Dell Inspiron 15 7559 Major Screen Flickering After Waking Up From Sleep. Requires Restart.

Q: Dell Inspiron 15 7559 Major Screen Flickering After Waking Up From Sleep. Requires Restart.

This is a recent problem I ran into with my new 7559. About a week ago I did a factory reset because the speakers were having a problem, and it worked fine for a couple days. Afterwards it would go into this flickering loop after it would wake up from sleep. This makes it so anytime I'm not using the laptop I basically have to shut it down, which really ***. I've posted a link of what the issue looks like. I ran the dell hardware test and my computer passed, and I also updated my drivers so I don't know what else to do. Thank you to anyone who can shed some light on what's happening.

Hi all,
I've recently bought a Dell 7559 refurbished, with the Intel core i5 and GTX 960m. Within a day or two of use, the screen began to flicker upon booting up or waking from sleep mode, and it seems that the longer the laptop was in sleep/off mode, the worse the flickering is upon booting up. I've been trying to figure out what's going on, I've updated all drivers and such from the Dell support page, but nothing seems to fix this issue. Does anyone know what's going on? I'm certainly bummed out to have run into this issue within just days of buying the product. I've uploaded a youtube video to try and show what's going on.

A:Dell 7559 screen/display flickering issue

Hi DukeBaluk,
I’d suggest that you update BIOS on your computer to check for issue resolution. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, then download the BIOS from BIOS section onto the system and install it.
http://dell.to/18r60nI
Also, we will have to perform the ‘LCD BIST’ (Built in Self-test) on the computer. Please follow the steps mentioned below to run the “LCD BIST’.

Turn of the computer.
Press and hold down the ‘D’ key on the keyboard and press the Power button.
You will see different colors on the LCD screen. Please check if the issue reoccurs on the screen.

In addition, please connect the system to an external monitor and check if the issue reoccurs.

About three months ago, my wife noticed the laptop was crashing when she'd wake it up.  The error was "Bad Pool Header."   It would reboot and everything worked fine.  I couldn't find anything online about it and I was tired of being haunted with the Windows 10 upgrade.  So I went ahead and upgraded the laptop to Windows 10 hoping the issue would resolve itself.    It didn't.  I received the same error.
Today I took some time and researched the error some more and tried to contact Dell Support.   That didn't go so well.   Since I bought a refurbished unit from Amazon, the laptop is still registered to someone else.  They won't talk to me until the warranty information is updated.  (That's a separate battle I'm fighting with Amazon.)
Anyways, I'd love to restore the laptop to the original settings but the laptop doesn't have a DVD drive nor does it have a restore partition.  There is also no recovery image saved on the drive.   So, I'm stuck unless there is a way to find out what is causing the bluescreening.
When I was troubleshooting today, I had the system checked and there was one update that installed for the chipset.   After the chipset update was installed, the issue remained, but the error changed.  "System Service Exception"    The laptop reboots and it returns to normal.

Hi Dave,
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/24FHltP
And reinstall the chipset drivers manually from the same site above.
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. Also, run an extended / thorough test on the memory and HDD.
Run a stress test on the system - http://dell.to/1NEc1Y4
The system is compatible to work with Win10. If you are keen to restore the system to W8.1 - then see this link - http://bit.ly/1RMaCdK
If you have the invoice of the purchase, which states the service tag of the system - not a paypal receipt, then you could transfer the warranty ownership online here - http://dell.to/1KpVTpc

Hi, I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 7559 for school, my first laptop ever. It took me about 6 months to finally decide on a laptop, and I'm very happy with it...it's beautiful. But, I've had two problems with the display. First, there is some slight yellow discoloration on the right half, not a big deal, just my ocd, probably just some backlight bleed or something. But the big issue is that the screen brightness flickers constantly. I can only really notice it on the lower brightnesses, but I use those so its a problem. I've tried EVERYTHING. Tons of driver fiddling, power option fiddling. I cant tell if it flickers in the bios screen or lcd bist, but I've disabled both NVidia and intel HD graphics drivers and no matter what I do, it still flickers. This makes me think that this Is a hardware issue. If anyone has some insight, I would really appreciate it. Should I send it in for repair, or just wait a bit as I read online somewhere that the lcd backlight needs to "settle in" for it to stop flickering with takes a decent amount of screen on time. Sorry for the long post, but this is my first pc and I'm a little bit picky about the function of my things. Thanks.

When I installed windows it automatically found a driver for both the nvidia 960m and intel hd 530.  I went to nvidia site and installed the latest drivers even though they warned it may cause instability. When  I realized things were going wrong with the screen tearing I immediately uninstalled and installed the correct video drivers from the website here.   However I am still having problems with screen tearing horizontally across the whole screen at least with videos playing through steam.  At the time of the screen tearing I did have my laptop connected to my 1080p tv via hdmi.  Any ideas?  Do I need to reinstall windows completely to get rid of the newest nvidia driver I installed?

I have had my dell inspiron for 5 years now. two years ago, I dropped it and the LCD shattered. I purchased a new LCD from Amazon and took it to a PC repair store nearby. (Fry's Electronics was the first choice but couldn't install the LCD due to liability issues.) I got my computer back and it worked perfectly. Now fast forward a month later and i haven't used it in about 2 weeks. I go to start up and the screen is black, I check the brightness and that didn't seem to be the problem, then i see that the LCD is fine but the backlight is very dim and keeps flickering like a light about to burn out. Could this problem be hardware and a part stopped functioning?(motherboard/inverter I hear are common culprits) Or could this be a software issue?

Hi Folks
about a month ago my all in one 2310 (1 year old) started badly flickering for about 2 minutes.
I checked the driver updates - all hunky dory.
Ran the pc checks - hard and software - nothing found.
The flickering disappeared but is now back big time -daily  - today it took about an hour to stop.I booted ran in safe mode but was just the same.I logged onto with the admin account but didnt improve.
For me it looks like a cable perhaps is loose inside the pc but not sure I want to open it up.
Any ideas ?

Dave

A:Bad screen flickering on a Dell Inspiron All In One 2310

Hi dave63,
The system LCD screen or the Video card on the computer may have gone bad. To determine the same lets follow the steps below:
(1) Press and hold down the power button along with the ?D? key on the keyboard. Please ensure you release them both at the same time.
(2) This will bring up a grey screen, followed by red, then blue, then green, and White which allows you to inspect the entire LCD for color purity on each screen. It also helps us better identify defects such as, cracks in the LCD or stuck pixels that may not be apparent in a normal viewing mode.
If the computer fails the test, then the LCD screen will need to be replaced. However, if the test passes, then the Video card will need to be replaced. Please write back with the results

Hello, I purchased this touch laptop months ago and it has barely been used or even mobile. I have had an issue with the screen flickering for quite some time, it came out of nowhere prompting me to use the laptop less.
The screen does NOT have an issue with flickering and brightness. The screen flickers EVERY time I move/touch the monitor at all. Sometimes when I move the entire laptop. Please give advice on what I should do as I don't have a ton of $$ to go anywhere to get it fixed and I bought the laptop in brand new condition from Craigslist so there is not a warranty.
Thank you for the help and please do not respond if you have the same problem, but you do not have a viable solution, that helps no one.

My laptop Dell Inspiron 15R 5520(Core i3 2370M 6GB ram win 7 64bit)  worked perfectly from Nov2012-April2016.

Now the screen started flickering and jumping since a few days and there's a white dotted line that appears along the top of the screen that starts the minute there is any kind of display.
How do I figure out if the inverter on the screen is faulty or if it's the screen cable or the whole screen itself?
To satisfy my curiosity I opened up my laptop to find that the lcd cable was badly crushed under the screen hinge (definitely , a design/manufacturing issue! Will dell take responsibility?), and each time the screen was shut/open there was substantial pressure on the cable was what I noticed.
Unfortunately I'm out of warranty and I don't know what to do.
Please advise on fixing this issue.

Hi, I can't seem to get anything higher than 1920x1080 in the list of available resolution options when I connect my Dell U2713HM monitor to my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop. I've run this monitor at 2560x1440 on another laptop over HDMI in the past but that was with Windows 8. The Intel HD Graphics 530 Control Panel doesn't offer any resolutions above 1920x1080 for the external monitor and adding custom resolutions results in the error "the custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity". I'm using the same high speed HDMI cable that worked at 2560x1440 with this monitor on my previous laptop. I'm fully up to date on all of the drivers for the laptop.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not sure what else to try. Could this be a Windows 10 issue? Should I try the standard Intel HD Graphics 530 drivers from the Intel website?

A:Dell Inspiron 15 7559 connected to Dell U2713HM monitor over HDMI can't do 2560x1440 resolution in Windows 10

Hi JonoBloo,
The hardware on the system supports the 2560x1440. It should be a software issue. I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the video card driver from Dell website as these drivers are tested on the Dell system. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the video card.

Press the Windows key and Start typing devmgmt.msc and then press enter.
Select the Display adapters listed and right click on it.
Now select properties.
In the properties window, under Driver tab, click on Uninstall button.
Check “Delete the driver software for this device.”
You want to delete the driver click OK.

After the uninstall finishes restart the system. Then reinstall the Intel video card driver for issue resolution. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS, then download the video card drivers from Video section onto the system and install it.

Hey All,
Just as a preface this was a laptop bought from Amazon Warehouse deals, so it is a used laptop. No idea how long it was used...But the hard drive was brand new per CystalDiskInfo. I'm guessing this laptop was opened but never really used. This is an Inspiron 7559, a pretty common gaming laptop, running Windows 10.
Out of the box this thing was running incredibly sluggish. Even when setting up Windows 10 navigating between pages was taking 10+ seconds for the mouse input to register. I also tried a fresh Windows install just to be sure. The only things currently on the computer are the standard Dell bloatware and a few hardware monitoring tools to diagnose the problem. And when I say slow, I mean opening up windows file explorer or task manager takes 30+ seconds and mouse/keyboard inputs take 10+ seconds. When I hit the wall I do notice that CPU frequency jumps down to 800MHz, assumingly the lowest possible frequency based on the multiplier range.
My temperatures generally sit between 40-60C, but my fans never seem to actually start up. When I  updated the BIOS the fans started blasting, so I know they aren't just totally dead.
I've also run multiple hardware tests that say the hard drive, memory, and CPU are fine.
Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this or any other means of diagnosing the problem? The Dell Diagnostics toolkit was run and the fan test didn't throw any issue, but I don't see any way of controlling the fans to even ... Read more

A:Inspiron 7559 becomes unusably slow about 2-3 minutes after every startup/sleep

Hi OKP11,
Does the system overheat, although you have mentioned temperature fluctuates between 40-60° C? Does this freezing / slowing issue occur with or without the adapter connected? Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter?
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. Also run the extended tests on the HDD and memory. These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
If the system is still slow or tends to freeze then, restart the system and press f2 to enter BIOS - leave the system in BIOS with the adapter plugged in for as long as possible and check if the system freezes while in BIOS - you would notice there is a system clock ticking in BIOS - if the system freezes, then the clock would have frozen as well.

I use it for work, mainly translation tools, and also for some ocasional gaming (Witcher 3, Cities skylines, etc.).
So I was thinking on maybe upgrading it a bit, but as I´m on a budget I can only afford upgrading the ram up to 16GB or to buy an SSD of 250GB, what would you suggest to upgrade?, which of both would have more impact on the performance?.
Thank you very much!

If it's running a conventional (or hybrid) hard drive, the SSD will make much more of an overall impact than the memory upgrade.

A:Dell Inspiron 7559 ram upgrade

There's only one memory socket on this model, so an 8G isn't going to get you an upgrade.  You need a 16G module to upgrade.
These are available, but brace yourself of the price - they're expensive:
(as you can see, going from 8G to 16 causes the price of a module to rise by a factor about five).

Just got my computer back from Dell tech support having sent it because of an issue with no audio output device installed and the red x on the toolbar. The computer is in the exact same state as before I sent it with nothing fixed. I've tried reinstalling the drivers multiple times, checked if audio services were running and all of that. Feels like a huge waste of money at this point and is especially disappointing because this computer was actually a gift for someone. Has anyone had this issue with this computer and have it resolved without resorting to an external usb sound driver?

A:Dell Inspiron 15 7559 No Audio

You can diagnose this by performing a system recovery (reset the laptop back to the original factory configuration.) If there is still no audio immediately after recovery, before getting on the internet, then the audio hardware has failed and Dell will have to fix it under the terms of the warranty. In other words they could not say it is a software issue and therefore not covered.
If the recovery does fix it, but the problems recurs after getting on the internet, then probably some Windows Updates-related issue.

hello, i barely had my laptop for 2 months and i already have problems. so far i've been dealing with these issues:

1. can't revive the laptop from sleep mode and had to manually turn it off. as far as i know, it's either the critical updates from microsoft or a vista thing. i figured that microsoft will come out with an update to fix all that.

2. the laptop would unexpectedly freeze, i've tried to wait it out and eventually i'm forced to a manual shutdown.

3. the other time it froze there was a prompt asking to diagnose the memory(??). (i'm not sure what it was because i was so surprised and i've never had that happen to me.) the scan didn't find anything wrong.

4. the first time i used my webcam, the blue screen flashed and rebooted the laptop.

i'm not very computer savvy, so i don't really know what happened. i'm thinking i'd return the laptop back to dell for repairs or try to do a system restore back to when it first arrived.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have just bought a Dell Inspiron 15 7559 and it just arrived this morning. However, when I try to play any sound the speaker starts to crackle heavily. The only solution that works is plugging in headphones and unplugging them which seems to work. But once you shut down the computer, and turn it back on, this problem still exists. I have already updated the realtek hd audio driver as well as the bios. I would hate to have to return the laptop as it works flawlessly otherwise.

Hello,
I have bought this laptop about 2 months ago. Since i bought it, I have noticed that it's performance is not what i should expect.
I mean, i can be in Google Chrome viewing a page, and in the moment i scroll using my mouse, the laptop like freezes for a milisecond and then continues. Same happens when playing videogames, i can be playing at low/ultra details, 60+ frames per second, but every now and then i get a frame drop and then it goes back to where it was before, it's super annoying and shouldn't be happening.
I always thought it was something with the game, that it was not well optimised but it seems to be the computer.
Things i have done:
1. I reinstalled Windows 10 using the software provided by Microsoft.
2. All my drivers are up to date
What could it be? my laptop specs are:
6th Generation Intel Core i7-6700HQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.50 GHz)]NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4GB GDDR58GB Single Channel DDR3L 1600MHz (8GBx1)1TB (5400rpm) Hybrid HDD with 8GB Flash
All these things occur with the laptop plugged or not, it doesn't matter. Gaming, i have used Balanced and High Performance battery mode but i don't see any difference. This has happened to me for example in CS:GO, LoL, World of Warships, etc.

This is a benchmark i did with HDTune: http://imgur.com/a/wf68f

A:Dell Inspiron 7559 video stuttering

When you are saying that it is stuttering, does it do this all the time or is it something that will be working and then you get a quick stutter and then things return to normal?  If this is happening, it's most likely just a point in time where the files that the processor needs to access files haven't been loaded into RAM yet.  Your processor then has to wait for the HDD to load the file and continue on from there.  Does Google Chrome do this all the time?  Again, when it first boots or if there is something that computer has to load on the webpage such as Flash or anything like that, it can cause a temporary delay in the time that it is loading.  If it's doing it constantly then it might be something to look at, but once in awhile, it's not uncommon for this to happen during loading.  5400RPM is slowest speeds for HDD and it can cause your computer to have to wait for loading here and there.

My 7559 laptop is still relatively new but I feel like ever since an update in June it's been acting strange. It froze for no reason and wouldn't shut off when I held the power button. I had to unplug it and let the battery die. When I restarted everything was fine so I ran McAfee got nothing and moved on.
That said, ever since it can't seem to handle sleep mode as well as it use too. I was able to leave it on for a few weeks at a time and now I feel like I have to turn it off daily or it's Memory goes up. It's also frozen once since the initial freeze but that time it actually let me hold the power to turn it off.
I'm fairly certain I'm not the only one experiencing this. I think it's the update that caused it, but I don't really have any proof other than McAfee hasn't found anything. I've been keeping the task manager up to keep an eye out but the only things that are noticeable are System and Compressed memory and McAfee. Well those and Chrome but chrome's always been a hog.
I can deal with it for now, but I'm hoping there will be an update or something to fix it. I'm really just posting to see if anyone else has experienced this or something similar.

A:Dell Inspiron 7559 high Memory

There is no need to wait until the battery runs down to turn off a frozen laptop nowadays. Simply hold down the power button until it shuts off. It will take 30-40 seconds.
You can uninstall updates if you think there is a bad update. Open Settings, Update, Advanced Options, View update History, Uninstall updates. Not all updates can be uninstalled but some can. You should also check the Event Viewer for clues as to what might be hanging up the computer.

Hello. It's a common problem with that model. See the Choppy/Skipping Audio FAQ for the solutions other owners have found. The 7559 section is the 1st section after the links at the top of the FAQ.

Hello, I'm having a small problem with my new Dell laptop.
I can't find the option where I could set my keyboard backlight to stay on constantly. It keeps falling asleep (turning off) after a short period of time. It is really annoying late in the evening as I always have to wake it up. Is there any way I could turn off the automatic sleep mode or atleast prolong it?
Thanks in advance :)

I have brand new a Dell Inspiron 7559 (Core i5 model) which i received 2 days ago.  The inbuilt speakers work fine. But when I plug in my earphones, the is sound only on the left side and a very faint sound on the right one. When I check the left and right sound in the sound properties, both the test sounds appear on the left side only. The earphones I am using are Klipsch R6. And here are no issues with the earphones since they work perfectly with my phone and other Dell Inspiron laptop.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 15 7559 a month ago. The first week it was amazing with no problems at all.
Then when I was working on it, left it plugged in and left is for a while, then came back to it after 1 hour or so, I noticed that the battery was discharging.
Did not mind it until it went to "plugged in, charging" 0% and it shut off completely.
I tried to turn it on several times and it did not turn on.
Called Dell service center and advised to remove the battery. I cannot remove the battery completely because of the screw type but managed to remove the cables.
I turn it back on and it worked again. But after a few days the probem kept recurring.
Its going like "plugged in, charging" but it is not charging. Or "1 hour 05minutes to full charge" but after an hour it will be "1 hour 40minutes to full charge". I mean what gives.
Have done all that was advised in the internet but not hing is working.
I have done restart task manager, uninstall API, and all that, but the problem is recurring.
BIOS was updated recently also. So is it hardware of software.
Please help for anymore ideas?
Its brand new, it rocks when it is working, but I dont have the patience to kept on checking for hte battery status. It is getting annoying also.
Thank you.

A:Dell Inspiron 15 7559 Battery Problems or So I think

Hi SANDMAN99,
Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Hey everyone,
I was using my Dell Inspiron 7559 this weekend and suddenly the audio from my headphones quit. I had no problems in the first month I had the laptop, and the audio from the speakers still works fine. When I plug in the headphones the dialog box also doesn't show asking me about the audio device connected to the port. I know the headphones work on my phone, and I've tried deinstalling the Realtek audio driver and using the native driver. Nothing seems to work. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm grateful for any help!
Best,
Cameron

As the title says how exactly do you achieve this?

I have an ISO Ran RUFUS 2.6
GPT Partition Scheme for UEFI
Fat 32
8192 Default
X Quick Format
X Create a bootable disk using
X Create Extended label and Icon Files

so the next part is the Kicker Dell did a number on their Bios and rather than using standard logic as we have done so many years just setting the boot order to "Boot USB" first, you "Only" have the option to create a "Boot Program"!!! so you select your USB Drive then which ever file you want it to boot I'm Assuming? So I tried selecting Setup, bootmgr.efi, and autorun with no results!

I get the secured boot error crap, turn that off and I get Legacy BIOS (that defeats the entire point) What the hell happened to Win95 Boot Discs and FDISK?

I am so frustrated with this garbage, I found out the hard way with Windows 10 and trying to nuke the SSD and put a clean install of 8.1 on it.

Any directions especially concerning Dell's wonderful BIOS would be appreciated!

Thanks

A:How to install UEFI on Dell Inspiron 15 7559

Try setting BIOS back to default then press F12 when you boot. Select USB device from the UEFI section of the boot menu.

Hello,Got the Dell Inspiron 15-7559Standard with 100 gb 2,5 inch HDD.Inserted a Kingston 2.5 inch HDD, works fine. Now days later I also inserted a M.2. Sata SSD. Both Disks work. But when selectign legacy boot and first selecting the second HDD it does not boot up the 2nd HDD. It gives an error message saying boot.msgr is missing.Tried :- Legacy mode, Secure mode on and off- Turning back to Uefi mode with secure mode on and off- Legacy mode and all kidns or boot orders. When I press F12 at startup and go to boot selection and select 2nd HDD, there is no problem, it boots up my 2.5 inch ssd no problem. Now I installed windows also on my M.2. Sata SSD and this one boots up fine in legacy mode. No issues at all. But also now when setting 2nd HDD first it still boots up the m.2. And once again manually selecting the 2nd HDD at startup works fine.I would like to use the 2.5inch ssd as boot device and the M.2. sata as storage.I have my reasons for this lol. :) Can anybody supply me with some advice/help?Thanks in advance!

I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 7559 laptop about a week or so ago and several days later realised some odd USB transfer behaviour. Tried all 3 different usb3.0 ports, same problem.
(Bios was updated immediately after cloning hdd to m.2 ssd and all drivers updated.)
(I swapped the 1TB hybrid drive with a Samsung 850EVO and installed an m.2 Samsung 850EVO) (OS and most files on the m.2 drive)
External hard disk: Transfer of large sizes or even a single large file (GoPro video near 4gb) occurred rather erratically (fluctuating between 90+ and 40+ mb/s) and eventually reaching 0mb/s and pausing there for quite awhile before transferring again at fluctuating speeds, sometimes reaching 0 and pausing again. File transfer completes eventually, but after a ridiculously long time.
The same hard disk works fine with my desktop (writes at a steady 90+mb/s)

External ssd: transfers for awhile before reaching 0 and giving an error code. (works fine with my desktop) (error code: 0x8000745D)

Thumb drive: writes fine at 90-100+mb/s, just like my desktop.
Notes: File transfer problems mentioned above were from both the m.2 drive and 2.5mm drive, internal transfer from the m.2 to the 2.5mm Samsung 850EVO ran fine. Samsung Magician installed, problems persist with RAPID either enabled or disabled.

Solutions I've tried but have not made a difference:
Chkdsk /f /r
Booting into safe mode (transfer problems existed even in safe mode)
Uninstalling and reinstalling usb drivers
Disable/... Read more

Hello,
I got this laptop recently and ran into an issue when connecting to external displays, in all games I am unable to set my video settings to 60Hz when choosing to project my display to the external screen only. If I duplicate the screen then I have no issue, but I want to be able to close the laptop lid and have 60Hz as an option, otherwise everything shows up as 59Hz which causes stuttering and flickering. The weird thing is that in Windows my refresh rate shows up as 60Hz at 1920x1080 but when launching any game 59Hz is the highest I can go to when set to display as "second screen only" in Windows 10. Please let me know what I could to fix this, and if it is not clear let me know.

Hello,
Recently I bought the Dell Inspiron 7559 (gaming one).
It has the option to add a SSD drive. I bought a m.2 SSD 256gb drive from Plextor.
See link for the version. The BIOS and Windows both don't recognize the SSD.
I have put it in and out several times. Updated BIOS / Resetted BIOS. It just won't recognize it.
Do I have to tweak any settings in BIOS for the SSD slot to "activate"?
I thought this was a plug and play thing. How can I get this to work?
Note: I also have my HDD still plugged cuz it has everything on it (windows etc).
I want to convert windows to the SSD if it CONNECTS EVER.

Help would be appreciate SOOO MUCH.

Thanks in regards.

That's a PCIe SSD -- this system supports mSATA (SATA 6G), not PCIe.  You'll need to exchange the drive for an M.2 SATA/SATA6G version.

Hello, I have a brand new Inspiron 15 7559 that is having some issues. First and foremost the keyboard is useless after the computer goes to sleep. This just started a few days ago, about a month after receiving it. The screen comes back on after opening the lid and the touch pad works fine. But no buttons on the keyboard produce any response. The keyboard becomes backlit like normal but does not produce anything on the screen when I try to put in my password/pin. I can click on the Ease of Access button and get the on screen keyboard to appear. This does work and allows me to input my pin. But that's no way for my laptop to run. And a laptop without a keyboard is pretty useless. My second problem is that my computer no longer sees my Nvidia dedicated graphics card. I only mention this here because I am not sure that the 2 issues are unrelated. I noticed a few days ago that the Nvidia icon was not in my system tray ( I think that's what it's called) like it normally is. So I opened it manually and it told me that it could not find a driver for this computer. That is odd because just the previous day I had been looking in the program and all was fine. So I followed the link to get a driver. I followed all the instructions on the Nvidia site and downloaded the driver for the card my computer came with. But when installing it a window popped up saying that no hardware could be found on my computer for that driver. Not sure why it doesn't see it.

I have to shut my HP w2558hc monitor down and restart it to get it to awake from sleep mode. Started about two weeks ago. The operating system is windows 7 pro with a gigabyte GA H97-D3H motherboard. The video is onboard and fed by HDMI cable. Processor is Intel i5 4430. Everything else has been great for a year or so except for this little monitor problem.

Thanks for your help

A:Monitor requires stop and restart to awake from sleep mode

Problem solved by using scan now with repair (sfc /scannow), but had to do it in safe mode to get a repair. Scan indicated there were a few corrupt files and couldn't fix them all. but did solve the monitor restart problem. This is my first SSD { fairly new), and wonder if the SSD might be more prone to corrupt files and/or not being able to correct them all.

Thanks

Guys I messed up real bad... I saved up money for a year to buy this laptop and finally yesterday ordered it in ebay, and afterwards going through the details I noticed it didn't say that it had the gtx 960m video card but rather intel HD graphics built in. The price is the same as the other versions of the laptop with the gtx on eBay and I just happened to be a complete moron not checking twice as I should've and order this particular version http://www.ebay.com/itm/272181768757?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
My question is does it even exist? Dell 7559 without the gtx 960m? It's the same price as the ones with the gtx video card.
I don't even know what to do...

A:Is there a version of the Dell inspiron 7559 without the gtx 960m graphics card?

When you are buying from online Market, you have to double check you are getting an functional complete legit products, and read reviews from many sources before buying a specific products.
In your case, Dell Inspiron 15 7559 was an "Manufacture Refurbished" of returned Inspiron 15 to the factory according to the description.
Thus, read carefully next time, as refurbished are likely "tested" to function as intended. From the page on Ebay you have brought, it might have been a bad buy, so you got rip off for the wrong product if you did not get your refund. Ebay in my view is not too safe, it more of a trade market  versus places where you can buys computer officially. Thus this problem is between you and the seller.

PS: Yeah most I15 7559 model should have Geforce 960M graphic as detail here >http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-15-7559-laptop/pd?ref=PD_OC<.

While playing CS:GO, my laptop froze and won't shutdown with holding down the power button, had to open up the back panel and pull the battery connector to shut it down. This is the first time it happened, had the laptop since Feb.
Is it related to cpu temperature management? Ambient temperature in my room is kinda high lately would peak to 87 degrees C using HWMonitor from 80 normally.
Any feedback/replies to this post is pretty much appreciated! Just want to know what to avoid to keep it from happening again.

Hi All,
My problem is ... no, not quite so, my PROBLEM is Windows 10 Anniversary Update gets downloaded, installed and failed again and again. When it goes through Windows Update Center everything goes well but finally after a reboot I get a notification that the system couldn't install the update. No other information or error codes provided. After that Windows Update Center finds the same Anniversary Update and everything goes in circle. With this utility the whole process goes well but finally I get popup window that says "Error occurred while installing update". When I tried to reinstall Windows 10 from the image created by MediaCreationTool I got error code 0xd0000034 (finally!!! something I can use to find a solution !!!), but looking through the Internet for this code didn't help to resolve this. My 6 month old Dell Inspiron 7559 has starting coming apart from around the left side hinge. The keyboard plate is being separated from the bottom chassis and can see inside. Dell support say its damage or wear and tear. Really!. The laptop has been at home and not moved beyond 5 feet for the last 6 months. There is NO damage and even a microscopic inspection will not reveal any damage. Wonder how UK support brushed me off even after sending photos and saying not covered by warranty. Had been a Dell customer for last 12 years and this is my 4th Dell and definitely the last one. Cannot stand a company like this

Every time when the laptop goes to sleep mode by itself and I turn it on again, the touch screen will be partly unresponsive, to be more specific, it is the upper part of the screen. The problem is only at the screen, mouse and touchpad are working fine. Now I can solve the problem by pressing power button to let it sleep and press again to turn it on, but I don't want to do this everyday.

A:Dell Inspiron 3147 11.6" - Touch screen 'partly' not working after auto sleep

Hey, guys, I had the partially non-responsible touch screen (top right part) + 100% CPU. What I ended up doing was a clean install of Windows 10 and NOT installing the Dell Quickset. I repeat, DO NOT install Quickset. Hardware works fine without it and I stopped getting 100% CPU after idle and touch screen works normally. The only drawback is that I get an unrecognized component (ACPI\SMO8810\1), which I suspect has to do with keyboard locking in tablet mode. This isn't the 100% full solution, but I get the impression that the Dell power plan is not coded correctly. Any questions you guys might have, let me know!

I have the Dell Inspiron 7559 (non-touch) and was able to install the Windows 10 Anniversary Update today after a long session of sitting though Windows Updates. Everything seemed to work fine, except that I had to uninstall my antivirus (Symantec Endpoint Protection). No biggie, I'll just reinstall it after the update. I think it also said that the Intel WiDi drivers had to be uninstalled as well, which it did automatically, but that was all that happened during that process.
So I attempt to do so, and I was able to install it via the .msi file (the .exe file wouldn't work for some reason), and the computer begins to reboot. Constantly. The laptop would freeze somewhere from when the login screen appears to a couple minutes after that. It would hang for a couple minutes, then reboot. It rebooted enough times for it to go to the Windows 10 recovery options. I just told it to restart so that I could tell it to boot into safe mode on the next bootup (shift-click restart when I got inside Windows). It works, and I then tell it to boot into safe mode.
Now my laptop won't boot at all. It won't go past the Dell logo. I can enter the BIOS and the boot options menu, as well as load the ePSA diagnostics tool and have the tests pass (no errors). But it won't get past the Dell logo after this. It doesn't restart, flash lights or anything like that. Just hangs on the Dell logo.
How can I resolve this issue?

As of yesterday, if I put my Dell XPS 13 9350 (Windows 10) to sleep and wake it up again, it boots up from scratch, applications complain that they were forced to quit with unsaved files, etc.
It seems this specifically occurs if I unplug or plug in the power cable while the laptop is asleep. E.g. if it's plugged in, I put it to sleep, I unplug the power and then wake it up, it restarts. I'm fairly sure it occurs whether I put it to sleep by closing the lid, using the power button, or using the Start menu.
I assume this is due to some update Dell Update made a couple of days ago, but I don't know what it was.
I've since updated drivers from the Dell site, uninstalled video drivers (which fixed this problem for someone else on this site), and specifically checked that the battery-related drivers are up to date, but none of this helped.
Any suggestions?

Since I purchased this computer, I had daily problems where the screen will randomly go dark/black and the computer becomes unresponsive (even during work)- the power button is still on/lit and the computer appears to have entered hibernation or sleep.  The computer will not respond to any other commands and only a hard powerdown/restart is possible.
The problem happens randomly and I have not been able to correlate it with any action, program, temperature issue, or other causality.  I have run full diagnostics and all of the software/drivers are updated.  The problem existed since I purchased the computer, and has remained since I added memory and a M2 SSD drive to the open bays.
I initially thought it was a hibernate/sleep or power configuration issue, so I did not initially return the computer within the initial 30 day period.  All of my efforts to turn off hibernate/sleep setting via GUI and CLI have been unsuccessful.
When it works, it works great.

Hi--
I bought the laptop mentioned in the title, the Inspiron 17 7559, a little under 3 months ago for school as well as some gaming.  A couple days before I spoke with tech support the cpu fan (fan on left side if you're looking at the top of the laptop and are in front of it) began making a horrible grinding/squealing noise.A little background: before going to school, I spent a decade as field technician on both military advanced electronic systems and production-class robotics systems.  So I opened the back panel just to glance at the fan, see if maybe there was a glaring physical abnormalities, as  the fan was clearly grinding on something and when it kicked into high would be scraping fast and hard enough to produce this noise.
I open the back cover, a screw falls out from its happy little home (which is, needless to say, both Not A Good Thing and Ominously Foreboding), followed by the shorn threading which had come from another screw.  Also, three or four  screws were VERY loose.  Which explained why the case had begun to separate near where the monitor pivots attach to the case.  Completely structural screws.  I tightened those up a bit, but didn't mess with any screws in the component housing area, as thos can have specific torque settings and such, and overtightening can do real damage.  As for the fan, its sitting a millimeter or so lower in its housing than the other, and even the slight spinning it did while I t... A:BSOD upon waking up Dell Inspiron 1525

Hello,

I see your BSODs started about 5 days after you installed Windows 7, which makes me almost suspect a firmware issue. Try installing this BIOS update: Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]

It's not too much newer than your current version, but it's worth a shot for sure. If that doesn't work, post back here and we'll start on some hardware diagnostics.

We this laptop a little over 2 years ago for family use (though I kind of took it over). It worked perfectly fine. Around the Summer of 2011, the computer would be slow to wake up from sleep mode (Opening the computer lid). I would always use it plugged in, as the battery was pretty much a BADery. Recently my mom's 8+ year old computer started to die on her, so I decided to get a MacBook Pro and give my mom her my old laptop. I thought the sleep problem wouldn't be bad but now it's taking even longer to display the login screen. I know the computer is waking up from sleep mode as the power light, num-lock light on the laptop, num-lock light on the external keyboard, and the wired Optical Mouse is turned on, but the monitor does not bring up the OS, and the other lights (indicating disk use, Wifi, etc.) never light up. Sometimes after waiting it comes up, but it slowly takes longer and longer. I originally thought it was the battery, and when I took the battery out, I noticed there was a large lump, followed by some smaller lumps on it (no wonder the battery stinks). Even though I took out the battery (it's operating off the AC power ... Read more

A:*HELP!* Dell laptop has issues waking from sleep.

Does it work fine if its shut off and then booted up?

Windows 7 isn't officially supported on that laptop, it may not properly support Sleep functions on Windows 7. You may want to make sure you have the latest BIOS for the laptop and all the latest drivers for all the hardware as well as the latest service pack for Windows 7.

Hello,
Today I received a brand new 7559 laptop and when I switched it on out of the box, the screen out not display anything but the backlight came on. Since then, I performed the self test for the LCD display and the colours appeared as they should on the screen but nothing else. I attached an external screen via hdmi and the laptop is running as it should, just not appearing on the laptop screen. I've updated drivers and such but no luck so far. Is there any way to resolve this or will I need to return it and wait another week and a half for a new one?
I opened up the back just to see if anything had been moved in transit but it all seems to be ok.

I bought the Inspiron 15 7000 (1TB HDD, non-touch) two months ago and have noticed that my screen flickers slightly intermittently. I'm adding a link to a video showing the problem at the bottom of this message.
I first noticed the problem during my first week of using this laptop and assumed it was a driver or software issue. Since then I've searched through forums to see if someone else has a similar thing going on. A lot of people have commented negatively about the screen for this model but that's mostly because of the colors and low brightness.
I have installed all the latest drivers (video, graphics, BIOS) from Dell's website as well as played with power settings (Dell Power Manager Lite and Intel's Graphics Properties) but to no avail. I should also point out that having the laptop on battery or plugged in makes no difference and the problem persists.
Please let me know if there's anything else I should try before sending it back to Dell. Thank you!

After upgrading to Windows 10, my Inspiron One 2320 screen now flickers red, green blue, white and black.  I connected an external monitor that works fine.  I ran all diagnostic test that were all successful.  I contacted Dell support several times and was no help other telling me that "Dell does not support the upgrading of its computers to Windows 10."  I ran a driver update program to possibly update the graphic driver to Windows 10, this did not work.  I would consider even replacing the graphic card to one that might work with Windows 10 if I could only get model numbers of graphic cards that are compatible.
My Inspiron One 2320 has loaded properly before and sometimes just starts working after a few minutes or hour of using it with the external monitor.  There seems to be either a glitch, a loose connection.  The Inspiron One 2320 Screen shows the Dell and Windows logo, bios, etc.  Any other test that I can perform or graphic card models I can try?

I have been having this problem for 6 months now and it's making me go insane. The problem is while im playing ingame my screen will go completely black all i can see are faint outlines of things then it will flicker back to normal then back to completely black again. This will go on for 15 minutes or so before it finally stops and it was happening once a day. Since then things have gotten worse, alot worse, Now when it goes black it will not even flicker back to normal it will stay completely black for about an hour or more or until i quit the game. It's so frustrating because I can forget about grouping or raiding at all because well, if the screen goes black im SOL. This is happening in WoW, EQ2 and WC3. I'm at the end of my pitiful rope please get me some help, if you can't help refer me to more tech forums where i can post my problem.

Stuff you might wanna know: I have the latest drivers for my video card (NVidia 6600 GT)I have the latest version of Directx(9.0c)I don't believe there is any overheating going on as i have a box fan on high sitting infront of the open case and there is an air condition directly behind the fan. Also don't think it has anything to do with sound as I've disabled sound in all those programs and the problem still persists. This is all I can think of right now. Thank you for your time.

Very frustrating problem I'm having. I have a multi-monitor setup (not sure if this is the cause of this issue as I have multi monitors on my other machines).

Sometimes an application will freeze (hey, it happens) and I'll do a ctrl-alt-del, then hit task manager.

Then everything goes black.

I can see my mouse and can move it around, but that's it. I cant see anything else, and they keyboard seems to have no effect. In the end, I have to power down my machine from the power button.

I've tested this a few times...it's not just task manager. It's ANYTHING (change password, switch user, etc). Just goes all black. Not pitch black, but the screens go completely dark but I can see and move my (white) mouse icon.

This sucks! Help!

We purchased the 7559 in May 2016 and have been having problems since then.   Several attempts to get this addressed with no luck.  Numerous driver loads/reloads/reconfigurations.   The diagnostics show "no problems", and now Dell Tech Support is saying that it's a software issue requiring a software warrany for an additional charge (before we can ship it back for repair).
Definitely my last Dell given the effort they put into not addressing the issue.
Has anyone else seen this problem on the 7559 (4k or otherwise)?  Did Dell support the issue?  And if so how?  (Please not another "new" driver)?   I have a few months on the warranty and have tired of the technical support that doesn't help.

Check your temp readings in Bios. Also clean your tower out with a can of compressed air. Also Check your Hard drive to see if it is failing.

Downloading UBCD which is in my signature.Burn the ISO Image to a blank CD using Imgburn (How to burn a ISO Image using Imgburn) burn at lowest speed. With the newly burned cd boot with the cd go to HDD>Diagnostics>The make and model of your hard drive, Seagate, Maxtor, Drive Fitness which is Hitachi, Or Western Digital. Perform a short and long test. Could also be called "Standard" and "Extended" test or also "Comprehensive" test.

If you can not find the right test for your hard drive your OEM computer may have it's own hard drive diagnostics testing tool. Refer to your OEM computer documentation to find out how to access these test. Also try going to the manufacture of your machine to find documentation about it. Also consider going to the manufacture of your hard drive to look to see if they have hard drive diagnostics test. The ideal test or method would include an ISO that could be burned via an image to a cd which would be made bootable.

HP Pavillion dv6-6033cl Entertainment Notebook PC

After waking from sleep, the screen is first box-like, then after a moment or two, bounces back to fill the laptop screen. This started a couple of weeks ago. There has been no new software installed, no new downloads; Windows updates automatically as well as McAfee. McAfee reported a Trojan just prior to this happening but removed it.

This does not happen when I start up the computer.

What I have already tried:

System Restore to the time before this happened
Safe Mode and re-boot (can't test in Safe Mode because computer doesn't sleep in Safe Mode)
Selective Start Up
Malwarebytes scan
Windows Defender Offline scan
Checked that the monitor is detected
Graphics driver uninstalled and re-installed (it is the latest driver)
HP Utility Tools and diagnostic tests
BIOS and chipset driver updated
Disabled the graphics driver but in lower resolution the computer doesn't go to Sleep
Uninstalled McAfee (problem persisted and I re-installed it)

This is not a major problem but I would appreciate any help you can offer.

I have followed other threads with similar concerns but so far nothing has helped. Just to clarify the problem, I have my G60 Notebook set to go to sleep when the lid is closed. It goes to sleep after a couple seconds. When I open the lid it wakes up as evident by the fan and the hard drive light. The screen stays black. If I close the lit and imediatly open it, the notebook goes to sleep after a couple seconds but the lid is now open. If I press any key or swipe the mouse it wakes up and the screen wakes up as well. This has been happening ever since I updated to Win 10. The notebook starts properly and wakes from hybernation properly as well. I have tried power setting trouble shooter, disable hybrid boot, reset BIOS to default, update graphics and all other drivers, but the problem persists as described. I have not tried a reinstall of Win 10. The BIOS is ver F.62 12/25/2009. I can not find an update to the BIOS. I have a pentium processor but I do not have the Intel MEI installed on my notebook (don't know if I ever did). I tried installing Version 9.5.24.1790 1.5M but I get an error message "system does not meet minimum requirements." Are you aware of any other fixes to the wake up problem or suggestions for installing the Intel MEI?

A:Black screen after waking from sleep

Hi @PapaDelta52?, Thank you for your inquiry.  I grasp that you have your notebook set to enter sleep mode when you close the lid.  When you open the lid you can hear the fan and  hard drive spin up, but the display remains black or blank.  If you press a key or move the mouse the screen responds. You have tried the  power setting troubleshooter, disabling  hybrid boot, resetting the  BIOS to default, updating  graphics and all other drivers, but the problem persists. When I checked the software and driver page for your notebook Windows 10 is  not a supported operating system.  HP has not tested Windows 10 on your model of notebook and the outcome is unknown.   This does not mean it will not work only that the outcome is unknown.  HP does not guarantee that Windows updates will have drivers. Here is a link to  HP PCs - Sleep and Hibernate Issues (Windows 10, 8) that may help. Please let me know the outcome.Thank you  for participating in the HP Forums! Without looking for your error in specific you may have failing ram.
Its fairly common on many of the dell notebooks

hit the power button
start tapping f12 light and fast
a menu will appear
Choose diagnostics..i dont remember the exact wording off the top of my head
Run the diagnostics...it will check for failing ram

Also with vista in the event of errors always check the ram as it can simulate many problems...
Example the ram was failing on my dell1525
My virus protection would shut down
I would get a firewall warning
i would get pop ups that services was shutting down.
I reformatted...3 days later the same thing
so i reformatted again..3 days later the same thing.
then i started to get blue screens after the errors.
I ran diagnostics....and ram was bad

We have had a few complaints that on occation, after a computer wakes up from sleep mode, the user sees the welcome screen, but no text or logon box - i.e. they can't se any text or textboxes, only the background image of the welcome screen. The only way to end this state is to poweroff/reset the machine. Any ideas?

A:blank welcome screen after waking up from sleep

Just a few scattered ideas...

* Has there ever been a BSOD?

* Have you checked in Event Viewer?
Type eventvwr in search.
Go to the Windows Logs > Application / System > in the left hand column.
Note anything in red that relates to the problem experienced.
Please record the event ID, and the Source Code and tell us what they are.

* Consider using Hibernation instead of Sleep

* SFC.
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Hello Everyone

Recently my HDD was replaced in my pc due to it was faulty (couldn't boot).
I got a new one and redownloaded my games, but now i have a decrease in FPS in most games and the newer ones (Rome 2, AC4 etc.) have large FPS drops and crashes to a black screen with flickering sound after a few minutes. This forces me to restart my pc manually. I initailly thought it was due to overheating, and i cleaned my computer, which cured some of the FPS drops, but the games still crash after a few minutes.
Does anybody know why this happens?
I have attached a zip folder containing the results from: DxDiag and MSINFO32.

Any help would be appritiatied, thanks!

I recently built an HTPC and it was working OK until last night. I?ve been using it mainly as an OTA DVR and it does wake up, record, etc.

I went to program a recording & it was already awake & the HDD indicator LED was on. However the HDTV had a black screen with a message to select boot device & press any key. This was not a BSOD but a black screen. There was no way to select anything as every time I pressed a key the same message displayed another time. I finally powered off.

Another program was scheduled to record at this time but it should not have. It was a series schedule set for new but this episode was not. That?s one strike against the EPG. Anyway it started recording after I booted back up but it was missing the first 40 minutes because I booted up 40 minutes into the program.

I don?t think the program was the problem but maybe there was a glitch at the start of the recording which caused the problem, I don?t know. Unfortunately I have no idea how long the HTPC had been sitting in the ?select boot? state. It could have been that way for hours.

I looked at the PC?s event logs to see if anything was obvious. But there were so many logs I had no idea what I was looking at.

Any ideas what would cause a PC to display the message or where to look? Could this be a motherboard or RAM problem?

A:Black Screen waking from sleep mode

"select boot device" is normally a message form BIOS id it can't find a proprt boot device. I think win7 crashed and did an automatic reboot. On reboot it couldn't find or access the harddisk. Do you have "automatic restart on crash" enabled? If so, disable it so you can see the BSOD

Hi,

So about a week or so ago I had problems with my magic jack. They had me download some free VPN (I can't remember the name), but I deleted it because it kept changing my homepage so I thought there may be a virus. I ran a scan on Malwarebytes and it cleared some stuff. So flash forward to a few days ago. After my computer would sit for a while it would go to sleep. When I would go to wake it up I could hear the fan and the light on light would flash but the screen would stay black. So I turned off the hibernation. Last night I fell asleep and when I woke up the blue screen error was on it. I forced it off. I turned in on today and I was using it fine. I leave the room and the blue screen in back. I force it off again and here I am : ). Please help!!! Thanks!!!
