When I try to view youtube videos I get an error message telling me that I either don't have Java enabled or I don't have the latest Flashplayer. Neither of these statements is true, so can anyone suggest what to do to view the videos I choose, please.

A:Viewing Youtube Videos

You need to uninstall Flash using their uninstallation tool and then reinstall the new version. Here's the link.

On my desktop computer, when I try viewing youtube videos (and videos from some other sources) full screen, the toolbar across the bottom of screen in the desktop mode remains visible, blocking my view of (and use of) the player controls at bottom of the youtube player. All I can see is the seek bar moving as the video plays. If I put the toolbar in the AutoHide mode, then I can see (and use) the youtube player controls.

On my laptop with W8, this problem does not exist. The entire player appears normally as if there were an "always on top" mode.

One difference is that the laptop had W8 factory installed, while I installed W8 over XP in my desktop. (That $39 deal offered at the beginning of the year was too good to pass up). Both computers have x64-based processors.

Computer comparisons:
Laptop: Samsung; AMD A6-4400M APU with Radeon HD Graphics, 2.70 GHz; 4.00 GB RAM, 64-bit OS
Desktop: Homebuilt; AMD Athlon Dual Core Processor 5050e; ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics (with latest driver); 2GB RAM; 32-bit OS

Neither computer has the toolbar in the AutoHide mode.

On some sites with the desktop computer, when I move the mouse pointer toward the left edge of the player, the seek bar retracts and I can't grab it to drag it to the right. I don't know the if laptop also has this problem.

Thanks for your suggestions.

A:Viewing youtube videos full screen

Mine does the same thing but if I check the auto-hide taskbar option, I get the video full screen without the taskbar. Updated to ad the fact that I am using a home-built desktop and I did read your (very well written) opening post. This is just an FYI and is not intended to be a fix for your specific issue.

Hi. I just got this problem about 3 days ago. When I am on youtube and watch a video then click on another video while this one is still playing Firefox hangs like its about to crash(I cant click anything) but it loads the next page about 10 seconds later. Then when I go on another site like Google or anything else Firefox just randomly crashes. What is going on. This is happening with IE as well. I tried uninstalling but it didn't work

This sounds like a problem with something on your computer. I am not an expert nor am I am member of the HJT forum so I can't help you with any of that. But I would recommend that you make sure that all your scans (spyware, adware etc) are up-to-date, and then run them. Also, it wouldn't hurt to have a look at this site. It has a lot of great info, by a great member.

Lets start there and see what happens.

This computer has been giving BSOD errors for a while, but I got it today when I was trying to view a video on Youtube.

How should I proceed to fix this error?

hello MrNils, welcome to Seven Forums, I will try to help you with this. I noticed a question mark beside Custom Build, was there a reason for that? Did you download the motherboard from Asus' web site or from the driver disk included with the board? The Web Site will always have more up to date drivers than the disk. If you would, please go to the web site and see if you can find any updated drivers. In your dump files, the most reoccurring driver seems to be

Just bought a new Gigabyte 6950. I installed a fresh copy of Windows with the latest driver.

While viewing a Youtube video, the system freezes and it gives me a BSOD that I have not had a chance to view the error code. I can attach the dump file if that helps.

A:Gigabyte 6950 - BSOD only when viewing Youtube videos.

Before we can proceed with the DIrectX problem you need to update these.

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

Please visit this link: Asus tek computer inc. -support- drivers and download p7p55d le

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS P5K-VM

Scroll down to the utilities category, then scroll down to the "atk0110 driver for windowsxp/vista/windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).

Download and install it.

Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers to check and make sure that the asacpi.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (not before).

ASACPI.sys 3/27/2005 10:30:36 PM

How To Find Drivers:

- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

This may not be a browser issue and could possibly be a hardware issue.

It happens with Internet Explorer and Edge, but NOT with Chrome, Opera or Firefox.

When I go to Youtube and open a video, the screen is mostly black (like a very dark negative and the image is barely visible) for about the first five seconds and then it is ok.(see attachment)

It's very annoying, as sometimes the first few seconds are an important part of the video.

If you upgraded the drivers that are the newest ones, why did you? If your driver you had was working correctly with no problems, why fix what's not wrong. Those newest drivers are for the newer 6600 to 6800 cards. It's not always advisable to upgrade to the lastest driver.

-Your system is infected with malware
-Ram is not sufficient or faulty
-Windows media player got corrupted (malware might cause this)
-Your codec files or even one might have gone corrupted (if you installed additional ones)

Recommendations :
-Check your ram. If possible try a different stick
-Download cleanup go to and do the free online scans and you can post a hjt log on this forum.
-Reinstall media player ( you can download it from MS website)
-Uninstall the codec packages. Try.
-Uninstall - reinstall your video drivers.

Later when I returned home I found I had the same problem with my bookmarked utube music videos and any others I tried to watch, but several other non music utube videos in my bookmarks played ok. Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

I have a really strange problem viewing some videos on my laptop. Most videos come up just fine but on a few websites they won't come up matter what I do. I have the latest version of flash player installed as well as Java and directX. I have no idea what I need to get the videos to work on the websites that they don't work on. One of them that I have the problem consistently on its is one: although there are also many others. I've even tried doing a reinstall of the operating system (Windows 7x64 Pro SP1) and it didn't make any difference.

I've also uninstalled and reinstalled flashplayer, shockwave and Java all with no effect on the problem. The video for this website plays on both Chrome and Firefox which leads me to believe it's a direct X problem but...

System specs are shown in the attached Speccy screen capture.

Any ideas are appreciated!

I think that it is an HTML5 problem. Uninstall Flash for IE and try to play the video again via IE.

I would suggest that you not install Flash for IE or non-IE browsers (e.g. Firefox). If you must see a video that requires Flash, temporarily use Chrome. This should offer you some protection from infected flash adverts.

Also, uninstall shockwave and Java. See if you ever miss them.

Hello all,

I apologise if I have posted this in the wrong place or if I am not clear in explaining what is wrong. I am not particularly technically minded and may use the wrong terms.
My problem is this. About a week ago I began experiancing problems viewing video clips and audio clips on the internet. I have never had this problem before and it just suddenly happened. I feel that my internet is running slower too but the rest of my computer is not.

I experiance the problem everywhere not just on particular sites. I have gone back and tested the sites on the computers of others and they work there.

Sites I have problems with include Youtube and Myspace.

Things I have done to try and solve this.

1. I have checked my internet connection speed. I noticed that according to my computer the speed seemed to be varying from 54 mbps to as low as 24 mbps. I do not know if this is important. I contacted my ISP and they told me there was nothing wrong with my line and to try switching my router on and off (I have wireless) and plugging the laptop into the router manually.

Niether of these has solved the problem.

2. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash Player. According to the Adobe website this all worked and I could see the little revolving block thingy.

This did not solve the problem.

3. A friend told me to press Ctrl Alt Delt and bring up that little box thingy which is called Windows Task Manager and look at what memory usage things are taking up. The prob... Read more

Okay, I've got a problem that's really been bugging me lately.

YouTube will not play videos in Firefox (3.6.3) on my netbook. YouTube will play in IE8, Safari, and Google Chrome...but not Firefox. I get the silly "An error occured, please try again later." message where the video should be.

YouTube works fine on my laptop. Same browser, same addons, same operating system.

Things I've tried so far:

Refresh the page...nope
move the slider on the video to force another part of the video to load....nada
try different video...tried 20+ with same result
tried different quality video...360, 480, effect
log out of
log back into YouTube...zilch
clear Firefox's
start Firefox in Safe Mode....EPIC fail (same error message as always)
reinstall Flash
reinstall Firefox....nice try
install Firefox 3.6.4 beta...yeah right

I could potentially watch YouTube in another browser, but I use Firefox so much, I don't like having to switch browsers just to watch a video. Besides, without Firefox (and my Adblock Plus addon), I have to see the ads YouTube puts up...I hate ads.

So, why do YouTube videos not play in Firefox on my netbook? This is driving me nuts. I don't like not being able to watch videos when I'm not in front of my laptop.

Anything else I can try besides a reformat and clean install?

Seriously though, have you checked your options (in firefox) to make sure you haven't changed something on the netbook?

There was one site that said if you clicked their program it would eliminate the margin. I clicked it and now the videos flash on just for a second as it normally does with the recommended videos and the video then plays by itself with nothing else around it.When the video stops its screen goes black without the usual recommended videos inside it or at the right hand sidebar. Is there any way to get it back to normal? I tried reloading the browser and changing to a new account and it still does the same thing. I have windows 7 and google chrome.I tried using ie9 and it works normally but I want google chrome back. On ie9 I tested the recommended procedure of checking share at the bottom of the video screen and making sure the check box was enabling recommended videos but I cant use that same procedure with chrome because when the video is done playing there is nothing left but the black view screen. When I am watching videos on Youtube, if I move a window cursor to read the comments (or any other text on that screen) while the video is playing, the sound stops for a second or two, and then restarts. If I move the cursor VERY SLOWLY, then the sound does not stop. But if I move it rapidly, the sound stops for a brief moment and starts again. It is very annoying and it does that every time. What happened ? Any suggestions ?

I'm currently having a lot of trouble here viewing streaming videos off youtube and dailymotion style sites.

Youtube is less of an issue. the videos load. but rather slowly.

Daily motion however i have problems with as the videos some times do not load at all. or if they do like youtube they are VERY choppy.

another thing i noticed was with youtube the progress bar does not move accross, it just remains grey.. then when the video has finished (or its gotten part way and given up) it shows the bar as full.

Now i was wondering if anyone had any ideas why this might be. I just reformated my computer (problem was occuring before i did it, and now after) i have a fair decent internet connectiong (1500kbps) and these are videos that i can pretty much stream, or watch with a short amount of time on a 512kbps account at my fathers house..

thanks heaps for any advice

My first problem is that, apparently, you cannot make the screen brighter on some lenovo laptops with windows 8. The Brightness- button is working, but once you make the screen dimmer, you cannot make it bright again using the brightness settings. I found out however that you can revert by rolling back some drivers. It worked every time when my screen would get dimmer for whatever reason. Yet, yesterday, it happened again and I forgot what to do about it and I ended up uninstaling the Intel Graphics 4000 driver from my computer by mistake. When I tried reinstalling it, it would display the following message:
"This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)"
I thought that I could undo all of this adventure of mine by using the system restore and revert back long before this all started. However, every time I tried to use system restore it wouldn't work, due to "error 0x80070005", recommending that I turn off my antivirus in order for the system restore to be able to access a certain file. I went as far as uninstalling anything reminescent of an antivirus from my computer and disabling windows defender. However, it is still not working, displaying the same error.

So, here is what I need help with:
Solving the error code 31 of my display adapte driver.
Solving the error 0x80070005 of the system restore

Any of these are appreciated. Thank you.

Alternatively if Lenovo does not have it for your laptop try this one

Hello, I have attached screenshots that I think are related to the problem.

When I watch YouTube videos, sometimes my screen goes black for a second or so, then comes back on with that popup about the display driver. The YouTube video I was watching is now just green and frozen. I have to refresh the page to get it to load properly (and it usually plays fine after that; the crash seems pretty random).

I am also unable to get my computer's rating, and the error seems to suggest that the issues may be related, so I included a screenshot of that as well.

I have been very impressed with this site so far (I had a BSOD issue for a while, but that seems to have been fixed!). Let me know what other info you need!

I originally posted this elsewhere but have yet to receive a reply, so I'm going to do a direct copy/paste, hence there being another post compressed into this one at the bottom.

I'm not sure whether this is down to a driver update, a Windows update or something else. It's been happening for about a week, and happens after a few hours on both 13.4 WHQL & 13.5 beta2 (yes -- I've tried uninstalling drivers and reinstalling, etc). Curiously, reinstalling the drivers does appear to delay the issue's reappearance.

My card is an XFX 7950.

Here's is what I'm talking about:

It happens irrespective of whether I'm overclocked, at stock clocks or underclocked. My temperature (idle) is about 50C.

If I disconnect the first monitor, the second monitor inherits the corruption immediately, and vice-versa.

This happens on both Chrome and a clean Firefox installation.

This only appears to happen when watching YouTube videos. Heavy gaming does not produce similar problems.

Closing the window with YouTube open usually solves the issue, however not always.

The only potentially relevant software I've installed in the last week is an Adobe Flash Player update, however I think this was after the problem first arose.

The only Windows update I've installed in the past week was a security update (KB2840149).

What on earth is at fault here? This is such a peculiar problem.

Was just doing some more testing with Nightly (Firefox) and it gave me a BSOD.

My current assumption is... Read more

I'd try loading a Linux LiveCD and use youtube there, Linux Mint 14 comes with Firefox 16.0.2.
LiveCD has the installer, but you actively boot into Linux Mint with it and can play with it, and install or not, and I know Flash is active there too.

Usually if you go the vid card manufactures web site you should be able to downlod the driver. If it dosen't come in an install file, then just run the add new hardware wizard and when it asked where to search for the approprate driver, just point to the location of where you downloaded the driver.

Crashed, reformatted, reinstalled Win98, finally got everything back to normal except the display. If I remember correctly, I had the same problem in the same circumstances 2 years ago, but that time it only took me a couple of days to fix it (of COURSE I didn't back it up!!!) and I've been at it for over a week with no luck this time. I'm on a P2 with a SiS6326 8m AGP graphics adapter and a Cybervision C50 monitor. I've progressed through about a million configurations, using the standard win drivers in combination with the (downloaded) cybervision and SiS drivers- in all of them I can only get 16 colors and 640 res, and when I boot up, I get an error message telling me that my display adapter is not configured properly, if I'd like to do it now- yada- yada... takes me to win HW wizard. With the SiS drivers and a standard Win98 monitor configuration, display adapter>properties>resources was saying that my display adapter was attempting to use resources reserved for the PnP system board extension, but wouldn't let me change them manually, and there was only one pre-configured setting. Now, at least, with standard SuperVGA display adapter and standard Super VGA 1024 monitor drivers, I can choose 256 or 16-bit color, and change the screen area (the options are on-screen and available), but I can't apply them, whether I use the reset on shut-down option or not. I still get the "display adapter...config" error msg.

I have an HP Pavillion DV9700 Notebook. Windows Vista 64 bit home prenium came pre-installed. My computer was working well for a year. Then a problem suddenly arose with the display adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS. The computer will NOT boot in normal mode unless I disable the display adapter in safe mode before... Then the normal mode graphics are limited because the display adapter is disabled... I haven't installed new hardware lately, or tried to change anything with the motherboard bios...

The incorporated program for startup problems can't fix the problem... The cpu also tells me I have a display adapter problem that it can't determine... I tried uninstalling the driver and doing a driver clean with the "driver sweeper" program... I then tried updating the drivers on the Nvidia and also HP websites but the CPU crashed and it didn't fix the problem....

I did a basic system restore earlier dates, which didn't work. I also did a FULL system restore to try and fix the problem. Even though it was a complete re-imaging restore to original factory condition that was built in (not from a cd-rom that HP didn't provide), it did not fix the problem, which kept re-occurring. This is very curious.

Further, Windows Service Pack 2 also failed to install due to error code 8007043C. A website said this might also be related to the graphic drivers but it wasn't sure.
I ran Windows Startup Repair but it couldn?t fix the problem. I got this information:

I did this, but when I rebooted it the adapter wasn't re-installed, instead I found that I had the Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. My computer is now very slow and the display is blocky and the icons and text very large.

Overclocking is not going to fix your issue. It may just cause more. There could be a lot of things going on. You could even have permanent damage from heat if you had previous problems with overheating. The drivers is where I would start but not necessarily with the video driver. I would find the motherboard manufacture and model number and see if you can't find chipset drivers first. I prefer getting drivers from the manufacture website, The only 3rd party driver software I've found to work is driver booster 2 Pro, but you have to be careful as it tries to install other software during the install and uninstall.

I did download the driver from Dell's website and installed it but it remains the same. i have tried decreasing the hardware acceleration bar as well but nothing happens. I have also tried decreasing the refresh rate, decreasing screen resolution, uninstalling the adapter driver and then rebooting in safe mode. But nothing has worked. Hey there.

First time poster...long time thread browser. Here's my issue - About a week ago I started having issues with my monitor (19" Samsung Synchmaster 913v). Basically what would happen is that any black colors/areas would change to a kind of fuzzy green color. It would happen for 5 minutes here and there and then revert back to the original color. This started happening more frequently and for longer periods of time. I thought that maybe I was getting electrical interference from a neighboring bathroom fan or something nearby but that didn't seem to be the case. At this point, I'm dealing with a constant green pulsing haze where a black color should be. This includes the black screens on startup (i.e. the Windows XP screen on bootup is now green). Other colors still display as they should except for the fact that you can sort of see the pixels dancing and some pulsing as well. I tried updating the ATI display adapters and messing with the monitor tuning settings but that didn't seem to solve the problem.

At the end of the day...I don't think it's my monitor but I'm looking for a second opinion or some advice. I'm using a Radeon 9200 display adapter. I haven't switched out my monitor and tried that as I trashed my old CRT. Any way that I can test that it is indeed the display adapter? Could it be something else?

Thanks in advance,

A:Display adapter or monitor problem?

Actually from what you are describing it sounds like it is most likely the monitor. The best way to test this is to connect the monitor to a different computer and also to connect a different monitor to your computer. If the monitor is the problem it should persist when connected to any computer, however is the adapter is the problem you should see the colors displayed wrong with any monitor connected to it.

Hi all,

I recently got Tecra S11-11H.

Couple days ago windows did update procedure. After reboot external monitor connected to dsub connector changed display resolution to 1600x1200 (from native one 1920x1080). In my frustration I tried system restore as windows update creates restore points. There was some document loss in process but I was NOT able to restore laptop to previous state!
Using nvidia control panel I can get 1920x1080 resolution at external monitor ONLY when toshiba internal lcd is switched off.

Now I have 10 seconds of delay between http requests. And that is unacceptable. What are my options here? Does update include firmware changes? In case I decide to reinstall Windows 7 all over again with recovery disc, will that fix something.

Please help me !

> Does update include firmware changes ?? In case i decide to reinstall win7 all over again with recovery disc, will that fix something

No. it doesn't include any firmware changes. Yes, reinstalling windows with recovery disk will fix your problems as restores factory settings. In Windows update option, turn off *,,Install updates automatically*, you can check for updates yourself and choose what to install.
Before to start a new installation, remove windows updates installed recently, and download a display and Lan driver from the [Toshiba driver page|] If it solves your issue, you don't need to preform a new installation. Otherwise, do it.

My video card is being listed twice under Display Adapters. It's an ATI Radeon HD 4850 X2. The properties of both listings are largely the same, but there are some differences. For example, one is listed on PCI bus 4, the other is on 3. In the Details tab, in a lot of the Ids one of the numbers listed on one of them is 03800 while it is listed as 03000 on the other. Under the Resources tab they're listed differently as well. They have different memory ranges as well as I/O ranges. One also has two more I/O ranges and one more memory range than the other. Other than that, they're identical.

I don't know if it's related or not, but I'm also not seeing the performance that this card should be giving out. I'm only getting 40 fps in games like Fallout 3, 30 in Team Fortress 2, and a completely dismal 20 fps in World of Warcraft. All of the settings in these games are on the highest possible, but I've tried putting them lower and I don't see a significant increase in fps, which is odd. I have completely updated drivers for my chipset as well as the card (I updated them today). My motherboard (a Dell 0YF432 according to CPU-Z) has an NVidia chipset, but I've been told that that doesn't matter as long as I'm not trying to Crossfire anything, which is why I have an X2 (they're built together; no Crossfire involved).

I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out why the performance of this card is so poor, but I ha... Read more

The error message says that the display adaptor cannot find any free I/O range; it is in conflict with another device. The resource settings of the display driver and the devices it is in conflict with (motherboard resources and system board extension for pnp bios) cannot be modified.

I don't know if the problem is occuring because I changed the monitor or I got an Ethernet card or my computer has a virus.

I tried changing the driver of the display. It works for a while, then it goes back to 16 colors and gets stuck there. I wonder if the BIOS has something to do with this.

I got the trial version of the latest Norton Antivirus software; it got rid of some viruses. But I had to delete files to do so. I wonder if the problem has something to do with those infected (now missing) files. Now, if that were the case, I'd have to reformat my hard drive.

Sorry for ranting. But I hope you can help me out with this. Thanks!

A friend of mine has a 5-year old Gateway 500S desktop with a Gateway 17" LCD monitor which she leaves on 24/7.

When she entered the room last night to use the computer, she discovered the monitor screen was completely black. The green lights to the desktop and monitor were both on, so neither component had lost power.

She rebooted the desktop and was able to hear the starting Microsoft sound, but the monitor screen remained completely black.

When she called me and advised me of the problem, I suspected that either the monitor had gone bad or the display adapter had gone bad.

I would like to bring the desktop home and connect it to my spare monitor. If it displays normally on my monitor, then I can assume the problem is with her monitor. If it doesn't display normally and it remains completely black, then I can assume the problem is with the display adapter - in which case I can install an ATI Radeon 7000 64 MB PCI video card that I have in my parts box.

What are your opinions about this problem, and is there anything else that I need to check?

Must upgrade card to any HD line or revert to using Windows 7. (The ATI Radeon X series will work too, but no sense getting one of these when HD are very cheap already by now.)

While the XP driver can be installed with special techniques, it will not produce sufficient acceleration on 8 at all. Basically, the default Windows 8 driver you're using now is the best you can get for 8.

(To fafhrd: Although this is not a laptop, this is the one exception (too old video) about hardware not working well on 8, heh heh. However, will work on 7 fine with XP driver - just no Aero.)

To OP: Check that your power supply can supply enough power and also has an available internal connection, if necessary for a new card you select. It can even be molex connector if you get converter with new card, that sometimes comes with it. Then look at stuff like this for example, if you have AGP bus: Used Sapphire Technology ATI Radeon HD 3850 11124-00-20R AGP Video Card 840777024485 | eBay )

Since you really have nothing to lose, you can try to install this using the device manager. It might not even install without editing the .inf file - but even if it does, like I said, it isn't going to do anything well for you at all:

Later I tried Windows 8 upgrade assistant which showed that my graphics card (ATI RADEON 9600 series secondary (Microsoft Corporation ? WDDM) is incompatible. The thing is I have only one graphic card. In the compatible devices list I can see ATI RADEON 9600 series (Microsoft Corporation ? WDDM).

Nevertheless I tried to upgrade from existing Windows 7 which also failed saying the display adapter (ATI RADEON 9600 series secondary) might not work properly.
I don't know what is wrong. As far as I know the computer software is up to date. I have also ran Driver reviver software and everything is up to date but I can't install windows 8.

I'm running Vista Home Basic on a Dell Dimension E521. Trying to install a Kensington USB Multi-Display Adaptor. I am using the latest 6.3 version of the Kensington/Display Link software. The monitors are both 17" Dell LCD monitors, one with VGA and the other DVI/VGA.

Installation is aborted mid-way, with a message saying that I need to enable vbscript.dll.

I go to CMD and do that. I get a message saying vbscript successfully enabled. I exit.

I again attempt to install the device. Same result.

I check in Device Manager, which tells me the driver for the device is properly installed and current.

When I reboot I get a message saying "Windows will now finish installing software from the manufacturer of this device." The driver is again reported as installed successfully, but the software supporting two screens is not. The VGA monitor lights up very briefly at start-up but then goes black and into Power Save mode.

I have installed the adapter on a notebook (XP Thinkpad) , so I know it works. I have used AOL Computer Checkup to remove any registry errors. I've tried different USB ports. I have tried using the other monitor connected to the adaptor. No luck.

I used Kensington support to troubleshoot. They used to attempt install, and failed. They tell me there's nothing inherently wrong with my setup, that the Nvidia GEForce 7800 card in my machine is full compatible, and that the problem must be in Vista. They and on-line reviews o... Read more

PC: TOSHIBA SATELLITE NOTEBOOK PC L25-S1216 contains an ATI EXPRESS 200M video display adapter.
OS: MS Windows XP/HE
Memory: 1GB

PROBLEM: When the images which appear on the notebook's screen panel are also displayed on an EPSON POWERLITE 77 digital projector in a multiple monitor setting, the projected image is distorted near the top in a curving pattern shifting to the left. The right edge of the projected image is no longer straight but curves of to the left. The same image shown on the notebook panel is perfectly straight.

The new digital projector was replaced by EPSON but the same problem persists.

Connecting the EPSON projector to a COMPAQ Presario 5300US desktop PC or to a DVD player results in straight right edge and 90 degree corners and perfect pictures.

Driver provider: ATI Technologies. Driver date: 6/28/2005 Version: - seems to be the most recent version available. Driver memory size: 128 MB. Display: 1024x768 pixels. Changing display pixel configuration does not affect the flawed display image.

Action Taken:
Installed current ATI Display and Chipset Driver for Windows XP. Version r2
Installed ACPI Flash BIOS version 2.20 for Satellite L25.

Any ideas? The Toshiba is less than 2 years old. The EPSON projector is new.

This is getting to be frustrating. I just bought a new Vaio laptop with the following specs:

Intel Core i3 370M 2.4 GHz processor
4GB of RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470
17" monitor
Blu-ray player

I can watch YouTube videos only if they're embedded on other pages or if I copy the url from the embed code. On YouTube, I get these strange artifacts, and while I can hear the video playing, I cannot actually watch it. This is frustrating, obviously, and I don't know what to do because nobody else's problem seems to match mine exactly (they receive error messages and the like).

EDIT: I have fixed the problem. Turned off hardware acceleration in the settings menu. Thank you all for your help.

Hi guys,
I have just re-formatted my windows7 for the second time in about a week. everything is working as intended with exception to online flash videos. Youtube videos are functioning, because they are using HTML5 i suspect.
An interesting note: upon reformat and installing of my mobo drivers, i installed Avast AV and then went to to check the functionality of my flash player. I was able to watch the latest episodes of Naruto Shippuden and then i got back to installing security addons for my Firefox browser. After doing this, my flash player is not opening videos on that same website i just mentioned, nor on (which i used without problems up until my re-format about a week ago).
I have not installed any WindowsUpdates, as right now i'm not sure that i won't re-format again to try this all over to eliminate this problem.
I am playing Star Trek Online right now, it is operating just fine, all other functions of my OS seem to be OK, just this flash video issue is all the problem that i can detect at the moment. I use my PC for browsing the web, investigating government intrusion into personal rights mainly, and also for recreation like video games and the aforementioned movie and anime viewing..
I suspect that my security addons to Firefox might be getting in the way of my flash video viewing.. I currently have 'play DRM content' disabled as snooping and tracking are my mortal enemies online..

I have been using a HP 14-b109sa with Windows 8 for a few months. The whole time the internet connection itself hasn't been particularly slow, but almost always YouTube videos don't load, and I can't download powerpoints or documents either. My housemates laptops work fine, although one of them struggles streaming Netflix. I tried plugging my laptop into the router and it still wouldn't load a YouTube video. Don't know much about computers or anything so any help would be very appreciated thanks

Hi all,

Im new here, and I hear this is the best place to get help with my current issue. Recently I installed beta drivers from amd (14.6) and whenever I watch videos on you tube or facebook I get a bluescreen shortly after. It goes so quick that I cant really read what the problem is, but when I go check in reliability report I see this.

Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7601.
Locale ID: 1033
Extra information about the problem
BCCode: 3b
BCP1: 00000000C0000005
BCP3: FFFFF8800B231950
BCP4: 0000000000000000
OS Version: 6_1_7601
Service Pack: 1_0
Product: 256_1

Now I have since changed to a different beta driver (14.7) and It wasn't happening yesterday but today Im getting blue screens again when watching videos. I am currently back on 14.4 (official release) and it hasn't happened yet although its only been a few hours. truthfully I don't even know if its the video card drivers that could be causing but its only thing I have modified on the system since the problem started.

Any help or advice you guys can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance!

Hi guys,
I've purchased a new laptop 3 days ago - Toshiba Satellite M840 and encounters BSOD inciddences while watching youtube. The blue screen indicates that the display driver crashed and failed to recover and that the computer will now restart.
Coupling with the BSOD issue is that sometimes while watching youtube, the video will freeze and the computer indicates:
Display Driver Has Stopped Working And Has Recovered

I've already exchanged the laptop with the retailer with a new one, yet the problems presist.

I've attached the Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 zip folder & the PERFMON HTML file

Here are my laptop specs :
Window 7 Home Premium 64 bit OEM version
Intel Core i5 2450M CPU @ 2.50GHz

Display Driver - AMD Radeon HD 7670M, driver date is 1/20/2012
Thank you in advance!

"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.

If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
* Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

I have always been able to view the YouTube vids that I downloaded. Starting this past week I have downloaded several videos that will NOT open in any of my players. All players are updated but the files still will not play. The file type says MP4 but I have my doubts as to if that is what it really is. I use the videos when not connected to the internet to teach firefighting strategies and tactics so nothing illegal or unethical here.
Why can't I play the .mp4 file I downloaded?
We are aware of a compatibility issue that is preventing some .mp4 files from playing in RealPlayer. Essentially, the files that are being downloaded are not actually MP4s but a new streaming format that is being misidentified as MP4.
We are working toward compatibility with this new format.
To check if a file is a true MP4 file or the new format, try playing the file in QuickTime.
If the file does not play in QuickTime: Try Solution 1 below.
If the file plays in QuickTime: It is a true MP4 video and should also work in RealPlayer. If it doesn't, try Solution 2 below.
Solution 1
The following steps should work for customers who are on Windows 7 or 8 and are using Internet Explorer (version 9 or higher) to download videos.
1. Click the Tools (gear) icon at the top right of the browser and select Manage Add-ons.
2. Under Adobe Systems, click on "Shockwave Flash Object" and click the Disable button that appears at the bottom right of the window.

This could be a security/settings problem. When I receive an email containing a link to a video or when I click on a news story that includes a video it runs just fine for about seven seconds and then stops; in the lower left corner of the screen it says "Transferring from (whatever)..." with a little progress wheel but no matter how long I wait the video never completes. Something in my computer must be interfering but I don't know what. I should mention that my ASUS laptop does the same thing...the only thing the desktop and laptop have in common is the router, which is a G.

I do computer support for our States Attorney's office.

Over the last few years more and more evidence has been digital. We have security camera videos provided by different stores, showing crimes.

There are many different video recording systems out there. Old, new etc. Sometimes the videos have their own players right on the provided disk, some times they don't, so and so forth.

My users do not have administrative rights for obvious reasons. However, most of the players included on the CD/DVDs require admin rights to load the viewer. A real pain since it is usually in court, or 5 minutes before court that they need a rush install.

But also, I have many files that will play in Media Player on one PC but not on another. Such as an .avi file.

I got a video from Boscov's the other day, and avi file. It played for me in Media Player Classic, and VLC. It would not play for the user in either. I updated VLC, still not good. I converetd the file to MOV file. It played for me in Media Player version 12. It would not play on version 10 or 11 but would play on 9. It would not play in VLC, Quick Time, or any other media player. It would play in version 9 for some people but not for others.

Okay, my question is this. Does anyone know of a way to resolve this issue of multiple file types, different media players. I'm constantly downloading CODECS and media players, sometimes they work sometimes they don't. Sometimes they work for some computers, ... Read more

Hi there,

For a while my computer would do this strange thing where the screen would go black or blue or white with grey lines. Sometimes I could still hear the music playing in the background from a youtube video or a video game.

In my attempt to narrow it down, I tried cleaning out/updating drivers, and discovering which program was causing it. It appears to stem from something on my web browser. Recently, I upped the voltage to my RAM sticks through my BIOS settings, nothing extreme, but up a few points. Seemed to have helped. Then I loaded up a youtube video, and the crash occurred. I played with it, and the crash re-occurs everytime I youtube a video.

My Administrative Events Log shows a repeating series of events. I've attached a screen shot of it.

I'm still not entirely convinced the problem is simply due to youtube, but I'm unsure of how to solve this. I did read a recommendation that Kernel-Power issues may be Power Supply related. I popped in a new and larger Power Supply earlier today and the issues still stand.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Check your install integrity against the perfect install demonstrated in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 paying special attention to how drivers are handled in Win7 since it's not at all like XP.

This is a problem I've been having for over a year, and still have not found a fix to. What happens is that when I play any Youtube video, the video plays for like a split second, then Youtube starts to automatically change the quality lower and lower, each time it changes the quality the video restarts, and when it's down the the lowest quality the whole Flash player crashes.
I have read about this issue on Adobe's community where many tips have been suggested such as reinstalling the flash player, turning hardware acceleration off, among other things. I don't believe I have ever seen anyone saying that performing these tips have helped stopping this problem, I have not been successful with it either.
I don't know if this problem is isolated to Windows 7 or not, because I do have a Windowd Vista computer where I don't have the problem, but on all other three computers (all Windows 7) i have the same problem.

My Dad has communication problems and currently needs his XP computer to take part in a clinical trial. I am over for a few days and he has asked me to sort a problem out.

His computer, an XP, has suddenly started crashing, maybe 1 time out of 10, when he turns it on, and quite often when he has just viewed a clip on Youtube.

The mini dump (is that the term?) is Bad Caller Pool and the data is as follows:

0X000000C2 (0X00000007, 0X00000CD4, 0X024C0000, 0X84A81008)

No new software has been installed, nor hardware... I presume I will need to update a driver? But I don't know what the above data is telling me. If someone on here could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

The issue is probably caused by some driver, but enable us to help you we need you to post minidumps from that system for analysis. You can find them in C:\windows\minidump.

Please zip available minidumps in to a single file, then attach it with your next post. Regards

Hello everyone,

For several weeks now, I've had this BSOD that seems to happen once or twice a week on Windows 7. I've recently installed Windows 8.1 and the BSOD is still there. The last time it happened was about 15 mins ago while viewing Youtube. I posted in the seven forums back when I was using Windows 7 a week or so ago and user Arc suggested that it may be due to the Atheros Killer Network Manager, which I've made sure to disable with this newer Windows 8.1 install.

Here is a link to the thread.

BSOD twice while gaming, once on desktop. Brand new build, some older - Windows 7 Help Forums

As per the BSOD posting instructions, I've included the output of the SF Debug tool.

Thanks for any assistance

Greetings, a100167:

Its come to mind that you do not have all of your drivers updated. If you will, proceed to go to your device manager, in there you will notice that there are two yellow warning signs showing you unknown devices I believe? You will notice that one of these devices in PCI Simple Communications Controller Device Driver, and the other is SM Bus Controller. Please right click on either and choose "Update Driver Software...". Alternatively, you can use your Motherboard DVD to install these drivers.

In short; it appears that you did not install your chipset drivers when you installed other drivers, is it safe to say that assumption is correct? Please let me know if this helps.

Greetings everyone ,

I have recently registered here to look for some help regarding my problem . As the title says I have a problem with viewing videos , whenever I try to play a video , it opens up my windows media player and all I can hear is the sound .

I have tried googling for some answers to my problem but all I got was that I have the wrong codec or whatever , I have downloaded every single codec that was suggested to me and none of them worked ( KLite , FFDshow , Xvid , Dvix) , still no image . Some suggested downloading VLC player or Media classic player , downloaded those , still nothing .

I ran out of suggestions on google so I decided to post here hoping I could get an answer and manage to fix my problem .

Me not knowing what to tell him just said to "right click the email (in the subject line of my email to him) and choose "open with" and then for him to choose either "media player or real player" ....but I don't reckon' that worked or else he never received that email from me.

I already had the Kazaa Lite Codec Pack, and uninstalled it so i could download and install the newest version (the mega one). After this i tried to play a .mpg video file using media player classic, and there was a problem. The audio was perfect, but the video was distorted and "moving slowly" for example freezing/stuttering at certain parts.

I tried to play another file this time an .avi and the same problem occured though there was some improvement. When this happened, i thought there must be a problem with media player classic so i used BS Player and the same problem occured again!

Could anyone help me out please

Thank You
