Lenovo G580 repeated BSOD-ing

Q: Lenovo G580 repeated BSOD-ing

Recently bought a new Lenovo G580 to replace my old decrepit Toshiba. It worked fine for a couple of days, but suddenly started BSOD-ing as I began to use the laptop more and more.

I have noticed it is more susceptible to BSOD-ing when I am running Bit Torrent. Although it seems to wait until it strikes, luring me into a false sense of security and then crippling me.

I ran BlueScreenView, as I have seen many people mention it on various forums, including this one, and the such and it gave me these results. Sorry if this is not the accepted way of throwing out these results, but I am unsure what I am doing.

I have put it on here in its entirety but I dont really know what this is either. Download Dump file.txt from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

Posted on Reddit as well, but I have yet to receive any help there. :( Laptop keeps BSOD-ing. Think it may be torrent related. : techsupport

Pretty brain dead computer wise, so sorry if this is unreadable/invokes facepalms all round.

Any advice or help would be very much appreciated as I have no idea what I am doing. If all else fails I suppose I can send it back.

Thanks in advance.

My g580 ran out of battery while using it, and now it gets stuck on the lenovo logo. I tried a different hard drive which changed nothing, I've tested both hard drives on a different computer and they both work. However when I boot the laptop with no harddrive it will get past the logo go to a screen saying something about an unplugged cable then reset and get stuck on a blank screen.   If I plug in my windows recovery usb drive( and no harddrive) the the machine will boot normally and go to the windows installation screen. So any ideas on why a working harddrive would stop the system from booting? Also I've tried the whole taking out the battery unplugging it holding down the power key and then plugging it back in thing, did nothing.

I recently purchased a Y570 from Lenovo and have had it for about a month with it working great. I use my laptop for World of Warcraft and I've been very happy with its preformance so far. 2 days ago while searching a news website my computer crashed for no reason with a bsod titled "Bad pool header" upon restart I did the repair option, it went threw its thing for a bit told me to restart so I did then got hit with a bsod "memory manager" upon restart this time I started in safe mode and ran chkdsk.

It ran threw its whole thing had me restart I did and everything seemed ok. I put in a dvd watched about 2 hrs out it then it froze into a bsod which happened so fast I couldn't see the error message and restarted. Since then I have gotten tons of bsod's with either "memory manager" "bad pool header" or "page fault in nonpage area". Its gotten so bad if I start up normally it crashes. If I try the repair option it crashes. If I try safe mode i get to the login and it crashes. If I try safe mode sometimes it will do chkdsk which will either run all the way though restart and crash or crash upon chkdsk.

I've tried to find some help on the net and some people with similar errors have reported replacing the ram and its fixed the situation. Would this be possible for me to do? Id rather not send my laptop in if its something I can fix by replacing ram. Any thoughts? so far Lenovo has been 0 help, I tried postin... Read more

User is having repeated crashes on a Lenovo T450s. We can't figure out any one thing they are doing to cause it. So far it seems to happen while she is away from the computer and she comes back to the blue screen. One error hinted at the hard drive but so far all diagnostics say its fine. Only thing I see in event log is loss of power entries, but those seem to be from hard rebooting it to get BSOD cleared. Once it starts back up, it runs great until the next BSOD.

Odd thing is the capture tool stated no dumps were available. Attached the logs it generated.

Thanks!
Jim

A:BSOD - Repeated crashes on Lenovo T450s with no dump?

Hi Jimstigator,

Please check {windows partition}\windows\minidump and check if there are any dump files saved.
Please make sure your pc is configured for small dump files How to configure minidump | Windows 7 tutorial

Also, the attached zip file is missing a lot of files.
When there are dump files, please use the tool again and upload the zip file.

Hi Puneet,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing.

Firstly, Check BIOS? Sometimes a BIOS has fan speed controls.

This is normal as the game is running and full GPU is utilized, if the temp increases more than normal.  I suggest you to use the Laptop by placing it on a flat surface for good ventilation.

Please go through the below link to understand about Safe Temperature range for CPU?

Hello.

I have a Lenovo G580 with Windows 8. I have a weird problem with audio. If the default audio is set as internal speakers and I plug in my headphones the sound just keeps coming from the internal speakers. But if I set the headphones as default, I can switch between the speakers and headphones as I want and there is no problem if only I play music from my computer.

If I try to play something from my browser, however, the sound only comes from the internal speakers and connecting the headphones does nothing. Except (and this is where it gets weird) if I play something from my computer first using the headphones. Then I can play anything from the browser and hear it through the headphones as long as I don't plug them out. If I plug them out, the sound switches back to the internal speakers and trying to plug in the headphones again doesn't do anything. So I have to play something from my computer again with the headphones plugged in and then switch to my browser to again play everything through my headphones.

What's wrong with it? Any way to make it work as it should work?

Hello, The Problem:Recently I installed Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS  to my HDD in UEFI mode. Soon I found out that I could not access the BIOS using F2, but F12 allowed selection of boot device. Reinstalling Windows, I found out that the boot menu still had the Ubuntu entry and I still could not access the BIOS. I searched on the web for a solution and before I could manage to find a proper one, I managed to delete both the ubuntu and windows boot manager boot entries, still locked out of bios. This time I could not boot into any OS, could not access bios using f2 nor access boot menu using f12.  The Solution:There was one last hope, during boot I noticed that PXE (Boot via ethernet option was still showing).Note: This solution requires you to update the BIOS. This is a very risky procedure, so proceed with caution. This will also probably void your warranty. If you can access boot menu (F12) and want to regain access to the BIOS (F2), boot into Windows 7. Install a bios update for your laptop (specifically for your laptop) available at The Lenovo Support Site. The oldest BIOS (probably for Windows 7) is preffered. If you donot have access to windows 7, perform step 2 and boot into the created ISO by creating a bootable CD or pendrive. Then goto step 11.If you can't access F12 and F2, cannot boot into OS, but can boot via Ethernet (there should be a message about trying Atheros Ethernet PXE Boot during startup), start from step 1. To fix it, boot into Ubuntu (should be installed on the system), start Terminal and type in the following commands:sudo grub-install
sudo efibootmgr -b 0 -BReboot and F2 should work. BIOS should be accessible through F12>Tab>Setup also. Ubuntu will boot no more but can probably be fixed.

Hi,
My daughters laptop has me baffled. It started with a blank screen issue, which I solved with a system restore. (theres was nothing of importance on the hard drive) I did try taking the battery out and after replacing holding the start button for 30 seconds first.
All appeared fine untill I shut it down. There was a massive 186 windows updates to do, which was expected after rolling back so far...
The issue now is a I get this message on the screen "failure to configure updates, reverting changes. do not turn off you computer. I get stuck with this screen with no change, I even left it over night.
I haven't managed to find the safe boot option with this Win 8 machine, I tried the F8 key on start up but no joy.
Has anyone solved this problem before?
Thanks in advance

A:Lenovo G580 screen goes white display

hi sameerjha28,
Welcome to Lenovo Forums!

?
You can try doing this:
-Turn off the computer.
-Unplug AC Adapter and remove the battery.
- Hold the Power button Down for at least 10-15 seconds, Then try reconnecting the AC adapter only and leave the battery out, turn it ON and see if it will make any difference.
- If it powered on Try it with the battery and check if it would still turn on properly.
?
If the above steps did not work Try an external monitor and check if it works there.

I would suggest Contact Lenovo Technical Support for service if the steps above did not help.

?
Hope this helps,

Hi there all, Recently I got a Lenovo G580 (2189).Because I need WiDi (wireless display) options I bought a Intel Centrino Advanced-N6230 wireless card. After installing this hardware an error showed up at the startup: error 1802 ... unauthorized etc etc. I did not know about Lenovo - Bios and whitelisting hardware. Anyway this simple question remains. Which Intel Wirelesscard can I use with this laptop in order to work properly.Cause I don't want to hack the bios Cheers,Marlon

A:Lenovo G580 replacing wirelesscard not succesful -...

Hello and welcome,

I'm more familiar with ThinkPads, so please double-check anything you read in this post...

The problem with the white list is that a wireless card has to have a Lenovo FRU number.  It isn't sufficient to be an Intel XYZ board, it has to be an XYZ with the firmware ( the PCI subsystem ID) modified for Lenovo.  Reputable vendors will list the FRU if the board will play nice with the white list.

Take a look at the hardware maintenance manual for the G580, page 102l.  It lists an Intel 6150NX with an FRU # of 20002543.

Lenovo G480, G485, G580, G585, G780 Hardware Maintenance Manual (English)

As I said, this isn't my field of expertise (if there is one...) but maybe this will at least get you started.

Hi all,is there a way to order new original sticker for Lenovo G580 (like this one on picture)?I have new, very good G580 laptop (model 20150) and I am very satisfied. I replaced the CPU and put the new i7 3610QM in it, 8GB of RAM and SSD. The only thing that tore and which bothers me is sticker. xDIf anyone from Lenovo can help me with this, I would be grateful.

A:Lenovo G580 - where to order original sticker?

Hi Wind,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

It really feels something amazing when people are concerned about stickers more than issue. I can honestly say that i haven't tried it. However if you asked me to guess I would suggest you to contact the nearest service center for futher assistance.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

Regards,
Shashi Kumar

Just started happening this week.   It's stuck at the boot screen "lenovo".   I tried many different methods like removing battery, holding power button to reset, etc.  The *only* way to get it to boot is the remove memory card, and put it back.  Then it will boot up fine.     It might then boot fine for the rest of the day.  But then the next day (or after being shutdown for a while), it happens again so i have to remove memory card, put it back, etc.  What could be the problem here ?  I tried both memory slots.  So i don't think it's particular to one slot.

My rule of thumb with BIOS updates is "if it is not broke, do not try to fix it" because there is always an inherent risk that a BIOS update can fail, and if so, leave  the system bricked (dead) requirnig a new motherboard, and there does not appear to be anything in the latest updates readme.txt other than specific fixes for Windows 8.1... So I would hold off. Summary of changes

A:Lenovo G580 Windows 10 ACPI Driver not installing?

hi acemod13,

I looked at the Lenovo Energy Management driver for Windows 10 and upon observing the installer behavior, it extract the ACPI driver files (58KB) to C:\ProgramData\Lenovo\ACPIDriver (this may explain why the installer closes right after extracting).

If you're seing an Unknown Device in the Device Manager with an ACPI hardware ID (see image below) then try to update the driver manually and point it to the C:\ProgramData\Lenovo\ACPIDriver folder
 - Sample image

If you're unable to see the driver files, I've uploaded them here.

Let me know how it goes.

Hello All,

My Lenovo Laptop, Lenovo G580 Model 2189, was upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Up until then I had been using Lenovo Solutions Center (LSC) and the Backup utility within it.

Now post the upgrade the Backup option has disappeared from the LSC. I am running LSC Version 2.8.

I upgraded to LSC 3.x after reading somewhere that I should do this if I have upgradred to Windows 10. Then the only option I got was the periodic hardware scan for problems. So I downgraded again to LSC 2.8.

Will LSC Backup work under Windows 10 ?
Is there a Windows 10 version of LSC I can download that does have the backup option ?

Thanks All
John.

Hi

I got a new Lenovo G580 laptop which did not come with any pre-installed OS. I installed Ubuntu in UEFI mode (I had not disabled UEFI/Secure Boot). Later I installed Windows 7. During installation it asked me to format the entire format as it did not recognize the GPT partition. Accordingly without thinking twice I erased the entire HDD and installed Windows 7. Now I am unable to enter into BIOS

Things I have tried:
Tried with F2, F1 and Delete keys while booting
Tried removing the battery and booting while pressing the above keys individually
Tried removing the battery and adapter, held the power button for 1 minute
Tried removing the battery and held the power button for 1 minute while the adapter was plugged in
Tried pressing F12 and going to the APP MENU but I can only see "Diagnostic Splash" Nothing else and in that diagnostic splash screen I see that the System BIOS is "shadowed"
How can i gain access to BIOS so I can disable UEFI and install Win 7 and Ubuntu side by side

I bought my Lenovo G580 more than 3 years ago, and it came with Windows 8.
For a certain reason, my coworker installed on it windows 7.
I tried to restore it to the original image by using the Novo OneKey Rescue button next to the power button... but unfortunately it didn't work... when i press the Novo button, four (4) choices appear on the screen:
- Normal Setup
- BIOS Setup
- Boot Menu
- System Recovery
When i press "System Recovery", windows 7 starts normally without recovering anything...
Is there any way to restore my Laptop to the original factory software???
Thank you in advance...

A:G580 - Lenovo OneKey Rescue button is not working ...

Your One Key Recovery (OKR) button is working, but most likely the recovery partition that contained the necessary files was removed or destroyed during the install of Windows 7.You have a couple of options:1. Contact Lenovo Support by phone, ask if the recovery DVD's are still available and purchase them, it is a reasonable price...2. Purchase the retail DVD of Windows (7, 8.1 or 10) and perform a fresh install.3. Pick a Linux version you like - download and burn to DVD, then install from media.I personally use Windows 10 Pro and Linux Mint (Dual Boot) on my G580 with no hardware issues in either OS... Really like some of the applications that Linux has, and the fact that it is completely free to use.Good luck.CB

Im not native english speaker, sry if u cant understand some parts. Ill try my best to make my message clear so eventual will come easier.

This problem occurs for quite some time, its rather calm since few weeks when I downloaded shitload of new drivers and some other lenovo stuff but might be just coincedence. Since this issue doesnt want to go away itself I have to do something about it. I can send it to Lenovo for free service anymore so Id like to ask some experts if theres something I can do to fix this issue.

Some info:
- occurs usually while typing or other stuff, but few times my laptop literally went nuts and flashed black screens few times a sec, no matter if i touched it or not

- its not overheating, i bought cooling pad and it didnt help much

- can happen just after turning laptop on and not happen during 10h+ session

Thank you in advance.

Work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 which will uncover most problems. Report back results as there may be other steps indicated.

Why did you install all of these other drivers? Did you already have performance problems or just create them?

Do you have a System Restore point still available before this problem began?

What else have you installed? Please post back as screenshot of Control Panel's Programs and Features after maximizing the page, using the Snipping Tool from Start Menu: Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums - Windows 7 Forums

hi adarsh_savant,

I think you may have concern in this thread,
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Essential/G580-Bios-update-problem/m-p/1199186/highlight...

Here the suggested solution from neokenchi that helped.

1. Boot into the BIOS by repeatedly tapping F2 on startup

2. In the BIOS, navigate to the Boot Tab and set UEFI to Disabled or Legacy then press F10 to save and exit. When
the computer reboots, check if you still get the errors and/or if you're able to boot into Windows.

3. If same problem, leave the changes that you made on Step 2 and attempt to re-install Windows via a Windows 8 recovery drive or OneKey Recovery button (note that this will wipe the computer to factory settings)

Hope this helps,
Cheers!

Hello. I have a Lenovo G580 Notebook with Windows 10 installed. The issue is that the Windows hotkeys, that is Windows key and other letter combinations, aren't working. For example, normally, if I press Windows key + I, then the Settings app should open up or if I press Windows key + R, then Run should open up. But the Start screen opens up instead in all such cases.

This is happening since I have updated the Synaptics touchpad driver via Windows Update. If I uninstall the driver, then the hotkeys start working again. But as soon as I install the driver, they stop working. This was not happening with Windows 10 before, even when the Synaptics driver was installed. It has suddenly started happening couple of months ago. Also I cannot completely uninstall the Synaptics driver because my laptop came with it itself nor can I stop the driver from updating as it is an important driver and it needs to be updated to be compatible with Windows 10.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

A:Windows hotkeys not working on Lenovo G580 Notebook (Windows 10).

If you PM me your email address I will send you a link to the Synaptics driver that works for me. Then you will have to use the HideUpdate hotfix to keep Windows update from changing it.

Hello,

Since getting this computer I have had issues. After running Windows updates, I started getting consistent BSOD. I rolled back the updates and turned off updating for awhile, but recently decided to give them a try again. Once again, I can hardly run the computer, let alone do anything demanding, without crashing in BSOD.

Hello, good nights.
Well first of all, i did read almost all the other threads in the forum that point to a BSoD, and well, uhm.. here's my story.
I first was having windows xp proffesional and i didn't have any problem, until i installed that famous "amd x2 optimizer" because i own a athlon x2 64 5000+ BE, wich came with bioshock game.
Afterwards i started getting those annoying BSoD.
I found the same thread here, about one person that had the same problem, so i deleted the amd stuff.
I was happy until one morning a BSoD suprised me, i just had no chance but to format and thats what i did.

I just installed a copy of windows xp x64 bits on my computer today, and resently i just had one BSoD, i can't read what it appears before it restarts, and well, i just have the dump file on the minidump folder its just that i cant understand it very well.
My computer it's almost new, bought it last month, i mean, i bought the pieces and i installed them all along.
please help, i don't know what else to do.

My system has just suddenly become very unstable. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit which was installed at least 18 months ago and has been stable until now. I have not added anything new to the system for some time.

I suspect the problem is to do with the Intel RAID Controller as I have spotted iaStorV.sys on the blue screen, but I don't know how to fix this. I am afraid to disable this service as my OS is installed on a RAID, so suspect it won't boot at all if I mess with it.

Any suggestions?

Hi JBone and Welcome.

Your latest dump file lists iaStorV.sys as the probable cause.
Old and incompatible drivers can and do cause issues with Windows 7, often giving false error codes.

As a Priority:

ASACPI.sys Mon Mar 28 03:30:36 2005 This driver is notorious for causing BSOD's. There is an update here: Asus ATK0110 driver. Look under the sub-heading: Utilities. Approx. 12th one down.

sptd.sys Sun Oct 11 21:55:14 2009 The sptd.sys driver is notorious for causing BSOD's with Windows 7. It's a driver used and installed along with Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120 which you'll also have to uninstall.

I have a Dell Inspiron Core i5 7559 laptop, purchased Dec 15. For the past couple of months I’ve been getting a lot of BSOD. Several times the screen has blacked out and won’t respond and I have to power off. Decided to refresh Windows 10 but first made a recovery thumb drive. Refresh failed, another blue screen. Did a Win10 install using recovery thumb drive. I have updated all drivers/programs from both Dell and Microsoft, plus the BIOS. Screen print below of event log summary. Have performed diagnostics on the Dell site, and by pressing the F12 key at boot and performing diagnostics, everything passed.

Also, recently I discovered that if I unplug the power cord from the computer when it is running it will BlueScreen and reboot, message when this happens is Kernal_Security_Check_Failure.

Needless to say I need help.

Hi harrisfl,
I’d advise that you load defaults in the BIOS. Please follow the steps mentioned below to load the BIOS to defaults and then run the diagnostics again on the system.

Reboot the computer.
When prompted during POST, press the <F2> key to enter the setup screen.
On the System Setup screen, press the <F9> key.
Press the <Enter> key on Yes to Load Optimized Defaults and restart the computer.

Also, please follow the steps mentioned below to run the diagnostics.

Open the link http://dell.to/14YjKb2
Click on Diagnostic tab
Under ‘Test a specific device or create a custom test’
Select ‘Blue Screen Analyzer’.
Click on ‘Test selected device’.
Let me know the results.

I've never been able to get this machine working right after I built it back in 2009 and as a consequence, it sat unused until about a month ago. After dusting it off and getting all the intervening Vista updates, I thought the problems were resolved, but it's back to its old troubles again. Typically, the machine will initially fail to boot, saying it didn't shut down properly, but will then start up and run fine (at least not BSOD).

I'm not sure if installing SP2 has been the cause of anything, but the problems appear to have gotten worse after that update ran earlier this week. Last night I got a BSOD after the machine failed to come out of sleep mode and this morning I got multiple BSODs in quick succession.

Personally, the first thing I would do, if you can get it to boot successfully, is to download and install Microsoft Security Essentials and run a scan on the system. This might not have anything to do with your problem.

If you can boot it, do you see any problems in Device Manager?

If you go into Control Panel\Administrative Tools\Services, is Desktop Window... started?

Are all the fans running fine on your cpu and gpu?

Try reinstalling the motherboard drivers.

The reports that are generated are rarely definitive, but give clues. Your reports gave different clues, but one was fairly consisitent, indicating hardware problem.
I would start there. Here is our best post on CODE 124, which was the most common code generated by your BSODs

OK, so recently our family PC (HP Pavilion slimline) has been acting up - BSOD on multiple occasions, sometimes so frequent we couldn't use the PC at all.

Usually we switch it all off - leave it for about 12 hours and then next time we turn it on (first in safe mode, then restart normally if all ok) windows tells us it's recovered from something.

Additional information:

The PC runs very slowly now

When we turn it on, we are asked to select an OS (although we only have one) - a Choice between Vista (recovered) and another I can't remember, but something to do with settings.

Have had a few minor viruses before, but should have been cleared up. Now using BtNetprotect + anti-virus

System Info:

Vista Home premium x64
OEM
About 2/3 years old
Never reinstalled windows since purchase

Dump/performance info:

Attached as Zip files as requested in sticky

Any help would be wonderful. We considered a factory reset until we turned it on again today and it once again said it had recovered. Been ok so far (in use for an hour or so)

My Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit Lenovo T430 laptop has started crashing regularly, sometimes back to back 3 or 4 times, sometimes will go several hours. I learned how to get into the minidumps but they all seem to say different things. It doesn't always generate them, either. Hoping someone is familiar enough with how to read them to see a common theme and advise. IT Support at my employer just wants to issue a new laptop but I'm dreading having to re-install everything, hoping it's bad memory or something. Thanks for any help. SF diagnostic zip attached.

A:Repeated BSOD's and not sure of cause

So of the random messages I find in the minidumps, would it be safe to say that the following indicates a likely hardware issue with the memory? I've asked support at my company to swap out the 8GB of RAM first since it is a simple test to rule in/out a problem with the memory.

Hi thereMy laptop keeps experiencing a bluescreen several minutes after booting up. It was working fine up until about an hour ago. I set it to sleep while I had a shower, and when I came back, I had to fully reboot it as if it had shut down. It seemed to work fine for few minutes after it had finished booting, at which point it displayed a BSOD, then restarted. It now just keeps doing this when I boot it up normally, so currently its sitting in safe mode running a virus scan with MBAMThe details for the BSOD are;Problem SignatureProblem event name: Bluescreenos version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.3locale ID: 1033Additonal infomation about the problemBCCode - 1000008eBCP1 - C0000005BCP2 - 839BE487BCP3 - B6A8D764BCP4 - 00000000OS Version - 6_1_7600Service pack 0_0Product - 768_1Any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated (Sorry if this has been asked before)

I have a Dell M1330 w/ Vista Home Premium 32bit and started having repeated Blue Screens about 2 weeks ago.

Any ideas? This is getting really disruptive and I can't get any work done. I think it started when I tried to download some updated drivers from Dell. I don't even think I actually installed the update because when I tried to find the downloaded zip file with the drivers and other updates I couldn't find it. But it may have installed itself automatically or something.

thanks

A:Repeated BSOD

right click my computer and selet properties , then click advanced system settings on the left , click settings under the startup and recovery tab , uncheck the automatically restart option and hit apply (this is just to make sure we get a proper dump file)

goto your windows folder on your c drive , in there there is a folder called minidump , look in that folder after your next bluescreen there will be a file there , if you can make that file available for download i can take a look at it for you and see if i can isolate the problem.

make sure that when windows bluescreens you wait for the memory dump to finish before restarting.

incidently i see alot of Dell users having trouble with the repair function on their PC's , seems about time somebody gave Dell a kick in the preverbials and they got it sorted

I've Been getting a BSOD for about 2 weeks now. It originally started when I played games online, but has since moved to any game (online or off), and is now to the point of random crashes. Restarting the computer is impossible if i don't wait for roughly half an hour after a crash. The computer will get stuck at various points of starting up. (It doesn't freeze, but doesn't continue on to the next point of loading windows either)
I'm hoping there is a way to fix this without a re-install of windows since I am currently out of town for an extended business trip and my Disk is packed away in storage until I return.
I have no idea were to even start looking for the problem, please help.

A:Repeated BSOD, please help

While it varies, the crashdumps of most concern show what is the cause of all of them. While Windows was attempting to utilize the paging file, it suddenly lost connection to the hard drive holding the paging file.

This kind of behavior is typically is commonly caused by the hard drive itself dying, or an issue with the hard drive controller. Due to the progressively degrading instability of your PC, I am more leaning on the hard drive itself as the cause. You will need to try and recover as much as possible from the drive and replace it.

You'll have to pardon me if I forget something here as this is my second time posting (my computer blue screened during my first attempt).

Over the past few days I have received three different blue screen errors: PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA, MEMORY MANAGEMENT, and SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION. I have been looking into them and trying to update all my drivers in an attempt to solve the problem but to no avail. More often than not, I get a blue screen during an update and am forced to restart it. The errors occur seemingly at random; I could be doing any one of a hundred things when I get a blue screen. This is making it extra frustrating as I do not understand the root of the issue.

I am attaching the information listed in the forum sticky and hope that I have not missed anything. I know next to nothing about the information contained in the dump files and am hoping that someone can help me pinpoint the issue(s). Thanks.

Basic System Specs:

-Windows 7 Premium Home x64
-retail version bought in spring of 2011 (original install)
-Intel Core i7
-MSI X58A-GD65 motherboard
-NVDIA GeForce GTX 470 graphics card
-12GB Corsair RAM

A:Repeated BSOD - Various Errors

These crashes were caused by memory corruption/exception (probably a driver).
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

* If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

* If you have raid update its Driver.
Memtest.

Quote:
*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Driver verifier

Quote:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you... Read more

Hi All

For some time now I have been experiancing BSOD and they have been at ramdom events, for example if I am playing Shogan Total War 2 and in a Battle scene it will happen plus if I am running a program over night or downloading something but nothing else it will still happen.

When I did witness one last time it had the word "Memory Management" at the top of the screen before the PC rebooted.

I have attached some files that other posts have been asked for as well but any help here would be appreciated !

Cheers

Paul

Most recent crash is blamed on memory management please run these two tests.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Hi All,

Purchased my 3xs Overclocked bundle a few weeks ago, and have had nothing but poroblems with BSOD's. Finally after weeks of trouble shooting i have RMA'd to Scan, who have done their initial test and have come back with NFF. They are now getting their system builders to stress test the system.

Have posted in their forum, had lots of views but no one has a thought on the potential cause, so im checking here.

Basically im wondering if the PS( Tagan 580w) or my GTX 260 could be causing these problems? they are the only two parts of the build that are not brand new (although less than a year)?

Read on for the full story.....

Upon installing windows 7 home, i immediately started to get the following BSODís

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
One about HAL Dang that 2001 computer!
and;

clock interrupt not received on secondary processor within allocated time limit

The crashes were happening at random, and even not a load, i looked at the CPU Temps and they seemed fine Idle;

43 for CPU and 30 for MB

When stress testing with prime 95, CPU hits around 72 and MB 60.

I took the side off the thing and had good airflow with fan to keep it cool and it still BSOD's and mobo still gets to 60+

Assuming it was the Overclock making things unstable, (or so i thought) I then put it back to the stock settings, and it seemed to be stable for a day or two

I was happy at that point to forgo the O/C for a nice stable PC.

Sometimes it freezes and stop working, especially when I'm watching something on youtube or I'm doing something related to graphic.

I tried to reinstall windows 7, to update all the drivers, to clean install graphic drivers (with driver sweeper) but I still have this problem.

Thanks in advance

Hello,

Most likely, the physical graphics card is at fault here. Do you have onboard graphics you can try?

I have had several BSOD incidents during the last days and I have not been able to fix the issue(s). I am using Windows Vista Ultimate 64 SP2, which is updated, on the 15th I installed new Nvidea driver 191.07. I have rolled back the Nvidea driver and got the last BSOD while doing so. I have subsequentlly reinstalled the display adapter driver 191.07. Maleware scans have so far been negative.

The problem has occured mostly at night when I have been listening to an audiobook. The Only BSOD that have occured when I have been at the computer is the second incident. At that time I was opening up Goggle Earth and using Winamp. The last incident I was playing audio files using Creative MediaSource 5.

The curious thing is that the computer doesn't reboot after a these events, but instead freezes at the BIOS load screen, and the reset button and power button then don't work, so I have to manually cut the power. After this I can boot the computer and it don't hang at the BIOS load screen then and loads the OS after the customary questi... Read more

I would first check that you have the latest mobo bios version. Both americanmega trends and awardphoenix have bios upgrades specifically for series 8 nvidia cards. Try that first.

I have an HP Pavilion DV7 notebook PC, running 64-by windows 7, that I had someone set up for me, and they partitioned the drive into three drives, the C: drive, with the programs, the D: drive, a recovery drive I don't really understand and never got into, and the B: Drive, where all my media files can go. This person underestimated how much space I would need on C: Drive, and ever since I've been shuffling things around trying to make it workable, deleting files, uninstalling programs, etc.…

One thing I've been doing is creating mklinks between C: drive and B: Drive, shuffling (what I thought were unnecessary) folders to B: Drive, and linking them back to C:, such as iTunes libraries, phone backups, things like that.

This had previously worked out fine, but today I might've gone a step too far. After running WinDirStat, I found Winsxs, a folder that some online research told me it was for windows updates. My (probably na?ve, probably stupid) assumption was that the folder wasn't necessary except when updating Windows, so I moved it to B: drive and was about to create an mklink to the folder, but the the move paused halfway (the files were in use, which probably should probably been a clue). I went to move the files back, but there wasn't enough space on C:drive, a perennial problem, so I restarted the computer, thinking it would clear some space.

It BSOD'd on start-up, and has every time since, error message: STOP: 0x000000f4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA8015A30... Read more

Hi,

I need help with debugging the BSOD's I've started to receive on my system for the past 2 weeks. They have been on the following dates:

24th June, 1st July, 4th July, and 5th July (today) and thus have started to come with increasing regularity.

The OS on my system is the preloaded Windows 7 from Lenovo, which I started using on the 11th of June.

Here are my system specifications:

? OS - Vista/ Windows 7 ? - Windows 7
? x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? - x64
? What was original installed OS on system? Windows 7 Professional x64 (this is the original preload)
? Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)? OEM version
? Age of system (hardware) - less than a month
? Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? - no I have not reinstalled the OS, this is the OEM preload

? CPU - Core i7-2760M
? Video Card - Nvidia Quadro 1000m
? MotherBoard - Lenovo W520
? Power Supply - brand & wattage - this is a laptop

? System Manufacturer - Lenovo
? Exact model number (if laptop, check label on bottom) - Lenovo W520 42763KU

I've attached the perfmon report, and the 'Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2' report as instructed in the stickied post.

Please help!

Edit: Added 4 dump files from minidump folder. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

A:Repeated BSOD's - about once a day on new hardware

Analysis:Crashes are indicating driver issues. One blamed USB, two blamed graphics/DirectX installations, and one blamed network drivers. I do note that you have both your NVIDIA graphics drivers and your Intel graphics drivers loaded. Try disabling the Intel graphics drivers through device manager: Start Menu -> Right Click Computer -> Manage -> Device Manager (from the list on the left) -> Display adapters.
