Omen Control does not control anything

Q: Omen Control does not control anything

When ever I wake up my computer, I am unable to control any of the F Keys (to control volume, screen brightness etc) The only way that it works is if I hold the "fn" key and then I am able to adjust what I want. Nothing in the app controls anything until I uninstall, and reinstall the Omen Control app, and that's a pain to do every time I start my computer. If anyone knows how to fix this permanently I would really appreciate it.

I just bought the HP Omen 17-w033dx today, and was surprised that the Omen Control software was not installed. After trying to download the HP System Event Utility, I cannot find the .exe that launches the Omen Control program.  I am able to use Fn + esc to see the system's specs, but I cannot find the Omen Control program. (I would use it to change my backlit color). Is this possible on my model? Thank you!

HP Omen 17 so noisy - how to control fan speed? My new HP omen 17 w010ng drives me crazy - it is so noisy. Even if the Geforce is switched off, the left fan starts to switch on very easily, running a Youtube video is enough. I have read about HP Control software allowing to control fan speed - it was very difficult to install and I only found out that the ventilator settings are already on normal. I switched the ventilators off in Bios, still not much change. Then i ensured in the graphic driver that Geforce is only used for Lightroom and Photoshop, this helped a bit, but still I see that ventilators speed up far earlier then required. I have tried HWinFO64, but no fan speed controls are possible. The freeware Speedfan is the same, I see the fan speed but cannot control it.  I found the freeware Notebook FanControl, but there is no configuration file for Omen 17 available. Did anybody out there solve the problem? How can I control and reduce the fan speed?

I just bought a HP OMEN 17.  I wanted to adjust the keyboard and fan but to my surprise no software was installed.  I went to the HP support website and found a bios update and hp event software.  I also found the software for the hp control.  I updated the bios and installed the softeare.  The FN esc key will not work{does not show bios and computer info) and the control panel does not work.  Any help would be appriciated.  I would hate to have take the computer back.

I can't use my Control with any other key to copy, cut, paste, or
bring up task manager.

Help please and thanks, Mary

Here is my hijackthis text file.

A:Control/C Control/V control/alter/delete doesn't work

Mary, keyboard problems are not invariably software or malware-related. First things first - what OS are you talking about ? XP, Win 7, Win 8 or what? What type of keyboard is it? PS2, USB or wireless?

Disconnect it and reconnect it a few times, reboot and try again. Turn the keyboard upside down, placing one end on the edge of a thick book, and thump a few times on the back with your hand. Sweep the crud onto the carpet.....

Is it just a keyboard hardware problem, and if so which keys? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/keyboard-shortcuts#keyboard-shortcuts=windows-7 tells you a lot of key combinations with ctrl and shift and alt. Tell us if any or none work?

Open a document and try typing a bit of text. Do all the characters work?

If it appears the keyboard is faulty, can you borrow another to test?

Quite often, keyboard problems are down to wireless problems: and can often be solved by re-installing the keyboard driver.

Hello :)
I hope I put this in the right area..

I've been searching for a solution to this volume problem for a while now, but to no avail. I've found others with a similar problem, but no solution. So here's the deal: I just got a new motherboard, and ever since I got it my volume control has been faulty. First of all, all sounds are very quiet, even when all volume sliders are set to maximum. Next the main volme control has no effect whatsoever on the volume of the computer. I can can slide it all the way to the top, or all the way to the bottom, nothing changes. The only thing that makes any difference is the Wave control and it barely does anything. Also, when I put "Mute all"...it doesn't mute. However when I put mute for Wave control, no sound comes out.
All this is incredibly annoying because I often listen to music on my computer, but now I basically can't hear it. To note: I don't have a volume control on my keyboard, or on my speakers, and I know nothing is wrong with the speakers.

If anyone could help, I would really, really appreciate it. Thanks :)

Do you have any other soundcard-like devices like a USB headset?
Do you have the latest drivers for your soundcard installed? Please check the motherboard maker's website.
Did you get some special program with the motherboard drivers that would give you more control over sound than the Windows standard volume utility?

I'm running windows XP on an old Dell Inspiron 1501 and I'm trying to get my microphone to play directly through my speakers so I can record them both simultaneously. The only answer I've been finding is to tick the 'microphone' checkbox in the volume control playback properties panel, but I don't have a microphone checkbox. There should be a 'microphone' box under SW Synth and CD player but I don't get one apparently.I've downloaded the latest SigmaTel Audio drivers from Dell and despite not having a problem with them before this, I'm inclined to believe that they're the problem. Any ideas?

A:No microphone control in playback Volume Control panel

Okay well of course I find an answer right after posting the topic:
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3517/t/19295458.aspx
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3517/p/18112824/18235810.aspx#18235810

Those two pages detail how to get an Input Monitor checkbox which functions just like the microphone one I wanted (although you can only mute it, not alter the volume). I used Instructional Set 3 from the second page, having to add the 'RecMonitorMute' entry as detailed in the first page and I can now hear my microphone input directly through my speakers.

HOWEVER, I'm still unable to record both the microphone and speaker sound at the same time. I thought recording the 'Stereo Mix' channel with the microphone coming through the speakers would work but it isn't and I don't know why. Any ideas?

Hi all,

Access 2003 with VBA code time again!

I have a form named "MyForm" with a single tab control on it named "MyTabCtl1".

The Tab Control holds three pages: "Tab_Page_1", "Tab_Page_2" and "Tab_Page_3" and each page has a number of bound controls on it.

Now, on "Tab_Page_3" I have an unbound control called "Descriptor_00"

I wish to create code that, on loading the form, will set the ".text" or ".value" property of "Descriptor_00" to be a combined string derived from other controls on the same and other pages.

On a standard form, I'd use something like:

Me!MyControl.Value = Me![First Control] & ", " & Me![Second Control] & (etc)

to build my combined string.

But, how would I do this for a control on a page of a tabbed control ? What's the syntax cuz I'me puzzled!!

Does this make any sense?

All the best

Chris

I'm running Windows 8.1 64bits.

I have noticed since a couple of days ago that my Control+Tab shortcut does not work anymore. Not on text editors, not on web browsers, not on property pages, nowhere.

Control+Shift+Tab (reverse tab navigation) still works.

I have checked the results on an application called "Ethervane ActiveHotkeys". In there, it states that Control+Shift+Tab is not an active hotkey but that Control+Tab IS. I assume that some application decided to globally pick up Control+Tab for itself.

I have tried restarting (and testing as quickly as possible before all programs load), I have tried closing down all applications that the task manager will let me and still the shortcut does not work.

I tried going to msconfig and disabling all programs and non-Microsoft services with no luck, but if I start Windows 8 in Safe Mode then Control+Tab works again.

I tried running Hotkey Commander; it shows Control+Tab as being bound by some application, but does not show which application it is. If I delete/disable the hotkey binding from inside Hotkey Commander then it works again until I restart.

I'm stumped as to how to troubleshoot this further and any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A:Control+Tab does not work anywhere anymore (Control+Shift+Tab still works)

I'm having the same problem as of today, and basically mirrored your findings.  The only thing I can think of that changed in the last 24 hours was the nVidia drivers and Geforce experience..

Hello!
I got myself an Audio-Technica AT2020USB+ condenser microphone a few weeks ago, and I haven't really found out how I can change the gain, which I hear is important to do.
There is only one slider where the gain slider also should have been. The mic doesn't have a gain know like some other microphones have.

As you can see there is one slider. It only changes volume as far as I know.

How can I change the gain, is it needed, or can I maybe control gain using the volume slider?
If I can't change it directly through the mic or through the control panel, how can I change it? D:

Thanks in advance!

A:Can't control gain! No slider in control panel!

I have a recording studio (Sonar X3) and use several AT mics but they are not USB mics (such as the AT2035 and AT2050).

"Volume level" is the same as "gain". You can adjust the "Volume Level" or you can adjust the "gain" - both are the same thing. On mixers, amplifiers, etc, some will call the volume control "level" and others "gain".

A USB mic should have its own listing in the Sound/Recording Panel. Whatever slider that is has, such as what you show, should adjust the volume level. Many recording programs also have volume level adjustments.

Thanks for reading this. Boy, do I need help.

Somehow I got my permissions all messed up. I can't access some folders. I have worked a lot trying to use properties-security tab and playing around, and I can sometimes change permissions so I can use a folder. But I am trying to open "Documents and Settings" and it will not let me change permissions on it and I can't get into it. I think I could before this mess started.
When I start up, instead of one account (jim) which had administrative privileges, now I have two, Administrators and jim. I always had all permissions with jim, but somehow it's messed up now.
Why can't I have complete control over my own computer as jim? Nobody else will ever use it, it's in my office. But Windows keeps stopping me over permissions, or the message "Access denied."

Anyway, so I logged out as administrator jim and logged in as Administrator. Now I don't even see the folder Documents and Settings.

How can I once and for all get complete control over my computer so I can open or delete any folder or file?

Thanks so much for any help, it's making me pull my hair out.

Jim

A:I've lost control of permissions, how can get get control back?

There is no "Documents and Settings" for Win7, unless perhaps you've un-checked "hide protected operating system files". This "Documents and Settings" folder name is an XP concept, which for Win7 is really part of \Users.

If you open Explorer, and select on the "Organize" item on the menu bar, then "Folder and search options" from the dropdown list, and then View tab, you can CHECK that "hide protected operating system files (recommended)". That's a good thing. And it will also automatically prevent you from trying to access hidden system files that you have no business trying to access by that name since they're now invisible and cannot even be seen. They will instead appear with their proper folder names in Explorer, and you shouldn't be denied access to these properly named folders.

And while there, up a bit in the "hidden files and folders" item you should UN-CHECK the "show hidden files, folders and drives" item. That will let you see your \Users\<userid>\Appdata folder, where much is kept for each user... and you certainly should see \Users\Jim.

Underneath \Users\Jim you should also see \My Documents, \My Music, \My Pictures, etc., which is where your data (for Jim) would normally be saved unless you put it somewhere else.

Hello,

I downloaded and installed sphinx FREE Vista Firewall Control version for Vista Firewall. This apparantly enabled outgoing traffic blocking in Vista Firewall

However, COMDODO used to warn me about some stuff connecting when Vista booted, e.g MS Media Centre wanting to connect to internet etc.

But Vista Firewall Control doesn't warn me about these outgoing connections. Anyone know why?

The FREE version doesn't support System/Core application protection. What does that mean exactly? Is that why it doesnt warn me about media centre etc?

When it runs it will prompt you to extract hijackthis.exe to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis. If you would like to extract it to another location you can change the directory. When it is done installing, HijackThis will automatically launch. When the license agreement appears, select I accept and then click on the Do a system scan only button. I recently discovered the shortcut keys for copy and paste, cntrl c & cntl v, do not work for certain programs. For example, if I have a picture using Windows Photo Gallery (or Paint) and I hit cntrl c and try to paste it in an email, cntrl v, nothing happens. I can, however, copy the same picture into a Microsoft Word document. I can also do a cntrl-alt-delete sequence and it brings up a task manager window.

I cannot copy the same image from Microsoft Word into an email page. It also does not work when I right click on the picture and hit the paste or copy feature.

I use AOL for my mail and Firefox for my browser.

I seem to have many problems with Vista revolving around User Account Control, Privileges, Permissions, Ownership, user names, file control and directory structure. etc.

I?ve been working around UAC problems, but there has to be a way out of this. My most recent issue:

IE has problems fully loading web pages. With IE, like several programs that I run with this computer I get messages that say I have corrupt files. I get object error warnings Chkdsk does not fix problems.

While shopping for a new car battery, with many pages open, the computer completely hung up last night. I had to kill power and reboot.

IE7 did not work, I Unloaded and IE7 would not work also. Google Chrome is fine, I have internet access. I reset all defaults.

After hours of messing around, I discovered the way to start IE is ?Run as Administrator?
Then like so many other programs I run, I get the screen Windows screen

When I dumped my old files on this XP420 computer from my old computer, They resided in User ?Mike_W_old.? I had no permissions with this user, so I moved all the files to ?Pat? I renamed user/administrator Pat to Mike _W under the desktop, but the user pat did not update under the OS C:\ drive \ Users\ Pat and there is no option to rename here.

Good evening,

I've noticed a difference in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Personalization between editions of Windows 10.

My wife's laptop is running Windows 10 Home, and her personalization screen looks like this:

I'm running Windows 10 Enterprise, and my personalization screen looks like this:

Notice that the menu options on the left, and quick access to change the theme settings on the bottom are missing from the enterprise screenshot.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Is it simply a difference between editions? Or is there a setting that is not turned on in my installation?

Thanks in advance!

When I got this laptop I had Catalyst Control Center when I right clicked the desktop, but when I installed a new driver it changed to AMD VISION Control Center. I didn't really notice anything different other than that.

Is it suppose to change like that, did I download the wrong one or have the wrong one in the start? I did the automatic scan and manually put the information in but they gave the same results.

That's their new name for CCC. They probably had to change it because CCC was associated with ATI.

http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe

Save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialog boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialog.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialog box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
At the top of the Notepad HJT log screen, hit Edit then Select All then click Edit and then click Copy doing that copies the text to the clipboard, you won't see it yet....
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Decided to update my GPU driver ATI mobility radeon 550v ( version 8.692 ) and the ATI CCC 10.1 to the latest 11.2 and the GPU driver. GPU driver can be installed and uninstalled with no prob... the prob was with the ATI CCC 10.1 . Did not uninstall this and went str8 to the new installation update. Hello
I dont know where to start , it seems to be one problem after the next. I guess to start with, If i leave the computer for more than 2 min there are about 50 pop ups. I run both spybot and ad aware. Since i downloaded ad-aware i have removed 1181 things from my computer, but the same ones till come up after removing them. My whole computer seems to be running extra slow. There is a delay when i click on anything. This all started with error messages that kicked me off the internet, but those went away.

When i run spybot the three things that always come up are:
Look2me:class ID this comes up as a registry key
Look2me: Library this comes up as a file
VX2/h.Abetterinternet: Global Settings this comes up as registry value
these will not delete. A check goes up next to them sometimes and other times there will be a circle with a cross through it. They always come back no matter what.

when i ran hijack this is what came up. I am afraid to delete them because i don't want anything more to go wrong with my computer.
these were the results:

After my system boots I get an active x control permission before IE7 is opened. This has been happening for a couple of months. It doesn't bother me to have to X it away, but I am wondering why it is appearing at start up.

IE randomly shut down my pc last 2 days after performing a search and clicking within a search result page. Made me see red tonight cos I was burning a DVD!

Any idea why I get 50+ "object is locked", "skipped" folder details when Kaspersky scans?

Here's my start up log and hijack log. Those hijack files highlighted in green I don't want/need to [email protected]
Those files highlighted in purple I don't want.
Those files highlighted in red, what are they?

Okay all just get to the point about 4 days ago i really noticed it i couldn't logon or turn it off so i went to safe mode well i had malware bytes scan and protection bitdefender and spyware docter monitoring with security task manager after only finding two virus which is blsht but it was odd cause they were dll's that i had to have and then svchost went to a diff control and went up on security risk so i logged off and kept trying to get back on regular acount, eventually i did but only to find out that my bitdefender was patched and now someone elses server. then nearly all the programs were saying being monitored and sending mopar to port 0 "mopar my name"
Then i was like what the hell so i went to services and there was a new a couple new one in the services and they were owned by LAWNMANserver and lawnmanworkstation but by that time all of my programs were out of my control i also noticed that under most of the logs under the description in security task manager they were saying "hook" or "heur" and bitdefender said was changer and with bitdefender you can nearly do anything on the computer!
Ive took screen's off a lot of weird process if you want too see just reply

Hi,

I am a new member and thankful I found this forum. I have read some of the post which I think I have the same problem with them. This is my problem:

1. I have notice that
My Computer was rename to Ahsan's Computer
My Recycle Bin was rename to G.W Bush
I got Home Video.exe (scan by my anti-virus)
I got CSRSS.exe (scan by my anti-virus)

2. I think I manage to clean these as it was not shown anymore in my PC.

3. Here is my problem after I clean the above virus.

a. I cannot see my drive c.
b. I cannot use the right click button of my mouse at the start menu bar.
c. I cannot see my control panel.
d. I am restricted to access some of my folders like the My Documents, Desktop, etc.

I am hoping that some experts can help me solve my problem and to have back the full control of my PC.

Sorry If I posted this in the wrong section of this forum.

I am using Win 7 Pro 64 bit and I use Photoshop a lot. Just a few days ago UAC started interfering every time I try to launch Photoshop. I have no idea what caused the change but I don't like it. I just explored the UAC settings and I have the notification slider set at the midpoint. I did not knowingly change that before the meddlesome trouble began.
What I want to know is how to get UAC to leave Photoshop alone without disabling notification for all programs. There should be something like a white list for trusted programs, but I can't find one.

A:more control over UAC

There is no trusted whitelist unfortunately. And if there was, malware could easily use it to its advantage. I believe thats the reason there is none.

I am not sure why photoshop is prompting for admin rights. It should not need them. Is photoshop updated?
Do you have it set to run as admin? Right click the shortcut and click properties-compatibility tab. Is run this program as an administrator checked? If so remove it.

Otherwise, its only one click so it should not be that much of an annoyance.

Hello. My Window 8 recently corrupted quite badly to the point that the only valid course of action was to reinstall. I have the OS on a SSD (C: ) with most of my data on a separate HDD (Now assigned to F: but I think it used to be E:?..), so I figured I would just disconnect the HDD and perform the reinstall, so it would not have to back it all up (Which would have actually been impossible since part of the issue was that my USB ports were almost completely nonfunctional...) Now, however, I cannot seem to take control of F: or anything in it.. I have only actually run into one issue so far (But I have only been reinstalled a few hours, haven't done much more than redo drivers etc) in that I cannot delete programs that I am trying to delete because they no longer function (I assume because their registry data is now gone) But I would very much like to actually be able to do that as that is a lot of wasted space... also I imagine that will translate into other problems down the line....

Please help me out, here? If you need any more information, ask away.

A:I cannot seem to take control of F:

How/where is this new F drive installed? Does it show up under disk management? If so, please provide a screenshot. Do you need to recover any data from that hard drive or would it be OK to just wipe it clean?

I use my brand new P50 with the new workstation dock an two external monitors. If they are active, the system fans moslty run at high speed causing annonying sound, although there is no system load. I suspect that the NVIDIA graphics is acitvated if external monitors are attached. And this causes the fans to speed up. I already tried the BIOS setting "balanced" for the fans in AC mode and set the the fan control to "quiet" using the lenovo settings tool in Windows 10. But none of them helped. How can I get a quieter fan? Regards.

Solved!
Go to Solution.

A:P50 fan control

I found out that the fan control is mainly influenced by the temperature reading of the PCH:- The fan starts at a temperature of 69 C- The fan stops at a temperature of 65 C When the Notebook is placed in the dock and external monitor are on, the idle power consumption raises from 25W to 32W. This seems to be enough the heat the PCH over 69C an the fan starts. The the temperature drops again and the fan stops at 65C, which makes the temperature to raise again. So in the end we have a continuous start/stop-cycle while there is no significant system load... The CPU temperature is always below 42C. Question: Which is the normal range of the PCH temperature? Is there not enough cooling of the PCH? Or is the fan controller just too sensible? Thanks for any help!

Hi, and thanks in advance for the help. My wife has a Gateway laptop and has picked up a nasty virus. She is on the internet quite a bit. She does a lot of surveys and the like. She has XP home edition, ad aware and is running Norton antivirus (newest version). She has numerous pop ups and she is unable to change her hompage. Here is her Hjt log:

A:Pop Ups Out of Control need help!

Welcome to TSF.

This will take a few passes, due to the extent of infection.

Please download Combo.zip.

1. Make sure you have a live internet connection!
2. From within it, double click on combo.exe & follow the prompts.
3. Depending on the severity of the infection, it may reboot Windows once or twice.
4. When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
5. Please post the log in your next post (combo.txt)

I will require a new HJT log too.

I was trying to recover some images on a memory stick that weren't being read. Somehow all these GIF, JPEG and other images are on my desktop. I keep trying to remove them but more copies are made faster than I can delete. What can I do? Thanks.

A:Help - I need control again

I don't understand what the problem is. You are copying files from a memory stick to your desktop, and are now trying to remove them? They are probably still being copied from your memory stick, depending on the size and the amount of files you are copying up.

Could you be more specific? And welcome to TSG.

I am currently writing a book. About half way through I decided to indent the first line of each paragraph. Going back to the start I began to indent each first line. During this operation I noticed when I pressed Tab, the 'L' indicator went straight to the far right of the page removing the first two lines of text with it. Going to Format/Tab I reset the tab to 0.5" (default). The next application of the tab was normal but the remaining operations, the tab went to the far right. The tab dialogue box indicated that the new setting was 5.75"
I have tried everything I know to fix it without success. I add that about the time this problem occurred, I had just installed Buffer Zone Pro. I uninstalled that program but still no success. It seems to me that there might be something wrong with the current job I am doing as this problem does not occur in new jobs which are not influenced by this gremlin.
I would prefer not to do anything drastic like reinstall Word as I have over 100 pages to edit with this problem.

Have a large Access 2000 input form on which I need to add a major number of additional fields, so I want to split it into two tabbed pages. I'd like everything that's now on the single-page form to go on the first tab. I inserted two pages on the form using the Toolbox, but when I cut everything from the form and paste it to the first tab, it goes on the first tab alright. . . but it also remains on the original form (it's not because the tabbed pages are transparent and I'm seeing the original fields thru it; I've set the tabs to be "Normal", i.e., NOT transparent). I can't understand why all the fields remain on the original form when I CUT, not copied, them.

What I want to do is REPLACE the existing form with one that has two pages, the first of which will duplicate the original form. I created a similar form years ago, and recall having this problem then, but solved it. . . but I'll be damned if I can remember how. Access Help is no help. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing; I'm sure the answer is simple.

Hello there and welcome to Bleeping Computer's security forum. My name is David, I will be helping you with your log today. It is a good idea to print off these instructions:This will be useful as there is a possibility some of the instructions will need to be carried out where internet access is not available. You may also like to save these instructions in word/notepad to the desktop where they can be easily found for the same reasons as above. A print out of the instructions would be a good reference to make sure you don't yet lost. Also, it is important that you complete the instructions in the right order, and also that you don't miss any steps out!If you have any queries about the process or just general questions, just ask.1) You are missing one important program on that computer - an antivirus! This is somewhat suicidal in today's digital world. You need to install an antivirus program as soon as you can and run a complete scan of the computer. AVG and Avast are excellent, free antivirus programs..Never install more than one antivirus on your system - several together can cause problems and decrease performance.2) Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following if still present:R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = about:blankR1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blankR1 - HKCU\Softw... My computer seems to work allot harder when i'm booted into windows.

My fan is always starting up and never at an average speed ,it's on low and then starts up faster for 10 secs and then goes back to low this is annoying.

When i'm in ubuntu it's on a set speed most of the time and i hardly notice it until i putting a decent load on it ,in windows this is constant fan thrashing going on even when i'm doing nothing.

I just wan't windows to play nice to my hardware ,i don't need a fan failure. My fan does not sound good to begin with and i like to know what FREE program i can use to monitor my fan so i know when it's gonna die.

For the past few weeks, I've been having trouble with trojans and the like. However, it seems like this one keeps changing or something. I'm running Windows XP, and I was first having trouble with something like "Trojan.SHeur.2" and "Trojan.Zlob", now I've turned on my computer to get a flooded list from AVG8, saying that C:\Windows\bdsvi2.dll has been infected. Now, approximately every 30 seconds, a new RUNDLL error appears on my screen, saying "Error loading C:\WINDOWS\bdsvi2.dll; The specified module could not be found".

Any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Im been looking into finding a way to control my fan speed in softwre terms besides using ati tools. Ati tools I believe has been causing alot of conflicts with my video and sound drivers so I started using the newest calayst 6.7. But I saw you cannot turn control the fan speed with this software.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can control the fan speed?

If I don't control the fan speed, the fan doesn't even sound like it on and it causes my games to crash.

One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.

This type of infection allows hackers to remotely control your computer, log keystrokes, steal critical system information, and download and execute files without your knowledge.

If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Please refer to Microsoft's Online Safety article for tips on creating a strong password.

Do not change passwords or do any transactions from the infected computer until it has been cleaned.

Please note that these fixes are not instantaneous. Most infections require more than one round to properly eradicate.

Please stay with me until given the 'all clear' even if symptoms seemingly abate.

Browsers (IE and Firefox) are blocked from your web site. I am writing this from a different computer.

Could not update Java.

Have not been able to update AVG or AdAware, but both run. AVG finds Heur, AdAware finds registry issues that have closed Task Manager.

Kaspersky site was not available either. Or Run Random's. I downloaded the RSIT onto a flash drive and was successful gathering the following:

Approximately two weeks ago all of the media on my pc disappeared, within hours all the files were gone and drivers removed. So I immediately used gpart to secure erase the drive I reflashed bios and did clean install of win7. The pc is on lan behind Sonicwall tz210. Within a day it began again, while I still had access I ran every major rootkit detector out there they all came back clean. The pattern just repeats. Now it also has control of both me and my son's phone's (android) it installed vpn's on both. It is just malicious.

What I've learned: it operates while in safe mode, every time I log in event viewer sees from 2 to 6 additional logins immediately after. It attaches my pc to a network.
Pc/Pc as an example. Net commands always lead back to 127.0.0.0

It changes tactics and seems almost vindictive. I am at whits end.
Today while trying to replace drivers using a live cd I mounted the drive while working I also had a usb  installed somehow I intercepted 100's of html documents I have no idea what they are. It has virtually crippled the house.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

A:Something has taken control of everything!

Hello and sorry that you were not attended to earlier.

Have you contacted your Internet Service Provider yet as they must renew your account.

Next (big job) If you had Any personal information (banks / Credit cards / Etc) used via this computer, then all of your banking details need to be watched and your bank needs to be informed.

You can also contact your local police to inform them that you have a current hacker who may be stealing your details, and at the worst they may be stealing any credit / passport / personal details that you had ever installed.

OK, you may think I am overstating things, but at the moment you are being held up by a common criminal

These people need to be caught, and you need to take the first step by calling your ISP now

Since you tell me that you have no secure contact or computer, am I able to run any scans ??
Can you tell me if you have any Active Antivirus or Antimalware programs that you can scan with and Copy / Paste results back here ??

Also can you run this first simple scan ? =>
Download Security Check by Screen317 from HERE
* Save it to your Desktop.
* Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
* Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
* A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.Note: If a security program requests permission to access the Internet, allow it to do so.

Thank You -

My dad was browsing today and got infected with a rogue disk defragmenter. It's process is a bunch of numbers, I didn't write them down, but just ended it. MSE popped up with a realtime protection warning saying that it was infected and is cleaning it. It is still there, and startable. I am now running a scan with Malware Bytes and have disconnected it from the internet. Please help!!
UPDATE: After a google search I found a reliable removal guide on none other than BC. Thanks again! I'll edit this thread if I have further problems with this virus.

A:HDD Control

Good to see that you found an applicable removal guide on BC.The MBAM log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM. Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system. Please post the log and let us know how the system is running now.Edit: Please use "Add Reply" when posting new information, in preference to editing a previous post.Thank you.

Hi there guys and girls!

Im running Windows XP on this computer, and im looking if there are any Powetoys or applications out there for setting access rights to other users on the same computer etc.

My little brother and two little sisters use this computer, and im concerned about some of the pop-ups or website that they might be visiting. Im leaving this computer to my parents when I join the RAF too, so they will want to be able to block websites, set websites, block certain programs to use, and allow certain programs... etc etc - is there any way (or any programs out there) that allow you to do this sort of thing?

Thank you for your help

My control panel is missing from my start menu. When I click on "set program access and defaults" I get the error message "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator". This is my home computer and I know that I didn't change anything. Any suggestions? A DELL tech told me I would have to reinstall windows. Really don't want to have to do this.

A:No control panel

Good news is you won't have to reinstall Windows. Bad news is that you've most likely got a virus on your PC.

I highly recommend that you head over to the HijackThis forums. Follow this 5 Step Guide to post a log. The analysts over there will help you remove any viruses or nasties from your system.

We can try something to see if we can re-enable control panel. Note that if the virus or spyware program that disabled control panel is still on the computer this fix may only work temporarily or not at all.

1. From the Start menu, choose Run...
2. type regedit
- You can screw things up if you go around changing things with regedit when you don't know what you're doing, so be careful here.
3. From the Edit menu, choose Find...
4. type (or copy and paste) NoControlPanel in the search box and uncheck "Keys" and "Data" (so only "Values" is checked)
5. Choose OK to begin the search. It should find an entry that looks like
NoControlPanel REG_DWORD 0x00000001

6. Double-click this. Change the value to 0 (zero) and choose OK
7. Press F3 to repeat the search. There may be multiple entries you need to change. Keep doing this until it reports it can't find any more

Note that you may need to reboot before the control panel reappears. Also, can you get into control panel if you go to Start > Run and type "control.exe" without the quotes?

There are many ways that the bad guys ca... Read more

I have windows xp home, and pro. I have always been able to control or at least gain access to programs running in the back ground. I have also been able to use task manager to find out who and what is causing all the ruckus. I now have vista ultimate downloaded to one of my computers, with this OS I have no way what so ever of getting to and stopping the programs running in the back ground. I should put it this way, I don't know how. I have noticed that I am also not able to go into add/remove programs and see a listing of all programs on my computer. The only programs that it will let me see are the ones I downloaded to the computer myself. It may be set up to keep people like myself from messing up my computer which is great, but I would like to be the one making that decision. Anyway, how can I get to, and see what programs are running in the background. The programs may be required to run in order to maintain the system which is fine, I just want to know who and what is running. Task manager is out of the question, it shows nothing.

A:[SOLVED] control

Hi donk

Sometimes the best way to do things is to use 3rd part programs. Just asking, you said:

Quote:

You mean that you downloaded the OS to your computer, was it done by a file-sharing program or website? Also did you mean, installed into your computer? I am guessing you meant installed, so we will move on to 3rd party programs.

The Sysinternals Microsoft Technet tool Process Monitor is a great tool to use when it comes to tweaking your system and watching what your computer does. Also for Add/Removing Programs to see the most things up to updates, you can use the program called CCleaner. It is a great tool that you can use to clean up your computer, clear your registry of errors, and easily remove any program from your computer including updates.

There is no "Appearance and Personalization" on my control panel. I need "Appearance and Personalization" on my control panel to download fonts.

A:Control Panel

There are two ways to display the icons in Control Panel, which are "Category view" (the default) & "Classic view" (preferred by experienced users).

The icon you refer to as missing (Appearance & Personalisation) can only be seen in the "Category view". Click "Category view" in the left pane of the Control Panel.
