.inf file insufficient for monitor driver?

Q: .inf file insufficient for monitor driver?

Hi.

I have a new monitor (From Belinea). The manufacturers supply the .inf file and a couple of others (unsure if relevant: a .cat and .icm file). All now shoved on C drive now in a temp directory.

I run the "update device driver" and "install from a specific location". I chose the driver to install (a monitor), I "have disk" and tell it where to get the .inf file which I then click on to open.

All good so far.
"Please wait while the wizard installs this software.."

Then

"There was a problem installing this hardware Belinea xyz.."... "An error occcurred during the installation of the device, the system cannot find the file specified".

So that's it. When I look at the device manager list, the driver for the Belinea monitor has a yellow "!" mark over it, and by right clicking then "general" tells me that "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver."

So my driver is not installed. If I try reinstalling, the same happens.

So what's up?

Thanks,

Hi and Welcome to TSF

Have you searched on the manufacturers site for a driver?
Try placing the drivers on your desktop in a folder.

So here’s an annoying problem. I just picked up a new LCD monitor and now some games ctd with the message “insufficient resources.” Does anyone know if this is due to the DVI or is there some greater problem? The game was running fine on the old monitor but I haven't actually played it in a bout 6 months.

Last Fall I changed up to a 17" Monitor, made by Dell, used, and a the same time installed an SVGA card. I cannot get 256 bit color resolution nor can I get past 840 x 600 pixels with the Hardware Graphics Accelerator on high. The SVGA card came with its own software which I did install but I am wondering if there is a conflict with the differing driver software, like the Microsoft vs the Card software that is causing all this. Do I need a dedicated driver file for the Dell monitor and, if so, how do I get one without having to deal with Dell's cookie monster? Thanks in advance

A:Colour vs Monitor Driver File Issues

Since the video card was installed at the same time as the monitor, it is much more likely to be the source of the problem.

How much VRAM is on the card? A 1MB card will not be able to run more than 256 colors at any resolution higher than 800x600, for instance.

Hello everyone, I'm new here BTW, so if this is not the right place to post this feel free to correct my mistake by stating it.

My problem occurs when I am trying to transfer 2 files to my external hard drives. I recently purchased a 500 GB Trancend portable ehd because my 240 GB WD was not enough.

I have two of my games backed up in my computer as iso files, (they're DVD games each around 4 GB) Dawn of Magic and Fantasy Wars.

When I try to transfer these files to one of my hard drives, the computer gives an insufficient memory error. My laptop has 20.7 GB of free space (out of 93.1), my WD has 181 GB of free space and my Trancend has 244 GB of free space. And I did drop my WD on concrete a year ago but it was fine, I lost no files and it recently had 230 MB of free space so I don't think that drop incurred any memory loss. My Trancend is new so I don't think it might have any memory loss either.

Can anyone help me with my problem?

I have a batch file that . . .
1. reads a txt file that contains a list of filename prefixes.
2. drills down thru a folder tree looking for filesnames beginning with each of those prefixes.
3. copies (XCOPY) each matching file into a new folder tree (with matching subfolder structure).
It usually works great, but when searching a large tree of data with many subfolders, sub-subfolders and many files I get "insufficient memory" errors. I don't really understand what that means except that memory has not been "released". I get several of these errors.
I don't know if processing in OK to a certain point within the list of prefixes, and stops working (for the rest of the list) whenever an "insufficient memory" error occurs. Nor do I know the prefixes on which the errors occur.
Is there a way to prevent or recover from this problem? I assume it is related to the characteristics of the tree being searched.

Hey guys,

I've experienced a problem with my particular iTunes program in Windows 7. Whenever the iTunes program was running, it gives me an error stating in the form of a dialog(ue) box:

"The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. You do not have enough access priviges for this operation."

At first, I thought there was a virus that could have altered some files, but I've found out that my trusty 'ol AVG antivirus (free version 2012) that was doing a routine antivirus scan and that would have led into that error.

However, when I stopped the Antivirus scan - the error has simply gone away....

I was wondering how can I prevent this particular problem from re-occurring?

A:Windows 7: iTunes states that a "library file cannot be saved - insufficient rights"

it is scanning your library for nasties If you want to take a chance and if you are sure there will never be a nasty from something you may have downloaded and added to the library, you can exclude folders by using the "Scan specific files or folders" scan.

Question: How can I reactivate my monitor without reformatting the hard drive?
This is what happened:
Two monitors were hooked to my computer, (Dell Inspiration), and I had to reduce it into one monitor.

I opened: screen resolution
Clicked on: Advanced settings
Clicked on: Monitor
Clicked on: Driver
Clicked on: Disable

After I did that, one monitor became completely dark, and the second monitor display was if it would run in safe mode, (graphic quality was so bad, it hurt to my eyes to watch it). I checked the device list and both monitor was removed from the list, there were no monitor listed anymore (before they were there).
I tried the system restore, but after the system restore finished, there were no more connection with the monitor.
When I start the computer, the monitor works for few seconds, shows the start up process, and right after the windows logo displayed, it shuts off. I tried to reboot in "safe mode", and it starts up as usual, (the monitor works), but before it reaches the desktop screen, it shuts off.
Windows version is: Windows 7
Computer: DELL Inspiration 546s
Operating System: 64-bit
Processor: AMD

Thank you in advance for your help

If it is a Yellow Exclamation mark, then you need to download the video driver for your model. First try Right clicking the yellow mark and then Uninstall. Then Right click any device and choose Scan For Hardware Changes, this should reinstall the previous Video Driver, then restart the computer in normal mode.
If that doesn't work, Go to the Dell Support/Download drivers site Product Support | Dell US type in your service tag # or make and model# and download the Video driver for your model.

A:Monitor Driver

There is usually no need to ever install a monitor driver.

All a driver ever does is restrict the "visible" settings of a video card to those supported by the monitor, but setting the refresh rate and resolution to the native monitor settings will accomplish that much easier.

Do you have any special need to install the driver?

Only driver i need is one for my Optiquest Q-110 crt monitor. i tried all the drivers at theyre site stating 64-bit compatibily but i still get a message box saying that no such hardware is installed on my machine when i install the driver. Hi: I've been having an ongoing problem with either the monitor or the software.. but I can't tell which it is or what to do about it.

The contrast is all the way up, and the brightness is all the way down, but the images on the screen (especially on the web where it's most noticeable) don't look right at all, too bright, and details that shouldn't be showing up (like edges of black images on black backgrounds) show.

This is very annoying since I do a lot of web and graphics stuff. I've set Adobe gamma loader, but it didn't correct the problem either. I've reinstalled the drivers, but that hasn't worked either.

I have a Dell monitor. Drivers etc... Nvidia.

Any advice would be fantastic because this problem makes it nearly impossible to create graphics and be able to see and know what the true brightness, contrast, or even color is.

Thanks in advance.

A:Monitor or driver?

If your monitor is an the old side it could be the monitor itself. There are also settings for your video adapter that adjust contrast and brightness, accessed through desktop right click/properties/settings/advanced. Not sure if this will do more than the Adobe.

What website did you use?

When I go to Support - LG Electronics USA
and go to the download section and then list computer items and then displays
all I see are owner manuals and the like listed.

No drivers or software come up with any search there.

Makes me wonder what hole in the wall joint you found 'drivers' at..or
what super secret LG site hides such files.

EDIT.. oh, by the way , why are yyou looking for 'drivers' for your monitor anyway?
My LG monitor didnt' need any special 'driver' to work with Windows 7.
After doing some more searching I've yet to find any drivers of tis sort from LG offiial sites.
I do find LG Display 'drivers' at sites I personally would flag as highly suspect sites to download files from.
Good luck.

Hi All,
I have a problem with monitors not being recognized properly by Windows XP SP3. I cannot set their proper resolution and you have to "scroll" to be able to view your entire desktop.

This is not a hardware problem because I have this problem on two computers and with different screens (that work fine on other computers). This is not a manufacturer driver problem as this happens with nVidia and ATI graphic cards. And this does not seem to be a VGA/DVI problem as this happens whatever I use: DVI, DVItoVGA and even DPtoDVI... Also my computers have two cards (2x ATI or 2x nVidia) and if I swap my screens between the cards of a same computer, the same problem occurs (to the same screen).

It seems this is a problem with the association Monitor/Computer. It happened to me after I played around with the graphics cards and monitors (swapping monitors between graphics cards). Now, on the computers where I have this resolution problem, if I just swap the screen with a similar model it works without a reboot...
Do you happen to know if there are any ways to "flush" the monitor driver cache? I think this is where the issue is.

I have tried updating the monitor driver but it won't solve the problem. I have tried deleting the monitor driver within the Safe Mode, I also tried updating the driver with the manufacturer's or even by creating a custom driver from EDID data downloaded from another screen (with Phoenix and Moninfo)...but to no avail!

I have Vista Home Premium which continually tries to load drivers for my HPw1907s monitor but fails with the error mesage "access denied" when tries to install. I get the same message when I try a manual install. Thye monitor comes up as default PnP with wrong resolution each time I reboot. The only way to pick up the HP monitor and get the right resolution is to delete from device manager then the HP monitor is picked up but as "other device" and not as a monitor.
Can anyone help please? Thanks.

I've installed manufacturer monitor driver for Samsung SyncMaster 551s. Unfortunately, the driver (and monitor, according to Samsung) do not supports higher then 60Hz screen refresh rate at the desired screen resolution. On the contrary Plug’n Play “driver” allows 70Hz and finally better monitor performance.
I've uninstalled Samsung driver hoping that xp would install plug’n play driver, but of course it didn’t happen. So I deleted drivers files from their location and monitor driver finally was plug’n play driver. But every time I turn on computer xp is finding new hardware – syncmaster 551s and is looking for a driver.
How to force xp to “forget” monitor model?

A:unregister monitor driver

Hey,

Did you remove the drivers via device manager? If not, go to Start > Run > Type "devmgmt.msc" and click the + sign next to display adapters and right-click the item that is revealed when pressing the + sign, then click "uninstall".

Reboot the PC and see what happens.

I have a Gateway LT2106 netbook that I recently purchased. It came with Windows 7 starter. I bought Windows 7 pro and installed the 64 bit version.

Gateway does not have a video driver for 64 bit and the 32 bit refuses to install.

My system is currently using the generic PnP Monitor driver but the resolution will not go higher than 1024x768. This is an issue because all of my windows now have scroll bars for left and right. Grrrrrrr

Is there another generic driver that I can use to get a higher resolution? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I just reinstalled XP Home on my Dell Dimension 2350 using the included install disk. As always, after the reinstall the resolution is stuck at 640x480 until drivers are installed. Usually, I use the driver disk, but that is now broken, so I downloaded the appropriate driver from the Dell website and extracted it to the appropriate folder.

Now: The problem. Under Display Setttings Settings Monitor Advanced, Properties is disabled, and this is where all the instructions I have found tell me to go to install drivers. Can anyone help?

A second, milder problem is that my hard drive is identified as F:, likely due to me having a USB drive in during installation. Can I fix this using TweakUI?

Right click "My computer" and choose "properties".
Then click "Hardware" and "Device manager".
Under "Display adapter" there should be an Yellow exclamation mark.
Right click and choose "Update driver".
After that, choose "Advanced" and "Don't search,i will choose the driver to install".
Then direct to the folder where you downloaded the driver to.

The HDTV /Monitor that I'm setting up (LG M237WD) comes with a CD with the manual and driver, but it will not autorun. Windows offers to open it in a window, but when going to the driver folder, there are 3 files...M237.cat, M237.lcm and M237.inf. Going to the install option on the inf's context menu produces an error, saying that it can't be installed by this method. Going to the driver properties in the DM and selecting update and browsing to the driver folder, produces an error saying that the best driver is already installed.

I suspect that the next step would be to uninstall/install it in Safe Mode, but since it is already using the proper resolution and refresh rate, I'm wondering if there is really a need to bother. Would there be any difference between the manufacturer's driver and the native driver...other than possibly getting a better icon displaying in Devices and Printers?

In most cases, the default driver is sufficient. I have a HANNspree 23" monitor, and yes, there is a driver file for it. Any difference? Nope, just that Windows 7 now says it is a HANNspree monitor.

If the resolution and refresh rate are working for you, I don't see any advantage to loading in whatever it provides (other than the icon).

I came back from a weekend away. My monitor was all black, except I could see my arrow cursor when I moved my mouse. Keyboard functions did nothing. So, I restarted (hard restart by pushing in power button). Initially, everything was fine. But at the point where I should type in my password, all black, only able to see the cursor around a black screen.

I restarted again and went into safe mode. Works. Ran spybot and mcafee, removed some minor things, no virus detected. Now I'm in the process of backing up data in safe mode, ready to call it quits. I tried opening the restore center in safe mode, but it wouldn't start.

I'm running windows vista home premium, service pack 2.

I'm not keen on how to muck with driver info, or even how to test one component or that, or even how to find out if I hit an update while away. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

A:monitor (driver?) issue

Ok. So I rolled back my driver for my nvidia GeForce 6400 and I still had the same problem. I typed in my password at the black screen (assuming it was working) and logged in to my desktop (which took a lot longer than usual). None of my desktop icons load. No program can be started. Control alt delete gets me back to that black screen. I have to operate in safe mode to get anything.

Any ideas..

this is another posting i'm doing since nobody has replied yet. Here's the problem:

I have an old MAG monitor which is the PMV 1448. I can't find the driver anywhere...i've looked in the MAG INNOVISION website( two other MAG websites which i can't remember..), driverguide.com, other driver websites, etc. ...can't seem to find it. I've been using the driver for a PMV 14SV which works well but it won' t go to a 800x600 resolution which is the standard resolution for games, even for pop-up windows. So just imagine knowing there's a button down there in a windows application pop-up window but you can't click it since you can't see it!!! I tried other tricks like configuring the display to 16-bit (High Color) instead of the 32-bit true color, but it still won't go for a 800x600 resolution. Tried other monitor drivers from the Mag website, it still won't go to a 800x600 resolution...

If anybody can suggest a monitor driver that would work which i missed, please do...I know a driver does work for this monitor since it worked for this monitor before, too bad i didn't make a back-up(my own fault) when my computer had a virus and the only solution was to format my hard drive.

Or if anyone knows an existing PMV 1448 driver somewhere...please respond...

How long have i been looking for this?...around 8 months now...its not easy, so if anyone can help....

I seem to have made a mistake yesterday in updating my driver for my Nvidia 6600 le video card. I updated it because I could no longer find the options to change the settings on my second monitor. I thought doing the update would again put it back in my taskbar. Now my second monitor isn't working at all and I still can't find where I can change any settings to get it back on. I think I might have a monitor driver problem. But I'm still unsure. I plugged in my two monitors yesterday, and I booted up my computer. When I booted it up with both monitors plugged into my graphics card (this is how I usually have it set up), my monitors said that there was no connection. So I turned off my computer and booted jt up with only one monitor in my graphics card. The dvi cable actually did connect to my computer just fine. And I just plugged in my vga cable after the computer had booted up, which also worked. I messed around on the computer for a couple hours, and it froze a couple times with an error message about my monitor drivers needing updated. But it unfreezed, and I decided I would update them in the morning. In the morning, I booted up my computer and it wouldn't connect to the monitors again. I tried booting it up with only one monitor to no avail. Then, I did the same with my other monitor, also to no avail. I tried plugging the vga cable straight into my motherboard (as apposed to through my graphics card), and this, again, was to no avail. I'm not really sure what to do at this point. I tid just turning the entire computer off and on again. I made sure that all the cables are well in their sockets. If this really is a driver issue, I don't really know how I would go about updating the drivers without a working monitor. Does this sound like a driver issue? And if so, what can I do?

Ok, I had an error on my Windows XP machine (involving autoexec.nt) and decided to pop in the installation CD and 'upgrade' the XP pro partition to XP pro. When this was done, I needed to reinstall the monitor driver for my monitor. When I tried to do so, however, the driver button was grayed out. I tried disabling the device and then enabling it again to see if this would fix the problem, but now nothing past the loading screen will display on the monitor. Is there anyway to reenable it or do I have to reinstall again?

I should also note that my harddrive is partitioned to windows 98 and windoes XP. If I try to reinstall win XP, will I be able to select the XP partition so that I don't lose all my data, but have a working computer again?

Hi All-

I posted this previously and I suppose it was really too boring or there were so many other posts or whatever - so I got no answer, but I may have a bit more info this time. Ever since I totally crashed my computer months ago my monitor will not shut off. I had to completely wipe the computer and then reinstall the OS. I am very sure that I installed all the drivers and looked for updated ones. However, in the device manager area I don't show a monitor. I do show a big yellow question mark (3 of them actually) saying "unknown, Video controller, VGA compatable." Oh, I have a Samsung SyncMaster 151v on a Sony Vaio and they are approximately 5 years old. I'm running XP Pro. I have the CD with the driver and it won't let me install, simply giving me an error code of (259). I went to Samsung and found that their driver was a year younger. I downloaded and unzipped it and got the same error code when I clicked on it. I really know little about computers - I don't know what video card I have, if I have one, etc. I could get all that from Belarc or HiJackThis I guess. My problem is that I set the thing to shut off at night and it won't do it. I set the timing after the screen saver and the screen saver will just go all night. I also tried it without the screensaver and it didn't help. Maybe someone can tell me where I may go elsewhere to get a driver , or, I'm guessing , this problem is probably more serious that that.

Hello. I have an LG Flatron W2243S. I have located the relevant driver on the LG website, downloaded the zip file and extracted it. I now have a driver file called W2243_for_Windows7

My problem is that I don't know how to install this file. There are no executables contained in the extracted file.

When I go through Control Panel I find that the monitor driver update button is greyed out, so instead I have run device manager (Run > devmgmt.msc > Monitor), right-clicked on 'Generic non-PnP monitor' and selected update from there. I then browsed to the location of the driver file and selected the folder but it did not install the LG driver. Instead I got a message saying the Generic driver was up to date.

I have looked inside the W2243_for_Windows7 folder but don't know how to install the files. I don't recognise the file types.

Can anyone tell me how?

Thank you

Running W7 with latest video card drivers on my desktop.

Issue: Whenever I first logon to the desktop, the screen displays, I hear the logon sound, and then the display momentarily dissappears and reappears (exactly like it does when you change resolutions but without "are you sure" prompts). Everything works fine, but I'd rather avoid this momentary pause and delay each time I logon.

This appears to be a driver monitor issue. For drivers, I have the "Generic NON-pnp monitor" and I also have a driver for my Philips 202P7. I downloaded the latest driver from Philips, but they did not explicitly state that this driver was windows 7 compatible. However, W7 does seem to recognize and use this driver. It lists it as "Phillips 202P7" and it correctly displays the types of resolutions available along with the correct refresh rates and it correctly assigns the supported default resolution.

Here's what I think is happening. When W7 logs on, it loads the Generic non-pnp driver, then it immediately detects and loads the Philips 202P7 driver. I've played around with the device manager, but I can't figure out how to force W7 to use only the Philips driver and not use the generic non-pnp driver.

Advice appreciated!

Hi, I am trying to find a replacement driver for my monitor, I'm currently using a stock XP one dated 2001. The reason is that I have a game called Cold Fear that will not play on my pc. I built it myself, and have had no problem with other demanding games like BF2, Doom 3, Farcry, etc. When I start the game the screen goes black but I can hear the audio.

I've exhausted every fix I can think of. I've updated all my drivers but for the monitor (19" Orion CRT). Orion does not host updates. Ubisoft support does not have the answer, and I'm trying to rule out everything.

My pc's specs are this:
AMD athlon 3200+ Barton CPU
BFG Nvidia 6800GT 256mb video card- DirectX 9c
2 GB Ram
Asus A7N8X-E deluxe MB
Soundblaster Live SC
Windows XP Pro

I've had an ongoing problem with this for some time now. You can see here that my Device Manager tells me that I'm missing a video controller, and also in that post is my inability to watch full screen videos online. Here, I talk about the problems I've had with my display driver crashing.

Now, yesterday I downloaded Photoshop, and as it opened, a window popped up saying that my "monitor Profile" is defective and needs to be calibrated (See first attachment). If I choose to Ignore Profile, I can use Photoshop as usual, but everything I export has an irremovable yellow tinge. If I choose to Use Anyway, there is no white in Photoshop's color pallet, only the same yellowish color.

This got me thinking for the first time that my monitor was the cause of my problems, so I searched online for Samsung 2243swx drivers. On their webpage, they had up for download only one driver, which is for a VGA graphics card (See second attachment). I've been running a PCI graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS), and I was wondering if this could be the problem.

Would you say I ought to buy a VGA graphics card?

Hi to all! I have a file with my monitors drivers in it. I have no disk, so I downloaded them from the manufacturers site. It is a Proview. Every time I try and add them, windows says there are no files there to update with. The file has the .inf files in there, but will not take them. I have gone through display, device manager to update files, etc, but no luck. I deleted the monitor, then windows adds it back in, says it is ok, then only gives 16 colors. Very frustrating. I have updated graphics card drivers, but when I load them, my screen goes black on boot-up. This is what I need the monitor files for, because I assume the black screen is due to the refresher rate being off. I have a 200mhz, win95 with 64ram. Basically, I want to know if I can manually put the .inf file info into a windows file myself, so windows recognizes it? What file is that in? Is there a way to change the refresher rate myself? Or is there a site with generic monitor drivers that would work for me? Thanks! Mike.

I'm aware that 32 bit drivers will not work on a 64 bit machine, yet it doesn't stop me from wanting to ask this question. I have an advanced knowledge of most computer issues, but this one is stumping me all around.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 710n that I picked up, used, for a decent price, and it broke my heart when I connected it to my Dell Optiplex 755.

I set the resolution low before swapping the monitor, not knowing what the highest resolution it would display. I set it at 1024x768. It has the 4:3 aspect ratio. To my surprise, it told me that the optimum resolution was 1280x1024, without displaying my computers graphics. It bounced around the default error message and I reconnected my old (broken) monitor and changed it to that display resolution. When I reconnected the SyncMaster 710n, in 1280x1024, it was still bouncing around that message!? Huh!?

So after some tears and anger, I tried a reboot to see if maybe windows would recognize the change. It did, and installed a generic pnp driver, and the screen came up in 1024x768, AND 1280x1024.

Here's the problem: Time to time, without any real reason, the monitor will error and go back into 'safe' mode. (note: monitor safe mode, not 'computer' safe mode) and display "This is not your optimum resolution", no matter what the computer's resolution is set at.

So, I have searched high and low for a Samsung monitor driver for use on a 64 bit platform. Even today, while writing this post, I'm ... Read more

Go to the Windows Updates site and do a custom scan instead of an express scan.

When the scan is finished, check the section for optional hardware updates.

If an INF monitor update is available in the list for your Dell monitor, download and install it.

Does anyone know where I can download a free Acer AL1715 monitor driver? The CD that came with it doesn't have a driver and although it is working OK (I recently had to wipe my hard drive and re load windows due to constant crashes) it doesn't refresh smoothly. I thought a driver would be a good place to start. The problem is when I scroll it doesn't do it smoothly. Also, since I reloaded windows my sound wont work and I dont know where to start!
**Actually, I've just looked in Device Manager and dont even have a little icon for monitors???? so I wouldn't be able to update the driver anyway. I've tried add new hardware but getting nowhere

I looked at Liz' post earlier - here is the results from a hardware scan:

A:Solved: Acer Monitor driver

Monitors do not need drivers.

All a monitor driver does (when one is available) is to restrict the resolution and refresh rates to those supported by the monitor.

As long as you actually set the Windows monitor driver to match the specs of the monitor it should be fine.

What you do need to do is reload the driver for your graphics adapter, as it will probably be struggling on the Windows default one.

ok I have no idea on this one and the good news is i can't fix it LOL.

i have an hp m9340f purchased a couple new nvidea graphics cards when I started getting the noisy fan issue .

Installed windows 7 everything worked great but was having problems with windows media center after I went to a 56k connection so i decided to format start over,
Everytime it installs the drivers for my nvidea graphics card my monitor goes black and has no signal. i tried both dif cards. same problem. I am guessing it is the recommended settings but since I only have one monitor I can't change the settings cause.. can't see to do it .. and I have no other monitor to hook to to try.
I can start up in safe mode so any idea's how to fix this issue or change it all to 800 x 600 so i can see when it starts up with new drivers .....

Hi and welcome

Have you tried to go into device manger to see if the driver is installed correctly? type device manager in search go to the display tab. Is you card listed? does it have a yellow triangle on it?

are there any other "unknown" devices with yellow on them?

I recently purchased a new video card with dual monitor and 1600x1200 screen resolution capabilities. I now have both of my monitors hooked up as one. I have a big CRT monitor that supports 1600x1200 as my primary and a flat panel LCD monitor that only goes to 1280x1024 as my secondary. My old card didn't support 1600x1200 so I never used that resolution on the CRT.

When I go to Properties > Settings > 1600x1200 it doesn't function properly. It makes me scroll around to the edges of the desktop to view everything. I'm pretty sure I need to install the correct drivers for the monitor to work with 1600x1200 properly.

I found the files on a free monitor driver site online. There are 3 of them in the .zip that I've extracted to my desktop. They end in the following extensions:

.cat
.icm
.inf

My question is, how do I use them to fix my monitor? Am I going to need to burn them to CD and try and access them through a disc somehow? Or is there just a certain program I need to run them now? Thanks a lot.

A:Problem Installing Monitor Driver?

The .inf file has the monitor information. The .icm is an image color matching file which helps it get the colors on the monitor right. It's really best to get these files from the manufacturer of the monitor. Their websites almost always have the files for all the monitors they manufacture. To install the .inf file just go to the "Device Manager" and then open up the list under "Monitors". Then right-click the monitor and bring up the "Properties" window. Go to the "Drivers" tab and click "Update Driver" and follow the prompts to search for the suitable device driver and then aim it at the directory where your stored the .inf file. That will tell Windows about your monitor and then you should be able to set all the screen resolutions and frequencies that it supports.

I followed the recent discussions to overwrite the EDID info.

1. My first question is. One of my moitor seems to have no EDID info. Even on XP it was not recognized, and I had to add the 32bit driver manually. In Win7 it's recognized as "non-PaP Monitor". Is it then anyhow possible to follow the techniques of overwriting EDID to achieve refresh rates, the moitor are able, but cannot be set in Windows (like 100Hz for 1280x1024 with is a bit sharper and stable for this 132KHz CRT)?

2. A 64bit driver is not availible for the Iiyama Vision Master HM903DA. I don't know anything about driver prgramming, but is it anyhow more or less easy possible to convert a 32abit driver in a 64bit driver.

The 32bit driver can be downloaded here
The driver is in the folder iiyama Drivers\CRT Monitor\HM903DTA_up\

Any help appreciated!

First I am STILL running Windows 98SE lol. I bought a NEW monitor (Samsungs syncmaster 997 DF). I keep my resolution (for photos at 1024x768). Then I have a problem with this monitor as to it's BRIGHTNESS. So now they tell me I need a much higher refresh rate. Ok I can't find this refresh rate where they tell me it is all I have is under NVIDIA adapter refresh rate, OPTIMAL, and adapter default and neither one SHOWS me what the refresh rate IS. Now on the monitor it shows 48.3K/ 60hz NN. Now the salesman says that's WAY tooo low and this monitor is cabable of so much higher but I can't do it. Also this monitor came with a disk with drivers for windows xp/2000 and windows ME drivers but says nothing for windows 98SE? So what do I DO? lol Cheryl

Hi...

IM trying to set up a monitor for a friend but wilst hes online gaming or offline etc he gets a very very light pattern , rather like small squares on his monitor. Hes just purchased the monitor out of a news paper but there was no driver with it. Ive searched the world wide web and it seems that the original site www.amaga.com has closed down so there may well be no support anymore.

Can any one help me by tracking down a driver. Im using windows XP home but XP dont seem to wont to load it...

Running Windows 8 Pro 32bit.

I have an HP LE2202x widescreen monitor for which a driver installed without any problems.
My 2nd monitor is a Mitsubishi DV173 17" which I use in portrait mode for documents.
I can only find an ICC profile for this monitor. Windows 8 shows it as generic pnp monitor, saying the latest driver is installed.
Everything seems to be working OK, but being a pedant I want the system to be right!
How/where do I get the correct driver for this monitor?

Thanks

Chris

A:Monitor driver needed rather than ICC profile?

Hello Chrispy,

That is a very old monitor (circa 2002) and I am quite certain that a specific driver is not available for Windows 8. If everything seems OK, it is OK. Good luck.

I bought a LG L226WA-BN last night. My computer is a HP A1730N using Nvidia's 6150LE graphics and running windows vista.

When I try to install the LG monitor driver, the computer tells me access is denied. I've tried installing the driver off the supplied CD as well as downloading it from LG, no luck.

Without the driver installed, I can't run Forte Manager to calibrate the monitor etc as Forte keeps telling me it's only used on LG monitors.

I am the admin account on Vista.

I'm stumped. Can anybody help?

Thanks.

I've just bought a fancy new curved screen HD Samsung monitor, but can't get it to work with my Windows 10 PC. Samsung tell me that they haven't released a Windows 10 driver yet, but that it should work with the basic Windows 10 driver. It doesn't. Has anyone solved this problem?

A:Driver for Samsung SD590C HD monitor

Are you saying you aren't getting any picture on the monitor at all? If that's the case, I don't think it is a driver issue. It sounds like a cabling/port issue.

After wiping my hard drive and reinstalling Win98, I noticed that the monitor would only allow me 16 colors. I went and found the driver CD, found the appropriate driver, and installed it. On the reboot, the computer screen goes blank. It will stay active for a little while, during the boot up, but once windows starts, it turns black. Turning the monitor on and off has no effect. I'm assuming it's a problem with the drivers, so I have two questions:

1. How do I start the computer in DOS mode during the reboot?

2. How do I uninstall the current driver so that the monitor will again work?

A:Monitor/Video Driver Problems

press the f8 key on boot to access the boot menu. Select safe mode. Go to device manager and delete your monitor and reboot. After reboot go to propertiesk, settings, advanced, monitor, change, and install correct monitor and reboot.

I have a question about a monitor driver that I want to install, I want to make sure this will work with my monitor and not disrupt or cause blue screens. Someone recommended this driver for Win7, even though Dell no longer supports updated drivers for my old system, 2008 Dell Inspiron 518 (this system came with Vista 32bit and I updated the OS to Windows 7 Pro). I was told this driver would work for my monitor but if other forum members could verify this, that would be a big help to me. Thank you so much!

Here's my monitor's model number: Dell SP2208WFP(HDMI) and here's the driver file that I want to install: dell_sx2210-monitor_webcam sw rc1.1_ r230103.exe

Probably the obvious thing to do is just call the support number, toll or not, but I was hoping someone might know something about this.
I bought a Powersped 4312 about 2/12 yrs ago. It was one of those package deals where you paid practically nothing for a basic setup but had to subscribe to MSN for three years.
I had to reformat my hard drive recently and lost the monitor driver. I let Windows find me one so I could just get hooked up to the INET again, but I know it's not the correct one.
The monitor is an RIC 555. At least that's what the tag on the back says. I can't find an RIC company anywhere on the internet that manufactures monitors.
Where can I find a driver for this beast?
It was hard enough finding a listing on the powerspec site for this model, much less support information.
Can anyone help?
Many thanks!

Hi, hope someone can help. This seems like a simple issue, but I've been to two other forums and gotten no response.

W7 runs fine, but I'm looking for help with an annoyance which I believe is a driver issue. My monitor (Philips 202p73) doesn't offer a driver for W7. I have an XP driver for it, but, not surprisingly, when I tried to point W7 to the XP driver, it wouldn't take. However, W7 somehow has found a driver for the monitor. It shows all the correct resolutions and refresh rates and uses the correct name. My vid card drivers are up to date.

The annoyance is that every time I logon, first the generic non-PNP driver loads and THEN the Philips driver loads. As a result, my screen goes blank and comes back on just as it would if you were changing the resolution. This happens every time I logon.

I've tired deleting the drivers, but they restore back the same way. How can I make W7 use the Philips driver only and not load the generic non-PNP driver first?

Thanks.

You may be able to force win 7 to use the XP driver by installing it in compatibility mode. to do that right click the installer>properties>compatibility>check XP.

If that doesnt work try to find a vista driver and do the same thing. That usually works

I have a ViewSonic 2235 22" LCD. I need to find a driver to allow 1600x1050 resolution. I've been to ViewSonic's site and downloaded their signed and unsigned Vista drivers with no improvement - the closes resolution I have the option of is 1600x1024 or 1600x1200.

I had this monitor working fine with a 1600x1050 resolution. I changed out my motherboard (from an Asus p5w to p5e) and reinstalled Vista - and now I'm unable to get the monitor to the right resolution.

The monitor is a Magnavox (Philips Consumer Products) CM9032. Their tech support says there isn't one & the standard driver in Windows should work. It doesn't...vertical colored lines except in safe mode. We have tried other Philips drivers & they cause the mouse to stop working and the computer to crash. Philips tech support say the driver is not causing it but the computer was working fine before this monitor. I looked up the monitor on the web & it says this one is fixed frequency, 60hz, and max res is 640x480.
