Somewhere in the update/install process of Windows 10 (and re-installing Outlook 2007), I lost my contacts in my Outlook account. The contacts remain in my iCloud account and on my iPhone. Can some please instruct me on how to import all the contacts back in to my desktop Outlook 2007 application?

Hello knowledgeable ones:

Until last week I was using outlook 2003, an older versions of itunes, and an ipod, and was able to back up my outlook contacts and calender through itunes and right to the ipod, no problem.

Now, however, I have had to upgrade everything so they can handshake correctly. This has meant going to Outlook 2007, the latest itunes, an iphone 5, and the icloud. My entire goal is to have the contacts in outlook match the contacts in both the cloud and the phone.

In using the icloud control on both of these, I now have the following: a variety of calenders in my outlook with names like calender in icloud, home in icloud, and my calender, all in lovely pastel shades. The phone has one calendar with only the occasionally dupes on a given date.

The phone, however, is a disaster, with as many as three dupes of the same name. Looking at Outlook, I have a slew of contacts, some dupes, many that I though i had deleted from outlook. Also two categories of contacts, icloud and my contacts, with sub-directories in each. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that the contacts tab under my contacts was completely blank following a sync to the cloud, only to then find the other five versions, which, of course, I would like to have agree with each other. The icloud interface on line shows dupe contacts as well.

I understand that one person may not have all the answers to all the parts of this; I am on an iphone forum as well, trying to figure ... Read more

I am having a bit of a mare with outlook. I have my main POP3 email address plus a Hotmail acc (lesser used) setup in it. Obviously my POP3 is my main default acc I always use. But when I go to my contacts list (setup in business card display) it always defaults to my Hotmail contacts. This is annoying as the contacts I want to view first is my POP3 contacts. I cannot see how to change it?

Also the Hotmail acc (which outlook has setup as an exchange acc is constantly saying 'updating address book' at the bottom. Can I fix / stop this?

Thanks

I found the tutorial in this forum called, "How to Import Windows Contacts into Outlook 2010." It all looked very much like Outlook 2016, so I followed the same steps to import my Contacts list from Windows 7 Contacts to Outlook 2016. Everything seemed to go okay, but I cannot find them in Outlook. Is there a different process to use for importing Windows Contacts to Outlook 2016? Maybe I don't know where to look for them, but there is nothing there when I try to open the Address Book in Outlook 2016. Is there another place where I should look? Thanks!

I imported my Contacts from WLM to Outlook 2016.
In the Address Book it has assigned Display names identical to the email addresses (it didn't ask!)
I would like them to be the same as the Full (real) names.
It appears I can edit them one-by-one but for >200 that's a pain.
Is there a way to change them globally?
Thanks.

Hi,
I updated Windows 14371 to 14372 the other day, and haven't had much thought to check Outlook as it was the weekend.
Today, when I went to open Outlook 2016, and create a new email, I started typing the contacts name, and nothing appeared, so I went to check the Contacts section in Outlook 2016, and all my contacts were gone.
All my emails are there in my inbox, and other folders have everything still, just the contacts are going?!!?!?
Don't get it, never had any issues with this before in other inside builds.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution?

A widespread problem? My Outlook 2016 Mail is performing normally in Windows 10 and syncing mail with my phone. However...I cannot sync my calendar or contacts into my Lumia 735. I get hints (nothing specific) from online searching that since my service provider (Time Warner) doesn't use MS Exchange, that the syncing can't be done. Can anyone verify that?
My mail is transferred cleanly, but contacts and calendar won't come over to the phone.
Any ideas about a solution?

I am importing an Outlook 2016 generated .CSV contact list into a webmail email account but keep receiving the following error.

Unknown error for item "(Unknown)": Could not parse csv file - Reason : missing column name for column[92]

There are 92 columns and each one has a column name. 92 columns is what Outlook 2016 generates, most columns are empty, just the name. I had previously tried deleting columns with no data but still got the same error, and always for the last column.

Is there a trick to get this contact list imported successfully? I am trying to create a whitelist filter to reject all email where the FROM name isn't in my contact file. My .CSV file contains 162 rows.

Did a web search and didn't come up with a good reliable way to transfer the folder to another email address PST file. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

I currently use Outlook 2010 because I have a paid license but I'm willing to upgrade.

This works Ok with iCloud but what I don't like is that I can't make my icloud calendar the default in Outlook so I don't get reminders on my PC. What I end up doing is manually copying critical appointments from my icloud calendar to my Outlook default calendar if I want to be sure to get a reminder on my PC!. This isn't ideal though. Does anyone have a better solution? I read that the latest Outlook 2016 doesn't sync at all so I can't upgrade Office. I wish MS and Apple would decide to work together instead of trying to defeat each other!!

I believe icloud will sync with windows 10 mail and calendar apps - is that true?

I've also heard of emclient being good but haven't tried it.

I'd really appreciate any input.

I have windows 7 and outlook 2010 on a PC. When linking to icloud and enabling it to synch with icloud, icloud took the contacts off my computer (at least it seems that way). In trying to resolve the issue and talking with Apple and Omnitech, a variety of solutions were tried. I now have all my contacts in the right categories showing up on my PC, but it appears that they are not on the PC but in the cloud. My goal is to copy one of my categories, mailing list, into a new separate folder in the folder list in order to use it to merge with Word and make labels. In the past, I could right click on the mailing list category and drag it to the new folder that I created. It would then ask if I wanted it to copy the file there or move it. I copied it to the new folder and then was able to merge it with word. Currently, when I try to drag the file to the folder, it indicates that this action can not be done. It appears to me that the reason this is occurring is that the contact file is in the cloud not on the computer. ?? I would like to create a file with my contacts on the PC with the contacts in the right categories and not duplicating what is currently showing up from the cloud. I believe once I do this I will again be able to copy the category to the new folder.

I have a new Windows 10 laptop and I have migrated most everything from my previous laptop that I wanted and everything has been working pretty good up to now. If I do a search for one of the words in the appointment name, then delete all those items from the Deleted folder, they are not deleted and simply reappear.

Hello everyone (And sorry for such a long thread title!)

One of the elderly gentleman where I work, has been given a Dell laptop by his Son that's running W7 64bit.

He has a copy of Office 2000 that he would like to install on this machine, and use the bundled Outlook from it as his default e-mail client. The only problem is, the current desktop PC he's using, is running Windows XP (unsure which version) and he's got Outlook Express as his e-mail viewing software on there at the moment.

Can the profile (sorry if that's the wrong term) from XP's Outlook Express be "ported" into the Outlook from Office 2000, whilst all of this is running on W7 64bit?

Many, many thanks in advance

A:Migrating XP's Outlook Express to Office 2000's Outlook on W7 64bit

Office 2000 is not supported on Windows 7, and is insecure and past it's lifetime support. That said, there may be workarounds to get it to work on 7, but that's probably more difficult then your original question. I'd think your friend would need a newer version, then revisit can it be done For instance:

Import messages into Windows Mail from Outlook Express

Import your messages or account from Outlook Express to Outlook - Outlook - Office.com

Trying to use Office 2000 would not be at all advisable.

Hello, I have multiple issues regarding address books and contacts. I am currently trying to organize multiple address books on my Win 2000 desktop(outlook express) my laptop XP (outlook 2007) and my IPhone 3G. They are a mess because of old cell phone backups combined with address book entries. I now have multiple entries for numerous contacts etc.
After organizing all these contacts/address books I would like to import to my new Win 7 desktop (outlook 2010 beta) and retire my Win 2000 desktop. These are all stand alone computers that are not networked other than through a router to share broadband access.
I tried searching for software to help combine and organize all three of these but had no luck.
I then tried manually updating all my contacts on my laptop and Iphone but I ran into a glich of sorts. After making the changes on my Iphone and doing a ITunes sync, some of the contacts disappeared. Right now I am not sure how many, but I noticed a few of the ones I use alot are gone on both my laptop and Iphone.
I do not subscribe to or use the "mobile me" feature.
I have spent quite a bit of time searching the net without finding a solution.
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated!
Thank You!
Ron

Hi johnbigbootie89,

Welcome to Vista Forums!

Let me apologize that it took so long for someone to reply to your request - but it is now active and I think we'll be able to resolve it. In fact, I think I have just what you need.

Check out the following article: Importing contacts from Windows Contacts folder | MSOutlook.info. Make sure you use the Vista procedure. It seems the article was designed specifically for this purpose so I have high hopes it will accomplish your objective. You do not drag the contents (which is essentially copy/paste) - you use import/export instead.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

They are migrating to outlook preview and so all legacy applications will be affected

outlook 2013/16 and th Windows mail 10 App should be OK

Not sure about any other legacy Apps like Windows live mail or third part Applications like thunderbird

So I restored back to the last restore point before the update and it worked great after that. Yesterday it re-installed the updates, and again Outlook didn't load. Restoring again today "fixed" it. Now it wants to update again, so I will disable updates until the problem is fixed. I don't know which particular "patch" is causing the problem; there were about 22 of them that installed.

Here is my situation.
The monitor on my old laptop died.
Via Oracle Virtual Box I exported my entire old compute to a new logical machine on my new computer.

I think I have the right Office key to reinstall Office 2010 on the new machine. Right now I did download Office 2010, a trial version.

I want to bring over my entire profile with Microsoft Exchange settings, address book, and PST files etc to the new machine.
Once that is done I will not need Outlook in the virtual machine so I will not be running two copies of Office at once.

So, how do I migrate my entire profile with Microsoft Exchange settings, address book, and PST files etc to the new machine.

1. What files do I need to copy and where do I put them?
2. How do I put in the activation key that I have to get off the trial version?

Thanks

Dear Helpful Colleagues: I as a newby tech coordinator at a school have been charged with migrating netscape and Netscape 7.1 over to outlook with two questions:

1)Teachers have been downloading for storage the old messages on the c drive and they will not print those they want to keep. They must have them on accessible at least as a reference on the c: drive after we move over to outlook. How can I do this?

2) Is there a quick way to migrate netscape adress books to outlook.

Thanks for you advice.

Hi

Have been testing Windows Easy Transfer and although it seems to work great, unfortunately it does not migrate over the Outlook 2010 email settings. I have made sure the .pst files are moved but still no luck.
Are there some other files that also need to be migrated?

Thanks

A:WET not migrating Outlook settings

You may have to set up your email accounts again. You can do this via the Mail applet in Control Panel.

I am currently considering migrating from Eudora 7.0 to Outlook 2007 because Eudora is no longer supported and I am concerned about the security and tech support implications of that. I considered changing over to the new Thunderbird or Mozilla incarnation of Eudora, but I'm not up for beta testing a new product through its 1.0 upgrades

On the other hand, I have heard all the horror stories about the many security vulnerabilities of Outlook and the fact that it is frequently a target of spammers. I have also heard that the migration between these two products is quite difficult. However, I have the whole Office 2007 suite and, given that I am learning the Getting Things Done (GTD) system, I would love to have my email more tightly integrated with my calendar, to-do-list etc.

So, my questions are:
1. Would you migrate from Eudora to Outlook? and
2. What is the best way to migrate? I've look at 3rd party solutions like Aid4Mail but I'm not sure how useful they would be for the price.

Any guidance you could provide about the wisdom of doing this migration would be gratefully accepted.

Background: I am about to leave the company I have been in for 10 years. I have Outlook 2011 on the mac that I will be taking with me away from the company. However, this version of Outlook is currently linked to an Office 365 account - and exchange account for my email... And obviously these accounts are going to be closed.

What I would like to do: I would like, essentially, to fully recreate my current outlook (with contacts and email folders etc) in another email client - such that when the exchange account is deleted - all the contacts and emails remain on my computer in this other email client.

If anyone could let me know the best way of doing this it would be very much appreciated.

I learned the hard way when I realized my external backup did not backup my Outlook 2003 mail. I just installed Win 7 and when I went to move my Outlook mail over from my external drive, only old mail was there from '06 and '07. I still can't figure this out - why did it not save my current stuff? Maybe it was about the time I went from Outlook Express to Outlook... that it stopped backing up? I don't know...

But fortunately, I did move my Outlook folders over to my Verizon webmail when I was fiddling with network stuff a month ago. It's all there - can I move my webmail folders back to Outlook 2007? If so, any help on how to do this is much appreciated! Thanks.

A:Migrating webmail to Outlook 2007

If Verizon webmail supports retrieval using IMAP protocol, you should be able to set it up in Outlook, which will then synchronise all the folders and messages with Verizon's server.

I need help to migrate my Earthlink email from Earthlink's proprietary Earthlink mailbox program to Outlook.

If that is not possible, then, at a minimum, I need to save all of my Earthlink messages in ".eml" or ".msg" format.

That's the problem. Here are solutions that I've already explored and which do NOT work.

1) Export email messages (from within Earthlink mailbox program) as a csv file. This does not work because it drops out all html formatting and removes atatchments and leaves you with only plaint text.

2) Export email messages to dat file. This does not work because it is some kind of proprietary format that cannot be opened up to view individual emails with html formatting and attachments.

3) Use Access to read Earthlink's mailbox mdb file. This does not work because it is some kind of proprietary format that cannot be opened up to view individual emails with html formatting and attachments.

4) Using "save as" function to save individual emails in .eml format. This does not work because Earthlink's program (shockingly) only allows you to save one message AT A TIME in .eml format. Of course, it is not practical to have to sit at the computer for several days to individually save thousands of emails.

Please please help me get these old earthlink emails into some format (.msg or .eml) that is recognizable and searchable by other widely used email programs who aren't purposely engineered to hold your ... Read more

Hello

I'm current running Outlook 2002 for email, but am about to swap to a laptop with Outlook 2010 installed.

In order to transfer my emails across do I just need to copy over the .pst file to the new machine, then setup the email accounts, and finaly export and import the rules I have defined?

It seems straightforward, but the last time I transferred my outlook email from one pc to another (a few years ago) it all went wrong as follows...

I store copies of my emails on the POP3 server as well as in the .PST file, and they only get deleted from the POP3 when I delete them on my PC. When I transferred Outlook to a new machine previously it immediately downloaded duplicate copies of all my emails and so I ended up with two copies of everything on the pc. Outlook seemed to fall out of sync with the server, and loose track that the emails were already stored in the .PST file.

Can someone suggest how I can avoid this problem when I setup Outlook 2010? Are there perhaps some Outlook configuration files, other than the .PST, that I need to copy over?

Thanks :-)

A:Migrating from Outlook 2002 to 2010...

It will do that again
When you have POP setup - it only synchronises in one direction to the PC (except for the deleted) and so when you move the mail into a new folder , the server does not know that and just keeps it in the server inbox
When you setup the new outlook it will re-download them again into the inbox

I usually setup imap , so that the server is synchronised - but you are relying on your email provider to have the copy - so no backup

There is a duplicate add-in - but its been a long while since I have used it
I'll see what I can find
Edit - not found in my bookmarks yet
As i mentioned I used this add-in on a few friends outlook, one had 25,000 emails re-download and the other 12,000
When they moved PCs

I have used my Office Outlook 2016 syncing with my Msn.com email for years, and as of 10/12/16, my outlook started to have issues. Nothing I did on the outlook synced up with the online emails nor anything that attacked that account (my iPad/iPhone) but whatever I did on those reflected.

For example, I deleted out my junk on Outlook, and it would not reflect that change, but I was still getting new emails into my Outlook.

I tried a couple of things, then removed my msn.com email, and restarted. When I tried to reconnect back to my email, (add email) it would always restart office outlook. Has done this every single day, though I can retrieve and do everything from my apple products or through the online Outlook (aka outlook live). But since I have tons of windows open, I don't need to try to keep track of my email when outlook did this. (the office products)

To make it more interesting, my Gmail accounts are still all linked and working through the office outlook. (it's sad when google is working better than their Microsoft's own email system!) I have restarted, repaired and done everything, even checked my privacy settings which are all set up correctly.

Has anyone else had these issues, and can help me?

Recently we starting migrating from Outlook 2003 to 2010 and emails came over fine but only about 10% of the contacts. I copied the PST file from the old pc to the new one and put it in the proper location. I have been on numerous site including Microsoft's but none of the answers worked. I also tried doing the File, Export Contacts to an Excel spreadsheet, to try bringing them over manually, but it only exports the same ones that I already have in Outlook 2010.

In Outlook 2003, when I open a new email and put the cursor in the "To" field, and type the letter (e.g. A, B) all of those contacts beginning with A, B, etc. show up so I know they are still there. There are probably 300+ contacts in there but only 40 came over to Outlook 2010. The configuration is:

Old pc: Windows XP Pro SP3 running Outlook 2003
New pc: Windows 7 Pro SP1 running Outlook 2010

I am sure someone has seen this before and would really appreciate any help. Thank you,

heyya, and welcome to TSG.

Give the following a shot and let us know how that comes out......

To import .nk2 files into Outlook 2010, follow these steps:

1. Make sure that the .nk2 file is in the following folder:
%appdata%\Microsoft\Outlook

Note The .nk2 file must have the same name as your current Outlook 2010 profile. By default, the profile name is “Outlook.” To check the profile name, follow these steps:

a. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
b. Double-click Mail.
c. In the Mail Setup dialog box, click Show Profiles.

2. Click Start, and then click Run.

3. In the Open box, type outlook.exe /importnk2, and then click OK. This should import the .nk2 file into the Outlook 2010 profile.

I have a task to transfer all the emails and contacts from a W2K Pc using outlook express onto a new Windows 7 PC

i have not done a transfer with W2K and in the past I have loaded thunderbird onto the PC and then transferred using a thunderbird backup program
Not sure thunderbird will run on W2k - so not sure of the best way to do this transfer

any suggestions on best way to do this - i'm doing it tomorrow 14:00 UK BST time

EDIT
Update info found/supplied by another forum so far

So it would appear that Version 13 of thunderbird does not support W2K - and so i have found the old versions and downloaded V12
I hope to install that on the W2K machine and then startup and hopefully get prompted to import from OE (and that they only have 1 profile)

then use mozbackup to create a back up - take to the W7 PC and restore

Thats worked for me quite a few times now - but on XP PCs and with outlook , never tried with OE or W2K

and install the latest v17 of thundervird onto the W7 PC

just not sure if

mozbackup works on W2K and also if it will support creating a backup on V12 and then will it restore on the W7 PC to a V17 of thunderbird

the client is expecting a lot - so i cant take any chances , as i have been recommended to them and will be paid for my time

I have succesfully used MailStore Home to transfer all my e-mails from Outlook 2010 (32 bits) to WLM 2012. I have searched and read, but everything I have found seems to eventually boil down to transferring your e-mails. Obviously I need some help. Hey Everyone,

I have a client who was on a hosted exchange server with two email addresses. I moved them to another host, which has pop mail. I backed up their exchange mailboxes, deinstalled outlook, reinstalled outlook, and then imported their emails from the .pst file.

Now I have some crazy stuff happening, where it is still trying to send new emails from the exchange account, won't log ino the pop account, and some other stuff. There must be remnants of exchange left somewhere. I took in a fresh laptop, duplictaed the pop accounts in it, and all works fine. So the problem appears to be within the desktop.

Any ideas? Thaks all.

I've searched for a solution to this and am having no luck so far but my old hp laptop has just died and although I had bought the full MS office outlook 2007 prog and although still have the activation key but it doesn't work with new trial downloads.

Am I being dumb and the license is only for the one use on one laptop ever? Because thats hardly reasonable. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I hit a brickwall with outlook help.
I have had to download MS office 2007 and not just the outlook portion. Could that be the reason? I can't find the individual program as a download. I originally paid for the trial version on the hp to be activated.

A:Migrating MS office Outlook 2007 to a new laptop

What is this "Activation Key" that you have?

On all of the machines that I have install Office including Outlook, all that is required is the KEY code on installation, and then use the Activate wizard within and Office product. This wizard will always pop up on the first start of any Office product.

Yes, some versions of MS products are limited to only one machine, but when you do a activation, there is a phone number in which you can call and explain that you are moving to a new machine and they (Microsoft) will help you out.

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to import my exported Windows Mail to Outlook 2007. I exported my mail a few days ago from my laptop to an external drive before I scrubbed that laptop to give to my little brother.

Under Outlook 2007
File->Import and Export...->Import from another program or file->Outlook Express 4.x, 5.x, 6.x or Windows Mail

When selecting the options above, I get a message, "No internet accounts were found to import."

I was hoping it would open a dialog for me to point to the exported folders that were created by Windows mail. I've tried the following option below, with similar results:

File->Import and Export...->Import Internet Mail and Addresses->Outlook Express 4.x, 5.x, 6.x or Windows Mail

Does anyone know how I can recover those messages with dates intact? Windows Mail exported my mails into the folders with .eml files in them, but I get no options to import them from Outlook 2007. Each .eml file appears to be individual email messages.

Thanks!

According to what I have read, both Windows Live Calendar and Outlook 2007 support .ics files.
However, you may want to copy your ics file and then import the copy and/or you may see if you can export your calendar in another format (I really must admit my absolute ignorance here!)

In the folder/tree view on the left in Outlook 2007 (Windows XP Pro) the Contacts folder is not showing up.

In Outlook 2003, it was right there underneath Calendar, which, by the way, is also missing from the Folder/Tree view.

OS: XP home

I recently re-installed my entire computer, incl. MS Office 2002.
When restoring the .pst files, something went wrong. Maybe I needed to re-install more than just .pst files, maybe it screwed up because I renamed the back-up files?

Either way, the problem is that the Contact folder is not displayed in the Outlook Address Book, and I cannot manage to make it so.
I tried the following:
- Right-clicking the Contacts folder, Properties, Outlook Address Book tab. The checkbox "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book" is greyed out, so I cannot check it.
- Tools, E-mail accounts, View or change existing directories or address books. Outlook Address Book - MAPI is listed (as only one). When pressing Change..., I get an error message: "This E-mail account cannot be configured. Please run Outlook and choose this profile before attempting to make changes to it." There is only one profile (I had 2 before re-installation, but no longer needed the second).
If I try to Add... an Additional Outlook Address Book, or a Personal Address Book, I get the error message "The account you have added is not fully configured. It might not work properly until re-configured correctly."

Nice, but how to re-configure it correctly??? I prefer not having to re-install the program...

I tried to Remove the listed Outlook Address Book, but then could still not Add... one (same error message), so the originally listed one re-appeared.

What can I do?

If this possibility exists, is there a way to ensure that the sync goes from Outlook to the phone only, and not the other way around? Thanks.

I thought that if you manually added your account to the phone the contacts list for that account gets downloaded from that account and added to the phone.

My stepdad used Microsoft Outlook 2000 for contacts only, not e-mail, just contacts, before his Microsoft Windows 2000 computer blue screened beyond repair. Luckily, we recently saved a .pst file, and now we need to restore his contacts. We reinstalled Microsoft Windows 2000 but are trying to avoid re-installing Microsoft Office. We have Open Office to replace his Microsoft Word and Excel, and it works great. The last piece of the puzzle is how to restore his Microsoft Outlook contacts from the .pst file. I've got too many issues today, or else I'd do the usual searches for an answer, I'm usually more resourceful that this, but in the name of time as my stepdad will get impatient without his contacts, should we try 1) Mozilla Thunderbird, 2) Outlook Express, 3) Windows Address Book, 4) Other? Much thanks.

A:Restore Outlook Contacts From PST Without Reinstalling Outlook

hi,

been looking up stuff on .pst and it seems that this is a proprietary format (and you know how MS is about their stuff !).

anyways there are a few tools on the net tat claim to be able to read .pst files

one is mailnavigator
and guidancesoftware>v4readmail
they may not do the exact job as you wanted but at least they can bring up .pst files.

let me know if you found another way

cheers

I have a problem when I import my contacts from my desktop Outlook into my laptop Outlook. The way I do this is to export them from my desktop machine onto a flash drive, then I move that to my laptop and import them. The problem is that once completed, my laptop Outlook sorts the list by the first name, rather than by the last name as my desktop does.

My list is about 5K names, and while I do have a few occurrences where there are a couple of people with the same last name, there are FAR more with similar first names. You wouldn't believe how many Dave's I have!

I have gone into the "Tools, Preferences, Contact Options" on the laptop, and it IS set for "sort by last name."

Both computers are tunning XP Pro, and Outlook 2003.

I hope this will help... I've just sorted my contacts by last name by doing the following:Go > Contacts, then I selected phone list from Current view. Then right-click on the empty place of the contacts table and select Customize Current View > Fields and Last name field. Now when I click on the Filed column in the contacts table Outlook sorts my contacts by last name. Also, you can always move your contacts and other outlook data using this utility.

I need to save my MS Outlook Contacts from my PC at work (using Outlook 2003) to my PC at home (using Outlook 2000). I know how to use File> New> Outlook Data File> Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (.pst)> OK to start, but that doesn't populate the new directory (or file or whatever it is) with the contacts.

How do I copy/paste, translate, whatever the contacts into that new directory?
Please reply to [email protected].

Thanks and Merry Christmas!
Scott

Go to you current Contacts.

Hightlight them all - Ctrl-A

Copy them to the buffer - Ctrl-C

Go to the Contacts location in the new pst file

Paste them back in again - Ctrl-V

Hi, I had to carry out a factory resect on my PC, before doing this I backed up my PST files ( running Outlook 2013), I had three, of which I now know, two are OST files. When I restored the PC, I found out windows 7 did not support the latest edition of Outlook, I downloaded Windows 10

What I didn't realise I was making directories and folders to store my e-mails on the server and also I believe my address book is stored there, I have an 800M, OST folder which I backed up. My question, how do I restore this OST file or can I recover from the server.

My PST file was easily recovered which I have made as my default.

A:Outlook 2016

The OST is the offline backup of the server, so if you can get your stuff from the live server still I would do that to let outlook rebuild its new database at this point. To use the OST you need to convert it to a PST with a 3rd party program like OST to PST Converter Tool to Convert Exchange OST to Outlook PST File

I have just installed Outlook 2016. I have connected it to my isp's webmail which is IMAP. It has brought all the relevant emails in to Outlook but has left them on the server. The whole reason I installed Outlook was to clear the server. If I delete them from the server to Trash it synchronizes in my Outlook. Is there a solution?
