Adobe Flash Player runs program, then sound doesn't work

Q: Adobe Flash Player runs program, then sound doesn't work

I'm on a friend's computer right now, who uses a dropbox system which works in conjunction with a sound recorder. (The person record whatever he or she needs to record, they save it, which means it sends to whomever the dropbox was made for, which in this case is his/her professor. DAMN THEM PROFESSORS :3)

Usually he/she tries to use the program and the sound recorder, which works or doesn't work, but causes all audio on the computer to fail.

When the friend came to me for help, on a freak accident, the microphone/dropbox system worked, and kept all audio intact and sound. So I know the sound is working or able to work.

Another interesting thing about this problem is that ALL audio programs do not work. This doesn't just affect the browsers, this also affects Windows Media Player, which now refuses to play sound files that used to be able to be played because it says it can't play that kind of file.

Please help. :3

A: Adobe Flash Player runs program, then sound doesn't work

Go to audio device manufacturer's site and see if driver updates are available.

If "SP1" in user name refers to Windows 7 SP1 Beta, I would suggest that you uninstall it.

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 BETA

I am a newbie here. I am trying to access my grandson's science book online, but when I try to open the ebook, I get the error message: Alternate HTML content should be placed here. This content requires the Adobe Flash Player. Get Flash

I have tried accessing the Manage Add-ons and Shockwave shows up. I have tried turning off Active X Filtering and restarting IE11 (Version 11.0.35). The site works just fine using Firefox, but my wife doesn't like using Firefox. What do I do now??

I have screens that automatically refresh. I am not running a movie.
But, I keep getting an error: "A Script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 9 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script."
Sometimes it happens right away, sometimes it runs for a while before the error comes up.

Is it not supported in Windows 10 as of yet? There are some things I cannot do in the firefox browser because of it.

Adobe combines Flash Player into Windows, similar to Windows 8.

I don't believe its supported at this time.

Hi,

I have downloaded and installed flash player10 but cannot get it to work on either IE8 or Firefox. I have done everything Adobe suggest on their site including using their uninstaller then rebooting etc etc.
I have even disabled ALL internet A/V programs so not even a firewall to interfere with Flash Player.
Strange thing is that even though the installer says it's installed, I went into Add/Remove programs, the Flash Player is there but it dosn't have a size like all other programs.

I'm running XP Pro

It's driving me mad as I can't visit the sites I want to

Dave

Dave, are you attempting the download from the Adobe website or another source? Only suggestion I can make is remove\uninstall from Add\Remove Programs and try downloading from Adobe Flash Player page at the Adobe site.

adobe flash 10 downloads ok. but when I visit any random web page it says I need to down load adobe. In the web site only text is displayed and never any graphics. Please help!!!

A:adobe flash player 10 will not work

Hi justsurfing

I'll guess that when you mention that Flash "downloaded OK" you mean that it downloaded & installed OK? Once it was installed, did you then see the animated graphic "Adobe Flash has been successfully installed"? If not, the installation was either never run (if you only downloaded the installer, but didn't run it, you've missed that step), or the installation had a problem.

Here's a link to Adobe's troubleshooter for Flash. One of the items has an uninstaller that let's you remove completely your previous versions & any files leftover from an incomplete unsuccessful install. http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html

If you use more than one browser, visit the Adobe Flash downoad website using each browser. There are different versions for different browsers.

Most browsers allow you to disable plug-ins and add-ons such as Flash. Look in the options menus for your browsers to ensure that your browsers have the Flash plug-in enabled.

Some Security/Privacy programs will disable browser toolbars and plugins also. Check the settings in your security software to see if one of these might be blocking Flash.
_______________

I think you probably will have success simply by resetting your favorite browsers options to "Default", uninstalling & then reinstalling Flash.

Best of luck,

Start with this adobe link to test the flash player.

Use this link to install the latest version if you don't have it. It can also be used to reinstall the current version, which is always worth a try.

So today I installed the newest version of the Flash Player. I have enabled automatic updates so all I did was confirm the install. Suddenly I can't watch videos or do anything involving Flash on Firefox. It works fine in IE. I went to the update website to try and reinstall it. However, the page now displays this message:

>Note:Flash Player does not support 64-bit versions of Windows XP and Vista. Flash Player 11 now includes support for Windows 7 64-bit.

Is this something new? I've had this laptop, running 64-bit Windows, for several years and I haven't had an issue, so I'm assuming it is. What can I do? I don't want to be forced to use IE.

Someone recommended running Firefox in 32-bit. Would that possibly help, and if so how do I do this? Again, I run Windows Vista 64-bit.

Anyone could help?

A:Unable to make Adobe Flash Player work

Hello Joao and welcome to Seven Forums.

I would uninstall Adobe Flash using the official Adobe uninstaller. Flash has been known to have security issues and when something disables the firewall my first thought is malware. You can always reinstall the latest version of Adobe Flash later on.

Uninstall Flash Player | Windows

Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player

Now run a full scan with whatever antivirus suite you have installed. Make sure you have the latest updates. No anti-virus product is 100% effective 100% of the time. It's always a good idea to run some additional on-demand scanners. These are recommended and they are all free. If your machine does have malware, I'd suggest using Windows Defender Offline first. It can scan your machine before booting into the operating system so malware has less of a chance to hide. Make the bootable disk on a different computer - one that you know is not infected. Even if WDO comes back clean, I'd still run the other scans "just in case."

Windows Defender Offline

Malwarebytes

ESET Online Scanner

If all scans come back clean I would next check for damaged or corrupt system files. Run a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If any problems are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Please post back if anything helped or not.

Ok, first off I'd like to say I'm running Windows Vista Basic, 32 bit, 2GB RAM. I've got the latest version of Firefox and the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. Now a few months ago, everything worked. But Adobe Flash Player updated to this latest version and BAM, now nothing recognizes I have Flash at all. That was when I was using Flashpeak Slimbrowser. Then I switched to Firefox and Youtube started working again, however nothing else is.

I've tried un-installing and re-installing multiple times, I've looked on multiple forums with various fix's and none of them worked. In fact, some of htem were so ridiculious I couldn't help but laugh. And as far as I can see, nobody has yet to say "Thank you! It's fixed!"

So, does anybody have any sort of fix? Or has Adobe just became so screwed up that their latest version is completely broken and they are too lazy to fix it?

I have windows 10 and recently updated Adobe flash to the latest version. This is where the problems began. While using an administrator account, pages that require flash in IE or Edge worked fine. But when logged on using a standard account, those pages say you need to download the latest version of Flash Player. In IE 11, Flash is enabled and ActiveX filtering is off, but Flash still doesn't work on a standard user account, but does work on administrator accounts.

This problem with using a standard user account only happens with IE 11 and Edge browsers. Adobe Flash works fine on standard accounts using Firefox and Chrome. Just wondering if others experience this.

A:Adobe flash player wont work on my new dell xps 15 laptop

Hi Rambo,

Did you ever find the Flash Player in the Add/Remove programs view?
Please uninstall the Flash player, reboot the machine, then download and reinstall it again.

Is it steam that isn't recognizing the Flash Plugin? Because the Flash plugin is only really used in the Browser-view of steam and shouldn't affect it's functionality in any other way.

If both are installed and problem persists after reboot, also Repair steam from Add/Remove programs after Flash has been installed, to make sure that Steam knows it's installed from the start.

Otherwise get back to us with more information, what error codes you get, where it won't load etc etc.

Hello,

Gringo did a great job a couple of weeks ago in helping me resolve my computer conflicts. After everything seemed to be back to normal, I followed his suggestion and installed the three maintenance/anit-malware programs (Malwarebytes, MSE, and WinPatrol). Just yesterday I started to receive pop-ups from WinPatrol saying the following:

"A new auto Startup Program has been detected. Type: RunOnce; Often required for software updates and new installations. This program will only run once, the next time you restart your computer. Do you approve the addition of this program startup setting? Press Yes if this program is expected and acceptable. 'ADOBE FLASH PLAYER INSTALLER/UNINSTALLER' C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil32_11_3_300_257_ActiveX.exe -update activex"

I kept pressing no at first and the same pop-up would come appear about 3-4 times and then the WinPatrol website page would come up. I then decided to press 'yes' and restarted my computer, but the pop-ups still keep coming up. Very frustrating. Please help.

Thank you,

Michael

Greetings nyseman and Welcome back to the Forums,Adobe has certainly had it's share of vulnerabilities...and it seems the version you have installed may already be one that's been exploited. Maybe not, but quirky nonetheless. There are a few suggestions you can consider:This link will show you exactly which flash player version is currently installed. The latest version is 11.4.402.287, so once you click there look for your installed version next to the flashing red arrow. If it's less than the version listed above, then follow the instuctions there under the Solution section to download the uninstaller for flash player. When you finish, you can return to that web page to confirm that flash player has been removed. Next, install the latest version Here. I would suggest you remove the check from the option box to install McAfee Security Scan Plus before you click the download button. After the download completes, you must close the browser before installing the addon. Then...when you finish with it all, you should once again return to the web page listed above to confirm you indeed NOW have the latest version installed. One last suggestion. If...when you worked with Gringo, he advised you to install FileHippo's Update checker tool, then I suggest you use that often to look for updates to your installed software. If he hadn't made that suggestion, then please install This Free Utility and get into the habit of checking often to see if your software has been u... Read more

Have you installed Flash Player for IE as well as for Chrome/Firefox.  They are separate installs and so need to be installed separately in IE and in Chrome or Firefox (there is one version of Flash Player for all plugin based browsers).  If you have Flash Player for IE installed try resetting Internet Explorer - see below.

Close all Internet Explorer and Explorer windows that are currently open.

Reopen Internet Explorer.

Click the Tools button , and then click Internet options.

Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.

In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.

When Internet Explorer finishes applying default settings, click Close, and click OK. You'll need to restart your PC for these changes to take effect.

We have IE 6. Say a user goes to MSN.com. The ad on the right is a Flash object. Some of our users will see that object flickering when scrolling up or down on the page or when hovering their mouse over it. It's quite annoying. Almost all users are running Adobe Flash Player 9, but I think I've seen this happen on systems with Macromedia Flash Player 8 as well. Other systems don't have the problem. I've seen this happen on one system and not another while both seemed to have the same Flash objects installed.

Uninstalling all Flash players using Adobe's prescribed Flash Player uninstall tool seems to work at first, but users later complain again. Note that they just about always end up installing Flash Player 9 again, because sites ask for it. I don't believe I've seen this on any XP systems at all, including my own, but most of our users have Win2K.

Does anybody know why this happens or how to permanently fix it?

Thanks,
Hotshot309

A:Ie 6 - Flash Objects Flickering - Using Adobe Flash Player 9 Activex R28 (shockwave Flash Object V. 9.0.28.0)

More info: Adobe Flash Player 9, Macromedia Flash Player 8, and Macromedia Flash Player 10 all produce the same result--Flash objects that flicker when you put your mouse over any part of them. Moving Flash objects will flicker constantly while moving and stop flickering when the animation is done. SWF files (at least the one at www.stormwerks.com/linked/stuf/AYB2.swf) work without a problem when using Adobe Flash Player 9.

If I don't have Adobe Flash Player 9 installed, the Win2K machines prompt me to install them for almost any site that uses Flash (I guess most recent Flash objects cannot be viewed with the older Macromedia Flash Players).

Any suggestions?

Hello, I don't know if this is the right place to put this or not as i don't know whether this is a driver problem or soundcard issue, so i thought i would just put it in here...

So, I recently re-installed vista ultimate on my PC. Since then, when i pause a song on any media player i have tried (songbird, windows media player, windows media centre) when i try to play again after leaving it for a minute or so, the song doesn't play and the program crashes. Once that has happened, the sound on my PC doesn't work at all and I have to reboot. I have soundMAX integrated digital audio, which i know isn't great but i have had this PC for quite a while and it has never done this before. I haven't changed any specs, all i have done is reinstalled vista ultimate. I have tried to update the drivers for the soundMAX but it says they are already up to date. Any ideas?

Thanks

A:Adobe flash player Adobe flash player active x

Adobe Flash Player has several variants for different operating systems and browsers and is now on version 11.9.  The active-x variant is used with Windows Internet Explorer.  There is another Windows variant for plugin based browsers, such as Firefox.  There are variants for Mac OS X and Linux, although the last version produced for Linux was 11.2.

Hi,

I have Windows Vista 32 bit and from the beginning I have problems opening pdf's from internetsites: my computer suggests that I install the recent version of Adobe what I did (succesfully as adobe says). I tried some of the suggestions I found on the internet: uninstall - install, execute as administrator, change the compatibility to Windows server pack 2, upgrated the internet explorer, but still it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot, Swaantje

I have just installed Windows XP on a laptop I have aquired - a Dell Latitude D505. The hard drive was formatted and a clean install of Windows XP done. I installed all the relevant drivers for the hardware, and set Windows Update going to get to SP3 as soon as I could.

However, I have noticed that after about 10 mins of using Flash, Adobe Flash slows down and goes glitchy. The only way to make it stop is to reboot. I am running the latest Flash player and plugin, V11. This does not happen on my (much faster) Latitude D520 - or my slower desktop computer.

Here's what I have tried:
Uninstalling and re-installing Flash
Downgrading to V10.2 - same thing happens
Clearing Firefox's cache (using RAM back)
Turning on gaming mode on 'Avast'
Increasing the page file size to 1gb
Set Windows to 'Performance Mode'

I have not scanned for Adware and Malware as this was a clean, offline install. Surely if Flash player was corrupted, it would do it all the time. It's as if an error is encountered, but because of plug-in container, Flash tries to continue regardless.
I already use Grease Monkey to run flash in low quality, as it is reasonably slow to start off with, and also AdBlock Plus. I have tried Firefox 3.6, Firefox Beta 4 and Google Chrome, but the same thing happens each time. I know the laptop is capable of running Flash fine, as it does so for around 10 mins, and then stops responding.

I even looked at my CPU usage. It goes up and down, but e... Read more

Hi Squeaky3 welcome to TSG.

I don't have a cure for your problem but I do know that for me Flash and Avast were not good bedfellows. In fact once I removed Avast, other programs ran much smoother too. Perhaps its something to do with slower or older machines !

Hi,

My friend recently asked me to help her download some music video flv files from the website MTVIggy. I normally use Orbit Downloader for saving flv's I like from youtube but it doesn't seem to work on this site. I've tried a program called Replay Media Catcher but ut also doesn't work. Does anyone know of a program/tool that is actually capable of downloading the flv files from MTVIggy?

Thank you for your help. It is greatly appreciated.

A:How to record rtmp:// flash video .flv stream from embedded Adobe Flash Player

As the site is owned by Viacom/MTV, my guess is that it is DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected and videos can't be downloaded. I normally use Real Player when I need to download embedded videos but I don't think it will work and I'm not aware of a free product that will download DRM protected videos.

I uninstalled Adobe Flash with their uninstall tool because I read somewhere you needed to update it because of major security flaw. I went over to the Adobe website to try and find an update, as well as a tutorial on how to update, as I had no idea what version I had. Their website is a mess unless you want to purchase something, and then you can find whatever your want. Since I had no idea what version of player, I just DL their uninstall tool, then DLed their new flash. I used their uninstall tool, and then reinstalled the new Adobe Flash Player. The only PU that came up was that it couldn't install in Opera. I went looking to try and configure it, then I read in the post below, you had to go to the link, http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/ for shockwave, and figured it would lead me to flash and all that crap. I remembered what a PIA it was. I went over there, and it says flash works, but I still don't know if it's the latest flash or not. On the right it says I need to install "other sw", but that probably because I don't have shockwave installed. BTW, when I used their uninstaller from an administrator account, it completely wiped out my FX profile in the limited user account for some reason. It didn't do anything to the FX profiles in the administrator's accounts. I keep an updated copy of the limited user account's FX profile, and just reinstalled it, but I'm sick and tired of adobe flash and all the BS your have ... Read more

A:Adobe Flash uninstall tool,& is there a better/safer flash player w/o the hassles?

The flash player for IE and Firefox is in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash. The IE one is called Flash9f.ocx and for Firefox its NPSWF32.dll.

You can view current version, by going to a page with a flash object on the web page, right click on the Flash object and select About Adobe Flash Player 9 and it will take you to Adobe site and display version.
You can also get version from the files about on the Version or Details tab of its properties.

As for removal, just either use the Uninstall tool in the same folder (See above) or delete all the files in the folder to remove it.

Not sure where this should end up,but I'm sure it will be guided to the correct forum,as always.
After doing quite a bit of reading today,I decided that the Adobe PDF viewer is a resource hog. I uninstalled any traces of it I could find in my add/remove programs part of my pc. Just a few minutes ago while reading another post here at BC, I discovered I had to install Adobe Flash player to view an article thru YouTube.
My question is how does flash differ from the pdf viewer? They're both an Adobe thing, right?

I opted to download a small viewer called Sumatra,by the way.

Thanks

It's a different product and unlike Adobe Reader, there are no alternatives for Flash.

I'm not really even sure if this is what it is. I just got my laptop a week ago with Windows Vista installed.

When I'm on internet sites that run Flash Player (i.e. facebook), internet starts to slow down, then IE just shuts down and then restarts. My laptop doesn't shut down, just IE.

It's not my IP or network because my son's and husband's laptop don't have any browser issues. Just mine.

The first couple of times this happened, I received a diagnostic message. Unfortunately, I can't remember what it was because I haven't seen the message since. I do know that it suggested I uninstall Flash Player Active X and re-install, which I did.

Still having the same problem, but now without any error messages of any kind telling me where I should look for issues.

Dell tech support just refers me to GeekSquad and GeekSquad wants to charge me $300 to diagnose my computer, which I think is completely ludicrous since I've only had it for 1 week.

Help?

A:IE Shuts Down when Flash Player runs?

Have you tried any other browser with your laptop? It may be an issue with the browser rather than the active-x.
Only thing i can find out that may help is that Flash seems to have aproblem installing properly with vista. http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401499&sliceId=2
that doesnt seem like it has much to do with your problem but it may be that flash is not installing properly and hence internet explorer causes the error, hence the restarting. Try re-installing it along those guidelines and it may help but it may not. Worth a try. Also try another browser if all else fails. Firefox should work alright.

Dell Latitude C610, Windows XP, CPU 1 GhZ.

I watch a lot of live-streamed events, or I used to, but this computer can't hack it anymore. Actually, I say "the computer" can't, but it actually seems to be a problem with Flash.

Everything livestreamed using flash player runs in slow motion, and then lurches/jerks ahead to where it's present, and then does the slow-motion/lurch-ahead thing ad nauseum.

I have the same problem with about half of the videos from youtube/other video sites as well. When I pause them, it takes a few seconds to sort of "catch up" and then finally pause.

I got around this problem for awhile by strictly using an old version of Flash, but eventually I got a message on just about every site saying, "You are using an older version of Flash, please update," and not playing the live event or video.

I took my problems to the official Flash forum, where a user (not an Adobe rep) suggested I try an older Flash version again, but it won't install...I get an Adobe Message basically saying, "this isn't the current version, please use the current one."

Adobe also suggested testing an HTML5 and Non-HTML5 video to help pinpoint the problem (if both don't play right, they say, the problem is not with Flash but with your computer). I tried their HTML5 video. Same problem. Non-HTML5 video played perfectly. They gave no insight on what to do with this diagnosis.

Another tip I read that worked for ... Read more

I'm having trouble installing the latest version of Adobe Flash Player, and so is our IT guy. When I'm using Firefox, I get a message that sites need Flash Player installed. Our IT guy has administrator rights, and even he can't understand why it won't install. It starts installing, but then comes up with a message that it can't load metafile? He recently upgraded me from XP to Vista. I'm having problems with some software that uses IE to run, and he says that Flash Player is the problem. Can anyone help?

A:Adobe Flash Player

Usually the message is caused by a third party Firewall or AV with some manner of web protection
If you have those try temporarily disabling them whilst downloading and installing the Firefox flash
So after disabling them please follow this
Installing Flash using the Plugin Finder Service

Go to a page that uses Flash such as Adobe's test page.

A yellow notification bar will appear above the webpage. Click Install Missing Plugins. The Plugin Finder Service window will appear. An info panel will appear above the webpage. Click Install Flash and the Plugin Finder Service window will appear.
Select the most recent version of Flash listed, then click Next >.
If Windows asks to allow Adobe Flash Player to make changes to your computer, click Yes.

In the Flash installer window, click the check box next to I have read and agree to the terms of the Flash Player License Agreement and then click the INSTALL button that will become activated, to begin the installation.
If that does not work please follow this
Installing the Flash plugin manually

Go to the Flash Player download page at Adobe.com and download the Flash installer. Caution: Adobe's download page may include a checkbox for optional software (such as Google Chrome or McAfee Security Scan) that is selected by default. If you do not clear the checkbox before downloading, that software will be installed on your computer when you open the Flash installer.
When the download has finished, close Firefox.... Read more

Hello

I wonder and I have thought this is some sort of malware trying to load on my pc, I get pop ups telling me I need adobe flash player to see a video.  I know I have the correct and updated version of flash player I did get the new version already on my pc.  I do think the pop up for adobe flash player is some kind of malware and even now I still have pop ups that says either deny or except the popup. I have done a adwcleaner and restart in safe mode and cleaned up files etc.

any help on this.

thank you for reading

I have a Windows XP Dell Dimension 8200 desktop with 1024 MB RAM. Going to dxdiag, I noticed that my video card,
NVidia GForce4 MX has an approximate total memory of 64 MB. Adobe indicates that I would need 128 MB of RAM to run Adobe Flash Player 11. I don't want to download this version if it will be less effective or will stall as my present Flash Player works fine. What would you advise?

Thanks,

Mark

Many users like myself avoid online installers like the plague.
Bad news...
As from 22 January 2016, the offline installer (aka redistributable) of Adobe Flash Player Plugin/ActiveX will no longer be available for download.

Wonder how Firefox users will update Flash. At present you have to download the installer, you cannot simply run it online.
