# System Crashes While Playing Audio, Audio loops indefinitely

Q: System Crashes While Playing Audio, Audio loops indefinitely

I noticed that very occasionally, my computer will hang. Nothing will respond, not even Ctrl+Alt+Delete, and the only way out of it is to force a shut down by holding down the power button.

I also noticed that this has always occurred when audio is playing. The audio will loop infinitely once the computer hangs. Sometimes, when I hold down the power button for a while, the system will unhang. Other times it will not.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1
Sound card: Realtek ALC662
I should also mention that the machine is a laptop!

I can't update to the latest Realtek drivers because that causes the sound to start crackling and fizzing really badly (stupid bug). I also don't have any minidumps as the computer doesn't get a BSOD, it just hangs and I have to force shutdown.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem or what I can do to help you solve this problem?

What is manufacturer and exact model number of laptop?

Run Belarc - http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

What is BIOS date?

Don't post Belarc output - keycodes are in the listing.

While visiting a site I look at everyday (online classifieds ads), my system suddenly rebooted on it's own and when it restarted, 2-3 overlapping audio loops of some television shows or ads were playing. No programs were running and Task Manager shows no processess using large amounts memory but the performance monitor showed the CPU was maxed out. Norton full scan showed nothing of interest, it removed some tracking cookies. Malware scan found one file and removed it. Rebooted and the problem is still present. I have not yet been able to get the gmer to run successfully, keeps not letting me save the "ark.txt" file as you requested.

Hi, I recently bought Windows Vista and have had nothing but trouble with it so far. I installed the Orange Box and when I play Half Life 2 it skips the intro with the Valva logo and copyright stuff and goes straight to the loading screen. Then once the main menu comes up after a really long time and I play a level, there is no music just SFX and voices. Also, about every 20 seconds the game will freeze, the audio will loop and then 5 seconds later it will be back to normal. However sometimes the game will just crash. Portal, TF2, HL2 Episode One and Two all work fine. Please help! READ THIS FIRST!!! - Please no stupid comments about " ZOMG I H8 VISTA ITS SO BAAD NO ONE GETZ IT ITZ STOOPID".

This has been bothering me for a while. After a few minutes of playing any newer game, my monitor will go black and tell me there is no connection. The sound usually loops at that point and I can do nothing but hard reset.

I've been trying to find an answer online and thought my psu was the problem, so I bought a new one (now at 550 watts), but that hasn't helped. My computer is pretty old, (the processor is an AMD athlon 3500) with an updated graphics card, (BFG nVidia 9600 oc).

Any advice? Is it a temperature problem or just the result of an old processor? What other info can I provide that may aid in finding a solution?

Problem mostly just started this evening -- when I turn my computer on, I automatically hear multiple different audio advertisements playing at the same time, with no video anywhere and no web browser open or anything like that. The Task Manager doesn't show any open programs that should be causing this. The computer also now crashes very frequently, within minutes of startup. I had to run DDS in Safe Mode so it would scan without crashing, and it even took a few attempts to boot in Safe Mode (previous attempts just gave me a black screen and a shut down before Safe Mode would load).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey guys, I recently had my computer crash on me for the first time in a long time. After it rebooted, I noticed that random audio was playing in the background. It almost sounds like a bunch of pop-up ads are open at once, but there are none open on my computer. In my volume mixer, the sound source is listed as "Host Process for Windows Services."

I have been trying to fix this on my own, but I have been unsuccessful. So far I have tried scanning with Malwarebytes/Spybot Search and Destroy, used CCleaner, used TDSSKiller and Rkill, and did a Combofix scan. Even after using all of those tools, the sounds still play, and the computer crashes after a random amount of time. Sometimes the crash happens after only a few minutes, and sometimes it happens after a couple hours. I would also like to note that the Malwarebytes and Spybot scans came up clean.

I would appreciate any help/advice that you have for me.

Thanks.

Audio cd's stop playing after a minute + also having trouble ripping audio cd's to my computer.

I need some help and not sure what to do next? Seems this problem is common but I can't seem to get it down. I'm far from a expert so please help me...

My dad has a Compaq presario SR5550f w/ Vista 32bit w/ service pack 2 up to date.
When he try's to play audio cd's he get's this message.

Windows Media Player cannot read the CD. The disc might be dirty or damaged. Turn on Error correction, and then try again.

CD player plays only 1 minute and 3 seconds before error-ing out (although still plays DVDs). So, I thought Ok, let me rip his music and he can play off his comp. But when I try to rip audio it's goes about 20% and gives me a read error.

So, I turned on Error correction and nothing.

Seen in a few forums that I should update the drivers.

I uninstalled the burner driver from the device manager and nothing still.

I updated his Nvidia graphics driver just fine but it didn't find any thing for the motherboard?

I also updated his audio driver from the hp website.

So, after all that I thought maybe it's a hard ware issue? So, I changed out this burner for a new one and it still does the same thing?

have tested other cd-rs & retail audio disc. For some reason it's just audio's and ripping?

The other day he watched a whole dvd movie just fine!

I'm gussing it's a driver ... Read more

Hello,

Starting about a week ago whenever any audio is being played through my computer (speaker or headphone) I will hear a buzzing sound and occasionally the audio with skip. This happens weather I am playing audio that is being streamed from the internet or that is on my computer directly.

I have tried several things to fix this problem including installing all windows updates that are available as well as updating my audio drivers.

I am running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. My computer model is hp pavilion dv7t quad 6100 and I have IDT high definition audio codec driver version 6.10.6381.0 which my computer says is the latest driver version. Updating to this version has not solved the problem, however.

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. If there is additional info that is neccesary, please let me know and I will post it.

A:IDT High Def Audio, buzzing sound when playing any sort of audio.

Unplug the speakers from the PC and see if you still get the buzz with headphones. Some "buzz" problems can be related to "AC power ground loop" problems if some separately powered devices are connected.

Noise and skipping are problems that have been posted here before. There is no "one fix" for that. There are possible hardware problems, drivers (including video drivers), Interrupt issues, Wi Fi caused, etc.

Skipping can be because the other device that is on the shared Interrupt that the sound is on is interrupting the sound. Sound is always on a shared interrupt (IRQ) with a higher priority device. You can try this: go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the IDT and then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT check the box to uninstall the drivers. Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect the sound and reinstall it and some times put it on a different shared IRQ.

Hello everyone. I am using a old-ish Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista. So, every time I'm playing songs on YouTube, then open FL Studio 10, FLS 10 won't let me play or record any audio. When I look at the "ASIO4ALL" box it has A little red "X" on audio output(I use "Realtek HD Audio" if that helps). Now when I stop the internet audio/YouTube and restart FLS 10, the little red "X" is gone and all the sound works... I was wondering how to play Internet audio while playing or recording audio on FL Studio 10 is there something I can tweak with the laptop audio or some better sound program I can download free(or not free)and not have to get a new sound card??? Thank you for your time. Peace.

I'm having a problem with my Windows 2000 installation that's testing my patience; whenever I attempt to play certain games (the 1999 edition of Space Invaders by Activision, and certain fangames made with the Multimedia Fusion software or similar products) I can only play them for a short time before certain audio effects begin to loop endlessly (and, in the case of the MMF games, lag the entire game with it). So I just bought some new Klipsch 2.1 speakers two weeks ago, but this problem only started a few days ago. Certain sounds from certain programs cause my speakers to constantly "drone" the last sound played. This will continue on until I do ANYTHING else that produces a sound.

After extensive experimentation, I've discovered that any program that ends "abruptly" will trigger the audio loop. For example, when Itunes or Chrome are closed normally while playing, no drone. But when I end their processes in task manager, they DO cause the audio loop. Programs like VLC and Foobar will drone regardless of how I close them.

Whats even more interesting happens when I test the speakers in Speaker properties. When I play the jingle for the right speaker, it works fine. But the left jingle causes the drone. When testing either speaker in Realtek audio manager, they ALWAYS loop.

Hey all, I'm having a frustrating week. I installed a barand new Phenom II 940 a few nights ago, and this screwed up my DRM files for my TV card and Media Center, story short, I wound up formatting and reinstalling.

But now I have an even more frustrating problem. When I use Media Player, or Media Center to play aufio files, or streaming audio, the whole system progressivly locks up, sound stops, dwm becomes unresponsive, and finally a little later the mouse finally freezes. there's no blue screen, no reboot, no nothing but a complete deafening silence that something has horribly failed.

All my drivers are up to date, system specs are as follows:
Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3 (AMD NB770/SB600)
AMD Phenom II 940 (Stock settings ...unfortunatly)
4x2GB G.Skill PC8000
eVGA 8800GT
Creative SB X-Fi Xtreme Music
Avermedia m780 TV tuner
2xSeagate 7200.10 RAID0 SATA2 AHCI NCQ
1xSeagate 7200.9 JBOD AHCI NCQ
1xSeagate 7200.7 PATA

All being governed by Windows Vista Ultimate x64

As I said, prior to this reinstall, no problems, I reinstalled Vista last night, everything was back up to date, and that probelm started, this afternoon I reinstalled again! everything back up to date.....problem didn't go away.

There's no way I can blame the CPU for this, it seems to software oriented an error for that, I would thing the CPU would rather splash me a BSOD before just progressivly freezing everything.

Anyway, any help/thoughts are much Appreicated
-Chris

I keep getting random freezes in game, and my audio starts looping.

I have run the memory though days of testing with Memtest 86+ and MemScope with not a single error.

I have monitored the temperature and voltages on both the motherboard and video cards.

I have watched the windows resources to see if they run out.

I have monitored the CPU usage to see if there are any patterns.

I have removed part of the memory and swapped out the banks to see if that would make a difference.

I have played with a few of the overclocking settings (to underclock a bit) (I am running with no overclocking enabled now).

I've tried disabling all non-essential services and letting the computer run idle until it locks up.

I have disconnected all devices except for monitor, keyboard, SATA hard drives, and one ATA DVD drive (no RAID, no ATA drives, no USB except for keyboard).

I tried disabling AERO.

I have, of course, validated that I am running the newest video, audio, motherboard, etc. drivers.

My computer has been on service 3 times, and they changed;

Graphic card
Motherboard
Power Supply

...and still the problem occurs.

Welcome

Has to be just guesses at this point. You have tested all the usual causes.

How did you get your OS? Preinstall, upgrade or clean install?

Next time you have a problem, try to check the event viewer. Type those words in search.

I'm having some problems with my computer (less than two weeks old) that I can't seem to resolve.

Whenever I play games I get a complete system freeze seemingly at random, with no contact with mouse or keyboard. The system doesn't automatically reboot, though. The game graphics just freeze and I get static hissing/high pitched beeping sounds. This usually happens a couple of minutes after I start playing, but at times I've been able to play for longer periods of time without any incident. These lockups seem to be more frequent the last days though, and I've even gotten two outside the game enviroment.
At first I suspected it was the temperature of the cpu or video card, so I purchased two additional fans, so I've got the cpu temp down at around 43 when idle and around 50 when playing games. After that I tried downloading and updating all the drivers for my video card, though the result was the same. It feels like I've tried anything. The directx diagnostic tool doesn't find anything wrong with my computer and I'm fairly certain it's not an irq conflict.
If anyone might be able to help me with this problem I'd be most grateful.

When I am using Microsoft Office or most programs, everything runs fine. But when I try to run a Video or Audio file, the entire system freezes within about 3 to 10 minutes. I've tried the following:
New video card = nothing
Different Audio & Video players = nothing
Scan for virus or malware = nothing
Check for overheating = system is running cool
Paging is OK
Too many processes? = I don't think so. I've been monitoring them while running both audio and video.

I'm at my wit's end. I've been dealing with this since May. Not sure what else I can do to fix problem.

Something strange happened to me today (well the day I posted this thread). I was watching this: "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qj6Kg94vPEw" My laptop monitor broke one day so I had to connect a external monitor. The laptop monitor is plain black and doesnt work 100 (and 1)% of the time. Anyways what happened is that I watched that video then at some point the audio started looping causing buzzing and my external monitor shut down/went pure black without saying "Monitor going to sleep" or anything like that. The computer was on when that was happening. So I shut it down to stop the buzzing and the blank screen. Then I switched it on. Logged on, created a account on this website and so here is this thread. Is this normal? Should I be worried? Does this mean anything?

A:Computer monitor shuts down. And audio loops, causing buzzing noise.

Update your Audio driver in Safe Mode with Networking, from the PC's Support Downloads webpage for your tag number.

If no newer driver then in Device Manager uninstall and restart the PC so it reinstalls the driver.

If this isn't sufficient work through the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 starting with establishing a Clean Boot, checking for Malware, checking System Files, and the other steps.

I'm slowly giving up with this issue. It's been a few weeks now, of very random freezes. It's been in and out of computer stores, saying they've solved the issue, and I bring it home and it starts freezing again. Running Win 8.1 pro/ I don't get any blue screens, and I get no crash dumps. And I always have to hard shutdown. driver verifier isn't picking anything up either. Temps are normal. I've reinstalled windows 3 times now. And always with the same results.

A:Solved: Computer freezes, audio loops, no bsod, no crash dumps.

[SOLVED] It was a couple things. First was a bad BIOS from Asus. It wouldn't let me install drivers onto my network card. I installed the one from intel and managed to install all the drivers. Once I ran all the test again Memtest found a bad stick. Replaced stick and new BIOS letting me update the network card drivers fixed everything.

Please help. I posted previously and probably to the wrong forum. I have had a persistent problem with a trojan called Trojan.DL.Small.DTLZ and a worm called Worm.Leave.BD. Everytime I run Stopzilla these show up and I remove them. I'm not sure what all these are doing to my system but here are some symptoms. I have no system audio or audio icon in the system tray, nor can I hear internet videos, although volume works fine for mp3's played in mediaplayer and the internet videos are viewed with no problem. I did some online research on the audio problem and thought I had found a problem with Windows Service Pack 3. I reinstalled it and got my audio back for a time, but then the icon disappeared again and I lost audio. I'm assuming these viruses/worms are causing the problem but I can't seem to rid my system of them. I have had success with combofix in the past but now I'm getting an error that I don't have a compatible operating system. My system also is giving me problems connecting to the internet at times, althought there are no connectivity issues found. Various and sundry other little glitches have occurred, too numerous to mention, and usually go away. I have removed any applications which were recently added as I felt these might be causing a conflict or, indeed, had installed the virus in question. Nothing I'm doing seems to be correcting my problems and I am desperate for help. I tried running the dds script before posting but my system doe... Read more

Whenever I play any audio, I get a sharp spike in CPU usage - one core jumps to > 75% and the other remains around 20%, and the image that's causing the spike in usage is "System". I checked for viruses and malware using SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes, a few things found but none that were indicative of anything (a few PUP.Optional files lying around and some things that were false positives).

Thinking it was a driver, I rolled back the driver and tried, same thing. I reinstalled the driver, same thing. I updated the driver, same thing. Why's this happening?

Hi

I've been stuggling with this for a few hours now and am at the end of my wits..

I've got two audio devices that I would like to link to my PC at once.
I've got one plug connected to the back panel, and one to the front. But one always cuts off the other. In my sound devices, the system registers them both as: "speakers, VIA High Definition Audio, Standard device"

Is there any way that I can connect them both at once, and still have both of them outputting audio?

I hope the internet will save the day!

Many thanks in advance!

The computer already had a lot of assorted malware that has been (mostly) dealt with with Malwarebytes and Spybot S&D scans, though this problem presists (also, a "MyPC Backup" PUP that's yet to go away as the files that need to be deleted are always in use apparently). My main concern though is the audio issue. It plays sounds from what I assume are ads, before I even have the chance to launch Firefox (I thought it could've just been an ad or hidden pop up window at first). The only thing I've been able to connect it to is the "Name Not Available" option in the audio mixer, which muting causes it to stop, though I'd rather eliminate the problem completely than just muting it and pretending that it's not there. I still have one pesky problem. I can not get audio from when playing DVDs. I can place an audio CD in the drive and I hear that just fine. I am using the canned dvdplayer.exe from windows 2000. I have installed every service pack and patch available from Microsoft based on there windows update tool. I also get no audio when I use the MaXimus DVD player version 1.2 I know that it must be a codec problem. That is all I know though. I have attached a copy of the information tool from Nero 6.0. It is information overload for me. Can anyone guide me in correcting this problem? This is the last step before I hand the computer over to its proud new owner. :giddy: A:No Audio while playing DVDs I see on that report you have a Roxio driver on your machin CDralW2k, Cdr4_2k These files cause a conflict with Nero .You will need to go to Nero's site and read a bit on this issue and clean it up. They have utilities for this . I would use the Nero Showtime as a player and uninstall your DVD player. Turn off Autorun and point media files to start Nero There is a update for nero to 6.6 You may want to do this after you clear the conflicts. 1 more replies Answer Match 62.16% Having the problem with audio playing when no audio player is running and no IE or other browsers are open. I believe my problem started when I watched a video via streaming (for free) from this website called watch32.is. As expected, there are heaps of ads being free. Every time you clicked on the play button, it would open up a new page for the ads. After a few days, I noticed that while watching a show, an audio of a ads would play in the background. I looked it up online and it appeared to be a malware/adware. I called my anti-virus/spyware product support and after running several scans no threats were reported. It is very annoying because even if I'm not browsing anything, the ad audio plays in the background. Can anyone please tell me how to get rid of this? Thanks a lot. I am sure someone will come along to recommend you use Junkware Removal Tool and/or AdwCleaner of which there are downloads available within this Site. Use them if indeed this is the case - as well as read up about the potential problems that PUP's (Potentially Unwanted Programs) can cause. Also, if you are ever tempted to download and use a free pc 'boosting' or other supposed performance-enhancing program in future - DONT! Registry cleaners are a no-no as well! After a while, while playing my game, my computer randomly restarts itself. When it finally booted, I immediately got back on Skype and started my game. After some time, however, it started playing random audio such as advertisements, music, etc. I thought it was Skype so I closed it. The audio continued to play. I knew it couldn't have been my game because League of Legends does not play radio and advertisements. However, I closed my game after a while in an attempt to figure out what is playing the audio. I opened up my Volume Control and noticed that there was something called "Name Not Available". I muted this and the audio stopped. This should not be there, however, and I'm trying to figure out what is making this audio play and how I can get rid of it. For about 6 months now, I have had an issue with my Toshiba laptop with x86 Vista Ultimate installed. It plays no audio. When I 'test audio' it says "Failed to play test tone." I have repeatedly googled answers to this problem and most involve reinstalling drivers, restarting the audio service, turning off all sound effects, attempting to use headphones and even deleting some registry keys. None of these have solved the issue. I know my sound card is fine as the audio works fine when I dual boot into Ubuntu. The sound doesn't work either when I use my external USB sound card. So, before I take a dive and spend shedloads of money on professionals, does anybody have any suggestions? Ive searched the internet for solutions, and it seems that those who got the problem resolved posted in a forum like such. I have an idea as to what the problem is, but no idea how to solve it. If someone can walk me through this slowly, it would be much appreciated! A:Audio Ads playing in background Please run the following: Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit and save it to your desktop. Be sure to print out and follow the instructions provided on that same page for performing a scan. Caution: This is a beta version so also read the disclaimer and back up all your data before using. When the scan completes, click on the Cleanup button to remove any threats found and reboot the computer if prompted to do so. Perform another scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit to verify that no threats remain. If they do, then click Cleanup once more and repeat the process. If there are problems with Internet access, Windows Update, Windows Firewall or other system issues, run the fixdamage tool located in the folder Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit was run from and reboot your computer. Two files (mbar-log-YYYY-MM-DD, system-log.txt) will be created and saved within that same folder. Copy and paste the contents of these two log files in your next reply. Part of my job is to burn audio cd's for use around work, I use WMP 12 for the burn. They are played on various players, old cd players, boom boxes etc as well as pc's. Recently, a couple of the older cd players have a problem with the audio. They recognize the tracks on the cd and start to play but no audio comes out, but a commercial cd plays fine. One of the older cd players DOES play it OK. I used a different batch and brand of CD with the same results. I then replaced the burner and it still does the same thing. Any ideas? Thanks, Mike A:Audio CD's no longer playing The burn speed is the problem with older Audio CD players. They will either not play the CD or skip. I have a recording studio and also have audio CD production for creating and duplicating audio CD's. My Audio CD Burn Speed "Standard" is 8X. Above 8X its iffy. 8X is compatible with almost all Audio CD players. However, most SATA interface CD burners (what is used on most PC's in the last 6 or 7 years) will only go down to 16X speed. I have a bank of 5 USB connected PATA (IDE) interface CD/DVD burners and they will burn at 8X. New burner drives that will burn at 8X are mostly non existent. I have one reserve space burner drive but if more than 1 dies I won't be able to replace it. But, try the audio burn at 16X and see if the users can play that. I don't know if WMP allows selecting burn speed. For a free CD burner, download the free "CDBurnerXP" and it will allow selecting burn speed. Caution, look for any crapware when downloading or installing and make sure you uncheck anything you don't want (you only want the CDburnerXP program not the other junk). I use Nero BurningROM application for my audio CD burning. It allows selecting burn speed and burning to multiple drives at the same time. NERO is not free. 6 more replies Answer Match 62.16% Hi, I have an HP Pavillion DV6 3216 US entertainment notebook which does not currently have functioning audio. I have no audio coming through the built in speakers (I've tried fiddling with the playback device options/properties/testing the device to no avail) but do have audio when I plug a pair of headphones into the audio jack. I've tried updating my audio drivers and installing the latest through HP's website, but that didn't help. When I go to the system manager and view the properties --> details of Headphones and Speakers (IDT High Definition Audio) it says that no driver files are required or have been loaded for this device. However, when I open up the IDT sound panel click on the independent headphones setup and press test I get audio to play through the speakers for a few seconds until the test ends. I'd appreciate any suggestions to fix this, thank you in advance! A:Audio only playing through headphones A little more obsessive searching about on the internet led me to an HP forum post by lgrangea while I was initially skeptical about fixing my laptop with a toothpick (or in my case a floss n toss) where the magic of software had failed me but this wisdom worked! I claim no credit for just spreading the good word to the many people of the world! "I FOUND THE SOLUTION FOR THIS! After being awake yesterday to 4h00 AM trying to reinstall drivers etc, I found this problem to be a hardware issue (SOLVABLE). I noticed a lot of laptops using IDT sound chips have this issue (I have a HP 8540p). Basically something in the headphone jack is bent/twisted, making the PC think there's a jack connected. Just open the IDT control panel and get a toothpick. Gently poke inside the headphone jack picking the metal contacts. I did this for maybe 30 seconds until I noticed the IDT audio manager changed the headphones state to unconnected, and now I have speakers working! Hope this helps, feel free to copy/paste this around forums, has a lot of people with Dells are complaining also." 3 more replies Answer Match 62.16% Hi, There are random audio advertisements playing in the background on my computer. Hi,

Please do the following:

Download ComboFix from either of these locations:
Link 1
Link 2

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

* IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Hello nopcs I would like to welcome you to the Malware Removal section of the forum.Around here they call me Gringo and I will be glad to help you with your malware problems.Very Important --> Please read this post completely, I have spent my time to put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier, faster and smoother for both of us!Please do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. I can't quite see how any of the DirectX objects I can include will do the business.

I am trying to concatenate three or four sounds from a list of 100's.

I have considered "Shell" but there may be unacceptable and variable delays.

Any ideas anyone?

TIA

Problem-
My laptop (Averatec 3250 Series) refuses to play dvd audio. I thought it was a device problem, but it will play CD audio (and all other sounds). I've tried multiple dvds (in multiple players), and updating the drivers. I've looked through all of the obvious sound options (system volumes, etc.) and I still can't seem to find the problem.

My sound card is a VIA AC97 Enchanced Audio Controller.

A:Laptop won't playing DVD audio.

Are you talking about "Audio" DVD's or are you talking about audio from a DVD movie?

Tried a few things from other sites, nothing worked, now I'm hoping someone will be awesome enough to help me out.

I just get random commercials and snippets of audio playing and it will take over my soundcard so no other device can use it.

I killed every process I could in task manager and it was still going.

I don't know what other detail to give except I'm on Windows 7.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,

Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your desktop.
There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.
rKill.exe: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/10/iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/
Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
If using Vista or Windows 7 right-click on it and choose Run As Administrator.
A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
Do not reboot until instructed.
If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.
After the tool has finished running, a text file named Rkill.txt should be located on the desktop. Please copy and paste the contents into your next reply.

I saw this problem was solved many times on the forums, but didn't want to follow the steps in case they were meant only for the other people's unique situations. So I decided to make an account and ask for help.
These ads usually play around 3-4 am, but happen throughout the day and in the volume mixer, its shown its done through chrome. Also recently, chrome has been eating up a lot of CPU usage even when it's not doing anything, so I think thats related.
Used malwarebytes, Kaspersky, doesn't detect anything.
Thanks in advance.

I have 3 songs that were done at 32 bitrate, and none play in any of my media players. I've searched high and low for a codec to make them work without success. Does anyone know where I can find the codec to get these songs to play? Thanks.
Any and all help greatly appreciated.

Recently, I've been hearing audio ads on my computer. I checked the application tab under task manager and saw one instance of I.E. 11 running which was showing an ad website which would change to another such site and so on and so on. What is disturbing is that I did not have I.E. open. I rarely use it. When I right click on the task and select "go to process" nothing happens. I am running windows 7 and normally I would think this is a virus. I ran AVG and S&D spybot and turned up negative results. however with MS Intrusively pushing win 10 ads via KB3035583. I'm beginning to think MS is responsible for this also. I had to completely uninstall IE 11 and that put a stop to it. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have an insight into this? If it's MS, then problem solved, If a virus- I need help with this.

Thanks

Last night some random audio ads started playing on my PC - not from any webpage, but from the PC itself. I ran TDSSKiller but it didn't find anything, I also ran Malwarebytes Anti-malware, which found 11 objects including two Trojans. I quarantined them and deleted them.

I want to make absolutely sure, however, that my PC is free of malware now. I'd be very grateful to anyone who helped me out. I ran a DDS log and the results are as follows:
