# Error 1610 ? Configuration data for this product is corrupt (Nero install)

Q: Error 1610 ? Configuration data for this product is corrupt (Nero install)

Help !!

I had to clean up my system, reapplying SP2. I tried to reinstall Nero 7 using same installation package that worked previously. I get this error:

"the configuration data for this product is corrupt, contact support personnel"

I installed Windows Installer 3.1 and still have this problem. I cleaned out all references to Nero in the registry... no luck.

A: Error 1610 ? Configuration data for this product is corrupt (Nero install)

Start button, Run, regedit

Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\INSTALLER

You need to look under the key Features. By examing each of the keys found here you will eventually find one that very clearly states it is for Nero and state the version.

Nero will have two entries. One under Features, and one under Products. For example, my Nero 7 UltraEdition used these two keys to store its configuration information:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Features\62E2F0A3CB0C8B04495AA6AF7BBA0133

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\62E2F0A3CB0C8B04495AA6AF7BBA0133

Your results are likely different only in the long number string portion at the end.

Delete the key under Features and under Products by right-cliking and choosing delete.

Reboot. Try the installation again.

"The configuration for this product is corrupt. Contact your support personel " appears after ( starting windows). It does not go any further to load my desktop. I only get the option to press ok, which then just causes the screen to go black for a few seconds before bringing mr back to the same screen. Not sure what to do, please advise.

I think I may have made a big mistake, I inadvertently manually deleted ACDSee Pro2 and now I keep getting a Windows Installer dialog box that reads: “The configuration data for this product is corrupt. Contact your support personnel” I believe I may have deleted something I should not have. I’ve downloaded Windows Installer 3.1 and that did not help. I can load(install) other programs with no problems, but I can’t reinstall ACDSee Pro2 .I’ve downloaded from different sites and still the same results.
Anybody have any Ideas I can try. Thanks

Windows 7 x64 system installed last week. All has gone well until a while ago...Adobe Acrobat downloaded an update and installed it, then asked to restart the machine.

At restart Windows quit and offered to restart normally or to repair itself. I let it try to repair itself, but it repeatedly failed, with the error:

*Boot configuration is corrupt.
Result: Failed. Error code=0x490*

In addition, I noticed that windows apparently is not finding the boot drive...looking at the repair log I saw:

System Disk=\Device\Harddisk\Windows directory-\\?\GLOBAL ROOT\Device\Harddisk1\Partition2\Windows

Windows appears to be looking at the wrong disk...it's installed on a new drive with only one partition. Using the Command Prompt option in the repair window, I could not access the *real* drive "C" (Drive 0), only Drive 1, which has two partitions for D and E.

Hiren's Boot CD running NTFS4DOS does not see drive 0 at all and also shows Drive 1, Partition 1 as drive C. Hiren's mini-WinXP shows a drive C designated as "System Reserved" - and shows Drive 1 as drives D and E on its partitions 1 and 2 respectively.

Mini-WinXP shows the otherwise elusive disk 0 as disk F.

I could sure use some ideas for a fix...I didn't have many to begin with and by now I'm down to none! Thanks in advance, if anyone can help.

I have installed Nero 6 (v6.3.0.0) on my computer running Windows Me.

I can listen to audio CD's, write audio CD's, copy from one data CD to another, and read software data from a CD.

But when I try to write data to a CD, the process starts but then hangs. My hard disk access light stays on all the time and the light on the CD drive flashes. After about 2 mins the Nero log tells me there is a timeout error.

Because the process doesn't go to normal end of job I don't get any log from the program.

The data I want to write are jpg files, but the same thing happens when I try to write a small Word document. I have tried it with and without my anti-virus, but it makes no difference. I tried creating a mixed disk of audio and data. The audio was written OK, but the data hung the system.

Any suggestions appreciated.

An error message appears while trying to burn data files onto a CD_R using Nero Express 5.5:

"Joliet names of these files (listed here in ISO-L3) are the same:
SOFTWARE.DOC
SOFTWAR2.DOC

Preparation of ISO9660 structures failed."

I can't locate the "SOFTWARE.DOC" files (???).

An Internet search of this problem turned up something about changing "bin file" locations (???) to correct the problem.

I had a spare CD burner and tried it to see if it is a hardware problem. Get the same error message with either burner.

The computer is running W98SE and is pretty well updated. There are no other problems evident. The CD burner has been in this computer for a couple of years with no trouble.

I ran "Hijack This" and found something called "LOADQM.EXE" which I removed, but it made no difference in the error message while trying to burn.

Any thoughts on this one?

I recently booted up my Gateway notebook only to find the "blue screen of death"

I rebooted and it came up to a windows boot manager screen which says windows failed to start..insert installation disc and click repair to fix...blah blah...i'm sure you know the story...

My question is, I booted the Vista disc and when I click repair it doesn't even find the C: drive...when I try and run the BCD fix from the command prompt screen, it says it found 0 Windows installations...would this indicate a faulty hard drive?? If so, I dont mind replacing the drive, I just wanna make sure this is the issue before I spend the money to replace it...

Much thanks for any help anyone can offer!

A:Boot Configuration Data Error

I'm not sure what BCD fix you tried, but see if it is this one and if not, try this one.

To run the Bootrec.exe tool, you must start Windows RE. To do this, follow these steps: (you need a Vista Installation Disk to do this)

1. Put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
2. Press a key when you are prompted.
3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.
5. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
6. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
7. Type Bootrec.exe, and then press ENTER.

Note If rebuilding the BCD does not resolve the startup issue, you can export and delete the BCD, and then run this option again. By doing this, you make sure that the BCD is completely rebuilt. To do this, type the following commands at the Windows RE command prompt:
 bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup
 c:
 cd boot
 attrib bcd -s -h -r
 ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old
bootrec /RebuildBcd

See if that works.

If you don't have the disk (or that didn't work), try EasyBCD http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1 and see if that helps resolve the problem.

If that doesn't work, you probably have some type of hardware problem - but it's hard to tell. It may be as simple as the hard drive cable got disconnected a... Read more

I have Windows XP Home, sp2. I recently had to repair Windows XP, and when I tried to use Quicken 2005, it didn't recognize it. So I tried to reinstall Quicken 2005, got it installed once, but it wouldn't let me set up my financial institution. So I uninstalled Quicken, did all the things Quicken said I should do, to clean out any leftover Quicken files on my hard drive and registry. I have been working with Quicken for two weeks now, to no avail. It keeps coming back with the error message #1610, after it starts to install Quicken. That error message is "configuration data is corrupt, etc." Yesterday Quicken's tech support called me and we tried again. They even gave me another Quicken 2005 to use in case my cd was defective, still same message. They said they have done all they could. that they felt it was a Microsoft problem. I went into Microsoft and searched for that error message and yes, it is a microsoft error message, they state that, but give no solution to solving it. So I wondered if you all have come accross this and know how I can fix whatever the problem is. Got to be something missing in my registry or something. I can install and have installed other programs, no problem. Just Quicken 2005. Help!! Need my quicken. Thanks. Josephine Hudson

If you have access to another Windows 7 computer create a System Repair Disk. Boot it and do a Startup Repair. It may take up to three attempts to fully do the repair. If you have 64bit then you would need to find a Windows 7 64bit computer.

Drive letters in WinPe will probably be different from what you see in windows - that is normal.

I would delete the bcd store and run the commands again. You should be pointing them at the reserved system partition .

Otherwise, at cmd prompt, type:

Hi all, im getting that message upon startup. Im running windows 7.
It requests for the windows recovery CD to be inserted, so when I put the CD in to boot I get a "windows is loading files" then a starting windows with the windows logo then just a black screen with a cursor, I left it like this several times for at least an hour an nothing happened.
I can't press F8 to access safe mode etc, nothing will happen.
Pressing F12 to boot from CD just does the same thing as putting the CD in normally.

A:An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data

It seems the CD is damaged.
Burn a new Windows 7 Recovery CD on another computer.
You can download the image or make a copy of a functional Windows 7 Recovery CD.

Boot the new Recovery CD and run automatic StartUp Repair up to three times as sugested in the forum manuals !

Good luck!

Hi

This is the full error message I encountered--> An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data File: \Boot\BCD

1) I have an old Dell Vostro 410, Windows Vista, configured to RAID 1 the whole time.

2) I wasn't able to boot it up one day, pressing the on button only got an amber light momentarily. From the symptom,  I replaced the CMOS battery as suggested by someone online and the PC was able to be powered up but it got to a blue screen--> https://www.dropbox.com/s/nyeoq0gwz4i3f2b/2013-12-21%2000.44.17.jpg

3) I realized that's because all the settings on BIOS has been wiped out after I took out the old battery, the "SATA mode" in BIOS was set to IDE instead of RAID, so I set it back to RAID as shown--> https://www.dropbox.com/s/u6oxdg8m092v0vr/2013-12-23%2000.01.31.jpg

4) I tried rebooting the the system again, this time I can see that RAID has been setup accordingly-->  https://www.dropbox.com/s/a708qln2oehrm75/2013-12-23%2000.03.57.jpg   and  https://www.dropbox.com/s/1sfrpfrxtkgke2n/2013-12-22%2023.58.37.jpg

5) But the rebooting was terminated with the message "an error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data" --> https://www.dropbox.com/s/orgkn29qaj0nxsb/2013-12-22%2017.48.20.jpg

6) Following the on screen instruction, I tried booting from "Windows installation" CD to repair it, however after pressing a key on the following screen,... Read more

This is the error message that my computer had:

I made a recovery drive and set the UEFI to a USB boot, and when I tried to boot it with a blank USB it didnt recognize it, but when I used the recovery usb it recognized it. I did that to check and see if it actually recognized the recovery data.
Now when I boot it just has the Lenovo screen and the swirling dots. it's been doing this for about a half hour. Is this normal or is there an issued with the hatdware?

A:Boot Configuration Data is missing, Error Code 0xc0000185

The Error code: 0xc0000185 is an I/O error.
This can be a hardware problem or a software problem.
So the first thing to do is to run diagnostics on the hard drive ( http://www.carrona.org/hddiag.html )

If you have difficulties booting to the disk/drive, post back and we'll see about changing some settings in the UEFI to allow the boot.
I'm working on a drive that will do this for you, but it's still in the testing phase (and it's a 700+ mB download).

If the drive is dead/dying, you may have problems trying to recover your data.
Do you have a recent backup?  If not, post back for suggestions on how to best backup your information.

FYI - if it is dying, then it's best not to use the drive at all until you've done the backup.
If the drive does die fully, then data recovery gets very expensive (up to $2000 (US)) if it's even possible. 0 more replies Answer Match 60.48% Hi everyone, I tried to install new updates of Ableton live and the machine crashed badly... and since them it has really gone a bit wonky. On the same PC (Win XP Pro SP2), I got the errors using two different burners (an HP and a Sony) and trying both a DVD/RW and a DVD/R. FYI, I use Shadow Copy for the burn, the burn process completes without error every time (i.e. - the error only occurs during verification), and I have burned to the DVD/RW many times before without incident. More generally, I didn't get data verification errors before so I am wondering why I might be getting them now. Also, could someone tell me what, exactly, "Sector NNNNNN on disc has different content to source" means? I assume it means that the source and target files are not matching in some cases. More importantly, is it a big deal? I ran the ScanDisc in Nero CD-DVD Speed and both DVDs had 100% good sectors (0% damaged or bad). Nero log file attached. I have a previous version on this PC. When I try to install, it fails with Error 1158 (see screenshot). I have tried several things that have been suggested from doing a google search for this problem, such as running as Administrator and starting as "diagnostic startup" and I still get the same error. I tried installing it by starting Win 7 in Safe Mode (with and without networking) and it tries to install but one of the add ons that it needs (Microsoft XML 4.0 SP3) will not install in safe mode so it aborts. I tried installing this on my Win 8.1 system and it installed without problems. The Win 8.1 was the full install, not a diagnostic startup, etc. I posted on the Nero forum but what was suggested there did not help. My Win 7 system is relatively clean as I do not have a lot of startups. I do not have Skype or anything similar. I have MSE and Malwarebytes. Computer: Dell Inspiron 1525, 320 GB HD with about 2 GB of free space left, 4 MB memory, running Vista Home Premium 32-Bit, SP1, updates current. Just lately, booting from off, Windows will not load, but instead gives me a \Boot\BCD error (0xc00000f)--an error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data. I have repaired this error with my Dell-supplied OS disc repeatedly, and each time I turn off the computer it has the same error at startup. I have read that I may have to rebuild the BCD, but I don't know how to do that. Before I check with Dell, who I suspect will just tell me to reload Windows, I need to know how approach fixing my boot configuration data. The computer has had no new software installations, just routine Windows and Trend Micro Internet Security updates, I checked the disc for errors, and a few files were missing or incorrect, and defragmentation has also been performed routinely. Dell PC checkup finds no issues. How should I proceed?

I allow my computer to remain 'on' at all times.

Yesterday, after using it early in the morning, when I returned to use it later in the day, I was unable to get it out of the 'sleep' mode.

Since I don't have a reboot button on my computer, I had to remove the cord from the rear of the compter to shut it down.

After waiting a minute or so, I replugged the cord and turned on the computer.

User Environment:

"Windows cannot find the user's profile but has logged you on with the default profile for the system."

The following message then appeared before the computer was completely rebooted and ready for use:

"The configuration registry data base is corrupt."

However, I was able to 'get online'......

I also learned this:

After using my computer, if I returned to it for use within 15 minutes or so, I was able to 'arouse it from sleep' with no trouble. Yet, if I allowed longer periods of time to elapse between uses, I could not get it out of the 'sleep' mode. I had to remove the power cord from the back of the computer.

I permitted the computer to remain 'on' over night (last night). This morning I was unable to get it out of the 'sleep' mode. Again, I had to shut it down by removing the power cord from the back of the computer.

When I repluged the computer and turned it on, I received the following message:

This has been occurring nightly and if I leave my computer on overnight(which is my normal procedure), I cannot 'wakeup' the monitor and have to force a shutdown and reboot when installed updates are removed and it is like groundhog day the next day. I bought a product Reimage that is advertised to fix this issue, but I could find nothing changed after I ran it. Does anyone have a solution?

Hey there,

I'm running XP Home SP2 and the other day I got the following error while Windows was loading:

Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the default profile for the system.

DETAIL - The configuration registry database is corrupt.
The error message would count down from 30 seconds and then proceed to loading windows. However the task bar won't work properly; Pressing the windows key would open/close the Start menu, and it stays blank not showing any programs that are running [e.g. MS Word] Things like drag and drop don't work when I try to move icons across the Desktop.

So far I've tried to use the System Restore to go back to when it worked, however I get this message in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode:

System Restore is not able to protect your computer. Please restart your computer, and then run System Restore again.

I've also tried booting up in safe mode and deleting the ntuser.dat for the corrupt User Profile. However this didn't help to fix it so I'd tried restoring the file but it won't move from the Recycle Bin, not even by copy and paste. I've gone into Control Panel and tried to create a new User Profile, so I could just copy all my files from the corrupt profile into the new one. However the User Accounts window just appears as blank, I've included a screen shot below:

Is there any other I can go about making a new Profile, or even another method I can do... Read more

Just started using a new workstation with Office 2010 installed by OEM. Everything worked fine for a few days, and then every time i attempt to open a Word file or Excel file i get the MS Office dialog box that states "please wait while windows configures Microsoft Office 2010". The dialog box stays visible for 30-45 seconds and then the program opens and works fine.

Ran a repair, four times, didn't fix it.

All of my research leads me to a solution of uninstalling and re-installing. I'm not buying that if everything worked fine for several days, that a bad install will make the program stop functioning properly.

I also noticed, while visiting help within outlook, that the product was still a trial version and not currently activated. I have entered the activation code numerous times with no luck.

Any suggestions? This is becoming extremely inefficient.

A:Office 2010 runs product configuration when opening Word and Excel

Right click the Word or Excel icon and select Run as administrator.
This should allow the proper configuration to be written to the system and you should not have to do it again.

Hello sir,
this is moksha, ihave a problem i.e.,when i start my computer is showing the msg of user environment -the configuration registry database is corrupt and the windows cannot load the users profile but has logged on wih a temporary profile...
i can't understand what it is meant by and what to do? please ,send me the reply as soon as possible.
thanking you,
your's faithfully,
moksha.

A:Solved: The configuration registry database is corrupt

Your user profile is part of your user account, it is damaged, so windows loads a temporary profile for that user account, so it can l;oad the desktop and make the PC somewhat useable.

If it is XP home, boot the PC into safe mode, then go to Control Panel>Users

Create a new user account and give it administrator priveledges. This needs to be done before doing anything else, it is important.

Once the new account is created, restart the PC and log into the new account, once it logs in and creates the new user profile and loads the desktop (may take some time) restart the PC in "Safe mode with comand prompt"

Once safe mode is loaded, there will be a black command prompt open, type the following red text into the cmd window and hit enter key, this will start the system restore process, pick a date Before the problem started hopefully this will repair the corrupt user account.

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

Once this restore process is done, restart the PC, log into the old user account, see if will load. If it is good now, you are done.

We are getting the above error randomly on some of the laptops we have deployed. The error comes right after you boot or when the windows 7 is left running. There are no special software running. The error in details is below.
"The boot configuration Data (BCD) settings for the following boot application have changed since Bitlocker was enabled
change settings: 0x26000090
You must supply a bitlocker recovery key to start this system.
Confirm that the changes to the BCD settings are trusted.

If the changes are trusted then suspend and resume bitlocker. This will reset bitlocker to use the new BCD settings.
Otherwise restore the original BCD settings"

Can anyone please explain on how to correct this error. As before this is happening on few of the machines and we are seeing more as we go. Any tips would be nice...Thanks

I am getting the : "Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM" error message and have tried to initiate the Recovery Consule. I have the XP CD to reboot from disc and have followed the steps, hit "R" for repair, but when it asks which installation I want to use I can't get any farther. There is only one option showing "1: C:\WINDOWS" and when I hit "1" and Enter, all I get is another C:\WINDOWS prompt - it doesn't go to the next step of asking for the password or allowing me to start the recovery process. First, make sure your burner supports overburning and CD sizes up to 800MB.

Enable overburning in Nero setup and set the limit to 99 minutes.

Hello,
I don't know if this new version of nero has some kind of a built in compressor, but every time I try to burn a data file that is 414 MB in size, when I move it to the new compilation window it turns into a file that is 395 MB in size. What's the deal? I hav not tried yet to actually burn the file to see if it works as it should because I'm down to my last 2 disks and am prcastinating going to the store to get more. Anyone have any idea what might be happening?? Thanks in advance!

Hi guys. I recently burned some files onto a few CD/RW discs for transferring from one PC to another, using Nero. Later I tried to use the discs again for more data. 1st I got the "disc is full do you want to erase existing data" message. Clicked yes, Nero appeared to erase stuff, but whenever I try to use any of the discs for fresh stuff now, I keep getting the damn "disc is full" message even though I thought I'd deleted the stuff. I am using Nero BackItUp 2.0.0.0 (Nero Ultra 7) and have been receiving "data verification failed" and "Sector **** on disc has different content to source" errors recently. On the same PC , I got the errors using two different burners, with 2 different brands of media.

I used Shadow Copy for the burn, the burn process completes without error,(i.e. - the error only occurs during verification), and I have burned to the DVD/RW many times before without incident.

I didn't get data verification errors before, so I am wondering why I might be getting them now. Could someone tell me what, exactly, "Sector **** on disc has different content to source" means, as well help me solve this problem. I ran the ScanDisc in Nero CD-DVD Speed and both DVDs had 100% good sectors.

I make a DVD video from Nero Vision Express.

An use Nero Burn Rom to burn the DVD.

When I use data verification I get errors quite often.

Is it that poor video quality files will cause this ?
Is there anything to be concerned about ?

Because the DVD videos plays ok on my DVD player.

Thanks

A:Nero Burn Rom- data verification

Always use name brand DVD blanks (Sony, TDK, Verbatim etc) and not generic or no name brands. Always burn at the slowest possible speed for the blank media. Make sure there are no other processes going on in the background during the burning phase (eg) Screen Saver, other applications, surfing internet etc. You can go to the DVD burner's manufacturers support page and download the latest firmware which will allow you to use a wider variety of blank discs.
A burn that doesn't pass verification, even if it plays on your player, may not play on every player.

I'm using Nero Express 6 to create a data disk of my My Documents folder. NE6 tells me it has successfully saved the data. I open Windows Explorer and ask it for the contents of the disk. Every file is listed. I ask Explorer to open a file, e.g. a Word Perfect file. WordPerfect appears on screen, and tells me the file I want to open is a read only file. I select YES to open it anyway. The hourglass appears, and stays. Cntrl+Alt-Delete opens the file manager which informs me that WordPerfect is no longer responding. If I ask MSWord to open a file, it too stops responding. If I ask Explorer to explore the file, it stops responding.
I worry that if my hard drive crashes, these disks will prove useless in restoring the My Documents file because the programs can't open the files. What am I doing wrong?

The cd-r's Im using are Verbatim 80min, which work just fine when burning audio cd's, although Ive only burned audio cd's in media player and have yet to try nero for burning audio cd's. In nero, Ive tried both, the data disk, and mp3 disk Icons. Both resulted in the same error message. Id really like to find out whats wrong, Thank You in advance.

some of the other messages I got were: could not perform endtrack, power calibration error, could not perform fixation, burn process failed.

I was on my PC, my dual boot failed, windows boot configuration data is now gone. A:Boot configuration data gone

Downloading Repair ISO which is small size file is illegal as per Microsoft. But you can download the ISO for Windows 8.1 Enterprise Evaluation, burn it to a blank DVD and then use it to repair your system. The file size is more than 3 GB.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hh771457.aspx

OR  Just ask one of your friends for their Windows 8 DVD and repair your system in a few minutes.

This is why you should create a repair disk the first time you boot your Windows computer.
