Y510p SLI CS:GO Freeze/nvlddmkm Crash

Q: Y510p SLI CS:GO Freeze/nvlddmkm Crash

How many of you have been unable to get the maximum performance of your system? Experienced nvidia driver crashes when playing on SLI? A lot have tried: Different/older driversModded BIOS and vBIOSUndervolting CPU and/or GPUPhysical cooling modsUnderclocking the Core clocks of the GPUSetting the TDR delay limit to a higher valueDifferent Nvidia Control Panel settingsDifferent OS'sI think I finally have the solution for you.Download Nvidia Inspector - I use version 1.9.7.2 even though there are newer ones (it's the only one that lets me force P-states)Open up Overclocking and choose your second GPUSet the Memory Clock offset so that your effective Memory Clock equals your RAM clock. i.e My RAM runs at1600MHz and my default GPU memory clock is 2700MHz, so i put the offset at -1100MHz.Apply Clocks and VoltageThe app would need to be started every time you want to play though, so please be careful of that. You can make a shortcut of the clocks using the program and then just start the program and execute the Clocks shortcut before playing. I had been struggling with playing CS:GO on SLI for 1.5-2 years maybe. I had resorted to playing with SLI off, but always knew I could get more FPS if I just managed to get SLI to work. And now it does. Enjoy your 300 FPS, guys. My hardware: Lenovo y510p LaptopMatte LCD screen (overclocked to 80Hz, if you're an owner of the glossy screen, you can OC to 100Hz)i7-4700MQ2xGT755m (I don't know if this will work for the gt750 guys, but doesn't hurt to try) Software configuration: Win 8.1 64-bitNvidia 364.72 driver (without GeForce Experience and PhysX)Nvidia Control Panel settings are defaultThrottleStop 7.00 (A handy little program that disables CPU throttling when gaming, it has no part in the fix though, you can use it to get maximum performance out of your system, recommended to laptop users)

I've been getting this crash for about a year, but it only happened to one game that I played. I started playing another game, Day Z, and its happening again. I don't know why it only happens for certain games, but it really starts to annoy me because I don't wanna waste my $30 I spent for this game. I keep getting nvlddmkm.sys crashes and did everything to solve it. I did memory checks, driver reinstalls, driver rollbacks, win 7 reinstalls, even overvoltaging my north bridge which i heard helps, and nothing helps. It used to happen when i played games for 3 hrs. but now i dont even have to run a video or 3d application. I dont even need to have my memory or cpu maxed out. Im pretty sure my video card is fried or bad or something, but i dont want to replace it if im actually sure. I am attaching my minidump files and my specs:

Hello Welcome to SF !!

I guess its an issue with your Display card (nvlddmkm.sys) i would recommend to uninstall the drivers completely from the Computer and reinstall from a fresh download. Follow this link it might be helpful Info: nVidia Driver Cleaning Guide - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net

Also if you want you could also run a stress test here is the link for it FurMark: Graphics Card Stability and Stress Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net

Completely uninstall the NVIDIA driver and reinstall it...

If it happens again...uninstall the NVIDIA driver and install an older driver.

If it STILL happens...it could be the OS interfereing with the driver or the hardware may be the cause

Last week, I updated my graphics card drivers. All was well until a blue screen that pointed to a nVidia driver file.

After uninstalling the current driver and running a driver sweeper, windows 7 right away goes ahead and installs its own VGA drivers. I've disabled wifi on my computer wifi and changed driver installation settings, but this auto install keeps on happening.

Installing the new drivers over the windows version is pretty likely what caused the blue screen, but I have no idea how to get around it...

Thank you in advance.

Hello SF users.
Couple of days a go I am starting to get this strange thing.
I am playing Dota 2 at the same Resolution same settings everything was working well ... I stopped playing dota 2 like 1 month and when I started playing it (4 days ago) there is a in game lagg , after that Dota 2 will minimize it self and I cant make it maximize again I need to Kill the Procces and start again which is pretty annoying but its not only Dota 2 its other games as well.
So I was doing research and every one said check Admin Events and I have a lot of them and this is the error.
"The description for Event ID 13 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

\Device\Video5
Graphics Exception: ESR 0x405840=0xa2040800"
This is my first time happening and I am using this computer like 2 years now.
Also I did Reinstall Windows 7 I did Reinstall Nvidia Drives I did try other version of drivers I haven˝t clock anything (I hope so). I started a test with GPU-z to see temperature and this is what happens when it laggs in game so I quickly minimize to check my GPU monitoring and this is what I saw GPU load was 99 and I think das is not good.

I am at a complete lose. I have tried so many things. I believe due to my ignorance as to what the actual problems is may be why I have failed countless times trying to resolve this.

What happens is I will be playing Guild Wars 2 and all of a sudden the computer goes to a blue screen only thing I seen on the screen before it reboots is something about a problem with the nvlddmkm.sys It has happened without playing a game but it seems to be very rare when it does.
Sometimes it wont show the name of the file it just shows a sad face thing like ;( and says I have encounter a problem.

I was running windows 8.1 had the problem many times. Then I upgraded to Windows 10 hoping it would fix it. It did not.

I would greatly appreciate any help as to what I can do, if anything to resolve this issue. If I have not given the proper information and uploaded the correct files please let me know I will send the files or information you require.

Wanted to say, I make sure to keep my laptop on a chill pad. Monitored the heat it all checks out fine. I have installed and reinstalled windows so many times thinking that may help, it has not. I have updated nvdia drivers countless times using the Geforce Experiance thing to check for new drivers. Ran the memtest to check the ram for errors. None was found.

On 6/8/011 Bitdefender 2011 reported that there was a virus and to run scan and reboot, I did this, then Bitdefender would not update or give real-time virus protection. It then crashed my PC and froze all windows, so I un-installed bitdefender with the un-install tool, I then restored my PC to an earlier date, and then un-installed Bitdefender again just in-case there were any files left. My PC ran normal, but I had no protection, so I installed Bitdefender 2012, same thing happened crashed PC frozen windows, I could not turn PC off, and had to hold on/off button in etc, once again I un-installed bitdefender, the PC ran normally.
Then came the most frustrating 5 days of call centre phone advice I have ever experienced in my life, I sent all the files which Bitdefender required, to send to their labs, my PC came back as clean with no problems. Every time I called I had to go through the same proceeder, even when I gave the operator my ticket number, they just kept telling me to do the same things, that I had already done countless times. I have been using Bitdefender for 5 + years now and have never encountered these problems. 2011 version had been running OK on my PC until this problem occurred, but now crashes my PC, 2012 crashes my PC, I am now gone back to trying Bitdefender 2010.
The problem is I have purchased a 2 year license, and I am running old version Bitdefender soft-ware, I had no protection for 5 days, except for windows, so did not go on line, and the Bitdefe... Read more

HP laptop has been freezing and crashing a lot in the last few days for no apparent reason. CPU also runs very high at times even when I'm not doing anything. In the last while any automatic updates I've tried to run have failed including windows XP updates, HP updates and maybe one or two others. I started out in a software forum and a HJT was suggested. A friend also suggested some system utilities might be needed. A trend micro scan was also suggested but it still has almost 2 hrs to go (on dial up here ) Housecalls found 12 profiling cookies the 1st time through and this time it seems I'm good.

about programs I have downloaded like IE6, which also changed my Outlook
Express to ver 6. If the hard drive has to be reformatted with the disks
from 3years ago, will I lose it all?

Before I take the drastic step of reformatting, are there other things I
might try? I did install Startup Cop, and probably there are files that could be eliminated, but how do I know which?

Many thanks for any help.

Righty,

I mainly get these problems whilst playing newer games, though sometimes it also occurs to a much lesser extent when I have lots of tabs open in firefox and/or am watching internet videos.

First (usually), the screen freezes momentarily/the image flickers, and in games I sometimes get horizontal linear distortions across my screen.

Then a number of things can occur:

(most commonly) The screen goes black. It recovers itself (with applications minimised and with the message 'nvlddmkm has stopped responding and has successfully recovered')
(also quite common) the screen freezes, usually with distortions if I've been playing a game. Audio freezes but from the way it changes every few seconds it seems like the computer is trying to soldier on. Controls are completely unresponsive, forcing me to manually reboot.
The screen goes black. It doesn't recover, but audio indicates all the processes/applications which are using audio are carrying on normally.
Very rarely the computer will restart itself. ... Read more

Alright, I'm running windows xp, and I've recently run into a problem. Two days ago, I was downloading a movie, and when I got it my computer froze. When I restarted, everything was fine. Then I relized that everytime I go to "my recent documents" under the start menu, I get this. An program not responding message, like when you close an unresponsive program that says "windows explorer has encountered a problem and must be closed." then directly after, "Dr.watson debugger has encountered an error and must close". then the computer freezes. This is only when I put my cursor to look into my recent documents. ON top of this, for the last few weeks, my computer has been checkign the same disc, everytime I start the computer. I'm not sure if these are related. But back to the main problem. I assumed the video was bad, so I ran an anti-virus scan with my AVG. And I didn't find anything but tracking cookies. So, I assumed I must have screwed up a settign somewhere or something and tried to do a system restore, but both dates I took, said it couldn't be resotred to that date, when It says It can be. I don't want to re-install my xp and start over because I have important pictures and files on my pc. Any idea's or fixes would be helpful, if more info is needed let me know.

DEP can cause crashes. It normally should be on for max protections, but some apps may need exceptions. if you look in event viewr (type eventvwr in search) a DEP crash will say event ID 1000 source 100 and give the app data.

Take a look let us know what you see and tell us what hardware you have

Hello

I bought a new pc recently (q6600) which just had onboard graphics and a 450W psu. I bought a nvidia 9800gt and a new 600W psu as I thought that would be needed. Now I am getting crashes, mainly whilst playing games. When I say crash, I mean the screen freezes, it doesn't go black, but it's also slightly warped the picture. I thought this might be either the cpu or gfx card overheating, but it's also happened when there was little strain on either, and the cpu temp was only 39. This didn't happen before I installed the psu and gfx card, but then I wasn't really playing games before that as it only had onboard graphics.

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

Hi rubix1415 Welcome to Techspot!!

When your screen freezes as you say how do you use the PC again? do you need to reboot or can you ctrl+alt+delete and then end the process?

Have you installed the drivers with the graphics card? I'm guessing you would have with it picking up the picture but when you installed the drivers were there any problems?

Can i just ask as well what games you are playing? this could be important as some have had problems with some graphics card WOW in particular.

Finally how are you measuring the CPU temp? are you doing this through BIOS or 3rd party app

Thanks

Hello guys,

I'm new in the forums and in the process of trying to find the answer to the problem, i found this awesome forum that seeks to inform and help people. That's like doing charity lol.

Anyways, i'll cut to the chase:

SSD: Windows and heavy programs installed in C:
HDD: Games and light programs in D:
HDD: Storage in E:
D: and E: are in the same HDD
Disk is defragged, registry is clean. No virus: Avast Scan.

My computer used to Blue Screen alot before, sometimes when i was playing a game or just web browsing! Then i proceeded to a BIOS update, disk check etc... All diagnostics that i've tried fail to tell me something was wrong. However, after that HDD would just freeze and then recover, but no blue screen what-so-ever.

Anyhow, i sent my pc to the computer technitian. He said it could be something wrong with the secondary HDD (D:&E: ) (not the windows SSD (C: )) or the SATA controlers failing to access the Disks. He also downgraded my BIOS in the process. He didn't test it further because i had like 1TB in data that didn't have any backup and didn't want to be responsible for any data loss.

Now, after i got my computer, it persists, but in different ways:
1-Simply freezes a bit when loading something (even a webpage with flashplayers and stuff, which means it accesses the SSD(C: ) for the flash player
2-Freezes a bit when i try to tranfer data to the HDD
3-Freezes completly when i'm like webbrowsing (way less frequent th... Read more

Hello I'm currently having trouble with this random Freeze/Crash. I just find it happening when it feels like it. Usually when these freezes occur what comes to mind is scanning my computer for Spyware and updating windows. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I still can't able to find what makes it does this.
The freezes doesn't just happen sometimes when I'm playing games it occurs even when I'm just browsing the internet, chatting, even it froze at the log in screen when windows start up.

Currently I'm using Windows Professional x64 bit. This problem also occurred on my last windows 7, which was Windows 7 Ultimate x64 bit. Both on the same computer. I'll post up my specs in a bit. Thanks :]

Hi, i'd like to request some help with my windows 7.

Today my computer just completly froze while i was browsing, had some game exes open @ same time. I waited around 5minutes hoping it would unfreeze, but nothing happened so i manually pressed the on/off button.

After that, computer got stuck in "Initializing Windows" screen so i tried to run the automatic repair and it frooze aswell.
Then i proceeded to make a usb repair disk and it managed to get me through the intializing screen, but when it managed to load back into the windows explorer (desktop), after a few seconds i realized the icons weren't even loading and i was unable to do any actions on the OS.
I've run the FRST tool, and it had no *ATTENTION* tags on the log on my 1st opperating W7 drive (D:\), so now i dunno what to do, i don't have a windows repair disk and i can't really format because i don't want to loose the data i have on the laptop.

Extra info:
About 1 year ago i had to install a second windows 7 (which is the one that crashed now), because my previous one (c:\) just stopped accepting USB hardware or even Wireless connection, not even the touchpad would work. And when i ran the scan for the C: it actually found s**tloads of problems accordingly to FRST, but i'm not sure that relates, since my other OS was working fine untill now.
Thanks in advance, ill try to extract the log asap

The 2 OS info might be a bit confusing in there,
Just to simplify:

Got 2 Windows 7 installed, one on C:\ and other on D:\
C:\ is almost totally inoperable for a year,

What is happening:During gaming, screen completely freezes and graphics go full-on distorted. This has happened now 3 times in a little over 1 day while playing 2 different games. It was once vertical bars unevenly spaced and lengthed, where each bar is multicolored and scratchy and obscures all graphics it covers. The other two times it was full-screen distortion where the scratchy, multicolored almost cross-hatch pattern covered almost all the graphics on screen. Sometimes pieces of the screen would still be animated and stuck in loop, sometimes it would be completely frozen. Two of the three times there has been a loud buzzing sound either constant or looping, coming directly through the speakers. Most importantly, every time this has happened it has been a hard freeze/crash. There is no way to regain control of the computer, it has completely stopped accepting inputs including Ctrl+Alt+Del, et al. and must be forced into power down by holding the power button for several seconds. For those curious, or if it might help, the games were both on Steam: Mirror's Edge (2 times) and XCOM Enemy Uknown (1 time.) When it happened with just Mirror's Edge, I assumed it was some kind of fault with that game specifically...when it happened with XCOM, I became suspicious it is not so acute. In both games and all 3 times it was exactly the same kind of crash, and did not seem to occur in sync with any particular event, such as a loading screen or screen transition. Just in the mi... I have a problem viewing videos of any sort. When viewed, the computer will freeze for brief periods of time (less than a second to a minute or more) and in some cases enter an infinate loop where it will crash.

This started a many months ago and I thought the video card might be bad but then about a month and a half ago, the problem cleared up. No changes to the hardware or software were done. Then a couple of weeks ago, I rebooted the computer and when it came back up, a message came up saying that it was reverting back to the last known valid checkpoint and the problem has come back.

To date I have done the following:

Tried going back to various checkpoints
Tried replacing the video card with a freinds card that was known to work. My card worked fine on his computer too so the card is ruled out.
Removed and reloaded the NVIDIA drivers (latest update)
Checked for virus and spyware
Turned down the video card settings to lower quality
Went through and removed resident programs such as Adobe viewer which loads automatically at start up.
Removed Quicktime and Real Player
Disabled ctfmon.exe per Microsoft instructions (although it still loads)
Tried removing various loaded processes one at a time and then trying the video again

None of the above did anything for the problem.

I recently installed a new motherboard, everything went fine (it was the same as the old one but i used the old one to build a spare pc that only needed a mobo and used the new one in my pc)

However windows now randomly (as far as i can tell) for the most part crashes.

By crash i mean the entire computer freezes, the light on my keyboard and mouse go off for a second and i cant do anything without doing a hard reboot.

This happens even if my computer idles from boot till crash. The crash happens within about 20 to 30 minutes, only once has it happened much sooner. I have noticed that i can make the computer do one of these freezes almost immediately if i restore a game from a backup with steam.

This only makes the problem happen sooner but it isn't the cause of it as it happens even without steam running or any other programs that i have start up.

I have updated all drivers on the computer and even updated the bios since this started happening but there was no change.

Tomorrow I intend to run a linux live CD and leave that on for awhile to see if it crashes as well.

The fact that steam restores cause it to crash started to make me think it was the hard drive however i was able to execute the restore perfectly fine under safemode with networking. I am currently running on safemode for awhile to see if it happens still.

Nothing else has changed on my system so I am not sure why the software would start acting up after replacing the motherboard with the ... Read more

My Dell Dimension 4600 (I know, it's old, but not much I can do about it) has been crashing more and more regularly and no matter what I try, I can't get a bead on what the problem is. The crashes are becoming more frequent and recently it's begun freezing at random, forcing me to manually restart it. I've run every scan I can think of (Malware Bytes, Super Anti-spyware, RegCure Pro, CCleaner) I'm limited on the information I've gleaned from each crash, as the blue screen doesn't often tell me much of anything, and half the times doesn't stay up long enough to really study it. One of the few times I managed to get my phone out fast enough to take a picture, it mentioned some kind of issue with the file fwpklcnt.sys (I believe that's the correct spelling, it's hard to tell, as I took the picture so fast, it's kind of blurry.)
Checking that brought me to an old thread on this board where someone offered talked about debugging the minidump files. Every time I try to install Windows' debugging program, the computer ends up crashing before it finishes, so I never make any headway; so I was wondering how do I figure out what's going on?

basically i'll be using my laptop and after about 20-30 mins it'll freeze, ill still have control of the mouse, but everything in the background stops responding

there are a few reasons this might be happening
-i had a virus a few days ago that i cant completely get off my computer bc its keeps freezing mid scan
-it's overheating, although i dont think it is because i ran a scan while my laptop was in the fridge, silly i know but it still froze even though though the laptop itself was cool as a cucumber
-may be some other hardware issue since its happened before the virus, but its never been this bad

the virus was called 'windows recovery' and after running an avg and spybot scan to remove the malicious components i followed online instructions to remove files manually (however there were some files in both the registry and explorer that i could not find, i assume this is due to the scan before hand)

i know i still have some parts of the virus affecting me for a few reasons, one is that my laptop background is black and i cant change it, the other is that two infected files show up in a malwarebytes scan in the mozilla folder (im on chrome now) but the scan usually freezes about 58,000 files into the scan

so i would like some help, how do i remove the remnants of the virus if my laptop keeps freezing?

Hi,

Please help!

I am having a problem for two days now with my games either freezing or crashing. It only happens with games, and it is all fine with videos, and other software.

It all started two days ago when I was playing Skyrim. The game crashed, but I was tired and stopped playing that day. Next day I tried to play again 3 times, and it would log my game, but 10 seconds after loading it, it would freeze and then give me a black screen, then back to the frozen screen, black, etc. After that, the 4th and 5th time I tried to launch the game, it wouldn't even launch. It would give me a white screen, and I would hear the music in the background. I thought the problem was with Skyrim, so I decided to Play Shogun 2 Total War, and as soon as my game loaded, it froze and kicked me back to the desktop. I tried again with Shogun 2 Total War, and same result the second time. I then tried Civilization V, and it did the same with that game. I then decided to try Napoleon Total War, and this time instead of a freeze, it gave me a BSOD.

I went through Steam and verified the in the Local Files Verified the Integrity of Game Cache, and it all came out fine.

At that time, I decided to check my Windows Updates, and my computer is up to date, with the latest update being the same night I started having problems (Don't know if there is relation there or not).

I checked my ENVIDIA updates, and there was an update that I needed to do, so I updated my driver to GeForce 320.49 ,... Read more

Hi and welcome to TSG.

Looking at your DXDiag I see the PC is a Dell, can you give us the Dell Service Tag number of the machine we we can look up the exact system specs.

Is the PC fully standard or have you changed or upgraded any hardware since you got it?

Can you download and install HWMonitor (its free). Run the program and screenshot it with your PC just sat at the desktop. If you can run any games, leave HWMonitor running and run a game for a couple of minutes then exit and screenshot HWMonitor again, post the two screenshots in a reply here.

Whenever i use larger applications my computer crashes/freezes. For example any game i play crashes when i start playing (between the start and bout 4 minutes). Before i used windows Vista 64-bit i had an XP-32bit and the same problem occured there, so it can't be that windows is the problem. What i was thinking that it is a memory problem so i ran 2 different memory tests but they didn't find any errors at all. I have 2x2gb memory units and i tried it with one of them at a time but still the same crashes for both of them. My graphics card is the 9800GTX+ and i heard im not the only one with that problem buts its hard to find a solution.
Does anyone have a suggestion on what could be the problem?

Hello. I have a lot of issues with my Acer VN7-792G for a long time.First time I received the laptop, I had several issues with the Nvidia drivers while playing games, the GPU would overheat and freeze the laptop completely, along with a very unpleasant noise. It does that even on Very Low settings. I could finally find the answer to my issue when someone on Nvidia's forum told me to never update Nvidia drivers on laptops. (I was always updating to the latest driver through GeForce Experience)I followed his advice and got back to the driver provided by the manufacturer's website (which is 359.xx), since then no issue occured, I could play games on High/Ultra 120fps without freezing/crashing. I reinstalled Windows recently through the ISO provided by Microsoft's website. I disabled Windows Update to update the drivers, and I installed all the drivers provided by Acer's website for my computer, using my serial number. But after few minutes of playing, I still experience freeze/crash, and by that I mean the laptop completely freezes and the only thing I can do is to force shut down, holding power button for few seconds. The laptop is very hot at this point. Highest temp I could record for the GPU was around 70-80°c before it freeze/crash.So I'm starting to think that the problem isn't from the Nvidia driver anymore, since the moment I reinstalled Windows 10 (64bits). Also, apart from the GPU really overheating, now the HDD seems to heat a lot too. Hi, my story starts off with me upgrading my graphics card, and I bought an HD4670. At the time, I put it in, hoping my generic 300W PSU would work and hey presto, it didn't..the screen froze on doing anything graphically intensive. I accepted the fact that I would put it in my next PC which wasn't going to be a slim one so I would not be restricted hardware-wise so I stored it in an antistatic bag in my drawer.

After a few months, I went about building my own 'average' rig just for multimedia purposes, and probably some gaming too, but nothing too extravagant. Since I had an extremely low budget, I stuck with my old motherboard which restricted my best CPU to be the Pentium D 945 3.4 Ghz (which is what I have now), 2GB DDR2 RAM (the last 1GB is coming in the post tomorrow), my HD4670 and a new PSU.

The PSU I bought was an X-Power rated at 400W with 21A on the 12V rail but the catch was that it has 2 rails (which is worse, from what I've read). When I booted up my pc with the HD4670 and the PSU, the same thing happened a few months ago, except it was even worse, instead of freezing when I opened a program, it would do it on startup. I put this down to the fact that the PSU was multirailed and that previously I had a Pentium D 820 2.8Ghz (I think).

I then got another NEW psu, rated at 550W. It's an Alpine 'Silent Power Supply' Single Railed with 32A on the 12V+. Surely this would power an HD4670 right, considering I have seen other... Read more

A:HD4670 Startup Freeze/Crash

My guess is that the video card is defective or not compatible with your motherboard. You may have to get either a new video card or a new motherboard.

Also, for god's stop buying low quality power supplies. Both the X-power and Alpine brands are bottom of the barrel manufacturer's that make really poor quality units.

Hello! This is my first post here, but i've known about this great site for a while, it has saved my hide many times. Unfortunately, for my newest problem I can't seem to find an exact solution in other threads.

I'll cut right to the chase. A while ago, one morning i started my computer as usual, only to find it can't boot because of an error with hal dll.
I reinstalled my windows, and after this incident whenever I enter a game, my PC freezes, sound loops, and after a while I get a bsod and it restarts.
I can only play world of warcraft at the minimum settings and in windowed mode and even like this i still get some crashes from time to time. If I try to enter other games I get a crash right after the loading screen, so I can't even adjust video settings.
Lately it has gotten worse, sometimes when I try to start my PC, it will run for a few seconds then restart.
I read that this might be because of the PSU or the video card, but I need to know which one i have to replace because i'm on a tight budget.

Now, I will admit that I have poked around my PC after this problem, removed the PSU, cleaned the dust from everywhere, but as far as I know I connected everything as it was.

All fullscreen games I play freezes. the time it takes varies. Sometimes after 2 minutes, other times after 2 hours etc.

First the screen is sort of "stretched" and I can hardly see the game, some parts of the screen are completly black, others got different colours.

And then if I try alt+tab or ctrl+alt+delete out it freezes up completly and I have to restart the computer. It does eventually freeze by itself (from 10sec to over a minute without doing anything it can randomly completly freeze.)

I have searched a little to try and find someone with the same problem, I did find one, and he got suggestions for motherboard and BIOS. But if that is the problem I would like directions as to how I can update these.

Hey. I hope some of you out there can help me. I seem to always have problem with my desktop computer, random crashes, freezing, BSODs and simply weird problems, usually they fix them selves or I fix them, however I do need help with this one.

The problem occurs while playing Starcraft2. The system will freezes after maybe 10 min of play. Screens go black and sound is frozen, and I have to reset manually. Sometimes though, I can play for hours with no freeze.

The Windows install is only a few weeks old and I led Windows install every driver for itself, and then updated my graphics driver to the newest from nVidia.com, installed the drivers for the Razer keyboard and mouse and then went on to install my usual stuff from Ninite.

I am aware that it might be a problem with heat (on the graphics card), however it should not be, since the computer is placed in a closet with a very large fan installed in it, so that fresh air is constantly flowing. Also no weird artifacts are displayed before the crash, which is usually the case with heat problems on the graphics card, in my experience.

I used the verifier.exe procedure to force a BSOD (don't know if this is helpfull when the actual freeze is not a BSOD). The BSOD happened before I could get to desktop. The dump analysis and health repport is atttached. My system specs are in my profile.

If I missed anything or you want more BSOD dump analysis, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Hi guys,

A couple of days ago, I started having issues with certain games. I was running Windows 8.1 at the time, and otherwise it was very stable, but Mass Effect 3, the first to have a problem, started crashing on launch. It was a random thing to begin with, then it happened more and more. I looked for issues but could find none. I updated to the 16.3 Radeon driver by uninstalling the 16.2 driver and using DDU, just in case. It didn't help. A day later, GTA V started doing the same thing as Mass Effect 3 - crashing on launch. These crashes drove me crazy because they were in full screen and I couldn't get back to the deskop, and no key combination would help (and yeah, task manager was set to remain on the top).

Unable to find an issue, I decided to update Windows, then said what the hell, and went and updated to Windows 10 while I was doing so. I also updated my bios to the latest version (stability improvements being the only thing listed in it). The issues disappeared as soon as I booted into Windows 10 for the first time - Mass Effect 3 and GTA V both launched properly and I had no issues while playing.

All until about an hour ago, when GTA V froze and crashed again, and I could not get to the desktop or task manager. Windows gave me a BSOD with a machine exception or some such error. It said it was collecting information, but was stuck on 0%. I had to force a reboot, whereby I came across this sub-forum and saw the tools you guys provide that might guide someone in ... Read more

Before I wiped my hard-drive clean and reloaded the operating system (ME), I had no trouble playing 3D games. The OS was reloaded because my original was corrupted during loading at the factory (Reliant/Systemax). Since then, every 3D game I try to play flickers in parts of the picture and crashes or freezes at unpredictable points in the game. I have tried using Direct X Eradicator to uninstall version 8.1 and reinstall version 7.0. This does not correct the problem. I have since re-downloaded and re-installed Direct X 8.1. I still have the crash problem. I use Dachshund Software's Anti-Crash program. I also use MemTurbo and keep my RAM steady at 64 (of 128) at one-minute intervals. I have a 1.4 Ghz Pentium 4 processor and am only using 1/4 of my 60GB hard drive. I use McAfee Clinic to clean up my system weekly and I defragment my hard drive weekly. Everything else works okay. I have the most optimised driver for my video card (Nvidea Riva Pro 64). Only the 3D games give me problems. The only other problem is that intermittently during shut down, I get a blue screen stating "Windows Protection Error" (but not every time).
What could be causing the problems?

Hi,

I have been using my SN95G5 for about 4 months now and i havent had many issues with it.

After the various bios update i assumed the heat issues would be fixed. When playing games (Counter strike:source at the moments full settings) the fan seems to start spinning at full speed. I expect this to be normal but on the slight occasion my computer would freeze. I put this down to the computer over heating and its a fail safe to stop the hardware from getting damaged. Am i right with this assumption because a press of the reset button and the computer reboots fine. I haven't really researched this to see if anyone else is having the same problem.

As this is quite frustrating as sometimes i am doing well then the computer freezes. To combat this i downloaded speedfan to try and see if that would help control the fan better than the bios. Hi,

Ive just got the new installment in the unreal sieres and it crashes and freezes at the same point every time i play it

All deathmatch games are great and run perfectly but as soon as i play a game-mode involving vehicles(relevant?) one of a few things happen

Things:
1. Dreaded blue screen (no help from windows is available)
2. A video card/driver error and the desktop comes up with VGA graphics off ( i have the newest driver)
3. The screen goes completely black and the only option is to switch it off

I dont know what the problem is for any of these things, i looked at the patch but it dusnt seem to mention a fix for anything like this.

Thanks for reading....Merry Christmas

Good evening everyone,

I have a dell xps 15 L502x running windows 7 Home SP1

It has a second monitor connected, doubling the screen side by side. Same resolution - 1920 x 1080.

I can be running only internet explorer or a video or a mixture of things and it will crash leaving a colour screen on the second monitor only. Different colours or a mix or a crazy pattern. Most time I have to turn the power off and hard reset but occasionally it will come back to life, but rarely. I have unplugged the second monitor and it's fine.

I have speccy to monitor temps, everything normal around 60/70 degrees.

I've updated the driver direct from dell and NVidia I've updated other drivers I can think of. I've got the latest bios too.

I've got 16Gb RAM, SSD as the main hdd and it's been cleaned inside and had the heat sink repasted. The issue was before this too so I don't think that is the cause.

I have just put on an bit defender in the last couple of days after only using windows essentials but this hasn't found anything after completing a full scan.

Please help, sometimes it does it every hour, sometimes only once a day or less.

Also..... When the computer was nice and shiny and new I could play call of duty full 1080 no problems.... I can't even start playing now without it crashing at a basic setting.

Thanks in advance.

Ben

Thanks in advance for taking time to read my post.

My laptop (Compaq Presario 900US, 1+yrs old) running XP Home has been experiencing random restarts/reboots while i am in the middle of typing an email (Outlook), or browsing (IE) the internet. So while i'm typing an email a quick blue screen (w/ text i'm not quick enough to read) flashes and then it restarts the computer. This happens sometimes after an hour of seemingly status quo all systems go, or after a shutdown and restart. Basically at random whenever it feels like it. Also, at times it will also freeze when using Windows Explorer (while attempting to backup vital documents on my external harddrive).

Oh yeah, other fun stuff going on, after freezing and powering down, then restarting i sometimes get an entire screen of exclamation points and some flickering. SOmetimes it will go right to an option of starting in Safe Mode ...

I am unsure if this is a SP2 problem as i don't recall downloading the update and am pretty sure i have not installed anything new.

Nonetheless there are some serious problems here and would love anyone's input, advice, etc.

Thanks again

Good to you all..
Im a total noob when it comes to this so please excuse any stupidity from my side, but iam very eager to learn. Quite often while im busy working on my pc (Mostly when im on the net)i would hear a BIOS beep and my pc will just stop responding. Im still able to move my mouse pointer but the programs just stop working. Its also occurs sometimes while booting up (on the "welcome" screen) that i'd would hear one beep and then my pc would freeze. I've done a low level format before including a checkdisk then a clean install but a few days later the problem just comes back. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

A:Windows 7 Crash / freeze problem

Since you seem able to reproduce this relatively readily, it would be important to find out whether the same freeze/hang symptoms also happen in safe mode, or while booting to safe mode (press F8 during startup). How you proceed from there depends on whether it does happen in safe mode or not.

Also, I'd like to point out that from a technical standpoint, and these are very technical problems, the words "freeze", "hang", "lockup" and "crash" have different meanings. You don't seem to have crashes; that's when a program or the OS completely bombs out, perhaps with an error message. A "hang" is generally used to describe individually unresponsive applications. A "lockup" is when there's no apparent activity from either the OS or any of the apps - the machine is completely unresponsive and frozen - no mouse movement, no HDD activity, no signs of life of any kind.

Hi, I dont know which thread i should post this in but anyway.. I've got this problem wihch started a few days ago. It seems to occur randomly, though it have happend when i've played games or watched youtube( thats basically what i do all the time). So, while in a game for example, and in Skype with my friends, the screen suddenly start to flash, in some kind of greyish color. My friends on Skype have told me that they hear loud electronics sparks, and then Skype crashes. Most of my program crashes when this occurs, only small programs like speedfan and avira remains. I cant open any new programs, all i get is an error telling me the computer was unable to launch X. I've tried to restore the computer back to a point a month ago ( the problem started just a few days ago as mentioned), but this wont help. I have also scanned for viruses, updated the drivers and also checked if the computer was overheating. If i restart the computer the problem is gone, but usually comes back in a few hours. Hi Guys, my sons laptop (Toshiba Satellite running Vista) is constantly freezing or crashing. Even as I composed this it froze (mind you it was of course, after I had explained everything and was just attaching the log file! ) so I'll start again, this time on a stable machine.
The machine went in for repair a few months ago for an over heating problem and was diagnosed with a faulty heatsink. It did run really hot prior to the repair but it's not doing that now, so I don't think the current problem is related. It's also winter here so room temps are cool.

I wanted to ask you guys before I put it back in for another costly repair (as they always are) to eliminate any viral or malware issue possibilities.

I have run Windows Defender, Avast, Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D and Malwarebytes (with only 2 infections found - now deleted) and use Avast as his anti virus, I have also run a defrag. Many of these scans could not complete due to the said freeze/crash issue but all completed in safe mode which also points me toward a software rather than hardware issue. The machine will run forever in safe mode no probs.

Here's the HJT log...and thanks in advance:

I am getting serious crashes, every time I boot my machine. Even in Safe Mode, and I even tried to run memtest86, and IT froze during the first test, and crashed the second time I ran it. I got some random looking error messages, but once I got a message that my CMOS was corrupted.

If I have a compromised BIOS, how do I test this, and how do I flash the BIOS when the machine crashes all the time. If it crashes during the flash, I am dead, right?

I cannot post the crash logs, as the machine freezes before I can find and copy or e-mail them.

I would be very appreciative of any help.

A:Freeze and crash even in Safe Mode

Oh man that IS serious. Crashes in safe mode mean, it's not caused by a 3rd party driver.
You could try to clear/reset the BIOS (check your Motherboard page 2-11)
Perhaps you could even try the method of fixing a bad overclock on page 3-22 to get your BIOS back to a working state.

MSI Global ? Download Center

If you get your Computer at least so far that you can boot and it runs for 20, 30 minutes before it crashes you could try MSIs live update from here http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P7N-SL...#?div=Overview
or pick your paket from here http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P7N-SL...html#?div=BIOS

My computer is crashing during the login process. I type in my password, then it goes to the blue "welcome" screen, with the rotating icon. The screen briefly flashes, and then a few seconds later freezes completely. Not a BSOD exactly, but still unresponsive, and never gets to the main desktop.

I can get it to start in Safe Mode, so I checked that all drivers were up to date (they are). I also used msconfig to stop extra start up drivers, without effect. My boot diagnostics and start up repair say there's nothing wrong. I have implemented a system restore without success. I've also used fsecure online to check for viruses and it's come up empty, and I don't want to reinstall without knowing what's causing this problem.

Yesterday, it was working fine, although the Nvida driver crashed once and recovered (it was my first suspect, but the driver is up to date). I haven't made any changes to my system recently but I've had this problem before and it suddenly resolved itself. This time I'm not so lucky. Does anyone have any suggestions, please?

64-bit Windows Home Premium, original OEM. Purchased July 2011.

A:Windows 7 crash/freeze during login

If you are able to start the system in Safe Mode, then, it seems to me you have a problem with Auto Run at Start Up of some software you have installed on your machine.
You can try to disable in Safe Mode everything that starts automatically (I mean the software which you installed, not the system elements . Do not forget to clean the registry as well.

Hope my answer was of any help.

Whenever i use larger applications my computer crashes/freezes. For example any game i play crashes when i start playing (after like 10 seconds). Before i used windows Vista 64-bit i had an XP-32bit and the same problem occured there, so it can't be that windows is the problem. What i was thinking that it is a memory problem so i ran 2 different memory tests but they didn't find any errors at all. Does anyone have a suggestion on what could be the problem?

Therefore it is always random of freeze for fresh new window XP and also sentive on network when plug network then it is freeze or crash itself.

Any idea to troubleshoot it?

Thanks

A:Portege A200 - Freeze or crash itself

Hi Jonathan,

If this still happens after using Toshiba recovery disk, it seems to be a hardware malfunction or something else because the recovery disk can restore factory settings.

Maybe your notebook is overheating so you clean it with compressed air spray. This could blow out the dust from the cooling ventilators. Furthermore it?s not necessary to disassemble the notebook.
Check this!!!

Hi!

I'm using a Dell Dimension 9150, XP SP3, Media Center Edition, Pentium D CPU 2,80 Ghz, 2 GB RAM, 230 GB harddrive

When I open the "My documents" folder through the start menu the folder comes up, but it freezes after 2 sec.

Here comes the weird thing. When I instead choose to access the very same folder, but this time through "My computer" > "Documents (Niklas)" <- that'll be my name, it doesn't freeze.

I was like "Oh well, I can live with it since I can access the folder other ways". But when I changed the icon view setting (it was "right click" > "View" > "Icons") to "Thumbnails" instead, it crashed, just like the other folder.

I therefore accessed the "My documents" folder and changed the icon view from "Thumbnails" to "Icons" in less than 2 sec (!) before it would freeze. But after I successfulled changed the icon view it didn't freeze anymore, if I changed it back to "Thumbnails" it crashed like usual. So I would say it's a clear connection with the icon view and the problem.

This has happened before though, one time. When I was uploading some videos from my camera in to a folder, the folder froze in just the same way everytime I tried to access it. I had to delete the videos through the document search engine to fix the problem.

But now I have no idea what causes the problem. I add and delete files frequ... Read more

There is a thumbnail cache that may be corrupt. This is a hidden system file.

It can be deleted but first you have to go to Folder Options > View and temporarily enable the viewing of system files.

Then open My Documents and look for a thumbs.db file. You can rename it or delete it.

You can also turn off the caching of thumbnails

Hi techsupport, I am in need of a lot of help. Just recently while playing a game on my PC my computer froze. So I restarted and windows loaded up to 640 resolution and at 4-bit. I am locked in that situation. So I just system restored to 3days ago thinking it would solve the problem. It worked for about 30seconds but as soon as I tried opening up mozilla it froze again. And again and again so I just decided to reset to factory settings. Even that didn't help :/. I'm thinking its my video card which is a nvidia gt9800 1gb. Please I tried to also clean the computer, and dusted it because I thought maybe it was overheating. Any help is much appreciated. Also, if this may help or be the problem I used my android phone to tether internet service for a short while since my modem broke 4days ago. I am running windows vista home premium 64. Hope this is the right place to post this, and I'll try to explain as best as I can. I've got an hp Pavillion laptop (1 year old), Windows XP, Symantec Antivirus/Firewall, and use either IE7 or Firefox for browsing. For the past few days, certain websites won't work in either of those browsers (we have a desktop, and all works fine there). An example, pogo.com, which I have been a frequent user of on this computer, now will load but when the pop-up window for a game opens, none of the links/buttons (including the red X to close the window) will function. I have to ctr-alt-del to get the game window to close, which will then close any other tabs I happen to have open at the time. No error messages show up in the task bar, and I can still move the cursor, but can't click on anything. I would normally think this was tied to this particular website, but if I go into my Control Panel and click on the Java icon, I can't click on anything in the window that opens either, so really not sure what's going on?

I have uninstalled all java programs and updates, and reinstalled as directed. Now have Java 6 Update 3. I have tried searching to see if I could find a solution to this problem myself, but couldn't find anything related. I ran a full virus scan last night and nothing was harmful was detected. Hoping any of you will have some great suggestions as to what I could try to fix this problem?

Thanks so much in advance!
~Jenn

In case anyone's wondering it was actually a problem with my mouse driver. Reinstalled that and everything is good to go. Evidently it wasn't anything to do with Java, but whenever I opened a window that didn't have keyboard prompts it was stuck open.

Hi, I've been having this problem for quite some time but it's become quite inconvenient as of late. The short of it is the system crashes on an almost daily basis, where the audio slushes out, CPU usage jumps to 100%, and the only way to fix it is to do a hard reset. I'd look in the task manager and not see any processes taking up all the CPU, however in the resource monitor I see "System Interrupts" is causing the freeze. I attached a screenshot of the resource monitor at the moment the freeze happens. This freeze is also characterized by the wireless connection losing access. It remains connected to the router, but loses the actual internet. I use a Belkin Wireless G 54mbps adapter. I believe my system specs will be around here since I filled them out when I registered.
As I said before, this happens just about every day. I've lost a good amount of information too, since the only way to get out of the freeze is to force a shutdown. I've seen similar problems searching around the internet but none of them have applied to me, nor have any of the fixes worked. So, anyone have any ideas on how to fix it, or at least find out what piece of hardware is causing the system interrupts?

This has happened 3 times in the past 2 days and I have no clue what's causing it. My computer has had this problem before but it just went away before. I'll just be listening to iTunes, talking on AIM, and browsing in Firefox and all of the sudden my computer freezes and it shows this blue screen then it just sits there and I have to restart.

Here is an idea of what it looks like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8akgG2BpTQ

The error I get says IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

Thanks.

Hi . . .

Please go to the folder c:\windows\minidump and collect ALL of the files. Also, run msinfo32, and sav it as an NFO (System info) file. Zip these files up and attach to your next post and I'll take a look at th dump files to see if if I can help you to locate the cause of your BSOD problems.

Hi,
Recently started experiencing BSOD's on my Dell Studio XPS w/Win Pro 7/64 bit, 12gb RAM. I used to have a problem w/the PC freezing & only way to fix was to turn it off w/power button to reset. No useful dump files were generated. I reinstalled my OS which helped for a while but then the PC started freezing again and now I'm experiencing true BSODs that display a message re creating a dump file. I've attached the output from the SF Diag. tool. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

EDIT;Sorry all, I noticed after posting that the diagnostic tool had not finished when I thought it did, I'm uploading the updated .zip file, thanks.

Hello all! This is my 1st post in the forums but it comes under bad circumstances.

Ever since I installed Sims 3(and since removed) for my daughter on my PC it has been crashing a lot. Sometimes I'll go to the CPU and that little box saying "windows is recovering from an unexpected shutdown"

Other times I'll be playing a game that I never had problems with before and the screen will turn black with lots of colour lines in it plus a buzzing sound. Then the cpu crashes.

I have checked all my drivers and I believe they are all up to date. I'm tapped out of knowledge at this point and I am not sure where to look next.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Random freeze/crash/BSOD's Please Help

Welcome to Seven Forums.

This crash doesn't have specific causes listed.

The dump file show a bug check value 0X3b, this is usually a graphic's driver, other possibilities are antivirus/antispyware/security programs, RAM, Hard drive, loose cables.

Let's start with installing a new ATI Graphics driver
1. First un-install the old driver, Download and install Driver Sweeper from:
Guru3D - Driver Sweeper
2. Uninstall 'ATI Catalyst Install Manager' from Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features
Go to Control Panel, View by: Small or Large icons in Device manager. In Device manager select Display Adapters.

3. In Display Adapters right-click on your device and select uninstall. Tick the box that says 'Delete the driver software for this device'

4. Re-Boot into Safe Mode and run Driver Sweeper, to ensure complete removal of items, Run Driver Sweeper as administrator. Right-click Driver Sweeper > properties > Compatibility tab tick 'Run this program as Administrator'.

5. In Driver Sweeper select the ATI- Display only and then Analyse:

6. Now select Clean to remove all ATI software:

7. Re-boot normally and install the newest ATI official drivers.

Then stress test your graphics card, Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark
Your temps shouldn't go over 90?C.

If you still get crashes, re-install the graphics drivers without Catalyst Control Center.

My windows xp system freezes randomly while running Eveonline. My primary problem is that the computer makes no logs for me to find the cause. The computer never BSODs or recovers and i have to manually power it off, there are no errors in any section of event viewer and no logs in the minidump folder. Can you suggest anything i can use to get some kind of report on what is causing the freezing or steps i can take to investigate it.

Any help you can offer would be most appreciated.

Lately my internet has been running slower than normal and it's getting very annoying. I don't know if it is because of a software thing or because of a hardware thing but I don't see how my hardware could be the problem its a fairly decent system(maybe overheating?).

Also my computer freezes sometimes while I'm playing Call of duty 2(makes me think its an overheating problem). and every now and then(once in every few weeks) it just restarts itself.

Ok, we have had the computer in question for about 3 or four years now, however starting approximately a year ago it started to do this weird thing where randomly the entire computer will completely freeze, if there is any sound playing at the time of the freeze the sound loops repetitively and this will continue until the computer is reset. I tried to see if there was any specific cause for it doing this but i can only say that it happens more often during more intense programs (Eg: I-Tunes, video games, more demanding browsers like Chrome and Opera) but it will crash on occasion while doing nothing or running less intense programs like Internet explorer or paint. I have done numerous checks for viruses\adware\malware and nothing comes up that ultimately fixes the problem when it is removed. I have done several scans for registry errors and still nothing fixes the problem, at one point i even used the windows boot disc to delete the registry and restore it back to default, which as you can guess did not fix the problem and mainly just left me with a huge headache. I have reset the Bios and that doesn't work. i found something relatively similar to the problem i was having which would suggest that my RAM is bad so i ran memtest but after 4 passes it came up with nothing. I used the vacuum cleaner to clean out the whole case and still no results.
On occasion, however very rarely a blue screen of death will pop up and reset the computer and usually when that happens the m... Read more

Hey guys,
I have a HP Pavillion dv6767tx(thats right, special edition XD). I bought it in November 2008. The specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8GHz
4 GB RAM
256 Mb Nvidia GPU
15.6 inch widescreen
WIndows Vista 32-bit

For two years my laptop has gone through very turbulent times with me. It has been subjected to stains, food, etc. I replaced the keyboard recently. Now my problem. The other day I was playing Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. Then the screen froze up, and slowly lines started appearing on the screen.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/__cX8BWSeUEw/TXEnlW8Z-kI/AAAAAAAAABg/UZBPLmxVXlY/s144/up2.JPG

I pressed Ctrl+Alt+Del and the game unfroze. I didnt think much of it. I also realized that the laptop was hot. It was on a glass desktop and I do not think ventilation was a problem, since the fan vent is somewhere behind the screen hinges. This problem kept recurring even after I had let the laptop cool. Now the laptop won teven start. Vista starts loading, then the screen freezes, lines appear, and automatically shuts off.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/__cX8BWSeUEw/TXEnlwzhVhI/AAAAAAAAABk/OAq5rLUjjls/s288/upload1.JPG

The fan isnt even running. I have recovered all my data thanks to the Ubuntu Live CD (god bless them). Even in Ubuntu I found some pixels would remain red and that the display was not proper. My friend told me that the problem was due to over-heating, and due to the fact that i used to leave my laptop on at nights occasionally. My battery doesnt run long wi... Read more

A:Solved: Screen Freeze and Crash

No Preaching about laptops being so Prescious. Just a reminder that with the exception of a few, Laptops are not designed as Gaming Machines, and that they run at a higher temp normally than most Desktops. When you start gaming you start running into higher temps that can damage and kill things like the Video Adapter, the Motherboard and the CPU.

Using Compressed air to blow the dust out of the vent slots can help lower temperatures.

I frequently leave my laptop running over night while it is plugged in and it does not suffer. If the system were overheating though it probably would have caused problems.

Hello.

Win 8.1 has been crashing randomly. I can't see any triggers at all.

Parts are roughly 1 year-old, ssd is 6 months old. Both CPU and GPU were overclocked, I disabled them but still crashes. Also, crashes did not happen under intensive tasks.

Mostly browsing internet, files, watching youtube stuff. I did install all my drivers using DRIVERBOOSTER, but I ran driver verifier and nothing came up. Also I think if it was drivers, something would have shown up in the event viewer.

I'd like to narrow it down to drivers, software, hardware or OS so I can figure out what is going to be my next step.

Thanks.

Well after looking on so many threads and forums i have still not found a solution to why my games seem to crash like after 10mins of play, even whats more strange i can be playing for over an hour sometimes and it will do the same again, its becoming very frustrating for me. I've read it could be either a hardware or software problem, all my drivers are up too date i think. I've done a memory diagnostic test did not find any errors. Another thread i was reading said it's Direct x related.
Had this problem with ati cards before, thinking of switching back to nvida because of personnel experiences, they seem more stable. I built my new computer myself back in January of this year, i am from the uk and would really appreciate some help please. Good evening everyone,I have a dell xps 15 L502x running windows 7 Home SP1It has a second monitor connected, doubling the screen side by side. Same resolution - 1920 x 1080.I can be running only internet explorer or a video or a mixture of things and it will crash leaving a colour screen on the second monitor only. The issue was before this too so I don't think that is the cause.I have just put on an bit defender in the last couple of days after only using windows essentials but this hasn't found anything after completing a full scan. Please help, sometimes it does it every hour, sometimes only once a day or less.Also..... When the computer was nice and shiny and new I could play call of duty full 1080 no problems.... I can't even start playing now without it crashing at a basic setting. Thanks in advance. Ben

Hi!

Any search on the internet or this forum didn't give any clear solutions, so I'll post my problem here.

I had to delete the videos through the document search engine to ... Read more

A:Document folder crash / freeze

There is a corrupt thumbnail in the folder causing the problem. See if you can find a hidden file called thumbs.db in the folder and delete it. Windows will recreate it and hopefully it will not be corrupt and it will solve your problem.
