Mini 110 (1030NR) missing ethernet and LAN adapter drivers after upgrade

Q: Mini 110 (1030NR) missing ethernet and LAN adapter drivers after upgrade

Due to hideous misfortune I had to do a clean install of my personal copy of Windows Vista and remove the stock Windows XP from my netbook.

Many drivers were added my Microsoft during Vista installation but I have no adapter drivers for either wireless or ethernet controllers. Under device manager I have no category for Network Adapters but instead those two controllers are listed under "Other Devices".

Under HP downloads I found the driver for Qualcomm Mobile Broadband Drivers - Gobi1000 when I went through the process of stating my product ID and OS (Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit). I downloaded it onto my pc, saved it to the flash drive I had to use earlier as a bootable drive to install Vista (knew the lack of native cd/dvd drive would eventually haunt me) and then moved the flash drive to the netbook to run install.

After running the setup a blank 'ms-dos' window popped up, stayed blank and then disappeared. There was no confirmation of success of failure in regards to installation of the driver. But under Device Manager they are still listed under other devices and I am unable to do anything with them.

I downloaded, transported and ran the setups for HP help and support as well as the Wireless Assistant. Both run fine on the Mini. The wireless assistant simply states that Windows has no controllers assigned to find connections to maintain.

I was curious as to whether or not there was something I was missing, the driver was the incorrect one (I tried another driver package that I found which supposedly work for my model and OS version which also did nothing for me) or if anyone has any other advice/ideas that may help.

I am missing a few other drivers but I can wait on those until I can get the netbook connected (if I can) to get the correct drivers for everything else which may be missing them ( card reader, webcam, etc...). But those can certainly wait as my productivity relies mainly upon internet access from my Mini.

My appreciation in advance for any and all help.

If you can get your hands on a third party/USB wireless adaptor, you might be able to use windows update to get the drivers. I've had to do it a few times with an older DELL machine I have.

I did a windows 7 clean install on my HP Mini 210 4051 nr as part of creating a dual boot with Ubuntu. In Linux the internet works fine, but in Windows 7 it does not. In the device manager I see yellow flags over the ethernet and network controllers. Code 28 (My model does have an ethernet port).

Because the machine cannot connect, I downloaded all the related drivers (everything from the network tab) from the HP website for my model with another computer and then put them all in a folder on the Mini's desktop via USB. When I try to install the drivers through the device manager, and direct it to that folder, it says it finds nothing usable.

Here are the IDs

Ethernet Controller
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&SUBSYS_338D103C&REV_05

Network Controller
PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_5390&SUBSYS_163610C&REV_00

Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Hi, well I had to reinstall the OS on my comp and after reboot when I tried to setup my internet/dsl connection it is telling me that the drivers for the PCI Ethernet Adapter are missing. I'd like to know if I have to find new drivers for this or if I can just reinstall the program.
thanks.

You're likely missing many drivers if you reinstalled Windows. If its for the Dell then you can download them from their site if you do not have the Dell Resource CD's.

A:need help with mini 1030nr pc

rmagallon000 Ordinarily, I would recommend using HP Recovery Media to restore your PC to its original condition. That would erase the entire drive, format the drive, and install the OS, the drivers, and the HP utilities.Unfortunately, there is no HP Recovery Media linked to the HP Product Page for your PC.  They no long stock recovery media for the older PCs. Even if it was still in stock, HP does not make it available for download; instead, you would have to order physical disk media from them. Since HP no longer provides Recovery Media for your model, a couple of other sites you should check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/  and http://www.restoredisks.com/ Good Luck========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.---------------------------------------------------------------If my posts helped you, please click the Thumbs-Up symbol on my post to say thanks. If my posts solved your problem please click "Accept As Solution".========================================================================

I have an HP Mini 1030nr notebook. I do not have any problems with the wireless connection. However, I cannot connect via cable and there is a problem with the local area connection. When I look at the folder of my connections, I do not see any cable connection shortcut. I checked the drivers, and there seems to be no driver for a cable connection. I have installed the drivers online, but it fails installing stating that there already exists another version of that driver. Once, only once yes, I have managed to see the local area connection on my notebook at home, but today I come to work and again there is nothing. What should I do right now, and more importantly why is this happening? Thank you.

I just purchased a HP Mini 1030NR FW376UA running window XP-home SP3. I’m able to connect to the internet using the cable connection and at a public access point using the WIFI. I’m unable to connect to my home wireless router that is set up with WPA TKIP security. I have two other older laptops (Dell & HP) that connect to this WPA network on a daily basis. I’ve re-entered the security password into the router to make sure I had it correct for the new HP Mini but still not luck. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

For some reason the Ethernet controller drivers decided to complain earlier today, for the first time with an irritating yellow exclamation mark sign, I was wondering if the nice people at TechSupport could direct me to the drivers I need, I went into System Information and on to the adapter, it says "WAN Miniport (SSTP)". I've been trying a plethora of things, like installing new chipsets, but instead I was landed with Easytune, which isn't all bad. I guess.
Specs:
Gigabyte motherboard
AMD- Quad core processor.
Hope that helps.

Hello,
I recently reinstalled windows on my computer due to a series of crashed and the win32 virus, i used my factiry CD.
I use the Windows XP Media Center Edition, my machine is an eMachines W3507
At the begginning, i had the all famous NTLDR is compressed message, so i could't go anywhere from there, so i switched my hard drive from class selective to slave, and only then was i able to reinstall windows.
It was all going well until i tried to go on the internet, i said that my ethernet controller drivers were missing, and so were the drivers for my pci modem, so after 2 weeks of downloading and installing the incorrect drivers for my ethernet controller, i gave up and now i find myself typing this message.
I have lost all hope on the fools at eMachines customer service, because they just tell me to call some guy in India, and he tells me to give him my credit card number, because i never put my coomputer on a waranty.

Does anybody know a website where i can download these drivers, or someone who can help me?
Any help would be gratefully received
thanks in advance

Here is the official Emachine support page for your model

You can easily see the downloads for specific hardware parts....

Network
Description Realtek RTL8139/810x Network Driver
File Type Original Driver

But, the driver is only for Vista it says. Very common Ethernet controller, odd that XP can't install it natively.
Try: http://download.cnet.com/Realtek-RTL8139-810x-Family-Fast-Ethernet-NIC/3000-2112_4-63908.html

Or try this one>>>> http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDo...-RTL8139C-plus-Serie-5649-Download-17566.html

Didn't know what half the junk was so I simply backed it up on a thumb drive and re-installed Windows 7 home professional 64 with the disk I got with the Puter. Couldn't access the internet afterwords. Ethernet controller Driver and network drivers were not there!  I have downloaded them from HP website onto the thumb drive and want to try to re-install home professional again. (I had to install Win 8 because that's the only other disk that came with the PC. It did get me on the internet though.) After I run the install disk again, will I be able to add the drivers off of the thumb drive?

Hi There

I am having an issue with my computer. I went on vacation about a week ago, shut down my computer, came back, my computer was running(I can only assume family had been using it) and it could not access internet.

I was using a DSL modem with a USB connection.

I moved, am trying to set up at new house with a cable modem.

The problem appears to be missing drivers for ethernet controller and "USB Cable Modem",

I am running Windows XP Pro on a custom built machine

Mother Board is

GIGABYTE GA-P31-S3G LGA 775

I have downloaded/installed chpset drivers from mfg website and they do not fix the problem.

I have tried to install USB Drivers for Cable Modem and it requests that I install USB Drivers first

I am using Other USB Devices so I assume that my USB drivers are intact, and this is simply a networking driver issue.

I have tried uninstalling the hardware from the system and attempting to let windows reinstall it without success

Any suggestions? Could this be virus related?

thanks

Hi. I recently had to reformat and reinstall windows xp pro after a virus went in and destroyed the system files. I might just add that it also stopped the internet from working (adapter appeared unitalled even though it was). I have reinstalled xp but it is missing many of its important drivers such as the etherent, sound and display drivers.

Firstly I tried just downloading the internet driver for my Dell optiplex GX270 and then installing them but that still doesn't make a difference as the computer does not identify them. Everything was working fine before all of this so i though that the windows cd would replace some of these drivers but it appears not..... The network drivers are the most important so i can download the rest and get xp updated.

I do not have the driver disks for this computer as they were not provided by the seller (Ebay) but it is an authetic Dell computer.

I am using an agp graphics card and ethernet is built into the motherboard
I used Belarc Advisor to scan the computer and here are the results:

Reinstalled Windows XP because of a bad virus. (Had done same a few months ago w/no problems.) Now missing ethernet driver and 4 others. Most important is the ethernet....because I cannot go on line to download anything. Found the right driver/controller for my Gateway 700GR desktop (about 5 years old -- and recovery disks no longer work). Contacted Gateway via email -- and there best advice was to go to their support area and download the driver, even after I reminded them I could not go on line.

There are 5 yellow question marks over each driver in the device manager.

I've tried to download the Marvell Yukon driver to my laptop -- and tried to download it directly to a CD. Doesn't seem to work.

First, I do not have a flash drive and am not sure it would work on my desktop anyway.

Is there a way that I am missing that would allow me to download the driver to my laptop, then disk, or whatever? Am pulling out my hair.

Thanks.

A:[SOLVED] Missing ethernet device and other drivers

What is keeping you from burning the drivers to a cd?

Go to the gateway support site and download the drivers and copy to a flash drive ( CD is ok too) . . double click the file to install them on the gateway.

Be sure to install the chipset drivers first . . the others will probably not install without that

Hi there

I recently did a clean re-install of Windows 7 but forgot to backup the drivers.

I did a Google search of the hardware ID's that I'm missing, but I'm taken to a rather shady Russian website.

The physical hardware itself is TP-LINK 300Mbps Advanced Wireless N PCI Adapter.

From the Ethernet Controller, I'm missing:
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_E0001458&REV_06
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_E0001458
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&CC_020000
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&CC_0200

From Network Controller, I'm missing:
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0023&SUBSYS_3071168C&REV_01
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0023&SUBSYS_3071168C
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0023&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0023&CC_0280

Please help!

EDIT:
I've managed to get the Ethernet controller driver installed, but I am still looking for the Network Controller. I found out that it's coming from Atheros, I must've tried about a zillion different drivers but none of them are working. It's hard to navigate through the Atheros website since it is in Czech.

Hello,

My friend had a little problem with his computer which was causing bluescreen. I thought the easiest way to get rid of problems was to reinstall Windows. I reinstalled windows to another partition so the data wouldn't be lost.

Now for the problem: I cannot find any suitable drivers for mainboard-built-in ethernet nor the built in soundcard. The computer is brandless and there is absolutely no recovery discs etc. So now internet and sound do not work at all.

Since I cannot connect myself to the internet using that computer, can I somehow take the existing drivers from the old broken system's system32 folder and add them to the new installation?

If it is possible, Is there any program to do that for me = find the old drivers so I could know the exact location and install them to the new system's drivers?

Thank You in advance...old brandless computers are just pain.

Hi sups9,

It is likely that the drivers for the 'Ethernet Card' installed in the computer are not installed. Please Check its status in 'Device Manager': Click 'Start' > Type 'devmgmt.msc' (without quotations) in the 'Search Box' > Tap 'Enter' (Device Manager appears) > Locate and Expand 'Network Adapters' > Check if a 'question mark/exclamation mark' is observed besides any 'network device' (You may also look through the whole list to see if any other device is listed with such a mark, under 'Other Devices')

If yes, right click the 'Device' > Click 'Properties' > Click 'Details' tab > Select 'Hardware ID' from the 'Property Drop Down' > Capture and share 'Hardware ID details'.

Do reply with the findings; would be glad to assist.

Hello, I recently booted up my laptop and discovered that it wasn't able to identify any wi-fi networks, so I attempted to System Restore and came to error 0x08007005. I attempted to patch it with the error fix, but it failed.

I did more searching and believed I was missing a Lan Driver, but upon installation I got an error message reading that there is no Network Adapter identified, which leaves me here.

I have used msinfo32.exe to indeed identify that there is currently no Network Adapter identified, as well as a fair amount of problem devices, and at this point I don't know where to turn to find more information, please help, and let me know if there is any relevant information I can elaborate with:

Hi Myotonia,
can hardly read your screenshot.
But you need the Realtek one thats in the list, Ethernet
and the intel centrino one for your Wifi.

Go to your comps model homepage and download them to a USB.
Then open device manager update but point it to the USB.

hello, if anyone can help me out, it would be fantastic.

here's the rundown of what's going on with my computer:
I installed these programs that create a virtual drive on your computer (install drivers and all) so that you can burn cds to the image drives. There were three in all, one was called "noteburner" and another called "sharedrm.." the other i dont remember at all but its icon was an ipod looking thing i think.
i uninstalled these programs and restarted my computer
upon restarting computer, the loading of windows lagged for a long time and then eventually the comp would just restart.
i also started getting the blue screen of death (fatal error) here and there.
after some working around with the computer i managed to get it to boot up again to find that i no longer had sound and my ethernet adapter was not working. Also, the drivers for those virtual drive programs were still in my device manager and in the registry.. i manually deleted all of them and everything from my registry with their names. (i contacted their techservs - and they had no idea)
also, it createed a driver in the network adapters tab called "direct parallel" which i deleted raspti.sys and ptlink.sys (it's two driverfiles) manually - everytime i tried to uninstall normally, there was a message that said "cannot unistall, this device may be needed for the computer to boot" - somewhere in the mess of things i ended up reinstalling service pack 2 as... Try re-installing windows from your Installation CD but instead of doing an Install (after The F8 agreement prompt) you'll select to repair the installation that it finds on your Hard Drive.
Have your Reg Key handy since it will want this too. It will Re-install the hardware drivers without affecting your installed software or the registries

I'm starting to lose my mind.

I just reinstalled 64 bit Vista on my desktop Dell Studio XPS 435 because I was unable to connect to the internet via my network adapter and ethernet controller (both of which said I had no driver installed suddenly and refused to accept the downloaded driver from the resource CD or Dell's website).

After formatting the hard drive and freshly reinstalling Vista, I now have MORE problems. In addition to showing NO network adapter at all (in Device Manager) it now shows that I am lacking drivers for my SM Bus controller, several System Interrupt controllers, the ethernet controller (still), and now it is also not recognizing my video card (stock P.O.S. ATI card Dell through in there). Before reinstalling Vista I tried everything from resetting my IP address to a full System Restore (two of them actually). Nothing seems to be working, it is starting to drive me crazy.

I've read that it could be the chipset drivers that I need to download and install, but I haven't tried it yet because I am currently at work and don't know the info I need to perform such a download.

I've never had a problem like this that I couldn't solve before. Any help would be so very greatly appreciated.

Cannot connect to Internet to download network drivers.

Direct ENet connect to router doesn't work.. obviously with out the drivers.

I downloaded Win 64 Net drivers from MS / Acer site onto SD card from another laptop. Tried uploading drivers to my AspireOne through its F: drive / SD card because it doesn't have CD / D drive.

The AcerOne doesn't show F: as a valid drive so I can't upload from there. Not sure if that's a separate CPU issue??

So I can't find a way to get the net adapter and drivers onto the AOne

I purchased this 'second hand' and original owner doesn't have any original documentation or support tools etc..

I'm not a expert computer tech, but know my way around pretty well. Just keep hitting obstacles on this problem...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recently acquired a Pavilion Slimline (s5503w) desktop PC. For whatever reason the hard drive was blanked out when I received it and upon installing Windows 7 64-bit (Ultimate Ed) I've had quite some time locating the proper drivers. Attempting to use the recommended drivers from HP's website resulted in a 9996 error, you don't meet the requirements. Proper recommended installer for that version of windows, but no luck. I've also tried installing the Ethernet and Audio drivers recommended by Nividia's website. A 15.49 package, but though it recognizes the video card it doesn't notice the onboard Ethernet or Audio. Neither of these devices is listed in device manager as far as I can tell either. No typical yellow exclamation mark stating that the driver is missing.

Any help or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

A:Netgear N300 WiFi USB Mini Adapter stuck detecting adapter

Power down PC...while it off remove USB wifi adapter....power on PC. When PC has finished booting up, search in the uninstall programs list for any software related Netgear and uninstall it. Reboot and start the process again.

According to the system requirements for that device, it does not support windows 10, which may be you issue.

Hi,I have a Lenovo t530 and immediately started running Linux Mint on it. I ran into incompatibilities with the programs that I need. I have an upgrade disc for Win7 that I used on my previous ThinkPad, and I purchased a full version of ME thinking I could just use that as my base before going in with the upgrade.I ran into the new hardware, no driver on legacy OS's issue (no OEMCD001) and all the forums point to installing it into a virtual machine. My question is, can I install WinME into a VM, and then upgrade from there to Win7 to run directly on my hard drive. What I'm trying to do is use Adobe CC, play Steam games (Skyrim) on my system with no middle man (Play on Linux) and just Put Linux on my old system (IBM t43p ThinkPad)Thanks for being here,Jt

Hi, - I used the process outlined in this link: http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/winvista_upgrade_clean.asp
to make a clean install from Windows XP Home Media Edition to Windows Vista Home Premium. <<ACER 5100 notebook, 1G ram, 1.6Ghz, 110G HDD>> Until I found Paul Thurrott's web site, it looked like I was going to have to actually upgrade and bring along all that mess from 3 years of using XP. But, following the instructions Paul gave, I actually did get a clean install. The software was 10% off too from Circuit City. Too bad about them, huh ?

Well, the clean went well, but afterwards when I repeated the process inputting the product key, right near the end, maybe the 3rd or 4th restart, the ACER froze up. I did it again after first deleting the partition and recreating it (BootIt NG). 2nd time it installed fine. Took about 30 min for the clean install, and 1 hour 5 min for the upgrade. The only thing I did differently the 2nd time was to change the boot sequence back to HDD, CDROM.

Anyway, the PC is fine. Wireless works and I've done some Internet browsing. But, in device manager, I have 3 instances of PCI Flash mem alarm, and 1 instance of a USB2.0 camera alarm. Minor but Vista keeps reminding me to install drivers. I don't have the hardware, so I don't know why this has happened. Anyone know ? What to do at this point ?

Thanks !

A:Drivers Missing After Upgrade to Windows Vista Home Premium

Solved by getting two drivers from ACER's web site. It wasn't obvious which ones I needed by the description in Device Manager but after Googling found several folks who had the same thing happen to them and also found which drivers were needed.

All went well apart from two issues.
My memory card slots no longer show under 'My Computer' and nothing is recognised when I insert a memory card into the slot.
..and secondly
My built in web cam no longer works (although the mic does)
Under device manager I have one yellow exclamation mark next to a USB device which I believe is my web cam and another under an unrecognised device which maybe my memory card slots.

I have tried the Sony support site and done a search on the web but so far I haven't found any drivers or solutions to my problem.

it then said now plug in the dongle... the computer should recognise it and you should follow the instructions to complete setup....

however the computer treated it as an installed piece of hardware without drivers... and when it begins to install the drivers from the disc, it tels me tht installation failed because it is not intended for this platform..... what do i do??

as far as i can see my pc has all the requirements listed on the back of the packaging :S

About 10 months ago I purchased an HP Mini 110 3030NR for my wife before I left home on deployment, and she used it extensively during my absence. I typically build my own desktop systems as I hate bloatware that comes on “off the shelf” systems. However, due to the short amount of time I had prior to departing; I left the Win 7 Starter installed for her instead of formatting.

I returned home a month ago and went ahead with formatting the little bugger and I have run into a small comedy of errors. To make a long story short the following is my situation:

Problem: Fresh install of Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit, will not recognize the following devices:

1. Ethernet Controller
2. Network Controller
3. PCI Device
4. Video Controller

I am really only concerned about the Ethernet controller, as unless I am wrong, most of the other issues will fix themselves once the system is connected to the internet.

Steps already taken:

1. The first thing I attempted was all Network Options (and others) found on the HP website for this device. Results: Absolutely no help.
2. Ran Belarc Advisor to discover the details of the System Model / Main Circuit Board
a. Model = Hewlett-Packard HP Mini 110-3000 (no real surprise)
b. Board = Hewlett-Packard 148A 79.31
3. Perused the Manual for any hardware revalations, found the following:
a. Ethernet = Integrated Realtek RTL8703EL 10/100 network interface card (NIC)
b. Wireless LAN from

Dell Netbook / XP sp3. Bought from a colleague - wireless connection worked both at his home and WIFI at a coffeee shop [saw it]. Have tried it in two homes - one with Roadrunner cable, the other with AT&T DSL. In both cases, the ethernet cable [through different routers] works and wireless works on my Toshiba notebook.

I have done ipconfig release/renew, there are no flags in Device Manager, the wireless icon says there is a good connection, it's set to automatically detect settings. ping shows the ip address. However, the diagnostic for XP reports the following: "Could not get proxy settings via the Automatic Proxy Configuration mechanism. This computer has the following default gateway entry[ies]: 0.0.0.0
There is no default gateway entry"
Please advise what I should try next. Thanks, Cory

Hi,

the click mini had a micro USB, and a full size one on the keyboard

I prefer ethernet to wifi

I have an adaptor that converts ethernet into micro USB, but then I can't charge via the same socket.

Is there an alternative?

Thanks!

A:Using both Ethernet and charging Satellite Click Mini L9W-B

not really.

there's nothing wrong with wifi speeds, 54mbit/s is more than enough, if it's slow over wifi it's not a problem with the wifi.

After upgrading to Windows 8.1, things were working fine until about 100+ updates came through... and now these TAP-Windows Adapter V9 and TAP-Win32 Adapter OAS drivers are installing over and over again. I uninstall the drivers and they come back, I
disable them, and they re-enable themselves. I have looked up answers to this issue, and I do not use a VPN...so none of that applies to me.

The unfortunate part is that I get constant interruptions with my internet and don't even want to touch my laptop hardly anymore because of this...but I need to because I am trying to start a business and get back into school. The only way I can get the
internet to work again is to disable the drivers, and troubleshoot my wireless adapter. It renews the wireless adapter, the internet works for anywhere between one minute to an hour before I have to troubleshoot again.

HELP?? How to I block those drivers? There needs to be a Microsoft Removal Tool and a major update...
I tried to add a screenshot, but it took so long to verify me that I had already deleted it after 4 days.

Hi,

I have a Sony Mavica Digital Camera that uses 8cm mini cd-rw disks. The camera came with an adapter ring to snap on to the mini cd-rw so that it can be read in CD-ROM drives with no inner groove such as mine. I lost the adapter ring and now have no way of reading the disks. There is an USB option but that doesn't work and I don't like to figure that out right now. I just want to know where can I purchase something similar to the adapter ring?

-Thanks,
Dan

Hi All,

I have a Seagate 500gb USB drive and I want to be able to connect to it with both of my PCs. So, I bought a Pluscom mini NAS USB adapter. Unfortunately the installation disc was U/S and despite several requests to Pluscom I've got nowhere.
I have connected the adapter to my router via RJ45 cable and I can see the device on both PCs networks. However, every time I try to connect with the USB hdd I am asked for a user and password. I insert the device's admin/admin but it's not what it wants. I insert the router's details, that doesn't work. I insert the respective PC's name/pw, that doesn't work.
Does anyone have any experience with this particular device and can help me, please?

Hi All
Attached is a picture of a Mini Disc Adapter and after a long search I am having problems trying to find out who sells them, because my main computer has a slot instead of a draw to load dvd/cd's into it does not take the little mini cd's that often come with hardware purchased with software to put on your computer.
I have to load it on to the other computer, copy all that is on the disc and put it on my external drive then transfer it to the main computer.
I know I could set it up to transfer from one computer to another but I don't want to have two computers on to do one job
if anyone knows where I can buy these, on line or at a physical store, (does not matter what country) could you pass that info on, much appreciated

I have one of those micro/mini USB wireless adapters that I'm trying to get working on a reconstituted Win7 HP box. I have a fresh install of Win 7 but have no idea where the driver for the adapter is, so the machine does not see it. I'm not even sure it needs a driver.

Here's the weird thing; I recently plugged the USB wifi thingie into my other box (Win 7 Pro/64) in order to get the PC talking to my smart TV across the room so I could watch Netflix and it came right up fine with no tweaking. I didn't do a thing except reboot. If it needs a driver, it somehow just found it, or does not seem to want one.

On this 2nd box with Pro/64 I can also easily get to the display shown in attachment that shows wireless bars, but on the 1st PC with Win7 Home Prem, going to Control Panel -> Network and Sharing center produces no such display. All it shows is the broadband connection to the cat 5 cable running to my router. It's like the Home Prem system does not support wireless. I did reinstall all drivers from the GByte disc that came with the mobo.

Any ideas?

Motherboard : Gigbyte p67a-UD-3r-b3

I have a Intel dual band WiFi adapter mini pci express : http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/wireless-products/dual-band-wireless-ac-7260-bluetooth.html

I recently bought a mini pci express to pci-e adapter that had 3 antennas from ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/121134056059?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I installed them mini pci-e into the pcie with one problem which i think doesn't matter: the intel mini pci-e does not reach the top screw holes of the adapter but the antenna wires are still connected to it. I then placed the pcie adapter into a pcie slot on the motherboard of my pc.

When turning on the computer my windows 7 recognized 4 drivers and installed them all. From memory i know one was a USB composite driver and the remaining 3 were USB input devices? This confused me immensely. I dont know what to do next to be honest. Obviously its not working properly and furthermore, the USB composite driver is under the 'Universal seriel bus controllers' group in device manager; with the other three under 'Human interface devices'.

Now, i received a cord with the mini pci-e to pci-e which plugs into the side of the adapter (you can see this slot in the photos of the ebay link above but the actual cord is not in the photos). I did not attach this cord as i do not know where it goes on the motherboard. I have attached the photo of the cord- the white end goes into the... Read more

I left a mouse adapter inside the USB port of my HP Mini laptop. I never used the mouse, but kept it in there just incase. Never gave me any problems until i noticed a burning smell coming from the case. I started receiving tooltips in the corner that the adapter wasn't being recognized, and so i reached to pull it out and discovered it was very hot.. after pulling, it had split into two parts.

How this did happen? The way it was built, the case never gets enough cooling.. but it doesn't seem normal for heat to have gone straight to the port like that either, other components should have melted way before that.

I recently purchased a Compaq Presario desktop with no integrated wifi. So I picked up a usb adapter. The Retail Plus website says the adapter is compatible with Windows 7. However, after I run the setup and plug in the adapter, the drivers do not install. My apartment is wireless only, so I can't connect my desktop to the internet to download drivers. I do have a laptop with wifi, so I tried installing the usb adapter on it. Everything went smoothly and the usb works on the laptop. So I tried putting the drivers on a disc and putting them on the desktop, no luck. I downloaded a package from the Retail Plus website and I still cannot get the drivers to work.

Unfortunately, I am not very computer savvy. Any suggestions to make this work?

I have a mini pcie mSATA card that I want to use for a desktop of mine. Kingston sm200s3 60GB

I believe there are only 2 options.
1. SATA > SATA adapter > mSATA card
2. PCIe slot > PCI adapter > mSATA card.

As far as 2. goes; I have found a card that fits into a PCIe slot which has an input for the mSATA card.

I know that this is not the ideal way to hook up the card but I don't see any more options.

Which is there better way to go or what am I missing?

A:Mini PCIe and adapter VS. SATA

Whatever has an mSATA interface for it will work.

From here SSD Kingston 60GB SM200S3/60G mSATA p/ Ultrabook,tablet - Atera Inform?tica

its a SATA 3 device, so for optimal performance you should use something that can guarantee enough bandwith to not bottleneck it.

PCIe bandwith depends from number of lanes used (a x1 card has one lane, a x2 card has two and so on) and the PCIe revision/version of both devices. The panel on the right here gives all speeds https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express so just multiply that by the number of lanes the card has and you will find out its bandwith. SATA 3 has 6 GB/s of theoretical max bandwith, although actual transfer speed does not go above 1 GB/s afaik.

This Mini PCIe PCI E mSATA Intel Samsung SSD SATA 3 III Adapter Card with Case | eBay

this SATA III Dual Port to mSATA X 2 w/ PCI-e Bracket | MSATA-2XS3-BKT

are examples of what you listed as 1, and stuff I would orient myself towards if my mobo had SATA 3 connectors already. Because... hey, why waste PCIe slots for that?

Howdy - Recently bought a Dell Inspiron 1012 mini with an Atheros AR9285 802.11 b/g/n wireless adapter. When connecting to my home network, the card only recognizes the 2.4G radio on my Netgear dual band router - it can't find the 5G signal at all! I know the 5G radio works because it streams to our TV at that speed. Dell Support couldn't help me out. Anyone experience this or have any ideas?

A:Dell Mini's n adapter can't find my 5G radio.

Wifi issues can be a royal pain. Welcome to the forums btw, I suggest first looking to see if there is new firmware for your router. If there is newer firmware, i suggest you upgrade to it. Be sure you have the latest drivers from dell for your card, you might also look for drivers directly from atheros.

Hi,

I just acquired a Belkin mini to use with my headphones.

Step 1 is to install the BT adapter. on the support website, it says that because I use Windows 8, I shouldn't have anything to install.

But things don't happen like they're supposed to. it seems that when I plug the USB adapter, something happens but then nothing else. So I install anyway the setup program on the CD. again when installation is over, nothing happens, no desktop icon, no special tray icon.
At this point I should point out that my ACER predator desktop PC has an inbuilt Bluetooth device... but for some reason it too can't seem to connecto to headphones, hence the purchase of the belkin adapter. So in my tray, there already was a bluetooth icon.

So what I did, was check the device manager to see if it recognized hardware. And apparently there is a problem, but this is where my skills end and where I hope to get some help from you guys.

Hi there, I'm having an issue with my ever so brilliant IBM Thinkpad T42p, only it's not so brilliant at the moment as it has a wireless issue. WPA2-PSK is the standard for wireless security as I believe, my T42p was made in early 2005 and the adapter hasn't really been properly updated to support this security type. I have tried custom drivers to the latest drivers.

The latest drivers crash the OS for several minutes and fail to install, even when digitally signed and the custom drivers work a treat on WEP and other network security types not the modern standard though. Changing my wireless security type isn't an option, any ideas? Windows 7 works superb with the drivers but I prefer XP on this laptop as it can only handle so much and its aging. So I would need XP drivers on an quite frankly an ancient mini pci IBM Wireless card that supports modern WPA2-PSK.

If it's too much trouble I am just going to rip one out of my HP laptop but I prefer not to.

Again, any suggestions?

Thanks

A:IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II WPA2-PSK issue.

No one?

Anyway, it worked on some routers and failed upon others so I decided to bite the bullet and swap the cards from my other laptop.

It works great now, its an Intel something... and connects properly due to better and updated drivers. Interestingly the Thinkpad has all its original parts and the bios reported the CPU, Intel Pentium M and now I have replaced the card it's made it a Centrino (Intel branded chipset groups, Wifi, cpu and whatnot).

For anyone who owns a thinkpad and wish to check the parts list visit ThinkWiki. It maybe for Linux but hardware wise it applies to any OS and does give info on Windows anyway

Hello guys. I have a little issue here. I've got a HP Mini 5103 netbook and I am using Ethernet connection for internet.
The problem is that every time when I am unplugging the the charger from the laptop (meaning: laptop is working on battery power).
I suppose it is some kind of power saving option, but the fact remains that it's totally sucks, cuz then I have to keep the charger plunged all the time.
I tried to check the Advanced power settings, but there is no option to change Ethernet power settings, also I checked in the Devise Manager in Advanced menu of the Ethernet,, but again no luck to find a setting that would disable that function.
Pleas if you know anything about this problem,, help me out here

I have an IBM T40 Thinkpad that has a built-in Intel Pro Wireless 2100 LAN 3B Mini PCI adapter. A while back, after trying to set up a router, and monkeying with settings, I found I could no longer connect. The OEM-installed IBM Access Connections was no help, and Windows tells me it cannot configure the adapter/connections. At first I thought the card was defective, but 2 new ones have the same results. I've been using a USB adapter, but would like to get the built-in working again. My friend thought I could remove IBM Access Connections and install different software to operate the adapter.

Two questions:
1.Does this sound feasible?
2.Can someone recommend some software (preferably freeware)?

Hi guys,
I'm going bananas! Here's the scoop. I have a desktop & Dell 1520 laptop running thru a Netgear 2000 router/modem. The problem is with the laptop. I've set up the router wireless with wpa-psk security with the ethernet cable & everything works fine when I disconnect the cable. When I shut down for a night, laptop & router both off, then turn everything on the next day it connects wirelessly & all is fine. Here's the problem. If I leave everything on & let the laptop go into standby & then hit the switch to bring it out of standby, sometimes it connects OK & other time NO!!! When it disconnects & I attempt to re-connect the process with the card utility it assumes it is set for WEP, WHICH IT IS NOT!! & is asking for the appropriate password of either exactly 8 or 13 letters. Incidently the passphrase has 12 letters in it, but it's set for wpa-psk not wep! I've rechecked the router settings & thats what they are so it must be with the adapter.
I figure it's got to be a setting somewhere on the adapter but I haven't a clue.Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help will be appreciated.
Ben

The problem is that network connections don't always work after Standby/Sleep/Hibernate. Make sure you have the latest correct driver for the adapter. There's not much else you can do except try another adapter.

When I have that issue my workaround is to switch the wireless off (if integrated) or disconnect before Standby or Hibernation.

I have just replaced the 802.11b Intel PRO 2100 wireless adapter in my Dell Inspiron 600m laptop computerwith an 802.11b/g Intell PRO 2200BG. I am confused about connecting the antenna cables to the new mini PCI board. Originally, the grey cable was connected to the Main connector and the black cable to the Aux connector. This is how Dell shipped the computer with the 2100. However, the Installation Guide for the new adapter (2200BG) indicates that the black cable should be connected to Main and the grey to Aux. How would I know which connection configuration is correct? Thanks.

P.S. I don't know if this is of any relevance, but the Intel PRO Wireless 2200BG adapter appears to be intended for HP computers. The drivers CD has HP on it and the Installation Guide is "Copyright 2004 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.". Is the antenna cable colour standardised among computer brand manufacturers?

easiest thing is to google any numbers you can find on your motherboard, this will identify the make and model and will (well should unless its an obscure cheap make) provide a link to the drivers on the makers website.

Once you find the drivers remember to back them up to a dvd or a CD and label them up.
