAfee Virus Online Subscription

All assistance is greatly appreciated.

It seems many people are having this issue, but I haven't seen any responses on topics with the same symptoms I have so I decided to post a topic.

I run 64bit Windows 7 and starting a couple of days ago, links I click from google or bing on Google Chrome, Firefox, and IE9 have all been redirecting me to a plethora of random websites, such as scour and others.

When I tried to open Microsoft Security Essentials to scan, I discovered that it wasn't running. Any time I try to open it, the window pops up with a red button (saying that it's turned off) and then automatically closes after a second or less. The Windows Defender and Security Center services had been set to disable, so I started them and made them Automatic.
Only a couple of minutes later, the services were disabled again.

I installed avast! just to have something running and to scan with, but it found nothing.
I've tried running scans in safe mode as well, but both Microsoft Security Essentials and avast! found nothing. I've since uninstalled avast.
I have run the ESET Online Scanner but it hasn't found anything, either. I've run Microsoft Safety Scanner as well, with no results.

I'm not sure if it's related, but starting last week I also have had a notification for Windows Updates and any time I downloaded & installed them, I got an error saying my computer was not updated after restarting.

Here is my DDS log:

Hey Guys,

I'm using the latest version of Firefox, I've encountered a problem which I can't take anymore. When surfing the net for example: start from my home page (page 1), click on to this site (page 2), then I'll click a sub forum (page 3). Once I click back on the browser it goes from (page 3) to (page 1) skipping (page 2). This happens around 50-60% of the time. Or if I have 2 windows open and again if I click back on one browser it will terminate both windows.

This is becoming very annoying, and making it very hard to surf.

I've ran my anti-virus program (AVG), many spyware and adware programs and everything comes back clean. I tried a different browser "Opera" and it also skips pages back as well.

I've searched for info regarding this on google and came up with nothing.

Any help would be great!!

A:Browser skips or closes pages when using the back button

This could be quite normal operation (depending on the web pages you are viewing)

ie Some sites will ONLY allow you to go back to the Main Page when clicking on the Back button (usually to do with Javascripting)

As a good measure, default all settings in Internet Security and any web browser.
But again I think it may be Normal.

I have installed Win XP 2005 (Prfessional) OS in my computer. When i starts my computer, a large number of Internet Explorer pages opens automatically.
I have also remove all the program from the Startup, but it doesn't works.

A:IE Pages Opens Automatically

First thing I suggest is you scan your computer for viruses and spyware. Trendmicro has a free online scan and download spybot and scan your system. Report back with what you find.

It Keeps loading and I can't close them as fast as they are opening. I eventually need to go to task manager and end the program, which is very tricky to get them closed as they are poping up! This happened before I downloaded limwire but have since then deleted it again. It is now happening atleast once a day if not more. Please help!

I notice that there is more than one antivirus program installed on your computer. This is very dangerous, as multiple antivirus programs can interfere with one another and actually allow MORE viruses to get through. When you have more than one antivirus program installed at the same time, they conflict with each other rendering the computer vulnerable or unusable.

It is NOT safe to have more than one anti-virus installed on a system, and doing so not only does NOT provide better protection, it will actually cause additional problems. Anti-virus programs patch into the system kernel. Having more than one anti-virus p... Read more

I have spent weeks trying to number an almost 200 page thesis, to no avail. I have the first several pages with roman numerals and the the rest should be in arabic. At first I thought it might be because of the page break I inserted to change the numbering of the second section. But I just did a "dummy" document, and the only page that is numbering is number 1. None of the others. (I checked in print preview--there are no other numbers there.) This, like so many 2007 things is driving me INSANE. I have wasted more than 40 hours on this, and the idea of manually numbering a 200 page document is not good. PLEASE can someone tell me why it is not automatically numbering? (I have made other numbered documents prior to this. It just started with this particular one.) And now, even the first page, thanks to someone else's sugggestion says {pagemergeformat} instead of 1! I have word 2007, and it says "compatibility mode" even though this is the only program I have ever had on this Toshiba. (had xp on another computer).

Hello,

I just got a new computer and one thing that I noticed is that when I go to a book marked website (a forum type web site in particular), I have to manually refresh the page to see new posts. I didn't have to do this on my old PC, I had an older version of IE but I can't remember which one.

Is there a setting I can change to have it load a fresh page from the book mark?

Thanks in advance!

In IE, go to tools>internet options>general tab.
Click the "settings" button under "temporary internet files".
Under "check for newer versions of stored pages" select "automatically". (default)
If it's still an issue or is already selected, use the "every visit to the page" setting instead.

Hi there, glad to have these forums around to receive help. So i caught this virus roughly a week ago after installing a japanese game (22nd Feb). I believe that while installing there were some advertisement or add on programs that had a tick on it meaning i agreed to install. However i pressed next too fast without even realising what i had installed. I only found out later that i installed a program called something bulldog cant remember the exact name. I immediately uninstalled it. However the problems start to appear. It first gave sign when i opened my google chrome and my homepage was there but there's this web http://search.filebulldog.com/vmn/3B00CC3C6AC7DF98CE38E951263A0E4A opened in a new tab. I immediately knew something was wrong as i have never been to that web and that the name is related to what i have just uninstalled. It also changed the homepage of my internet explorer to that link although i never use explorer to surf the web. Few days later, the matter got worst as google chrome being my default browser opened automatically by itself and at a rate of 5 pages per second for roughly 5 minutes. It also happens at random times between random intervals of 3-8 hours and just few hours ago it happened thrice in a row. I couldn't do anything about it except to cancel as fast as it opens and all of them were directing to that link. However i did tried to solve this matter myself for 3 days now but the problem persist.(my paid antivirus expired thus i didn't have a... Read more

Hi,
Since last night when I was searching for a TV link for the Spurs game my PC keeps opening chinese pages automatically. My homepage had been reset to www.sha123.com and the page that keeps opening now is removed.
I also had a google style toolbar [in chinese]appear and new chinese description option in my internet options and programs.
I have unticked all the chinese options in internet options.
I ran AVG free edition, spybot and adaware. Adaware found a lot of problems and after fixing it said 4 items could not be removed without a reboot. I rebooted and ran adaware again but it did not find the problems again!
I have also tried a system restore to several points before last night but it just keeps saying cannot restore to that point.
Any help would be appreciated,

Regards,
Alan

I have never posted on a forum for help before ever...I am not too computer savvy as you guys and I desperately need help. About a month ago I believe that I have gotten spyware on my computer. I use firefox as my only browser. When I go to search for something in yahoo, i click on a link and it takes me to a completely different site. Sometimes while i'm on a site another browser tab opens up too. I have tried using rkill, SAS, Malware bytes, in normal mode and safe mode. I have Windows XP. Also once overnight, I woke up to my computer on a blue screen which said something about a physical memory dump. I restarted my computer and everything was still there...not sure what that means either.Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks a million.DDS (Ver_10-03-17.01) - NTFSx86Run by Deb & Greg at 19:50:51.46 on Sat 07/17/2010Internet Explorer: 8.0.6001.18702 BrowserJavaVersion: 1.6.0_20Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600.3.1252.1.1033.18.1022.206 [GMT -4:00]AV: McAfee VirusScan *On-access scanning enabled* (Updated) {84B5EE75-6421-4CDE-A33A-DD43BA9FAD83}FW: McAfee Personal Firewall *enabled* {94894B63-8C7F-4050-BDA4-813CA00DA3E8}============== Running Processes ===============C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost -k DcomLaunchsvchost.exeC:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MsMpEng.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcssvchost.exesvchost.exeC:\Program Files\... Hi. For the past two months, I've failed in finding the culprit in this seemingly strange problem. Everytime I browse using Firefox, somehow, some thing is redirecting things that I click to spam pages, and it does it randomly. Sometimes I get lucky and it lands on the intended page, but most of the time, upon clicking a link, the address changes to the link and after a couple of seconds will redirect it somewhere.

Then, there are also times that the browser just automatically opens a new tab of a spam page.

I've tried scanning using Avira and AVG but can't seem to find anything wrong. I've restored the operating system (Windows XP) several times but nothing changed.

Hi there,

I'm really sorry if i've posted in the wrong forum, but i can't click on anything that has the word Virus or Hijack this, as it will just close automatically.
Which means i can't run the Hijack this log, nor run my virus scans on the computer.

I am too afraid to log into my email accounts and bank accounts in case there is some spyware on my computer.

I've tried running Stinger.exe and all my anti virus in safemode but it doesn't seem to do the trick.

I am not sure what i can do.
Can anyone advise?
Many thanks.
Lamfeng

Try renaming HijackThis. After that, you should be able to open it.

Hi,

I've been searching for most parts of the net and the forums here and did install/uninstall/restore my notepad, paint and wordpad but nothing seems to work.

When these files are opened, nothing seems to be a problem. But whenever you attempt to save by Ctrl+S, or the by clicking File>Save or File>Save As the program automatically closes. This has been a consistent behavior for the 3 softwares.

I'm using Windows XP 64 bit OS and had no error messages of any sort except that these programs just close themselves when a save attempt is done.

I did virus and malware scans by Avast, ESET Nod & Kaspersky and nothing was detected.

Reinstalling isn't an option for me now as I don't have any optical drive... besides, this may be very hard for me but I'm willing to suffer for the sake of learning.

I'd really appreciate your inputs on this matter.
Thanks for all ideas and help ahead!

A:Notepad, Wordpad, Paint automatically closes whenever save or save as is selected.

How did you uninstall/reinstall the programs without the CD? They're part of the system.

Firefox is frequently redirecting Google searches to different web searches and occasionally opening up random web pages while the browser is open. I've run Spybot S&D, Lavasoft's Ad-aware, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, and Spyware Doctor with no change in the behavior. I also did everything in the "Slow Computer/browser? Check Here First; It May Not Be Malware" post (even though that's not really a solution to my problem). I've also followed the Preparation Guide for posting as well. Well this is something I've never seen happen before. I'm looking over a website (not any particular one) and then all of a sudden that page switches over to my Yahoo mail homepage. At first I thought that maybe I had hit a key on my keyboard or maybe clicked my mouse by accident, but low and behold a little while later I was walking back towards my computer from getting a soda and it did it again. I wasn't even sitting at my computer desk this time!! So either Casper has decided to take up residency in my computer or something has slipped through all of my spyware prevention programs.

I've also noticed that when I'm in Yahoo mail and click on a link within, instead of going to that site I clicked on the new window is my Yahoo mail homepage. What the heck is that about? I don't know if it's an email issue, IE issue, ISP issue or what. I'm starting to get a little suspicious of my ISP because they are always downloading updates on my computer (without asking for approval) and it's always switching my default email application from Yahoo back to Earthlink Mail. I'm still pretty perturbed about not being able to completely disable their pop-up blocker so if this is something that has come from them they will shortly be finding themselves kicked to the curb!

I did happen to see that just before the page switches to the Yahoo mail homepage I see down on the lower left of the status bar I see "A pop up window has been blocke... Read more

A:Solved: Pages automatically switching to Yahoo mail homepage

Hi Wendy

This is a problem with Yahoo Messenger and all the stuff that it installs with it.

What you need to do is uninstall Yahoo Messenger. Then follow these steps to get back to normal.

Once uninstalled, Right click the Start Button and select Explore. On the folders on the left click into Program Files, then on the right of the window look for the Yahoo folder, right click it and select delete.

Download Registry Mechanic which will clean out any entries of Yahoo from here: http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/download/ (its a free trial but works for what we need to fix your problem) and run it.

Once done, go to http://messenger.yahoo.com and download Yahoo Messenger, but dont select the options for default home page or toolbar, Only Yahoo Messenger and Yahoo Extras. You can set the toolbar and homepage later (shown below).

Once reinstalled, all should be ok.

If you want the toolbar back, download it from: http://www.yahoo.com/_ylh=X3oDMTB2MXQ5MTU3BF9TAzI3MTYxNDkEdGVzdAMwBHRtcGwDaW5kZXgtaWU-/r/tb

To add yahoo as your default page, open Explorer or whatever Browser your using and go to the page you want, Click Tools > Internet Options and under homepage click Use Current, Click apply then ok (for IE Only)

If you get stuck, PM me or let us know here.

Hope this helps.

Is there a way to make IE8 automatically refresh web pages when pressing the back button. I can't seem to make IE8 do this, even though in IE8 > Tools > Internet Options > Browsing History > Settings, I have "check for newer versions of stored web pages" set to "automatically"

Anyone else have this problem?

A:In Vista, IE8 doesn't refresh web pages automatically when back button is hit

Hi badweather,

If set to Automatically, it will not refresh a previously visited page from the Back-function. As it's set to store the information that you've recently viewed. You need to set it up as below if you want to use this: (Note that this does indeed make the browser check for a new version every time, on a slow internet connection, this will cause extra loadtime)

Hi,

I use Google Chrome, Windows 8. Here are my issues:
- My webpages continue to have the loading circle even when the pages have already fully loaded.
- Sometimes, when I click on the log in button on websites, I'll be redirected to a site (myadexchange)
- PCUtilities Driver Pro keeps reinstalling itself even though I have uninstalled it several times
- My internet usage gets chewed up really quickly!
- not sure if this is related or a google problem, but I can't open my emails in gmail unless I'm in html mode. I also can't open any google docs.

Hope you guys can help. I've tried malwarebytes and it quarantined a lot of PUPs, but the problems have returned and go undetected by malwarebytes. I used FRST for the log since DSS wasn't compatible.

I've had this problem for about a month now and its driving me insane! Basically, no matter which browser I use, the same thing happens. With firefox, I get a bunch of windows that open up at the same time, and while browsing (when tolerable), the tab I'm on refreshes itself and goes to the default page, forcing me to constantly press the back button. Also, let's say Im on google, as I start typing on the search bar, suddenly it acts as if I had clicked on something else, so whatever I type doesn't appear, or even goes off somewhere else... This also happens with chrome & even IE. I've tried Malwarebytes, spybot s&d & even a clean reinstall. I've currently got Bit defender installed & yet no avail. heeelp.

ps. not so much of a techie but I can work my way around it & can follow step by step instructions.
Also, I've also noticed that the cooling fan kicks on high every few minutes even after the "clean install" shortly after boot. ALSO*** My pc is a pavilion dv6 intel core i5 w/ 6gb ram...barely a year old..so im guessing this is also bc of the infection..

In an attempt to work this out myself, I updated my java and adobe flash shockwave to it's newest settings. But yeah.... this is where I'm at. Any help would be awesome.
I don't think this is a graphic card issue, as this is actually happening on all my computers.

I'm using the most current up to date firefox.
