after installing windows 7 optimum, no audio out put, device is not installed

Q: after installing windows 7 optimum, no audio out put, device is not installed

hi,
i have a sony vaio, after i installed windows 7, it shows no audio output, diagnostic indicates driver problem. try to check the driver, said it is up to date. The sony support say they need to "install compatible windows components and reconfigure the settings in the computer", with a fee. I do not think it is worth it for this older computer to do that (A plan of one year service of $149.99).
Is there something we can do here to resolve the problem?
thank you very much

A: after installing windows 7 optimum, no audio out put, device is not installed

more info:
with the troubleshooting, it said:"SoundMax Integrated digital audio has a driver problem", maybe the driver is not compatible with windows 7. or do i have to get a new sound card?

I am not on a Windows 7 machine right now but I have a few ideas of what is going on. Without being on Windows 7 or vista it is hard to explain so I found this tutorial that would tell you exactly what I would tell you. Follow these steps and see if this works

If that doesn't work, it could be a driver issue

I was working without any problems... today I booted up and had no sound. Checked Device Manager and can see "Intel High Definition Audio HDMI" under "Sound, video and game controllers".

Tried updating driver for sound card and it says I have the latest driver. Tried playing mp3 via Real Player and it says no audio device installed. Everything looks fine, but, no sound. Speaker icon has the red circle with white x.

Hi all,

Just bought a new HP Pavilion x2 (laptop/tablet hybrid) and it has been working perfectly for about a week. Suddenly went to start it up and it had done some updates which has left me with no audio. When I open up the Sound through search, under the Playback tab there is only "No Audio Devices are Installed" (with both Show Disabled and Disconnected Devices ticked).

I have gone through device manager and under Sound, Video and game controllers there is only: "Conexant I2S Audio Codec" as a driver. I have uninstalled this, reinstalled it, updated driver software (from my computer and internet), disabled it, added legacy hardware and tried a varied combination of these from various forums and guides and nothing has worked.

There is still a little red x next to my volume control. If it is of any help my speakers are B&O (says so on the side of the screen).

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this has been driving me insane (when I should be studying). Thanks!

So I dual booted Windows XP and Windows 7 today, and everything works fine except for the fact that I have no audio whatsoever. I attempted to install the drivers for my Sound card, but they kept popping up with a message saying the hardware was not detected on this system. I am running a modified Dell Dimension 4600. When I go to device manager, there is a yellow exclamation point next to Multimedia Audio Controller and PCI Input device. I have been trying to fix this for hours, but to no avail. If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to anyone who takes their time to look at this.

A:No Audio Output Device is installed. Windows 7.

You could try the windows vista driver and if it won't install and you get an error do the following :

To install a driver/program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista etc - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

Link to hp site with vista driver - Software & Driver Downloads HP Pavilion dv9819wm Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

If your hp uses the realtek audio chip you can go here and download the latest w7 driver - download from Guru3D.com

If none of this works you could find a similar laptop on the hp site and if it uses the conexant audio and supports W7- download it and try it. Or just bing or google for a W7 32 bit audio driver for your dv9819wm laptop.

Hey guys, English is not my first language so I'm not familiar with the Computer Science vocabulary. I've had a Pavilion dv9700, Model # dv9819wm, for approximately 2 years. My hard drive failed and the guys at my school were able to recover 60 GB of files but most of them don't have an ordinary format. They are just saved on a folder on my desktop. They installed Windows 7, (It was Windows Vista before the failure) and I've been having problems with the coprocessor and "ethernet" drivers. Yesterday I uninstalled the "ethernet" driver and when my laptop rebooted the audio driver was nowhere, (obviously I have no audio), which was surprising since that was not the one I uninstalled. My Sound device is not shown on Device Manager either. I uploaded some applications that identify missing drivers and apparently the sound driver is the newest one available. I got on BIOS and the sound button was enabled. I went to HP's website and the only audio drivers offered for my laptop model were for OS Vista. When I try to automatically install the driver from another HP application it says something like my "Compatibility..." is not permitting a correct installation. First, what is going on? and is there any way I can get my pictures and videos from those 60 GB into a normal format/structure?. Thank you. Hope the post is not too long but I tried to give as much information as possible.

I had the same prob. After hours of research on the web I joined this forum but still no solutions. I waited for answers to your post but still nothing meanwhile I kept looking and I found this somewhere:
1. Select IDT High Definition Audio CODEC on Device Manager.
2. Select Driver tab.
3. Click Update Driver... button.
4. Select Browse my computer for driver software.
5. Select Let me pickup a list of device drivers on my computer.
6. Select High Definition Audio Device (Not IDT High Def... this is important.) and click Next.
Appears Warning message, but reply Yes.
7. Windows has successfully update your driver software.
It did solve my prob but I can't tell if it'll help you. Anyways I'm no expert I'm just trying to help cause this prob made me really frustrated.

Hi Everyone,

When I used windows update, it installed VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller successfully, but that only works occasionally. The sound goes blank all of a sudden. I have tried other audio drivers like Real tek AC 97 V. 6305, but they do not work either. I have also tried few driver scan software, but no use.

Ok, so... I have vista sp2. My sound stops working and my system tray icon says no audio output device is installed. First I go to device manager to check drivers. The sound, video and game controllers section is not there. Weird. I check services.msc, everything is cool. I spend 3 hours in online chat with HP support and they just tell me to do what I already did. They also send to a Microsoft fixit, which also didn't work.

Any suggestions?

I've been looking around to see if anyone's had the exact same problem I'm having, but I haven't seen any.

Here's what went down:

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 from Windows XP SP2 and voila--no sound.

The lil speaker thing in the taskbar has a red "X" on it and a message that says there are no audio output devices installed. Well, I checked Device Manager and viewed Sound, Video, and Game Controllers for any sound drivers and they're there. Installed correctly.

I've tried many fixes that have worked for others: Disabled then re-enabled the driver; un-installed then re-installed; checked for hardware changes; updated the driver software (it was already up-to-date). None of it worked.

I used to have a driver named "Realtek HD Audio Device" before the upgrade, but that no longer seems to exist. I think I need a UAA High Definition Bus Driver, but my attempts at getting one didn't work.

If that's not how to solve this problem, does anyone else here know a way?

EDIT: I should probably also note that recording devices work...It's just the output sound/speakers that aren't working. I dunno if it's just that an HP Pavilion Slimline s7415c can't fully support Windows 7 or if it's just Windows 7 being stupid since it seems to give a lot of its users problems regarding sound.

Plus in Device manager it does not look as if you have any yellow problem markers so am a bit perplexed.
Try the driver from the Asrock site and see just make sure it is the Windows 7 version (there are two).

You can get the drivers from the Inspiron 15z 5523 html page. Use either the Win 8.1 driver (labelled "WB64A") or one of the Win7 ones. First go into Device Manager and right click on the Realtek High Definition Audio Device to open the context menu, then "uninstall" and check the box to "delete the driver software for this device."
When you re-boot Windows will remove the Realtek driver and install its native audio driver. See if audio works. Then you can install an IDT driver over the native driver without removing it first.
If neither the native nor IDT driver helps, try reverting to your previous operating system. If the audio still does not work then the hardware has probably failed. If it does work in the previous OS, then perform a clean installation of Win10 and see if it works.

Ok. So I upgraded my Toshiba Satellite U300 laptop from Vista to 7 in October - mainly to end the issue I was having with the audio output device not working. My issue was resolved and I have had no problems until today. I turned on my laptop and there was that ominous red X over the speaker symbol in the lower right hand corner and when I mouse over it, it says, "No audio output device is installed."

I ran the troubleshooter and the results of the scan for hardware changes comes back with little yellow caution signs with exclamation points in them telling me there are problems but not giving me any help as to how to fix them.

I went to the Toshiba site and downloaded and ran the Realtek audio driver for windows vista/7, restarted the laptop and found no change.

Then I downloaded and ran the Conexant audio driver for vista/7, restarted the laptop and found no change.

When I go to Start, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Device Manager, there is NO Sound/Audio Driver in the list.

Is there anyone out there who can help me at all? I'm beyond the point of frustration over this.

I'm trying to fix an hp pavillion dv6704nr laptop running windows vista home premium. It has the little red x on the speaker in the lower right hand corner. The owner said it has been there for some months. I have tried downloading the current audio drivers for the computer but every time I try to install the driver, I get an error that says the device couldn't be found.

The first time i restarted the computer, after the driver installation failed, the audio came back and worked fine, until I had to restart the computer. Now I keep getting the same error and nothing i have found so far online has helped.

There are no yellow triangles in the device manager and the device list isn't showing the category for "sound, video and gaming etc." at all.

Please help. I did a search but the other threads didn't solve this problem for me.
Thanks in advance.

I see three different audio driver packages at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...ct=3646926#N661.You need to find the right one to install. If you install one and the system doesn't work properly...please uninstall it before trying the next one.Installing the wrong one won't do anything harmful to your system...it just won't do any good to leave it installed.Louis

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on my Dell Inspiron E1505.

I have had no problems with it for several years; however, recently my computer has booted with a red 'X' on my audio and tells me that "No Audio Output Device is Installed." I checked my Drivers and my High Definition Sound and 2 Base System Device drivers have Yellow Question Marks by them. I tried to update the drivers manually but it says Windows Cannot Find Support for your Base System Device and it says my High Definition Audio is already up to date. I have also tried uninstalling the drivers and rebooting Windows to let the system automatically search and update the drivers. This too has failed. I do not have my Windows 7 disc available at the moment to be able to do a clean install.

Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and thanks for looking

HP Dv9705ea. In a mess; History uncertain (belonged to daughters friend) and Ive been asked to fix it.
So reinstall Vista (Home Premium) SP2 x86 - no problem
Windows updates - no problem
But - no sound. Speaker icon has red cross and message No Audio Device Installed
Control Panel ->Sounds: Same message (Disabled and disconnected devices both ticked)
Device manager has no sounds device (not even an audio, video and game controllers group) even with show hidden devices)
I checked the HP website and there are two sets of audio drivers (Conextant and Raeltek)
Tried installing Conextant but they reported 'no hardware found'
Raeltek installed OK with no messages (so hopefully the PC has Raeltek audio hardware?)
But still no sound

So I am beginning to think I have a hardware problem? Is this likely?
Is simply replacing the sound card likely to fix it?
All thoughts welcome
KR
R

PS I ran SFC /scannow. Trying to open the log file CBS produced an audible beep (with the error message access denied) ! First sounds Ive heard the PC make!
SFC reports that it fixed a number of corrupt files so I rebooted

A:No Audio Device Installed; No audio, vidweo game controlers group

90% is an hardware problem...can you please tell me what happens when you connect the headphones into the jack?
if you can hear sounds there is a problem on integrated speakers...otherwise there is a problem with your audiocard...BUT download and burn a Linux UBUNTU LIVE distribution and launch it....try to play any sound...if works torough integrated speakers, you may have got wrong drivers for your windows installation.

No sound.
Little speaker with the red 'x' appeared yesterday
I have gone through the whole update drivers circus to no avail, my laptop can't detect that it has speakers built in so it doesn't bother finding a driver for them.

This is where I am at:
- Intel Display Audio is the only driver installed for sound
- This means that sound works when the laptop is plugged into an HDMI
- When HDMI is not plugged in, the computer cannot find the built in speakers.
- I have Linux on this system and audio does not work there as well

I would call this a broken chipset, but the fact that the computer still processes audio with the HDMI cable attached is confusing me. Also, the 'audio board' for this laptop has 2 usb ports attached to it, and those both work fine.

Any help would be appreciated

Hello.

Im having the dreadful "No Audio Output Device is Installed" problem on my realtek audio.

It worked some months ago, but im in no position to do a roll back. Im sure the hardware is just fine, it works with Ubuntu.

The computer is a Dell Vostro 430.
My OS is win7 64bit.

I tried the newest Realtek driver suite, the recommended dell-drivers and some basic windows-drivers. Nothing makes the "No Audio Output Device is Installed" go away.

Any help is welcome.
Ive attached my sound-related reg. I believe my realtek device is 0001.

A:Realtek Audio: No Audio Output Device is Installed

The Dell driver is required, non Dell drivers will either not work or not work correctly.

First thing, is the Integrated Audio enabled in the BIOS? (F2 at boot up to enter Setup).

Second, on Dell's (and many others) if the motherboard chipset drivers were not installed, the sound device will not work. In this model there are Intel motherboard chipset drivers. Try installing them and then the Dell sound driver. Dell Drivers

I have a Lenovo G510 running Windows 10, upgraded from 8.1 long ago.  I'm not sure if there was a recent update that caused this problem, but one evening everythings was fine, and I know because I fell asleep with the "Simply noise" website playing white noise, and when I woke up, there was no sound.  I tried all the normal fixes (reinstalled drivers in device manager, downloaded latest drivers directly from Lenovo website and tried them, restarted Audio Endpoint and Audiosrv in taskmanager, even went into regedit and checked that the value for the audio endpoint was correct, but made no registry changes) all to no avail.I was beginning to think that there was a wiring problem and was getting ready to open it up and look around, but decided to try something else first.  I put in my ubuntu live cd and restarted without installing ubuntu.  All audio works in Ubuntu. Speakers, headphone and mic jacks, and I even tried my usb>headphones/mic adapter and everything works.  I'm planning to dualboot ubuntu while waiting to find a fix in windows, but I've never had a dedicated Linux machine so I'd like to still be able to turn to Windows since I'm about to go back to school in a few weeks. Please let me know if there's a fix out there for this that I haven't tried, or if I need to post more information to check for other problems that may have caused this.  Thanks in advance! -Tronk

ok...this is super super weird. I upgraded a 2005 compaq presario from XP to Win 7. Everything is fine except sound. I receive the no audio device installed message. I've done all the fixes in windows...uninstalling drivers, updating drivers EVERYTHING. Nothing works. I've even reinstalled the Win 7 pkg to no avail.
But here's where things get interesting. Prior to all of this. I had XP sharing the computer with Xubuntu. Under both systems, the sound was fine. Video actually streamed better in xubuntu. So I know the issue isn't hardware...the sound card, motherboard and what not. I re-loaded xubuntu back alongiside and once again I have sound thru xubuntu. No sound through Win 7.
Is there anything short of using xubuntu solely that I can do to get this Win7 audio issue resolved?
For what it's worth the driver isn't realtek...it's multimedia audio controller.
I haven't found much online about it.
I hear USB speakers might do the trick.

Thanks

Hi guys, I really appreciate for those who helping. My Sony Vaio has installed Windows 7 Ultimate for a long time ago. But recently, my audio has muted or whatever has happened. I tried to look up the sound system in Device Manager, none of the system listed is related to sound or audio. Troubleshooted also not helping. Not to forget, I have tried Recovery System as well to about a week before this and nothing happen. I have looked up into few forums to find the solution. Most of it is ask to try Realtek, but unfortunately, I downloaded and installed it until its asked to restart the computer and still nothing changed. Is there any others possible way to solve my problem before i format and change OS?

A:Audio device not installed

Have you tried downloading and reinstalling the drivers from Sony's website? Just to let you know that model of laptop that you have came with windows Vista Business if not here is the link to the drive. as well as if you wish you could reformat and return to windows Vista and that way you will know every thing is going to work the way Sony intended it to work. Also you can try downloading CCleaner and try cleaning the registery and removing junk files off your hard drive and then reinstall the drivers from Sony's website, might be something as simple as a dirty registry key.

VGN-TT16GN : TT Series : VAIO&reg Notebook & Computer : Sony Asia Pacific

The link below will let you download drivers, although when you select Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit then you need to select OS/Upgrade or Downgrade and scroll down the page and you will see the audio drive.

The second location is Control Panel - Sound. There are no drivers installed.

Laptop- Compaq Presario F700 windows vista home premium. Conextant Audio 221.
I have been experiencing the dreaded NO AUDIO DEVICE IS INSTALLED warning with the red X over the speaker Icon. The problem is that it comes and goes. Sometimes the X IS gone but Ill still have no sound, sometimes I have perfect sound, but it is rare. At times when I do have sound or no X but still no sound, my video and gaming is choppy and freezes. I have reinstalled the sound drivers several times and have even reinstalled Windows. To me it sounds like a hardware resources problem or IRQ conflict, it could be very well a bad motherboard but I was hoping the was a fix other than that.
Thanks in advance for any info on this problem

Im running a Toshiba Satellite laptop (U300-TP208C) Ive done many searches here and found out lots of people have solved this problem by going into my Control Panel, switching to Classic View, and opening the Device Manager. Then opening the Sound folder, clicking on the Realtek and telling it to DISABLE, then ENABLE.

However, I do not have this folder in my Device Manager:

So I tried other fixes.
I have searched Toshiba site and downloaded the Realtek HD sound driver and no luck. I have done windows update as someone else suggested. I have installed the Realtek HD sound driver while in SAFE mode, and still no luck.
I also tried doing a system restore and have yet to get rid of that dang red X.

If I click on the Volume Mixer icon it says "no audio device installed". However, all the indicators in the Device Manager say it is working. Remove or disable the driver in the Device Manager, then download and install the latest driver. If that doesn't work, go back to the next previous driver.

Like Wildneon, I too have no audio device installed.
I have an A8n 32Sli deluxe mobo and installed a fresh installation of Vista Home Premium. Drivers worked for a bit then bang - no audio output device installed now sits in the task bar with a red cross over the volume icon.
I have re-installed the card, updated all drivers. I have removed 2GB of Ram to see if that makes a difference. But all to no avail. I do not have the Sigma Tel driver that is known to cause this problem. The only other device marked problem is the Texa Instrument s 1EEE host controller, which I believe is unrelated.
The card works prefectly in an older machine and an older card works perfectly in Vista.
But the Creative Sounblaster fatal1ty FPS will not work.
The motherboard must recognise it as it qappears under device manager and yet Vista tells me nothing is installed. Can anyone solve this conundrum?
Mike

A:No audio out device is installed too! Please help!!!

Strangely enough, #I had a very similar problem. Same soundcard- soundblaster fatal1ty- but on mine i lost 3 of the 5 speakers, for no apparent reason. The sound on the remaining 2 was awful, so I decided to uninstall the card, remove it, and go back to on board sound. Since then, I acquired 7.1 speakers, so I tried the fatal1ty again. Uninstalled the onboard drivers, disabled it in bios, installed the fatal1ty, and wonder of wonders, it workes! The only difference was that after installing drivers from the supplied CD, I let it do an auto update for latest drivers, so this may be the problem.
So... I would sugest complete uninstall, and physically remove the card. Let the onboard sound install, let it go for a short time, and see if it works properly. If it does, uninstall onboard sound, reinstall the fatal1ty, disable on board sound in BIOS, then install the fatal1ty drivers and get an auto update. Hopefully that will solve the problem. Alternatively, just get an update, if you havent already, and see if it works then.
Have a feeling this is another one of Vistas little tricks.. hehe

Without any PC spec's it makes it hard to try and help.

Is this a new install and it never worked? Or has it worked and now does not?

If this is a PC with in-built audio (on the motherboard) is it enabled in the BIOS? Also has the motherboard chipset drivers been installed or reinstalled?

The motherboard I was using for a while had a weird thing with the build in motherboard sound. Whenever I unplugged my headphones or something it would take me hours of resetting and waiting for them to actually work again. Then one day when I had to move I had to unplug my headphones and I couldn't get my sound to work on my computer ever since and now it has a X on the sound on the bottom right. I am not computer illiterate.. I do know that it isn't muted. I have updated all the drivers to the most recent and still nothing. I right click on the volume icon and it says no audio device is installed when clearly there is when I go to the device manager and there is Realtek High Definition Audio in the list. I have tried disabling it and re-enabling and also uninstalling it and the software and restarting the computer to download the driver again itself. Still nothing. The other day I bought a new motherboard to hopefully fix the sound issue but unfortunately it has not because it looks like the bad settings from the other board is still there in the system. My system specs are:

Windows Vista Home Basic 32 Bit
EP45-UD3L - Giga-Byte Motherboard
4 Gigs of ram
Geforce GT 240 Graphics Card

I'd put in screen shots but apparently I can't do that until 5 posts....

If anyone knows any solution to my problem can you please help me out. I love to play games on my computer and they just aren't the same without sound

A:No audio device installed

Did you reinstalled your windows?

It is recommended that if you replace system's motherboard, you must reinstall the windows as well. There are some tricks to avoid that but I wouldn't recommend it, because usually at some time you eventually do run into trouble with such.

Have you checked your system's logs? you can do so by going to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer and under Windows Logs review Application & System Logs and see if they tells you something.

Also right click on my computer and then go to device manager, scroll down to sound, video and game controllers and see what is the status of y our sound card ?

Basically, my computer doesn't think it's got any audio devices installed. There are some system sounds, but not all and I can't use any media-player (except winamp sometimes) programmes. I can't alter anything to do with audio devices because the window is always blanked out, like this:

I've tried everything I can think of to no avail:
Update all drivers
Un-install and re-install cards and drivers
Full system scan for bugs (none - woo-hoo!)
Bios updates and checks
Device manager checks
Conflict checks
MSconfig checks

All have not solved the problem hence why it's driving me maaad!

Also, the same time it started doing this, in intermitently doesn't load up the XP style taskbar and window panes... instead it reverts to a classic format (but not quite fully) Like this:

As opposed to this:

But then after a few mins the screen jumps around and that goes back to normal, but still no audio.

It's puzzled me beyond puzzling! Hope somebody can help! Thanks!

I get the above message when i try to play sound. It started suddenly last week after 6 months of working fine since i bought the pc (Sony Vaio with Realtek Soundcard).

i have been through all the troubleshooting guff and none of it works.
In the list of devices in Device Manager there is no sound card listed (just audio codecs etc) and when I try to reinstall the soundcard I get the message 'install windows bus driver first'
Its driving me mad.

2 other bits of info that may help:
when this occured, I had an electric guitar plugged into the laptop via a Pod xt sound effects box (which uses its own drivers) and was using Sonar sound studio software.

also. at the same time that this problem appeared, the clock and date on my PC mysteriously set itself back to October 2004.

I am thinking either a) conflict between Pod and Realtek has caused a problem or b) virus - hence clock reset.

But really havent a clue, have followed other threads with similar issue, all to no avail......:-(

any help much appreacited

If I recall I had problems with a realtek card as well and worked through lots of fixes to no avail. Eventually I just bought a Sound Blaster card and my headphones worked. The problem with onboard Sound Cards is you cannot test them in other PCs. Hopefully only your sound card went and it is not a sign of the motherboard working towards failing as well.

I've created a new thread for your issue here.

Note: You will need to post complete details of your configuration and your specific issue in this new thread for us to help you.

Thanks for your cooperation.

You might start with the make/model of the laptop, and exactly what "update" you did. Also, what version and patch level of Windows are you using?

I lost my audio device and have tried repeatedly to reinstall it with no such luck. It is Realtek HD Audio. I have Windows 7 x64

A:No Audio Device Installed

So...your current computer was upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 (looking at your specs)?
If so, that could be the reason for the loss of your audio device; no Windows 7 drivers to support your XP hardware, or you don't have the correct driver installed.

If you didn't have XP previously, could you please elaborate more on the problem you are having, and what changes you may have made/software installed/Windows updates etc, prior to the audio problem?

For a while now(speaking in month terms), my sound would be working just fine. But sometimes when I put it into hibernate(for the night) and turn it back on, my speaker icon would have a red X over it. The only way this goes away is if I leave the computer off for a long time or, spam restarts(lol). What can be the problem here? My guess is that it's getting old or something.

Also, when I try to find it in the device manager, it doesn't show up. It can't even detect it either.

Also, I reinstalled the drivers yesterday, and it worked again....for another few hours. So when I retried doing that, windows update didn't detect the sound card.

I have been having some problems with my audio not working. I've searched all over the internet but it seems that no one has encountered my problem or I have just not been looking hard enough. It seems as though everyone gets "No audio output device is installed" but that's not my problem. I checked all my drivers and they seem fine, there is no yellow mark in the device manager plus it seems as if the audio output device is installed but something is making it not work. I run Windows Vista home premium 32bit on a dv6000 hp pavilion with conexant HD audio which I believe are offboard. If this helps recently my computer was infected with antispyware soft which I have no idea how it got on my computer one day it just popped up and kept giving my comp the bsod by shutting off rundll32.exe. So I went into safe mode and deleted all the registry keys as well as its [randomletters]tssd.exe file. After I did this it went away but as soon as I logged on my audio got this weird X around it (as shown in the following screen shot). I am currently under the impression that there is nothing I can do to fix it, but if someone can prove me other wise I'll love you long time =]. Sorry for this long block of text but all help is appreciated.

Hi!
I've got a HP Pavilion dv9823cl, with W7, as you maybe can see in som description (i'm new).

A year ago when I had Vista, when i started the computer one time there were no sound...
Then I thought it was a driver problem so I installed W7. But, that didn't work either. There were no sound. And still now, no sound, if you look at the sound icon, it has the mute icon, and if you hover it it says "No audio device is installed". But, now and then the audio comes back. What could this be? I've been looking so long for an answer know but can't find... Maybe someone at this forum could help me?

//Best regards,
Alexander

A:No audio device is installed

Hi,

I have asimilar problem and it is still not solved but I found out certain thinghs which could be a beginning of solution.

I installed a new sound cart (trust) and installed the soft on the CD : was refused because my 32 bit WindowsXP Pro
told me the software is for a 64 bit system.

After trials with other drivers the soft was accepted but no sound. This time the comment was "this device doesnt find the necessary resources....If you want to enable this device you will have to disable other devices."

Im hesitating about what to do next... Im preparin a thread to submit my problem to Tech Support Guy.

Hi there, This problem is on my desktop Compaq SR5 605F with HP w/1707 monitor . Internal speakers. I have tried plugging in external speakers no sound then either. I have tried updating the Realtek hd audio controller. I also checked to make sure all is enabled and turned up. When I click on the volume icon it has an x over it and I get no audio device installed. Then there is a red sound icon that is realtek I get you are seeing a blank page because no audio system is plugged in. To activate GUI plug in an audio device. I have checked both ends and cable.
I hear a noise from the computer but it is ONLY static.
If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!!

I haven't turned my laptop on in a few days and when I went to go install a few games, I noticed that my sound was muted. Not all that odd, but since was going to be gaming, i wanted it up.

But It wouldn't let me unmute. I just get the following screen.

My audio device is supposed to be Soundblaster recon3d But even when I open it's control panel it's blank.

I've already looked for drivers but the program says it's up to date.
I'm not sure how to re-install or re-enable Soundblaster.

Hi. I am lost. I have a recovered Acer Aspire One, Win 7 starter edition notebook and I updated my audio driver. It's realtek. Now there is a big red X over my sound icon and the troubleshooter says the audio device is disabled. I have enabled it yet it still says that. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. Microsoft has been no help. I contacted Acer and have received no help. It is the correct driver. From reading on the net I am seeing this is a common problem for different computers, particularly Acers. In services, the audio is started. The IRQs number is 17. So, can you help? I would be so grateful. I had fine sound and all was working well until I updated the driver. Everything is still working fine except for audio. I have installed all the Windows updates I know about. Thanks. Laura

HP Pavilion Dv9700,no audio again. Operating on vista. Have tried to download drivers from hp support website with no joy. Help again please!

A:No Audio Output Device Is Installed

I found that several HP owners whose computers I service have issues with the "correct" driver from HP's site doesn't work. The error you are getting means that the driver is not compatible, so you will need to find either a previous version of the driver for you Dv9700, or you will have to fool around with drivers of other HP models close to your model number. That worked for me many times.

By the way, are you downloading the correct driver for your version of Vista?

Ok so this is my first time on this site. I'm running out of solutions and I've called two tech support places and still I havnt found a solution for my problem. The issue is rather stupid and I really don't understand why it's not working but here it goes. I don't go on this computer its my mothers and i've been working on it for the past month now. For some reason the Audio Output Device Uninstalled it's self some how and for some reason it's becoming a pain to get it back on.

I've done these things so far.

1. I've went to the device managers, uninstalled the Audio Device Driver ( Realtek High Definition Audio ) I've restarted my PC hoping it would Install the Driver. It starts it but for some reason after a few moments it always seems to fail.

2. I've even tried doing a system restore to the computer, weeks on back to see if maybe that would help and that didn't work either

3. I've called a tech support and they ran me through a thing to where I uninstall the Driver, go to the site ( I went to Acers Support Site and Downloaded the right driver for it ) I ran the download, did the set up. I rebooted my computer and STILL! It didnt work.

I talked to the Support guy again and he told me that was the weirdest thing he's ever seen. So far I still dont know what to do, I tried calling Acer Support but I can't get through so i'm guessing it's only open for so long.

So now i'm her... Read more

Did you upgrade to Windows 10 or was your system shipped with it?  If you can provide system information I will be able to better assist you. In general, if you upgraded you might look for updated drivers on www.hp.com/go/support in support and drivers to see if a new audio driver is available.

Hello,
I have installed some software that auto shuts down my PC, next day when i turn on my PC the sound was gone, i have this red "x" on that sound icon near the clock, when i hover over it it says "No audio output device installed".
If i click on it, some loading starts to detect problems, then it asks me to fix it, if i click to fix it says Device driver installation, but after few second installation fail and it says he cant install driver, then in some window it says High definition device has driver problem.

I try some software to detect broken drivers and fix them, but was no use, i even try to manually download drivers for my mother board but i actually dont know which ones to get.
And i try making update with windows update, it updated some drivers, but i still have no sound and now i cant watch videos on youtube, i just see black screen on youtube videos, but i can watch videos in media player.
I use Speccy program to tell what specs i have :

Operating System
MS Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1

Motherboard
NVIDIA NFORCE 650i Ultra (Socket 775)

Audio
High Definition Audio Device

Any help is much appreciated, thank you.

Remove the new software that shuts down your computer. Then go back to a restore point before you loaded the new software. Reboot and give it a try.

This seems to be a common issue, and I've looked and looked but nothing has solved my problem.

I'm using a Toshiba Satellite U305-S7467 running Windows Vista Home Premium.

There is a red x over the speaker icon, when I hover over the icon it says "No Audio Output Device is installed."

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers in and out of safe mode, using the windows updates that are supposed to fix the issue, countless restarts, but nothing has helped. In the device manager the driver isn't in the sound category, but there's a high definition audio device under the system devices category. I've uninstalled and reinstalled in plenty of times. Still nothing. I don't know what to do anymore.

Does anybody have anything to suggest? I really need my sound back!

Hello, everyone.

I've searched the forums for topics related to this and none seem to be able to help. In a nutshell, my sound isn't working properly. For the past few weeks the sound has been mostly non-existent. An "x" in a circle sits above my speaker icon, and it says "No Audio Output Device is installed." On rare occasions when I turn my laptop on, the sound has mysteriously resumed working. But as soon as my computer Sleeps or Hibernates, the sound is out again indefinitely. Any idea what I should do?

So you know, I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. My laptop is an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC, dv2500 series. I've tried the whole install new driver thing with the Device Manager, but it tells me all drivers are up to date. I've uploaded a few screenshots so you guys can see.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

A:No Audio Output Device is installed? Help, please!

Just was at HP's site... strange experience. In your system's spec sheet, the only hardware they list for your sound is Altec Lansing speakers. Conspicuously absent is the audio chip. I can't find any software for 7; however, looking through 64-bit Vista drivers I found you have the Conexant High-Def Audio chip (not familiar with it).

Do you happen to have any drivers similar? Conexant High-Definition SmartAudio 221 Driver HP Pavilion dv2945se Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

You don't need speaker drivers... you need drivers for the audio chip. That's why nothing is showing up under playback devices. Something strange is going on though, that's for sure. I've never heard of playback devices just up and disappearing.

First off, nice job on improving the OS. I skipped Vista and went from XP to Win7 RC. Huge improvement in ease of installation and getting set up.

But I can't find working audio drivers. Since the installation I keep getting "No Audio Output Device Installed" and a red X over my sound icon. I can install the drivers for my sound, I took the RealTek R2.24 drivers, they worked in xp. But in my Device Manager I still get a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it on my sound. Furthermore, when I open Sound, there are no devices to output to. While I have a subwoofer, 4 boxes and a headphone attached to my PC.

I don't have a sound card since I have one on-board and it worked fine before. But for some reason it doesn't detect it. My motherboard is an Asus P5GD2 Premium.

Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong? Don't be affraid to get a bit technical, I'm an it student and I like tinkering with my machine.

Hi All!

Any and every help/advice is appreciated... I have an Asus K8-8VM mobo, and (yes it's) an Athlon 3000+ (K8 proc, i know i am to upgrade in a week or 2). The problem is that every time i restart after having installed audio drivers, the OS shows that no audio device is installed. I did some comprehensive googling about the same... however, i only found that i need to switch off my dsl router, if i must have audio on Vista. XP, it does fine for playback and all, it's only Vista which is causing me grief. My speaker system is a 4.1 setup, could that be an issue?

This happens on both Vista X64 or X86 (ultimate versions)

Any and every help/advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Alright, I give up. I've tried everything I can think of to fix this damned problem so now I'm left with no choice but to seek outside help. So, last night I updated windows after a minor leave of absence from doing so. and once everything was configured my computer started insisting I had no sound drivers installed. There's a neat little red X over my audio icon and everything. I checked the control panel, and there are in fact drivers installed. I tried updating them- still nothing. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling them- still nothing. Tried a system restore, that didn't work either either. So, suggestions? I'd appreciate any help you could give me.
