[SOLVED] Vista Installation/Uninstallation Error (2503 & 2502)

Q: [SOLVED] Vista Installation/Uninstallation Error (2503 & 2502)

For some reason, any attempt using an installer is stopped by errors 2503 and 2502.
Error 2503: Called RunScript when not marked in progress.
Error 2502: Called InstallFinalize when no install in progress.

I am unable to install anything now, as all installers cease to work. I've tried googling this problem but none are very helpful. Any help is appreciated.

Also, the problem arises for installers running UNDER vista, not installing vista itself, just to clarify.

Hello everyone. This is my first thread and would really appreciate and responses and help.

Here is my problem. I am trying to download a Citrix program for my Wife. Her work provides it for her but I keep getting the error 2502 and 2503 error codes. I tried going to windows properties and security tab to allow permissions but I cant even make any changes in there. I cant click on the either the allow or deny square boxes. Nothing happens. Seems as though I dont have permission to do it.

Any help?? Thank you

A:Error code 2502 and 2503 [moved from Vista/7]

What is your OS ? So your wife user name must be administrator rights. Also check your windows update important and optional.

Then if you use HTTPS have to add on the IE option security section trust site than you might use citrix. Also before all that reset your internet Setting. INTERNET OPTIONS\ADVANCE TAB AND RESET TO DEFAULT AND RESTART YOUR BROWSER.

I'm getting that error, and cannot install *any* MSI installers, including the MS ones for the Windows Installer cleaner. I've followed You receive a "Called RunScript when not marked in progress" error message during the installation of Office XP or Office 2000, and it has not helped. Permissions on the Local/Temp folder are full for both system and administrator. I'm running as Admin, UAC is disabled entirely.

Any ideas? This is incredibly frustrating and I can't install anything at all. This happened abruptly, I think there was a corrupt section on the drive, Windows wouldn't boot, and I did a Startup Repair, and everything has been working. The time was reset to 2001, but I corrected that, and a day later tried to install something with this problem.

Thanks,

Running XP Home, Version 2002, Service Pack 2. Had to turn off automatic updates as it continually downloaded IE7 which did not seem compatable as my programs started showing errors.
Uninstalled IE7.
Researching left me with the impression the error regarded Windows installer. I downloaded KB893803-V2-86 EXE. Still get the error whenever trying to download any programs.
One suggestion was to download REG CURE to resolve issue. 29.95 and 795 errors later and I still have the problem. After 5 runs on Reg Cure it finally showed no problems!
Sorry to say I still get the error report.
I have googled this and find numerous responses which are all over my head! Any simple explanation without getting into the registry?

Thanks in advance!

So, I tried to uninstall each to reinstall and I couldn't uninstall either. I got the same errors. I went to Microsoft and ran their fixit for the problem but it still isn't fixed. They uninstalled the programs fine but I can't reinstall without the error message coming up.

When I try to install I receive the message internal error 2503 followed by internal error 2502. I have been trying to fix this problem for a few weeks and have tried the following.

Resetting date and time settings

Closing down Internet Explorer in the details menu of task manager, then running Internet Explorer as administrator

I have run various registry checking software and anti virus with no result.

There doesn't seem to be any solution I can find and any help would be greatly appreciated as I have just started studying Computing and need this software on my laptop to study.

Hello Rohidriod,

Firstly you can try registering Windows Installer.

a) On the "Start" menu, click "Run.

b) In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.

c) On the "Start" menu, click "Run".

d) In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /regserver", and then press ENTER.

Then try unstinall again.

If that does not work try this:
You will be able to find the msi for crysis 2 located:
C:\windows\installer
^ you may need to show hidden files and system files if you where going to try browse directly.

Alternatively, You can bring up Run ( + R) enter the path "C:\windows\installer" click ok and it should navigate there.

To be able to see which MSI for Crysis2 you need you are going to have to change you folder view settings:

Now select the column "Subject", click ok

You will now be able to see which MSI correlates to crysis2
Now find your Crysis msi right click properties check security is adequate then ok out of that window. From here you should be able to right click the msi and press "Uninstall"

Hope that helps,

Cheers,
Harry

Hey all.

Today I did a fresh install of Windows 8 build 9200 and I'm really liking it. However, there's one small problem: a lot of software can't be installed due to the repeating occurrence of error codes 2503 and 2502.

2503: something about Runscript
2502: something about InstallFinalize

I read that this happens because of an incorrect system date and time, but they are in fact accurate on my machine.

Hi, I know there are a couple threads on this, but I am having a lot more issues than others (or so i believe). Whenever I attempt to install iTunes, or any other programs, a window pops up telling about an error 2503, and then another window pops up telling me about an error 2502. Keep in mind, all the users on my computer have ownership of files (I'm pretty sure).

Check that the Date in the machine is correct.

Have you also tried right-clicking on a Uninstall.exe, or Setup.exe, and choosing the "Run As Administrator" option?
If you type %temp% in the Start RUN box you could clean out all the temp files (that are able to be deleted), Programs dump a lot of files in there with each failed attempt.

As part of one of my courses, I have to install ArcGIS onto my laptop (Vista). But, halfway through installation, I get a pop-up window saying "Internal Error 2503", then when I close that window, it says "Internal Error 2502".

Next, it cancels the entire installation.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

A:Internal Errors 2503 and 2502?

Check the NTFS security on the %systemroot%\WINDOWS\Installer folder Browse to C:\Windows\Installer and right click it Properties go to the Security Tab It should at least have the following perms set:

Administrators Full Control
System Full Control
Users Read& Execute.

Something, probably malware, hosed my security on the folder and removed the Administrators and Users perms. Once I gave it the above perms the installer msi packages started working again.

Also check the Registry permsions for the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer

They should be set similar.

Since upgrading to Windows7 I have been unable to update software; at each attempt, I receive first a 2503 then a 2502 error, without explanation.
-date and time are correct
-happens whether virus and firewall are on or off

-attempting to use the uninstaller program also fails.

This is clearly a common problem judging by the number of queries, but I have yet to see any coherent solutions posted.

A:2502, 2503 errors on Windows 7

Try these methods.

Quote:
Method 1
Unregister Windows Installer, and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:

1. On the "Start" menu, click "Run.

2. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.

3. On the "Start" menu, click "Run".

4. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /regserver", and then press ENTER.

Method 2

Check permissions within the Installer folder. To do this, follow these steps.

1. Click on Start and in the Start Search bar > type in > c: /windows/installer.

2. Right click on c: /windows/installer at the top under programs and click properties.

3. Click on the security tab > Verify if System and Administrator account has Full access permissions.

4. The Everyone account should have read and execute permissions, List Folder Contents, and Read.

This began with my loss of access to an HP 8610 network printer. No matter what I did, I could not regain access. Two other PCs on my home network still access that printer just fine. I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer but still have no ability to print to it. I can even send it a fax and use it to scan, but it refuses to print.

That is where my problem began. Then I tried to update one of the programs that I own, Calibre. When I did, the microsoft installer stopped, first with error 2503 then with 2502. And I said HUH? Same thing happens with a number of other programs. Now, I have been using them and updating them just fine until some time in January. I don't do a lot of printing so it might have been screwed up earlier than mid-January, but that is when I first noticed it.

I run Norton so I did an entire system scan and found nothing. I ran Norton eraser. That found nothing too.

I ran Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool. That found nothing.

I enabled the hidden Administrator account in Windows 10. From there, I could update Calibre. The Microsoft Installer seemed to work just fine. (I am testing this problem using this program as Calibre sends an MSI file to do its update.).

This problem appears to be related to permissions but from here I am lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Method 1 via GPO:

Hello, here is an odd problem I'm having.
Today my new DVD drive arrived. I went to install it in my computer. I have an Aopen KF45A case, with an Epox 8kha+ motherboard. As you probably are aware, the Aopen Case has 3 drive bays for CD/DVD drives.
When we bought the PC, we bought it with one Sony CD-ROM. However a few months ago we purchased a Aopen CD-writer and installed that in the second bay. The third bay cannot fit anything in it as the motherboard is too large and trying to jam a DVD drive into the bay will break the board.
I knew this before I purchased my new DVD drive, however I planned to take out the Sony CD-ROM and replace it with the DVD-Drive. I am having trouble getting the CD-ROM out of the bay. It has 4 screws holding it in place, two on one side and two on the other. The chassis on the case only comes off on one side (the other side seems to be stuck and I'm not sure if forcing it is a good idea). I can undo the two screws I can see, but the two on the far side are too hard to reach.
Is there some screws in the case I can undo which will give me access to the other side of the case? I've had a good search inside the case but I am yet to find a way to unscrew these two screws.
I hope you can help, thanks.

This question is probably more appropriate for Spybot's own forum, but I can't get on their site today.

I have Windows XP. I had Spybot-S&D 160 and want to upgrade to 162. I uninstalled 160 through Add/Remove Programs. After the uninstallation, it said not all components were removed, but it didn't say which ones. So I just tried to manually delete the Spybot folder, but I couldn't because some dll file cannot be deleted.

I tried to just install Spybot 162, but it says the dll is read-only and wants to know what to do. Heck if I know!

Anyone familiar with this? What should I do?

Thanks,

I would reinstall it first reboot and then try to uninstall it again, maybe from the Programs menu using their uninstall. Suggestion though? Spybot is really old technology and www.superantispyware.com is so much a better more timely product.

Over the past few days, I have had many problems with Java.

These problems started when I tried to play an online game called minecraft (easy to play and so simple, its fun). The box for the game (using java) never showed up. It was odd because I had never had the problem. My immediate reaction was to uninstall Java, and then reinstall it.

While uninstalling I got error 1723, which lead me to believe there was a problem with Windows Installer, which I found it did not have. I got this error multiple times. In my frustration I decided to go into my program files folder and delete the entire Java directory, even though I knew it would only make matters worse.

After deleting the directory, I tried my luck at reinstalling Java. Sadly, no luck. I am now unable to use Java, and I am unable to play or host a server for Minecraft.

Any help on fixing this problem is much appreciated. thanks in advance.

Summary: It all happened yesterday when I re-installed my Windows XP Professional SP3 when I installed Java. The first installation was a success, but I noticed I downloaded an outdated version of Java Runtime Enviornment, so I headed back to where I downloaded Java the first time, and downloaded the newest version.
I'll just let the screenshots talk at this point..

NOTICE: Problem is currently occuring on my newly installed Windows XP Professional SP3.

Screenshot 1:

Screenshot 2:

(Despite a previous version of Java already existing on my Operating System, the warning still pops-up. Annoying, eh?)

Scrreenshot 3:

Image Description: Unfortunately, as with all things, problems can occur when you least anticipate them.

Well, there you have it. Problems seem to moreso befall me than anyone else, and Java is seamlessly furthering my disgust.
I need the latest version of Java Runtime Enviornment to perform some vital tasks I need done to help transfer my files from my previous installation of Windows XP onto my newest installation.
Also, I would prefer more than one possible solution. I'm mentioning this because if one things fails to operate or run in your favour, you deserve to have a multitude of pos... Read more

Hi, this is on Windows 8.1 Pro, 64 bit. Anytime I try to install something I get that installer error, 2503, and then the install exits. I've searched quite a bit for this but no love.
Any ideas?

A:Error 2503

Have you tried running the install as 'Administrator'?

You could try:
1. Goto TaskManager > Details > Explorer.exe & click on End Task.
2. Now Click on File in Task Manager > type Explorer.exe -- Check the box below shows as ( Create this task with administrative privileges.)
3. Now install.

Hi Guys,

I have a problem installing Windows Vista. The installation process works fine until after the 1st reboot that goes to "completing installation". It completely freezes at that point and after 1 hour or so goes to a black screen where i can see nothing but my mouse pointer.

I just got my laptop 2 days ago and it's brand new Vista compatible. In fact it came with Vista installed and it was working perfectly fine until I decided to reformat it so that I could check if my new hd i tried installing was the main reason for this installation failure.

I saw a post with similar problems explaining that the BIOS was in need to be updated, but my BIOS is up to date and vista compatible.

My laptop specs are as follows:

Inspiron 1720, Intel Core 2 Duo T7500, 2.2GHz, 800Mhz, 4M L2 Cache
2GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2
256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600
17.0 inch Wide Screen UXGA+ TLLCD
Integrated 10/100 Network Cardand Modem,
8X DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive
Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy

Can someone please help me out! Thanks.

I purchased an Acer Aspire 5570Z yesterday with Vista already installed on it. Now, I had every intention to uninstall it after purchasing it. I have backed up all my drivers and have searched at length about how one goes about uninstalling this wretched program from my computer - and now I have come to you.I began by doing as told to do in this tutorial: http://www.maximumpcguides.com/uninstall-windows-vista/Then, I looked at the entire thread here: http://forums.cnet.com/5208-12546_102-0.ht...ssageID=2460401Neither has addressed this problem.I have Windows Vista Home Premium, and intend on installing Windows XP Service Pack 2. While following the instructions from the first link, when prompted to "repair my computer" I am asked to sign in as administrator. Now. I am the administrator, defaulted. What could this mean? I have no floppy disc so I can not make a boot disc. I want to format this computer but nothing I can find is answering the question: How do I uninstall Windows Vista?Could I format with http://dban.sourceforge.net/ DBAN to leave the computer nubile and allow me to install XP undaunted?Do I risk damaging the wireless network capabilities - even with backed up drivers on a CD? (Entire System 32 Drivers folder, to be exact)Should I, rather than DBAN, use the reformatting tool in Windows Vista "My Computer"?I have no data on this machine that I would miss.

A:Odd Uninstallation Problems With Vista

Wow if you only got the laptop yesterday and want to unistall Vista...do you think you have given it a chance? Oh well I gather this is a new PC, link 1 is only for operating systems that had XP installed, then had Vista installed after...and personally I wouldnt do that. The second link is roughly how to format Vista (you do it with your XP cd). I wouldnt touch the 3 rd link. The drivers you have saved are for Vista not XP so you will need to download all new drivers.

A:installation error (after installation of vista)

Hi, I assume you want to get rid of Vista and start over? If so, you should be able to boot from your Windows XP CD, remove all partitions on the hard disk, reformat and install Windows XP.

If this doesn't work, you may want to download the low level format utility from your hard disk manufacturer's website to give you a clean disk, then try the above again.

After right-clicking the list item "SpoofTel Destop and selecting "Uninstall," Windows displays an error message reading, "dfsvc.exe has stopped working; A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Download the latest AVG Free installation package from AVG Free 7.5
Run the AVG Free install file and choose the Uninstall option and follow the setup wizard, when you get to the part to remove user settings, select it.
Restart your computer and if you want to reinstall, reinstall AVG using the setup file you got and update it.
You might want to try all this in safe mode.

I just made a terrible mistake. I was installing AVG free antivirus, because my existing Norton Internet Security expired. After downloading data, it directs me to uninstall existing antivirus first, which I accept. Now while the uninstallation begins, I reconsider and cancel the process by using task manager (close button was unabled). But now Windows security center warns that theres no antivirus programe found. neither can I find Norton Internet Security amongs the isntalled progrmames. I dont know what to do. Can you please help med to solve this annoying problem?

A:NEED HELP! Uninstallation error of Internet Security

Sounds like it wont show up becuase the way you stopped it, it would have been half way or so through deleting norton and you used task manager which would essentially stop it dead in its tracks and leave you with just partial files.

So I guess your options would be to either go back and install norton again or get a free AV prog* like AVG or Comodo.

For the past 2 weeks I've been getting a .dll error on startup.

At first I didn't notice anything wrong (aside from that, obviously) but now the icons for Office, Skype, Messenger, Adobe Reader, and quite a few other programs, have stopped working. The programs themselves are fine. I realised that they're all programs that came with the OS when I installed it; all the shareware I have is ok. I concluded that there must've been an error in the installation. Correct?

I don't really want to reinstall Windows, even with the repair install, because my disk is partitioned (and I think some people have had problems with that) and I'm scared it'll screw up my connection (it's something that happens every time I so much as blink at it, so paranoia is justified).

So I thought, Ah ha! I shall uninstall the programs (none of them are paid for, after all) and then reinstall the lot. Eureka. But -joy oh joy- some of them can't be uninstalled. I get the following error:

Or, in the case of Office, a polite refusal. Uninstallation didn't work, sorry mate.

Argh.

Additional: now Secunia PSI (just installed) has no icon. Which it did, 2 min ago. This is getting scary.

A:Mysterious error and uninstallation problems

I suggest a system files check. Open an elevated command prompt and enter sfc /scannow.

Also try a repair install. It shouldn't cause any problems, but in the rare event it does, we'll be sure to get them sorted out for you.

Last night I attempted to install Vista SP2 and after a couple of hours of waiting, the upgrade apparently failed and my PC informed me it was rolling back to SP1. Now when I try to boot up, I get a small dialog box which says "Windows Activation - Reinstall Windows" followed by "Windows must be reinstalled to activate. Insert the Windows installation DVD or CD into your computer to begin the reinstallation process."

Clearly I don't want to do a clean reinstall. Any advice about how I can get around this problem? The system actually seems to be working just fine in the background.

Ok so I installed Vista Beta 2 Build 5472, with absolutely NO PROBLEMS. When build 5536 came out I decided to try it out so i downloaded it. Since this was on a dual boot system with Server 2003 x64 (with each OS on a seperate HDD, and when i installed vista i unpluged all other drives so there was no boot screen, i used BIOS boot to boot into each OS) I formated the build 5472 Drive from within windows. I then booted up the installation with the 5536 DVD and started to do a clean install.

Now My Problem: It gives an error similar to this, The required files were not found, The file does not exist. Error code 0x80070002 (this is not 100% exact but is close enough). I get this error usually when the "Expanding files" progress is either 1% or around 18% (sometimes it manages to get to 18 about, but rarely). When i get this error i can press "OK" and it takes me back to the initial "Install" Screen, where i can put in my serial key again, and select clean install etcetc, but if i do that, when i get to the select disks part again, now the disks don't show, i have to reboot to get them to show again. The error just keeps happening again.

To clear up some things. The previous install couldn't have done anything becasue after getting the errors constantly, i tried reinstalling build 5472 again, and it worked. Also it can't be the DVD because I used that same DVD and installed build 5536 in VMWare Server using the actual DVD, no douwnlo... Read more

I have a copy of windows vista ultimate 32bit. I began the installation process. It gets to the driver installation screen. I click on scan and it proceeds to scan the computer for drivers. After it finishes the scan I get the following error message:

"No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK."

Now I have asked a buddy about this. He has had the exact same problem and corrected it using the Motherboard disc. He said that this error occurs when windows cannot find the correct drivers, but I was under the impression that it listed the drivers that it was missing. It didnt, and so Im stumped.

I do not have the motherboard disc so I am going to search online and find an ISO for it and burn it on a disc and see if that works. If not I will then go into the device manager and manually update all of the drivers.

I would like to know if this is the route I should be taking. Has anyone else experienced this problem before?

Thanks for all who reply.

Hello and welcome to TSF.

Do you have a repair partition installed (most OEM computers do) or an installation CD? If so, boot from the CD and choose Repair your computer from the Install screen, then run a System Restore.

If you don't have the CD but still have access to the System Recovery Options, can you actually get to a command prompt or do you crash before? You can try running the restore from the command prompt: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...-Windows-Vista

Can you boot into Safe Mode?

It could be a bad burn. Microsoft recommends buring at the slowest speed your drive supports. Vista uses a new UDF format which may cause problems with some DVD burning programs and some drives. Burning at a slower speed seems to work.

Hi guys
after installing the trial version of Photoshop CS4 on my vista -64 bit , I've received this error message on starting photoshop CS4

I've tried re-installing ...but it didn't help

please tell me what to do

A:installation error - photoshop CS4 on windows vista 64 bit

You may have tried this already, in which case I apologize for assuming, but here's what I got from Adobe:

Run the CS4 Clean Script

Also after you run the clean script, delete the database located at

c:\programs (x86)\common\adobe\caps\caps.db

If a directory/the file doesn't exist disregard. After this you *should* be able to reinstall CS4 without issue.

I AM NOT REPEATING A THREAD BUT TRYING TO UNDERLINE A PARTICULAR POINT. Recently I uninstalled Mozilla 2 and installed 3. After making a cleaning with a most good application I "magically" got Mozilla 2 again. This makes me thinking what kind of uninstallation was that above mentioned? Was just some sort of icons delete? Where was the previous Mozilla 2 remaining? Must I remain with Model 2 in order to avoid future deletions? Sorry for this 'apparent' underlying, but it's important for me. Many thanks and greetingsd

A:Solved: Mozilla 2 uninstallation

I see that it's mandatory that this forum works just on weekends and I understand. This trouble was already solved. The issue was that when uninstalling Mozilla 2 it didn't actually uninstalled and, then Spybot deleted Mozilla 3. Now everything is going excellent. My hard disk is not defectuous; it was just a worm trouble. Many thans, Kind regards for everybody.

I get the message

Windows failed to start a recent hardware or software change might be the cause.

File: \boot\BCD
Status: 0xc000000f

info: an error occured while attempting to read the boot configuration data.

Now i see alot of threads with this issue, but everyone seems to have an installation disc for vista. How do i solve it without a disc? Last time this happened i did as the screen told me and went to my computer manufacturer and they told me to do f12 or one of the f keys or something, thought i dont remember evrything they told me. Please answer.

A:How do i solve the \boot\BCD error in vista WITHOUT an installation disc

ok i actually called the manufacturer and specified that i was using vista on a packard bell. Threy told me to repeatedly press f11 before any screen showed up. Solved the problem from the menu there.

so i guess, if you have this problem on a packard bell pc using vista. press f11 before it shows you the menu.

While updating HP Active Support Library in windows vista home premium it downloads and checks for space allocation and then gives me Error 1316.A network error while attempting to read from file c:\windows\installer\HP active support library.msi Then after the rolling back action I receive Error-1603-Fatal-error during installation consult windows installer help (msi.chm) or msdn for more information. I have tried to go to the latter but have been unsuccessful in eliminating this problem. Is there anything that can be done short of restoring my laptop back to its original out of the box settings?

Hi Techguys,
I am in deep doo-doos. I have two machines. One running windows 7 the other- this one- running windows XP. The problem is with the win7 machine. It is a MEDION Pentium dual-core CPU [email protected]. Installed Mem. 3.00GB. 32-bit OS. McAfee security.
I am unable to create an internet connection. When I try to use the Rom drive I get 'The specified service does not exist as an installed device'. When I looked into the Device Manager, the page was empty. Not a device listed. I also tried various other security applications but it will not allow me to install them. I even tried to re-insall windows 7, but of course it doesn't recognise the rom drive.
Please, Please, say you can help!!!

I have Windows XP Home installed on my computer as my OS.

Recently, I've been cleaning out my computer by uninstalling programs that I haven't used for a while. However, the uninstallation of some programs fails.

For example, I have a software called JapaneseNow! (to learn Japanese) installed on my computer. However, trying to uninstall it pops up the error message that "Uninst.isu" cannot be found and therefore the uninstallation cannot continue. I already cleared off a software called SpanishNow! beforehand, which may have caused Uninst.isu to be cleared.

Another example I have is uninstalling an older version of Firefox. I currently have version 1.5.0.9 installed on my computer, but 1.0.2 is still installed and I cannot remove it (something about Uninstall Log Folder not found). This is some sort of registry problem, I believe.

I ran RegistrySmart and then uninstalled it after it fixed like 70 problems. My computer is still working fine. However, RegistrySmart picked up about a thousand problems, which I couldn't fix without upgrading to the paid version.

Can anyone recommend a safe and free registry fix program? I don't want the program to kill my computer, either.

Thanks a bunch guys.

Set the machine up, plugged it in via direct USB connection to the computer. The printer seemed to install correctly, as Vista regnized the model and the popup in the system tray indicated that the drivers had been successfully installed. The printer appeared in the Printers folder. Printing a test page resulted in the error message "Test page failed to print. Access is denied." Printing also failed from all applications (Word, Excel, Firefox, Acrobat...) Error messages ranged from "Unknown Error" to "There are no printers installed." There does not appear to be any spooling occurring, as the printer icon never appears in the System Tray, not even for a moment.

Can anyone please help me on this, this is the second printer im setting up, i just returned a canon pixma printer yesterday thought it was a driver issue not compatible with vista but it is also occuring to my new epson nx 330 series

2 things to check.

1 Is the spooler service started?

To do this click on your window start orb then type in services.msc in your "start search" box.
click on nam,e to put everything in alpabetical order and press P. Ensure Print Spooler has been enabled.
Next ensure that you have installed the printer as administrator.

Hi Members, my computer was attacked last week with some kind of virus. First I could not download any updates, but after running some Malware tools, I was able to download all the important and optional updates from Microsoft.
One thing I did (mistake) was to uninstall MSE when working on it, in the hope that I would be able to re-install it.
These are some of the virus I found, Trojan.Vundo and also Trojan.P2P.worm, I am going to paste all the logs from the tools I run on the machine down here:
Please help anyone.
I have used all the tools from bleeping to clean any old antvirus(which I have never had since back 2007), the computer is updated but, I cannot get to install MSE.

Installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 fails everytime on my PC. It stops on the very first step (Runtime Pre-requisites). When I took a look at the error report, I found out that the error code was (Can you believe my luck!) 1603. It just means "Fatal Error during installation" (Or does it?).

After this, I tried to intall this software after uninstalling VC++ 2005 and deleting all of the related files too but it didn't work either. I gathered from the installation log that the installation just did diddly-squat at the very first step. Anyway, I am attaching the installation logs for analysis. Please help me!

Hi;
Am attempting to delete three old zip/unzip driver folders so I can install updated versions of the drivers, but every time I go to delete, a warning pops-up stating ...."nothing to do"......,
then it slowly (crawls, actually) begins, stating..... "deleting from archive". The files are full, so there's obvious data that needs to be removed despite the warning that there's nothing to do.
At the speed this thing is deleting, if at all, it will take days. My question is, why can't I do a
conventional uninstall/deletion the way most files are deleted, and why is it requiring so much time? (FYI, once this process starts, the only way to stop it is to do a CTRL-ALT-DELETE- just canceling doesn't do a thing), I have to remove thes drivers before installing the new versions. Is there another method of removing these files that I'm missing? I'd genuinely appreciate any and all suggestions-
Many thanks in advance

My printer driver has somehow become corrupted, and now I cannot even uninstall it to do a clean install. Does anyone know how to manually uninstall (i.e. files/registry entries to delete) a print driver? Thanks.

A:Solved: Manual Uninstallation of Print Driver

Download and install and use the free version of Revo Uninstaller 1.91.

After you start it and it displays your list of programs and drivers, select the driver you want to uninstall, then click the "Uninstall" button.

If you're prompted to restart the computer to complete the uninstall, don't!

Select all the bolded registry entries that are displayed, then remove them.

Select all the leftover files and folders that are displayed, then remove them.

After all that is done, restart the computer.

I am unable to uninstall my "Autobahn accelerator" program. When I start the process on the Windows XP "Add & Remove Program" site, it gets stuck about a third of the way through and keeps going thru the same files very rapidly. It also freezes my computer, and I am unable to turn it off. I can only do that by unplugging it from the wall outlet! I have tried this many times with the same results. I also tried installing a new auobahn program and then uninstalling it- but I get the same results. What to do?

Hi, and welcome to TSF!

You couldn't uninstall the 32 bits office 2007? So the standard way didn't work? (Start> Control panel> software>remove a program) retry it once more. If I'm correct you will get some sort of error message if you indeed cannot remove the program this way.

Good luck

Hello all.

I'm posting for a friend who is having a problem installing Windows Vista 5308 onto his eMachines T3092. First, here are his specs:
1.3 gHz AMD Athlon 3000+
nForce 2 Motherboard
1024 megs of RAM (upgraded from 512)
GeForce4 MX Integrated Graphics (he told me that he also had tried using an AGP GeForce2 MX card)

Here is the problem. He has taken out his good hard drives (2 160 gigs) and replaced them with a Dell 40gig hard drive that he had taken out of one of his other computers. He formatted the Dell drive prior to installation. He boots up the computer and presses a key when it says "press any key..." and it goes to Windows is Loading Files. This lasts for about 5 minutes or so (not too bad) and then the crystal background comes up after a while. For at LEAST 30 minutes, only the crystal background appears. He can move the mouse around, but there is nothing to click on. The light on the DVD drive showing that it is reading the DVD goes on and off for these 30 minutes. After this time, it finally comes up with the Installation screen. He clicks Install Now and another 10 minutes pass for starting installation. Then, he types in his CD Key and clicks Next. After about 15 seconds or so, it comes up with the error:
An Internal error occurred while displaying the image selection wizardClick to expand...

He tried it several times, he burned it to 2 other DVDs. It is currently on a DVD-R, a DVD+R, and another DVD+R burned at 1x. Yet nothing works. Al... Read more

Vista will NOT work in a virtual machine, unless he has the trial VM that is only available to MS employees and a few other 'trusted' people.
The DVD drive is NOT the problem. If he has a problem and is a registered beta tester, he already has the correct route for reporting it directly to the beta test team, who will give advise.

I purchased a brand new Sony Viao AW31JZ/B with Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit.
I have been trying to instal Adobe CS3 on it for the past 20 hours, with no avail. In my first attempt, I failed to install the CS3 Suite. I had a blue screen error, after which I uninstalled the application, and then attempted reinstall again.
This time however, in the CS3 Suite, I deselected the Acrobat and the Adobe Cue Server options, keeping Photoshop, Illustrator and Indes. selected.
I succeeded. I even installed Flash 8, and all of it worked fine.
My Sony system had an Adobe PDF 9.1.0 pre-installed in it.
I "assumed" that it was not allowing me to instal Acrobat 8.0. Professional, which is part of the CS3 Suite, because Acrobat 9.1.0 was already installed.
So, I removed it. Then I downloaded the trial version of Acrobat 9.0 from the Adobe website and tried to install it.
I tried hopelessly for the next 5-6 hrs. Each time I got a Blue Screen (BSOD) error.
I called up Adobe and they recommended that I use the Windows Utility Cleanup, followed by the Adobe CS3 and CS4 registry cleaners.
I downloaded both, installed both and successfully ran both.
However, I am still unable to install it.
The problem has WORSENED now, because now, it does not allow me to install ANY ADOBE SOFTWARE. I do not get a Blue Screen, but when I run the Adobe CS3 Suite Installer (selecting the original options of Photoshop/ Illus/ Indesign) it only installs "Shared Components" and says that the re...
