softwrap file error 1

Q: softwrap file error 1

My 16 year old daughter downloaded blubster and afterwards, we began to get pop ups all the time. So, I uninstalled it and now when we start up the computer, we get a softwrap file error 1 message everytime. I read other posts about this, and all I learned was to uninstall blubster, which I have already done. Can anyone tell me what to do to remove this error message?

A: softwrap file error 1

Is this when you log on?

Try checking your startup items to see if blubster is there?
To do this

- Click Start->Run
- Type "msconfig.exe" and press enter
- In Msconfig click the startup tab
- Look for some program related to blubster

The answer I found on MS's technet doesn't match my problem - It claims that this error happens when installing Project before Outlook. There is no Project installed on this computer. It runs OO for everything except Outlook, which allows users to get to our Exchange server.

Here's the really insane thing: 3 users have this error happen. 3 users are able to access outlook just fine. (I've personally tested and observed this behavior.)

Since my google-fu failed me and MS has been less than helpful, I turn to the vast knowledge of BC's users in the hopes that someone else has seen an error like this.

Hello everyone,

Firstly I would like to say that this seems like a swell enough forum as is and I am frankly out of ideas. About a year ago I had backed up a rather large series of files under one name for my roommate who was in the process of doing some "spring cleaning" on his computer. Fast forward to now and he is out of Hard-drive space damn near and has been unable to find the reserve file himself. Below is the directory under which I named and saved the around 200gb file of games and old-ROTC documents. Regardless the file needs to be found and even after un-hiding all files from the control panel, I have yet been able to locate it. It would seem to be simple enough, one would think that you could see the file name sitting above Program Files but it is not. Any one have any ideas, we would rather not have to reformat/ system restore if we can avoid it.

A:File path error/ Cannot find file directory/file itself

I used a software called TreeSize which shows the size of all folders on the disk. Thinking that the Windows OS is around 18gb, a 200gb files should really stick out with TreeSize.

Hi guys don't really know where to put this because I don't know what is causing it.  I was infected with cryptolocker and the 4 files can still be found in just about every folder on the computer however the infection is no longer active?  I don't get the messages anymore when I reboot/log in.
After the infection was removed everything seemed fine.  That was a couple months ago. Last night I needed a picture and I went back to get it and found out all my thumbnails are gone (they show the place holder and file name but not the picture) and the pics wont open on an entire hard drive and scattered throughout the computer.  (I localize most pics on one drive) The video files are ok though.  I have been searching the web and downloaded data repair (stellarphoenix).  Tried photo shop because I read that it would open files with bad headers.  Tried gimp.  Tried my linux box.  When I look on the network linux cannot even see the files.  Tried the following command at C: assoc .jpeg=jpegfile and get access denied error occurred while processing jpeg.
In some folders half the files are there and half are not.  I originally noticed when I clicked on the image and got this message.  "windows photo viewer can't open this picture because the file appears to be damaged, corrupted or is too large.

I cannot copy or paste jpeg files from my computer to my SD 2GB cards. Also, I get this msg when I try to print jpeg files. Using Adobe Elements I am able to archive these files. Oddly enough I can attach and send these jpeg files via email. Prior to August '08 was able to do these tasks without a problem. I suspect that there is a software compatibility problem since this problem came on suddenly (maybe iTunes?). No problems importing jpeg files from SD cards. A:Error copying file or folder; cannot copy img the directory or file cannot be created

This has caught me more than once.

The problem is a limitation on the number of files and folders allowed in the root folder of a FAT16 file system (as for a memory card) of 512. (Note, this number is reduced much further if longer file names than 8 characters are used, as most people will want to).

When transferring the files onto the card, new files will be rejected when you hit this limit.

So keep your files in separate folders, so they are not all in the root folder.

For files and folders in root it might be worth keeping your filenames under 8 characters in length so you can use the full 512 files on root folder.

Hey all, this error message started appearing after I booted my laptop up after it had sat for almost 6 months. I do not remember what I had installed on my computer before I didn't touch it for 6 months, and I am not entirely sure how long I have put up with the error message before I decided to try this forum. I have tried to figure out what the file is, and none of my friends who are handy with a computer know what it is. The error message reads "Error loading C:\WINDOWS\ewizicifaquza.dll The specified module could not be found." when I put the file name in google, google doesn't come up with anything, it says that the file matches nothing.

I am running Windows XP Professional edition. This error occurs at start-up, every time I boot up my computer. I would assume that this is a module found under the svchost files, but I cannot be sure. I want to know what the file is, and I want to know what it is supposed to do. I am so confused. Thanks for your time.

(click here if you're not sure how to do this.)Open the folder and double-click on autoruns.exe to launch it.Please be patient as it scans and populates the entries. When done scanning, it will say Ready at the bottom.Scroll through the list and look for a startup entry related to the file(s) in the error message.Right-click on the entry and choose delete.Reboot your computer and see if the startup error returns.Orange Blossom

Hello everyone:

Please someone -- can anyone help -- I have noticed a problem on one of my computers, which uses Office 2007, that when i attempt to do anything on my virtual machine (which uses Office 2003) within excel, invariably the file gets corrupted. I am not sure why this happens, because it doesn't always happen right away. However, after creating a file on my VM and then it gets saved on my regular machine, either after a few sessions or immediately, i get the error "file format not valid". I have spent over two weeks on this file (yes, using it everyday and saving/opening with no problem up until yesterday) and it has a lot of critical, non-sensitive data. I have tried calling my helpdesk (they were of no help), tried saving the file as *.xlsx, tried opening in word and wordpad (I could see some data -- but not all the critical data was there). PLEASE -- I have already bought one of those Recovery tools (which didn't get even 50%, or at least the critical updates i made yesterday). I can't afford to spend more -- is there anyone who would be willing to help a lost soul get this data back??? I have attached the file

I've got Excel 2000. (Win98)
The PC froze / hung-up while in excel. Could only power off to restart.
Now when you access the file you get a message that the "file is in use" and can only be opened in read only mode.

"When you open a file that is in use, you'll get a message that tells you the file must be opened in read-only mode. In some cases, you may get this message even though the file is definitely not in use. This can be caused by an Excel crash, in which the file was not released."

The file was being accessed on another PC via a basic household network.
Our work around at present was to access the file in Read-only mode and save it as a new file. The old file still exists. I can't delete it as I get the same file in use message.

But, I'm still working on the older file to see if I can unlock it some how.
Tried the following:
1) Check/deleted temp files on the editing PC.
2) Checked the file attributes on the file (Note: the file did not have the "Read-only" attribute ticked)
3) Now checking the source PC for temp files.

Any direction greatly appreciated.

Hello guys,

I have had this problem for quite a time now. Everytime I try to download a file it is corrupt.

For instance, I tried downloading a movie clip off rapidshare and although its only 3 files and 300MB, it always came as CRC error check failed. I tried downloading it from multiple servers of rapidshare but had no success. I also tried downloading other files yet I am having no success downloading anything.

Finally I decided to reformat my computer and I still got the same issue. So then I read in a forum that this might be caused by my hard drive. Therefore I went out and bought a new hard drive and installed Windows XP Professional and I still have the same problem.

I have updated ALL motherboard, video, audio and additional utility drivers. I am also updated Windows XP till date. I also read on this forum about ComboFix and tried troubleshooting it. Here is my Combofix log:

Edit: Think my hard drive may be failing and was the cause of my file synchronizing crash. I use it mostly to stream music and video and access the hard drive a lot. Any advice thanks

HDDStatus - Tool to check hard disk status, health and reliability

I've been using GoodSync for the past couple of months to chain synchronize 3 hard disk drives and ran into my first issue today. GoodSync stopped responding whilst synchronizing changes to files so I used task manager to manually end the process.

I'm not entirely sure how much damage has been caused but when I re-analyzed the file changes a lot of the changes prior to the crash was no longer listed.. So I'm unsure of the file integrity but have so far noticed some music video files are corrupt with cyclic redundancy check errors but is not easily visible to check corrupt files because they still play but parts of data are missing.

I think I've experienced cyclic redundancy check errors before when my external hard drive fell flat on it's side whilst it was playing music (3 years ago). It took me a long time to filter out the bad files because all the mp3 files worked but some songs would randomly play in others etc.. is their some type of automated CRC scanner or method to check all my files ?

My system is running Win 7 Professional 32 bit with 4gig RAM
I am experiencing a problem installing a piece of software - Laplink PC Mover - I need to migrate to my new machine.
The installer starts and the grinds to a halt with the error message:
"Error 1310. Error writing to file: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Laplink PCMover Professional\Visit Verify that you have access to that directory"
I understand from Laplink Tech Support that this is a generic Windows Installer problem, and searching the web it seems to crop up a lot.
I have done a lot of searching, including this site.
I have tried the solutions I have found so far:

Run as Administrator [my user profile has administrator rights but I tried that anyway]Run from the Administrator user accountInstall in Safe Mode - Windows tells me the installer is not available in safe mode!!!Un-registering and re-registering the installer via msiexecUsing the SubInACL tool to repair file and registry permissions
After all of this, I get the same result - the installer halts with the same message.
Can anybody help? I am desperate to avoid two days solid re-installing all my expensive software, finding product keys etc.

I had tried a clean boot [disabling all non-MS services] but had the same problem.
In the end, I contacted Microsoft support who took remote control of the PC and reset permissions etc with "Repair Windows" from Whole process took a few hours.

I copied some files from my old HP laptop with xp, burnt them with burnaware onto a dvd. Now on my new laptop (lenovo g580 W7 64bit) I tried to take them off the DVD and move to my local drive, when I was moving them from disc to drive explorer gave me a message saying 'Invalid MS-dos function' and the usual try again or cancel option.
Thinking some of the files on disc might be corrupt I ran
xcopy F:\*.*/s > C:\test1
And got the message in my topic title File creation error - Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
Now I don't have clue what this means and I can only tell you I have an output file in C, as per the command instructions, with almost all the files listed, some are missing but some of the ones there are the corrupt ones and some of the ones missing I think are fine.
Doesn't really lead me to the issue unless someone can decipher the error message I got?

First is gave the Network Control errors about IP addresses accessing different things that took me to a list of bogus anti-virus software to download.

This eventually leads to Internet Explorer launching a bunch of windows full of bad links, like a bunch of porn type stuff.

Then it would not let me click on anything to install any scanning software without the Application cannot be executed error.

Finally I was able to run rskill from a usb drive and that stopped the Application cannot be executed error ... but the other Network Control popup keeps coming back.

I scanned with Adaware and removed those results ...

I tried to scan with Spybot, but it would not without an update and I did not want to connect to a network

I scanned with superantispyware scanner and removed what it found.

I tried to scan with avast, but the Network Control error came up and rebooted the machine by force and stopped that. Tried that twice with the same result.

I was able to get into Add/Remove programs and found the MediaBar 2.0 installed. I took that off -- wondering if that was the start of all this...

GMER scan too forever ... about 1.5 hours and the Network Controll popup caused a forced reboot before it could finsih ... so no GMER log yet.

I am using Windows ME in a new Dell Dimension 4100 series, Pentium 3, 1.1 gig, MSN Office 2000 Professional.

I am having trouble saving a word document that was e-mailed to me. I did a "save as" into "my documents." Then I changed something in the document, and I saved it. Upon closing the document I was asked if wanted to save changes and I said yes.(this confused me as I don't normally get this when I do the normal 'save' under the 'file tab')
Later when I went to open this document, I got an error message, "Locked for editing by another user, click notify to open as a read only copy". When I clicked on notify, I got another error message,"Winword has caused an error in winword.exe. Winword will now close.Try restarting your computer."

When I tried to delete this document, I got the message "Cannot delete file. Access is denied. Source file may be in use."

I experimented and again saved into my documents, again made a change, hit save and closed the doc. When I got the message asking me if I wanted to save the changes, I said no. This procedure enabled me to reopen the document.

I don't understand what is happening and why the key seems to be how I answer the question, do you want to save the changes?

Can someone help?

A:Word doc-error messages: locked, winword error, source file

SOUNDS LIKE (tho I'm not sure), that Word didn't exit properly at least that one time. Next time it happens, and you believe Word to be closed, hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and see if "winword" is still in the task list. If so, click on it and hit End Task. Then delete your file.

If your programs aren't "really" closing down, you may just need to clean up your hard drive. Follow the instructions at:

Please someone help me!

I am running XP Home edition, with IE 8. All updates have been installed for both packages, in addition all updates for other programs have been updated and installed when appropriate.

MS Office 2000 (With MS Outlook 2003) has been working on my POC almost flawlessly for several years. All of a sudden it has been acting funny. So I decided to reinstalled / repair it.

I have a hard time updating and repairing Office 2000. I keep getting the error message code 1316, networking error. DATA1pro.msi. I have followed MS help site word by word, but to no avail.

I did a virus info update and full scan
Scanned for spy ware, with two packages, Ad Aware and A-Square.
Registry cleanup
Removed all startup items that arent necessary
Tried disabling the anti-virus software
I also ran an XP system repair and a system file check
Cleared all Temporary Internet Files and cookies, etc. (I usually run CCleaner on start-up).
I disable the Find Fast Indexer
Tried to run system restore and did not work.
I copied the entire CD's content to the hard drive and perform following steps:

- Opened the Setup.ini file on the hard drive

Windows 8, "File: \BCD Error Code: 0xc0000034"

Good Day Everyone,

Trying to resolve this error:

I have a Window 8 recovery USB and a Windows 8.1 recovery USB both from another laptop...

Mine are 32 bit machines, if the laptop i am working on is 64 bit will it boot on my USB recovery that is from a 32 bit machine? My buddy doesn't know if this troubled laptop is 32 or 64 bit

When I use the recovery usb and try a refresh or a comlete format it comes back telling me the drive is locked and stops in its tracks.

Also from a the dos command window (from the recover usb advanced option section) i have tried the following with NO success...

Bootrec /fixmbr - successful but didn't help
Bootrec Fixboot - successful but didn't help
Bootrec - RebuildBCD - Goes off searching, comes back with 1> C:windows, I type Y to add it but it comes back with an error "The requested system device can not be found"

I also tried BCDboot c:\windows\ /s c: /l en-us - said it was successful but still didnt fix the boot problem.

So i am not sure if I am running into a 32 bit vs 64 bit issue or if i need to find a way to unlock my drive so the refresh will work?? Or...?????

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated!!

This is on an Acer Aspire V3-551

Recently whenever I've used an .exe installer I'll get an error as soon as I click start after choosing the directory, in the picture example I include below, it's of SA-MP, but it happens with any installer I try and use. Installers have worked previously, it's only recently it's stopped working.
The error is;
Error opening files for writing.

What I've tried;
-Full system scan with Comodo AV.
-Revealed hidden files and folders.
-Run the installer in both compatability (Even though it does work on Win7, and as an Administrator).
-Also done the scan on CMD (can't remember exact command).

If you need additional information, don't hesitate to ask.
Brief Info:
OS: Win7 Home Premium 64bit.

This occurs in Vista on a new Viao laptop when trying to run a proggy written for windows. Apparently Vista lacks csrastl.ocx which I have copied from this XP home machine and registered it in Vista windows/system32. The install proggy was deliberately modified to take account for this but the situation has now changed and that peeps is no longer available to help.

Is there a quick and easy answer?

A:Solved: Error 75 in RS Home, Path/File access error

I had a query up on another forum where this has been answered.

The software had been written for earlier versions of windows so Vista did not have an appropriate file in its registry. Copying, pasting and registering this file in Windows system32 with the AUC switched off and a modified proggy downloaded and installed has done the trick. This problem and another has kept me busy all the weekend.

Hi all,

Huge problem regarding permissions on my (massively unstable) PC. I try to run ANYTHING including .dlls with admin permissions and i get a nice little "ding", and error message regarding the relevent .dll and File system error -1073741792, including one just before I get to the logon screen (think it was called "WINMM.dll", which yes, is "microsoft mouse", but my mouse still appears to be working sooooo... confused... lol).

Also, when i try to system restore, I get an unspecified error, code (0x8000ffff). I don't get anymore info, it just apparently can't do it.

All this came about when i started my PC up after changing/installing NOTHING (since it last worked perfectly), and it randomly said the disk integrity of C: (64GB kingston SSD running the OS but no installed programs) had to be checked, before several black screens of text whizzed by, deleting and then repairing registry entries. It has done this once before, (completely different symptoms, but same root cause of this windows integrity checker thingy), but i fixed it by transferring my account files to a new account, deleting the old one, and presto, instant new admin profile with full permissions again, but problem is, what with nothing that requires admin status working, I can't create a new account this time.

If anything seems unclear about what I've just written, please ask, and I'll clarify, but I've been battling with this all day, and need to get some rest befor I ... Read more

Error 1310. Error writing to file c:\config.msi... verify that you have access to that directory.

A:Error 1310. Error writing to file c:\config.msi... verify

What you do when something like that pops up, like during an installer, is you Take Ownership of the folder or file - then click the box in the installer to try again.

You don't want to take ownership of all of C: though, so what you can do is place a dummy text file there, then rename it exactly as the problem file that can not be written. Take ownership of the dummy file (just for good measure). Now, the installer can overwrite it.

8 is a little different security-wise than previous operating systems, notably at root of drives like your example.

Adobe is famous for this issue when updating stuff like Reader, even on 7 and below.

You'll sometimes see similar errors pop up in other ways when trying to run software, like access violation, or 0x00000005. Sometimes, it's just a permission issue with some data it wants to access, crashing the software.

There are other advanced ways to give yourself (your Windows account) similar admin powers like 7 and below, using group policy editor.

Hi Guys,

I am trying to digitally sign an xml document using client software. the application has a ' digitally sign button' and when i click on it I am getting this message "Run time error '75' path/file access error"
The digital certificate is in a usb drive. I am using vista HOme edition 32 bit version on a dell laptop.

There is no problem with digital ceritifcate or usb drive because i can digitally sign msword docs individually. the problem occurs only while using client software. i had successfully used the same client software and USB in signing xml docs in windows XP on a HP machine before.

Can somebody please help me resolve this issue.

I really dont know the answer to this problem, but you could try a clean boot: Perform a clean startup to determine whether background programs are interfering with your game or program

and then digitally sing your document

I have a file in a folder called bla.exe

I copy a newer version to the folder

windows 7 asks me if I want to copy and replace the file

I say yes

Windows 7 says "error file is open in another program"

(it is in no way shape or form open in any program except for explorer!)

There is some kind of delayed file protection inside windows 7 that is not in windows XP nor vista.

in XP or vista you can copy and replace files with no problems.

I have searched and found several possible fixes that dont fix the problem:
1.) I set the advanced owner permisions to my whole C: drive to have the owner as Administrator instead of trusted installer

2.) UAC is off and I have set all basic permissions to full control on admin and on everyone

I read your question several times to make sure I am following you correctly.

What I am perceiving from what you are describing is that you are attempting to put two files of the same name in the same folder at the same time. Is this correct?

Normally it will create or allow the file to be in the same folder but will add a 2 to the end of the file.
such as bla.exe and bla(2).exe

I use Microsofts Visual Studio 2010 a lot and have created batch files for some programs I have worked on and only use Windows 7 most of the time.

I have not experienced the issues you speak of with being warned that the batch file is in use elsewhere on my system when I am working with a batch file.

If I am way off course here, sorry about my misunderstanding your question.

I've got some strange behavior going on with .doc files at the moment. Whenever I try to open a .doc file from Windows Explorer or a desktop shortcut, Word opens with the error message "Word experienced an error trying to open the file. Try these suggestions. * Check the file permissions for the document or drive. *Make sure there is sufficient free memory and disk space. *Open the file with the Text Recovery converter."

After clicking OK, the .doc file then opens in Word, apparently with no problems at all (I can edit, save, etc.). So basically the error message seems to be wrong, since the file does open properly.

I can open .doc files from within Word (File -> Open) with no error message.

The issue is more of an annoyance than anything else (since the file eventually opens up just fine), but I imagine it'll just become more irritating as time goes on. Any suggestions on how to resolve it? I've been poking around in the Folder Options -> File Types in Explorer without a clear sense of purpose.

I'm running MS Word 2003 SP3 on Windows XP Service Pack 3. If you need any further info, please let me know.

Thanks for your help!

Hello. I am using a POWER USER account, Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 /w all the latest patches availible via microsoft update. I was trying to create a .zip file of a folder within the primary directroy of a backup hard drive I use.

For Example:
D:\stuff - I wanted to make a zipfile of the folder "stuff."

Then I get the following error "Cannot Create Output File."

However, if I move the folder to the destop or a subdirectory i.e. stuff/more stuff, then the .zip file is created with no problems.

Also, because user accounts [at least in my experience] have a tendency to decay, I created a freash power user account and the same problem persist.

Is this a standard security feature for power user accounts? Is there anyway I can "disable" it if it is?

Thank You.

I have been trying to setup a postscript printer on port "File:" so I can print anything from a webpage to a file for running through Acrobat 8 Distiller. When I first install the print to file, it works fine until I reboot the computer. Every time I print to this printer after the reboot, I get a pop-up box titled "Local Port" with the message "Cannot Print to File: Access Denied". I gather it is a permission problem of some sort as I can log onto the Administrator user-id and it prints to file fine. Any ideas on what permissions I need to set this printer to in order for it to work under a standard user-id?

I have given up finding a solution to the problem. I no longer use Adobe Acrobat Professional full as I have tried both updates 8.0.1 & 8.0.2 to no avail, and is now unsupported as Adobe is up to version 9 of this software. I have opted for a freeware solution, so I have uninstalled Adobe Acrobat Professional and installed the freeware CUTEPDF Writer at It works beautifully on Vista X64 on all documents, including Microsoft Word and Scanned Images and Photos. Dell Dimension 8300, windows xp sp3.

Each attempt to install MS Works 2005, which was on the pc prior to format and install for teenaged reasons, results in the error listed above. (Those same teens were permitted to use the pc again, at my express discontent.)

Error 1305.Error reading form file: D:\MSWorks\Common\MSShared\msvcr71.dll

A search of MS knowledge base was a wasted effort!

A search of the DVD shows the file in a couple of spots, but not in that exact spot. (I had no problem installing this software the first time around, before the format and install.)

I do not want to format and install again. I only have so many installations on my purchased games from BigFish. As for the other purchased software, it would be a pain to have to install it all over.

Is there a way to trick the installer into finding the file? No, there is not a "browse" or "find" option when the error appears.

Side note: this pc was loaned to someone's parents while his nieces were visiting. Each had an account, but only the parents had an administrator account with a password. When I had to repair this once before, I told the parents that the girls needed restricted accounts so it would not happen again. The parents gave the password to them when they complained that they couldn't download anything. I asked them why they thought I had given the girls restricted accounts in the first place!

It's possible that your CD is corrupted, scratched, etc...and the file can't be read. In that case, you'll probably have to replace the disc if cleaning the surface of it doesn't help.

There's a couple files I have that I want to delete. I don't remember what they are, if I had to guess, I would say some remnants of an incomplete download based on their names. The files have no extension and have no size either.

Whenever I go to delete them, I get the following error:

Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disc

I don't know what's up with it, but it always gives that error. I've tried to see what renaming does, and it's worse. I cannot rename it, same error, except it says cannot rename. Because the rename stays active, when I double click rename, I actually have to use task manager and close windows explorer. Whenever I try to click off the name, it accepts as me changing it, even if it stayed the same, and brings up the error. It leaves the rename active after the message closes.

Any ideas? There's a couple of them and they're 0KB, so it's not a big deal. However, they do annoy me as they're in my downloads folder, and I use this folder probably the most of any other folder. Thanks guys.

Hello. I'm in desperate need to help with my HP envy dv6 7220us. I bought it in 2013 with Windows 8. Now since a few months it has Windows 10 (not sure if it's 32 bit or 64 bit). Full product name and serial number is "C2L31UA - 2CE2490B3J - HP ENVY dv6-7220us Notebook PC "Yesterday all of a sudden in the middle of a YouTube lecture, the screen went blue saying the PC ran into an error & would like to restart. And when it did the blue screen came up again saying NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM_ERROR or it would say FAT_FILE_SYSTEM_ERROR . I tried a few things from the forum here like someone suggesting to press CNTRL + F8 + F11 to get out of the vicious cycle but it did nothing. The only keys it responds to is ESC, f2 and f12 but even there it keeps going back to restarting into that blue error screen. Can anyone pleaseeeee help? I have my exam in a week and most of my course work & self made notes are on it (I didn't get a chance to back it up online, I had to last night & this happened). It's panicking mode now for me. Thanks a lot in advance.

I'm trying to install an MSI-file and get the error message "Error reading from file. (Then location of file) Verify that the file exists and that you can access it." How do I fix this? Thanks.

A:File install failure "error reading from file"

Hello, an .msi is a windows installer package and there is usually an error number when something like this goes wrong. It would also help if you provided the path to the 'missing' file and the location of the original .msi.

I'm currently in the process of copying files back from the cloud in the exact same location where I had them before and now it says that the file name is too long and prompts to see whether I want to skip the file or not. The error message given does not
give the full file name or the path so it is impossible to see which files were copied successfully or not. This never happened with XP! Then afterwards I found that some of the files with long names did copy successfully whereas others didn't. I find this
to be a very user unfriendly process and I'm totally confused! These are critical files and I'm sure I haven't exceeded 260 characters or whatever. This is soOoO frustrating!!

A:file copy error message not sufficient + file name too long will not copy

Hi ,

There is a limit of filename length within Windows Explorer. In the Windows API (with some exceptions discussed in the following paragraphs), the maximum length for a path is MAX_PATH, which
is defined as 260 characters.
The shell and the file system have different requirements. It is possible to create a path with the Windows API that the shell user interface is not able to interpret properly.
This means that your long filename can only be handled at the command prompt level and you cannot drag and drop an illegal length filename within Windows Explorer.

Please simplify your folders and titles.

More information, please check the part of Maximum Path Length Limitation in the link below. Cai

I have had my vista pc and my windows 7 (basic) net book setup to let me share files (through an Netgear DG834PN Route) for around 18 months with no problems.

However as of 3 days ago I can no longer do this and non of the network tools can fined or solve the problem. I can uses the internet though my rooter, see my vista pc on the network as well as the media streaming (windows one) thing.

I can also access my net book hard drive from my pc no problem and transfer/delete files as well?

When I do try to connect the following error message is given:
"Error code: 0x80070035
The network path was not found"

How can I fix this?
P.s. I know windows 7 basic has not create home group ability, but it worked with the one I made on vista. I can not afford to upgrade my copy of windows 7 so that is totally out of the question.

Welcome to SF,

Firewall might be the problem, you'll have to configure it to allow access to "trusted zone".
On some Firewalls or Security Software you might need to completely uninstall them.

I have an access 2003 database that calls a VB6 module. The module starts and then I get a run-time error 75 path/file access error. I can execute the vb module outside of access but I have to run as administrator for it to work correctly. What can I fix so that the call from access will execute? I believe the issue is with comctl32.ocx and the status bar control inside the vb module.

I am getting the following error when moving files on the same drive or from one to another:

"Error Moving File or Folder
Cannot remove folder (insert folder name here): The directory is not empty."

This is fairly common (once or twice a month) and it occurs usually with folders containing many subfolders when being moved by explorer gui "Move the selected items", or ctrl-x, ctrl-v . Repeated attempts through the same process seems to move the folders, but the errors increase as the concentration of stubborn folders increases.

There are no event viewer logs corresponding to these errors. (eventvwr.msc: system, or application)

I would have thought this would be a common problem, but extensive searches came up with nothing... so either it is rare, untroubling to others, extremely easy to fix, or my search queries suck. =)
I am going to run Checkdisk to make sure all is well there, and I will repost the likely failure.

A:"Error moving file or folder" "directory is not empty" one file left

Occasionally when I am deleting a file, it is difficult, I have to go through process explorer, search for the thread that is strangely(?) associated with that file in explorer (no reasonable dependencies could be linked, nor is the file being viewed), and kill the thread before deletion.

any thoughts?

Thanks =)

For about a week now, I haven't been able to open/run any programs on my Windows 7 laptop. Here is the timeline to the best of my memory:

- 6/11 (about): downloaded driver to fix scroll/touchpad that wasn't scrolling
- 6/20 (about): successfully replaced cpu fan
- "Bad Image - ...Loader.dll file missing" began appearing over and over
- All files/programs/shortcuts don't open. Just get same dll error
- 6/28: noticed "Windows 7 Build 7600, This copy of Windows is not genuine"
- Found 6-8 highly suspicious programs in Uninstall Programs (crossbrowser, cinestudio, speedsearch are the only ones I remember). We're most likely downloaded with touchpad driver. When I noticed the programs, I clicked Uninstall on all, but they were not uninstalled, but only removed from the list in Uninstall Programs.

I would greatly appreciate any help.

A:Repeating Error: "Bad Image.... Loaded.dll file contains an error"

(Also, I tried sfc /scannow. That found and fixed two problems. But the problem persists. I then tried a system restore. Only one previous restore date was shown as an option. When I tried to restore it, it was unsuccessful)

Could someone please advise how I can overcome a CRC file error please? I downloaded a file and tried to open it with Power Archiver. The attempt gave me this error message "There is a CRC error on file C:\Docume~1\D\locals~1\Temp\devicemanager.jpg. There are 2 jpeg files and one Explorer file in the download, the 2nd jpeg message also mentioned a CRC error but was slightly different and the Explorer error also referred to a CRC file error.

Do I have the problem, or does the error relate to a problem in the downloaded file? I have not come across this error before.

Is it possible to correct it?

I have a file on the server (archive.pst) that I can't open (in Outlook) so I want to delete this pst file (and replace it with a backup version).

Problem is, when I try to delete this file I get a "file is in use" error msg and I'm unable to do anything with this file.

I do not have Outlook running and I have also tried to access the file in Safe Mode (with network).

Any suggestions on what I can try to get rid of this file?

Firstly, hello. Im looking forward to becoming apart of this forum.

Well, heres my problem. When i try to play a game using the half-life2 engine
i get an error saying
C:\Windows\system32\MSVFW32.dll is either not designed to run on Windows
or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original
installation media or contact your system admin etc etc.

I am Admin of this laptop, and am the one and only user of it.

This also happens when i use MSN, i get this error, every time someone
messages me or when i message someone else.

By looking at this, i think its more than likely that my MSVFW32.dll is either
corrupted or something.

So what i tried to do first was download that .dll and try to put it in my
System32 folder. But, i did not succeed it said " you need permission to
perform this action" and i have two options " Try Again" "Cancel".

Well being me, if i dont succeed i Try again. After a few minutes of clicking
Try Again, i gave up and looked for another solution. I restarted the
laptop in safe mode, then tried to replace MSVFW32.dll with the one
i just downloaded. But, no luck at all, i recieved the same message.

Then i tried running sfc /scannow, when it reached 100% validating the
cmd just closed.

Then i tried RegSvr32 MSVFW32.dll and i received a message saying:

I may be wrong, but it looks to me that the site is expecting a zip file and not getting one since you are trying to upload the actual file. I'd try zipping it and see if that helps.

You can modify the way PDF is generated or produced if you manage or administrate software that generated PDFs automatically. For this, you must take care of the fact that no irrelevant bytes should appear before %PDF at head of PDF file.If it don't work the document is lost for good. I have VMware fusion 5.0.1 and I had an old virtual machine with windows xp on it which was very out of date. I deleted that virtual machine and added a new one which I booted with windows 7. I have purchased a computer based training program that will run only on PC. So I downloaded it and unzipped it, which made a new file on my desktop. There is a startup.bat file which when I run it, comes up with a 'can't find SCRMP.exe' file. It is in another subfolder included in the main program folder. I was told by the tech support for the program to locate the .exe file and run it individually. When I run it, it comes up with HTTP status error 403:forbidden. If I click continue it comes up with the registration page of the program where I can put in my registration code and if I click ok, it thinks for a while then says 'can't connect to the server'. I was told to turn off firewalls and virus protection so I have uninstalled the mcafee virus protection and turned off anything related to fire walls and windows defender. I am still having all the errors and was wondering if anyone would be able to steer me in the right direction as to how I could fix the problem. Windows 7 in a VM probably won't be patched and up to date unless you patched and updated it.

I have a very limited knowledge of VM's. I use a VM only on rare occassions however I suspect that the error you're getting is down to a missing Visual C++ package.

32bit version

Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) from Official Microsoft Download Center

64bit version

Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64) from Official Microsoft Download Center

Which one you need depends upon the program that you're tying to install - if it's 32 or 64 bit.

You might want to wait for confirmation or advice from other members as I'm not entirely sure if this is the correct solution!

The "You may view the installation log file at c:\documents and settings\. . ." is not an error message. It is simply a statement that (if you want) you can view the log created by the setup program. Does AutoCad run? If so, there's no problem. If not, have you tried uninstalling, then making sure ALL other programs are closed including your antivirus, then reinstalling?

A:DAT file error

A DAT file is the data file for the installation program. It is usually the compressed game files and some code for the installation. Yours sounds like the file is corrupt. If this is a downloaded game, I would try downloading it again. If it is off a diskette or CD, I would take it back where I got it. You may also be able to call the company and they may send you a new copy.

Good luck...
