Q: HP Envy desktop Error message Critical Path error. Repair li...

Unit keeps going into critial pathway error loop. Blue screen followed by black screen. Restarts are not working. Had unit scrub by my IT. was working and now issue is back. Is this a processor issue?HP use to be good. This this is a piece! I bought this as a replacement for our older HP. it was great no problem just slower. Totally regreat that move. This is the loaded unit. Bought this from Best Buy. They use to be good? What the hell????Inferior service selling an inferior product is not a winning formula. If someone out there has a fix I am all ears! Here is a list of what does not work:Control escape to repair mode.Restart.Getting unit diagnosis and having scrubbed. ( All this did was remove my 365...)Repair mode.Repairmode advanced.HP customer care..... (All they want to do is sell you additional stuff. Not great at all HP).If I can't get this fixed I am planning on letting everyone know what has happened and how bad HP has dropped the ball.

I recently have been getting the Error message Windows has encountered a critical error and will close in one minute.
I do not have the Brazilian financial Active X control that became corrupted, or if I do, I cannot find it. I have Vista 32-bit on an Acer Aspire laptop. This message comes up after I login and I can either access the Internet via Safe mode w/Networking, or do a System Restore, at which time the laptop works for about two or three times and then the error message comes back.
Do I have a bug? Please help!!!!

A:Error Message 0x80070005 critical error - windows will close in one minute

I followed the preparation guide and when I tried to run dds.scr, the black screen came up really fast and then disappeared and nothing ever came up. When I tried to run RootRepeal.exe, I was able to tell it to scan, but then I never received a report. When I tried to run it again, it said that I didn't have permission, and when I tried to delete it, it said the same thing! I am the administrator...I have Vista 32bit and I am getting the error code 0x80070005 windows has encountered a critical error and will now close. I run system restore to get it to stop, but that only works a few times, and then I get the error message again.
What do I do now??

Hello

whenever I sign in to my user account I get a blue window with a critical error message......saying Start menu and cortana aren't working ( I have cortana turns off in options anyway ) then it says we will try and fix it next time you sign in, with the only option to sign out.....this happens every time I start the PC up, but OK after signing out and in again , is it anything to do with shutup10 that I ran recently, although it's not affecting my windows 10 laptop.

thanks

You could try this fix http://www.dell.com/support/article/...9/SLN299201/EN

Sign in in safe mode with networking, then sign off and sign in normally...

I have a big problem in my hands, Please, Help me solve it.
So, here it is:

I installed Windows 7068 in my Asus G2s Notebook, and everything worked just fine for like 2 months. But, the 7100 version was released, and i wanted it, so i backed some important files up, and formatted my computer. The installation was fine, but, when i was restoring my files from the backup, there was a particular file that wouldn't copy.

It is Fallout 3.iso file. I tried copying it like, 10 times, and everytime i tried to copy, it would stop at 2.4gb +-. After it stopped, explorer wouldnt respond, and its process couldn't be finalized. So, the only solution was to shut down the computer. I tried many things, to see if i could solve the problem (without any sucess)

-Gave full permission to the Folder and Hard Drive
-Tried to copy the file inside the HD and copy it again to my hard drive, but even copying inside the HD, it would stop at 2.4gb.
-Tried many other things, with no sucess.

Until i tried it on my mom's XP Notebook. I copied it, and on 2.4 GB it would say : Cannot copy Fallout3.iso Path is too Deep

Tried everything, but none of it worked.

Please help me, i'm desperate.

Note: Fallout 3 is on a External 2.5 Hard Drive
Note2: The file weigh's 5.52 GB

Helpful note: I'm trying to copy the file from:
E:\Fallout 3.iso
To:
C:\Users\Alex\Desktop

Thank you very much, i really want your help.
Alex.

A:Path is too Deep : Error Message

That last error message is odd, it's almost like the copy is actually looking INSIDE the iso for some reason as it is copying, as if it were copying a folder.

It is (and always has been) easy to programatically create a path longer than the windows UI can handle. It's entirely possible that a long path was put into the ISO purposely to prevent copying (though I still don't know why the windows UI would be looking into the iso)

I guess you have tried copying it from the command line?

Might also try renaming the file to a.b and then try copying that to c:\ and renaming it back...

Or use another file copy tool and not windows itself to copy it.

Is there any DOS base command or third partysoftware that i can use to copy the folder. I have used Long Path Tool for removing error message. Do you tired to using it ?Which software you have used ?

A:got path too long error message. Why ?

What was the error message?Command Prompt can be used to copy a folder if for some reason you need to use it, press Windows Key + R and type cmd.exe in the Run box - hit Enter key.EDIT: In Command Prompt (which is a DOS emulator) type copy /? and it will give you the various switches that go with it - some commands differ slightly from true old style DOS but work in much the same way.Your question is not fully explained hence the above is all I can suggest.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanksmessage edited by Derek

Hi, everybody. I downloaded Windows 10 from the the Microsoft site, because I had reserved a free copy. I had Window 8.1 before this.

Up till now, it seems that most things worked fine. I tweaked it a little and allowed the new program to "get used to my desktop." After first being unable to transfer stuff over, Windows 10 finally began complying with requests for switching things, etc.

A brand-new problem has begun with the Start icon, which is the Micro "flag" at the lower left of the screen. Every time I hit it in order to sign off, I get a message..... "Critical Error. Your Start Menu button isn't working. We'll try to fix it the next time you sign in." It offers me a box to sign off within the error message, fortunately. I went on line and found that a number of people are experiencing this same problem. And many of their concerns are directed to others in the Microsoft Community website. By the way, it doesn't happen all the time, only most of the time. When it doesn't happen, it seems to be because I've cleared by temporary files, emptied my trash bin, and deleted the adware that has accumulated with each use. If I'm lucky, that is.

Another thing I've noticed. I use Superantispyware, among other malware detectors. I've used it for XP, 8.1 and now 10. Each time it has picked up a bit more adware and minor spyware. But, recently, I have found that when I'm done PC-ing and ready to shut down, af... Read more

Every time the computer is turned on or restarted it runs Starup Repair. When i look at the diagnosis it says 'boot critical file c:\ci.dll is corrupt'. I have already tried to restore the computer but i don't have the discs where i have backed up the computer. I have also run a virus scan with Avira and it did pick up 4 viruses and i removed them but the error still occurs. If someone could help me and give me guidance it'll be much appreciated.

A:Startup Repair error : Boot critical file c:\ci.dll is corrupted

After the PC tries the start up repair, select advanced options. From there you should be able to access CMD.

Once you get CMD open run this command. sfc /scannow -This will scan the integrity of all protected system files and repairs the system files if needed.

Hi,

I`m having a problem for the past few days now. After hours and hours of google time, I`m still have not found a solution.
Whenever I click a newly downloaded .exe file or try to do anything on my system that requires to be admin i get an error message:
:Windows cannot find the specified path or file. You may not have permission ... "
I am logged on as an admin and for 2-3 month since i have the laptop I had no issues.
I read some articles pointing to malware/virus issues, so i did what i read here as well, re-booted in safe mode, downloaded and run the following programs:
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition
I had AVG installed, but seemed corrupt, couldn`t disable it as i would have needed admin privilages, and could not uninstall it as the uninstaller gave me some error message as well, so i manually had to delete it, but that still didn`t solve my problem

When i try to reboot and go on normal mode it`s the same thing.
I really would like to avoid re-installing my OS.

thanks
Mike

A:(Resolved) Critical Error Message

One or two links here indicate there may be conflcts with installed programs, for example gravis.

http://groups.google.com/groups?q="CoInitialize(NULL)+failed+&hl=en

You can also try disabling dma mode in the cd-rom device manager properties>settings page, although it did not work for one person who tried it. It does sometimes resolve install problems.

Check with the vendor's support to see if there are any known install conflicts that would produce that error.

I was on my laptop today when I got a blue screen and my wallpaper changed to say that I have a critical warning. The exact desktop message reads: "YOUR SYSTEM IS INFECTED! System has been stopped due to a serious malfunction. Spyware activity has been detected. It is recommended to use spyware removal tool to prevent data loss. Do not use the computer before all spyware removed."I managed to get rid of the desktop message (using AntiVir until the scan stopped for no apparent reason. The scan did not complete and I can't get it to scan again.) Under Desktop, the "critical_warning" file still appears in the list. The current wallpaper is the blue screen without the message written out above and I can't change it because this Desktop/Background page is locked up.My homepage was changed (to google, oddly). I cannot access system restore, nor can I use Malewarebytes or other antivirus programs because I get a message that reads: "Windows cannot access the specified file. You may not have permissions to access the item." I have AntiVir PE Classic, which also won't fully run (it starts scanning, then stops).Fortunately, I have a desktop so that I can post here and try to resolve the problem. Would someone please walk me through fixing this problem? Thank you very much!Edit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

A:Messenger Service: Critical Error Message!

Do the pop up advertisements look like the one in the example shown here? If so, it indicates your system is not secure and you should follow the instructions to "Disable Windows Messenger Service". The Messenger service is a network-based system notification service service that transmits net send messages and messages that are sent through the Alerter service between client computers and servers. It should not be confused with Windows Messenger which is a proprietary instant messaging client included in Windows XP, 2000 and 2003 Server.

Hello!
My brothers computer has some serious problem I think
after booting up there is a message poping up which says
"System restored after critical error message"
when looking into details it says
"Problem signature:
BCCode: 100000d1 BCP1: 00000000 BCP2: 00000000C BCP3: 00000000
BCP4: BCP$: 81B84030 OSVer: 5_1_2000 SP: 2_0 Product: 768_1"
I have no idea about these things and dont know if you need anything else.
I reinstalled windows XP several times allready after this error occured but it didnt get better..
so i think it might be some hardware error. it is very hard to work on this pc right now, because the mouse isnt working either and it has gotten damn slow..
The pc is allready 5 years old too.. but he doesnt want to buy a new one, but he would like to buy some new hardware components if necessary. The PC got 1,66 ghz and 256 MB ram.

I allready changed the windows settings so it wont reboot automatically but give me a blue screen instead.
on the blue screen it says:
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Technical information:
STOP: 0x0000000A (0x0509FA04, 0x0000001C, 0x00000001, 0x806F2891)

and much informational text which only says talk to your administrator..
I just made a hijackthis log too, but im not sure if it is of any help..
BTW: The date and time is wrong.. just made the scan but the date is wrong on his pc.

I having this problem with an icon in my bottom right task tray. When I move my mouse over it, it says "Critical System Error!", but when I click it, it opens up some site for anti-virus software (www.virusburst.com). I have ran numerous anti virus scans and nothing cam up, so I know I am safe, but this icon wont go away. Every once in a while, a baloon will pop up saying something about I need a malware scan, but when I click it, it opens up the site again. I tried restarting my computer, but it still shows. Is there an executable I need to delete or how do I get rid of it?

Hi and welcome
Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Good Afternoon,

So Im fairly adept with computers but I cant seem to solve this problem.

On my VAIO FZN, there seems to be a virus which has taken control of my computer, most likely some sort of rootkit. When the computer starts

it says "You are about to be logged off - Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart automatically in one minute. Please save your work now."

after about 3-5minutes. BUT the catch is that this only occurs when the computer has the front LAN switch turned on. when this switch is off it works fine except for that I cant connect to the internet. I have run multiple AV programs which have removed some viruses but obviously not the main problem.
I have also run Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10 from my flashdrive which was successful in its scan but since the computer cant get online it wont run the full program (to update), at least I dont think it has.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions,

Thanks so much,
Blake

my son recently got a Thomas & friends Trouble on the Tracks Interactive cd-rom, and although it says it is for WIN 95/98, i tried running it compatible with both and neither worked, also i read reviews about this game and apparently other people have not had problems running it with windows XP...

it installs just fine and says i need DirectX version 7.0 or higher, which it installs also...and i have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times...

everytime i go to open/play/run the program the screen goes black like it's about to start, then a critical error message pops up that reads: Invalid ID in load header

now i obviously don't know what that means but could it simply not be working cuz the game is too old for my computer???

Help!

I am running Vista Home Premuim on a 32 bit computer

I am not able to run a virus scan. After I install the program and attempt to scan, the program acts like it's working but after just a few seconds it stops. When I try to open the program again I get this error message: Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item I've uninstalled that program and downloaded a new one and the result is the same. Today I downloaded a malware program hoping that might find the problem but that program also starts to scan and then stops and I'm unable to open it again. I've tried running both programs in safe mode with networking and again I'm unable to open the program and get the same error message. As there is only one user on this computer I'm certain I am the administrator.

I'm not an advanced pc user but I am able to follow instructions.

Any ideas on a fix for this?

Thank you!

Hi..I just bought a refurbished computer. Its an HP Desktop Computer COMPAQ 6005 PRO Phenom II X3 3.0 GHz 4 GB 250 GB HDD Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit .

In order to install windows for the first time on this refurbished machine, I have to choose "system restore" at boot.
It starts to go through the process of installing windows, then I get this message : "Windows Restore Critical Failure. This can be caused by a missing Windows image".
Anyone know how I can fix this. I cant get into windows, because I first have to install it using the system restore. So the only computer access I have, is when it boots up.

I have tried to contact Newegg...which is where I bought it, but no luck. All repairs and service is through the warranty company...cant get in touch with them either.

Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks.

I recently purchased this All-In-One and now I am getting this error message.  I have tried finding an email to contact HP Support and there is none. HP computers are a pile of worthless crap!!!! Now I know what most companies use Dell.  At least the computers operate with a system that isn't a pile of crap. HP Support sucks and I would never recommend anyone buying one.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details.

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, this post has instructions.

On Tuesday morning around 8:15 I got a little dialog box that stated (as close as I can recall) that Windows had encountered a critical problem and would restart in one minute, and that I should save my work. When I clicked my start button I saw that the restart option was grayed out, so I just had to sit there and wait for the restart to happen. Once it did and the computer was back, everything seemed normal. I looked in the Event Viewer and the nearest thing I could find to a cause was something about lsass.exe having stopped working. Also, later I noticed in the Windows update control panel that Windows Defender had updated itself at 8 AM that morning (at least according to my OS).

Relevant details: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit- I was running Firefox, iTunes and Steam at the time. My antivirus program is avast! free version. Everything is updated. My version of Java was one revision out of date (7 update 4 instead of 5--since fixed). I use FoxIt Reader and not Adobe so that's not a vector. I ran a full Malwarebytes scan and found nothing. Also ran TDSSkiller.exe and found no problems.

There has been no strange behavior since the forced reboot, and there were Windows updates installed yesterday, and everything seems to be behaving properly, but on another forum I frequent someone said this might be a rootkit, so I'm paranoid. Is there something I can do to be sure?

If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues, what you have done to resolve them, and a link to this topic. If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.It would be helpful if you post a note here once you have completed the steps in the guide and have started your topic in malware removal. Good luck and be patient. If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.

Running uTorrent, you are high-risk for infection. If it wasn't the e-mail, it would have been something else, eventually.

Those are two of the malware. There's probably more. You can always assume that the only executables running from temporary and documents folders are malware.

Print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/CleanUp.exe ) and install it. Don't run it yet.

Download Ewido Security Suite at http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

1. Install Ewido Security Suite.
2. When installing, under 'Additional Options' uncheck:
* Install background guard
* Install scan via context menu
3. Launch Ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double click it.
4. The program will now open to the main screen.
5. When you run Ewido for the first time, you might get a warning 'Database could not be found!'. Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
6. You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files.
* On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
* Then click on start update.
7. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. The status bar at the bottom will display 'Update successful'.
8. Exit Ewido. DO NOT scan yet.

As of recent, I've been unable to click on either the desktop or the taskbar, one or the other, but never both.

When I restart my system, if I click quickly before Windows gets a chance to start up completely, I can click it, but just moments later I will be unable to.

Every time I click it, left or right, I get that *ding* sound... I think it's the critical error sound.

At first it was my desktop, but when I restarted, it started happening to my taskbar and now it seems to be stuck on the taskbar.

I'm running BitDefender 2008, and it's not picking up anything, and I've run the Panda activescan, and it didnt pick up anything either. I keep my computer pretty clean, so I don't feel like it is a virus (although it very well could be.)

One thing I have noticed that is slightly peculiar is that once I startup my computer, I open the task manager (by ctrl alt del) and the firefox.exe process is running, even though the program isn't. I end it, and it just loads itself up again.

I've heard that it might have something to do with the shell extensions or something? Not sure exactly what that is or how to fix it.

I tried creating a new user account and rebooting and using the new account, and the same issue persists.

I don't understand what happened. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe its your mouse. Is it a p2 mouse with a usb converter on it?
If so take the converter off and plug it into the p2 slot. Or try it the
other way around. If you have a another mouse laying around try it.
Sometimes its the simplist things.

I have a boot up issue problem with my HP Envy Phoenix 810-160 desktop.  1TB HDD and 16GB SSD.  Originally Windows 8 and upgraded with the "free" Windows 10 OS. Returned after a 13 day trip and got the Hard Drive Error (3F0).  UEFI Diagnostics tests all passed multiple times.  After switching BIOS settings back to defaults, error changed to 3F6.  Every time I boot now, I almost immediately get the blue window Hard Drive Error (3F6). I hit F2 and go to Diagnostics.  Skip that by exiting out...computer boots - but very slowly.  Thereafter works perfectly until I shut it down.  Takes a long few minutes to finally shut down (all lights out).  Computer is 30 months old. My 16GB SSD DOES show up in Device Manager but NOT in Explorer.  In Windows 10 Disk Management, the SanDisk 16GB SSD shows up as Disk 2, Unknown, shows little round red icon with a down arrow, 14.9GB, Not Initialized and 14.91GB Unallocated.  I thought this was supposed to be the "fast" boot disk.  I'm afraid to "initialize" this SSD for fear that I might format it and lose what's on it. Can you HELP?  Would you agree that the SSD is not operating as it should?  If it is the "boot disk" how is it that windows starts at all?  Would physically uninstalling the SSD help? Thanks in advance, Bill

I ran McAffee this morning. It detected a few trojans, cleaned and removed some files and the re-booted my machine. When I get back to the desktop, I get the following error message:

"Could not load or run 'C:\Windows\system32\rqopp.exe' specified in the registry. Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry."
When I edited the registry, I removed the reference and re-started the machine, and I get the same message again. Additionally, the entry re-appears in the registry even after I remove it.

Any ideas on how to resolve this problem?

Thanks

Looks like malware. Use some other scanners. McAfee will not get anywhere near all of them.

Free anti-malware scanners:

Spybot S&D
Ad-Aware 2007
SuperAntiSpyware
Spyware Eliminator
Emco Malware Destroyer
Spyware Doctor
Arovax Anti-spyware
Trend-Micro Rootkit Buster
F-Secure Blacklight

Since this seems to be a relatively unknown threat, you may need to post a log from HijackThis in the Malware forum for professional help.

About 3 days ago a popup appeared on my pc stating the following: Critical System error! Warning!!! The system is restored after critical error. Error code is 0x01FFEFAC. System Safety critically lowered now. Install System Error Fixer and Trusted Antivirus now? It then has a yes and no button. I hit no and my desktop (everything except the background) disappears. After a short time another pop up appears stating: Filedownload
You are downloading the file Shell.exe from C:\Windows Would you like to open the file or save it to your computer?
I am then given the options of open save cancel or more information. I hit cancel and in a short time the Critical system error! pop up comes up again. I hit no (again) and my desktop reappears. I also noticed that my Control panel is gone from my start button.

I have run a few antivirus programs but none seem to get rid of this, I need help please!!!

I have a Windows XP.

Could not open a PDF document with error message: "There was an error opening this document. A file I/O error has occured"

A:Solved: repair PDF document that has an error message

1. Decipher the exact reason the PDF is not working. This is less difficult than it sounds. Simply open the PDF file and note the exact reason that the PDF is not working as shown in the box that pops up (e.g. "Cannot find or create the font..."). If you can, click and drag over the reason why the PDF is not working, right-click with the mouse, and copy that exact phrase.

2. Go to adobe.com, click the "Support" tab on the top of the screen, click on "Adobe Reader," and then select the "I can't open a PDF document" statement underneath "Troubleshooting." Paste the exact phrase you copied earlier into the search box on the right-hand side of the Adobe Support screen. Click "Enter."

3. Click on the "Adobe Troubleshooting" title that most closely matches the phrase you pasted into the search box. For example, if you paste "Cannot find or create the font..." into the Adobe Search box and select the one option available, you will receive specific directions detailing how to fix that particular problem. Follow the instructions you receive.

I am trying to to a repair installation on my Win7(64) Pro system: the one called "Upgrade" which does not delete user files, settings or programs. Every time I try to run the setup program from the DVD I burned from the Digital Rivers ISO I downloaded, the installation stops and I get the following Compatibility Report: "The following issues are preventing Windows from upgrading...Setup was unable to determine whether there is any virtual machine installed."

I've no idea what this means but want to fix the problem so I can run the repair installation setup. Any ideas?

A:Repair installation: error message about virtual machine

Wild guess: Do you have XP Mode installed? If so, try uninstalling it, see if that helps.

Have you tried disabling your anti-virus, shutting down everything you can then try the Repair? You could even try How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

If nothing else works, backup your data and Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

It wipes everything so you definitely need to backup first. I know this is not what you want to do but it may be the best way to fix the problem ad Google had nothing to offer for this problem.

Hi

I went to my Word 2013 file and when I pressed on it - I got an error message that word document would not open.

I tried other word documents and they all do not open and work. I tried also Excel files and they too do not work and open up.

I then tried to do a repair on Office 2013 by going to computer and pressed on Office 2013 program list and I got an error message that Bootstrapper error message of "Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close this program and notify you if a solution is available."

I tried repair several times without much success. I then found on line at https://support.office.com/en-us/art...rs=en-US&ad=US the idea to run the Microsoft Fix it tool and it successfully uninstalled the entire Office 2013

Yet after trying to reinstall the office from setup.exe file - I continue to get the Bootstrapper error message

I found on line - Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper has stopped working
that to delete - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags key would work and be able to reinstall the office suite since this would take care of the boostrapper issues.

I backup up the key and tried to delete the key but it would not let me and I got an error message.

A:Not able to repair office 2013 due to Boostrapper error message

Read through this website & see if there is anything that works for you.

You also mentioned you tried an Office Repair & it did not work. The correct method for doing an Office Repair is, open Control Panel, select Programs & Features, then scroll down to Microsoft Office 2013, Right Click on it & that should open a couple of Repair Options for you to try.

Do you have Office 2010 installed as well, or have you previously had Office 2010 installed. If so, problems can occur if it has not been completely uninstalled, so that needs to be fixed first.

Hi all,

I'm using Windows Vista and am suddenly unable to open any of my Microsoft Word 2007 documents. (Which means I can't recover my CV for this upcoming job )

When I try I get the following error message -
"C:\Programs Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\oart.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support."

On Googling the error message I saw that file was a security risk and followed the instruction in the topic, which was to open appwiz.cpl and then repair Microsoft Office 2007. But that didn't work, and I got the error message of - "Error 1310 C:config.msi\1151431.rbf Verify access". I received the same error message when I tried to uninstall, so I was unable to uninstall and reinstall the program.
Thanks in advance for any help, HeadDesk.

Hey guys, i am running windows 7 home premium 64 bit on my core i3 lennovo laptop
Problem is that i have been running a 2nd monitor and about a month ago the laptop screen went crazy and stopped working but the monitor kept working so i just went along with that. All has been fine but 2 days ago a tried to log in and the computer froze so i manually restarted it to find the startup repair come up, it did its thing, restarted a few times over a day and then it said that the problem could not be repaired, i tried it again and the same thing happened.

I saw the infinite loop tutorial so i tried it and got to the final stages and it said that the action could bot be performed because of an i/o error.
I searched around and saw that people have used chkdisk And sfc scannow. I tried these but kep geting the same messge about the i/o error.

All of my work is on this HDD so could someone please reccomend a way to fix this or save my HDD from having all of its contents deleted

Thanks.

I used to be able to access the "Repair your Computer" option when I booted up the install and repair disc (that I originally downloaded from digitalriver since I have an OEM installed version of Windows), but now I get the following error message:

"System Recovery options
This version of system recovery options is not compatible with the version of windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of windows".

I've read another post that says the issue may be the Service Pack 1 download:

"I have heard some people mention that you cannot use the original DVD to recover once "Service Pack 1" is installed but I never tried it for myself. So it is plausible that this is your issue; you may have upgraded to W7 SP1 (part of Windows automatic updates) and the disks were created when you were just W7."

This is the only explanation I can find for my situation.

Has anyone experienced this problem and what is the solution?

I am trying to access the "repair your computer" option to restore a System Image from a backup on an external hard drive because I want to test that it works before I have to use it for real. How ironic that I can't even get access to the option to restore a system image....

Any/all help appreciated.

A:Error message when trying to use "Repair your Computer" on repair disc

My understanding is, if your system has SP-1 installed your Repair Disc must also have SP-1.

If your Image doesn't have SP-1 I suggest making a new Image that includes SP-1.

Is it just because I am not logged in as an administrator, or is it something else???

It is indeed probably because you are not logged in as the Admin. When you download skins for Winamp, they self extract and install to the proper directory. Sounds like the skin is coming down OK but when it goes to extract and install, it stops as you don't have access.

The following message appears after booting my Windows 7 Install DVD and attempting to enter the Repair Your Computer option:

"This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the version of Windows you are trying to repair"

There is no problem if I click on Install Windows. The computer is working fine and I just wanted to explore the Repair Options for future reference. The computer was built at a local computer store in March. The DVD is official Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1 and matches the installation.

I read that this error message can occur if there are multiple disks or there is anything unusual about boot order.

The computer may have one unusual situation. The main and only disk is attached to SATA Port 1 and not Port 0. The DVD ROM drive is attached to SATA Port 3 and not Port 2. Those connections were a slightly shorter reach so perhaps that is the reason.

Would SATA Port 1 for the boot disk make any difference? There is one other unusual symptom. On the first boot attempt with the DVD my cursor does not work. It always works after another boot on the second attempt. Keyboard and mouse are USB.

On bootup I receive the error message "Critical Status-the Raid 1 array needes to be duplicated to ensure data consistancy." When I try and "Duplicate Now" it starts and then I receive another error, "Duplicating error!! The array is not functional."
If I ignore the error message and continue to boot the system (XP Pro) it cotinues to boot normally. This happens every time.
My question is: Should I try on bootup to remove the Raid array and then reinstall the array to clear the problem and in doing so, would I lose or cause harm to my hard drive(s) data?

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium on my laptop. For last few days I have not been able to install windows updates. I get the error with code 80070641.

After wandering through different forums and suggested solutions, I followed this path - control panel > system and maintenance > administrative tools > services > windows installer (double clicked and saw that the start-up type is 'Automatic'). When I clicked on the 'Start the service' button in the left panel here, I got the following message:

Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified.

Can anybody help me resolve this problem and bring my Windows Installer back on the track?

By the way, later, I did this -

After wandering through different forums and suggested solutions, I followed this path - control panel > system and maintenance > administrative tools > services > windows installer (double clicked and saw that the start-up type is 'Automatic'). When I clicked on the 'Start the service' button in the left panel here, I got the following message:

Windows could not start the windows installer service on local computer.
Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified.

Can anybody help me resolve this problem and bring the Windows Installer back on track?

By the way, later, I did this -

Click Start, Run and type: cmd /k sc qc msiserver
Press ENTER.

Following is the ouyput I received -

[SC] QueryServiceConfig SUCCESS
SERVICE_NAME: msiserver
TYPE : 10 WIN32_OWN_PROCESS
START_TYPE : 2 AUTO_START
ERROR_CONTROL : 1 NORMAL
BINARY_PATH_NAME : C:\Windows\system32\Msiexec.exe/V
LOAD_ORDER_GROUP :
TAG : 0
DISPLAY_NAME : Windows Installer
DEPENDENCIES : rpcss
SERVICE_START_NAME : LocalSystem
C:\Users\Shirish>

Does anyone have any idea of what's going wrong here?
Please help me resolve this issue.

Thanks,
Shirish

I'm trying to decrypt a USB drive that gives this error: The BitLocker encryption on this drive isn't compatible with your version of windows. Try opening the drive using a newer version of Windows.
When I go to run the Bitlocker Repair Tool I get the error message: Installer encountered an error 0x80096002. The certificate for the signer of the message is invalid or not found.

This occurs in Vista on a new Viao laptop when trying to run a proggy written for windows. Apparently Vista lacks csrastl.ocx which I have copied from this XP home machine and registered it in Vista windows/system32. The install proggy was deliberately modified to take account for this but the situation has now changed and that peeps is no longer available to help.

Is there a quick and easy answer?
cheers
Lil

A:Solved: Error 75 in RS Home, Path/File access error

I had a query up on another forum where this has been answered.

The software had been written for earlier versions of windows so Vista did not have an appropriate file in its registry. Copying, pasting and registering this file in Windows system32 with the AUC switched off and a modified proggy downloaded and installed has done the trick. This problem and another has kept me busy all the weekend.
Cheers everybody.

After I successfully log in to my laptop (OS Windows XP) with my password, arrive at my desktop, an error message pops up in the middle of my desktop that reads: "Sign In, the name and password you entered do not match". And when I right click on this error message to delete it, it only allows me to either close it, move it, click on the X in the top right corner or click Okay and it then closes. I believe it landed on my desktop from one of my internet sites that I attempted to login unsuccessfully, but I am not certain. How can I get rid of it? I even went into Control Panel and tried to Remove some unused programs with no luck. It's still there!

Hi Guys,

I am trying to digitally sign an xml document using client software. the application has a ' digitally sign button' and when i click on it I am getting this message "Run time error '75' path/file access error"
The digital certificate is in a usb drive. I am using vista HOme edition 32 bit version on a dell laptop.

There is no problem with digital ceritifcate or usb drive because i can digitally sign msword docs individually. the problem occurs only while using client software. i had successfully used the same client software and USB in signing xml docs in windows XP on a HP machine before.

Can somebody please help me resolve this issue.

A:Run time error '75' path/file access error

I really dont know the answer to this problem, but you could try a clean boot: Perform a clean startup to determine whether background programs are interfering with your game or program

and then digitally sing your document

I have a freshly installed copy of XP on an IBM Thinkpad, there are no other programs installed on the hard drive. I have tried right clicking and choosing"run as administrator" but get the same result, had a good look around the net but can't find anything exactly the same as my problem. I have used sysinfo and posted the results below. I have no antivirus as I will not be using it online at any time. Thanks for your time.

Hi all,

First off, thank you for reading. Please help if you do know a fix, and if not, thank you for looking!

I am posting here to see if I simply need to set a setting differently.

A desktop computer I built for a friend, who also had me build one for his friend, is having issues with one to two random reboots a day. I had him take a photo of the error message that he was getting. Here it is.

Here is the link if the photo doesn't work for you:

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o230/sparsons6183/DSCF9426.jpg

This computer shows a battery icon, that is full, in the tray in the lower right. That seems weird since it is plugged in, however I read somewhere that if a comp. has a UPS plugged in that Vista shows the battery level on the computer. It did it's reboot thing when I was there once, and the UPS beeps twice and the light turns orange. Funny thing is though, with this recovery thing running it just brings windows back up, just like a temporary blip in service. It def. powers down though.

So my initial thought is, well, it's gotta be the backup power supply. So I had him plug into a surge protector that was connected to the wall for a day to see if he got reboots, and he did. So that tested to see if it gives a battery error even if the computer is plugged into the wall, and it does. This shouldn't be a CMOS battery problem, because it happens everyday, and works fine in the inbetween...but am I wrong? The real kicker with all of this is that... Read more

A:Solved: A desktop, plugged in, gives "critical level" battery error?

Update! It rebooted when plugged into a power bar, AND when the USB cable was still attached to it. He is testing without the USB connected.

So without the power connected to UPS, but with the data connected, it still messed up.

Does this help?

Yesterday after installing Google desktop...my computer began to snag and hang and then it just froze up. I rebooted it and now my desktop won't load...no icons....no start menu, no tool bar, etc...just the wall paper and nothing else.

An error box pops up saying that Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close, then nada....just the wallpaper.

The error says:

faulting application explorer.exe version 6.002900.3156, faulting module deskbar.dll, version 2.0.0.12, faulting address 0x000060sf

I got here by doing ctrl + alt + del and then chose Mozilla foxfire.....

Under task manager, explorer.exe is not showing, so I can't end the process there

I tried to restart in safe mode and do a system restore, but when I got there, it said that I could not restore to any date other than today's date?

I can't think of anything else to do. Also, when I restarted in safe mode...all my icons are there.

Any advice would be welcome.

TIA!
ETA: Please....16 views and no one has any thoughts here??? I just need to know how to fix the error.

I did run RegEdit in safe mode and deleted a bunch of stuff related to the google tool bar and rebooted, but still have no desktop, icons, toolbar, etc. showing....only wallpaper.
