Help! Something downloaded and Cant find it

Q: Help! Something downloaded and Cant find it

Last nite something tried downloading to my system. I THOUGHT I denied it permission, but immediately A squared IDE started popping alerts whenever I opened any browsers or Outlook Express. (Since I thought I had denied it access to download, I didnt really pay attention to the warning).

So far nothing has tried accessing the internet (i.e., no Zone Alarm requests) but I do assume something "wrong" is here. Here is my Hijackthis log:

I downloaded 3DMark from this site. 1.6 GB When it opened it went to a 'registery fixit'.
I already have one and dropped out of that. But, I lost 3DMark.

AND, I came back and downloaded it again! (duh) Each time took ~18 minutes. Again, when
it oped it did the same thing. I was trying to get Properties fast before anything happened and
I lost it again.

Well, I was just in my game and my computer is sorta humming. I can't blame it on the
new program, but I've gotta find this thing and get it off my computer.

Can anyone help?

A:Downloaded 3D, can't find it

Where do you have your browser set to put downloaded files? Go to that folder & see if it is there, if so, delete it. I hope its that easy for you.

Hi all

I've just had a real shock. Apparently I downloaded around 1.8 gigs last night (16/9/14 local calendar). That would be a movie or some massive update like I once got from Adobe when I was using Creative Suite.

The "Installed Updates" window shows nothing from last night. My own memory confirms I wasn't watching a movie or consciously downloading anything massive. My Firefox History Bar confirms this.

I'll ask this question like a gumby because thart's what I am. Is there any file Win7 has that logs downloads?

I use mobile broadband to connect to the internet and I've heard of people piggybacking bandwidth, so maybe there's nothing to find on my machine, but if I don't ask, I guess I won't even get a laugh.

Any and all advice gratefully received.

A:Can Windows help me find what I've downloaded?

As far as I know Ctrl+J will open your downloads in Firefox or Internet explorer,

Also Start and Downloads will show you everything downloaded Use Alt to bring up the Menubar and V-View and Sort by ascending and I believe the latest will be on top,

my issue I did a download and know the name of it and for some reason after it is downloaded it vanishes and can not be found any wheres on my laptop.

How can I find this download?

A:Can not find a download I downloaded

In Firefox, on same line as address bar, there should be a down arrow. Click it to reveal recent downloads which are clickable from there.

To find the location, right side of that drop down has a button to open the file location.

after i do a Windows Update for XP how do i find them in my computer to make sure they installed completely? i can no longer get the Update History Page either via Tools/Windows Updates/Options 'check to see your current installed files'' to display while at the Windows Website for Updates/Downloads that used to show what my compter had installed previously when notified that ''updates' for Windows i.e. security patches/upgrades, etc. are available, ''choose custome or express'' please can you help me? thanks in advance

A:How do i find downloaded files?

I'm pretty sure that if you go into the Add/Remove programs winows, there's a checkbox that says "show updates", from there it'll list all of the updates and that would tell you if they've been installed correctly..
Sorry I'm no longer running windows xp, so i'm not positive on this

I am using a free program in internet explorer ( to teach a child to read and write on an old computer that has a small hard drive and an unreliable internet link.

I am happy to have found that once I click on one of the chapters of this on-line teaching program in Internet Explorer that the chapter is not only useable while I am on line, but can also be accessed and operated via internet explorer for many days afterwards - ie when I am online.

this leads me to think that the computer must somehow download the whole chapter and store it somewhere in its memory. My question is a simple one: where???

the reason I ask is this. As I said the computer we are using for this purpose is an old one with a small hard drive that is now full. But we want to keep "downloading" and using more chapters of this free program offline. To do this my idea is a simple one - locate the "downloaded" segments of the chapters on the hard drive and store them on a USB flash drive that can be plugged into the computer, so we can continue to access the "downloaded" chapters whenever we want (online or offline) yet at the same time clear up space on the hard drive so that more chapters can be downloaded.

problem is no matter how hard I look I cannot find the location of these files on the hard drive.

you can try this for yourself.

(2) open the "stories" program and play a story (eg Zac the Rat)

So I downloaded mkv file in Firefox, but instead of saving it I clicked open :xp:
So after the file got downloaded the video opened by itself. I tried saving the video but it crashed while saving it.
So can I find the backed up video somewhere on my C-drive or is it deleted permanently?
I am using Win XP-SP3.

A:Can I find my downloaded files?

The file is in a hidden Temporary Internet File, looking for it would be like looking for a needle in a hay stack. You can go to Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/View put a check box in Show Hidden Files and Folders, and uncheck Hide extensions for known programs. Then do a Search for *.MKV files making sure you search for Hidden Files.
It would be far easier and faster to just re-download the file.

I got my high speed internet bill with an extra charge for usage over 10,000mb (15K) I didnt download anything, one roomate sais he download a few albums and the other sais he didnt download anything. So is there anyway I can find out how much each computer downloaded? All run XP home edition.

Thanks in advance

A:Can I Find Out How Much A Computer Downloaded

There's no easy way to do this without installing monitoring software on each system (and then scanning the logs on a regular basis) - and this won't help with problems gone by.

I'd suggest upping the rent of each roommate to cover the extra charges.

Saved some files to folder I have in Program Files but when I go there, the files are not there.

But if I try to download something else to the folder, the files I have previously downloaded show up in the list of things in there. It's like they're invisible except that folder is set to show all hidden files. They don't show up in search results either.
Someone told me Windows 7 defaults to a download folder in your user profile in documents but I've searched there and found nothing.

I downloaded and .xls file from my email, worked on the file and then clicked save. I did not save as. I cannot find this document anywhere. I tried downloading it again to save it to see where it would go but it says sharing violation (presumably because the folder it is being saved in already has the file). My assumption is it is in some temporary file somewhere (though why I can't access it under recent files I have no clue).
Can someone please tell me where to look for this file, I have tried searching on the name but no avail.

For any malware, spyware, virus, trojan, etc, is it possible to find the website is was downloaded from? I know you can find the location it was downloaded to on your computer using most ecurity software, but I would like to know a website's name so I could potentially block it or take precautions to avoid it.

Would this be possible, and if so, what would be required?

Thank you anyone for your help.

A:Is there a way to find the website a virus was downloaded from?

It may be difficult to find out where a past virus is from, but you can test websites and individual folders, for future use, to test if there are potential problems.
If you have a list of recent site visits, which may have given you a virus, you can test each

This has happened twice: I downloaded a large file (696 mg) and saved it to the CD-ROM. When it was done downloading I went to the drive and clicked "Write these files to the CD". After it finished writing and ejected the CD, I put it back in and opened the drive and nothing was there. On the left side where it shows how much space is left it says, "Used space 0 bytes"
and "Free space 0 bytes". If I try to write to it again it won't let me and I have to use a different CD. How can this be? And why isn't my file there? Am I doing something wrong? I have Windows XP and Internet Explorer 7. The CDs are Sony rewriteables. Thanks!

A:Can't find downloaded files in Vista

Vista downloads some files to the virtual store to prevent access to the core operating system. It is located here:

(Appdata is a hidden file, so you must select show hidden files.)

Also, there may be a Compatibiliy files tab in the folder you downloaded to and this will take you to the virtual store as well.

What are the file types (file extensions) of the ones that work normally, eg mp4 mov or whatever? Were the non-working ones the same file type? The Windows search is worse than useless. Download SwiftSearch from here: only are the results immediate but it finds them all. Your best bet is to do a search for all the videos of the appropriate file type. To do this you put *. (that's star dot) in front of the file extension, which should find all those videos of that type. For example if you put *.mp4 it will find all the mp4's. Apologies if you already know this sort of stuff. After that apart from Recuva I'm getting short of ideas.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

A:i downloaded real player and it can't find rvplayer.exe.

Hi again, girl. I'm going to explain a scenario to you so that you'll understand what PROBABLY happened to you.

I decide I'm going to download a program or something on the internet pops up and says to me "you should have this program, would you like to download it now?" I say ok. It asks me where I want to put the file and I put it on my Desktop.

Often, this does NOT install the program, it just gives me a file that WILL install the program if I double-click it.

More than likely, all you need to do is go find the file that you downloaded and double-click it. If you can't find it, act like you want to download it again and it'll ask you where you want to put it and it will give you the name of the file. Just hit escape so you don't have to download it again. Hit Start-Find-Files or folders and type the name of the file in to find it. Once you find it, double-click it. That should install it. Then play your movie.

A:How do i find downloaded shareware file on my computer?

Usually there is a download folder for each user... Have you looked there?Alternatively, if you know the file name, search for it via Explorer or whatever the win-10 equivalent is? Or search for file type at least?

Help, please!! I just tried to burn videos from my handycam by downloading to the computer. However, I forgot that I didn't have the Sony handycam software installed. Now I can't find the movies and they've been deleted automatically from the handycam. Is there anything I can do?? I've already searched all over the computer trying to find the videos. Any help much appreciated!

New Info: Just found the files under "Dropbox" but can't open them. Any hints??

OK, so I downloaded a Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) file from my Yahoo! mail account. I opted to open the file, as opposed to saving it to my hard drive. I worked on the file for a long time, saving it many times. The problem is that I never clicked "Save As...", I just clicked the disk icon to Save.

Now, I cannot find the file. Where did I save it?

Please HELP as I have put over 5 hours into the project, and I don't want to start over.

A:Can't find file - Downloaded from Yahoo mail

Did you try doing a search of Windows for *.xlsx files? If you don't locate it using that search item, try adding "When was it modified" for the date you were "saving" it.

The download box gave no choice of where to send the download--just said "C:\Documents~ \Hoyle Card Games," and I couldn't expand it to find out where the setup program is. Windows "Search" function couldn't find anything, although the smaller program I had to use to download the game demo was sitting right there inside a folder on my desktop. Maybe something is wrong with Search, but I have no idea how to fix it.
Every time I clicked on the "fetch" icon for this program, hoping to find a way to see where the setup files had been downloaded to, I got the message that they were being "extracted," but before the extraction (and to where?!) could be completed, my computer hung and I had to press the on/off button to turn it off, so I really want to get rid of this file. Of course, it is not listed in Add Remove or among my program files, so I have no access to its Uninstall. It is supposedly taking up 510.15MB of my hard disk somewhere. I used System Restore to go back a day to before I had anything to do with Hoyle Card Games, and now that original "fetch" icon is gone, but presumably the thing is still eating up space.
I am really disgusted. Can anyone please help?

I have an HP Pavilion P6000 with windows 7. I also have picassa downloaded. I took my memory stick from my camera, and put it in my computer. A window popped up saying and showing the downloading of my pictures, and I (like an idiot) checked the delete after copying button. NOW, I can't find my pictures anywhere. I've searched jpeg files, picassa, C: drive, dcim, and other areas that I really don't know what I was looking at. I am not extremely computer saavy, so I am frantic to find my pics!

I'm also surprised that I received no prompt to save them in a certain folder etc. I'd like to make that an automatic setting that I get prompted, but I don't know how. FOR NOW, please, please, please can you help me find my pictures?

Thank you so much!

I recently sent my laptop to HP for a fan repair and before I sent it off I accidentally deleted my Downloads folder and then cleared out my recycling bin. Well, I got my laptop back today and went to download a few files. After doing so, I realized that I can't find those downloaded files.

I have no idea where those files went. They were .rar and ZIP files and I can't seem to locate them. Does anybody know how I can find those downloaded files (where they might have ended up with the Downloads folder gone) and how I can restore my Downloads folder?

Yesterday my Critical Updates said MS Malicious Software Removal Tool was available for I got it and installed it I want to give it a try, but I can't find it! There are only two references to it on my computer (I searched for it by name and by Critical Update number). One is in the C: Windows>Downloaded Software Distribution> Install folder, it says that's a CAB file, it is an exe -? Is that it? (and if it is, why is it squirreled away where no one would ever find it?) The other is in the PF folder. The MS site says "it can be downloaded, installed and run manually from your computer." Except I can't find it. It's available to run online at MS, but I downloaded and installed it, so it's not that, is it? Where is the one I downloaded and how do I run it?
Also - the site says this:
The first time that you download and run the tool by using Windows Update or Automatic Updates, you must accept a specific end user license agreement (EULA). The EULA is displayed when you log on as a member of the Administrators group and then access Automatic Updates or the Windows Update site.
But nothing like that popped up after it installed.

Hi all,
I'm trying to use the "find" function to find IP addresses in the message body (not header). Outlook won't find them. We get emails containing multiple IP addresses listed in the message body. We'd like to search through all emails received to find specific emails that contain specific IP addresses. So far, it hasn't worked.

I've tried the advanced option but again, nothing is returned.

I've tried using quotes around the IP address but that didn't work.

I've tried using "and" between the numbers but that didn't work.

Why can't I find IP addresses in the message body? If I open one specific email and try "find", it works. When I try "find" from the main Outlook panel, nothing is returned.

McAfee Security Center came with my new computer, which I got a couple of months ago. For a while, it worked fine. Or didn't. My computer was still kinda slow, but whatever. Now, (and for some time now, actually), it's asking for a subscription verification. But no one subscribed to it, it came with the computer. Pre-installed, ... So we can't verify our subscription. And we can't uninstall it. The McAfee folder in Start>All Programs doesn't have an uninstall option, and when I go to Add/Remove Programs, the only thing with McAfee in the name is, funnily enough, McAfee Uninstaller. I love the irony. It just tickles.I can't reinstall it, because when I try, it says "Newer version present; uninstall to proceed, then restart computer" or something. In any case, it leads to squat, and the McAfee website offers bleep for help.I can't install something else, because you can't have two anti-virus programs working at the same time, so my computer is open to who knows what kinds of crap. So, yeah. I'm gonna go buy some beef. Lots of beef. bleeploads of beef, and everytime I slap a motherbleeper, a dead cow gets its wings.

This is why you do not use third-party software when Windows already as the means to protect your files. Who knows what mayhem "Folder Lock" caused when it crashed. It probably corrupted your data thus it is now gone.

I just reinstalled xp on my computer, and I have the following videocard...

Nvidia Corp GeForce 6100 nForce 430

I've looked at every driver/software site I know, as well as I've tried several well known auto scan softwares, as well as nvidia's forceware, which is SUPPOSED to scan my computer for known nvidia cards (which i know for a fact that i have, i've seen it myself), but it says it can't detect anything. Once again, the videocard is a geforce 6100/nforce 430.

This is the second time I've had to reinstall, and I'm having such bad luck it feels like every time I try to do something, everything is working against me. If someone out there could help me out, it would really make my week.

Thanks in advance.

A:I can't find a specific video card driver, where can I find it?

Is this onboard Video? A little about your computer might also help. Is it running an Nvidia chipset? Is it a name brand such as an HP or Compaq? If so manufacturer and model number would also help. I have the same Video Chip in my Compaq and the video drivers are available on the Nvidia website.

There. GTS250. AKA another renamed card by nvidia. AKA 9800 GTX+. Just happened to see it while searching for the best price of a GTX260 here, and was all ", I haven't heard of this card before... And it isn't on newegg or TD." Googled, and it's just a 9800 gtx+, so I'm not buying it, although seems a nice card for anyone who needs that level of a card (no point spending money for no upgrade in my case)... It's shorter than the 9800 GTX+ too, and only requires one 6-pin PCIE power cord, so looks really nice. Not at all one of those 9800 GT "new cards".

I have two machines on which I run Outlook 2003 and frequently use the Find feature to locate a specific email within a folder. However I notice that on one of the machines I can find any text string that I want just using the Find button and then entering the required text/numbers in the 'Look For' box, but on the other machine if I search for a number string no results are found. I have checked that I am entering the correct number string and have even tested it out by copying a pasting a number string from one of the emails in the folder into the 'Look For' box, but the search still doesn't bring back any results. I note also that whenever I run this sort of search on the failing machine the search completes very quickly wheras when I run the same search on the successful machine the search takes a little while to complete.

Any ideas how I can resolve this - it seems illogical to me that a search on a text string is successful but that a search on a number string is not as I assumed that all text/numbers are treated as text within the search function.

Many thanks

Hi all,
I recall being able to add the "find and replace" option to OE a while back. I think it was linked somehow to Microsoft Word or Notepad which has this option. I would like to remove (<<) from forwarded emails directly in OE rather than having to cut and paste to notepad and remove the (<<). I know my old imac's OE had an option to "clean up text" or simular which removed all the quotes. I don't see this in todays OE for XP though.

I do recall there being a tweak that added this function though.
Thanks in advance,

A:Outlook Express Edit>find>(find And Replace?)

I've never noticed that option, in OE.Just a suggestion, but I find StripMail to be faster, than using Word.StripMail is a FREEWARE utility that: * Strips the characters ">" and "|" from forwarded e-mails. * Formats the text into paragraphs, making it easier to read. * Changes the text's right margin, by indenting. * Can be used with any e-mail client.

The issue is that explorer is not listing my folders and data files (e.g. ..user/Chris Oneil/documents etc). I am using vista home version on a HP Pavilion DV6700

My original login was chrismia94 and later I renamed this login to Chris Oneil

I noticed after that procedure that the file path continued to use chrismia94 for example /user/chrismia94/documents.

Explorer worked fine and always found my folders and data files.

Last week I was attacked with AV security virus. I had to go into the registries to remove it.

When I rebooted the box, I noticed that many folders and data files no longer appeared in explorer although a few folders did remain. However, using MS-DOS I can find all of them if I can remember the exact path name. For instance when I am in a folder called /user/chrismia94/documents and type dir it turns up nothing. However if I type /user/chrismia94/documents/job-search it does find the folder. Using Search finds all my files via a *.doc or *.jpg etc.

Question: How do I get explorer to find them again?

A:Can't Find Folders and Flies with Explorer but I can find them using MS DOS

Give this a try. If the problem was caused by registry change, go back a week before the the virus was in your system and do this. Works on either 7 or Vista

First off, I just want to say that this is a fantastic site with a great, helpful community. It has helped me solve several computer related issues and has saved me lots of time.

Here goes my problem:

I've noticed that lately my desktop and my laptop are having issues going to any website ending in .com ( The browser will sit there and load for a minute or 2, then it will say that it can't find the server. However, when I go to any website ending in .edu (i.e. the site comes up rather quickly as it should. I just noticed this in the last couple of days and I just recently installed Norton 360 on both. Could this be causing the issue?

Could it be my ISP? router? I don't really seem to notice this issue when I take my laptop on campus and use my college's internet. But I've only used it on campus once so far this quarter, I might have gotten lucky. It doesn't seem to have this problem all of the time as well. Sometimes if I reset my router it helps.... I'm a complete loss on this issue. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help in advance.

- Mike

A:Unable to find .com servers, but can find .edu just fine...

Hi Mike,

Your problem seems to be in your firewall settings.
Temporarily disabling your firewall, and testing, should show .com sites load without error.

As you are a student, it is possible that the Admin who set up your computer has place restrictions on your user account.
Therefore creating a new Administrator user account should fix those issues, but you may need to approach your computer technical staff at uni (?) and confirm with them first. ie you do not want to upset any user network settings made by your school for you.

If they are still present, then download MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and while you are there grab the RogueRemoverFree as well. FileASSASSIN is under More Tools in Anti-Malware, and can actually delete the files while in use. Run that if the files wont delete or keep showing up in HJT. Make sure you update MalwareBytes before you do a full scan

Hello. I downloaded the new sp3 update yesterday and followed all the instructions and i was ready to restart my computer. When i did, everything went fine until after the loading screen it gave me a blue error screen. Since i needed the computer in working order, I used a pc recovery tool (pressed F10 when it started up) and did a non-destructive recovery which took about 20 minutes. Then after that was done i had to restart and do the windows first start up thing. Then i finally finished and saw that all of my custom features and files were no where to be found! All my applications and games that i downloaded are still in shape, but all of the custom features (like background, WMP playlists, Updates) were all gone. so is there any whay which i can restore my old settings? I need to have all my original settings as soon as i can please .

A:I really need help, downloaded SP3...

Hi cloud366, it sounds like you have done a repair install. When you pressed F10, did you choose Last Known Good Configuration from the boot menu?

Also, check in C:\Documents and Settings for a duplicate profile. It could be that your original profile has corrupted and Windows built you a new one.

All those type of "custom features" live in your local profile.

I took advantage of the student offer of Windows 7 and last night downloaded windows 7. I thought that because my laptop was 64 bit capable I could do a clean install to it from the download, which I now obviously realise was a mistake.

Does anyone know how I can change this download for a 32 bit version?

A:Downloaded 64 bit but need 32 bit

Why can't you install 64bit? Have you tried and got an error?

system running : windows XP professional with sp3

okay, as the title implies, while surfing the internet a tab appeared in the firefox window that said "Updating..." but never showed/displayed anything. After that, I noticed the windows start/tool bar had changed from the XP theme version to the classic version. Then i noticed that there was no network connectivity. When I tried to look up what was wrong, the properties, rename, and delete options have been disabled from the right-click menu.
I received a message that there was attempt to update registry but whatever was done was restored, then my PC reboot.
what I've done so far:
I tried to boot using the windows xp CD but nothing happens. Windows eventually boots up, but I don't get any options to run repair or anything.
Used CA anti-virus for scan and found nothing (did this again in safe mode and still found nothing)
I did a search to see if I could find what was modified, it shows that all user accounts including a Helpassist?? account have been updated in some form or fashion so i don't know what else to do

I see svchost.exe, services.exe, and system taking up 50% of CPU occasionally but not sure what to make of that.

to get the internet started I tried to turn on some network services but all failed due to 'timeout'

Please let me know any ideas, or how to get started on trying to fix this problem.

other pcs are connected to the internet just fine.

A:pop up downloaded something

any ideas? anyone? a starting point?

Is there any utility that will tell me after the fact who downloaded anything to me? In my case, it's probably an update of some kind. But it has already happened because I see in Networx > General > Today that sometime this morning about 600 mb was downloaded to my computer. Is there any record of the source of this download in Win7, Firefox or some utility I can use to discover today's download, and to maintain a log in the future?

Even when I am not using any brower, email or any opther application, I notice that my lights on my modem are blinking quite fast... that is something is being downloded. It has been going on for quite sometime.

How do I find out what is being downloded (or uploaded)?

I use

MS office 2010
Internet secuirity (antivirus, etc ...) from Bell
Thank you very much

A:How do I know what is being downloaded?

And you have no browser open? And check for new email only infrequently?

You could try disconnecting from the modem and see if any program complains.

In Network Connections right click on your connection and select Status. Watch the Bytes sent and received to get an idea of the upload vs download and how much.

32bit will only see 4gigs of ram and usually only be able to use abt 3.3 its also a bit slower depending on how you use it. when changing from one OS format (32bit) to another (64bit) it has to be a clean install.

Now about restoring you may have a backup there and available but since you are 32 bit and it isnt you cant use it. If you were to reinstall vista 64 it probably be available

Hello and welcome to BleepingComputer I don't see any malware there. Some points:Do you have a bought license for Norton? Or did you get it for free? The reason I'm asking is, it's a really heavy app for an antivirus. You can install a better antivirus that's waaaay lighter and easier for the computer, and takes less ram and actually is more efficient too.So, I recommend uninstalling Symantec's products and installing AntiVir (That's the promotion license for AntiVir Premium -- 6 months for free. You can get their free edition here) or Avast! instead.Another valid point: when did you install Service Pack 3? There has been several flaws with it.. Some people have really bad problems with SP3, I seem to be one of the lucky ones with no issues. Did you notice the problems after installing it?Also have a read through THIS TOPIC.Finally.....Click Start >> Run and paste in:"%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /daftClick OK.Click OK to the prompt from Deckard's System Scanner.Click Scan.Checkmark every entry found.Click Fix.Let me know how you get on.

OK! Once again.. Greetings to people of this forum and you that is currently reading.
I have downloaded all the updates for Win 7 Ultimate 64bit.. Which I am now down to SP1. I am wondering.. Once that update is done downloading and is installed. Would that file be automatically deleted or is it still somewhere in the computer? If so it is still there.. Where is the directory of that downloaded update? *Not the directory where the update is installed*

I ask this question due to my Drive C is running low in memory
Used 34.7
Free 14.0
Capacity 48.8

A:Updates downloaded

To be technically accurate, your system's Hard Drive is running out of Free Space. This has nothing to do with the system's memory, NeroLigerzid.

SP1 will be found in a randomly named subfolder of Windows\SoftwareDistrbution\Download <--
This article states that SP1 requires slightly over 1 GB of Free Space for the x64 SP1 installation package obtained from Windows Update - Learn how to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1

Since you state you have "downloaded all the updates for Win 7 Ultimate 64bit", suggest you restart the system to first ensure that all of them have installed, then delete the contents of the Download subfolder to reclaim some space. Then use the above article for a guide to reclaiming more space, if so desired.

After SP1 has been installed for awhile and you find that there are no issues associated with it's installation, then please see this Tutorial to reclaim more Free Space -

Downloaded new IE 9 yesterday. Click on IE 9 icon but IE 9 does not start. I read that one problem may be registry, missing files from older IE, or spyware, so saw using Hijack This as a possible option. I notice right at the start it states "MSIE: Unable to get Internet Explorer version!"

Thank you for any suggestions you can offer. I really appreciate your knowledge because I'd love to use IE 9.

Here is my log:

I have downloaded a pdf from a website. I am trying to find out when the website owner uploaded this document. All I can see from Sumatra - document properties is a creation date of October 1 2015. I first  saw this document on the website on October 13 2015. I am trying to find when exactly the document was uploaded to the web. How would I do that? Is it in fact technically possible?

A:How can I tell when a pdf I have downloaded from the web was uploaded to the web

You might try asking the website owner if they have a log from the website server showing when the file was uploaded.

Hi ..I have got some unique problem I would say. I have recently got a broadband connection. It's working perfect with everything apart from downloading software.I can download music, video, software(does not install). After the downloading the software when I try to install the softwares ,it sometime says corrupt file, some times says cannot extract or sometimes gives NSIS error. But When I use my laptop in my university network it works perfect with any software installation which I download. I tried the all way to make my service provider understand that there is no problem with my laptop as it's working prefect in other networks but they don't want to trust me. What to do. It will be highly appreciable to me if you could find out way.I am completely hopeless now

Many Thanks

A:Can't set up any software which I downloaded

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit).
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP (Home or Pro), SP1-SP2-SP3, Vista (Home, Business, Ultimate), etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.

Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms?
For wireless issues, have you disabled all encryption on the router to see if you can connect that way?
Have you connected directly to the broadband modem to see if this is a router or modem/ISP issue?
If there are other computers on the same network, are they experiencing the same issue, or do they function normally?

On any affected computer, I'd also like to see this:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

Type the following commands on separate lines, following each one with the Enter key:
