Can't find my microsoft word work - Please help

Q: Can't find my microsoft word work - Please help

I'm currently in the middle of doing uni coursework, I've been doing it at home and uni. On Monday I sent my work home (a microsoft word document) via hotmail. I've opened the work today, did some more, and pressed save, without thinking, then closed the document. Where the hell will it have saved to? I'm using vista if thats any help.

Please help, I'm currently in panic mode!

A: Can't find my microsoft word work - Please help

Click the Windows circle in the left hand corner and type in the name of the document to search for it. If you didn't name it type *.doc and all the documents on the computer will show up.

Since "upgrading" to Windows 10, I cannot find Microsoft Word.  Yesterday I was able to use "Search the Web and Windows", but search no longer works.   The Word icon under "Programs" is no longer there.   To even shut down the computer, I have to right-click on the windows icon and then click shut down, whereas previously (even for a few days after the upgrade) I would find it with a left click.    I should never have upgraded--this is infuriating!

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this problem, but I'll give it a try. I have a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop running Windows Vista. Very often, when I try to open a Word document (whether from Explorer or from within Word itself), Windows is unable to find it. Then I try a second time and the document opens with no problem.

I have not tried to isolate the specific conditions under which this happens. It doesn't happen every time, but often enough to be irritating.

Any idea what to do? Do I need to change a setting someplace?

Thanks for your help.

Hello, I'm not very good with computers so bare with me please :).

I am a university student and today when I went to open my class notes in Microsoft Works Word Processor I found nothing but a blank page. The file was still there, with the exact same name, but all the text was gone. The document contained 15 hours of lecture notes needed for an exam in 6 days, so I'm naturally pretty anxious for help. I have since turned my computer on and off. I have tried converting the file to rich text format and back, to no avail. The size of the document says a mere 16 kb now as well.

I opened the seemingly blank document with notepad, and found a bunch of jargon along with 2 interesting clues. One was very small pieces of my class notes here and there, in between the coding and jargon. The second was towards the end of the coding, where it said various random things about my HP printer. I did perform a printer test today, and was wondering if that did anything to delete or corrupt my notes.

I performed a system reset back to 5 PM (the file appeared blank at 6 PM, when it said it was last modified). The file is still blank. I have also checked through the recycle bin, nothing.

These notes are very important to me and my grade in this class. I have backed up material from 3 weeks ago, but with 3 hour classes i would still be missing a lot of material >_<. Any help is much appreciated, thank you very much.

My Microsoft Word suddenly stopped opening about two-three months ago, and I've tried everything I can think of. I tried repairing it, uninstalling and reinstalling. The program came with my computer, so I don't have a code number for it. Often whenever I tried reinstalling it, it would get to 20% of step 3 of 4 and then stop. It sometimes said my connection was interrupted, even though it wasn't. Any ideas please?

Hi: Try running the system restore utility and select a restore point to a time before the automatic HP update ran. If you are unfamiliar with how to use this program, please read the info at the link below. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/system-restore Then change you HP update program to notify you that there are updates and you choose when to install them rather than it being done automatically. That way you can run them and find out which one is blowing up your system and you can prevent that one from running the next time. Or you can just leave things as they are if they are working OK for you. Paul

On my old Thinkpad Windows XP notebook, which is almost three years old, the language bar is now starting to malfunction. I usually need to switch between English (US) and Chinese (PRC), and the language bar has been working for me in doing so until recently. Now, when I open Microsoft Word 2003 and try to switch to Chinese, Word freezes and I have to use the Task Manager to end the Word process.

I have been able to switch to Chinese (PRC) on my desktop with the language bar, but even when I do so, the language bar still says I'm on the English language (the only reason I know I'm on Chinese is because there's a check mark next to the language).

My dad had recently installed an update from Java, and in the process inadvertently installed OpenOffice as well. He had also installed Windows Live Messenger and in the process installed Rhapsody player as well. I did a System Restore to a point before he installed any of this, but that didn't help at all.

What could be the problem? I've cleared my registry. I've tried using the language bar in safe mode and it has the same problem. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the East Asian language files, but that hasn't helped at all.

Is there any program that I should use to diagnose this problem? And afterwards, how do I solve it?

I have several password protected documents from an old crapped out computer that are done in a very old version of WordPerfect and I cannot open them up in my current computer's "Microsoft Works Word Processor". The ones that are not password protected open up fine, but the ones that have password protection bring up the following Windows message: "Works cannot open (said document). The file may be in use by another application, the file may not be supported by any of the installed converters, or the file may be corrupt". I have tried all other "converters" that are a part of my Microsoft Works Word Processor. A:Does Vista Microsoft Word Support Old Format Microsoft Word?

I'm assuming you're talking about the new office 2007? meaning word 2007?

If that is the case, then yes it does run older versions of word. In the sense that if you have a word document that was made and saved in Word 2003 it would work in 2007.

Just like when you make something in word 2007 you are able to save it as a Word 03-07 document so it works on both versions of Microsoft Word.

I have created in Microsoft Word 2003 on an XP OS some lengthy documents. I created them using a view setting of 150%.

I sent them to my employer, who is using Windows 98 and Microsoft Word 97. My boss opened them with his system and they displayed on the screen at a view of 200%. He wants me to send him Word documents that he can open from the CD-R that I send that will automatically display at 100% view on the screen so that he does not have to set the view for each document as it displays.

So what is the answer.

Is there a way that I can save my created documents so that when my boss gets them on a CD-R that they will open on his system at a view setting of 100%.

Is there also a way that his system can be set to default to 100% in reading from the CD-R.

My boss does not want to copy the documents to the system hard disk from my sent CD-R, preferring to read and copy directly from the CD-R that I send, so that the original documents will not accidentally be changed.

Any help would be appreciated.

alright my problem is that i have already used microsoft word 2000 for awhile now and its been fine, no problems whatsoever then about week ago it started doing a lot of crazy stuff when i opened it. this happens every single time. i open it and it states that
it is preparing to install microsoft word 2000 (i already have it installed) then it states that it must gather the required information. At first i thought it was an update so i decided to let it continue. when it was finished it said that "the feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not availible. please insert the microsoft word 2000 disk and hit ok" alright the thing was it wasn't an update. and i couldn't find my word CD because it hasn't asked for one ever since i installed it. I then hit cancel and everything went away and about a minute later my microsoft word 2000 came up and it had no updates and was functioning fine but it was going about half the speed it usually does. Other than that there were no other problems and i continued with my work. The only thing that really bugs me is that this entire process takes about 5 minutes every time I start up... so its kinda of a pain... is there any way to get rid of this? thx to all... Peace Out

I have a document that is hundreds of pages long.

Within this document there are certain sentences, phrases that repeat and I need to find them in a practical manner.

Now I could go through manually, look for lines I suspect are repeated elsewhere and search for them, but that would take forever.

Is there any practical way to do this with Word 2010, Windows 7 Index or some other piece of software?

Hii..

I need to write a macro to display the word entered through the text box. I have a column with a word say "ABC" in the row number 3. First i need to search that column, and i have a word say "No" in the work sheet . So i need to display the text(entered through text box) in the column "ABC" whereever i have the row with text "No".

I have written using the cells and the numbers, but when i dynamically change it to another column, this does not work.

Sub Gen()
TextBox1 = InputBox("Please Enter the text")
If TextBox1 <> "" Then

For j = 4 To ActiveSheet.UsedRange.Rows.Count
If Cells(j, 10) = "No" Then
If IsEmpty(Cells(j, 36).Value) Then
Cells(j, 36).FormulaR1C1 = TextBox1
Cells(j, 36).Select
With Selection
.HorizontalAlignment = xlGeneral
.VerticalAlignment = xlBottom
.WrapText = True
.Orientation = 0
.AddIndent = False
.IndentLevel = 0
.ShrinkToFit = False
.ReadingOrder = xlContext
' .MergeCells = False
End With
End If
End If
Next j
Else
MsgBox ("The value cannot be NULL")
End If
End Sub

Hi

Here is a strange one. I have Microsoft Word 2000 on a computer running Windows XP SP3. I just began having a problem opening documents directly in Word. The documents will open but they are not right. For example, I have a document that is passworded out. Within Word, the document will open, but it does not ask for a password, and the contents of the document come up scrambled. Here is an excerpt of what it looks like:

+??+???7k'?p%V9
q|?F
t?Uzjikvn?nnU
b*79g?CAg?
t???c\0B?~I?_sD
l%*~tL
T,?*O?>.???l?C?
Ab/hA>[S?

This goes on for 20 pages.

However, if I go into Windows Explorer and open the document by double clicking on it there, it correctly asks for the password and opens fine. Weird, no?

I tried opening other documents from Word that do not have passwords. They open, but the documents include a bunch of formatting instructions that usually remain hidden. But from Windows Explorer they open fine. Here is an example:

Document opened with Windows Explorer

Blaine
Blair
Brody
Bryce
EVAN: English form of Welsh Iefan, meaning "God is gracious."
Lucas
Quentin
----------------------------------------------

Same document opened from within Word:

Blaine

Brody
Bryce

After recent full system recovery caused by one or more virus, I am unable to re-install Microsoft Word or Word Perfect on my Compaq Presario, which has Windows XP. Microsoft Word will sometimes start the process but then just stops, giving no indication of what steps to take next or what the problem is. Word Perfect seems to start the process each time but then gets hung up with updating what it describes as the SHFolder.dll. Have waited as long as 20 minutes for this update. The screen does show activity but it just never seems to get done. I cannot take the installation process past that point.

Any suggestions on how I can correct or cure this problem?

A:Unable to install either Microsoft Word or Word Perfect

Check here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q303437/ for some help - probably the .dll is either corrupt or the path not recognized. Depending on whether or not this page helps, either fix it with that or lookup SHFolder.dll. on the net and download a new copy from somewhere like http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?shfolder and install it.

I recently purchased an ASUS Windows 8.1 64 bit computer.  I transferred my Microsoft Works Version 8.0 word processor and spreadsheet files from my old computer onto the new computer.  I just purchased the Microsoft Office 2013 Home and Student Edition (64 bit version) from an online vendor and installed the software onto my new computer.

I have no problems opening my Works spreadsheet files in Excel.  However, when I attempt to open a Works word processor file in Word, I get gibberish.  I did some research online and found out that there is a Microsoft tool called Works 6-9 Converter which allows one to open Works files in Word.

I downloaded the Works 6-9 Converter tool from the Microsoft Support website and installed it on my PC.  However, when I subsequently attempted to open a Works word processor file in Word, a dialog box appeared with the error message "Word cannot start the converter Wks9Pxy.cnv" and the file did not open properly (i.e., I got gibberish).

I did a little more research online and found out that uninstalling the Works 6-9 Converter, then downloading and installing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package, and finally reinstalling the Works 6-9 Converter may correct this problem.  I followed these steps, but unfortunately when I attempt to open a Works word processor file in Word, I get the same error message and the file does not open properly. ... Hi,
Don't mind the curious ones, but I'm one of them. So anyway, almost one year ago now, the Word macro virus W97M/Marker.C was running rampant around Gordon College, with many teachers and students alike being infected. I was even infected with it thanks to one of my professors posting an assignment description document that had it. I was running AVG 9.0 at the time, and it was flagged many a time over. I think there were like six or so instances. My memory may be flaky, as my laptop has undergone many reformats since then, but what I do remember is trying to ignore AVG's warning, due to the fact that AVG has given me many false positives when I used it. The message Word gave me was that the document couldn't be opened because it wasn't available. But the strange part of that is that AVG had not removed anything from the file. I can think of two reasons why the file wouldn't run with the virus in it. Tell me which, if either, is correct. One is that Microsoft has since changed the macro format from 2003 and earlier versions of Word simply due to the many viruses that once existed for it, or two, that message was a very convoluted way of telling me that Windows 7 no longer supports Virtual device Drivers (*.vxd) as I was able to open the file after it had been cleaned up by Eset NOD32. Any knowledge you folks have would be very interesting, as I have always been curious about the very odd weekend of February 12, 2010. Now don't get me ... Read more

A:random curiosity about MS Word macro viruses and why (thank the Lord), they don't work in Word 2007/2010

I don't know the particulars of the macro virus you mention, but with Microsoft Office 2003, a significant change was implemented that effectively stopped the propagation of macro viruses.

Prior to Office 2003, macros were enabled by default, and opening a document with macros and auto-execute meant the macros were automatically executed (and thus the virus could infect and propagate).

With Office 2003, macro security was introduced. With a Microsoft Office 2003 default install, macros need to be signed with a certificate issued by a trusted root CA. Macros that are not signed will not be executed. Users have to explicitly lower the macro security level for unsigned macros to execute. Almost all macro viruses were unsigned.

At my work we have templates from Word 2003.

When we open them in Word 2007 they doesn´t work as they should.

We have for example a menu like

2 Electronics
2.1 Phones
2.1.1 Mobile phones

When you make an uppdate on the menu the sub-numbers disapear so it is
2 Electronics
Phones
Mobile phones

Also in 2003 you get a menu to the right where you can change in the list not only the types but also the numbering. Is there something like that in 2007?

A:Making Word 2003 templates work in word 2007

A couple of things.

Firstly here is an interactive guide for some of the features in 2003 - 2007. It is useful in some circumstances
http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/word/HA100744321033.aspx

In regards to using 2003 templates for 2007 - i noticed that not all things worked in the same way in 2007 especially when it came to printing (things would display differently to how they would print)

I work for a big company and i had to redesign alot of templates. Sorry.

In regards to changing the numbering, you now right click on one of the actual numbers within the document and you can change the numbering from there.

Hope that all makes sense.

Replace the Word with something like QQQ .. or the the original word .. And it will tell you how many.
Then you can replace it back to what it was ... or just don't save the edited file.
be sure to include the spaces before n after the search word.

Dear Forum,

I'm just starting to learn about Microsoft Word 10, which was bundled within an Office 10 package. I'm noticing that as I type a document, the Word Count dialog box at the bottom left remains frozen at 0. When I right-click on it, it opens, but the Word Count is checked within it. So, it's not turned off or anything. I need to limit what I'm writing to a certain number of words. I have to complete this thing within the next day or so. Unexpected need for a troubleshooting solution.

Why isn't my word count going up? And the Characters seem stuck at 67. Maybe I clicked something I shouldn't have. Otherwise, I need some guidance here. Thanks. Steve

Doing a fix for a friend, and this is a new one for me. Her primary concern was that all of a sudden, when she opens word, she can not type anything in a document. I tried it, and nothing happens. It opens like normal, and when you try to type, it is like the keyboard is locked out.

I found a few things on google that I tried to no avail. There was a .DLL patch I did, and I also removed so registry keys.

It is Win XP home, with 256 ram, and a P4 1.7 Proc. The version of word was installed with a software bundle that included Microsft Works.

I uninstalled Word, and reinstalled Office 2000 PRO, and the same thing is happening...

Any help would be awesome.

Hi guys, first off I haven't been here for help in years literally this was the first place I thought of because a few years ago many generous people helped me solve my problem, this place is awesome. Please pardon me as I am only decently literate with computers but try my best.

Ok I am trying to solve an annoying problem for my parent's computer. My dad was typing a normal document in Microsoft Word (OS is XP with System Pack 2, and it is Word 2002) and he said that just yesterday for the first time, after typing for maybe a half hour, a window would pop up with a "runtime error" and it would freeze untill he clicked ok on it, and it would then shut down loosing all his work that he didn't save.

So I got on the computer and opened Microsoft Word, and was able to duplicate the problem time after time but not every single time. When I simply open word, then click to close Word, the box appears, and he verified it is the same box he saw. It says exactly as follows, no more, no less, and every time reads the same -

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program:C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 10\WINWORD.EXE
abnormal program termination

So I tried to research it, and came across a fix on Microsoft's support site saying remove something called COM Add-ins. I did so by following each step removing the one COM add in i found, and it did not resolve the problem at all. It still errors out. SO I grabbed the master disk and un... Read more

I have decided to try to fix a problem on my computer with the Microsoft Fix It thing that Microsoft lets us use. Unfortunately, it not only did nothing for my problem (Which I no longer care about), but it did something to Microsoft Works Word Processor, the one that comes with windows. I already tried a system restore, but I've had it for too long so my restore didn't go back far enough.

The error itself says, "Works cannot access one or more files it needs to run the Word Processor. The files may have been renamed, deleted, or moved. Try reinstalling Works, and then starting the program again." Unfortunately I don't know if it has actually been moved or deleted and I don't know how to reinstall it. Any help would be great.

A:Microsoft Fix It messed up Microsoft Word.

If it came with Vista, it may be in Control Panel>Programmes and Features with the Windows Components list opened. You might be able to repair it that way. Failing that, if you had a Vista DVD or made a recovery set of your own, see if that can help.

Have checked my environment variables, User Variables are set to as under;

TMP - C: Documents and Settings/ABC/Local Settings/Temp

Also, the Value in the registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER >Software >Microsoft >Windows >CurrentVersion >Explorer >User Shell Folders >Cache is as %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files.

A:Microsoft Word 2000 aka MS Word 2000 - Sending Email - Need Help Configuring

Word itself does not send (or receive) e-mail messages. You may configure Word to be your e-mail editor, but it still requires an e-mail program (such as MS Outlook) to send messages.

You can send e-mails from within Word by using File, Send To, Mail Recipient (or Mail Recipient as Attachment), but this still uses Outlook to do the sending and receiving.

This macro below works like magic (beats do loop hands down) except that it don't include how to only select whole words and due to a few sandwiches short of a picnic I don't know how to make it so. It looks through a list super fast and picks out what is wanted say eg, 'Bank fund" from a cell with a long sentence in it like eg bank

CR COMMONWEALTH - From: NETBANK Ref: REFUND
CR COMMONWEALTH BANK fund N - From: NETBANK Ref: REFUND

because there is no whole word find built into the macro it gives wrong results in some cases where the word bank is part of another word.

Set R = .Find((" " & Company1 & "")) does not do the trick

the macro:-

With Sheets("zoo").Range("b39:b3000")
'Search for the first occurrence of the item

If Not R Is Nothing Then
'Store the address of the cell where the first match is found in a variable
FindAddress = R.Address
Do
R.Cells(1, 2) = company1
Set R = .FindNext(R)
'Search for all the other occurrences of the item i.e.

I manage 3 different buildings, with 3 different servers. Each server in each site is running SBS2K.

I've just come on board with this small company to help them on networking problems.

One thing I wanted to do, was to make sure each site has the latest updates from Microsoft. I have PC anywhere on each server as well as each sites Desktops to keep me from driving all over Gods creation on problems.

Now for the hard part. It is totally escaping me. I cannot run Windows update nor load up microsoft's website in a browswer on the two remote servers. I can load up any other site you ask, but cannot get microsoft.com to load. They all have NAV running on them, and can get the updates from Symantec as well. Just nothing from MS.

I've looked at several places on each machine to see if I can discover why, but haven't yet.

Anyone have any ideas on why, or where I should look?

Hi
,I have about 15000 elements (by "elements" I mean text ending with a paragraph break, that is ^p,)
in a word file.

There are other paragraph breaks that I want to get rid of but I need one to stay to identify each element for later processing.

My task is to find all instances of ^p followed by four digits. I will replace this with a dummy place holder, then elimnate all the ^p , to end up with replacing the place holder.

I hope that's clear. If you do this sort of thing you'll know what I mean. I do it all the time but I don't know how to tell it to look for "any four digits"

thanks, Frank

I have a word document containing paragraphs, where >90% of the paragraphs contain the word "Unique". What i would like to do is use the .find method to identify the word "Unique", then, if there is one available, use a method that moves the selection of the range, from the beginning of the word "Unique", to the end of each paragraph. At that point, i want to "delete" my range. then go to the next paragraph, or next instance of where the word "Unique" is used. In excel, i typically cycle through each cell value until i get a hit, but I would like to use a range object such as .find in Word vba to locate the word in the paragraph, then use a method to expand the range to include all the words, or characters to the end of the paragraph. My request to use the Range/Method approach instead of cycling through every paragraph is to save time on documents that contain over 168 to 300 pages.

It's generally there for when Word crashes, or your computer crashes, in conjunction with the Document Recovery aspect. Nothing can substitute a good Save. You could always write a macro to be placed in your Normal.dot ThisDocument module, that would basically save every-so-often for you. Hope I understood you right. Then again, I'm definitely not the foremost authority on Word.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. have backed up all my folders and word files in a huge random bunch of 50 folders and 3000 word files, and put them all under 1 main folder in ( obviously ) 1 drive

Suddenly, I realised that i wanted to access my most recent documents. In the search area on the right corner, I see date modified but i get folders with old word files as well. Its still confusuing. Is it possible to order my word files from yesterday to a month back by date and time, and see the results of just the word files in chronological order

if so, how do i do this ?

A:How do i find recent word files ?

Welcome to Seven Forums Kunwar Bedi. There are many additional ways to sort the files in a folder. You could experiment with those.

Right click an empty are in the folder> Sort by> More

You can choose from the extensive list such things as Date accessed, Date completed, Date created, Date last saved, etc.

Experiment and see if you can't find a choice, or combination that works for you.

I want to create a customised 'find and replace' function that
uses a userForm similar to the word find and replace dialog box
but with the following Extras:

option radio buttons 'Left', 'Right', 'Both'
so for example if the 'left' radio button was checked and the
text to be replaced is '#' then all the text left to the '#'
including the '#' on the same line would be replaced.

Hope this is clear.

Thanks in advance.

I recently began working for a company that wants me to upload digital photos. They had me dowload software which I did. Using there software I used their browse to locate the photos. I had a hard time finding them and using their software. I was clicking different drives to find them and finally was able to locate them and upload but now when I look in both my word and publisher files I can't locate my files. When I even go directly into word or publisher I will access history in publisher this is the error message I get Problem with shortcut. The drive network or connection that the shortcut "name of the file" is unavailble. Make sure the disk is properly inserted or the network is avilable. What have I done? Apparently I have moved my files by clicking on the drives when using their browse and I do not know how to correct this .

Any ideas to this problem

I am trying to open MS Word files in Windows 98. I do this by double clicking the file icon in My Computer, the open may fail (though not always) with an error msg saying that 'the file or one of it's components cannot be found'. If I go back to the My Computer screen and use the open command in the file menu it will probably (though not always) open the file. If the open attempt fails again I just keep alternating the open procedures and eventually it will open by one method or the other.
If I start MS Word and the file that I want is in the most recently opened files listed in the File menu, it will ALWAYS open regardless of whether it other open alternatives fail
Is this a registry problem?
Any suggestions how I can permanently fix it?

I have written a macro in MS Word that basically checks items off a list. It is based off of the seach and replace function, all it does is serach for a term and when it finds it changes it's color to blue and makes it strikethrough. I don't know if this is the most efficient way of doing it but this is the way I've come up with.

What I would like to add to it is the ability to have it tell me when the term is not found in the list, and possibly add it to the bottom of the list in a red color or something. Anyone know how I could do that?

Here is the macro code:
Sub CrossOff()

For x = 1 To 5 'Find and replace 5 times

SearchTerm = InputBox("Word to search")

Selection.Find.ClearFormatting
Selection.Find.Replacement.ClearFormatting

With Selection.Find
.Text = SearchTerm 'Word to search for
.Replacement.Text = SearchTerm 'Replace with same word, different formatting
End With

'Selection.Find.Replacement.ClearFormatting

With Selection.Find.Replacement
.Text = SearchTerm
.Font.Color = wdColorBlue 'change the text to blue
.Font.StrikeThrough = True 'cross it out
End With

Selection.Find.Execute Replace:=wdReplaceAll

Next x

End Sub

Hi everyone! And thank you for taking time to help me today. I have a problem with Word 2007 and it is simple. When I click on a word file, (it can be .docx or .doc or .rtf, any kind) I get this error message: ?Windows cannot find ?C:\Users\Joan Roseman\Gregs Documents\Cleaning 911. docx?. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.? After I click on the same file again then it finally appears and I can work on my Cleaning 911 doc. It?s about different cleaning supplies. Dull but hey it?s important to me! I?m aware you double-click to activate a program though I have to quadruple-click for all of my files.I admit I?m bad with computers and so besides clicking on a file I?m pretty sure I should mention my system:? Windows Vista Home Premium? Word 2007 was installed from the actual box. I bought it from Staples.Also I did take a picture of my computer and posted it up online. I don?t know if posting images is allowed here so I did put it up online:http://i37.tinypic.com/qpj9de.jpghttp://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=qpj9de&s=4 As far as solutions go I read online a few things:? a suggestion - reinstall windows - there could beseveral reasons for your problem and the simplest answer is to reinstall windows - a pain I know - but there could be errors with windows or just the registry - a registry fix can be helpful but also can be dangerous to those who don't know what they are doing adn is reccomended for advanced/experienced users.

another suggestion - take you computer to a suitable service providor to have a look though can cost some $$$.

Alright. I have just noticed this because i was (and need to be working on) a english project which, obviously, involves using a word processor. In my case Microsoft word.

But its being weird.

When typing it is slow, the letters not appearing on the page until i stop for a second. Then they appear, with volumes of mistakes.

Also when trying to use the tool bar menus (such as the spacing selector) the menu gives the pre-drop image (faint image JUST before it actually shows its self) and stops, no menu.

Any one know whats up with this? I would like to fix the problem without having to reinstall.

I dont remember having this problem in recent memory.

I just did a BUNCH of defragmenting. and the computer is faster in general, and word works!

Welcome maverick1,

Who did you purchase the software package from? If you bought it from a retail store, take it back! If you received it in conjunction with buying a new computer system, go back to them.

Hello,

I have a word document. Some words or phrases are hightlighted in grey. If I double click on these highlighted words a dialogue box appears giving me the option of selecting a different word or phrase. The highlighting does not appear on the document when you print it.

I would like to make other documents with this feature. Can anyone point me to a guide or tutorial that explains how to do this?

I am also interested in how to do templates where information can be inserted into a form without greatly affecting the overall format of the form.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Regards

Constantine

A:Microsoft Word

Did you copy/paste the document into Word? If so, that could happen because of you actually copying some tags or such.If you want the greyed out text to print, do this......Copy the document using Edit/Select All, Then paste it into NotePad. After it's there, select it all, then copy it back into WordPad/MS Word.Note: Doing this will remove ALL formatting of the document. (small price to pay)Doing Templates:If you have WordPerfect, it'll do it. I'm sure Word does it too,, but I don't recall, but you should be able to do it with MS Word. You will need to setup the fields to which you want your own data to be in, and leave the rest of the document as it is. I'm sure MS Word does it, and you'll be able to do it in just a few minutes or so.You bring back memories of that...... creating the document,, then inserting names, addresses or whatever, in the specified fields,... thousands of documents at a time. (well, actually 1 document) but thousands of names and such.

When uploading and attaching a Word document I receive an error message, however after clicking ok the error message goes away and the file attaches. Also, some file folders disappear when attempting to upload a Word document. I have noticed this problem does not occur right after restarting. After a few uploads the error message is back. I'm not sure what the problem is, if Word is corrupt, and/or if I should reinstall Microsoft Office. Any ideas would be great!

Hi,

I had to reinstall Windows XP Home on my computer as it was a mess, so I'm starting over. But when I did this, I no longer have Microsoft Word or any Microsoft Office on my computer. How can I get them back. I assumed that it would be reinstalled with Windows XP Home.

Any suggestions? You might be able to tell that I don't know much about computers by this question, it's probably a no brainer, but I haven't a clue.

thanks,
