Have you tried updating your graphics drivers via the manufactures website?

Could you give us your full system specs so we can see what we are working with. If you are unsure what your specs are, download and run Speccy, then when it's generated the information (about 10 seconds) go File>Save Snapshot, and attach that .speccy file as well. (You will need to zip it to attach it here: Right click on it and select 'Send To'>'Compressed (zipped) Folder'.

How is the screen when viewing streaming media like YouTube videos? When did you first notice this to start happening? Was it after installing another program?

Have managed, with your kind help, to scroll and print an article from a newspaper, but cannot finish the job when trying to scroll a tip from an online tutorial. It's not because of copyright, am sure of that. It's just a problem of navigation. The selected text for scrolling does not occupy the whole of the monitor, and if I delete the unwanted part of the page, I find that the Fast Stone Capture tool will not open. Hence, I am unable to access the down-arrow in the FastStone System Tray to start the scrolling procedure.Another problem:  how to shift the text from one side to the other on the monitor when the text is truncated on the left or the right side? I used to get two small arrows in either corner of the page todo this, but they have vanished altogether. Can you kindly help, please?  I am very thankful.Guzeppi

I am currently experiencing a problem that is driving me nuts. Whenever I go to a web page on Chrome, and reading it, the browser will suddenly jump (scroll) to the bottom of the page. It does this un-commanded. It does this without me touching either the mouse, nor the laptop surface. The laptop is a Lenovo Y580. It makes it almost impossible to read a webpage without using my mouse to go back to where I was reading. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your assistance.

Since you re-installed Windows, you will have to re-install all the drivers for the PC. These can be found on the CD that originally came with the PC, or online.

Can you please run Everest, which a link to download that program is in my signature and post your System specs? Also, go into device manager (Right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager) and post anything with a yellow question mark or exclamation point by it.

A:Web Page Capture

Most browsers allow you to save an entire webpage using the "Save As" option.
If you mean that you want a screenshot of the entire page then you'd need a browser addon. If you use Firefox, Opera or Chrome you can use Nimbus Screen Capture to save an entire webpage as an image (even the parts of the page that you can't see unless you scroll down)

Nimbus Screenshot Capture for Chrome of Firefox: Nimbus - Nimbus Screenshot

For Opera version - it depends which version of Opera is being used.

Now, it stopped doing it and i cannot find where to enable it again or what or how i disabled it. hopefully i made sense i wouldn't know what to call it. any help would be appreciated and if this is in the wrong spot I'm terribly sorry. thank you

I work for a company that does litigation support. I have a client who needs to capture an entire website.

I am not a computer expert, but do know my way around the keyboard. Im trying to find something relativly inexpensive and relitivly easy to use. I would appreciate any input or advice since I really dont know where to start looking (beside a generic google search)

I need to capture the whole site that does have video on it, links etc.

Thanks everyone.

A:Web page capture software

The way your request is worded it implies you want to copy a website's entire database. That implies copyright violation. According to the forum rules we will not discuss methods to copy an entire site. Since you are familiar with litigation, obtain a court order and have the web hosting company copy the database for you.

I have a scrolling mouse and just installed windows xp. I was using 98se. I'll explain this is the best way I can but the webpages in 98 would move up and down with no apparent page movement. Now in xp, the pages seem to roll like a wave when you move the page up and down. It's very annoying and I wanted to know if it's possible to change that.

Also, is Office 2000 professional compatible with xp?

Hi Guys. Have a problem with the web page sticking whilst trying to scroll. Occasionally the scroll wheel just does not work (well it physically works but the page doesn't) and then the scrolled page 'catches up with itself' if you know what I mean. I have tried a different mouse with no joy. The same thing occurs when say just typing this the letters seem to freeze after I have typed and then catch up in a hurry as if there is some built in delay. I have seriously checked for spyware and other nasties and I keep my computer very clean. Running Windows XP and firefox. I have reinstalled firefox to an earlier version but still does not make any difference. I have downloaded the latest video drivers and set the screen to the max of 75Mz. The task manager says the cpu is only at just over 0% when this happens and the hard drive light is not flashing at all.

While I have been typing this it has 'frozen' for a few seconds on 3 occasions - looks like it is inbuilt. Apart from a rather drastic clean reinstall of XP I cannot think of anything else ..

Please anyone got any clues for me
Regards
Michael

Any ideas?

A:Automatic Web Page Capture - does it exist

There is no way to do what you are describing legally.
You can take screen shots of a website your self manually.
But, there is no program that can log on a website automactically.
Those type of programs are called 'robots' they are illlegal, and most wesbites block them for security issues.

But, Good Luck with what you are trying to do.

Seems really weird, has mostly been an annoyance until today when I noticed it even selecting fields on a contact form. Hey everyone, I just got home from school and logged onto my computer and for some reason when I scroll up or down a web page (using either Mozilla or IE) it seems choppy.

I know that's not a very good description but that's all I can think of. I noticed it when I clicked in on the middle mouse button to bring up those arrows that allow me to scroll by holding the mouse either above or below the respective arrow. Before when I would scroll (before as in last night) everything would be smooth. The only things that I can think of that I installed recently are Adware SE Pro, Registry Mechanic, Spyware Blaster, and PCAnywhere (which I deleted right after installing). Could any of these be the culprit?

If you need a better description of what I mean by "choppy" scrolling let me know and I will try to elaborate better.

Oh yeah, I also started an O&O Defrag last night before bed which was still running this morning. I stopped the defrag and was planning on continuing it tonight so I don't know if this could also be a problem. I've stopped defrags midway through before with no problems.

Thanks for the help!

I am using a regular dell mouse. No logitech setpoint, no other advanced settings, and a fresh image. Happens on all browsers, IE, FFox, and chrome.

Don't like it, would prefer the bullets & thumbnails don't auto scroll so I can look at them

Anyway to eliminate that auto scrolling?

And, BTW, how in the heck can I shut off that lame "Ian" cartoon thing on the right side

I'm using an external monitor that scales at 100% (1440p 32"). The internal monitor is 4K, so scales at 250%. In a day I might need to plug and unplug the external monitor (from HDMI port) several times, and after a few times, it seems to struggle with switching between the scaling of external and internal monitors. On Chrome, for example, scrolling sometimes is noticeably lagging, and new pages will flash multiple times as they are loading. Moving Chrome over to the internal monitor (with 250% scaling) and everything seems to work fine. Restarting Chrome doesn't change the issue. A whole reboot is necessary.
I would guess it's a driver issue. I also have light screen flickering, though I only notice it when not using the external monitor.

I think this question has been kicked around before, I just don't remember what the answer was or how to query the search base here for it.

I'm going to move this to the All other Software forum, since it is really a Windows Media Player, not an XP question; I will edit the topic also.

Perhaps one of the denizens there will recall this one.

Here's one I remember: try IrfanView, it worked when I tested it.

I use Snagit V8.1.0 and have done so successfully for many years. Now on Windows 10 whre it has always worked fine up to now.

Suddenly, whenever I click on the capture button my entire screen goes black. Therefore I can't see anything to capture!

I have also tried this with Screenshot Captor and the same thing happens.

I am not aware of changing any settings.

Hello all!
Ever since I joined the HJT Training Program, I have been longing for a good screen capture program. Yes, I know I can use Shift+PrintScrn and paste it into paint, but when you make screenshots regularly, that is kind of a pain.

Another thing that would be nice would be video capture of the display, but in such a way that would be easy to dump on youtube.

The only program that I have found is FRAPS, which does much more than I need, and is $100, which I am not prepared to spend on a image capture program.

Oh, and I'm on Vista Ultimate 32Bit.

Hi,
Does anyone know of a reliable freeware to capture text off the screen?
I transferred PrtScn image to Acrobat 7 pro and tried to do OCR on the image (Document->Recognize text using OCR), but it tells me it cannot be done since it needs a minimum resolution of 144 dpi.
Thanks,

A:Screen capture with OCR

The only freeware OCR that I know of is SimpleOCR, but you get what you pay for, it's not very good. One that is fairly cheap ($30) and much better is On Screen OCR. You can download a 21 day free trial if you want to try it out. One that is very good but costs $50 is ABBYY ScanTo Office. The prices go up from there.

When pasting into a gmail "compose" a screenshot that I didn't take pasted, as if I took the screen shot and pasted it myself. I was trying to paste text I had just copied. It occured over and over for some time before retuning to normal paste. Most alarming is that the screenshot was of when KeePass was open and it was included in the screenshot although no passwords were visible. The two DDS files are attached.

I need a screen capture app, or method, that will allow me to capture things like context menus that go away as soon as you press another key. For instance if I click a drop down, then go to do a screen capture by hitting Alt, it goes away.

A:Screen capture app

You can use the Snipping tool:

Open the Snipping Tool.

Click Cancel but, don?t close the tool.

Next open the menu you want to capture.

With that menu open press Ctrl and Print Screen .

Then use the snipping tool like you normally would and click and drag over the menu you want to capture.

Those of you who have used some of my tutorials know that I like to make tutorials in videos. So I was wondering how I could do that in Windows8. There are two screen capture programs I usually use of which one worked perfectly. The other one had a little problem which I will try to clarify with the owner of the program.

Here is the . Watching it directly from there usually works better than watching it from the embedded screen and it allows you to run the video full screen which does not seem to work with the embedded link.

Here is the link to the screen capture program I used for those who want to try it: http://www.microsoft.com/expression/..._Overview.aspx

I am doing documentation for my Help Desk at work, and it would be helpful to be able to do some screen captures.

I know that Ctrl+Print Screen will capture the whole screen and that Alt+Print Screen will capture the active most forward window. Here is my problem:

Many of the screens I wish to capture involve right clicking or displaying a menu-item. It is very, very difficult to do Ctrl+Print Screen or Alt+Print Screen while holding and clicking with a mouse (my Print Screen key on this keyboard is way over above my numeric pad and I have small hands). Does anyone know of any shortcuts or ways to do this that don't involve me needing three hands?

(Please don't recommend freeware or shareware programs for me to use. Such things are not permissible on the company PCs and require approval for download and installation. While I can get such approval, I'd rather not have to jump through those hoops if it isn't 100% necessary. Also, being a small business, most of the freeware/shareware licenses require commercial purchase for commercial use anyway.)

I don't get it TechGirl. Can't you get the menu, then when you have it, alt/printsceen? I'm not sure I understand your problem. Are you saying you have to hold a mouse button down? That's weird. Just display the menu with the mouse and turn loose of it, then alt/printscreen. Oops, shouldn't that be Ctrl/printscreen?

Screen capture software, such as what is built in with Windows of "snipping tool"....... what do you use and what do you like about it?

Free, opensource, paid, etc. Doesn't matter, explain why you like what you use.

Anyone aware of anything where you can CTRL + C and then CTRL + P into a Windows Explorer folder and it will create a PNG or JPG file and then you simply rename it?

A:Screen Capture - What do you use?

Windows + PrintScreen = full screen, Alt + PrintScreen = current window

Aside from that if I need something specific I'll just capture it all then crop it down after pasting it into Paint or Paint Shop Pro 7.04 'cause it's fast and I can do it in a few seconds start to finish. I know what the snipping tool is and I have honestly never used it, not once.

I can't imagine using a third party application just to do a screen capture when that functionality has been built-in for so long it's not even funny.

Hi, I have been having problems on my Windows 7 Pro 64 desktop computer. It started recently to scroll on its own. I am a bit familiar with computers, but not a pro yet. I did make some changes to my computer about a month ago. This scrolling started three months ago, but not as bad as tonight ;-( It started to do the scrolling on its own really bad. The changes I made to my computer was that I was trying to download apache for windows 7 about a month ago. I couldn't seem to do it, so I deleted the apache. I believe I did not correctly, because after that, I couldn't have administrative rights. I had to do a restart point. My computer acted normally until tonight. Now, it is doing that scrolling thing really bad. I have checked to see if there were any viruses using MacAvee, & Microsoft Essentials, none to date.

A:Screen Scrolling On Its Own On Desktop

When it starts scrolling, what happens if you unplug the mouse? You could try the same test with the keyboard.

When you say you "deleted" Apache, do you mean you actually deleted the folder, or did you (properly) uninstall Apache using the Remove Programs utility in Control Panel?

As I don't use Vista myself I'll try and describe the problem as best I can.

Dad says that when he opens his document folder the right scroll bar goes down to the bottom of the screen! If he tries to scroll back up it automatically scrolls back down again! At first I thought that the scroll lock was on but it isn't.

All applications etc are working ok which makes me think there is possibly some setting which needs changing.

My father-in-lawís Presario 1500 laptop was having severe problems, so we sent it in and they replaced the hard drive.

After receiving the computer back it seems to be running better, but it does not have smooth screen scrolling neither on the Internet nor in any programs. It tends to jump sections at a time and is driving my FIL crazy!

I tried change the scroll speed of the mouse, didnít help

I have already tried going to Tools > Internet Options > General Tab > Accesibility, and uncheck "Format Documents Using My Style Sheet" (that box was already blank)

I also tried ... Internet options -> click the Advanced tab, then scroll down and make sure 'Use smooth scrolling' is checked. (that box was checked)

I then tried to make sure my driver was updated, but it will not install it and keeps coming up with an error message ATI Technologies Inc. display software update released on March 30 2003 > No Updates Were Installed. The following items failed to install. To try installing them again, click Review and install updates, and then click Install Now again.

Lastly, the computer was doing it before I even did any of the Windows Updates, so I donít think it was that either.

Any suggestions??

I want to be able to cature on screen activity in video format.

I've looked at Debute, which is free but it froze my system and I've never had a freeze before ever!

I've looked at Camasta which is a bit too pricey. But would consider it depending on feedback.

Would like to hear from users who use Video Capture on a regular basis and their thoughts on the programs they use.

There's quite a few choices out there when I do a Google search.

Hi all
I was just wondering if there was anyway of preventing people from capturing a screen image..

You can disable the mouse context menu (normally the right mouse click - or left if you've swapped the default mouse options) on an image to stop people from downloading it but I don't think you can prevent anybody from using the PRT SCR button or programs like snagit or the snipping tool to capture an image.

I'd like to do this since I want to issue some powerpoint lecture notes containing some pictures of propietary material which can be publicly viewed -- but I don't want these pics to be copied and possibly appear on other web sites.

Some type of internal "scambling" or encryption software would be great so that even if one did capture the screen via PRT SCR then on inserting the capture into another document it would just come out as garbled.

Any ideas anyone or is this just not possible.

(Of course the old fashioned way of actually taking a photo of the screen would always overcome any software scrambling / encryption or even using the screen capture on a Linux host machine running a Window Guest Virtual machine in "Windowed mode" - but I'm not worried about that type of attack - if people think of that type of "get around" then they are sophisticated enough to copy the documents anyway).

Cheers
jimbo
