Error 1075 and 126 for all services cannot start after virus removal and ad-aware

Q: Error 1075 and 126 for all services cannot start after virus removal and ad-aware

I had a virus that would not allow me to get any icons, this was fixed after i ran avg in safe mode.

When i got back into the machine I received many pop ups one after another, ad-aware was run and after I cannot start any services, I have everything set to start in msconfig i have admin I cant change users, i cant do windows search, cant see any networks in network places nothing i cant even copy and paste the paste option is Grey when i try to copy then paste...

Every service I try to start i get error 1075 dependency service does not exist for all services.

also the Extended services tab give me nothing not list of any services only the standard tab.. I can click start and i get the error.

also Ad-aware gives me an error too when it tries to start system error 1810 has occurred service is not online.

Maybe i need to do a system restore i hope i don't lose all the pictures etc.. I cant copy and paste and its a laptop so i would need an adapter to put it on a desktop.. i think i will be OK with a system restore.

After a Trojan attack, I used Kaspersky Virus Remover to remove them. It seems to have been successful, but now I can't access the internet.

Hello,

On July 12th 2012, my computer installed updates. After rebooting and waiting for me on the login screen, I gave it a hard shutdown to check on the BIOS settings (for a little side project, in the end I did not save any changes). After booting and logging in again, I find that many services are not running. I ran a very thorough check for malware and viruses (took over 24 hours to complete), and still no solutions. I have uninstalled/reinstalled my Broadcom 802.11g Wireless Driver several times.
I now look in the Event Viewer and find that the DHCP Client service is not running! It is set to automatic start in Services.msc, but when I try to manually start it, it gives me error 1075 (some dependencies do not exist or are marked for deletion). Running ipconfig, I notice that my system is using an APIPA-formatted address (169.254.x.x), indicating that the computer couldn't find a DHCP server.

My Event Viewer is peppered with:

How to Flush DNS in Windows Using the Command Prompt

Step 1 ? Close all open web browsers and applications on your computer.

Step 2 ? Open the Windows command prompt by selecting the ?Start? menu and then go all programs, accessories, then right click command and run as admin.

Step 3 ? At the command prompt, enter ?ipconfig /flushdns? followed by pressing the ?enter? key. After a moment, Windows will display a message similar to: ?Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.? Once the message is displayed, the DNS will be flushed removing all incorrect entries.

Then , we want to get the IP reset, so, lets renew its settings and see if this also helps out :
you will type in the command box : ipconfig /release then enter, then next ipconfig /renew then enter, this will reset the IP , now restart and attempt to have it reconfigure its connections to your router. Post back results please.

Hey Everyone.

Maybe someone could be of help. I have gone through several different forums and have attempted several ways to try to fix this but have had no luck.

I have tried the netsch winsock reset
I have tried the ipconfig /renew
My DNS service starts but my dchp client doesnt want to and gives me the error 1075.
I have removed NAV still nothing.

I have also tried many other alternatives but im just not remembering at the moment and I am just stumped.

Internet works on my other two computers, but my laptop is what seems to not want to connect wirelessly or routed. Something seems to be blocked or missing.

If anyone can please help me in any way possible it would greatly be appreciated. If you need me to provide some more details please let me know.

Can someone help me stop this from happening. At startup after reaching the desktop error messages pop up. The messages all say the same thing, "couldn't find path/file". They aren't anything that I recognize. I just removed a bunch of spyware/viruses, nothing is showing up with the AVG and SAS scan. Yet these .dll files are trying to launch at startup. The .dll files are:

elgpnxel.dll
wfszsjsv.dll
bfugfcbp.dll

Any help with this matter would be appreciated.

A:Error Dialog At Start Up After Virus/spyware Removal

This is not an uncommon occurance after malware removal. Windows is trying to run the program but iywas the malware that is now removed. So now you have a broken path to those dll's. You need to remove this registry entry so Windows stops searching for the file when it loads. Using this tool should clear that up.Please download Autoruns, search for the related entry and then delete it.Create a new folder on your hard drive called AutoRuns (C:\AutoRuns) and extract (unzip) the file there. (click HERE if you're not sure how to do this.)Open the folder and double-click on autoruns.exe to launch it.Please be patient as it scans and populates the entries. When done scanning, it will say Ready at the bottom.Scroll through the list and look for a startup entry related to the file(s) in the error message.Right-click on the entry and choose delete.Reboot your computer and see if the startup error returns.

start>control panel>administrative Tasks>Services

So I went there after some suggestions by some members on here, and tried to turn a few programs automatic(not the delayed start) but when I tried to start some of them, I got this message:

Error 1068: the dependency service or group failed to start

So is there a way to fix this?

A:Error 1068 failed to start when trying to start services

Yes, possibly possible! What are the names of the services you are dealing with?

Double click the service - go to the "Dependencies" tab - Check the service names list under "This service depends on the following system components" and then make sure that all the services listed there are already started.

For example, if you're trying to start a service which has dependency on "Windows firewall" service, you need to first make sure Windows firewall service is STARTED.

Hello all,

I've noticed that a few people have posted concerning this topic, so I've tried to read up on as many possible solutions before posting. I'm recently recovering from a mild virus infection on my computer, and noticed that after I had run Avast! and Malwarebytes to remove the virus, my computer lost its internet functionality. Upon running ipconfig in command prompt, I noticed that the computer was not being assigned an IP address, which lead me to believe there could be an issue with DHCP.

When running services.msc, I notice that both DHCP client and TCP/IP netbios are not running, and when I try to run them, I get an error 1075, that the files are "either non-existent or marked for deletion". I noticed that someone else had posted a very similar problem, but a few of the more advanced fixes seemed specifically tailored for their issue.

Below are the fixes I've attempted thus far -

1. Checked the registry for DHCP?s dependencies (3 are listed, Afd, Tcpip, and NetBT).
2. Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults by typing ?netsh int ip reset reset.log? into command prompt.
3. Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults by typing ?netsh winsock reset catalog? into command prompt.
4. Ran ?sfc /scannow? with an XP SP3 CD.

I'm currently running Windows XP Media Center, Service Pack 3 on a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop I had purchased in mid-2006.

Hi thanks for any help you can give.
Machine is a Dell dimension e520
Win XP Media center edition SP 2

I have the original dell discs and access to a working laptop also running win XP [this one]

During a routine virus scan by avira anti vir it quarentined c:\windowes\system32\drivers\netby.sys.

This disabled the DHCP client so no IP traffic
I restored the file but still no luck

After trying to renew the IP and some searching around I found that the HKEY local machine system currentcontrolset services NETbt registry key is missing

In services DHCP cannot be restarted --gives the warning above.
AFD and TCP/IP are in device manager -non plug & play show hidden devices NETbt is not

Can the registry be repaired from the original discs without having to reinstall everything else?
Or is it as easy as inserting the missing registry key?

Thanks Bob

DHCP and TCP/IP can not be started from Services with out the following error.

Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion.

I've checked the dependencies and all are running.

AFD is the only driver common to both DHCP and TCP/IP so I assumed it is either not running or is corrupt..yet when I try to start AFD from the CMD prompt I get...."service is already running.

I have since disabled my Lan Connection via Network Connections as it just sits there trying to acquire ip without ever timing out.

I also performed a registry scan with Registry Booster in Safe Mode. It reported:

1061 System Errors
205 User Errors, and
1 Third Party Error

A cursory review of the log tells me the majority have to do with poorly uninstalled programs. I did NOT let Registry Booster fix anything.

The full message is error 1075: The dependancy service either does not exist or has been marked for deletion

This started with a tidserv!inf infection. Norton End-Point seems to have deleted all related virus infections, however, I am now unable to start the DHCP service. I have to set a static IP in order to connect to the internet.

I believe tdx.dll was identified as a virus and deleted. it was listed as a dependancy of dhcp but had no descriptor. Currently it is not listed as a dependancy.

I cannot view network shares from this PC nor can I view shares that I host here on other PC's. Only this computer shows up in net places.

I did an sfc /scannow and it told me audiodev.dll and mofd.dll were corrupted and the files in the store have been corrupted.

I had to take ownership with the admin group in order to replace them with extracted copies from my windows cd, but I when I went back to reassign trustedinstaller as the owner it was not listed as an option.

my cd is without service pack and my installed service pack is sp2.

I have read through the original thread (now closed) and tried all it's suggestions. However, I am still having the same IP (on lack of) issues. I ended my efforts with the running of SFC /SCANNOW which took a considerable amount of time, but resulted in no errors of any kind.

I continue to get the Error 1075: the dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion, message when trying to start the DHCP Client.

I'm afraid searching the suggested logs for the dependency items it a little over my head.

A little background for my situation. The computer in question is my teenage daughters. A week ago she started having problems with the internet and I'm assuming this is some sort of virus. Whenever selecting a website to launch to, something intervenes and chooses some alternate website. Never the same one twice. I loaded AVAST free version and did a scan. I also updated Malware Bytes and did another scan. I then loaded Kaspersky TDDS killer and did a scan with that. After all that, and roughly 15 files quarantined and deleted, I now have this IP problem. I cannot restore the computer back to an earlier time.

Help would be greatly appreciated!

Need help solving Error #1075 problem in conjunction with CheckPoint VPN NGX R60 HFA3. I am using a Dell E6510 laptop computer running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit OS. I can get this VPN to run and connect when I use Microsoft's XP virtual machine sitting on the Windows 7 desktop but I cannot get it to run on the Windows 7 desktop by itself.

Although the VPN seems to load without incident the associated icon "key" does not appear in the notification tray at the lower right. It does appear in the XP virtual machine and on a separate HP desk top running Vista.

When I type services.msc at the Win 7 command prompt I get a list of all the loaded services including the CheckPoint VPN. It is at this point when I try to start the VPN I get the 1075 error. When I check the dependencies under the VPN I find the "CheckPoint Office Mode Module" and the "VPN-1 Module".

How do I determine if these dependencies are causing the 1075 error message? What steps do I need to take to resolve the error message so the VPN will start?

Greetings,
I am having a major DHCP error on my girlfriend's laptop. I am primarily a Linux user so I'm kinda lost here as her machine is running XP. It's a Dell XPS M1210 which, conveniently, did not come with a recovery CD or even partition.
Anyway, a few weeks ago her wireless network device stopped working. It would look like it was connecting, but it would hang on "Acquiring network address." At first I thought maybe the device was shot, until I had the chance to test out the wired ethernet, which has the same problem.
After quite a bit of googling, I ran services.msc, and saw that DHCP is not running. When I try to start it from that menu, however, I get this message: "Could not start the DHCP Client service on Local computer. Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion."
After more googling, I discovered that DHCP has only 3 dependencies: TCP/IP, AFD, and NetBt. I checked the registry, and those were the only ones listed.
After even more googling, I ran devmgmt.msc and selected "show hidden devices" and double clicked on "non plug and play devices." I TCP/IP and AFD are both there. NetBt, however, is not.
I've spent hours doing further googling and tried pretty much every fix I could find and nothing seems to work. If the PC had shipped with a recovery CD I imagine this would be easy to fix but alas no luck. I need to get this working so I can set up my new internets and I... Read more

DHCP Client will not start from services menu and neither will TCP/IP all other networking services appear to be started and working.

DHCP dependencies are:

AFD Networking Support Environment
TCP/IP Protocol
IPSEC driver
TCP/IP dependencies are:
AFD

Since the TCP/IP's only dependency is AFD I suspect it has been deleted or corrupted. How do I go about fixing that?

I recently cleaned most of a fairly large infection involving Vundo, XP AntiVirus, and a couple others. Most of them attempted to download other viruses, so it multiplied quickly. So I don't know which one caused it exactly, but it shut down the ability to start services for AV programs I tried to reinstall (Windows Defender and PCTools Spyware).

The HiJackThis log probably won't show much. The only remaining threat seems to be the Fvijaa.exe process. All other services start normally, including those that make RPC calls. PCTools will fail to run/install in standard mode (though Safe Mode works). Defender will fail to install, giving a 1053 error (fails to start the service). Any idea how to restore the services without a reinstall? I'm guessing it has to do with the dll linked to the services being tampered with.

I have an xp machine that continually gets the following 2 errors when the OS loads:

Services.exe - Application Error
Lsass.exe - Application Error

When I click "OK" on each, they repeat once more, and then I get a black screen with just the mouse pointer.
I get the same results when trying to boot into safe mode.

I've tried to run a "Repair" from the install CD, but had no luck.

Is there a solution I can run at boot up to solve this issue?

A:XP will not start - Services.exe - application error

Does the computer boot up in Safe Mode, you can get there via F8 just after the BIOS Post Screen or the OEM Logo like Dell or HP.

My PC is three years old and has been a great machine. I run Windows XP Home Edition, I.E. 7 and have all the protection installed I can find.

Quite by accident I discovered my System Restore is not working. I don't need it at the moment (!!!) but I like everything to be as near as perfect as possible on my PC so I have been trying to discover what the SR problem is and how I can resolve it.

I keep getting the message "S R is not able to protect your computer. Please restart and run SR again"............This advice does not work. for me!
I cannot turn off SR for the same reason.

I then checked out this section of the forum and discovered that many people have had this same problem. I have tried downloading Kelly's file 238 (I think that was the number) ; I have tried accessing services.msc ; I have tried accessing i386: nothing!

I did get the message "Error 1075: "Dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion". This error seeems to apply to many facilities on a PC.

I have my windows XP disk but cannot lay my hands on the SP2 one so I don't want to mess about without your professional advice to do so!! (apologies!)

As I said, if you solve my problem you will be miracle workers and worthy of your wings.

My thanks for any help you can offer me.

A:System Restore Won't Work : Error 1075

Right click My Computer > Manage > Expand Event Viewer > Look under Application and/or System to see if there is any event reporting on about System Restore.

Please do let us know if there is, a screenshot would be a great help.

Another workaround would be searching for sr.inf, right click it and select "Install". You might need Window XP install disc.

AVG won't install because it says there is a problem with windows firewall. Windows firewall will not start because it says that services which windows firewall depends on will not start. When I try to start these services I get Error 1068 messages.

When I right click on a service such as alerter which for some reason is disabled and click on properties, no property menu appears on the screen.

When I click away from a window it disappears, does not appear in the task bar and the only way to make it reappear is to alt and tab it back into view.

This is my brothers computer and he has not had any virus scanner since I put the computer together(much against my advice.)

My brother scanned his computer with the housecall service that trendmicro provides and it got a few problems but the issues above were not resolved. We also have no sound and his "Razor" mouse doesn't work. Standard mouse does.

I ran a hijack this log through an analyser and everything came back with Green ticks apart from 2 incorrect entries.. both entries were deemed as safe.

I figure either a key service has magically become disabled or there is something worse with this computer. Can someone tell me what I should do to procede with trying to fix the above problems?

Hi,

I am using Windows XP pro on an Intel P4 machine. I installed AVG Internet Security software which had an Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Firewall, etc.

Then all hell broke loose. First there was an Error 10106. Somehow I resolved that. I have of course un-installed the AVG S/W since.

Now I am stuck with Error 10044 "Could not start simple TCP/IP services on local computer".

The internet just won't work now. Can someone please help ?

Thanks,

Hey all!
I am really desperate. I've tried a few things that other people have posted here, especially Cookiegal and Lumpola but this issue persists.

I had a virus. I think I got rid of it. Avast scans and boot time scans and Super Anti Spyware and TDSS killer report all clear. However, the network shield of Avast and the Internet don't work.
Points to note:
1. In services, the DHCP and DNS cannot be started. I get the error 1075: service has been marked for deletion or one of it's dependancies are missing. (close to that)

I've checked the dependancies of both, and reinstated the ADF module in device manager after selecting the 'View Hidden' option.

A:DHCP Server Service -Error 1075 - not starting

2. I've tried deleting the winsock and winsock2 entries in the registry.
3. From the command prompt, SFC/scan now terminates at 82%. thrice.
4. I can see the network, both wired and wireless, I can connect, but it says I have limited connectivity.

My computer (vista) was infected with a virus. So I first used rkill/iexplore then ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware since my protection (Panda) doesn't seem to do its job correctly. The first time I did this, everything seemed to return to normal. Couple of days later, the same virus started up. I redid what I did...and it seemed to work again...until I tried using the internet. (I think Malwarebytes deleted something in the registry?)

There was an error saying that "DHCP error 1075: The dependancy service either does not exist or has been marked for deletion". I googled this on my laptop and followed some of the instructions found online. None of it worked...

I went into device manager->hiddle files->non plug and play drivers:
There was a problem with these with the same code for them: This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)
App Filter Plugin
NetMon Filter Plugin
Panda Net Driver [TDI Layer]
VSCore mferkdk

Finally, I have included the last three logs from Malwarebytes showing which files were deleted by the program.

Thank you for looking over this!!

This is my sister's netbook. The problems started with one of those new "fake antivirus" that puts up a ton of obviously fake results that claim your computer is highly infected*. She being... less technologically inclined apparently decided to run the "Antivirus scan" over and over again over night and then the next day gave it to me to try to figure out what was wrong. I can't find the links right now but I found a bunch of blogs that mentioned (Privacyprotection.exe) and among the most frustrating aspects what that it blocked pretty much everything from running. I did a bit of digging and eventually found out it was a rootkit causing the issues and the tools they gave me wouldn't run but I was able to follow the manual instructions. (remove the .exe, remove the alias, regedit and remove the key that matched privacyprotection.exe but not the other ones like the one underchrome etc). That took care of the major problem and I was able to get Microsoft Security Essentials running but everyscan kept turning up a few "Trojans" and that upon trying to clean would result in an error. The error would lead to 'restart to finish removel'. I tried safe mode and the same result. One top of that google results kept getting redirected (forget the site right now.. something like awesomesearch.com or what have you). I decided to try from another angle the redirect angle and found thishttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic422038.htmlI t... Read more

First of all, thank you very much for the help you provide for free. Not many people would do this type of work for free and it greatly appreciated. I am having multiple problems and I am unsure if they are related or not. The first thing I noticed was a very slowly running internet. So i go to scan with MalWare Bytes and Norton to check for problems. Norton find nothng, malware won't open at all. Not even from the main folder. So I download Adaware to see if it finds anything. It will run about 6 seconds and then shuts down. I try safe mode to no avail. The first time I try safe mde i get a win32 error that says a file is missing. The second time it does start in safe mode. Malware still won't open, Adaware won't run more than a few seconds.I also noticed, maybe 3 or 4 times, a yellow box in the bottom right corner pop up telling me something to the effect that my anti virus is disabled. I did not write down the exact messgae but will next time I see it. A few times, a new internet explorer window would open, onewith a "media2." something address, the other was an ad site for a malware/virus scanner they want you to buy. Again, if it pops up again I will get exact info. I do run Norton and malware fairly frequetly and have built in firewall on. But we do download quite a bit, mainly music.Attach and ARK txt files attached as requested. This just started happening this week out of nowhere.

Print Spooler will not start. I cannot start it manually. Hamachi (specfically LogMeIn Hamachi Tunneling Engine) service gives the same error. I haven't had any problems with any other services. Upon trying to start the two manually, I get the error 1503 "The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.".

I've tried the following:
- System restore to a date I believe the spooler worked
- sfc /scannow (and in safe mode)
- Chkdsk (Auto fix errors)
- Windows Repair utility
- sc config spooler depend= RPCSS
- Bruce's Printing Pages (+ reinstalling printer)
- spoolsv.exe and .exe.mui are in their correct locations. Tried renaming .exe to .bak and the .exe.mui to .exe
- RPC services are running
- DCOM Server Process Launcher is running
- Tried cleanspl.exe but it refuses to work on NT 6.1
- Troubleshooted printer. Finds spooler service isn't running. Fails to start it

With Hamachi, I ended up reinstalling it then adding in a registry key as found on their help topic over the matter. Just so much easier using this to play Sven Coop and Synergy Coop (Half-Life1/2 mods).

The spooler, once it turned back on normally...I think that was after my first attempt with "sc config ...". Anyhow though, it's never sticking and staying on after a restart and further use.

Classes just started up for me, so I'm desperate to fix this now since its bothering me to no end, and I need my print... Read more

A:windows audio: error 1075 the dependency service does not exist or has

From your description there are many more problems than just the windows audio error.

I would suspect an Operating System problem. If you can find a friend to download the Windows 7 Home Premium ISO and burn it to a DVD, that would give you the needed disc to try and repair Windows. Although your DVD drive does not work in Windows, it should work for booting.

Here is the link to the forum post. There are links to the various versions. You can download the same version that you have.

Not sure why this problem is persisting. I appear to have all the dependent files. I have run SFC/ scannow to no avail. I cannot start the services in question. The 1075 error message continues. I have attached my system info.

A:Solved: DHCP client and TCPIP Netbios helper 1075 error

I was able to restart DHCP services by deleting the registry entry and rebooting. I went into the registry editor, located the DHCP subkey, right click on dependonservice and clicked on delete.
However TCPIP Netbios helper I could still not start, even after running sfc/scannow.
The solution for me was to restore the operating system to an earlier point in time. In windows xp, go to programs> accessories>disk utilities> system restore and follow the directions. I suppose I could have done that for both problems? At least I didnít have to reinstall XP!

Anyway I can connect to internet now

okay first thing i must say is that i cant apparently create a regular zip file with the built in windows archive maker so i will have to attach the two logs as just the plain .txt files i apologize for this, however i am assuming that it is preferable to zipping them with winrar

so without further adieu,

okay i got the infamous 6to4vsc32.dll virus and it did what everyone says and kept like redirecting me and what not along with the other random crap that went with that virus, well i had to really chip away at it but i finally deleted it and got it to the point where it would no continue to restore itself i deleted every single trace of it anywhere on my computer, i even made sure to go through the registry and delete all the keys it deleted, well in short it finally went away (i hope) now when we (me and my brother, it is his computer i was working on) thought we had gotten rid of it before all we would do it go to internet and try to go to a site and if it would redirect us we would know that it was still present, well this is where the problem came in.

once i had finally gotten rid of it, i ran unhackme deep scan just to make sure that it didnt find anything, seeing as it was specfially noted for its ability
to get past the top of the line, best anti-virus software on the market, so it required a reboot to perform this so i did that it ran the scan and didnt pick nothing up, so i went along with no worry. when it then logged on fully the task bar and all the win... Read more

I had trouble updating the MSE definitions a couple of days ago and I tried everything to get it to update, something about no connection. I gave up and uninstalled MSE completely using Revo. From Microsoft's web site, I downloaded and installed the newest version of MSE and the definitions updated just fine. Finally, the action center red flag is gone. However, a couple of days later, an alert comes back. This time, it's notifying me that Windows Security Center Service is turned off. With the Action Center open, I clicked "turn on now" but nothing happens, Security Center remains off.
I go to Run-services.msc and scroll down to Security Center and double click on it. Service status says "stopped". I click start and get the message, "Windows could not start the Security Center Service on local computer. Error 5: Access is denied.
This is all done from an administrator account.
Why wasn't I able to update MSE definitions and why, after a reinstall of a perfectly working MSE, am I now unable to turn on Security Center Services?

I have tried a few things. I was going to install McAfee Total Protection to see if that would clean it up, but McAfee would not install completely because of some sort of problem apparently.

I am able to get into Safe Mode and have burned combofix to a CD on another computer, and was hoping to run it on my infected(?) computer to see if that would help, but see that the instructions say to post here first.

Hello whiteboy75,

First, try to utilize System Restore and see if that can get it out of that Startup Repair loop.

Restart your computer and tap F8 to bring up the Advanced Menu, then click Repair your computer

Follow the prompt to enter keyboard input method, and then the prompt to enter a password. If the machine does not have a password, simply click Enter.

In the next menu, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight System Restore and press Enter. Follow the prompts.

=============================

If Windows loads for you, then please follow the instructions in our pre-posting topic New Instructions - Read This Before Posting for Malware Removal Help and post the requested logs in your next reply.

If you have trouble with one of the steps, simply move on to the next one, and make note of it in your reply.

=============================

If Windows is still stuck in Startup Repair loop, then I need to know if this is a 32 or 64-bit machine in order to provide the next set of instructions.

I'm not very experienced with computers and have recently come across a problem I don't seem to be able to solve.

I was recently infected with a virus and had to start in safe mode to clean up my PC. I used Spybot and Avira and they seemed to work ok, but now when I try to start up normally, all I get on my screen is my wallpaper. There are no menu bars, no icons, etc, so I cannot run anything. I tried Ctrl-Alt-Del to get the task manager up and running, but I receive a message saying that the task manager was disabled by the administrator, which I certainly didn't do. Can anyone help.

On a similar topic, is there any way I can possibly print while in safe mode. At the moment I get a message saying I cannot add a printer or print as the print spooler is not running

When I do this on theirs, the start bar flashes, but doesnt stay up no matter what.

Any ideas?

Yesterday, my computer was infected with the Department of Justice virus from Youtube. After doing some research, I followed a tutorial that said to start the PC in Safe Mode, and type in "rstrui.exe" to prompt the System Restore to start. I selected a date that was just before my infection. When my computer restarted, I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and it came up with a clean report. I tested out various things, and everything seemed fine on my computer. I shut it down for the night with no problems. When I went to start it up today, however, the computer will not respond. Pressing the power button does absoutely nothing. I have tried unplugging the tower, waiting, and plugging it back in for various amounts of time and while holding down the start button, but nothing has worked. None of the fans go on, no sounds are made, and the only light that is on is in back of the tower underneath the main power cord. I'm completely stumped at this point, and have no idea where to turn for a solution. I have many files on my computer that I didn't get a chance to back up, so I'm hoping I can at least access and save them to my flash drive. Any help would greatly be appreciated!

I have a HP Pavilion (made about 2007) that runs Windows Vista with IE 9.

To start off, I have Windows 7 and my laptop had the "Win 7 Security 2012" Virus. I ran TDSS killer, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and Kaspersky which seemed to fix the problem but whenever I would do a search engine inquiry and I'd click on a website, it would always redirect me. My laptop would also still run slow and the internet seemed slower as well too. So a friend thought he could resolve the issue and he downloaded Vipre Antivirus which removed my infections but it said the system needed a reboot, and when I did I'd get the notification that Windows was unable to start and that I'd need to perform a System Restore, which I did but I was left with the same problem. So I saw reviews and got Spyware Doctor, hoping it could resolve this issue. Well I ran a full scan and after it removed three different infections from my computer it said my computer needed to be restarted. When I did this I got the same notification that Windows is unable to startup and would have to do a System Restore, and now I'm left with the same issue. I am so tired of failed attempts I was hoping you guys could help. Please!!!!

Hi all

Hopefully someone can help me out here.

I have a Dell laptop with Windows 7 on it. I was having virus issues, so I took the hard drive out of the laptop and put in in my desktop so that I could back it up using Acronis True Image. Right away when I connected the hard drive, Windows Defender found and removed Trojan:DOS/Alureon.K. I figured that was a good thing. I went ahead and backed up the drive and put it back in the laptop.

Now, when I go to boot it up, Windows 7 starts to come up, but then gives a brief BSOD then reboots. From the BSOD, I was able to capture:
STOP: 0x0000007B (0xFFFFF880009A97E8, 0xFFFFFFFFc00000D, ....

I have booted into System Recovery and tried the Startup Repair, but it fails, as does the Repair option. I have tried the Command Line Fix MBR, but that didn't help either. I also cannot get into Safe Mode.

Thank for any assistance, very frustrating.

I unfortunately managed to contract the Ukash virus/trojan. I dealt with this following a few guides on line that led me to restore to yesterday, use malware anitbytes and what appears to have succesfully removed the virus. Now if i try to start the system in normal start mode i get to the log on screen before BSOD'ing. The following is from the windows report when i start back up in Safemode with networking. The windows report wont complete:

Hello,

I had the system security 2012 virus and had someone here help me get rid of it. They suggested I post in this forum since windows is still blocking some start up programs from running. I downloaded startuplite and it only found two of the programs. All of the programs are legit files, but the only choice I have in windows defender is to remove it.

These are a few of the programs it's blocking on post #35:

Hi .I read through some of your posts, but not all...so, forgive me if I ask questions that seem redundant. You assert that "Windows" is blocking start-up programs....have you an error message that says that this is taking place? If so, can you post one such?Then...Download Autoruns for Windows: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspxNo installation required.Simply unzip Autoruns.zip file, and double click on autoruns.exe file to run the program.Go File>Save, and save it as AutoRuns.txt file to know location. You must select Text from drop-down menu as a file type: Attach the file to your next reply.Louis

Well, I got hit with the koobface virus, which then attached the virus response 2009 spyware. A friend came over today and we spent 10 hours hacking on the computer and believe that
the viruses are gone (tinyproxy.exe, bolivar 28, and avrlabs.exe) but now my computer will
not function except in the safe mode with networking!

When I boot up in normal mode, it freezes at the wallpaper stage and will not boot any further.
I have barely an idea how I got all the malicious off after multiple calls to microsoft, but am
now at a grinding halt on how to get the freezing to stop. Someone helping today suggested
stripping my hard drive and reconfiguring it......NO WAY!!

I have Zone Labs for my saftey and ran the malwarebytes, ewido, and saftey.live.com, to get rid of the initial
problems, but can someone help me with the frozen start-up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Honestly, what motivates these rotten people to do this to others?

Thanks so much from a novice user!

A:Start-up freeze after virus response 2009 removal

Suggestion one.

In safe mode try going to start - run - and type sfc /scannow

Insert your xp cd and repair whatever needs to be repaired.

This may still be infected so I suggest opening a thread in the AM I Infected forum.

Please help anyone who can!
So I recently contracted the "hard disk error" virus on Vista. It was a PAIN to remove, but the programs I ran (RKill and Malwarebytes) really seemed to do the trick.
However, the virus came back a couple days ago! I guess I failed to clean it thouroughly enough? Anyways, for whatever reason I had to run my virus software again.
I left the scan running, and became distracted by other things cause those scans take SO long. But after about a half an hour I glanced at my computer and noticed a blue screen flash across my monitor for about half a second before my computer totally shut down
So I assumed it was the same virus, and attempted to restart and keep cleaning. However my computer can ONLY run in safe mode without spontaneously shutting down.
So I read about running system restore in safe mode, but I've encountered all of the following problems and HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO!!

1. I can't find system restore through the start menu, or "system properties" in the control panel. Start menu can't find it and the "system protection" tab is missing under the control panel.
2. I can't execute rstrui.exe on task manager. I've tried the offline executable and SystemPropertiesProtection.exe. All of those three generate some sort of error after I attempted to run them.
3. Lastly, when I run System Repair using the F8 startup options, I click on "System Restore" and absolutely nothing happens. If I wait a minute and cli... Read more

Hello, I hope someone can help me as I've been trying to fix this computer for over a week now. After an alert from AVG saying the computer was infected I ran the virus check with AVG and removed infected files. After removing the infected files found by AVG upon reboot there was a BSOD with the error message: STOP:C000021a {fatal system error} The Windows login process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000034 (0x00000000 0x00000000) The system has been shut down.

The computer would not boot to Safe Mode or any other choice (last known good configuration, etc) After that message and researching the problem on another computer I copied the csrss and winlogon files to a floppy and added them to the infected computer. This allowed me to boot to the desktop but there is no start bar or icons - just the background picture. The only way to access anything is through the task manager.

I have scanned the computer using Malwarebytes, AVG 9.0, Spybot, ccCleaner and no infection is found. I did scan with Kapersky online scanner before I realized it would not remove anything found on your computer. The following 4 infections were found but I don't know how or if I should remove them...

Recently I was hit with the Antivirus 2008 problem where my desktop wallpaper was changed to a picture of a false error message and my google searches were redirected. I thought i'd solved the problem after running a malwarebyte anti-malware scan, since these problems went away after one scan, cleaning the infected items, and a restart. I hadn't turned my computer off for about 3 or 4 days after that, and in that time i noticed that when i tried to install something (powerpoint viewer) i got an error message saying that windows installer wasn't installed correctly, which never happened before. Then when the power went out for a second, my computer rebooted and now everytime i start up windows, i get the services.exe error 1073741819 where the computer restarts after one minute, and the computer runs extremely slow. It happens immediately after the desktop appears, even in safe mode. I've tried to install hijackthis from a CD-R in safe mode but as soon as the install dialog comes up and i press install, nothing happens as the computer is running slow.

What do I do? Please help.

Hi there.

I've recently removed the Windows XP Security 2012 virus using the instructions posted elsewhere on this forum.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-win-7-antispyware-2012

However, while I have managed to restore the program folders in my start menu, they are all empty and will not operate.

I am using an ACER desktop PC with Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3.

For info, I'm based in the UK so running on GMT.

Can anyone help?

Thanks all.

A:Start Menu - all program folders empty following virus removal

Mind telling us...exactly how you "managed to restore the program folders in my start menu" ?

If they are restored, why are they empty?

Does that mean that you have searched your system for the appropriate .exe files for those programs?

System manufacturer and mdoel?

I didn't know where else to put this so I apologize ahead of time.

I am working on this computer running Windows 7. After running several anti-virus/malware programs (Avast, Microsoft Essentials, Malwarebytes, EmsisoftEmergencyKit) several viruses were removed. I didn't note the names at the time. Prior to the removal, certain features wouldn't work, e.g. when clicking on a Control Panel applet, nothing would run. Those things are working now. I am able to get online, but certain items fail, such as updating Microsoft Essentials. I checked and Firewall is not running, nor can I get it running.

I have tried running MS Fix It, importing registry entries for Base Filtering Engine (BFE) and Windows Firewall Authorization Driver (MPSDRV) - doesn't seem to be running...

I am open to ANY ideas.

It's my friends computer and he gave me permission to try and fix it. I've used this forum before for my computer, but forgot my old account, and the old email address i used, I don't have anymore. It's a Toshiba Laptop (I don't know the model # yet, I'm heading over there today later.) with Windows 7.

A couple days ago it would start normally, with the exception that Win 7 Antivirus is infecting my computer. Not able to load anything but FireFox even though it still gives you problems, and won't let you download anything.

Yesterdy I started it up and Startup Repair Tool started, it says it couldn't be performed, tells me it's gonna Restart when I click the button, I click it and it Shuts Down. And it just keeps going over and over. I went to the screen where the System Recovery Options are. I tried System Restore to a couple days before the Loop started. So I tried to Restore both drives it said they were both successful. Restarted and back to the loop. I haven't tried the System Image thing, don't know what it is. Did the Memory Diagnostic Tool, of course I can't log on to see the Results. I don't know if I can get into Command, I haven't tried.

When I go into Boot Mode, Both Safe Mode's don't work. Safe Mode with Command Prompt, I haven't tried. I don't know if Anything elses on the screen works (Enable Boot Logging, Enable Low Resolution video (640 x 480), Last Know Good Configuration, etc.) The l... Read more

I managed to contract the Trojan.Fake MS virus, but successfully removed using malwarebytes.

However, all the start menu folders are now empty. I have tried:
unhide.exe
regfix.exe
and several other fixes I found googling the problem.

One post here said use System Look, which I did and it generated the following log:

64 bit emachines desktop PC running Home Premium, direct wire connection to a modem.

It boots normally, it just doesn't connect to the internet. Many of the services are disabled.

I have done a startup repair with and without a disk (the CD we have is NOT from emachines - it's a standard Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit disk. The repairs never find a problem. I have done an sfc /scannow. No intefgrity violations were detected.

When I run services.msc I see that DHCP Client is not running. When I attempt to start it, I get that it could not start because the dependency service or group failed to start. If I go to properties and click on Dependencies I get a Win32 error - the service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

I get the exact behavior when I try to start DNS Client.

There are no restore points available. There are no viruses or malware according to TDSSKiller, Malwarebytes and ComboFix. When I try to use Internet Explorer I get the 'page cannot be displayed' . When I then click on 'Diagnose Connection Problems', I get 'Troubleshooting Couldn't Identify the Problem.'

Thanks in advance for your help.
Running XP service pack 3 with an Asus motherboard (A7M266) and AMD processor.

A few weeks ago my computer was running slow so I did a restart. When it tried to reboot I got a series of beeps and a red box ?Trend ChipAwayVirus has detected a boot virus on your hard disk!? It does this every time I reboot now. At the same time this started I got a notification saying my copy of window needs to be reactivated because my computer had changed significantly?even though I didn?t change anything. I was able to reactive windows with no problem.
Next I started seeing ?Generic Host Process for win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close?. Also, svchost.exe in task manager often starts to max out the CPU, accessing the hard drive, and network.
I?m unable to run Windows Update and when I use Google I get redirected to other sites.
I ran Avast antivirus and it removed win32:FakeSysdef-CO. That didn?t change anything. I tried running windows live safety scanner and it would not complete the scan. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Matt

Hey. My machine became the latest to succumb to attacks from AntiVermins today.I checked out the instructions to manually remove AntiVermins from my machine, but the only file I could find in my \system32 folder was . . .C:\Windows/System32/cwgppb.dllThe other 9 .dll files listed in those instructions were not found. Also, I had tried to download Ad-Aware SE personal edition to my machine, but every time I click the download link on Lavasoft's website, the AntiVermin program on my system automatically redirects the page to an IE 404 error page that reads "This page cannot be displayed." I need help, because I really don't have the extra cash at the moment to purchase a licensing agreement from another company. I used Ad-Aware at my old place of business, and the sucker was as good as gold, but now I'm being blocked from downloading it. Suggestions? Please help ASAP!!

First of all: I am by no means a technical genius (Google got me this far) and my technical lingo/knowledge is limited. In other words ... if suggested solutions to my problem were to be posted in a not-too-technical language and thoroughly explained, you'd make me very happy. My troubles originated when I got a virus on my PC: SMART HDD, a rogue scanner.Google led me to this guide (http://www.myantispyware.com/2010/12/14/how-to-remove-smart-hdd-and-smarthdd-virus/) to manually removing the virus and I followed the first 6 steps without encountering any problems.Step 7 is where I first encountered one of my current problems:"7: Now you can unhide all files and folders that has been hidden by Smart HDD. Click Start, type in Search field cmd and press Enter. Command console “black window” opens. Type cd \ and press Enter. Type attrib -h /s /d and press Enter. Close Command console."Access denied.I followed through with the remaining steps anyway and successfully removed the virus using MBAM and TDSSKiller (which only found "RS_Service" which, so Google tells me, is an Acer program and seeing as TDSSKiller suggested to "skip it" I left it be).To be sure my system was clean I created a System Resque CD (Avira Antivir) and booted my computer from the CD running a full system scan: nothing was found (except a few "warnings"/"alerts" concerning a couple of encrypted files (I consulted a more technologically knowl... So, I had to fix this computer, which somehow got infected. I think I have removed all the dangerous ones (Symantec and Malwarebytes), but there remain three other ones, which if I'm not wrong are just annoying, not else.

The first one, has something to do with audiodg.exe, because what happens is, out of nowhere some online tv starts sounding. Mainly, this computer if used for watching television online, and I really do not know where to even begin diagnosing this issue. The only thing I have got from it, is that if I kill audiodg.exe from Task Manager, it stops, then after 2 seconds it appears again and the audio goes on. Then it stops and it does not appear for a while.

The second issue is when the browser redirects to "winner" pop-ups from Google.

The third issue is this reappearing window, even when a browser is not running at all:

http://img851.imageshack.us/i/capturehh.png/

Would anyone know how to fix these issues? The antivirus and Malwarebytes are showing nothing when they complete a full scan.

My brand new Dell laptop keeps losing its active window focus. I have tried to pinpoint the problem to a service or startup and did not find anything specific.
I am now checking the System logs and I see things like :
The Windows Modules Installer Service changes every couple of seconds its start mode from demand to auto and from auto to demand. There are almost 20 changes from one state to the other in 2 minutes.
The Computer browser service starts/stops several times in a few minutes.
The Multimedia Class Scheduler service starts/stops every 3 or 4 minutes.
Is this normal ? How do I troubleshoot this ?
