Hi, it seems that I keep having problems with my HP envy m6 notebook PC (windows 8). I have had this computer for 2 years and it keeps breaking down on me! I was using it this morning around 9:30 AM, and it was running fine, and it was charged. I turned the computer off, then headed to my class. Once I got out of class I went to turn on my computer and it would not turn on! I tried taking out my battery and putting it back in and turning it on, taking the battery out completely and turn it on with the charger hooked up, I even took out the battery, unplugged it and pressed the power button for a minute then put the battery and charger back in and tried turning it on and still nothing! This is very frusterating as I am a college student and I need this laptop for classes and I can't afford to have my computer break down on me anymore! Will someone please help me?! P.S. My led light when my charger was plugged in was not turning on either, and the power adaptor was not warm when plugged in, I don't know if this is one of the reasons why my computer will not turn on.

A problem has recently developed with my Envy notebook.   About 2 weeks ago my entire wireless network began slowing down when on it.   Noticeable on all devices.    When my provider came out, checked and tweaked some issues it appeared to be ok.   I went on with my daughers HP laptop and was drawing 20-24 mbps all over the house. When I reconnected mine to the system I was only pulling 6, 3, 5, up and down.   It doesn't start right away but after a few minutes.   So I put my duaghers right next ot mine and low and behold, when I ran her's it pulled 3 - 6 also.   So I turned my wi-fi off and hers' popped right back up.   I have also tried this with an old XP mini, my i-pads etc.   As soon as mine gets on the network the speed crashes.    This also happens with no one else home and no other devies conncted. I have downloaded the latest up to date Intel driver for this network adapter and it hasn't changed anything. Any ideas?

Recently noticed the notebook wasn't aligned to my desk. Thought the feet on the bottom were uneven. They're fine. The notebook seems to have a "bubble" on the keyboard where it's higher than the rest of the keyboard. Obviously it's impacting the entire notebook since it's no longer sitting level. I'm concerned it's going to impact the performance of the keyboard and the fact that it's not even and "rocks" when I'm typing is driving me crazy.   Can someone please direct me on how this can be repaired. It was purchased new in 2013.

Two screws have fallen out on the bottom of my computer...now it is almost falling apart and will not open half of the time.  I took it to a repair place today and the guy said this is the 4th computer of the same kind that he has seen this month with the same issue.  He said the plastic and/or screws are stripped and there is really nothing you can do for it so I should be looking into buying a new computer within the next few months because one day I will open it and my screen will come apart from the keyboard.... I can assure you that when/if I have to get a new computer it will NOT be an hp.  This computer is less than two years old, has never been dropped and if I take it anywhere its in a padded case!! This is ridiculous considering how much I paid for it!!!  Any suggestions on how to fix this issue because apparently talking to anyone at hp is impossible...  Has anyone else had this issue?  I am so frustrated, I use my computer for school and don't need it to fall apart on me when other than being made crappy, its been treated perfectly.

I bought this product just 2 years before and I already spent almost 200 extra. The machine itself costing me 699 + 200 means it is worth of 899. But now agian got another problem, because of heating in the system left side is broken and I need to replace whole case. When I called them they said your machine is out of warrenty so I need to pay extra 75 and then they will chek what happed and again I need to pay repairing cost. Means the total machine cost is more that 1000, which is worthless. In the same amout I can go for mackbook which is atleast don't make any problem for 6 years.  So I decided not waste money on HP product. Supprot system is totaly worst. Never buy any hp product

I connect my HP to my auxillery for my stereo to listen to music thru my stereo speakers.  The sound is very poor quality.  I run other items through my auxillery and it is fine - only when I connect my HP to it.

I have this HP Envy m6-n113dx i purchased this notebook on November 2015.  The problem my laptop hinge left side.  No falls, drops, or damage. Everything works fine except for this hinge .I do know that my pc is out of warrenty, however this is a common manufactor issue. When i check that my warranty expire last month ago april 20 2016. I would like for my notebook to be repaired so please hp help me.

I am incredibly disappointed with HP; I purchased my computer just long enough for the warranty to expire before one of the hinges attching the screen to the keyboard snapped, something that has since made the computer difficult to close and, in general, to use. This is a problem that other users have had on other ENVY models, yet when I attempted to reach out to an HP representative via telephone, I was informed that I would be charged $229.99 for a repair. It is both disheartening and mind-boggling that a mechanical issue, very likely one that stems from me being sent a defective product since this was not the result of the computer ever being dropped, would cost me about 20% of the price of the computer to repair.

I bought this version of the laptop in November 2013 and a few days later I had to return it because the WiFi would not work. I got my second one and the WiFi worked for about 6 months. For months I thought it was Time Warner Cable and I would argue with them time after time doing speed test after speed test and sending me a new router. So then I started calling Tech Support for both Microsoft and HP and got the run around. Finally the place where I bought told me it was HP. So again I called Tech Support and they finally agreed that it was their hardware they began helping me. Each of their solutions would last for a months. FInally the WiFI just flat stopped working. After arguing with them about how long this problem has been going they finally agreed to fix it even though the 1 yr Warrenty had expired. They had me send it off to the facotry or HP repair shop for 7 days. Here they replaced 3 or 4 items.  This worked for about 8 months. I have been asking for help but again they want to be paid for knowledge even though the probem was never really solved. My HP Envy TS 17 Notebook with Beats audio has always had a very low maximum volume. I have looked at other posts with similar issues and tried those recommendations. I have gone into the Playback Devices properties screen and maxed everything, I have reinstalled drivers, all with no luck. The max volume is extremely low. I am getting very frustrated with this "high quality" audio that this product claimed. Any ideas out there?

After updating the BIOS (F35 new version)  cooling fan started working louder , increasing the volume interferes with work in the evening . It is possible to roll back to a previous version of the BIOS ? Or how to reduce the fan speed.

Yes. You can replace the legacy hard disk with a SATA SSD. M.2 SATA SSDs are not compatible with your notebook. Only the models with i7 Core CPUs are compatible with the M.2 type SSD.

My notebook will not start and no video.  It does have a white light on the power and the internet connection but nothing comes up on the screen - a10 vision will flash also.  I did try taking out the battery and unplug it.  Holding down the power button for 1 minute and it still doesn't come on.  Any other suggestion?

My father has had the computer for a while. He passed away in November of 2015 and I havent had the courage to relive all of the memories... I logged into his profile, went to the settings and tried to do a factory reset, it got interupted because i fell asleep and wasnt awake to make sure the computer didnt get interupted from resetting. I turned the computer on this morning and it gave me a message stating that the reset was inturpted it gave me the option to continue to continue so I pressed enter, It will not stop going back and forth between a black screen and a screen with just the HP logo. Please help im in desperate need of this laptop for college!

Hello, I need to find a Hdd cable that goes to motherboard and the hard drive. I am assuming it dont work correctly because there is a tear in it on the side that goes to mother board. and it says hard disk failed on my HP tests. Hello Community, Recently I've been having an issue with my notebook's wireless, I'll try to summarize, so please let me know if more information is required. I've had my HP Envy for almost one year, so far, no issues. I got the windows 10 update last year and mostly, everything is usually fine. A few months ago I bought a Smart TV (a LED TCL 32 inch, nothing fancy). Reading the specs, I saw that it supports miracast, so I tried it with my HP Envy. At first, it worked perfectly then, a few hours later it suddenly stopped working, It seems like both the notebook and the TV can "see" each other, but are unable to sync, so it fails to connect every time. But that is not the main issue (although it may be related to it). Ever since the miracast stopped working, whenever I turn on the TV, even if not on discovery mode or smart mode, I just lose the wireless connection on my notebook (the TV remains online and so does everything else in the room that requires wireless connection), it just doesn't work for me, until I turn off the TV. It's driving me crazy and it is quite annoying having to ask to turn off the TV every time I need to use my notebook. I have all the latest drivers installed (and I've even ran a Windows 10 reset to defaults) still, the issue remains. Any suggestion?Thanks!

Just got this a month ago and there is always something wrong.  I have had to reinstall my Office 2007 pkg 3 times now. This message keeps popping up when I start it - AccelerometerST.exe error 0xc00007b.  So there is that and there is the problem with reinstalling my Office pkg.  It is the Outlook that keeps needing reinstalled.  Any ideas on what to do about these other than returning the notebook.  Thanks.

Pat_19-49 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!You are faced with two very different problems -- I know because I have had to tackle these with my Samsung phone. First, drivers.  In my case, I had to install Mobile drivers from Samsung for Windows to properly see my phone.  You need to check with LG to see what they have in terms of Windows drivers. Second, since Kitkat, you can no longer mount an Android filesystem as Mass Storage.  Like your phone, mine defaults to Charging Only when I connect it.  But, if I tap the screen, there is a menu of options and I can choose the last -- which is something like USB 3.0 file transfer.  You need to see if your phone has a similar options menu and select the one that allows for file transfers.Good Luck

I have 2 screws missing from the bottom of my laptop, 1 in the top left hand side and the other from the top right hand side. Both by the hinges which is causing the laptop to seperate in both corners. I bought this laptop like 3 hours ago and I can't connect to my wifi. All my other devices can connect besides this one. I also tried connecting to a different wifi (Phone Hotspot) and it worked. It gives me the "Connecting to network is taking longer than usual" then it gives me it can't connect to the Wi-Fi. I don't know why its not connecting. All my other devices are working fine on the wifi. I am certain I did not enter the password wrong. I've tried a lot. Also connecting to the internet via Ethernet cable works.

Hi, Try the following. Open Settings and select System.  Select Power and sleep, then click on Additional power settings - in the following window, click on 'Choose what the power button does' in the left hand pane. In the subsequent window, first click on 'Change settings that are currently unavailable' ( near the top of the Window ) and then remove the checkmark from the box against 'Turn on fast start-up (recommended)'.  Click the Save Settings button, then close any open windows and restart the notebook. When windows has reloaded, download the IMEI driver directly from Intel on the following link, unzip the package and run the installer. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26127/Intel-Management-Engine-Consumer-Driver-for-Intel-NU... When the installation has completed, restart the notebook. When the machine has reloaded, re-enable Fast Start-up and reboot the notebook once again - let Windows fully load for a few minutes before checking. Regards, DP-K

Hi, Firstly GTX 980 won't fit and won't work on your computer. Your machiine already has laptop version. And the bad news is for nearly all consumers laptops such as Envy, Pavilion .... you can't upgrade video card. You need to buy work station class machines. Regards.

I'm having trouble opening my ENVY notebook.  When I try to open, things bind up.  I feel like if I force it - things may break.  The laptop was never dropped or abused in any way.  When the notebook is closed and I look at it from the edge, the screen is warped.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Hi,  I suddenly lost my touchpad. It can no longer track my mouse movements. The touchpad on/off toggle button does not seem to work anymore too. I cannot turn it on or off anymore. I restarted my system a couple of times without any results. Also tried uninstalling Synaptics Pointing Device Driver and subsequent installation of the latest version without any positive impact. Will be great if you happen to have any suggestions.

Hi, It's always worth trying the following. Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter. Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. Regards, DP-K

DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT.  I switched from Apple to HP in January 2017, thinking it was a smart move as the laptop was half the price. 700 and 4 months later, the bottom casing has cracked and apparently my warrenty won't cover it.  The crack came as no fault of my own. I have not dropped it or mishandled it. It was a lot of money for me to spend and so I treated the product with the upmost care. Yet HP would like to charge me 137 to replace the casing. 137 for cheap, poor material that cracked within 4 months?  Upon buying this product I was told it was indestructible and wouldn't break easily. 4 MONTHS LATER???  This laptop is not worth it and HP are a terrible company.

Hi, I have bought HP Envy Notebook 17T recently in US. But from start Touch was not working and I thought that this laptop doesnt support Touch. But after reading several post I found that this laptop supports Touch, but somehow the drivers are missing and I am not able to find the drivers for this Touch screen. In Device Manager, under "Human Interface Devices", I could only find "HID-complaint wireless radio controls" and "HP Wireless Button Driver". I didn't find any other options to enable touch in my Laptop. Please find the below screenshot for reference.  Please assist me in making the touch screen working at the earliest. I have spoke to HP Customer care and they registered a case reference number as well. I've got some really bad overheating issues with my laptop!My friend mentioned a battery recall recently so I checked to make sure mine wasn't a problem, it is not on the list for voluntary replacement but my laptop is clearly suffering from horrendous heat stress!When I took it the service door off, I was immediately confronted by bright orange marks across the metal. Ever since I've had the laptop it has had a heating issue which is steadily getting worse to the point my display drivers frequently fail under the heat. The cooling fan is constantly on full and never quiets down. I have also noticed scorch marks on the plug of my charger, the two cannot be a coincidence?I have taken plenty of pictures to show the damage.  Please help.

Hi All, I've recently begun to have an issue where my laptop will restart when it goes to sleep. On top of this, the boot up is super slow. I'm not really sure what could have caused it. I was away on vacation before this started happening but had shut down my laptop. It was super hot while I was away, but if the computer wasn't on, I don't think this would have been the cause? It was also really hot for a few days after I came home and turned it back on, but I used it minimally before I noticed anything was wrong. Problems started occuring around July 26th. I don't know if that is helpful but I'm trying to think of any causes. And what is probably an unrelated issue, clicking my mouse wheel doesn't seem to function (i.e. opening a new tab in my web browser) like it should all of the time. Here's what I've tried to no avail: - Checked Power Settings- Updating Windows- Updating BIOS- Simply Restarting- AVG and Maleware scans- System Restore (But it failed. And speaking of, after the updates I found that it was disabled? So I enabled it and created a new restore point, but that seems weird?) I guess I'm all out of answers. Hello, I have a HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC (Model 17-j000eb). I have a HDD disk of 1TB in the primary slot. I have also a second slot. I want to put there an SSD. My only question is, how do I know what type of connection that I have to order? Which things are important to watch out when I order an SSD for this notebook? I will also need an adapter + cable. I assume that the cable to the HDDII port has to be a lot less long then for the HDDI port.I want to do this action because the laptop is going slower and slower. All normal 2.5" SSD's for laptops use same connectors as normal 2.5" HDD's for laptops  Format the old HDD and put it on the second slot/bay.I believe this is a quickest way to get everything works. Regards.

I swapped out the OEM 1600Ghz memory modules ( 2 x 8GB) and installed new 2133 memory modules.  I had discussed this with an HP rep prior to undertaking this and was told this would not be a problem.  the BIOS, as well as other diagnostics, still show the original 1600Mhz memory as the installed memory (which I have in the box as I write).  How can I have the new memory recognized???

I installed an 850GB EVO M.2 SSD drive in my HP ENVY Notebook - 17t-n100. It fits in the PCIe slot, but when I power on the laptop, there is nothing in the BIOS about it and Windows doesn't see the drive either. I have read some success stories that depend on updating the BIOS firmware, but I already tried that and it's still not showing. The BIOS options are very sparse. As far as the laptop is concerned, it's as if the drive isn't in there at all.

My HP notebook is little over one year old, and therefore, out of warranty.  Before the first year was over, I noticed that the left hinge was pulling my laptop apart.  It was a small gap and my schedule was hectic.  Therefore, I did not pay attention to any warranty coverage issues.  However, the laptop came apart more and more until both sides had the same issue where the two halves under the keyboard are separating.  I called HP and was told that since it was out of warranty, they could not do anything.  I asked where I could get it fixed and did not get an adequate answer.  Now, my screen occassionally flickers and I am afraid that the issue will get worse. 
 
I am very angry at HP now, although my last two HP laptops were very reliable.  [content removed]  Today, after a lot of research,  I found the hinge issue being addressed on these forums. 
 
I NEED HELP.  I need a reliable fix!!

I've had my HP Envy Notebook for only 3 years. I paid $1300 for it and have taken great care of it. A few weeks ago, I noticed the left hinge rotating differently than the right one. A few days ago I noticed that the rotation was getting worse and I also noticed that the bottom of the case was separating from the keyboard deck at the left corner near the hinge. After reseraching this issue, it appears that the hinge on my laptop is broken and that this is a big design issue with HP laptops. HP should pay for this. I should not have to pay for this especially since the problem is widespread and pervasive. Laptop cases should be sturdy enough to hold up for the life of the computer.  I need help from HP and I want them to pay for this.

My HP ENVY m6 notebook left hinge broke within one year of purchase and it has gradually progressed into the base of the laptop. As this issue happened within one year of my laptop purchase, I was eligible for the warranty coverage. Since I was overseas at that time, HP service centers in Indian refused to help me out with this issue. Now over the time, this issue has bigger and the dislocated hinge has not started to break this base of the laptop and the screen continuously has a bright line. I have been extremely careful with handling my laptop and it has not fallen ever. This issue seems to be common with lot of other people also and I believe that this is manufacturing defect. I am really disappointed in the kind of product and service that I have received from HP. I just can not afford to go for a costly repair or a new laptop due to financial constraints. At this moment, I really don?t know what to do!

Sadly, my HP ENVY m6-1350sf Notebook PC that I purchased in April 2014 with Best Buy needs the right hinge I believe needs replacing and now the casing on the screen is starting to pull apart. Obviously I'm way beyond the warranty but I am willing to pay HP to fix my poor laptop whom has travelled all around the world with me since it was brand new. I don't trust Geek Squad to fix it locally - they ruined my Lenovo in 2012 when the casing started coming apart by super gluing it back together. Please help ...

Hi, I've got a HP ENVY Notebook - 13-d008na and have purchased a 3rd party USB2LAN RJ45 connector which works great in windows, but I'm looking to create a deployment server using SCCM and will want to use a USB2LAN connector to PXE boot with. I've done some testing with this computer, but it doesn't seem to recognise the USB2LAN adapter, and as such will not PXE boot.  Do I need to do something special to get it working, or do I need a proper HP USB2LAN to get this to work? I've been right through the BIOS and configured the usual settings, but trying to do a network boot does not recognise the network adaptor.  I've done this many times over the last few years on other laptops and encountered a similar problem with a HP YOGA which required a proper HP USB2LAN in order to get it working, hence this question

I have a HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC which is not even 2 years old but the screws on the back cover have comeoff due to a faulty hinge design where the screen hardly opened till 100 degrees from the keypad. Has nyone faced the same issues with the model of the laptop and does anyone know the size of the screw which could be used on this back cover. I have tried to reboot the computer as well as undo the battery. I have even tried to do a system restore and nothing seems to make the keyboard work. The touchpad does not work either unless you plug in a mouse in the usb. I have to use the onscreen keyboard to type in the password and then it goes away. Please help this is very frustrating..  Thanks

Hi, While this may be a hardware issue, it's always worth trying the following. Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter. Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to see if this will launch the Start-up Menu.  If it does, select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. Regards, DP-K

Hi All! Last weekend I updated the memory RAM of my laptop HP ENVY Notebook - 15-k277ca. The machine has 1 module of 8GB by factory, so I've bought another module of 8GB (same Brand and same rate). But the problem is that the machine did not recognize this second module, neither in BIOS nor SO. Currently I'm running Windows 10 Enterprise x64. The weird part is that I've downloaded the CPU-Z, and this software recognizes the two modules. Any idea?  Here are the image of the CPU-Z software (where the memories are recognized)

For some reason a month a go my battery just stopped charging and now is completely empty. I ordered a new battery and it also do not charge? I do not understand how this can happen without any warning or breakdown in component parts or software issues. What can be done ASAP to fix this?

Hello, My Envy Dv7 (SerialNo: [Personal Information Removed]) has lost the screw (back side top left corner, see attached picture). To be able to buy a new one I need to know the dimensions for this screw. I have been in contact with Convena (that handles spear parts for HP devises) they cannot help me with this issue :-(

Unfortunately it is more than the screw. Screws do not just fall out. First something has to strip the screwhole. That is usually a hinge problem. In any event if we had the full model number of the laptop we could link you to the manual which does show the dimensions of all chassis screws, and the correct hinge part numbers.

My HP Updater recently installed several HP Updates including one for bios. Ever since those updates installed, my notebook won't wake up once it goes to sleep. It used to wake if I moved the mouse or tapped the enter key, but not any more. The same thing happens if I close the lid ... notebook goes to sleep and won't wake up. The power light is on but nothing works. I have to hold the power button down and do a hard restart, which is not good. Also, at the end of the day when I go to Start > Power > Shutdown, the computer acts as though it is shutting down, the screen goes black, but the power button does not go off. It stays lit and nothing will wake the computer up again except doing a hard restart by holding the power button down until it goes off. Please help! This is getting really annoying and is making me seriously consider switching to a MAC.

when I try to sinc my hp envy laptop with my microsoft surface 3, I get a number in the code box with the question " is this your code". It doesn't let me change the code numbers. If I hit "No" it closes and does another search for my hp laptop. I don't know my code.  If I click on yes, it checks and says it is incorrect and closes to do another search.  It always finds my hp but the numbers are never right when I click yes.

I have gotten one of these a few days ago and first day the Laptop overheated and rebooted. Twice. 2 days later again it overheated and rebooted. Twice. The Battery charger also gets extremely hot. So i went and took it back earlier today and got another of the same exact kind, and again it still gets extremely hot and i just don't really know what to do anymore. I really like it but i don't know how to stop it from getting so hot. The times it gets so hot that it reboots is when i am watching Youtube for a bit or playing te Blizzard game, Heroes of the Storm. I've been keeping it on one of those cheapy wooden foldable table things.

I have 2, Samsung 27" curved monitors, both HDMI and DP, but would like to connect to my laptop (no hardrive) and need to know what I need in order to have split screen, laptop remains closed in order for monitors to work.  Need to also ensure laptop remains charging. You can't use a separate docking station, you can use normal laptop charger to charge your laptop. The port replicator will have its own power supply. Port replicator with Displaylink certified will support 2 external monitors. I have not tested the HP 3005PR USB 3.0 Port Replicator but I believe it supports 2 external monitors. I did test few others (unfortunately not HP brand) and posted the results 2 years ago. Regards.

My HP ENVY dv7-7212nr Notebook PC is coming apart. Is there any solution for this situation. I purchase in 2013 and for a product to be comparable to the MacBook, this product is definitely poor workmanship. At first, I too thought it was loose screws and received that popping sound whenever I opened the case. After a month of this, the case is completely separated and being held by duck-tape. If this is the best that HP can produce, after the amount of money spent on this type of computer, I will definitely not be buying another. Yes we can get you the Manual and plastic case parts are available but parts do not just "come loose". Either somebody is secretly taking a screwdriver to it while you are not looking or there is a failure somewhare in the hinge system which can work screws loose. Can we have a little more description or perhaps a picture? Page 18 here has an exploded diagram with the parts. Can you point out what is coming apart and how? Page 52 shows the screws holding on the bottom cover. Manual

Whenever i start playing pc games,such as csgo,i encounter odd noises from my laptop.It usually happens when i make a sound  ingame,its more like chirping noises and i do not receive any errors or messages from the laptop.I'm not quite sure if  it is a fan or hardware issue.(Iown a HP Envy 15 NoteBook PC,K2P41PA#AB4)and a updated system bios ,F.24.

System OS Info:  Windows 10 Home 64-bit Version 1511 Build 10586.164 Since I brought the laptop home it has had very slow USB3 speeds on all ports.  Because I noticed this right away, I began troubleshooting on my own and have tried to following: Updated OSRan HP software and driver update / support assist and device manager shows drivers are up to date.  Updated the bios ad other drivers.  Device manager shows no errors or problems.Confirmed the power plan USB selective suspend USB settings were both disabled.Confirmed no hard drive issues.  No fragmentation, etc.  (New laptop anyway.) I use several SanDisk Extreme USB3 flash drives and HP Passport USB3 drives.  The SanDisk speeds I was getting on my old laptop was well over 100MB/s (fastest current speed around 90MB/s only achieved several times and most commonly around 20MB/s).  My desktop (home built) remains consistent with speeds over 200MB/s with drops to 140-area.  I most commonly transfer larger files in the range of 300MB to 4GB.  Sometimes multiple files of these sizes.  If I can provide any other details, please let me know and thanks for any help. Drew

The Forums are a great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community! I understand that you are having an issue with the USB 3.0 ports, and wanted to assist you! Have you tried setting your USB drive to Better Performance?  Usually, the Quick Removal feature is set by default.  To disable this feature, do a Windows Search for Device Manager, and open it. Expand the Disk Drives tree and locate the USB drive you would like to improve (it must be plugged in to the PC). Double-click the drive?s icon and, in the window that appears, find the Policies tab. Click the Better performance radio button and then, underneath, check the Enable write caching on the device checkbox (some devices don?t support this, however). I upgraded to Windows 10 six months ago. I have had problems with my screen crashing. I have recently upgraded my display adapter and driver and now I cannot adjust my screen brightness.My display adapter is AMD Radeon HD 8650G + HD8750M Dual GraphicsThe driver is up to date and is version 15.200.1065.0The option to Roll Back Driver is greyed out. Thank you,Justin

Ralink RT5390R 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter , Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter and Network Controller fully do not work on my computer, ive encountered this error at least 1 year ago and really want to fix it, as i want to be able to travel with my laptop. It would appear that my BIOS update has stalled on the screen below...
 

 
I've gone to the drivers for my computer to download the newest version of BIOS for my computer.  When I download the files to a USB, the instruction manual indicated .exe file for install does not download. 
 
I'm stuck at this point in trying to find a way to give my computer the latest BIOS update.

I have HP Envy notebook m7-n109dx touch entergy star. Last night my laptop did an automatice update of sort and now my touch screen isn't working. I have checked under drivers and this is no longer an option. Where can I download the driver and/or make this work again?In addition this morning when I went to use my laptop after logging in my laptop desktop screen was black; I did a manual restallation of the BIOS. Please help. All this money for a great laptop and now it isn't working. I can't stand these "automatic" updates which I have now disabled. Many thanks. p.s. Sure you are aware however this laptop has Windows 10.

We bought my son this laptop from Best Buy a couple of years ago.  He didn't really take to it because the track pad is so awful but he was just finally starting to use it (with an USB mouse) when Windows 10 came out.  The OS upgrade was a fiasco.  We almost couldn't get Windows 10 installed because Windows was reporting an issue with the fan.  After a 2 calls with Microsoft support and many hours we finally got the upgrade completed.  However, a few weeks after "upgrading" the operating system the computer stopped working altogether.   The message we get is the following:  The system has detected that a cooling fan is not operating correctly Then the system shuts down.  You can hit enter to allow the computer to startup normally.  It will still turn off though after a few minutes.  I just called HP support and was charged $243.00 to ship my computer to them and have this issue resolved.  What choice did I have?  Otherwise this is simply an $800 paperweight.  I asked if I could just purchase a warranty but apparently my calling support and reporting the issue would prevent me from simply purchasing the extended warranty for this machine.  (Although, I didn't try it).   Frankly, this is highway robbery for a product this age and for the amount of time this computer has been been in operation.  It had only been lightly used 50 or 100 hours at most.  This issue is reported numerous tim... I am trying to find a replacement battery that doesnt suck for this laptop. I have owned the laptop for about 18 months and the battery is just dead. Wont charge at all. I only used the laptop on battery power a handful of times, the rest of the time it was plugged in and running on wall power. So I am really baffled by why this thing is dead when it has barely been used. I would like to find a replacement that is better than the one that HP tries to sell as a replacement as it has terrible reviews.

 After upgrading to Windows 8.1, I have the below problems: - I can not change brightness of the screen on my laptop- When I clicked on "Contact technical support" on HP support assistant programe, it showed an error "HP support assistant has stopped working"... and closed the programe. I downloaded the new one from HP, but the same problem occured. My laptop PC info Product name: HP ENVY 17 Notebook PCProduct number: A9P84UA#ABA Please instruct me how to fix it. A:Cannot change brightness of the screen - HP ENVY 17 Notebook...

I posted the step by step guide here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2748304/amd-intel-enduro-laptop-brightness-fix-win.html  but if you are familiar with Registry just look for FeatureTestControl and see if the value is using f840 or f940 and replace it with ffff then reboot. should work now. But if you still experience same issue try to follow the steps on that post. Cheers!

Well it is free if you upgrade by midnight tomorrow and after that is going to cost. I personally have had no real issues with Windows 10 on any computer that originally came with Windows 8 or 8.1. However, if you have the switchable graphics it has created lots of issues for other people so if you have that stay away from Windows 10. Otherwise I would say do it.

The machine has 8GB Ram as standard - Note I am Dual Booting Win10 and Win7.System informs me that I have 8GB of which only 2.11 is usable.I cannot find data indicating the upgrade possibilities for this machine.The Crucial tool indicates that they have no upgrades. Can anybody help ??

This all started about a month ago when I noticed that the screen started blinking and shaking when the lid was positioned a certain way. This problem progressed and now the screen is totally blank unless the screen is positioned in  one, certain way (90 degree angle ). This laptop is only 6 months old and it has not been dropped or misused. It is still under warranty  I had another hp envy last year and the hinge broke on the left side. It was out of warranty but hp offered to fix it for $200. I didn't have the money for that and ended up getting a new hp envy laptop (this one) a few months later.  Apparently, HP is known for their lid issues and Im starting to regret buying from hp again.

I also have an HP Envy, differnt model, and I have a dedicated keyboard backlight button, also known as 'f5'. The button just stopped working. I do have light on the power button when the power is on, and the f12(wifi) and caps lock lights go on, but only the dot in the upper righthand corner as is appropriate. Other than that, total darkness. I think the lights are burned out. Before, I could turn the backlights on and off at will, regardless of the ambient lighting. I have tried the available links for 'repair', but to no avail. I would really like to know what the problem is, and what can be done to return the f5 button to its former glory...if that's even possible.  Thanks.

I am computer dumb, except for the working like a banshee to earn a living, I don't tweak and touch the engine side of this computer.Well, I have been hobbling along with my broken hinge, leaving Envy open, gingerly propping it.The screen is separating and I have to snap it together.I did not drop it, throw it, or swear at it. I love it. Still babying this Envy, as I love the backlit keyboard and everything else about it.  Now the wireless won't work, so I have to plug her in.This has greatly impaired my ability to work.HP offered to sell me a new computer.Im not a crybaby by nature, but I just went through a horrific divorce, I'm close to losing my home and my trannie blew on my truck. I just need my computer to work without coming apart, it's my last thread of hope.How do you justify these Envy hinges breaking and screens separating w/o recourse?

I have no idea why but my keyboard's backlight does not work at all. The only lights that work are the wifi button and the mute button.Please help, I dont want to have to ship this away because it is the only computer I have and I need it for college.
