Q: Viewsonic VX2433Wm's - Is it a good LCD Monitor? Should wait for Windows 7 Touch Scre

Dear All Experts,

Hello! How are you all doing? Well today, I came across this Viewsonic LCD Monitor which looks quiet appealing and of course, being manufactured by the leading display technology company of the world Viewsonic! Heres the link to the product:

Viewsonic VX2433wm (24inch HD LCD Monitor)
http://www.viewsonic.com/products/de...s/vx2433wm.htm

Now here's what I need to know:

My main use of an LCD Monitor will be to:

* Watch Movies (Which should include a DVD & High Definition (HD) Quality Videos).
* Play 3D and Normal Games.
* Movies like Jurassic Park, Speed, Titanic, Action Movies, etc...
* Web browsing, doing back work on PC, Listening to music.

So, this in short will be the purpose of using a new LCD Monitor. So far, I am using CRT Monitor.

Once you have gone through the above link, could you kindly let me know how well would this Viewsonic LCD Monitor fair in terms of my above mentioned usage.

BUT NOW HERE's A TwIsT >>> While looking forward to buy an LCD Monitor, one question that kills my decision of buying it is that What if a Touch Screen LCD Monitor will be made available once Windows 7 releases to users. Then would all these LCD Monitors sold out today will be consider completely outdated not only in terms of technology but features as well. However, there are few things that comes to my notice for going with an LCD Monitor and not a Touchscreen one...

a) Touch Screen LCD Monitor is for sure going to be costly for at least upto a year right from its initial date of release.

b) There is simply no assureness whether the first phase of Touch Screen LCD Monitor released for Windows 7 would work well for its users. Now you see, this is the reason why its being said to always wait and watch till the time everbody has tried its hands on the product b'coz that exactly is the place from where the bug will arise therefore in the 2nd and 3rd phase, these bugs will be sorted out and a fresh stocks of the product completely free of factory defects will be released to the market. I believe to always wait for the 3rd phase of the product to be released and then buy it b'coz if will not only completely be free of defects but would also contains tons of additional features at times and considering these, one could understand how terrible impact could be created on the 1st phase that users have already purchased in their over excitement to try them out.

c) Also, touch screen as seen in the past have not achieved much success since everybodys fingers are slightly big in size to click on the options which turns out to be smaller most of the times when compared to your fingers.

Anyway'z, kindly assist me in this regards please.....

Your valuable time and inputs are highly appreciated!!!!

Regards,
Apoorva.

Hi, Viewsonic is a well known and trusted brand (in my experience) you will find that most modern monitors are well made certainly need to be FCC certified for US sale . Now there is one major element missing from your post. What computer specs have you and most important Memory, Video card and Power supply unit (PSU).

Hey guys,
I brought my desktop back from school, but I didn't want to worry about transporting the monitor, so I'm borrowing my dad's Viewsonic VX2433wm. At school, I use a Samsung 2343BWX along with a Dell 20" 1680x1050 monitor (unfortunately, I don't know the model). However, my computer seems to act up with it connected.

The most obvious thing is that the text is kind of blurry. I tried adjusting ClearType, but that didn't seem to help. Pictures/color seem to look okay though, and most games look/perform the way they should. I made sure the video card is outputting 1080p, and I also switched to my integrated graphics chipset (Intel HD 3000), but it looks the same. I tried opening AMD Catalyst Control Center, but it tells me that the "Host application has stopped working". Doom 3 BFG edition also crashes once I get in-game.

Here's the weird part: When I connect via HDMI my AOC L32W761, all of these problems go away. AMD CCC works fine, the text looks okay, and everything seems as it should. When I connect only my TV, everything is okay too. Why would this happen? I've switched cables, switched ports, uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers with driver cleaners, and I can sometimes sort these issues out, but I'm pretty stumped right now. I don't think the monitor had issues before.

My setup is this custom build I put together last year:

Intel Core i7 2600k
ASUS P8Z68-V Pro/Gen 3
AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6950 2GB
8GB DDR3-1... Read more

I really need help! I have a Lenovo ideapad s500 touch laptop with a i3 processor. Yesterday when I turned my laptop on there was only a blank screen. I tried various methods to resolve this issue, including draining my battery life to zero and plugging it back in. Eventually, I used an HDMI cable to connect to my tv. At first it didn't work but I spam pressed various buttons, including f8, shift+f8, and fn+f8. Eventually I got my laptop to display the screen normally on my tv.  I then decided to system restore my operating system (I have windows 10) to last weeks updates hoping it would make my laptop screen work again. The system restore went fine and  it restarted on its own. Then, my screen stopped displaying on my tv and it said no signal was found. Also note that during the system restore while it was working properly with my first tv, I plugged my HDMI into a secondary tv and couldn't get the laptop to display anything and it said there was no signal found.  Now I'm back at square one so to speak and I can't get my laptop to display the screen on any tv. While I'd sure love to get my laptop to work properly, at very least I'd really like to be able to once again display the screen on a tv. Also please note that the the laptop screen does light up (it's just a black screen) and while the screen was being displayed on my tv the touch screen on my laptop worked fine. If anyone has solutions or suggestions I would really appreciate it!  T... Read more

I followed some tips on the HP website to see if I could find the problem myself and went straight to the Pen and Touch status in the settings and it shows: No pen or touch input is available for this display. I recently bought the Pavilion 15-p209ni (M6F16EA).  I am very happy with the product but i would like to make some chnages to it as well. My hope is that i will be able to change the current keyboard to a backlit version and also chnage the current non-touch screen to a touch screen. If this is at all possible, i would love to be notified and also to be told approximate prices for these changes.

A:Can i change the screen of my HP pavilion 15 to a touch scre...

The Model series did have a touchscreen option so theoretically you could buy the touchscreen assembly and retrofit it to your current chassis. Likely you would be looking at something like $3-400 for parts and labor. There is no backlit keyboard option.  The economics of the touchscreen upgrade do not really make sense. You would likely come out better buying a new laptop and selling yours so at least you could retain a warranty.

Ok, no laughing when you read this.....I just bought a new Dell 660 computer that has Windows 7 on it. I can't get my monitor to work on it. Ok, so don't laugh, but it has been a good monitor that was manufactured in 1997......Viewsonic E771.....you know the old, bulky thing. I told myself that I would not buy a new one until this one died. I'm on my third computer with this monitor. Can I get this thing to work with my new Dell?

Just performed windows update on my Dell Inspiron Desktop 560MT - Intel(R) G45/G43 Express Chipset. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium - 64 bit. I have been using dual monitors on the system since purchase. After performing windows update today my second monitor (connected by HDMI) will no longer display. The other monitor (the working one) is connected via VGA. The system does not recognize it is even connected. At start up however it will display up until login window. I am using two ViewSonic VX2453 Series monitors. I am desperate as I have to have both monitors for work. I have tried unplugging and replugging, restarting it with it unplugged and plugged. I uninstalled the update and have tried autodetect on the system all to no avail. Help!!

A:After Windows update 2nd Viewsonic monitor will no longer display

KChristians, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Sounds like you have WU set to automatically download and install updates, and it updated either the video or monitor driver. If that is what happened check your update history and you can uninstall it from there and should get you back to the previous drive.

Also if that s what it was you might want to set WU to not download and install drivers automatically, step #4 here,

Hello this is my first time posting so please bare with me lol. So I just got a new gateway dx4860-ub32p tower. The problem I am having is that when trying to use a second monitor for extended desktop the hdmi is not recognized. When I start the computer both monitors have the boot screen and starting windows screen. Past that only my monitor plugged in by vga cable is recognized. When I go to graphics options there is only one screen option shown. I am using windows seven the second monitor is a flat screen tv. Im not sure if anymore info is needed but hopefully some one may have some idea whats going on THANKS

A:New Gateway Desktop. Will not recognize second Monitor after boot scre

First try using the second monitor as the main monitor using the HDMI cable. Then when that is all set up, you can add the VGA monitor as your secondary monitor and extend.

Greetings all,

My ViewSonic VX2450wm-LED monitor is recognized as Generic Non-PnP Monitor. I even downloaded and attempted to install Viewsonic's "Standard_Monitor_Driver_Signed_Win7_x64". It times out at the end of installation and requests I download "Standard_Monitor_Driver_Signed" from Viewsonic website.

My display view is set at max res of 1600x1200. I am running Win7-Ultimate 64bit.

Is there any other way to get Win 7-Ultimate 64bit to recognize the monitor as VX? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using an NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS 256MB card.

Thank you

A:ViewSonic VX2450wm-LED monitor is a Generic Non-PnP Monitor

If you need to know, here is how I fixed it.
First install ViewSonic's "Standard_Monitor_Driver_Signed_Win7_x64"
Go to Device Manager
Select Monitor drop down tab
Select Generic PnP Monitor
Right-Click on Generic PnP Monitor
Select option "Update Driver Software"
Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Select from the models listed: Generic PnP Monitor
Select option "Have Disk..."
Select "Browse..."
Navigate to where the ViewSonic monitor drivers are stored
Example: C:\ViewSonic
Select monitor driver
Example: VX2450_SERIES
Click "Open"
Click "OK"
Select from the pop up window:
ViewSonic on the left and ViewSonic VX2450 Series on the right
Click "Finish"

Finally, you will receive the message: Windows has successfully updated your driver software.
Notice resolution is now 1680x1050

After successful install of Nvidia drivers for my laptop's "nvidia geforce 9300m gs" current version:

186.19 to new version: 260.99, the max res cannot be set to the following available resolutions:
1920x1200, 1920x1440 or 2048x1536

Enjoy!

I'm trying to decide between the G90FB 19" or the P95F+B...
Here are the links:
G90FB
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-116-282&depa=1
P95F+B
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-116-232&depa=1

The only real difference between the 2 is the fact the Professional one (P95F+B) has an aperture grille while the Gaming (G90FB) has a shadow mask

I know the shadow mask uses dots (dot pitch) while the aperture grille uses lines instead of dots...

Which monitor will give me the best picture for gaming and crisp clear text.

A:Which is the better Viewsonic monitor?

If you can afford it I'd get the Professional version. I had Philips 107P (Professional) monitor with a .25 Aperture grille and it was the best monitor as far as picture quality/clairity I've ever seen (I'm sure there are better, but not without paying major money).

I run XP on a new box and a fairly new 19" (year old) View Sonic LCD monitor. The monitor worked as advertised on my old PC but when attached to my new one I frequently get a flashing green power indicator light and will get no picture.

This happens 100% of the time if I cold start the PC and I have to screw around with the restart button and on/off power button to get it to come back to life and in truth I do not know which combination of button pushing gets it to come back. I now use the power saver mode because that seems to be the most consistent way of bringing the monitor back to life but even that didn't work this am.

ViewSonic's web site wasn't much help.

Help here?

It sounds like the vertical deflection is gone. Try the monitor on a different computer or a different monitor on yours to see where the problem is. If the monitor is bad its better to bury a new one than to pay to have it repaired. New monitors are pretty cheap now.

My Viewsonic LCD monitor flashes on and off depending on what I am viewing. I can view pages in any program that has writing or a small number of small pictures without too much trouble. A web page with lots of pictures or the desktop and screen saver are the worst. The monitor flashes off so much on these last pages that I can barely see the page long enough to move the mouse and open a program or expand one from the start bar. I have checked cables, changed power cord, and checked video card drivers. Viewsonic website was no help. Anyone with any ideas?

Hi and welcome to TSG.

Do you happen to know if you are operating the monitor at or beyond its normal operating range for resolution and refresh rates?

Do you get a stable image if you start Windows with a lower resolution in Safe mode?

In the future, it would help us to help you if you give more details like the model number of the monitor and how it is connected to the computer. The TSG reporting utility program does not produce an exhaustive and detailed report about all of the hardware related to your computer.

I am running Vista Home Prem.I use an 8800 GTS EVGA.I have the latest drivers for my 8800. I run 2 Viewsonic monitors. One is a VG900b and is fine. I also run a VX2235 digital monitor. Both monitors are listed in device manager by model. I manually installed drivers directly off of the discs.I have also downloaded Viewsonic's monitor drivers. I can't get my 22" to go to it's native resolution of 1680x1050.I have had these installed for a long time and working fine. When I ran a hard disc error check that is listed under tools under properties of my computer it erased my 22" and it's capabilities to operate @ native resolution. Another difference is that before I manually installed the VX2235, it was listed as a 'non plug and play monitor' under device manager. I have never seen that before. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am this close to going out and buying a new XP Pro disc.

My 2nd attempt to get some help off the forums

A few days ago, I tried loading up Warcraft 3, a game, and the screen went black, with the light flashing on and off. If I alt tabbed out of WC3 the screen turned back on. The problem persisted after a restarted, so I left it for a while. A few hours later I tried and W3 worked fine, no problems.

However today I turn on my PC and after a few seconds during the boot up, the screen goes blank with the flashing on and off light again. I restart it and it goes blank even faster.
After a while on the forums (on my GFs laptop) I try pressing F8 before the screen goes blank, and then press ESC for the 'default' Boot option. It goes on to boot up normally, with screen errors. I test out warcraft 3, (since when I first saw this it was whilst starting up this program) and it works fine, and goes on to do so for a few hours, till I turn the screen off and on to see if the problem is permanently fixed. It hasn't, the screen goes black.
Upon restarting my PC I get the same error as before, Pressing F8 and Esc doesn't fix it anymore. However now after pressing Esc I get to the screen where they ask me if I would like to Boot up in Safe mode. I do so and it loads up in safe mode fine.
Later on I try again to get it to load in normal mode, it does first time. Then upon loading Warcraft 3 again, the screen goes black again, with the flashing light. Again rebooting results in the same black screen a few seconds into loading... Read more

I have a Viewsonic VA721 monitor that I was using up until earlier today when the monitor started acting like a scrambled cable tv channel when turned on.

I was wondering if anyone might happen to know as to what might cause that, what the technical term for it might be and as to whether or not it can be fixed.

Up until today I have never had any problems with the monitor. Every time I would walk away from the computer for a while I would shut the monitor off so that I could avoid any burn in problems with it thereby preserving the life of the monitor. Because of that I have never had any problems with it until today and at the moment I do not know what could be causing the problem.

I tried the monitor on two different computers with two different cables and got the same result. I bought the monitor in 2006 brand new and up until today it has served me faithfully without any problems.

I don't know if it can be fixed or even if it is worth it nor do I know if it is something that I can fix myself or if I would have to have someone else fix it.

What I do know is if there is anything that I can do to fix the problem myself and restore it to active service then I might choose to give it a try.

Until I have more answers though I cannot make an informed decision about any of it and that is why I am asking.

I am hoping that there will be someone here that will know about such things and can give me some straight advice and information about the monitor and the pro... Read more

I just replaced a 1280x1024 Viewsonic monitor, that had gone bad, with another one (Viewsonic VA708).

Though I've never really been one to pay "hard hard" attention to how things look on a monitor - never felt a problem with anything - something just looks/feels "off" with this one.

This is most noticeable to me on the titles appearing on the browser tabs in Firefox. They just look "wrong" - watery maybe to my eye.

BUT... I have attached a screenshot comparing a blowup of a browser tab from my work computer Dell 1280x1024 monitor (top) and my new Viewsonic monitor (bottom), blown up to 1000 px wide (I cropped), and in the blowup, I can't tell the difference.

So why might I be perceiving things differently with this new monitor?

FWIW, I did update the driver from the Viewsonic site, and I also played with both the monitor's and the control panel's display adjustments.

I have a ViewSonic 19" CRT monitor (bought new in '99) connected to a PC that runs Win XP SP2, 512 MB RAM, Matrox Millenium AGP card.

The system ran fine until I moved it (carefully) to another room. The CPU boots but the monitor does not give any video. I get a black screen with a repetetive blue area that indicates no signal. The specific line entry is "No Synch". I think I may have seen this in the past, when the monitor was powered on but the CPU was shut off. I can't be certain it's the exact same condition.

I switched cables and tried a different video card but no luck. I don't have another monitor other than my laptop. I think I can hook it up to act as a monitor but not certain. Can't afford to crash the laptop.

Any suggestions?

Just upgraded to Win7 64bit. My trusty old monitor has no sound (the picture is fine) I found a driver for a generic Viewsonic x64 driver, http://www.viewsonic.com/support/dow...d_Win7_x64.zip but that didn't solve the problem. I read a suggestion somewhere to uninstall the driver and let Windows find it. That didn't solve the problem either. I tested the monitor with my old (XP) system, in case the monitor developed a sudden fault, but there is still sound when I plug it back in there.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I really don't fancy having to buy a new monitor too, after having had to replace my printer and scanner

A:Viewsonic vx2235wm-1 Monitor has no sound.

What does the monitor require? Older monitors, that use VGA or DVI usually have a Jack to connect from the PC's Speaker out (GREEN) to the monitor for sound. No driver is required for that. There is no audio in a VGA or DVI connection, just video.

Hi Guys, I have no idea whats going on over at Viewsonic, however their support service is lacking some serious SUPPORT!!! Just the other day, I re-installed Vista 64 and had been happily using a x64 monitor driver for my VX2025WM, just before the re-install I decided to trall the net for latest drivers and deleted any old ones I had (stupid I know). Anyway on re-install with the latest unsigned driver - Standard_Monitor_Driver_Unsigned_Windows_x64 - Dated 04/10/2007, it is now telling me it cannot find my monitor. I've also tried the latest signed driver and this is not working either. I have tried a manual install from C:\Viewsonic and funny enough the monitor isn't even listed. I've asked Viewsonic for help with them replying asking me to download the latest unsigned driver (what the???) All I need is a copy of the previous unsigned driver to this one listed and I know 101% it will find my monitor and work, does anyone have it or know where I can find archived drivers, as Viewsonic have not responded to this request. Please help! Cheers in advance.

I'm stuck between these 3 monitors. The HP 27xi AOC i2757fh or the Viewsonic VX2770SMH-LED 27

They all look similar, but I'm just not sure which one to get. I'm leaning toward the HP 27xi though, but this site rated the AOC i2757fh a little higher over the HP 27xi. I'd like to hear some feedback from you guys.

My main usage is playing games like BF3/BF4, SWTOR and Titanfall when it comes out. I also do a lot of web surfing and occasional movie watcher on this monitor. My current monitor is a 24 inch Asus VW246H and I like it, but I don't love it. So my main concern is how well it displays games. I don't want any ghosting and the least amount of input lag I can find. Now, I know the AOC boasts a slightly quicker response time of 5ms vs the HP's 7 seconds, but the reviews I've read thus far state there is no visual lag from the HP. What do you guys suggest? Thanks in advance!

I have a ViewSonic 2235 22" LCD. I need to find a driver to allow 1600x1050 resolution. I've been to ViewSonic's site and downloaded their signed and unsigned Vista drivers with no improvement - the closes resolution I have the option of is 1600x1024 or 1600x1200.

I had this monitor working fine with a 1600x1050 resolution. I changed out my motherboard (from an Asus p5w to p5e) and reinstalled Vista - and now I'm unable to get the monitor to the right resolution.

I just bought a new 19" A90F+ ViewSonic Monitor (not flat panel LCD) and everything went great for my 1st week. After this when I would move my mouse to take it off standby my perportions were off and the I could only see half the taskbar...I guess it change the display areas automatically. Also I have noticed some of the edges kinda slant in or curve at the edges some. It's so frustration because the bottom seems to be fine and the top corners can be half there. What's a joe to do?

PS: I Havne't even touched the OSD settings on the monitor itself...

Hello guys,

So one night when I left my computer on, i wake up at 3AM on a rainy night and i notice my entire room flashing (like from a tv in dark room). I thought I was having a rolling blackout, but as I got to my senses I noticed that my monitor was the only thing turning off and on. I turned it off, and went to sleep. The next morning I went to go turn on my computer and the monitor does the same thing. It turns off...on...off...on...off...CONSTANTLY (about a one to two second delay between each) until I turn the monitor off. The LED light is green. It goes from green, to off, to green, etc. I've had no prior problems with this monitor.

I tried switching out the power cord and plugging it into my wall (not connected to my video card, or anything)...no luck. It's definately the monitor. I don't know if it's dead or repairable or what. I often leave the computer on over night but i have a 10 minute screensaver and my monitor goes on standby after 20 minutes. When i fell asleep, my monitor was on standby (yellow LED). When I woke up it was the green turning on and off. Doesn't make much sense.

I don't have a replacement...so my situation is pretty bleek atm.

I have a Viewsonic LCD VX924 3ms that i bought around the holidays of 2005. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have recently changed my hard drive and had to reinstall all the programs on my computer. Since doing so, the Viewsonic monitor has been stuck in troubleshooting mode. All the fonts and windows are very large, and the only resolution available is 680 x 460, with the only colour option at 16 colours.

What do I do to get a better resolution with this monitor. It worked fine until the hard drive was changed.

I have downloaded the driver for the monitor from the net which was unsuccessful.

I tried changing the adapter from standard to SVGA as recommended by windows, which was rejected by the computer and I had to change it back.

Windows is not accepting the driver that I downloaded.

My monitor seems to be experiencing some kind of problem.

The best way I can describe it is as a 'widescreen' mode. There is a black bar on the top and bottom of the desktop about 1 inch wide and extending across the entire length of the screen. I cannot move the mouse into this portion of the screen.

When adjusting the horizontal and vertical settings, 100% stops with the 1 inch black bars still in place. I cannot seem to make the desktop fit the screen. It seems to have shifted into some other mode of viewing.

I called Viewsonic tech support, but they didn't really know much else to do besides checking my settings. I am at 1024 x 768 resoloution, Radeon 8500 64MB graphics card, Windows XP and have installed the most recent drivers. Even when booting - the black bars are present, as if the monitor has somehow decided that is the mode it wants to be in.

If anyone has come across something like this before or knows how I might be able to fix it, I'd be MUCH obliged!

Regards,

Jeff.

A:Viewsonic Monitor E771 Problem.

Might be starting to fail, 3 year warranty on those generally check the date on the back. Absolute easiest think to do would be to try it on another computer. On the other computer see if you square up the image with the screen if you can't then its the monitor, if you can it could be the video card.

Never mind, as quick as the problem began, it's resolved itself for some reason. Post can be deleted.

I'm having a bit of a strange issue with my ViewSonic VX2258 monitor.
Out of nowhere, the screen started to flicker (not the sort of flickering you might expect from a loose cable, but literally going completely off and back on) every few seconds. Eventually the screen did not come back on at all.
Thinking there was a loose cable, I tried tightening them but to no avail. The light on the monitor is still blue showing that it is detecting an input and Windows still detects that the monitor is plugged in.
When I turn the monitor off and on, I can see the ViewSonic logo, but oddly enough after that it is a black screen and I am unable to get any system menus to appear (the ones that are generated by the monitor itself, not the PC) or change the source. I would have thought that because of this, there is something wrong with the display but that doesn't seem to be the case considering I can see the logo upon starting the monitor. (Perhaps something to do with firmware?)
I don't think that it is a problem with my GPU as my secondary monitor (a Samsung SyncMaster) still seems to be functioning perfectly but just in case, it is a Powercolor Radeon R9 290X and my drivers are all up to date.
Thanks for the help!

I need help in making my mind up between the gorgeous Lg 1981Q and the attractive Viewsonic Vx924.

I have recently upgraded my desktop and am thinking about shifting to dual screen, mainly for video and web editing (with a little bit of gaming on the side) and need help in picking out new monitor.

one of my problems is that the looks of the tft is very important to me, cos i cant look at something ugly all the time, i would like a tft which is slim and very sexy (just how i like my women )

If anybody owns either of these screens i would really appreciate their feedback, on how good the monitor is and if they would recommend it.

Thanks

P.s is there really that much noticable difference between 4 and 8 ms, and if so is it going to be noticable when video editing and gaming.

hi all - ive got a problem with my new viewsonic vx2753mh-led monitor. its got 2x hdmi inputs and one vga.

the vga works straight off the bat, but whenever I try and plug the hdmi in it just says no input signal detected and goes black

I noticed in device manager that this was installed as 'generic non-pnp monitor' so after jumping through some hoops i managed to install the driver as 'viewsonic vx2753 SERIES'
Anyway this doesnt seem to have made a difference. still no input through the hdmi.

I have tested to cord on my samsung tv and it worked fine so it can't be a problem with the cord or the graphics card....

just some general info that might be of use:
windows 7 x64
dual monitor setup

the graphics is integrated on the intel i5 chip
my display adapters in device manager says Intel(R) HD Graphics Family.
it has a dvi out, hdmi out, and vga out.

thanks for any help you can give!

A:Viewsonic LCD monitor not recognizing HDMI input signal.

I have a Viewsonic which I'm also trying to run a media PC to connected via an HDMI cable, and I have noticed the exact same thing.

It was working fine for awhile, but recently I have been receiving an error on screen saying the "HDMI to DVI cable as experienced an error" or something to that effect. Note: I am using strictly an HDMI cable, not an HDMI to DVI as the message states (can't explain why I'm getting that message). I did the same thing you did, tested the machine using the same cable on another tv, and it worked fine on the other tv. What's strange is I can connect the cable box to the tv using the identical HDMI cable and it worked fine. Tried again using the same cable from the PC to the tv, and either 1) blank screen, or 2) shrunken screen with the aforementioned error which will go blank once I open Media Center.

Sorry, I don't have an answer, but it seems to me Viewsonic hasn't made a good product in terms of connecting media PC's, for some reason. Of course, my tv is out of warranty at this point. If you find an answer, keep me posted, I'll do the same.

I have a Viewsonic VT2430 monitor/tv, and a Windows Vista 64, with ATI 4200 graphics chip PC.

Title says it all really, just put a scratch in my 3 week old monitor , mildly annoyed about it and wondering whether theres any way to make it go away. When I run my finger over it it dusn't feel like a scratch, but with the monitor off, or showing a bright white screen its quite evident, and running fingernail over it i can tell its an indentation. Against bright white it looks almost like the effect seen if theres water on your monitor (rainbowy), if that helps at all. Basically i'd just like to be not able to see it, and was wondering if you had any suggestions?

Me and my friend just finished our computer, we had a few issues with the NZXT Phantom case at first: they didn't send us a few screws so we had to go to the local tech store and buy a few, but everything worked out.

There is an option that we found: Auto Image Adjust, and I am sure this is the right one, except: it's disabled!

After I received help with an old modem and setting the IRQ and and com values, I got another problem. I found other similar threads in this category, so I put it here.

When I took the printer (not working correctly) and the modem out from the system values, when I rebooted, the monitor had no response. It sounded as if it was following the steps it had before, but the monitor had no response. I tried it on another computer and the monitor was OK. And when I tried another good monitor it did not work.

I tried removing other cards- the monitor hookup is part of the motherboard-with no luck.

As I was looking through other threads dealing with the same thing, I tried powering it up again, and it worked OK.

Is there anything I can try that might point to the problem?

I placed this at the end of a previous thread. Probably should have created a new one.

This is challenge for my technical expertise. Or maybe the phrase is technically challenged.

I don't know how to reference another thread. But previous communications are under thread titled "monitor not working wait?? ?"

For the longest time, I had to unplug the keyboard for a cold start, or "restart" instead of turning the computer completely off. Otherwise I would receive two beeps and startup would halt. Nothing appeared on the screen so I could not be sure what was happening. With the help of this site, the problem appeard to be memory.

I found something on the web to clean out the registry, and it started working normally again.

Well, now the two beeps have returned, and the keyboard unplugging won't even work. I was not installing any new software or hardware recently.

I downloaded a program to check memory. It ran for a couple of days and found no problems. I've changed the order and number of memory sticks. No change. Taken out all PCI cards. Unplugged D drive. Said a few words.

When I insert a diskette that should be read first (like an emergency start-up) still get the two beeps.

Before I drop back 15 yards and see how far I can kick the box, anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the help

Basically, when I enter a game in fullscreen mode, the screen goes black and does its adjustment thing, and during that 2 second process, there seems to be a 50% chance where i can hear the fan in my computer go woosh for a second, and my screen just crashes, giving me the signal detected message. but I cant do anything and have to cut power restart.

I noticed however, turning off my monitor increases the chances of success. if i can predict when the game is about to do the adjustment, let say when I am in game and i am about to choose fullscreen gaming or windowed gaming, i can hold my mouse at the OK button then turn off my monitor, click my mouse, and wait for the audio to go out and back in as the game adjusts. Same thing with starting up a game with no window mode option or the initial launch of a new game, cause i get new ones alot, i line my mouse at the start button, turn off monitor, click and wait for the sound of the launch credits.

This only happens when I enter a game, never when i put a video on fullscreen or a photo on fullscreen. It's also fine if the game is on windowed mode maximized where you dont see any of the desktop.

I've read else where that perhaps my PSU is too low for my video card, and I've checked it, my PSU is 450 watt and my videocard requires 400+.

So I am stuck here, please help!

Hello Carpediem, and welcome to Eight Forums.

When Store apps are opened, they use the full display of the monitor they are opened on and cannot be changed. If you set your displays to act like one display (ex: Eyefinity), then the Store app will naturally fill all of them.

The only way to prevent this is to not have all of your displays act as one display.

If you have an image that is larger enought to display on all monitors at once, then you will still be able to set it as your desktop background for all monitors. This doesnt help wth the desktop itself though.

However, on restarting the system , I still see the blank screen. How am I supposed to proceed in this case. Also, mine is a dual booted system with Ubuntu installed. Only thing I can think of is that your video settings got changed somehow. Can you put another monitor on your machine, boot up into windows. go to start/settings/control panel/display/settings tab/advanced button/adapter tab/ in the drop down box if refresh rate is set to optimal change it to adapter default, save , shutdown and hook up the other monitor. I've got a iPod Touch 16 GB and want to fill out the memory a little with some game apps I can play during sitting in the bus.

I'm searching for a good racing game and it would be okay to pay if it's worth it - but their so many to choose between. Any tips of good racing game apps ( with many maps, choose car...) ?

Which free game app is your favorite? My favorite free game right now would be "Rat on run" by Donuts Games.

I wasn't sure if I chose the right forum for this question.

Normally, I use Chrome first because it's the fastest. Firefox is the most reliable and I use it second most (if it had the speed of Chrome, I'd completely use Firefox). IE was third for me.

however, now that I've had a chance to play around on a touch monitor...

IE10 is the only really responsive browser with the touch interface. Pinch to zoom is much more responsive than the other browsers.

Firefox does have the touch features that IE has but it's very laggy. You can zoom out or in but it takes a second to respond. So sometimes you're not sure if it recognized your touch or if it's just lagging.

I don't think Chrome has any touch features outside of scrolling the screen up and down. I was big-time disappointed by this. I hope Chrome brings it soon. No need to gimp this browser.

From what I read, Mozilla is closer to releasing a metro version of Firefox than Google is. Let's hope it has fully responsive touch like IE because I feel more comfortable with Firefox as it has better web compatibility.

I was walking through Best Buy the other day and noticed somthing that I havnt seen before or paid much attention to so if this is somthing that has been discussed before then pardon me.
HP has a few systems out that ship with touch screen monitors.

Do you think that this is somthing that can become a norm in desktop computing ? I personally think that it is cool, but as far as functuality goes there is really not a point. The monitors that I played with where really kind of had a touchy touch interface and it really didnt seem as I could do anything faster with my finger on the screen than I could do with a mouse. In my opinion, mouse control was probably twice as fast.

The only real application that I could see a touch desktop monitor used for is hands on applications for children such as paint and a few games designed around the concept or for somone that has a disability that does not let them grip a mouse functionally.

Touch panals do have their place in industry as it makes very quick work for bar tenders to select a inventoried item or any retailer/resturant for that matter or for such things as time clocks at factories so I am for it in that aspect.

I guess I just wanted some views and insight on what everyone thinks of this new concept to desktop computing and what pros and uses you can come up with.

Thanks

A:Touch Screen Desktop Monitors A Good Idea?

Hi

In the EPOS industry touch screens are standard and work best as they eliminate the keyboard which is a weak point in security, as users like to press buttons and those who are savvy can use the keyboard to do things that we as a supplier dont want them to do.

As for home use i cant see the practicality of them, no left click to start with, like you said unless someone builds a program designed and workable for a touch screen then its a no starter.

During an upgrade from XP to Windows 7 I experienced a problem with my ViewSonic vx2235wm display and NVIDIA GeForce 8400gs video card. The display is powered and the blue light comes on when the computer is starting up. I get a couple of flickers of lighter gray on the display but no picture. I have upgraded the drivers for the NVIDIA card and the display but no help. The diplay is on a DVI-D single link connector with the video card. I can hook up a Sony display to the VGA connector in the NVIDIA card and get a picture fine. Neither NVIDIA or ViewSonic have come up with anything that helps. Any suggestions?

I finally got the driver needed from ViewSonic but it took two emails and a phone call. The driver is not listed on the site but is available at: http://www.viewsonic.com/support/downloads/drivers/_download/Standard_Monitor_Driver_Signed_Win7.zip

There is also a driver for 64 bit:

I know you can use a graphics tablet, but I've never got the hang of using those.

Just wondering, if anyone does use a touch screen monitor, what one do you use or could you recommend a good one.

Can a touch Monitor be used on any computer running Win7 or 8 ??

A:Win7or 8...Touch Monitor

My understanding is the monitor can be used with either. Of course touching it with Windows 7 only creates finger prints. The monitor and the operating system both must be touch capable before touch will work. There for touch monitor and Windows 8.

HELP!
My laptop sat unactive for a week (or so) and lost battery power. Now when turning it on (after plugging in and charging battery) I can not get beyond the please wait screen. I have tried booting in safe mode and have tried last known good configuration. Still same result. It will go to Please Wait....the circle will turn.....it will flash black screen (like it is attempting to boot maybe) and then back to Please Wait.

My last resort is to try the factory recovery disks, but I am looking into other options so as not to lose pictures that may not be backed up.

I work from my computer and due to my tendinitis I'm looking into getting a touch screen monitor that is compatible with Windows Vista. My job requires mostly clicking and no much keyboard use so this would help much.

I'm looking for something under $3-400. The monitor needs to have enough precision so that I can click radio boxes. I'd also want it to be able to work when touched with something like the end of a pen, instead of my finger.

Any suggestions ?

A:Touch-Screen Monitor for Vista?

Most newer touch screens should handle that fairly easily.
For use with a pen,you would probably want to get a screen
protector and a pda or smart phone stylus.
Might check out some of these.

Probablt want to stick with a USB connection.
The serial connected monitors are old technology.
I know some say windows 7 multitouch, but they will act like a seperate
input device in vista.
Multitouch is just software functionality in windows 7.

Hi all

Just wondered if anyone knows if the duel monitor set up would work if one of the monitors was a touch screen monitor and if not why not.

Getting a 22+ inch touch screen is on my list of things to get, but they are very pricey and would like to keep my two monitor set up, but don't want to have to pay out for two touch screens when the time comes, if that is the only way it will work, if at all.

If anyone knows about if a touch screen can be part of a duel set up this info would be much appreciated.

I hope everyones Christmas time and the start of this calander New Year has been a blast.

Cheers

Serena

A:Duel Monitor set up with touch screen?

Shouldn't be a problem.
The monitor would set up like any other monitor.
The touch screen is actually a seperate device with it's
own cable and connects like another input device,
like a mouse.
Only the touch screen will have touch functionallity of course.

Do I have to have a special monitor to use touch screen in Windows 7?

A:Can I use touch screen in WIN7 on a VGA or DVI monitor.

Yes, you'll need a touchscreen enabled screen/tablet in order to use the touch features. And they you've gotta setup the 2 different kinds of touch (pen and finger).

There are tablet attachments that you can use for your system. The most common is made by Wacom and is called Bamboo: http://www.wacom.com/bamboo/index.php

Dell SX2210 Full HD 21.5 inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor Details

That would be the one I am referring to. I cannot seem to find information, about, if I bought two, and dual screen them, if they both will support touchscreen.

Just curious, if anyone has one of these and know the answer let me know please.

A:Anyone own the Dell SX2210T Multi-Touch Monitor?

Title: Excellent monitor, with one main problem Date: March 21, 2010
Product Uses: software development and testing

Review:The touch technology is as expected based on others I have played with (Sony, HP). I bought this for the sole purpose of testing multi touch applications, and it is working great for that purpose. It is a great looking monitor with an excellent crisp and vivid picture. The main con is that it is massivly reflective. Even in a dark room, I can see my own face from the light the monitor gives off. I imagine this is to make the coating so your fingers glide on it easily, but that is just a guess. I'd give it 5 stars if it were not so reflective.

Because it is reflective, I would not want it to be my primary monitor. However, you must note that if it is a second monitor (as in 2 of 2 in the display settings), the touch software will register your touches only on monitor #1 of 2. That is frustrating. So when I really need the touch, I go into the display settings and make it the primary monitor (1 of 2) insted of the second. 11 of 11 people found this review helpful.

A:Pavilion 23tm monitor doesn't respond to touch

I just went through two rounds of technicians updating drivers.  Enabling and disabling devices.  Nothing seemed to help.  I notified the techicians I was connected via a HDMI cable.  Windows reported no touch input available on this computer.  In the System Information screen. I suddenly realized, hey, didn't this monitor come with a USB cable?  Plugged it in, and it started working after a re-boot.  Duh.  None of the technicians asked about the usb cable.  They concluded it was a bad monitor.

Hi there @jwpeart, May the Forums be with you!  It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel.  I understand that you are trying to get your touch screen to work with your desktop system.  I am happy to help with this. Please post the full product number and operating system in use on your computer. It would not work with the touch screen functions. Please let me know when you can, the model information for the computer and the type of display connections available. So I went to NEC's website and installed the driver. This driver is not an exe. file. Instead, it's a zip. file that contains 3 system files (see attached).

I am thinking I might have installed this driver incorrectly. I just clicked the Cat file and installed the certificate.

Right now, I can my monitor to view but the touching function is not working, forcing me to use a mouse for control. Can anyone Help me fix this problem?? thank you!
