Convert downloaded Silverlight files

Q: Convert downloaded Silverlight files

I need to be able to convert Silverlight videos from the website http://www.trainsignal.com into files that can be viewed later.

I have some videos that I download and then watch with an offline video player.

The problem is that I can only download one of these videos to be stored for offline viewing.

We just need to be able to find a way of converting these video Silverlight video files into a different format, save these files to a hard drive, and then have them available so that they can be watched during times when there is no internet connection available to download more files.

We have already used methods such as screen recording software to record these videos while they are being played but now we are looking for a more automated and efficient way of doing this.

What are some other methods or programs that will help us do this?

Help me Convert this WPF to Silverlight

I am interested in a Charles Petzold C# example that shows how to do a fisheye effect ( http://www.charlespetzold.com/blog/2009/05/Realizing-a-Fisheye-Effect-in-Silverlight.html ). The XAML code samples are in WPF but I want to try this in Silverlight.

When I try to create the XAML code in Silverlight, the compiler complains in two locations:

<Style TargetType="{x:Type Button}">
Error 1 The type 'x:Type' was not found. Verify that you are not missing an assembly reference and that all referenced assemblies have been built.

<Style.Triggers>
Error 2 The attachable property 'Triggers' was not found in type 'Style'.

How do I convert this to Silverlight? And, no, this is not a homework question

Hello, Please help me. I have Windows 2000 Professional. I'm pretty new to all this as I have only had a computer for about a week. I got some adware threats detected by Norton Antivirus 2004 and have done a lot of reading up and I am now tring to delete them.

One of the removal instructions provided by Norton promps me to delete a file in C:\Winnt\Downloaded Program Files but when I go to view this folder it looks like there are no files inside. Now, I know there are files in there as Norton Antivirus has picked up one in there and when I view the proporties for that folder it states there are 12 files inside but when I view the folder with Windows Explorer it appears empty!

I've gone into folder option and changed the settings so it shows hidden files and hidden system files yet this still doesn't let me view the files in this folder. How can I delete this file if I am unable to view it?

If anyone can point me to a turorial that explains this or explain it to me I would really appreciate this.

Please help a n00b.

Cheers, Luke.

A:Unable to view files in C:\Winnt\Downloaded Program Files

I'm assuming you have done this to Show hidden files and folders:
Go to Control Panel/Folder Options/View and select "Show hidden files and folders"

Also, place a check in "Display the contents of system folders"
And,uncheck "Hide protected operating system files(Recommended)"

If the above doesn't work try this:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced.
Create the REG_DWORD ShowSuperHidden (if it doesn't already exist) Set the value to 1, click OK, and close the Registry editor

I receive .txt documents as compressed zip files in my go-daddy web e-mail. When I unzip the file and click on the document icon, the icon has been changed to a Word icon. When I open the document, it has been converted to a Word document.

I then have to 'select all', copy and paste to notepad and save it as a text document before I can use it.

What could possibly be causing a zipped text file to open as a word document?

I want to be able to import a DEM file from a video I recorded while playing Half-life 2 Deathmatch with the record console command, to Windows Movie Maker. But ,with DEM files not being a compatible format with many video programs , including movie maker and windows media player ,I can't. I've saw a lot of video converters that are compatible with many formats while searching the web , but none of them mentioned being able to convert DEM files to WMV files ,or any other type of file that would be compatible with Windows Movie Maker. If anyone has some good info on a good video converter that can convert DEM files to WMV files , that would be great! I don't get why windows xp comes with an audio converter but not a video converter ,but anyway. I have OS XP(3), IE8, Office 2010

I am trying to d/l a pptx file from our organizational website (that I use regularly). The file is shown as a pptx file (as displayed by the properties feature), but when I click to d/l it, it shows up as a zip file to be opened and the computer tries to unzip it, but doesn't do a very good job in doing so.

I have tried to d/l other pptx files from other internet sites and they work (d/l) OK.

I have the same OS on another laptop and it d/ls this particular file from this particular site just fine.

I can change (rename) the extension on this file (from zip to pptx) and it works fine

I have tried everything reccomended on various PPT forums and it hasn't worked.

The file association is Microsoft PowerPoint.

The file d/ls perfectly with Firefox.

What is it about the configuration of XP/IE8 that lets this happen?

The issue here is that this particular file has been posted to the website for members of our organization to d/l and use. Many of these members are not savvy enough to be able to 'manipulate' the file and use it as it was designed. I am tryng to make this d/l as user friendly as is possible.

Hi all,

I'm just wondering if there is any software that can convert .wpl files (video not audio) into another format so I can burn it onto a DVD.

I understand from looking around that .wpl is an extension that refers to the location rather than the format and it was suggested to change the extension to .txt, then open it up in notepad to discover the URL. I've done this but have no idea what to do with the information there

Am trying to restore emails deleted on compacting files in OE6. They are currently saved on my desktop as 'Inbox.dbx.bak'. This occurred when I tried renaming the file .bak to .dbx. Apparently I can't shake the .bak tag.

I believe this is complicated by the fact that I run AutoCADlt and it uses .bak as a drawing backup and it defaults any .bak to an AutoCADlt file.

If I right-click on the file and open Properties is it named 'Inbox.dbx' but if I double-click on the icon to try and open it the name is 'Inbox.dbx.bak'. The icon is also the AutoCADlt icon.

Any suggestions?

Hi guys,
I am using Batch Real Producer to convert my AVI files to RM files. All is well until i formatted my PC last month. Since then when i convert some of my AVI files, they just convert the audio only and not the video.

Then i notice that when i select view>thumbnail in my folder, the AVI files i mentioned just now remains as default player icon. It did not show the screen. Then i downloaded some codec, and this makes all the AVI files to show their 'video screen' when i select view>thumbnails.

But still i cannot convert these AVI files. Not all AVI files are affected but mostly. Last time before formatting my PC all is working well.

Please help.
Thanks in advance.

Downloaded several films in AVI format, before burning onto disc want to convert to dvd type file, so I can then burn onto disc and watch on my dvd player.

Tried using Nero, Easy MPEG/avi/divx/wmv/rm to DVD & any video converter programmes with all the same results, the programme will start to convert and will then crash.

THis has lead me to the conclusion that it isnt a software issue, but a hardware issue. I have reformatted my harddisk, however still have the same problem. This is where I get confused as I used to be able to convert files using Nero on this computer without a problem, however since I started getting the problem then reformatted my harddisk , you would think that I should be able to convert again, but alas no.

Any ideas as I am going mad with this one.

Hey everyone!

i was opening the old empire earth game seeking to take it's music... however in the music folder i found big .dls files + 4Kb SGT files and some small STY files ( around 250KB).

i read on the internet that the STY File is required to open the dls file....

i wonder if anyone of you guys can help me convert these music files to mp3 format.

Thank you .

A:How To Convert Dls Files To Mp3?

Don't know of any conversion process, but you could use something like Audacity to record the music, as it plays, then save it as an .mp3.

I just did a clean install of Win 8 Release Preview, 64 bit. I moved my profile from C: (SSD) to d: (HDD) using a recommendation I found in the forum. I did not move the program data. I wanted to download and install some programs, but when I do, I can't get them to run. They are setup .exe programs. In IE if I click to open, nothing happens. I clicked on View Downloads in IE and it opens a Window with the downloads and if I try to open one a list is shown that asks how do you want to open this file and a list of programs like IE, Notepad, Paint, etc.

I've pre-ordered Win 8 to install when it is shipped.

Can you post a link to web page of the recommendation you followed to move profile from c: to d:.

Recently - I've been having a strange problem. when I download a photo or image, or even capture a screen shot and save it to a folder, I cannot see it in that folder. I originally thought i had not hit save properly or not saved a file that I thought I had - but when i tried to re download an image or capture it again and name it the same thing - I got a message saying there was already a file by that name in the folder.

I have tried ensuring all hidden files are shown, and refreshed the window to no avail. but when i restart the computer, I am able to see the files in the folder as the should have been displayed all along. also confusing - when i look in the folder after saving...say if I've saved 12 images into the folder from the net or screen capture, but the folder is only displaying 1 image - it was say the folder only contains one image...

how can i fix this so i do not need to reboot every time i want to see newly created images?

A:Can't See Downloaded Files

Sounds like a view issue on the folder itself, to be honest.

Since upgrading my computer and reinstalling Windows XP Home with all upgrades, I haven't been able to run executable downloaded files (most recently openoffice but also Google Earth Pro trial). The files download properly but when I try to run them them, I get the message "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

I have no problem installing programs from CD.
I'm using IE beta 7 but have tried the same process using Firefox. All Windows Updates are complete. Running Norton AV 2003 and NVidia firewall set to Antihacking only.

Any ideas?

Hello, I have an HP laptop running Vista Home Premium 64-bit. It's actually been relatively fine for me until the last few days. I was having some problems editing video files and couldn't figure out why, so I updated to service pack 2. Around the same time, although I honestly cannot be sure that it was because of the update, none of my downloads will work. I believe it happened once or twice before I updated my sp but now I can't download ANYTHING. It's bizarre. The entire file will download and the file will show download progress just like normal. But, once complete the file shows up as 0 kb and doesn't open. I've tried using firefox 3.5.3 and IE 8...both do the same thing. I have also checked my permissions and made sure that I am allowed access to all of the folders that the documents are saved in. Nothing seems to help.

I really don't want to have to format/reinstall windows since I have quite a bit of stuff I would need to backup. Any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated. Thanks.

I just downgraded from Vista SP2 to Vista SP1 and by doing so, have somehow screwed up my downloads in both Firefox and IE8. Whenever I download in either one, the download results in a file that is 0 kb.

The strange thing is, Google Chrome somehow wasn't affected by this downgrade (if that's what caused this) and I can download files fine in that browser.

Can someone tell me what's going on here and how to fix this in IE8 and FF 3.5? I've already tried reinstalling FF and it didn't help at all.

A:Downloaded Files Are 0 KB

Why did you downgrade form SP2 to SP1? Try reinstalling SP2.

Does this problem only occur in Internet Explorer, or do you have another browser that works correctly?

Have you tried doing a System Restore to fix the problem?

If you can, post a HijackThis scanlog:

Download and install HijackThis using the "self extractor". Run it and select "do a system scan and save the log file". Then copy/paste the contents of the log to a reply

http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe

I recall a rather similar, and unfortunately unresolved, problem in this thread. You might compare notes with it, particularly in regard to the programs you see in the Scanlog:

This relates to a business I'm helping. what should have been easy turns out intractable. The main executive secretary person left. replaced by new person. it gives an opportunity to shift from old xp based workstation to win7 and modern apps etc. the old worker deleted her ISP-provided email account, and removed her Outlook Express account. Left the identity.
New person setup her own OE6 account before I got called in. She did not deliberately create a new Identity nor set an Identity level password, but both the new one and the old one are now magically password protected. Frankly its been long time since I had to deal with OE and I don't recall EVER seeing pwd protect on Identity.

at any rate, the old .dbx files are big and we would like to make them available - lots of "Paper trails" of business transactions. it should have been easy to import those to something but has proven impossible so far. I can open the inbox.dbx for instance in a text app [wordpad] and see the headers and subject lines and other non-binary data. nothing appears corrupt, but using dbxconvert and trying to import to thunderbird, to live mail... nothing can crack them. I get "no message found". but there they are.

any ideas? google searching just gives the same ideas all over again... these SHOULD work but don't.
I'll take eml, pst, txt, mbox... whatever

Hi Biglubin

I have same issue..did you get this resolved and if so how? Thanks.

My big problem is when I am creating the DVD the process stops after about twenty minutes with the message "cannot convert the captured files". I have made many DVDs from video transferred from my sony hanycam but this is a new glitch. Even Sony tech can't figure it out. Have you had this issue as well?
So I'd like to try to take this video file and create a DVD with new software but the files are in .ctd format and the new programs won't recognize it. So frustrating!
Any input you have is greatly appreciated.

Hi and Welcome -

I hope this is as simple a solution as I believe it to be.

When saving the file - just as you did - enter both the filename and extension. Then, below the filename is a box labeled "Save as Filetype", Click on the small arrow on the right side and select "All Files". In the screen shot below, I am saving a Notepad text file as "config.sys".

Here is the screen shot:

Please let me know of the outcome. If the Universal Access Control (UAC) interferes let me know as well. It may say "Access Denies" or something related to insufficient privileges.

I have a lot of .ca files on cd i need to open

how can i open .ca files

i uploaded attachment with .ca file in rar for anyone that can help

maybe anyway to convert .ca to .exe

maybe vb will do this

A:How to open or convert .CA files

There are two kinds of files that have a .ca extension:

1. DATAIR FlexPlus Data Files.

2. Initial cache data for root domain servers (Telnet). What does this do? It stores information used for establishing telnet connections; it's typically found on Unix/Linux platforms; "named.ca" contains a list of the world's root DNS servers. These files cannot be opened in Windows-based systems, but in Unix (although typically should not be opened), they may be viewed with a text editor.

I am trying to help a friend find a safe and easy way to download Youtube videos. So I found a Firefox add-on called DownloadHelper that seems to be a prominent and well-working one. However, the app or add-on downloads all videos in FLV files. So the addon suggested installing an app called ConvertHelper.
Currently, I am using his laptop that has no antivirus sadly enough. I'll get around to getting one for him as well, but does anyone know of ConvertHelper? I've googled the app but got no reviews on it. Or do you guys know of any other apps that can convert FLV files?

If he decides to just keep FLV files and watch them later, do you know of a program to watch FLV files?

Thanks a bunch

Hey. i have got a lot of flac files, should i keep them or should i transform them to mp3 or waw or another format, and if that is the case what program should i use for this process, advice needed

A:CONVERT AUDIO FIlES

flac is a lossless compression format, and can be played with wmp and wmc with the right codec installed. If you convert to mp3 you may lose a small amount of quality, but gain a lot of space. You also have to 'jump through hoops to get the flac files to show in your library. Have a look at this program for conversion... http://www.flacmp3.net/down/flac2mp3.exe

A:How do i convert Realplayer files onto a VCD?

hi!

Any Quick Time, Real Player or for that matter any Video file format must be converted first into mpeg for VCD or Mpeg2 for SVCD. Listed below is a site where you will be able to find information on creating VCD's or SVCD's.
http://www.dvdrhelp.com/

You will also need a convertor for the paticular format you wish to convert. VCDHelp offers some convertors but you may have to research www.google.com to locate specific convertors.
