Hey dudes, i was wondering if you could help me figure out what's going on here, though i might already have a guess, i'd like to get opinions as well as solving matters.

I'm helping my friend solve a problem with her laptop where her Compaq Presario v3119AU suddenly just stopped detecting the wireless card, even in device manager.

Now, we've tried reformatting, running it in linux or win vista and I've even gone so far as to take out her wireless card to test it in my laptop, and to test mine on hers only to get the same results, that the card isn't detected in her compaq, whereas her Broadcom Wireless works on my ASUS laptop...

I'm suspecting that over time of her using the laptop on the bed or so that the board has somewhat cook off... probably... any input on this? so far the only option i see now is to head it back to compaq...

A:Wireless issue on Compaq Presario v3000 Series

hamsteyr, i'm sorry, this is first symptoms of northbridge dying(nv6150go). the problem is that nv6150go makes some disturbances in pci-ex bus,and thus preventing the wireless card from detection. well, you an try to update your bios, it may help. i had 10 or 20 cases like this in my repairing practice. 5 laptops were cured(completely?) with BIOS reflashing. the others - nv6150go/nf-spp100 replacing.

Please help, my laptop, (compaq presario v3000), won't load xp, if i tap f8, sometimes it will go to the screen where you can pick safe mode but it won't let me go to safe mode. sometimes it will go to desktop but when i try to play a game it restarts & frezes up again. I also have tried system restore, it takes me as far as choose your restore point & then it does nothing, just frezes there. I also have a d drive so i can restore it to manufactuary, when I first purchased my laptop. i don't know how to do this either. I'd rather not loose everything if possible. Please help me, I'm desperate.

What about if you copy off files?
If you can do that, my advice is back up as soon as possible.

The other day I left my laptop on overnight and died cuz I didnt have the power cord plugged in and it wouldn't come back from standby in the morning even after I gave it power. After plugging it in, I powered it off by holding the on button for about 5 secs. When I turned it back on, I'd get 2 short beeps, LED lights on, and fan spinning, but nothing on the display. I've tried plugging it into an external monitor but nothing showed up. After testing for awhile, I noticed that when I plug my power cord into the laptop from a completly shut off state, the computer automatically starts up and gives me the same symptoms again. That's kinda strange that plugging the laptop to power = turn on instantly. Anyone know what's goign on here?

A:Laptop Help (Compaq Presario V3000)

My hitachi starts up when I plug it in.
I always assumed it was because it doesn't have a battery.
Never did.
You might want to run a full charge cycle on the battery and see if
it is still holding a charge.
then try it.

Hi there,

Im very new to this whole upgrade stuff

a mate (who knows computers) upgraded my Compaq Presario V3000 to windows 7, since i got it back its working a treat how ever i cant seem to get my mic working or the audio through my front earphone jack.

I have tried a few drivers, the HP site does not support drivers for this laptop with windows 7.

its the 64 bit version and yes my pc is also 64bit.

I have been through all the settings in device manager and it looks fine.

There are no little yellow triangles, under sounds video and game controls is
a pic of a speaker and hi definition audio device... so to me looks normal.

I have been through all the settings on my pc, but normally if i click on the speaker on my task bar it opens the volume control with a speaker level, mic level, headphones level etc, now its just levels for the laptop inbuilt speakers and something called sound systems ( no matter what i try and can not get anything out of setting the sound systems tab as the default so no idea what that is)

If any one has any ideas on how to get my headphone jack to waken and produce noise or my mic to open and do its job please let me know.

p.s my mate that installed this software has moved away as of the day after install and is unavailable for further assistance at this time.
Thanks in advance.

I've a friend's laptop here that is in dire straights.

It is a Compaq Presario V3000 running Windows XP Home edition. Beyond that I don't really have any information to post because I can't even get the thing to boot in Safe Mode.

A regular boot will anchor this thing in a Windows start up loop. It loads Windows then the blue sceen flashes with an error message and is too quick for me to read what it says .. then it starts back to loading Windows .. insert vicious circle here.

A safe mode boot will get me to the "Windows is starting up" screen, but no further. It sticks there.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Well, i got tired of Vista killing the performance of this laptop so i reformatted it with XP. It comes with Vista so obviously this is a challenging thing to do but hopefully it will work.

I've spent the last day trying to get drivers for everything and have managed to find it all except a working Audio Driver and Modem driver (Don't really care about the modem driver though).

Its supposed to run Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 and there is a XP version of the driver but it fails every which way i try it. The error message is "Driver installation Failed: Could not find the MEDIA device for this driver."

I installed Microsoft UAA and restarted (worked fine) then tried the Driver through hardware manager and it failed, then i tried the .exe and it failed as well.

I tried the Vista version out of curiosity which actually installed, but as you can assume it did absolutely nothing lol.

Is there any way to get this dang thing to install or a work around to at least get sound that isn't a loud beep or a staticy headset.

Here is the Device ID for both Audio Devices Listed.

A:Presario CQ50-115NR Audio Driver Issue (XP)

Your problem stems from the fact that HP laptops require custom-made drivers because many of the components are custom-made. This means the correct drivers are available only from HP since the device manufacturer does not make such drivers available to anyone except the laptop manufacturer.

Now that's fine as long as HP supports your version of Windows on a particular model, but if they don't you will run into problems.

I have a Compaq Presario V3000 (approximately 4 years old) running Windows XP SP3. When I plug in the headphones, I assume the laptop speakers should be muted. This does not happen.

I have conducted some research and discovered that this Presario model was apparently designed to specifically run Windows Vista and running XP interferes with the muting facility.

Would anyone know how this problem may be solved (without resorting to buying Vista)?

Thank you.

The problem with the laptop start when the wireless adaptor stops working, then a few days later the computer freezes in a strange looking screen where all the colours are muddled up, then when I am unlucky the laptop will not start again anymore it will just display a blank black screen. I have sent it to repair twice and each time they resoldier the different parts of the motherboard the first time was the "northbridge chipset", the problem is that now it has happened again and I am going to have to send it to repair a third time, each time it works for a while before it stuffs up again. Should I keep sending it to repair or is it just hopeless, or does anyone know what the problem is and why it works for a while before it stuffs up again?

Hi,

I would suggest you to run Windows Audio Playback Diagnose and Repair from the below MS FIX-IT: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/AudioPlayback/

If the issue still persists, then go to control panel/sound/speakers/properties/advanced/restore defaults.

If nothing works, I suggest that you uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your Audio device. This will reset all Audio Components.

Kindly revert and let us know if that fixes your issue.

Also, the taskbar icon shows a red X over the sound thing, and it says "No Audio Output Device installed" when the mouse is left over it. In the "Playback" and "Recording" tabs, it shows there's none installed, although this computer has an in-built mic too.

Yesterday, I thought it had gotten fixed, because the sounds was working again! I didn't really do anything. Hello all,

My 92-year-old grandfather -- who lives on a little island off the coast of Maine -- has emailed me regarding a problem that he is having with his ten-year old computer. If anyone out there would be kind enough to offer some advice on how to fix it, it would be greatly appreciated. There are no computer shops on the island, but my grandfather has plenty of tools and has worked extensively with radios throughout his life, so with some direction I have little doubt that he can make the repair.

This is an unconventional post, to be sure, and I don't really know anything about his computer ... but I think he has done a reasonable job describing the issue:

Hi Chris!
I have a severe computer trouble that I brought on myself.
First I will describe the computer and it's programs.
It is a Compaq, Presario 1200,
at least 10 yrs old.
Along the front edge of the top it has three indicator lights at the
left of center and three on the right.

The ones on the left are operating lights of which one shows when
the charger is in and the left most one shows when the computer is
started up by the button which is in front of the screen.
The one between these two shows the operating conditions, I believe,
as it usually flickers in concert with whatever is going on.
The three on the right each has a "locked padlock" symbol.
For programs it has Windows 98, Juno V.4, Intel Create and Share
and some other good things.
Everything has been working good.
I do... Read more

I bought a Compaq Presario c793tu years ago and it was in Windows Vista. However it sucked real bad so I downgraded it to windows XP. I got most of the drivers to work EXCEPT the mic. I couldn't record anything or talk to anyone over the net. Still, with XP, I was able to install programs and games that wouldn't work on Vista.

Years later, I still have my laptop, it's working well actually. Though I wish I could get the mic to work. I was hoping if anyone out finally managed to find the driver for the MIC to work for this particular laptop model.

Hallo Thorsummoner, I looked up your friends specs ;

Product Specifications Compaq Presario SR1320NX Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

I see HP havnt released new drivers for it since XP, if the Hardware is stock as you say the two things that stand out for me is you will have to upgrade the ram to at least 1GB you can go up to 2 GB.
Also you may need to upgrade the Graphics card as it only has 64mb dedicated graphics memory which may work if you dont use Aero but you really need at least 128mb dedicated graphics memory
If you need advice on a Graphics card i would suggest posting in that section of our forums.

I recently inherited a little Presario 900 (laptop, of course). The little beauty works great, except at startup. I'll press the power button and the power LED will light up (HD-light flashes sometimes.), and there's a sound from what I think are the speakers, but nothing happens after that. So I'll hold down the power button to shut it down again, and repeat the above process several times. Whether its on battery or AC doesn't change anything, but I find it helps to leave it "on" for half a minute and then shut down and power up again, but even that works irregularly. Eventually, after a few minutes of this trial-and-error, the HD will spin up and the whole system works fine ever after... until it's shut down or hibernating.

Does this sound familiar? It isn't a really pressing issue; I get along with it as is, but if there's something wrong I'd like to see about fixing it, as well as ridding myself of the inconvenience. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

A:Compaq Presario 900 bootup issue

I have the exact same issue with my Presario 900.

It intermittently won't startup, the speakers click briefly, the screen stays dark and the Compaq logo won't display. If I shut it down and re-start it enough times it will eventually come back up.

Mine will also seize up just sitting there. Usually though, it happens if I move the laptop although I can't seem to find any definitive movement that always makes it seize.

I stripped the entire unit down and then re-installed everything. While I was there I cleaned up any grounds that I could find. The idea was that hopefully the issue would be solved by reconnecting and tightening everything.

When I re-started it it worked quite well for about a day. I was hopeful that it was fixed but it started doing it again :-(

I know these laptops have issues with the power cord jack but in this case mine's fine and I can't see that being the reason for the seizing. I'm quite certain it's a mainboard issue, probably caused by the case flexing when moved and thereby flexing the mainboard. I seem to recall running into a laptop repair person on the 'net some years ago that mentioned this was a common issue and that he could fix it. Regrettably he went off-line and hasn't been heard from since.

I know it's not the processor, the memory, the fans or any other common issue. I'm pretty certain it's mainboard flexing somehow/somewhere even though it occurs even when it... Read more

Hey, I have a Compaq Presario C300EA

I dis-assembled it to clean it (The dust and such) I have now re-assembled it and I now have a problem!

What I did was I took the Heatsink off and blew through it and then put it back on, I also took the power cord out and re-sat the connector. I took the Hard Disk out too and put it back after.

The problem is now, when I turn it on. It goes to post screen (Normal fans) then after when it loads windows it will get about 5 seconds in to loading windows and the fans will turn on up to full and the laptop will shut down.

I have had an overheating issue with this laptop (Hence cleaning it out regularly) but it's never done this.... Any ideas?

I have already re-sat the heat sink several times, im now leaving it overnight with no power at all to see if it will re-set it's self

A:Compaq Presario C300EA Issue

Sounds like the hard drive might be having a issue, whether the power isn't sufficient to it (bad re-seating) or it has a bad connection to the MB. I came to this conclusion since after the initial post the MB (BIOS) says "operating system, your are the captain of this computer now". Assuming none of the files in Windows got corrupted, must be a bad connection one way or another. Also, when you re-sat the heatsink, did you clean and re-apply thermal grease each time? If you didn't that could be the root of your overheating problem.

I am also having problems connecting to a brand new Virgin Mobile MiFi2200. Everything is registered and set up properly, as I am running our old HP Pavilion on it as we speak, but it will not allow my Compaq to connect. The message says"this computer is connected to VirginMobile MiFi2200 4DC Secure but does not have access to the internet.- If you are connecting to a wireless hotspot you might need to open a web browser to finish connecting."
After speaking to Virgin for 4 hours over the last 2 days, and spending 2-1/2 hours with the Geek Squad today, I am back to square one. Anyone else have this problem, or better yet, have any suggestions??

Thanks,

What I would try is to download the driver from compaq and try it to see if it will work, as the driver may be specific to Vista, it seems specific to that model laptop

Can someone please help me acquire the latest driver for Compaq Presario C767TU FOR WINDOWS XP. I just recently installed Windows XP on my old Compaq Presario C767TU laptop, replacing the Windows Vista which was provided on purchase. I however was uncomfortable with Windows Vista and above (too messy!) and Windows XP is much more easier to deal with, as well as being more comfortable to work on. Yes, I know it isn't supported anymore and has become more vulnerable, but still... Blame it on Microsoft for not continuing to improve Windows XP instead of creating unsightly and infuriating newer OS.If info for such driver cannot be given, then at least tell me the make & model for the chipsets module; more specifically, the graphics chipset module, sound chipset module and the Wireless LAN chipset module. Only driver for those are missing.Thank you to anyone that can help provide information for my plea.

Hey guys, this is my fist post here, so i appologise if im in the wrong place, just need some help with something. Basically I have compaq / hp laptop with windows vista, and the DVD drive is no longer working. After a substantial ammount of research I have found fixes including the upper and lowr filters in the regestry, which didn't work, and have even removed the drive to try to get it to re-install the drivers. After testing the drive itself in another laptop I can confirm it is in good working order.

After a while I decided to set the laptop back to the factory settings using the built in recovery tool. This didn't solve the issue either. I have tried to use bootable CD's in the drive on start up and changed the order in which the laptop boots up, but nothing seems to work.

When a CD or DVD is in the machine, it powers up (lights and noise), but the computer dosn't seem to respond to it in any way. Also, the drive dosn't show up in Device manager or my computer and there is no entry in the device manager for DVD/CD drives.

Basically what im trying to figure out, is if this is a motherboard issue of some sort, and also, if I was to buy an external DVD drive, would I be likely to have the same issue?

Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance.

So my sisters laptop's LCD screen just stopped working a few years ago and I'm not very familiar with innards of laptops so I just didn't bother with it and it's been sitting in her closest ever since.

Well I finally decided to get around to seeing what was up with it and I ended up taking the entire thing apart piece by piece. Not really sure why, just kinda felt like it. Before I took it all apart though I decided to see if I could plug in a separate monitor and have it work to see if it was a video card issue or not. It worked just fine so it was definitely not a video card issue.

Windows wanted me to activate it for some reason so I tried but my CD key was apparently invalid, so I said screw it and installed Linux, and then took it all apart.

My guess right now is that the LCD screen is just plain messed, or it's a cable issue, the cables looked fine to me though. I'm just posting here because I wanted to be sure I'm not missing something. I've done soo much wandering around Google for answers but there aren't many to be found except everyone else and their mom has had the same issue with Compaq's.

If it turns out the screen is messed then more than likely the computer will be junked, not even worth spending $200 for a new one. So if anyone else knows anything I don't about the situation I'd love to hear it because I'm stumped right now.

Thanks.

EDIT: Sorry about that, will watch myself next time.

My friend called me up the one day and said her computer was giving a "fan broken error", and dropped it off today. When I opened the case I seen a lot of dust under the fan and inbetween the heat sink of the processor (AMD). I walked away briefly and my roomate decided to detach the fan, heat sink and processor (all one piece). I was quite upset because I simply just wanted to remove the fan on the top and clean all the dust and leave the processor in its place. I know some processors require a bit of strength to put back in, this one is a AMD athlon 64 processor 3800+. The only thing i did was put it back into the socket, lock it in place and continue to clean the fan and heat sink out. When I was finished cleaning everything out (mind you i had my wristband on to avoid electrical shock to anything) i plugged it all in and turned it on. the monitor says "no input signal.....going to sleep". now the computer runs, all the fans are running, HD runs, and im think the processor is running but not sure how to find out for sure. Im in IT right now and in the process of finishing a built computer so i know a bit about them. I'm thinking it could be the video card which is built into the motherboard. I just dont want to order a new motherboard if it could be something else. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

I have been given an old(ish) Compaq Presario C700 Notebook PC by a friend and whilst it appears to connect to my Belkin wireless router it cannot connect to the internet. My wireless network is located by the notebook but there is a red X between the "unidentified network" and the internet symbol.

I have tried to connect before and after reformatting the notebook but to no avail. I have looked at a number of threads here and tried a few things suggested for other people with a similar issue but nothing works. I have restarted the router numerous times as well but still no luck.

The PC I am using to post this is connected via the same router and is working fine so what am I doing wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also not sure how to network the notebook and this PC as well.

Cheers T

I've been having several problems with this laptop recently. Firstly, its a Compaq Presario C700 with Windows Vista on it and 1gb of RAM. My first issue was with the DVD/CD room drive (which I still can't get fixed). Then, I restored the computer back to it's factory settings because the person my friend who owned this computer before me had a lot of adware and malware junk on it. After that, I was still having an issue with the D drive. For some reason, it was full but the computer was restored to factory settings. So, therefore, I decided to just reformat the drive because I figured that it was causing problems with the computer's performance. However, the computer still had performance problems such as the Windows Aveo Aero theme wouldn't load properly. That was all fine and dandy. As long as the computer was still running. I would get it all fixed as soon as I got the time and money. Now, all of a sudden, I can't even get the computer past the startup "Compaq" loading screen. This all happened today when firefox all of a sudden updated itself (which was weird to me) then when it loaded again a screen popped up asked me to download or cancel "system.exe". Before doing so, I researched and saw several claims up it being a virus. However, the every time I kept clicking cancel, it kept popping up. So I finally pressed "install" which was probably dumb. 5 minutes later the computer shutdown firefox again and all this windows kept popping up (whic... Read more

Boot into the BIOS (F10 at Compaq logo) and check to see if the hard drive is recognized.

While in the System Setup menu check the boot options and make sure hard drive is selected before Network boot.

You may have a failed hard drive that is not being detected in the boot order.

I recently bought a Compaq Presario V3000 notebook, with Vista installed. It does not have the Windows Vista installer, instead it has a copy of all the files in C drive and some other files. I would not have purchased a notebook with Windows installed, if I knew that I would not get the installation CD along with the package! I would have bought it separately...

This is not a safe way to store the installer files! If my notebook were to be affected by any virus, then all these recovery files would also get infected.

I tried using the Recovery Manager to make a copy of the files in the recovery partition, but 2 among the DVD is corrupted. What can be done to again make another set of DVD with the recovery partition files? It does not allow me to make another set again!

Well, i got tired of Vista killing the performance of this laptop so i reformatted it with XP. It comes with Vista so obviously this is a challenging thing to do but hopefully it will work.

I've spent the last day trying to get drivers for everything and have managed to find it all except an Audio Driver and Modem driver (Don't really care about the modem driver though).

Its supposed to run Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 and there is a XP version of the driver but it fails every which way i try it. The error message is "Driver installation Failed: Could not find the MEDIA device for this driver."

I installed Microsoft UAA and restarted (worked fine) and tried to install the through the executable and device manager but both were unsuccessful.

I tried the Vista version out of curiosity which actually installed, but as you can assume it did absolutely nothing lol.

Is there any way to get this dang thing to install or a work around to at least get sound that isn't a loud *** beep or a staticy headset.
Here is the Device ID for both of them (I removed Microsoft UAA so i can start fresh, so its included.)

A:Compaq Presario SR1810NX Not Getting Past Compaq Logo Screen

Try a power drain.
1. Unplug power cord
2. Hold power button in for 60 seconds or more then let go
3. Plug in power cord
4. turn on the power and try to boot to setup (BIOS)

If it enters the BIOS then you should be able to just press F5 to reset to defaults and then F10 to save and exit. The PC should work now.

However, if after the power drain you still can not get in the BIOS than there is a MAJOR problem which would require some type of repair.

A:My Compaq Presario 2500 wont go pass the compaq screen

Hello lilevee22,

Before the problem started was anything added to or installed on the system?

Try booting to Last Known Good or Safe Mode.

Restart the computer during the boot process repeatedly tap "F8" you should get

the Advanced Options.

Let us know if able to get the system to boot with either option.

I recently sent my computer into a shop to have hardware issues resolved. I ended up having to purchase a new hard drive altogether. Now that I have my computer back my speakers no longer work. Ive tried the front and back audio jacks, with my speakers and headphones alike. The computer will simply will not recognize them. I cannot emphasis how frustrating this machine of mine has become. I would greatly appreciate any assistance.

Howdy folks. Well, I've been googling for a week now, trying to find a solution to this problem and to date I have been unsuccessful and would like to get a fresh start here. The issue is, I just bought a Compaq F756NR system from Best Buy back in April and was pretty darn happy with the thing until I started trying to do some audio processing for a local radio station I work with. The unit came pre-installed with Vista Home Premium and all the usual Microsoft/OEM garbage you'd expect, plus some very unexpected drivers from HP - specifically, their Conexant High Def SmartAudio 221. It would appear they worked directly with the vendor to intentionally disable any and all audio capture on the fly as anything passes through the audio card. In the XP universe, this was known as the "What you hear" recording feature. I understand in the Vista world, this is known as the Stereo Mix feature. In any case, the feature is thoroughly nuked with this proprietary driver and despite my best attempts (I've got 10 years in tech support so I'm no slouch either) I have been unable to reverse their reverse engineering. :) I must admit this is my first outing with Vista, so I realize I have not thought of everything, but I've already tried the following to no avail:

1. Installed Microsoft UAA driver.
2. Tried manually (no wizard involved) to install the only four Conexant drivers I could find on the internet: SP34200, 37021, 37816, and 38906.
3. Tried the Windows Upd... Read more

A:Audio Capture Driver for Compaq F700

Hello folks. Just wanted to update you all on this situation. I have successfully re-enabled the features HP and Conexant deliberately disabled. I can show you screen shots of the "What You Hear" recording functionality fully restored, in all its glory.

Again, to HP, Sony, IBM, Microsoft and the rest of you...blow it out your rear tailpipe.

Markets create themselves people and there's a brand new one open now: People who want their old functionality restored on new equipment from ALL of the major vendors.

Updated drivers to be released publicly soon. My next adventure will be re-enabling similar features on Sony Vaio machines. After that I'm going to explore what it will take to add those features to IBM's Lenovo hardware as they have been disabled at hardware level rather than by hobbled drivers/software. I see a refurb center opening in a neighborhood near you that refits the mobo with a chip and driver that do what YOU NEED THEM TO DO, just as they did on your old system. You'll lose your warranty, but you have to ask yourself whether you want more from 3rd parties or less from the vendor who sold you inferior technology. You decide.

That's what this is all about. YOU DECIDE, it's your constitutionally protected right. The RIAA, MPAA, HP, SONY, Microsoft and all the other criminal boss corporations have NO RIGHT to make these decisions for you.

Ultimately I hope to open a business that sells non-hobbled technology to you from the outset.... Read more

ok I hace a compaq that is all messed up. lets see one day the monitor would not work after a storm. Bought another, For a while the screen would be blue but change back to normal. The pc also would have a hard time starting up after it was in idle. We would do a hard start and for a while that worked. Now when I try to start it it turns on but the monitor says no vga/dvi input. There is also none of the preverable beeps that are supposed to be there so in short (well long)the motherboard is fried? So do I use it as a planter in the yard or is there a way to get it up and running. It runs on XP media center it has a micro ATX form factor motherboard it is also an AMD 64 Anthlon. ram is 256 mb 1Rx16 pc 4200 ddr2 533 mhz. With all that said can I just replace the motherboard and reinstall the reinstallation disks and be up and running? ( if it could only be so easy) What about the cpu. i know many questions here thanks for patients. Please help me. Tina

does your system have agp or pciex (or even pci) slot free? Is the graphics on board? It sounds like a graphics card problem, even if it is onboard. I'd try a replacement card (even if it's just a pci card) and see what happens...

I have purchased a Compaq Presario 600 with an Athlon XP 2200+ processor. I do not have a copy of Windows XP to wipe it with. Is there any way with the installed XP that I can refresh this system and remove data frome previous owners? Or Can I load Win 98?

A:Compaq Presario 600 ??

Compaqs usually have a hidden partition with all the factory loaded software on it in an image format. As long as it does and you can figure out how to access it you could probable do that - but you almost likely need the XP Product key and may need to reactivate XP after the recovery. XP can only be install on one machine at a time - so if they are still using it you are out of luck.

Watch the boot up for any recovery messages or take a trip to www.Compaq.com and look up the info for your make/model.

I friend of mine purchased this Presario in 2004. She hasn't had internet since about 2006, so she hasn't had any of the updates since then. I brought her tower home with me since I have internet to load her updates. We're trying to get it internet ready. When I brought it home last week nothing would open. So yesterday she gave me the system recovery disc. I started with the Standard Recovery, but there were too many files that it couldn't recover. So I then decided to do a full recovery. After the full recovery it was rebooting and it told me that not all the system could reload and I couldn't hit okaybecause it wouldn't read / acknowledge my mouse. So, I unhooked her computer and rehooked mine to see what her alternatives were. I found a website, they wanted to know all the things it wouldn't oload. All I can remember is that it was things that could me downloaded later like: Norton, AOL, Adobe, MSN, and QuickTime.

So, I unhoked mine and rehooked her's up (and booted up my laptop). When her's came back up it's saying: NTLDR is missing Pres Control + Alt +Delete to Restart

My question for you is there anyway I can save her conputer? She doesn't have a lot of funds, being a singe mother of a 7 yr old and I'm just a good friend trying to help her out.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide

A:Compaq Presario

I decided to see what happened when I ctrl alt delete and then decided to do another recovery. Here's some more info (could not recover errors):
1. C:\WINDOWS\Help\SB\Training\WXPPer\Content\Wave\[email protected]
2. C:\WINDOWS\System32\ntdll.dll
3. C:\WINDOWS\System32\ntkrnlpa.exe
4. C:\WINDOWS\32\dllcache\dinput8.dll
5. C:\Windows\systme32\dllcache\licdll.dll
6. C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache\locator.exe
7. C:\WINDOWS\system32\viaservc.dll
9. (Black screen instead of error message)
9. C:\WINDOWS\Installe152ec/msi
10. C:\WINDOWS\Installer\1b2cc.msi

then all of after about 20% a big blue screen with following:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. IF this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure new hardware or software is properly installed.
If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced startup... Read more

Hello, I have a pair of audio engine a2+ speakers which i have connected to my laptop via USB. My laptop is running windows 10 64bit, I have installed the audioengine driver and they are recognized in device manager under "sound, video and game controllers". The issue I'm having is the speakers will random POP which leads to them not working through the USB any more, whatever media im listening to whether its Itunes, Youtube, or VLC will pause and no audio will be heard until I re-plug the usb. Speakers work fine via Aux only USB issue occurs which leads me to believe its software related.

Ive tried:
Power options- turned off usb suspending
Changing properties of all the usb root hubs to not power off to save power
Tried changing usb ports.
Updating audio drivers
