DirectX conflict (Moved from Games)

Q: DirectX conflict (Moved from Games)

I installed FEAR on my PC (P4 2 GHz, 2GB DDR, GeForce 7600GS, DirectX 9.0c) and it wouldn't start. I also couldn't get the "game controllers" to open in Control Panel and dxdiag aborted on the DirectInput component of the analysis.

I found a device simply listed as "HID-compliant device" under the Human Interface Devices listing in Device Manager. If I disable or delete that all my issues go away. I can access game controllers, I can play FEAR. I had thought this was for an old MS joystick but I don't believe that is the case now. But I don't know what it is!

And every time I restart the computer this entry is back along with the same problems. I can't see that it is linked to any physical device but somehow it plugs-and-plays itself back into existence.

What is this thing? Is there a driver update anywhere that will remove this conflict for good? Or is there something else I can do????

A: DirectX conflict (Moved from Games)

I will move you over to the Windows XP section, as this sounds more to do with Windows than anything else.

I need help with a directx problem. This started months ago. The problem is that certain games do not recognize what version of DirectX I have installed and tell me I need to upgrade despite having 9.0c.

Here is a screenshot of DxDiag, showing my DirectX version as well as the error message generated by a game when I try to install it:
When I do try to upgrade, the installation fails. I have tried reinstalling 9.0c with both the web and redistributable version as well as of the most recent updates to them and I get this error every time I try to install as soon as it first begins to search for components to update.

Hi Moore,

DirectX 7-8-9 and 10 are all included with Vista, If a game uses DirectX 9 it uses DirectX9, If a game uses DirectX 10 it uses DirectX10 without problems

Ok, I have nothing but trouble with this. On the whole, the operation of the card in normal running is fine. It's the Windows updates for XP pro that have really screwed things up.

The NVidia drivers for my Graphics card are fine from the CD that came with it. I installed sp1, without a problem. I then installed the rest of the O/s updates. no problem.

However, I installed the latest Nvidia driver Microsoft windows update had to offer. The Graphics card still worked, but when it came to changing settings in Display properties->settings->advanced, and glicking on the Geforce 440MX tab, there was an error message relating to a program 'Run DLL as an App' and the fact that it had to shut it down.

Also, after updating DirectX to 9.0b, after the XP logo on boot, there is often a 1 - 2 minute hang before the mouse cursor shows and the welcome screen loads.

I reverted back to the CD drivers for the card. The ability to alter the settings returned, but the system still hangs on boot.

Now, the hang I can tolerate, it just means being patient. What I'm not happy about is the fact that I don't know why, and have no idea as to what it could possibly be causing it. Is this a problem with the VIA chipset, DX9.0b, the nvidia drivers, or a combination of 2 or more of these?

Not knowing things even after looking and thinking about it is really annoying. Can anybody explain what this is, and help me learn something in the process?

A:DirectX 9.0b, geforce 440mx, asrock k7vt2. conflict?

try running this driver unistaller then go to nvidias site and pick up the latest drivers here. See if that fixes the problem.

Just as a general rule I don't download ms's fixes unless I have a problem or its something that sounds usefull. Usually while it does fix some potential problem the updates always seem to cause more trouble then they are worth.

Good luck

I have a hardware conflict that I belive is causing my modem to hang when attempting to go online.Win.95/Zoom v90 dual standard modem.Cserve is isp.Everything except the conflict has been de-bugged but it may be due to the fact that the original 14.4 faxmodem that came in the original config is conflicting with the Zoom modem which I installed in 99.Worked O.K. until my connection speed availability went to 37k from 23 or 24 due to new lines installed in area. When it DOES connect it makes the wav. file("thank you for using compuserve")stutter when disconnecting.Never does it at lower connect speeds.I tried disabling the old modem in setup but it caused another conflict.I have followed the troubleshooter step by step but can't get it and it shows a conflict with com port 2 and doesn't even show com port 1 on the device list. The modem, however, shows it's on com port 1 which is where it's supposed to be.I know this is confusing but maybe we can narrow it down and fix it.
Thanks in advance.

A:{MOVED FROM WIN-OS}hardware conflict

Are these conflicts showing up in Device Manager?

What, exactly, are they?

Do you have both modems still in the computer?

It is normal, by the way, for a modem to have a COM port which does not show up in the PORTS list. So, don't worry about that.

I was wondering about that if there's a some kind of conflict, or penalty if i want to play an original game on live (steam download) and later play another one but it's cracked. Let me explain i have some original games but i have one cracked that use games 4 windows, but i played it just offline so i don't have the need to go live with this one. The thing is that i uninstalled it long ago, but i want to play it again, so....if i install it again to play offline, would be a problem, conflict or penalty (like permanent ban or something) with my original games that i play online?

I hope I am in the correct topic section:
Last night I played Freecell and this morning when I clicked on the icon of freecell the window game up stating that I.E experienced a problem and would restart. I ran malwarebytes and eset online scan. There were some unwanted tool bars, but no viruses. Now I can't find any of the preloaded games such as freecell, hearts, solitaire and solitaire spider. How can I get these games back .
I did uncheck the games in 'turn windows features on and off', restarted the pc and reversed the procedure, to no avail.

A:I.E and games conflict

Even when not having I.E. open, when I click on Start>Games this window comes up "Internet explorer stopped working". Then the screen goes back to the desk top. I have tried restore the system in regular mode and in safe mode and both come back that windows restore did not make any changes. I also ran the sfc/scannow in regular mode and in safe mode, both came back stating there were no problems detected. At this point I am more worried about hidden malware that none of the programs detect than losing the pre installed games.

Lately i've been starting to look at parts for building a custom computer, but i am not very educated when it comes to building computers.

So... my question (since i am looking to sli 2 XFX GeForce 7300 GT's) do the newest games (like crysis and those other insanely demanding games) NEED directx 10 to run? Im not a graphics freak, and if the game or whatever is less sharp i won't care a whole lot, im more centered around gameplay.
I know those cards wont support directx 10, but i am worried that the games wont even work on a directx 9 system.

Thank you

Ok so here is the issue. This started not too long ago after installing BF2. All games which use directx (Medieval 2 Total War, Source engine games halflife 2 etc, and now finally Pirates of the Burning Sea) crash and cause my computer to turn off. I assume its only directx games as Audiosurf, which I believe is openGL, works perfectly. When i begin to play it renders for a few seconds followed by shutting down. Ive already updated to the newest drivers from ati and Ive uninstalled BF2 if that was the issue. None of this has helped. Anyone have any suggestions?????

I post this in the games section because even though it is a DirectX problem, the problem only seems to occur with certain games. Sorry if this is the wrong place.

I used to be able to run Street Fighter IV off of steam with no problems. Now, whenever I try I get "the latest version of DirectX is required". I recently tried to install Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts and I got a similar error (basically telling me I don't have the latest DirectX). I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT GPU graphics card with the latest driver on Windows 7. Dxdiag shows that I have DirectX 11, the display tab says DirectDraw, Direct3D and AGP Texture Acceleration are enabled. The notes section says no problems found.

I tried using the DirectX runtime installer (dxwebsetup.exe), as well as the latest DirectX SDK and both give me an error (internal system error has occured). I'm not sure when this started happening but I used to have no issues with DirectX.

Here is what is in my DXError.log file:

I've had this problem for a long time. For most games (apparently, any game that uses DirectX), I can run them for about 30 minutes to an hour, before they freeze, forcing me to restart my computer. This never happens when I'm playing an OpenGL game (Quake 3, Soldier of Fortune 2, etc.), or not playing a game at all. I've tried reinstalling DirectX, but that apparently didn't fix anything. I've also tried reinstalling my graphics card drivers several times; also ineffective. My graphics card is an Radeon 9600 Pro; if that's not enough information, I'll add more. When I try to play some games, such as Command and Conquer or Spiderman, I get the error message "The D3D8.DLL file is linked to missing export DDRAW.DLL:UnlockCB." and then the game doesn't start. These games have worked before.
Both of those DLL's are listed in DXDiag as DirectX files, DXDiag says no problems found. I've reinstalled DirectX multiple times, ver. 8.1, its what came with the games and its what they require. Some games (which I'm guessing don't use DirectX) do work. I've also tried reinstalling the games. Running Windows 98SE.

You have a ULi chipset, the same one as me. You're also describing the exact same problem I had when I switched from an ATI video card to an nVidia one.

I thought the problem was with the AGP driver, so I uninstalled it and the problem was fixed, albeit without the AGP driver installed. The only problem was that I couldn't reinstall the driver; this looks to be a limitation with the ULi chipset (or me). The only solution was to reinstall Windows.

So, maybe something has messed with the AGP driver. Just remember that you may not be able to reinstall it if you remove it to see if it's the same problem.

Ever since I got my new motherboard, my games don't seem to be running at all from the start. They all give me a message like "3D support was not able to initialize" or something of the sort. I have installed directX 9 b aswell. Also, not sure if this is related, but my Internet explorer scrolls very slowly and jerkily when I am browsing the web.

My graphics card is a Radeon 9200.
Thanks much for any help.

When you say downgrade, what do you mean? If you are trying to overwrite DX11 to DX9, it will not work. It i svery difficult to go backwards, and even if you manage it will probably do 101 nasty things at the same time.

What games exactly are giving this problem? I would guess that you mean it tries to install DX at the first install, but not sure.

And welcome to TSG

Last month I have a problem: any game, using directx, after 5-15 minutes of playing is crashing. Windows doesn't detects errors of game, but some games creating crash dumps. And once in day, independ of gaming/working/idle system reboots with one of these BSOD stops:

I attached two last WoW crash reports and dumps.

In WoWerror.exe reports pointed that pagefile volume is -1
but when i tried to play without pagefile, that volume in report is about -1,77 Gbytes, but Process Explorer launched with administrator privileges detects from 340 to 600 MB memory used.

All drivers has WHQL expect of lan adapter (ASUS NX1101).

OK, here's the deal. My games lag every 20 seconds and frame skip and all that junk, plus that the sound chops when it lags. I did try to fix this problem 2 months ago but wasn't able to fix it. I tried to reinstall games, did virus scans, tried to take some dust away, defragged both C: and D: drives, but nothing worked. So here im again, still stuck with the same problem and was hoping that you could help fixing it. I'm playing on a fairly good laptop that worked extremly well 5 months ago. My specs: 1.5 Ghz Intel Pentium M ( aka. Intel Pentium 4 2.6 Ghz ), 512 Mb Ram, Ati Mobility Radeon 9700.

So why do i come here now again?
Because i think i know what the problem is. I did DXDIAG, and found out that in my DirectX files, the directx.cpl file has gone old. So of course i tried to reinstall directx 9.0c, but this is where the real problem steps in. When i try to install it says " An internal system error has occured. Please refer to DXError.log and DirectX.log in your Windows folder to determine problem."

And i checked the DXError.log and it said something about the module not being found.

Hope u can help me out =)

Hi there!

For a long time the only games I've played have been World of Warcraft and Heroes of Newerth and have never ever encountered an issue running either one of these. However, during the week I installed Rift and Dawn of War2 onto my PC at the same time and am unable to play either one of them. Whenever I play one of the games after about 2-5 minutes my PC crashes.

My computer specs are as follows:

Intel Core 2 DUO, E4600 @ 2.40GHz ~ 2.40GHz
4.00GB RAM
Windows Vista 64bit
ATI Radeon HD 4800 series
The games start up fine and I'm able to play them without any issue for the first few minutes, then without warning my PC will go to a black screen and then after a further 5-10 seconds turn itself off completely.

I've installed the latest drivers for DirectX, my ATI graphics card and my sound card for my motherboard (P35-DS3L), and it still crashes. My friend seems to think the issues lie the fact that I'm playing directx dependant games as neithe HON or WOW run directly off it - or something like that (Hence the title). Not sure though.
As asked in the main thread here's my DxDiag:

I currently downloaded the patch for DirectX 9.0b and ever since, none of my games requiring DirectX have worked... they all come of up with similar errors all concerning DirectX or Direct3D. I have a GeForce2 video card (been meaning to update) and I'm thinking that it is because of this outdated video card. Warcraft III comes up with the error "Warcraft III was unable to initialize DirectX. Please ensure you have DirectX 8.1 or newer installed and that your display drivers are current. DirectX may be found on your Warcraft III CD under Options." The error for Diablo 2 is "Error 25: A critical error has occurred while initializing Direct3D." For other various games it comes up with something like "3D Graphics Not Supported!" or similar. I have all my drivers updated for my GeForce2 and I have tried installing older versions of DirectX like 8.1 and I have tried reinstalling DirectX 9.0b just to make sure that there were no problems while installing also I have looked at similar threads and none of them have helped... somebody please help?

I'd like to start by thanking you for at least taking a look at my problem.

Since recently I have been getting BSOD's while playing Counter-Strike:Source (hl2.exe), it started completely random which is the odd part.

The first BSOD I had was an issue related to dxgmms1.sys - after that first one, plenty followed. All of them seemed to happen within 20 minutes of playing. I eventually formatted my harddisk and reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate x64, hoping for a fix.

However, instead of a fix, I've been getting BSOD's (within 20 minutes of playing, again) on this fresh install. The only things installed on my computer, at this point in time, are my drivers and Counter-Strike:Source since I wanted to see if it was caused by software.

I will run a memory test tonight and update you first thing tomorrow.

Alexander hi and welcome

Three of these crashes point directly to your video driver. while it is a fairly current driver it may have become corrupt. I would download and install a fresh copy.

When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Guru3D - Driver Sweeper
The other two mention but dont point to your audio driver so perhaps it would be a good idea to re-install it as well.

The rest of your drivers are fairly current, and there are only a few other things that might be ca... Read more

Hi all.

here are the specs of my machine.

I have windows XP SP2, AMD K7 processor, Nvidia Geforce FX5200 with 128MB ram, 512MB ram with 219.29MB free, 224GB HD, DirectX 9.0c.

One of the games I am trying to run is "Requiem, Avenging angel" from 3DO.

I have played games on PC now for the last 10 years plus. I still have a lot of my older games which I used to run on my old machine running Win 98b with the older DirectX versions. I would like to be able to keep playing them, but games which use DirectX versions older than 7 cannot detect DX 9.

I have heard of some software which tells (lies to) the software that the version is what it wants. If this software exists or if there is any other workaround I would be very interested in any help at all with this issue.

Yesterday I decided to install an old game (Tie-Fighter), and installed the game with no problems. However, when I tried to run the game it told me that Direct3d wasn't installed. I knew this was nonsense, but tried to install it anyway. It told me it had installed it, but every single time I tried to play the game it took me to the installation bit, which got on my nerves a touch, as you can imagine.

Today I decided to play on a different game (Rome: Total War) a game I already had installed and worked fine every other time I've tried to run it. It told me it couldn't find DirectX9.0, which it needed to run. I knew it was already installed, but decided to re-install it anyway, thinking there was just some blip from when I installed tie fighter. It told me it had installed properly, but during the "installation" the progress bar never appeared, prompting suspicion from me. I decided to install DirectX from the microsoft website. This time it flat out refused to install. Getting a little worried now (and very, very annoyed) I decided to try and get directX from a non-microsoft website. Although this is not the most sensible option, I had (to my knowledge) tried everything else and was willing to give it a go.

It downloaded without problems, and othing else was brought with it, so I was hopeful for it to work. I opened the setup and ran it. Lo and behold it seemed to work, taking a matter of seconds to install (rather than instantly telling me it was... Read more

I've been having issues with my NVIDIA Drivers becoming corrupt on my Y700 with the NVIDIA Geforce GTX 960M. Every few days when I try to play a DirectX games like Guild Wars 2 or Team Fortress 2, the games fail to launch. GW2 doesn't fire up after clicking the Play button in the launcher but there is not warning message. TF2 will give a Direct3D error when I try to launch it. In any case, the only solution I have found is to download and reinstall the NVIDIA drivers. I currently have driver verion 368.22 but this has been happening on older NVIDIA drivers as well. After reinstalling the NVIDIA drivers, everything works fine for a few days.

The computer I had this problem on is running Windows 2000 pro. All I can tell you is that for no reason, the desktop icon colors are displaying only 256 colors. Other than that, I am having Direct Draw problems on games such as Diablo II. It will not allow me to run them. I ran all the tests on DirectX, which seemed to fix the problem before, but it did not work this time... I've tried reinstalling DirectX 9.0a several times, and no luck whatsoever. So I deleted DirectX, and reinstalled, still no luck, the files weren't even being displayed where they were meant to.

New to the forum, and I'm here to get some help in regards to a problem I'm experiencing in regards to graphics/display issues with DIrectX11 and Direct3D.
1) The Problem
Bioshock Infinite (woot!) fails to start  Other games also fail to start. Saint's row only starts upon DirectX9 boot and does not start for DirectX 10 or 11.
When I launch from Start --> Dxdiag (to attempt to see my DirectX 11's functions) I get an error message which reads "dxDiag has detected that there might have been a problem accessing Direct3D the last tiem this program was used. Would you like to bypass Direct3D this time?"
Answering Yes: I see the menu as expected. According to my computer, everything about DirectX11 is running properly and is fully updated. The DirectX Diagnostic Tool claims that there are no problem found.
Also, DirectDraw Acceleration is DISABLED and Direct3D Acceleration and AGP Textrue Acceleration is NOT AVAILBLE

Answering No: Error message and the program crashes. [This seems to suggest that the issue lies with Direct3D of DirectX 11]]

When I try to change my display settings. --> Advanced Settings for "Generic PnP Monitor and Intel® HD graphics 4000 properties --> Troubleshoot tab reads: "If your current display driver allows you to change settings, click this button to troubleshoot problems with your computer's display" I am NOT able to access this (Change Settings button is colored gray and unclickable)

I consider myself somewhat experienced with computers in general and Windows in particular (been using computers since the DOS days), but there is a thing with windows that rather baffles me.

The thing is that since some time ago, whenever I start a game or any other DirectX program in full screen it resizes all opened windows to that program’s screen resolution. Even dxdiag full screen tests seem to cause it.

Once the full screen program exits or if I alt-tab out of it, all mine previously maximized windows are resized to fit in whatever resolution the DirectX app was running but they seam to think they are still maximized (2 squares instead of one on the maximize button and I need to press it twice to actually maximize them again, and also their size when not maximized seam to be changed to the app’s resolution as well).

I normally run my desktop at 1280x1024 resolution (native resolution of my LCD monitor) and usually am running multiple windows in background when playing games (Firefox most of the time), so it’s irritating when switching back from the game to find those windows resized to smaller size, especially with older games that don’t support resolutions larger then 1024x768.

I could swear that this was not the way full screen under DirectX worked before. It might be my memory failing me, but I’m almost sure that I used to run games in full screen at resolutions as low as 640x480 (before I bought the LCD monitor) without it resizing windows in backg... Read more

Hello Yaffa and welcome to BC

Given that what you have posted here isn't a game to play but is rather a question if given game sites are infected, I am moving this topic out of Forum Games into the Am I Infected forum. I am moving it there because if those sites are infected and you have been going to those sites, then chances are your computer is infected.

Please tell us what your operating system is: Windows XP, Vista, etc.

What security programs do you have installed?

By chance, are you experiencing any issues with your computer: Pop-ups, redirections, etc. Please be as specific as possible.

Bought a game the other day (AoEIII)...

Came home and installed it...

Tried to run it.. and NOTHING.. The hour glass comes on for a second, but then nothing. It doesnt even attempt to launch it..

So I call up Microsoft... And even though I could barely understand them (they route all their calls to India and their technicians barely speak English and the connection is always horrible) they walked me through COUNTLESS steps to take... Which I will list in a second.

Well after trying EVERYTHING they suggested and then some over several calls this past week (including taking the game back to get a new one just in case that there was a remote chance the CD itself was corrupt).. nothing.. problem actually got worse!

-Cleaned up the errors on my drives.
-downloaded and ran the microsoft anti spyware.
-****ed around with the startup items (removed them)
-created a whole new account on my PC with NOTHING but the game installed on it.
-uninstalled and reinstalled the game like 20 times.
-upgraded my RAM to 768mb(more than enough for my needs)
-upgraded my graphics card (nothing special, GeForceMX4000 128mb, but should be more than enough to run this game).
-downloaded some registry cleanup **** and ran it...
-downloaded Mcafee (and this is when my problems really began.. had all kinds of **** on their that couldnt be removed, like some "Backdoor-CFB" ****, among others) PLUS now my Mozilla and Explorer pretty much crash at random now (all the time)... Also, my scre... Read more

Hi everyone,
I'm getting quite frustrated with my computer and I've been scouring the net for any info relating to my issue.
Every time I try to play a graphics intensive game my computer restarts. Sometimes right when the game menu boots and sometimes right when the game itself starts. It always happens at the exact same position in each game. This happens to any and all games I try aside from 'Majesty' which is by no means system intensive.

Now here's where the issue becomes really odd. At first glance it seems like simple overheating, however I've ruled that out since the games always crash at same position in every case. This all started after I moved my RAID drive plugs temporarily to try and install a new harddrive. Putting the plugs back into their slots didnt fix the problem.

I've now permanently moved the slots into their new positions and initially I thought it had to do with the harddrives themselves. But I also ruled that out since I can run the game over the network off of another computer and it will still crash.

I've done the following to try and fix it:
-Reinstalled windows
-Formatted the Raid drives
-Rebuilt the Raid Array
-Reinstalled the SATA RAID Drivers.
-Replaced the SATA Raid Drivers.
-Updated the BIOS

The problem started right after I moved the plugs from their initial SATA slots and then back again. I bet it's just some BIOS setting or something but I honestly can't figure out what it could be.

After some reading, try using a commercial defrag program as the built-in Windows defrag program will not properly defrag some of these large files.

I am experiencing a problem which has stumped me greatly. Whenever I download a patch for a game (so far I've tried Battlefield, Call of Duty, and Battle for Middle-Earth) and begin to install it, I get an error message shortly after the patch begins. It seems as if all the files are corrupted or something. I can download everything else just fine, like video and music files, but not game patches. I've tried downloading the same patch from several different websites using both IE and Firefox, and had my friend send one to me over AIM, but none of them work. I was able to patch games just fine until a while ago, I think after I used System Restore to go back a few weeks to take care of another unrelated problem. And I know that it is something wrong with my computer specifically, as I patched Battlefield just fine on another computer in my house using the same Internet connection. The only other thing I can think of to try is burn the patch onto a CD and see if that works, but my other PC doesn't have a burner, so I'll have to wait to try that I guess. Anyone have any ideas? It's really bugging me.

A:Starting programs automatically? [Moved from Games]

Start Menu -> Run -> msconfig

You have to be really careful here. You don't want to cancel any startup programs that you would need. Just be aware. This permanantly stops programs from starting up when you start windows. If you still want some of these to start up, you'll still have to close them manually.

Additionally, if you don't already, run some spyware cleaning programs. They might be contributing.

Ok I have been basically letting problems build up on my computer for awhile now without diagnosing anything because of how difficult the repair process seemed to be. So you can imagine the multitude of viruses, adware, and trojans that have built up.

Recently I tried playing Bioshock and the game crashed during the first loading screen after I invested 15 minutes into beating the first level without saving... Tried again and I crashed at the same spot. So I tried Left 4 Dead 2 and I crashed trying to connect to a game. Tried Fallout 3 and crashed shortly after the character creation menu... BTW, java games like plants vs zombies and Creeper World are working fine, its just those 60 dollar real games that won't work.

So I finally give in and go all out to fix all of my problems. I bought Spydoctor, ran it and cleaned out my hard drive, in fact I am running the file scanner right again with updated definitions, but its been an hour and its at 8%.... I updated my motherboards bios which finally allowed me to run chkdsk and defragment. Full scans of both completed, and now aside from the file scanner and a possibly slightly out of date windows update I've run all the diagnostics I can think of.

Everything else is working fine, but my games still aren't working last I checked. I am working on those last two diagnostics I mentioned, but what else can I do.

Before anyone says anything

1) Yes my system is up to spec, its an old game and a computer capable of running new games im pretty sure.

2) Restarted almost a dozen times now for all the updates and diagnostics i've done so far.

3) No mods

4) I made a point of closing everything before each play test.

5) Direct X is up to date, DX11

6) Updated sound and video drivers about a month, maybe 2 months ago at most.

7) Fallout 3 is currently my main test game and I installed the patch for v1.7 and the stupid Microsoft Games for Windows program that the patch requires...

8) The fact that I get into the game and I have the same problem with other games should rule cd scratches out.

9) The first time I encountered the problem, it was with no patches on Fallout3 and I encountered the problem while the install was still fresh, meaning I didn't screw anything up since I installed the game. I already reinstalled it and immediately installed the patch and encountered the same problem.

BTW yes this is still a problem for all games, Fallout 3 is just the game I run into the problem the quickest on so I am using it as a test subject.

I've only confirmed this on Lord of the Rings Online and Final Fantasy XIV beta client so far, but the mouse cursor has a tendency to jump to one of the four corners of the screen and keep going in that direction (it remains visible at the corner of screen) for about a second or two before I can regain control of it. When this happens while I'm rotating the view during play, it causes the camera to spin around really fast and is extremely disorienting (and also makes my character move in an entirely different direction if I'm moving it at the same time). If you need the dxdiag to diagnose the problem, I'll be able to put it up once I get home in about 3 hours.

Thanks in advance.

Well it worked for me anyway.

You need both the 9.0b and 9.0c full versions. both around 30Mb each. Unzip both to respective temp folders. then copy and paste the following from 9.0b to 9.0c:

next you need a direct x uninstaller. i used dx eradicator from, bu there are plenty around

once done simply run dxsetup in the 9.0c version (which would be the one you copied before right) and it will install using the files from the folder it is in. and there you go you have installed directx 9.0c.Click to expand...

I am getting so frustrated.....

I got a new pc monitor recently. Works fine. Just sometimes gives me this error "input signal out of range. Change to 1600x900". When I want to change my resolution to that, I only have the options of 800x600, 1024x786, 1280x1024, 1600x1200 and 1920x1440. There is no option for 1600x900

What the problem is:
I can't play any of my games anymore (League of Legends, GW2 etc). I get an error whenever I try to open it which says I must have the correct video driver installed and directx stuff etc.

How the problem occurred:
I was downloading the game Star Wars the old republic. When I tried to run the game, I got the input signal out of range error and had to restart my computer. Since then I can't open any of my games.

What I have done to fix the problem:
1) Searched google endlessly for a solution without any luck.
2) Ran my computer in Safe Mode many times. Still doesn't work.
3) Uninstalled/updated video driver a couple of times.
4) Unplugged monitor after uninstalling the "display adapter" in the device manager, plugged it back in and started the computer so that it will automatically download the driver.

I've been having this problem intermittently since I moved into my new place a few months ago.

The setup: 2Wire modem/router -> Belkin wireless extender -> My computer, game consoles, whatever

It works fine most of the time, but occasionally decides to act up in a variety of ways:

- The one mentioned in the thread title. Everything will be working fine, then the IP address conflict message just kinda pops up. Check the extender and router through my phone (because I can't access them through my computer), and I see that there is clearly no conflict. No other device is trying to use the same IP address as my computer.

This used to happen like once a month, but it's happened four times in the past two days. Happened once while I was typing this up, in fact. I've tried resetting my computer's IP address through the command prompt. That doesn't work. I can usually fix it by resetting or unplugging the router and/or the extender, but sometimes I have to do it multiple times.
- Internet just drops here and there... then comes back on a few minutes later. When this happens, I can access the extender, but not the router. And it doesn't only happen to my computer, which is really frustrating when I try to play a game online or something. I've basically given up on that by now after being dropped constantly.

This happens frequently, like at least once every couple hours. The best I can do about it is just refresh Google or something ... Read more

Also I have Seen A Similar Thread with someone who had the same problem and Was Helped By a User Named usasma. If Usasma would be able to help by answering this post or anyone else that knows whats going on could answer this it would be great.

here is the thread that had a similar problem to my situtation.

A:Having DirectX Problem, Specifically DirectX Diagnostic

Hello Rudabega, welcome aboard.

The log you uploaded contains four elements beyond repair, as I apparently found.
keymgr.dll ==> non system service
korwbrkr.dll ==> non system service
kerboros.dll ==> non system service
d3d11.dll ==> DirectX Direct3D 11
► For the non system services, I am not very sure which software originated those files in your registry. The best what you can to deal with those is to download and install CCleaner > Run it > Click on the registry tab > scan for issues > fix selected issues.

► For DirectX Direct3D 11, I would say that it is inbuilt in windows. So if SFC is unable to fix it when windows is running, try SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot

► But, for your situation, I would suggest you that a Repair Install would be the best option.

I tried changing the key (through regedit.exe) to the common 8.1 key in case it would work (so HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\directx\version to from, yet even so dxdiag still states that I'm running DirectX 11. It surprised me that DirectX 11 had a 9.0 version key, and I know this method worked back in DirectX 9.0, so I'm thinking after 9.0 the version must be communicated in a way other than through the registry. Is there any way I could get my computer to detect DirectX 8.1 even for a short time in place of DirectX 11? Like am I missing a necessary key, or maybe is there a DirectX version synth program?

A:I need a temporary way to induce detection of DirectX 8.1 instead of DirectX 11.

I just did a clean install on my laptop after installing a new SSD. I installed the drivers that I had to install manually, and then I did a Windows update for anything else. After getting everything setup I ran my first Windows Experience Index.

Surprising, the graphics score was only 5.0, but I am almost sure it was higher with the factory installation. I am runnng Aero but with most of the visual effects turned off. I viewed the assessment details and it showed this:

If you notice, the DirectX version is 10. But when I run dxdiag the version number in the report is 11. Here is my configuration, and please let me know if more information is needed. Thank you very much.

HP Pavilion dv7-4285dx
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit made from ISO image: X17-58997.iso
Graphics Adapter: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6370

A:DXDiag shows DirectX 11 but Windows Experience Index shows DirectX 10

I believe that WinSAT only test for DirectX 10 and 9, not 11. That's why it only shows DirectX 10. If your card fails to do the DirectX 10 test, then WinSAT will only display DirectX 9. Don't worry about it. If DxDiag shows DirectX 11, then your card can support it.

Where I work we have a few network printers that are saying IP Conflict. We run DHCP but we have an IP range reserved for just printers. The printers are in the range and when pluged in you can ping them fine when unplugged you can NOT ping the address. So why is there a conflict? or am I not looking for a duplicate IP?

A:Printer says IP conflict but don't see a conflict

The device that's conflicting may not return a response to a PING.

If this has been asked can someone give me the link, if not im just wondering, I guess the actual hardware on the card it self has to have the component for directx 10 they cant come out with the drivers for say a g-force 7900gs to be compatible with directx 10? thanks

A:directx 9 to directx 10 cards

I don't think they can. That's not to say that at some time in the future they won't. I'm sure a company that sells graphics processors wouldn't want a software advance like that to happen. They would lose a lot of sales.
