[SOLVED] ViewSonic Monitor Auto Image Adjust Disabled

Q: [SOLVED] ViewSonic Monitor Auto Image Adjust Disabled

Me and my friend just finished our computer, we had a few issues with the NZXT Phantom case at first: they didn't send us a few screws so we had to go to the local tech store and buy a few, but everything worked out.

Anyway

Our screen seems to be having a slight problem: the image of the screen is not taking up the entire space provided by the screen.
There is an option that we found: Auto Image Adjust, and I am sure this is the right one, except: it's disabled!

It's a ViewSonic VX2450wm-LED Full HD 1080p
We have Windows 7 installed on it, and everything is working fine.
The Screen Resolution is set to 1920 x 1080.
DPI Setting is at 150%

Thank's for the help!

How much of the screen is being used?'

What is your GPU?

How is it connected?

Did you install the drivers for the monitor and GPU?

On my monitor screen there is a message flashing, Auto Image Adjust and I worked on it for 5hrs. just to find where to go and fix it. I don't know what this message means or why this happened? But this is what I tried.

I pushed the buttons on the Monitor:

Pushed 1 for main menu,
Went into setup menu
Went into Resolution Notice
Pushed Enable
Exit

I'm still getting this flashing message, that turns my screen light green.
Now, I tried looking for other ways to turn off this message, but I could not find it.
I even went into the Setting, Control Panel, to find a way to do it from my hard drive.
Please help me find the off button.

I purchased a Dell XPS400 at the end of last year with a 20 in flat screen monitor. For some reason, whenever the computer doesn't shut down properly, the monitor is constantly auto adjusting. Once in a while it will get stuck with everything moved to the left and some icons and the START button are missing.
I figured out out to fix it but I want to know why it happens. Anyone???
Thanks!!!

I have recently changed my hard drive and had to reinstall all the programs on my computer. Since doing so, the Viewsonic monitor has been stuck in troubleshooting mode. All the fonts and windows are very large, and the only resolution available is 680 x 460, with the only colour option at 16 colours.

What do I do to get a better resolution with this monitor. It worked fine until the hard drive was changed.

I have downloaded the driver for the monitor from the net which was unsuccessful.

I tried changing the adapter from standard to SVGA as recommended by windows, which was rejected by the computer and I had to change it back.

Windows is not accepting the driver that I downloaded.

I have a ViewSonic 2235 22" LCD. I need to find a driver to allow 1600x1050 resolution. I've been to ViewSonic's site and downloaded their signed and unsigned Vista drivers with no improvement - the closes resolution I have the option of is 1600x1024 or 1600x1200.

I had this monitor working fine with a 1600x1050 resolution. I changed out my motherboard (from an Asus p5w to p5e) and reinstalled Vista - and now I'm unable to get the monitor to the right resolution.

Hi,

We just bought a new HP 25-inch wifde LCD Monitor (HP 2511 Series Wide LCD). We are running it on Vista Home Edition on a Desktop Dell machine.

Although overall the resolution looks pretty good and clear, things are somewhat slightly distorted (stretched out) like images etc.

Is there anything I can do to correct this? currently the resolution is set to 32bit/1400x1050 refresh rate is 60. I Loaded the correct driver that came with it for Vista.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Greetings all,

My ViewSonic VX2450wm-LED monitor is recognized as Generic Non-PnP Monitor. I even downloaded and attempted to install Viewsonic's "Standard_Monitor_Driver_Signed_Win7_x64". It times out at the end of installation and requests I download "Standard_Monitor_Driver_Signed" from Viewsonic website.

My display view is set at max res of 1600x1200. I am running Win7-Ultimate 64bit.

Is there any other way to get Win 7-Ultimate 64bit to recognize the monitor as VX? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using an NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS 256MB card.

Thank you

A:ViewSonic VX2450wm-LED monitor is a Generic Non-PnP Monitor

If you need to know, here is how I fixed it.
First install ViewSonic's "Standard_Monitor_Driver_Signed_Win7_x64"
Go to Device Manager
Select Monitor drop down tab
Select Generic PnP Monitor
Right-Click on Generic PnP Monitor
Select option "Update Driver Software"
Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Select from the models listed: Generic PnP Monitor
Select option "Have Disk..."
Select "Browse..."
Navigate to where the ViewSonic monitor drivers are stored
Example: C:\ViewSonic
Select monitor driver
Example: VX2450_SERIES
Click "Open"
Click "OK"
Select from the pop up window:
ViewSonic on the left and ViewSonic VX2450 Series on the right
Click "Finish"

Finally, you will receive the message: Windows has successfully updated your driver software.
Notice resolution is now 1680x1050

After successful install of Nvidia drivers for my laptop's "nvidia geforce 9300m gs" current version:

186.19 to new version: 260.99, the max res cannot be set to the following available resolutions:
1920x1200, 1920x1440 or 2048x1536

Enjoy!

I run XP on a new box and a fairly new 19" (year old) View Sonic LCD monitor. The monitor worked as advertised on my old PC but when attached to my new one I frequently get a flashing green power indicator light and will get no picture.

This happens 100% of the time if I cold start the PC and I have to screw around with the restart button and on/off power button to get it to come back to life and in truth I do not know which combination of button pushing gets it to come back. I now use the power saver mode because that seems to be the most consistent way of bringing the monitor back to life but even that didn't work this am.

ViewSonic's web site wasn't much help.

I'm trying to decide between the G90FB 19" or the P95F+B...
Here are the links:
G90FB
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-116-282&depa=1
P95F+B
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-116-232&depa=1

The only real difference between the 2 is the fact the Professional one (P95F+B) has an aperture grille while the Gaming (G90FB) has a shadow mask

I know the shadow mask uses dots (dot pitch) while the aperture grille uses lines instead of dots...

Which monitor will give me the best picture for gaming and crisp clear text.

A:Which is the better Viewsonic monitor?

If you can afford it I'd get the Professional version. I had Philips 107P (Professional) monitor with a .25 Aperture grille and it was the best monitor as far as picture quality/clairity I've ever seen (I'm sure there are better, but not without paying major money).

Question: How can I reactivate my monitor without reformatting the hard drive?
This is what happened:
Two monitors were hooked to my computer, (Dell Inspiration), and I had to reduce it into one monitor.

I opened: screen resolution
Clicked on: Advanced settings
Clicked on: Monitor
Clicked on: Driver
Clicked on: Disable

After I did that, one monitor became completely dark, and the second monitor display was if it would run in safe mode, (graphic quality was so bad, it hurt to my eyes to watch it). I checked the device list and both monitor was removed from the list, there were no monitor listed anymore (before they were there).
I tried the system restore, but after the system restore finished, there were no more connection with the monitor.
When I start the computer, the monitor works for few seconds, shows the start up process, and right after the windows logo displayed, it shuts off. I tried to reboot in "safe mode", and it starts up as usual, (the monitor works), but before it reaches the desktop screen, it shuts off.
Windows version is: Windows 7
Computer: DELL Inspiration 546s
Operating System: 64-bit
Processor: AMD

Thank you in advance for your help

A:[SOLVED] windows 7 - monitor driver disabled - monitor does not work

Boot into Safe Mode with Networking, go to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc, Right click the devmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager, are there any devices with a Red or Yellow flags next to them? If It is Red (Disabled) then right click it and Enable it.
If it is a Yellow Exclamation mark, then you need to download the video driver for your model. First try Right clicking the yellow mark and then Uninstall. Then Right click any device and choose Scan For Hardware Changes, this should reinstall the previous Video Driver, then restart the computer in normal mode.
If that doesn't work, Go to the Dell Support/Download drivers site Product Support | Dell US type in your service tag # or make and model# and download the Video driver for your model.

I am running Vista Home Prem.I use an 8800 GTS EVGA.I have the latest drivers for my 8800. I run 2 Viewsonic monitors. One is a VG900b and is fine. I also run a VX2235 digital monitor. Both monitors are listed in device manager by model. I manually installed drivers directly off of the discs.I have also downloaded Viewsonic's monitor drivers. I can't get my 22" to go to it's native resolution of 1680x1050.I have had these installed for a long time and working fine. When I ran a hard disc error check that is listed under tools under properties of my computer it erased my 22" and it's capabilities to operate @ native resolution. Another difference is that before I manually installed the VX2235, it was listed as a 'non plug and play monitor' under device manager. I have never seen that before. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am this close to going out and buying a new XP Pro disc.

I just replaced a 1280x1024 Viewsonic monitor, that had gone bad, with another one (Viewsonic VA708).

Though I've never really been one to pay "hard hard" attention to how things look on a monitor - never felt a problem with anything - something just looks/feels "off" with this one.

This is most noticeable to me on the titles appearing on the browser tabs in Firefox. They just look "wrong" - watery maybe to my eye.

BUT... I have attached a screenshot comparing a blowup of a browser tab from my work computer Dell 1280x1024 monitor (top) and my new Viewsonic monitor (bottom), blown up to 1000 px wide (I cropped), and in the blowup, I can't tell the difference.

So why might I be perceiving things differently with this new monitor?

FWIW, I did update the driver from the Viewsonic site, and I also played with both the monitor's and the control panel's display adjustments.

I have a ViewSonic 19" CRT monitor (bought new in '99) connected to a PC that runs Win XP SP2, 512 MB RAM, Matrox Millenium AGP card.

The system ran fine until I moved it (carefully) to another room. The CPU boots but the monitor does not give any video. I get a black screen with a repetetive blue area that indicates no signal. The specific line entry is "No Synch". I think I may have seen this in the past, when the monitor was powered on but the CPU was shut off. I can't be certain it's the exact same condition.

I switched cables and tried a different video card but no luck. I don't have another monitor other than my laptop. I think I can hook it up to act as a monitor but not certain. Can't afford to crash the laptop.

Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome to TSG.

Do you happen to know if you are operating the monitor at or beyond its normal operating range for resolution and refresh rates?

Do you get a stable image if you start Windows with a lower resolution in Safe mode?

In the future, it would help us to help you if you give more details like the model number of the monitor and how it is connected to the computer. The TSG reporting utility program does not produce an exhaustive and detailed report about all of the hardware related to your computer.

It sounds like the vertical deflection is gone. Try the monitor on a different computer or a different monitor on yours to see where the problem is. If the monitor is bad its better to bury a new one than to pay to have it repaired. New monitors are pretty cheap now.

My 2nd attempt to get some help off the forums

A few days ago, I tried loading up Warcraft 3, a game, and the screen went black, with the light flashing on and off. If I alt tabbed out of WC3 the screen turned back on. The problem persisted after a restarted, so I left it for a while. A few hours later I tried and W3 worked fine, no problems.

However today I turn on my PC and after a few seconds during the boot up, the screen goes blank with the flashing on and off light again. I restart it and it goes blank even faster.
After a while on the forums (on my GFs laptop) I try pressing F8 before the screen goes blank, and then press ESC for the 'default' Boot option. It goes on to boot up normally, with screen errors. I test out warcraft 3, (since when I first saw this it was whilst starting up this program) and it works fine, and goes on to do so for a few hours, till I turn the screen off and on to see if the problem is permanently fixed. It hasn't, the screen goes black.
Upon restarting my PC I get the same error as before, Pressing F8 and Esc doesn't fix it anymore. However now after pressing Esc I get to the screen where they ask me if I would like to Boot up in Safe mode. I do so and it loads up in safe mode fine.
Later on I try again to get it to load in normal mode, it does first time. Then upon loading Warcraft 3 again, the screen goes black again, with the flashing light. Again rebooting results in the same black screen a few seconds into loading... Read more

I have a Viewsonic VA721 monitor that I was using up until earlier today when the monitor started acting like a scrambled cable tv channel when turned on.

I was wondering if anyone might happen to know as to what might cause that, what the technical term for it might be and as to whether or not it can be fixed.

Up until today I have never had any problems with the monitor. Every time I would walk away from the computer for a while I would shut the monitor off so that I could avoid any burn in problems with it thereby preserving the life of the monitor. Because of that I have never had any problems with it until today and at the moment I do not know what could be causing the problem.

I tried the monitor on two different computers with two different cables and got the same result. I bought the monitor in 2006 brand new and up until today it has served me faithfully without any problems.

I don't know if it can be fixed or even if it is worth it nor do I know if it is something that I can fix myself or if I would have to have someone else fix it.

What I do know is if there is anything that I can do to fix the problem myself and restore it to active service then I might choose to give it a try.

Until I have more answers though I cannot make an informed decision about any of it and that is why I am asking.

I am hoping that there will be someone here that will know about such things and can give me some straight advice and information about the monitor and the pro... Read more

Does your monitor also have built in speakers?
Try resetting your monitor to Factory Defaults.
On my LCD, Factory Reset is the last item on the main configuration screen.

There may be a separate reset for the Audio, so check that sub menu if you have one.

Hi Guys, I have no idea whats going on over at Viewsonic, however their support service is lacking some serious SUPPORT!!! Just the other day, I re-installed Vista 64 and had been happily using a x64 monitor driver for my VX2025WM, just before the re-install I decided to trall the net for latest drivers and deleted any old ones I had (stupid I know). Anyway on re-install with the latest unsigned driver - Standard_Monitor_Driver_Unsigned_Windows_x64 - Dated 04/10/2007, it is now telling me it cannot find my monitor. I've also tried the latest signed driver and this is not working either. I have tried a manual install from C:\Viewsonic and funny enough the monitor isn't even listed. I've asked Viewsonic for help with them replying asking me to download the latest unsigned driver (what the???) All I need is a copy of the previous unsigned driver to this one listed and I know 101% it will find my monitor and work, does anyone have it or know where I can find archived drivers, as Viewsonic have not responded to this request. Please help! Cheers in advance.

I then have to restart the machine. Also I have noticed that sometimes when I exit a game my screen resolution has changed to that of the game I was playing. I have all the latest driver for Monitor and Video card. I have and ABIT MB using RAID set up and it also has its BIO's and drivers updated. I run windows XP also with 512M corsair ram.

Any help is appreciated

Thx E West

A:Viewsonic monitor locks up computer

Doesn't sound like the monitor is involved in the problem. A quick swap to another monitor to just be sure.

Does it only occur on one particular game? Anything running hot? How tight is the power supply sized?

I'm stuck between these 3 monitors. The HP 27xi AOC i2757fh or the Viewsonic VX2770SMH-LED 27

They all look similar, but I'm just not sure which one to get. I'm leaning toward the HP 27xi though, but this site rated the AOC i2757fh a little higher over the HP 27xi. I'd like to hear some feedback from you guys.

My main usage is playing games like BF3/BF4, SWTOR and Titanfall when it comes out. I also do a lot of web surfing and occasional movie watcher on this monitor. My current monitor is a 24 inch Asus VW246H and I like it, but I don't love it. So my main concern is how well it displays games. I don't want any ghosting and the least amount of input lag I can find. Now, I know the AOC boasts a slightly quicker response time of 5ms vs the HP's 7 seconds, but the reviews I've read thus far state there is no visual lag from the HP. What do you guys suggest? Thanks in advance!

I just bought a new 19" A90F+ ViewSonic Monitor (not flat panel LCD) and everything went great for my 1st week. After this when I would move my mouse to take it off standby my perportions were off and the I could only see half the taskbar...I guess it change the display areas automatically. Also I have noticed some of the edges kinda slant in or curve at the edges some. It's so frustration because the bottom seems to be fine and the top corners can be half there. What's a joe to do?

PS: I Havne't even touched the OSD settings on the monitor itself...

Just upgraded to Win7 64bit. My trusty old monitor has no sound (the picture is fine) I found a driver for a generic Viewsonic x64 driver, http://www.viewsonic.com/support/dow...d_Win7_x64.zip but that didn't solve the problem. I read a suggestion somewhere to uninstall the driver and let Windows find it. That didn't solve the problem either. I tested the monitor with my old (XP) system, in case the monitor developed a sudden fault, but there is still sound when I plug it back in there.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I really don't fancy having to buy a new monitor too, after having had to replace my printer and scanner

A:Viewsonic vx2235wm-1 Monitor has no sound.

What does the monitor require? Older monitors, that use VGA or DVI usually have a Jack to connect from the PC's Speaker out (GREEN) to the monitor for sound. No driver is required for that. There is no audio in a VGA or DVI connection, just video.

Hello guys,

So one night when I left my computer on, i wake up at 3AM on a rainy night and i notice my entire room flashing (like from a tv in dark room). I thought I was having a rolling blackout, but as I got to my senses I noticed that my monitor was the only thing turning off and on. I turned it off, and went to sleep. The next morning I went to go turn on my computer and the monitor does the same thing. It turns off...on...off...on...off...CONSTANTLY (about a one to two second delay between each) until I turn the monitor off. The LED light is green. It goes from green, to off, to green, etc. I've had no prior problems with this monitor.

I tried switching out the power cord and plugging it into my wall (not connected to my video card, or anything)...no luck. It's definately the monitor. I don't know if it's dead or repairable or what. I often leave the computer on over night but i have a 10 minute screensaver and my monitor goes on standby after 20 minutes. When i fell asleep, my monitor was on standby (yellow LED). When I woke up it was the green turning on and off. Doesn't make much sense.

I don't have a replacement...so my situation is pretty bleek atm.

I have a Viewsonic LCD VX924 3ms that i bought around the holidays of 2005. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My monitor seems to be experiencing some kind of problem.

The best way I can describe it is as a 'widescreen' mode. There is a black bar on the top and bottom of the desktop about 1 inch wide and extending across the entire length of the screen. I cannot move the mouse into this portion of the screen.

When adjusting the horizontal and vertical settings, 100% stops with the 1 inch black bars still in place. I cannot seem to make the desktop fit the screen. It seems to have shifted into some other mode of viewing.

I called Viewsonic tech support, but they didn't really know much else to do besides checking my settings. I am at 1024 x 768 resoloution, Radeon 8500 64MB graphics card, Windows XP and have installed the most recent drivers. Even when booting - the black bars are present, as if the monitor has somehow decided that is the mode it wants to be in.

If anyone has come across something like this before or knows how I might be able to fix it, I'd be MUCH obliged!

Regards,

Jeff.

A:Viewsonic Monitor E771 Problem.

Might be starting to fail, 3 year warranty on those generally check the date on the back. Absolute easiest think to do would be to try it on another computer. On the other computer see if you square up the image with the screen if you can't then its the monitor, if you can it could be the video card.

I have a Dell E193FP monitor with a Dell Dimension E510 PC, running XP Professional. The system is 3 years old. Last week it suddenly started flashing the "Auto Adjust in Progress" message at startup and when brought out of standby. An earlier post to this forum said to turn off the auto adjust feature. This does not seem to be possible. The menu has no option for disabling or turning off auto adjust. What can I do to make this message stop appearing?

This is my situation. As shown in the diagram below, I have my webpage set up wherein the default page has only the banner section fixed. The content is iframe A, and as an item is selected from the menu, it is loaded into this frame. The content in iframe A is the menu bar and this content does not change.

My problem is that the different pages (items in the menu) all have different heights. I have had to make the two iframe heights = 4000px to make it long enough for my longest page but this leaves long areas of white space when the other shorter pages are loaded.

Is there a way to detect the length of the page being loaded into iframe A and adjust the height value of both iframe A and iframe B accordingly?

Hi, Thanks for looking into this.

Downloaded various files yesterday all scanned with Sophos,

A virus was detected and removed by Sophos yesterday (AM)and I believed that any potential problem was resolved...

all worked fine until this morning...

On opening Chrome and Facebook the "The site's security certificate is signed using a weak signature algorithm" screen appeared.

On proceeding Facebook's CSS was basically non existent leaving the page incorrectly displayed, the same applied to Google and any other HTTPS site.

Changed passwords as a precaution!!

Computer System Restore, Check Disk and Firewall are all disabled and an error appears (Syntax error) when trying to activate / open them

Google Chrome keeps redirecting to Ebay and various Porn and Advertisement Sites

Ran Sophos Scan which ended prematurely and crashed the system, system repeatedly hanging and crashing...

Tried "malwarebytes" software as recommended by another forum, this found and removed one item however on the required restart there was an error stating a DLL file was missing or corrupt, I have subsequently un-installed this software

Sophos now keeps reporting corrupt files and suspicious file behaviour.

Obviously there is a gremlin in the system....

I have followed the instructions in the preparation steps and have generated the Logs as follows:

DDS
ATTACH
and the GMER software is still scanning

Please advise...

Thanks

I need help in making my mind up between the gorgeous Lg 1981Q and the attractive Viewsonic Vx924.

I have recently upgraded my desktop and am thinking about shifting to dual screen, mainly for video and web editing (with a little bit of gaming on the side) and need help in picking out new monitor.

one of my problems is that the looks of the tft is very important to me, cos i cant look at something ugly all the time, i would like a tft which is slim and very sexy (just how i like my women )

If anybody owns either of these screens i would really appreciate their feedback, on how good the monitor is and if they would recommend it.

Thanks

Chewbacca.

P.s is there really that much noticable difference between 4 and 8 ms, and if so is it going to be noticable when video editing and gaming.

Never mind, as quick as the problem began, it's resolved itself for some reason. Post can be deleted.

I'm having a bit of a strange issue with my ViewSonic VX2258 monitor.
Out of nowhere, the screen started to flicker (not the sort of flickering you might expect from a loose cable, but literally going completely off and back on) every few seconds. Eventually the screen did not come back on at all.
Thinking there was a loose cable, I tried tightening them but to no avail. The light on the monitor is still blue showing that it is detecting an input and Windows still detects that the monitor is plugged in.
When I turn the monitor off and on, I can see the ViewSonic logo, but oddly enough after that it is a black screen and I am unable to get any system menus to appear (the ones that are generated by the monitor itself, not the PC) or change the source. I would have thought that because of this, there is something wrong with the display but that doesn't seem to be the case considering I can see the logo upon starting the monitor. (Perhaps something to do with firmware?)
I don't think that it is a problem with my GPU as my secondary monitor (a Samsung SyncMaster) still seems to be functioning perfectly but just in case, it is a Powercolor Radeon R9 290X and my drivers are all up to date.
Thanks for the help!

Is there an applic or whatever that ensures sound always comes out of our speakers at a comfortable level,ie not too quiet and not too loud?
It's a real hassle having to constantly twiddle our speaker volume knob up and down to suit a series of individual videos etc.

First, let me pat all the site volunteers on the back. The service you provide is honorable!

I've recently been infected with something that is exhibiting a few symptoms.

1. Random pop-ups to various sites (some bogus Antivirus sites, some seemingly innocent).
2. I'm getting warnings that windows automatic updates are not turned on but they appear to be. The Automatic Updates service is not running and I cannot get it to run (getting error 1058.)
3. Not sure if this is related but a recently installed McAfee suite (via AT&T internet service) is giving me occasional BSOD with mfehidk.sys as the probable culprit (via windbg)

I haven't been able to make headway on this myself and would appreciate any advice.

KChristians, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Sounds like you have WU set to automatically download and install updates, and it updated either the video or monitor driver. If that is what happened check your update history and you can uninstall it from there and should get you back to the previous drive.

Also if that s what it was you might want to set WU to not download and install drivers automatically, step #4 here,

Title says it all really, just put a scratch in my 3 week old monitor , mildly annoyed about it and wondering whether theres any way to make it go away. When I run my finger over it it dusn't feel like a scratch, but with the monitor off, or showing a bright white screen its quite evident, and running fingernail over it i can tell its an indentation. Against bright white it looks almost like the effect seen if theres water on your monitor (rainbowy), if that helps at all. Basically i'd just like to be not able to see it, and was wondering if you had any suggestions?

hi all - ive got a problem with my new viewsonic vx2753mh-led monitor. its got 2x hdmi inputs and one vga.

the vga works straight off the bat, but whenever I try and plug the hdmi in it just says no input signal detected and goes black

I noticed in device manager that this was installed as 'generic non-pnp monitor' so after jumping through some hoops i managed to install the driver as 'viewsonic vx2753 SERIES'
Anyway this doesnt seem to have made a difference. still no input through the hdmi.

I have tested to cord on my samsung tv and it worked fine so it can't be a problem with the cord or the graphics card....

just some general info that might be of use:
windows 7 x64
dual monitor setup

the graphics is integrated on the intel i5 chip
my display adapters in device manager says Intel(R) HD Graphics Family.
it has a dvi out, hdmi out, and vga out.

thanks for any help you can give!

A:Viewsonic LCD monitor not recognizing HDMI input signal.

I have a Viewsonic which I'm also trying to run a media PC to connected via an HDMI cable, and I have noticed the exact same thing.

It was working fine for awhile, but recently I have been receiving an error on screen saying the "HDMI to DVI cable as experienced an error" or something to that effect. Note: I am using strictly an HDMI cable, not an HDMI to DVI as the message states (can't explain why I'm getting that message). I did the same thing you did, tested the machine using the same cable on another tv, and it worked fine on the other tv. What's strange is I can connect the cable box to the tv using the identical HDMI cable and it worked fine. Tried again using the same cable from the PC to the tv, and either 1) blank screen, or 2) shrunken screen with the aforementioned error which will go blank once I open Media Center.

Sorry, I don't have an answer, but it seems to me Viewsonic hasn't made a good product in terms of connecting media PC's, for some reason. Of course, my tv is out of warranty at this point. If you find an answer, keep me posted, I'll do the same.

I have a Viewsonic VT2430 monitor/tv, and a Windows Vista 64, with ATI 4200 graphics chip PC.

Just got a brand new Gateway LCD GATEWAY and it was fine for the first 2 days until I played a 3D game, then it asked me would I like to Enable the Resolution reminder and I chose yes, and now I am UNABLE to disable it...because when I go to the Resolution Reminder menu on my screen the SELECT button isnt there, so I cant select disable, the checkmark constantly stays on ENABLE..here is a screenshot from the gateway website RESOLUTION REMINDER there you can see that the SELECT button which should be between BACK and UP clearly isnt there, so its not as if my screen is faulty, cuz this is a screenshot directly from their website which must mean all these LCDs come like this. so now any resolution I choose gets AUTO PROCESSED to fullscreen mode, meaning it gets stretched and heightened to fit my whole screen, even if I choose the lowest setting available 800x600 it stretches all across my whole screen.. which as u can imagine looks very very VERY ugly!!! One thing I would like to point out that might be an issue is that I am using Analog plugs, I had to use a converter from my XFX 6600GT cuz the card only has two DVI outputs, so I used to provided converter to switch it to analog and plug it into my screen, cuz I read sumwhere that depending on what plugs u have going from your vid card to your screen the resolutions are different..
any help?? cuz I sure couldnt get any from the numerous Gateway support agents I spoke too..

This is a tough one.
I installed PowerDVD 9 on an HP DC7600 loaded up with fast components and full 4gb memory, using the default/onboard Intel graphics.
It played gorgeous - everything looked great, and I didn't tweak anything.

Installed a Geforce 7300 gs card, setup the drivers, etc, adjusted gamma et al using the Nvidia control panel. All static video looks outstanding.
BUT , when I run PowerDVD 9 now on the same movie as before, something looks odd... its like, previously it looked good up close - everything very smooth and brilliant. Now it looks good from a distance, but up close it looks "overdone" - like the colors overshoot a tad, and it seems that the edges of fast-moving images are getting some noise.

What I'm really wondering is whether PowerDVD bypasses the video card, or uses it??? if the latter, does it auto-adjust something when it first installs? And if so, do I need to uninstall & reinstall?

thanks folks

Dear All Experts,

Hello! How are you all doing? Well today, I came across this Viewsonic LCD Monitor which looks quiet appealing and of course, being manufactured by the leading display technology company of the world Viewsonic! Heres the link to the product:

Viewsonic VX2433wm (24inch HD LCD Monitor)
http://www.viewsonic.com/products/de...s/vx2433wm.htm

Now here's what I need to know:

My main use of an LCD Monitor will be to:

* Watch Movies (Which should include a DVD & High Definition (HD) Quality Videos).
* Play 3D and Normal Games.
* Movies like Jurassic Park, Speed, Titanic, Action Movies, etc...
* Web browsing, doing back work on PC, Listening to music.

So, this in short will be the purpose of using a new LCD Monitor. So far, I am using CRT Monitor.

Once you have gone through the above link, could you kindly let me know how well would this Viewsonic LCD Monitor fair in terms of my above mentioned usage.

BUT NOW HERE's A TwIsT >>> While looking forward to buy an LCD Monitor, one question that kills my decision of buying it is that What if a Touch Screen LCD Monitor will be made available once Windows 7 releases to users. So, first time posting; forgive me if any etiquette is incorrect.
I was able to find another thread with some experiencing the same problem with a different brand of monitor but no solution was found.

I recently bought a Samsung B2230 and plugged my laptop into it via VGA. The screen image position was slightly off so I instinctively hit Auto-Adjust and instead of correcting it, it further moved the screen image down to the point where the whole task bar is missing at the bottom of the screen and there is about a centimeter sized black strip across the entire top of the screen.
I have already tried adjusting the resolution and repeatedly hitting auto-adjust as well as manually adjusting in the menu of the monitor; nothing has worked thus far.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Ok.. I really need some help here.

I have had Battlefield 1942 Pc game for about a couple of years, and it works fine, no probs or anything. lasnight I was gaming, and as the map was loading, the screen looked about a millimeter to the left, so I pressed the 'auto-adjust' button on my tft moniter, to find that the screen had gone really wierd. I done a system restore, un-installed it and found that I could't re-install it because of this error message. I scanned the registry with a program and fixed the problems. I installed it, and found that I still had the same problem. I have also tried

unplugging the moniter and plugging it back in again
Restarting (obviously)
Booting up in VGA Mode

The top screenshot is what the main menu normally looks like (I have it english; i nicked this one off another site just to give you an idea), and the lower one is what it looks like on my pc.

also, I tried pressing print screen to take a screenshot, but when I pasted the image into an image editor, it looked how it should look, not fuzzy at all. I just thought it might help. I had to take a picture with my camera to show you instead.

The image from the builtin webcam on my 5600U AIO has always been way too bright.(For example, to use it for video chat, I have to be in a semi-dark room, otherwise the image is really washed out.) This is Windows 10. The Camera app Settings apparently has nothing for brightness. Is it possible to adjust it some other way? Thank you very much! ..Bill..

My LCD monitor is a little over a year old and I feel it is losing brightness. Is this common? How do I make it brighter? I went through some menus with the buttons on the monitor but there isn't any options about brightness.

Nothing in the Control Panel adjust brightness either but I rememberd adjusting brightness somewhere.

So how do I make my monitor brighter?

Hi! I have an ASUS VS238 monitor. I'm trying to change the brightness settings---way to bright. I push the contrast/brightness button on the bottom of the monitor and a little box pops up with brightness. I click on the up/down buttons on my keyboard and nada. Nothing happens. After a few seconds the box disappears. I've tried using the cursor, but as soon as it tries to enter the brightness box it disappears. I've tried the menu button, and the up down buttons don't work, but if I push the menu button again, it drops down to standard. I push the button again, and I get a box asking yes or no. It's set on no. I push again and it returns to standard, push again and I'm in a back and forth loop. How do I get the buttons to work? Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am using a hp w2207h. I want a software method that easily allows me to adjust the brightness. Currently I have to go through the monitors menu using the physical buttons on the monitor.

A:Program to adjust monitor brightness?

There isn't one. The only thing a piece of software can do is desaturated the colors to make it appear it has dimmed the screen.

I just got my Acer 144hz gaming monitor.
I have it connected to my MSI 970 GPU.

I just connected everything up lastnight and looks pretty good.
It came with 2 cables? DVI and D sub? Which connection should I use to get the best performance? It also has an HDMI and display.
Also. Does anything need to be set or adjusted right out of the box? I know I can adjust the color etc.. But does 144hz need to be set? Or is it 144hz right out of the box?

With my MSI 970 is there a option to adjust settings to maximize its performance? Or is it pretty much right out of the box all set and ready to go?
I just want to make sure I maximize my monitor and GPU to get the best performance and picture out of it.

Hi there,

Many thanks to the experts here for helping with a similar problem already... I just need to know: what do I run from the Task Manager to get to a place where I can change monitor resolution? (Assuming it's possible ^_^). Does anyone know?
[Yes, you may have noticed -- I need to do things with the Task Manager all the time that ought to be done with the start menu, I'm going to post all about that another time! ^_^ Because it might be a biggie.]

A:Can I adjust monitor resolution from the Task Manager?

Can you right click your Desktop, choose Properties and under the Settings tab you'd adjust your Resolution. Try bringing up Task Manager click on File>New Task (Run) then type in Desk.cpl and click OK, This should open your Display Properties and click the Settings tab which is where you'd adjust the Resolution.

Hello.

My computer currently has 3 monitors connected to it. 2 through the graphics card (R9 280), 1 through the integrated graphics (AMD HD 3000). Not sure when why or how, but the integrated graphics card can never pick up what type of monitor is connected to it... so it always gives me a bunch of generic 4:3 resolutions...

I've tried uninstalling the drivers and letting them reinstall. I've tried swapping around the cables to see if i could get lucky with one of the other screens, but they all face the same issues. I've tried buying brand new cables across the board because sometimes people say that's the issue. But not success.

The cloest thing i have is apparently a custom resolution setter, but it was created for windows 7 in mind and doesn't seem to work on windows 10 (PowerStrip).

My question is, is there anyway to format the list so i can select the correct resolution? It's a Toshiba TV/Monitor and it seems like every thing else attached to my pc (even 3rd party programs i tried to use to forcably change the resolution) can spot it and hand me back the correct resolution but i can't seem to change it. I get Genertic pnp through the control panel (the only place the monitor shows up in) and even then the correct driver doesn't show, it's the Microsoft Generic driver.

I've updated my AMD drivers to the latest and so far can only modify the resolution to stock ones that look horrid on the screen.

So Again, i'd a... Read more

I have hooked up my LCD TV (Panasonic 32LX700) monitor to my portable PC (HP6-2152nr) via hdmi. The PC has a built-in media card (Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD.) The monitor's image is too contrasty and the color is off, whereas the PC's images are good. How can I get the same color/contrast on the TV as I have on the PC? On thing I was thinking of was do the corrections, if possible, on a TV mode that I generally don't use. So, when I watch media from the PC, I would then switch the TV mode from its normal viewing mode to the "corrected" mode???

EDIT
I have found one solution and that is when in Screen Resolution, set Display to multiple monitors. This setting has both the TV and the PC screen on and the contrast/color is the same for both screens. However, I would think that one could still control color/contrast with another method(s)???

A:How adjust color/contrast on TV monitor-PC hook up?

In the Intel Graphics control panel there are settings for gamma, brightness RGB and saturation. Usually there is an icon in the system tray otherwise you will find it in the control panel. I believe you can set up profiles for different displays......exactly what you need to do.

I encouraged my 84 yr old stepdad to buy a larger monitor for his failing eyesight. Alas, the new Acer H243H 24" monitor is bigger but the full screen option distorts everything (squashed images). We have his XP settings pushed up to 800 resolution to make the text/icons as big as possible. But how do you fill a monitor's entire space with largest text/icons possible -- without distortion?

A:Help me adjust stepdad's new 24" Acer Monitor

I think I answered my own question. After hours of googling I learned widescreen monitors are designed to show several windows at once NOT for enlarging 1 page's view. At least now my stepdad can see his entire desktop (when resolution is set at 800) even if his Solitaire cards are stumpy. It seems, from my research, there are no good solutions yet for failing eyesight and computer monitors. Even magnifiers only enlarge 2X. We had encouraged stepdad to buy a new TV and plug his computer into that, and according to one forum, that's the best solution. TV's work on lower resolution. . . I feel bad I helped him spend all that $ on a new, bigger monitor that just introduced a new problem.

So, a couple of hours ago I downloaded and installed the game at this link: Download and play free game: Super Mario Bros. 3 | Classic Retro Games and started playing it. When I opened it, the game went straight to full screen, and I couldn't figure out how to downsize it, so after screwing around with it for awhile I just shut the computer down.

When I restarted, my monitor resolution was, I don't know, one? two? It's so distended that I can't, for instance, right click, select properties, and adjust the resolution, because the toollbar takes up most of the screen and the mouse refuses to navigate above it.

Restarting doesn't work, nor does adjusting the resolution in safe mode then restarting. Display in safe mode is normal.

So tell me--what's a girl to do, besides light the whole thing on fire?

A:Cannot adjust monitor resolution after downloading game

Try "Last known good configuration" in the advanced boot options menu if you havnt already. Otherwise maybe run Malwarebytes in safe mode to make sure you dont have a virus of some sort. Just a couple ideas

You've probably pressed the shortcut key for rotating the monitor.
Try around with Ctrl + ALt + arrow keys.

If that doesn't work right click desktop and go into properties, and there should be graphics property where you can change it. Usually it'll be where your graphics card program/software is.

I have Word 2002, SP3, for Windows Office XP Pro.

My problem is I want to permanently turn OFF the autocorrect options (all of them: correct initial capitals, correct first letters of days, etc etc, autoformat, as well as auto text and auto type).

Yes, I have unchecked all the boxes in Tools > Autocorrect Options, the problem is I have to painstakingly go though all the boxes every time I open Word and uncheck them. My setups are not remembered.

I can't figure out how to make these options stay set this way.

I've tried installing the Office Resource Kit and setting a system policy (though I am the only user on this PC), but no success.

I had to rebuild my system a month ago -- before that, I never had any problems, Word seemed to remember exactly my preferred set up and saved autocorrect options etc to the normal template.

I checked the normal template and it is in Doc Settings folder where it should be.

I searched the forums and Word help but can't seem to find any advice, mainly because most people usually run these options and they only wish to modify the instances where they apply, rather than permanently disable them.

Please help! Much appreciated! Thanks!

Recently the screen started shrinking at the bottom. The rest of the screen is fine. It occurs where the taskbar is. Sometimes it only squeezes half the area of the taskbar and sometimes almost all of it. It can be hard to see the icons on the taskbar. Usually, after calling up a program which changes the screen, it reverts to normal; sometimes it reverts faster than at other times. I seem to find it most often when exiting the screensaver. I have an older Viewsonic A90f CRT and I am wondering if the problem might be in the monitor itself, or in the video card, which is built into the mobo. I figure, whichever it is, I'm gonna be out some bucks.

I appreciate any help you can offer.

I want to adjust in the first instance the brightness and contrast controls by using the buttons on the front panel. No way can I either move from one adjustment to the other, nor can I operate the up/down arrows to alter the brightness and contract settings. Dell talks of using the OSD menu ( presumably accessed by the front screen buttons) but again 'no luck', so I can't do any tests they want done.

I'm utterly stumped. Anyone able or willing to help? Please!

How are you connecting the monitor? VGA? DVI? HDMI? Looking at the manual the adjustments seem to be only for VGA.

Only thing I can think of is that your video settings got changed somehow. Can you put another monitor on your machine, boot up into windows. go to start/settings/control panel/display/settings tab/advanced button/adapter tab/ in the drop down box if refresh rate is set to optimal change it to adapter default, save , shutdown and hook up the other monitor. Long shot, probably won't work

I have a new Dell S2415H monitor and am having an issue where the display doesn't fill the monitor. There is 3/4" vertically and 1/2" horizontally of unused display on my monitor. My old monitor still fills the screen fine, it is just the new monitor.

Does this sound like a configuration issue or maybe faulty hardware?

This monitor came with a DMI cable and the usual VGA cable. I ordered and installed an nvision 6200 card and I installed the latest drivers for the card and disabled the onboard video on the motherboard. Question: I attached the DMI and VGA cables onto the Video card but I not sure that this hookup is correct. Should the VGA cable be attached direct;y to the tower or is my present hookup just as good. Picture quality is good but it 'may be' better if the VGA is hooked to the tower. As usual, TIA.

EDIT: Just thought my question and I believed my present hookup is the only way for me to go. Why? Because I disabled the onboard video, hooking the VGA cable to the tower would not do anything for me.
