I have a T450s and since I updated to Windows 10 I don't get anything out of the mini-display port. I have tried installing all new drivers and updating the BIOS per Lenovo's support website but I still can't get an external display to work over the mini-display port. Please provide a solution to this problem!

Without more details about your motherboard, it sounds like your memory is not seated properly, or you damaged it when you took it out.

Basically, I have this eye-finity graphics card, and it has 5 mini display ports, I need to buy a Mini-display port to VGA, but I'm not sure which will work.

On Amazon they have Mini-display port converters for Mac, they all seem to be Mac related, would a mac one work on my Windows PC? since it is just a converter? If not, then where could i buy one for PC for cheap?

I appreciate you taking your time reading this.

Hi,I have a ZBook 17 G2 and  its plugged into a docking station. Its been fantastic, however, seems wth the last update it installed on 9/25 (Intell Wireless LAN) my mini-display port no longer functions when plugged into the station. I've a dual monitors plugged into the dvi output on the dock, and I had a mini-display port plugged into a large external LCD (to show clients projects up on a big screen). I had been working totally fine- being able to see an extended desktop on both the two regular monitors )plugged into dvi output on the dock) and the larger one plugged into the mini-display. If i remove the laptop from the dock, the mini-display port functions again, so I know its nothing wrong with either the external display, the cables or the the mini-display->HDMI adapter. Any idea how i can roll back that update? I think its the culprit, as it was functioning totally fine until it was installed. Thanks for your help,-Dan

Hello. I got my Lenovo Thinkpad p50 with W10 about 3 weeks ago and have been using it with lots of success but just today I tried to connect a Dell U2414H conventional external display via mini Display Port and the laptop sounds once I plug the cable but then the external monitor goes to "Energy Saving Mode" and shows only black screen. Looking inside the configuration at desk.cpl, both, integrated and external displays are shown but for the external display the fields of "Resolution", "Orientation" and "Advanced config" are grayed so I can't change anything. Can anyone please help me with this? Thanks in advance.

Ok, it all started when i was dloading a program to make windows setups.(.msi). Then i decided i didnt like it and uninstalled it. After tht was done. I decided i was going to stick with Inno Setup. I have used it before and liked it. But then i noticed all or most of my desktop icons were missing. And all the start menu ientries were missing. So i figured i had a virus. SO i went to do a system resotre. But found that i oculdnt find it...due to to missing folders. So i decided i would then try to boot into safe mode. When i tried to boot it said it cannot find a file(same with normal mode). Ubfortunely i dont remember what it said. I think it said windows cannot find NRDL press ctrl alt delete to reboot. or somthing like that. Any ways i tried a few more times and it all failied. SO then i tried the windows recovery console. Nothing. I really didnt know whre to go with it. Then i decied to go into the bios and reset. Or i thought i was resseting them. I seleteced. "fails proof settings". But then i rebooted and things got worse. My monitor is now getting no signal, it says it is ocnnected though..... So i cant see what i am doing. Please any ideas. I have a Programming project that i have been working on for months now. i dont wanna lose that. And a Lang arts project. We are using the display port for a second monitor.  It works for a while but eventually locks the computer up.  we have to disconnect the display port cable, log back in and then reconnect the display port cable, and it works fine again.  We've switch the display port cable to the main monitor, however the problem follows the displayport cable.  The frequency is once every week, and we about 20 computer utilizing the dual monitor setup.  The second monitor is always using the VGA port.

I am on a laptop with a gtx 765m. I am trying to connect a thunderbolt port to a display port monitor. My understanding is that thunderbolt is backwards compatible with display port. But, for the life of me I can not get it to work.

I have ended up hooking the monitor up with an hdmi cord for now. FYI the monitor is a 2560x1440 monitor if that matters.

I've been having some USB issues on my computer today but ever since I built it and purchased a USB 3.0 stick, it only works in USB 2.0 ports? I got the stick from ebuyer years ago now - also it used to copy large files at 15MB/s in USB 2.0 as did a USB 2.0 stick I have

today I had a BSOD and WhosCrashed read the memory dump (which is now gone) and it said it was kernelbase.sys and I can only find info on kernelbase.dll, all my USB ports would only work foor the key/mouse combo and my phone, 3 USB stick and a HDD i have would not work and showed up in dev manager with code 39.

so, ive restored the computer back 3 days and uninstalled loads of stuff including BitDefender as I only installed this the other day and Unity & few other things Ive installed in last few days - now it seems to be able to work again but like I say the USB 3 stick doesnt work in the Blue USB 3 ports, its a gigabyte H77-D3H rev 1.0 and doesnt say which USB3 driver to install but the Intel one doesnt work and the Etron one does, but still no joy on the USB 3.0 stick

ive done SFC /SCANNOW and nothing was found

has anyone got any advice

edit: I have since rebooted the machine and it said your device did not install (USB) even though they work still as mentioned code 28 on this one

Greetings! I'm experiencing a problem on what appears to be HP Prodesk 600 G2 computers exclusively.  Intermittently, when the computer wakes from sleep or standby, the computer loses its monitor drivers. When the computer wakes the monitor is now in 640x480 resolution and if you look in the Screen Resolution window it shows the current driver is the "Generic Non-PnP Monitor".  These computers are hooked up with dual HP displays of like model and when it happens the fix seems to be to simply restart the computer. While this is easy enough it is extremely disruptive to the work of our users and so I've been tasked with finding a real fix to this problem. To that end I have updated the computer with the latest BIOS from HP as well as the latest Intel graphics drivers from HP's website (Intel Graphics 530 chipset) but to no avail. We have also tried using different monitors and it continues to occur intermittently. Also, we have many HP Prodesk G1's in the building and none of these have this problem. This leads me to suspect that this is a problem exclusive to the Prodesk G2's and not with Windows or the monitors we are using. It should also be noted that both monitors are connected using the on-board display ports. My hunch is that it is the Intel Graphics 530 (onboard) graphics chipset that that's the problem but I don't think we should have to buy a seperate graphics card to get two displays to work on these computers especially when it's so clear th... We have a large monitor (Dell 3007wfpt) connected to a Dell Precision M4800 laptop. The large monitor only works with DVI-Dual Link so we have a Display Port to DVI-D adapter (Accell UltraAV DP to DVI-D). The user of this machine was working in Outlook on this external monitor right after a fresh boot and noticed the mouse cursor was moving very slowly. Eventually the external monitor froze completely and the laptop monitor showed a BSOD whilethe external monitor showed the same frozen static windows/outlook image. I checked the crash files and noticed two dumps (although he only noticed one crash). Both dump files seem to point to a USB device. This Accell adapter uses displayport and usb (for power). Could someone check and confirm if this is the case through the dump files?

The only other USB devices is a Logitech wireless receiver and a USB hub/card reader that is built onto the Dell monitor. This usb hub on the monitor does not have anything plugged into it.

Thoughts? Could it be the monitor usb hub/card reader? Or the displayport adapter? If it's the adapter, then would an external powered usb hub be a fix for that? Thanks!

A:BSOD usb related, monitor hub or display port adapter?

Hi Rogue75.

First of all, Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs. Otherwise, stop 9x9F cannot be successfully prevented.
Click on the Start button
Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the “Startup” tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus and the touchpad "Apoint".
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Next come to the BSOD. Do you use the webcam?
(c:\program files (x86)\dell webcam\dell webcam central\webcamdell2.exe)

Better you disable the webcam in device manager. See how it goes. Observe if there is any more BSOD after freeing up the startup items and disabling the webcam.

But, the webcam might be necessary for you. Search for any possible updates in Support | Dell US for your Dell Precision M4800. If any update to the webcam is there, apply it.

Report us for any further BSOD.

I'm wondering if someone possibly help as I'm not sure where to go next.

I have a Dell U2311H monitor connected to a XFX Radeon 6850 via its DisplayPort and I'm having problems with random flickering where the monitor picture goes black for a few seconds.

I have another monitor, an old HP, connected via DVI and a 1080p Sony LCD TV connected via HDMI.

I have had the Dell and HP monitors connected via DVI for months without any problems but I wanted to extend my Win 7 desktop to all 3 displays and I believe you can't do that using DVI, DVI and HDMI, hence why I want to use the display port.

I have tried 2 different displayport cables, so I don't think it is that. I don't have another gfx card or monitor to try to eliminate from the process.

One thing I did notice is that if I change the resolution from 1080p to 720p it seems to fix the problem. I'm wondering if it could be something to do with the displays running at different resolutions? Although I did try both the TV and Dell running at 1080p but there was still a problem.

Any suggestions greatly received,

A:Display port flicker on Dell U2311H monitor

I happen to see this thread when searching for solution for the same problem. I am using 3 monitor display setup, using U2311H connected with displayport to HD 5770 graphic card and 2 samsung 940b monitor connected with DVI to the same HD 5770 graphic card.

U2311H flickers (screen become totally black) for 1 to 2 sec at random times and return to normal.

I did not try any other display port cable yet because I did not have time to buy another one.

Seems like adbarnes have the same problem, I am wondering if it is because we are using 3 display setup? or display port? Or maybe there is something wrong with U2311h?

I have been using U2311H for some time, this flicker problem happens recently.

adbarnes, have you discovered how to solve the flicker problem?

My dell U2311H is using 1920x1080 (recommended) resolution
My samsung 940B is using 1280x1024 (recommended) resolution
(all using the recommended resolutions)
using win 7

I just built a new HTPC, put Windows 8.1 on it, had RDP working fine for days. Even out of my house with port forwarding. Once I got everything where I wanted it, the last step was to change the port for security. I changed the registry Port Number (at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SYSTEM, CurrentControlSet, Control, Terminal Server, WinStations and RDP-Tcp), to a 5 digit number starting with 13 so its within the limits (also, I used to use the same port previously with Windows 7). Restarted and I could not connect. It did not work. So I tried putting it back to 3389 and its broken now too. I have a laptop on 8.1 also and changed it at the same time, now I have the same issues. I have tried everything I can think of. Check and even turned off the Firewall, used netstat -a and it seems to be listening on the correct port.
It seems to me there is something else at play here. Can anyone help me? This is at a bad time since I have leaving town for a few days and need access, I have to use VNC.
Help please.

FYI, I posted this exact same question here and have gone through some diagnostic steps to no avail:

I am helping someone who messed up their computer. The screen went black and nothing would display. I hooked up an external monitor and installed a fresh version of Windows 7 on it, but this did not solve the issue. Now there is a fresh version of Windows 7, but the monitor will only show up on an external monitor. It only shows up when I start the computer in safe mode, or do a hard reset and displays (RTC mode fixed - Time and date may be wrong
Invalid configuration information - please run SETUP program
Time-of-day not set - please run SETUP program
Strike F1 key to continue, F2 to run setup utility Press F5 to run onboard diagnostics.) That is only on the external monitor. I checked the connection to the screen and it was secure and the screen is lit up until I press the key to display to an external monitor. The computer is a Dell Latitude D830, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

A:PC Monitor wont display, led flashing

The orange light is flashing because the monitor is not receiving a video signal from your graphics port. So you either have a bad graphics port, or bad graphics driver, bad video graphics card, or your have something inserted incorrectly.
Remove and reseat all cables. Remove and reseat video graphics card. Remove and reseat your memory modules.
But it is possible you may have blown your system board, or have other serious problems related to what you have described.
Most Dell power supplies do not work properly in other systems. They are often proprietary, and have special power out puts. You might first try a new or known good power supply which has all the appropriate power connectors.
Good luck to you. Please let us know how it all turns out.

Hi I got this problem when changing monitors on my Pc a while ago.
I have now got my PC and have tried it on 3 different monitors and get the same outcome.
The initial BIOS and DOS boot displays come up, along with the Windows XP Loading screen, but as soon as windows kicks in and the display settings change, my monitor or any other I have tried just stays black.
Windows itself boots, as I can hear the login sound through the speakers!
I have tried going into safe mode to play about with the setting of my display card but it wont even let me into safe mode!

Is this something to do with the refresh rate setting?

Thanks for the advice mate. I will give it another go. What is the best refresh rate to set it at, so that it will work with most monitors?

I run my laptop on an external 19 inch monitor, the laptop has just been upgraded to windows 7.
I want to set the resoltution to 1024*768 however when i do i get no signal to the monitor. But it allows me to set a higher resolution such as 1280*1024 and lower such as 800*600, Just not 1024*768.

This is annoying when i want to play games as its no powerfull enough to play in 1280*1024 so i have to put in 800*600 which looks made.

Any help appreciated.

I suggest checking for updated drivers for your graphics card, I would first do that before anything else.

Hey everyone,
So today my friend dropped his laptop and said that the computer wont work. So I took it in my hands. The laptop is a Acer 5532-5194. The problem is that when ever i boot the laptop, all the leds turn on ( the power led, the optical drive led) and even the optical drive can eject, but no display! Its just a black screen and nothing appears. I tried to boot it without the battery and just AC adaptor but that didn't make a difference. I swapped hard drives with my own laptop, that didn't work. Not sure what else to try and what the heck the problem is. I even plugged it into a external monitor seeing if that would do any good...NOPE, I was wrong. So could someone else tell me what I could do to fix it and what the problem may be?

The laptop has a nvidia geforce fx 5200 video card in it and i have tried downloading the display drivers fot the geforce cards from halfway through instalation i get this message.
"the nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware setup will now exit"
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A:Display drivers wont work

Graphics Drivers

Are you downloading the drivers using the same laptop? If you are then it might be worth trying to download them onto another machine first, burn them onto a cd rom and then try re-installing. Also, go to the manufacturer of the laptop website. Laptops are strange beasts sometimes and although it may say it is an Nforce graphics card, it may be a "hybrid", which could require special drivers for it. Hope this helps!

After connecting my new hdmi cable the resolution has been off. It's currently at 1920 x 1080 but is slightly too large for my monitor. Its cutting all the icons pinned to the task bar in half. When I try to customize the resolution in the NVIDIA Control Panel it says the custom resolution is not supported by my display even when I don't actually change any of the numbers.

Does anyone know how I can change my resolution to fit my monitor exactly? Thank you.

Im having a really tough to TS problem with the reliability monitor. For the last week, it no longer displays any data and the graph dosent render.

It just display as blank with no data. Some things to note...

1. The RAC published and State data are being updated and published each day as they shouold. So the data does exist.
2. I have tried the "Resetting RAC" methods that worked for Vista. But the fix dosent work for W7.
3. I cant think of anything that may have changed. I havent deleted any folders or log files.
4. I've used Process Monitor to trace the events when the reliability monitor executes and everything looks fine.
5. There are no errors or warnings in the event viewer.
6. I havent installed any Windows Updates.

So Im hoping that someone can think of something I am missing here. Oddly it used to work for some time and i ran it each day. Then all of a sudden one day it just stopped.

Could this be a permission issue possibly? I do recall changing permissions for C:\Users\Me\AppData. Are there any folders or logs within that path that might affect RAC? Are there any services that are required for RAC to collect and render data?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You're not a "registry cleaner" (ab)user, are you?

Does the same symptom occur in safe mode?

Is the wmimgmt service running? Stoppable? Restartable?

As a wild stab in the dark, one of the standard causes is the loss of COM registrations from components used in rendering that info. If you haven't already tried all that, do a web search on regsvr32 and "reliability monitor" for a list of DLLs worth re-registering.

I searched the forums and the only posts involved the AMD card and I have an Nvidia card.  I couldn't find any information on the K4000M so I called tech support and they told me it was 2560x1600.  But then I found another forum where they said even the K1000M can do 4k.
I hooked up my 4k TV to the HDMI and used the Nvidia custom resolution to set up 3840x2160 at 30 hz and the display works.  The graphics look great, but the text is super fuzzy.  The TV supports 4K at 60Hz, but I'm not sure if the HDMI port on the back of my M6700 supports 60Hz.
Does the HDMI support 60Hz at 4k?  What about the display port?  Any idea why my text is super fuzzy while the graphics are razor sharp?

A:Precision M6700 Nvidia Quadro K4000M max resolution 4K monitor display port hdmi refresh rate

First, I'm going to refer you to this article from Nvidia discussing Ultra 4k Resolution.  The important statement is this:

The current HDMI 1.4 standard only has bandwidth for 4K at 30hz. HDMI 2.0 will add support for 4K at 60Hz. Details should become clearer in late 2013. There are a few TVs on sale today that support 4K @ 30Hz through HDMI.

Now, according to this review and article about the K4000m card specifications, it states that the card has HDMI 1.4 connections, which means it won't, theoretically, handle Ultra 4k resolution at the 60Hz bandwidth.
I also found this on documentation online about the Precision 6700.

The Precision™ M4700 & M6700 incorporates HDMI version 1.4. Features

So, unfortunately, it doesn't sound like that card will support the higher refresh rate needed.
As for Display port

DisplayPort cables are much simpler to define: There’s just one type! The current version, DisplayPort 1.2, delivers enough bandwidth to carry video resolutions of up to 3840 by 2160 pixels at a refresh rate of 60Hz

So Display Port would be a much better option for you, if available.
I hope this answers your questions.

I have 3 monitors connected to an AMD HD5770 graphics card. Two monitors connect via HDMI, and the third through a Sapphire Active DisplayPort->DVI adaptor. Things have been working fine for years, but recently I started sleeping my computer when I am not using it during the day, as opposed to my previous habit of leaving it on all day and then shutting down at night, and a couple of days after starting this new habit, I received a 'Display Port Link Failure' message:

"The system has detected a link failure and cannot set the requested resolution and refresh rate on your DisplayPort display. Your display might not support the requested resolution or there may be an issue with the cable connecting the display to your computer"

Now, even upon resuming my normal habit of leaving the computer on and shutting down, the monitor will work sometimes but randomly stop other times.

How can I either fix the issues with sleep, which I would prefer since I want to save energy (a money issue rather than believing my actions make any difference to the environment), or if there is a problem somewhere, determine if it is the graphics card or the adaptor that needs replacing.?

A:Display Port Link Failure, Active Display Port->DVI

It could be the hardware is starting to give out. Not all problems are software related. Going to be hard to nail down if you don't have another cable. Could be the cable or the port.

Any way to test with a straight cable, not the adapter cable?

I'm using a Dell U3415W monitor. My video card is AMD Radeon RX480. The monitor is connected via DisplayPort to my computer. The monitor is connected via HDMI to my work laptop. When I want to switch over to HDMI, it acts as if I shut off the monitor on the Displayport shifting everything over to my secondary monitor. It causes no problem, but drives me nuts because when I switch back over to DIsplayPort, I have to move my open programs around again. Is there any simple way to make this stop? If I don't use DisplayPort, and instead use HDMI/DVI combination, the behavior described does not happen. I'm guessing that is just the way it is, but I'm hoping there is an easy way to make it stop.

Okey my problem is that when i try to start my computer the monitor wont start, it stays black and nothing happens.
I have tried with another monitor but the same problem there, and when i tried my monitor on my laptop it worked in the beginning so it should be something with the hardware.
Everything is brand new except for the RAM.
I hade exactly the same problem with my other older computer but i had several problems with that computer, but i say again, The CPU, GPU, PSU and the motherboard are all brand new.
I really hope someone can help me now cause it's really important that i have a working computer.

I am using Vista for business (32-bit) on a new Dell Latitude E4300 laptop. I want to use a new external monitor (Dell S2209W) with it.

The external monitor is connected and works, but I cannot get it to display at its proper top resolution of 1920 x 1080.

When I check the displays in the laptop's device manager, both the laptop and the external monitor are given as Generic pnp. Attempts to update the drivers meet with the response that they are up-to-date.When I try to change the display from the desktop, the resolution options do not go high enough for the external monitor.

The laptop display works fine; what I need is for the external monitor to work at the high resolution.
Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks

Hello everyone,

I have finally bought and put together my new beastly computer, but something is wrong.

I have connected everything as best I can and my uncle, who built his own computer, cannot find anything wrong with the way the components are connected. But when I plug my moniter into the 8800GT, nothing happens. I have tried three different moniters, (2 CRT and 1 LCD) and the best I can get is a "No Signal" image on the LCD. The other two remain black.

I have also tried removing and replacing the card, like it says to do in theTrouble-Shooting section of the card's manual, but to no avail.

The fans all start spinning around, the LED's light up... but that's about it. nothing else happens.
(The moniters all work on the other computer, just fine by the way).

It looks very pretty and all, but it isn't exactly living up to my expectations.

Is it normal for a PC to do this untill the OS is installed? I would appreciate any information anyone might have as well as any advice.

Also if anyone can post a link to a good "How To Build A Computer" guide for noobs, I would be very grateful.

A:Built a new computer, but the monitor wont display an image

Check your MB specs

You may want to look at your motherboard specs.
Some MB if it's SLI requires you to flip a jumper if you are running with 1 GPU if not already set by default. Also if you are running a single GPU it may also require you put the GPU in a specific PCI-E slot.

Good luck.

A:Asus 22" Monitor wont display 1680x1050

It's not the monitor its a graphics driver issue. You need to go your motherboard manufacturers website and download the correct video or chip-set driver. Even then it might not support that resolution.

Ok this one has me stumped. I have been using dual monitors for a couple years now on my work PC (MSI 5450, HP 6005 Pro MT) and when I left work on Friday 8/28 it was working perfectly.

Today I booted up my pc and the second montior (17" dell, my main is a 22" HP) is not displaying correctly. The windows are much larger and the taskbar is nearly off the screen. When I fullscreen a window I can see around 75% of the window.

I have tried changing the resolution to no avail. No matter what resolution I choose (1440x900 is what I have always used it on) the windows appear larger than the screen and I can only see 10% of the taskbar. It is as though my card believes it is a much larger screen than what it actually is.

I did upgrade the pc from 2gb to 4gb of ram before I left on Friday. I obviously had to disconnect all of the connections, but I did have it up and running before I left work and the screens worked fine.

Any ideas?

A:Incorrect display on 2nd monitor (used to work perfectly)

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

I just received a new monitor (15" CRT) over the holidays. It was successfully recognized as a "generic plug n' play" and installed immediately. The previous monitor used was set @800x600 and appeared to fill the screen correctly.

However, the monitor, while installing without any difficulties, was only able to be sized to 640x480 and appears too large for the screen. when i manually set the "DISPLAY" settings to the old original 800x600, i get what appears to be the proper prospective on the screen, but i loose the toolbar at the bottom along with all the data underneath it (the tray, start tab, quick launch, address window, etc) and the overall picture, while similar to the original obtained with the older monitor, still "feels" peculiar-

The pix quality is super, and as i said, there's nothing wrong overall other than the size seems too large which presumably would have been corrected by a shift to 800x600- but at the expense of no toolbar and the info that goes along with it immediately underneath the toolbar (clock, tray, start tab, etc)

any help would be genuinely appreciated-

many thanks

I have an NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ and two days ago my monitor stopped showing my normal resolution, if i go into the NVIDIA control panel, i select an option in resolution to "Show Resolutions not exposed by the display" and force it into 1680x1050 but when i play certain games which take the resolution of my monitor's settings, those games are messed up because it still only sees the.
"800x600, 1024x768, 1152x864, 1280x720, 1280x768, 1280x800, 1280x960, 1280x1024, 1360x768, 1600x900, 1600x1024, 1600x1200"

Which unless i force my my monitor in my NVIDIA panel to show more, it only shows this when i click for resolution.

I am running Vista 64.

Another problem is i accidently set my 1st Monitor input to "out of range" and i do not own a P2 keyboard so i cannot go into safe mode to change the resolution back to something that shows something.

I unplugged everything at the back, whilst it was off so i didnt electricute myself obviously and then moved the tower into another section of my desk. When i plugged everything back into the back of the PC, including the monitor. I went to turn it on. I did, the power light came on, the fan started spinning and the cd drive lights started flashing. Sounds good. But as i looked to my monitor it just said "no signal 6-5-4-3-2-1"
It was working fine before. Ive checked that the cable is in correctly, Ive ensured its not bent or trapped anywhere and still the same problem. Ive even tried to move the monitor back to where it was originally! But that still didnt work?

check the cables internally and that you have not knocked anything by mistake as you added the harddrive

Also when you put the VGA cable back onto the PC - check to see if any pins are bent - very easy to bend a pin on those connectors and still connect and screw up

The monitor is a Decaview V382 (17") with on-screen controls via wheel-button. Turn the wheel > controls box. Keep turning and cycle through the control icons for width, height, brightness, etc. Press the button, activate an icon. PROBLEM: turning the wheel now cycles through only two of the icons ("trapezoid" and "pincushion"). There seems to be no way to reach the other icons.

To get down to the bones of the problem, I just built a new computer almost from the ground up, I salvaged only my hard drive and my processor from my old computer (A 7200 WD 200gig and a P4 3.0gHz HT, respectively) as the ram slots on my old motherboard decided to die. That, and it was kinda eh.

I upgraded to a NEW motherboard, a BioStar TSeries 945P v2.0 LGA775 with the 1066/800mHz FSB, got a new case with a 500watt power supply, new PNY DDR2 RAM, and hooked everything up properly. Alas, I plug the monitor into my video card(the board has no onboard video. The card is an ATI Radeon x600 from the old machine) and I get that little pop/crackle(it's a CRT) that tells me it feels somthing, but all it gives is the monitor test and a blinking green light when I turn the machine on. It's like it's not even plugged into anything.

I certainly hope this isn't an issue with the motherboard. I'm using the risers so I know it's not grounding to the plate, and it's literally brand new. I AM very green on building computers, though. So perhaps I messed something up. I can go into more detail if anyone would like.

Thanks in advance.

A:Built a new computer, monitor wont work.

Did you install a floppy drive? That would enable you to do a basic test with the hard drive disconnected and a boot to a floppy disc.
The pop/crackle could just be the monitor receiving power.
What do you mean by "monitor test"?

Hello, I've had this problem with my laptop display for about half a year. When the laptop starts, the backlight turns on, but there is no display of Windows. When connected to an external monitor or projector, this displays the image with no problem. Thus, my question is: if my GPU and backlight are working, what component is causing the problem and how can I fix it? It is worth mentoning that sometimes on start up the display came back to life, and then if no shutdown or battery depletion occured, it would function normally. However, if the battery ran out, the problem came back (since I very often just put the laptop on sleep, this system functioned for a while...) Then, a couple of weeks ago this happened again, and the display hasn't worked since. I am now working with an external monitor.  Looking forward to your answers. Many thanks, Stefania

I have a 20? gateway 900G monitor. It was working fine for the 3 years I have had it. Then randomly today I restarted my computer and it wouldn?t work. I boot in safe mode and it works fine. Just when I get past the windows loading screen it then tells me that I have no signal. This happens in both XP and Vista. Linux runs fine still. The computer tells me it cannot find a monitor plugged in at all. The video card I have is a two DVI port X1650 pro. I used a DVI to VGA converter and connected a second VGA monitor to the second port and Windows boots just fine in that monitor but the other one once again went blank past the boot screen. I have no idea why my monitor won?t work. My computer is a 3.4 GHZ Pentium 4 with 3 gigs of ram.

I've had an external monitor hooked up to my laptop for ages, showing duplicate screen
--same screen as laptop. Now suddently it went blank, The monitor works fine.

How do I get it to show the laptop screen again. I went to control pannel and display and properties and it seems to be monitor 2. If I click the extend desktop box, I get my screensaver on the external but nothing else-- it doesn't change when my laptop display does.

I could really use the monitor back. Any help would be welcome.

Thanks in advance

The screen on my new laptop has gone blank on starting up, it shows nothing, i tried a hard reset which didn't fix. The external monitor won't display anything.
It's a HP envy 15-j112tx running windows 8. With a hdmi connection i tried to connect to an external monitor. The monitor was previously using vga to a desktop, i unplugged that and connected my dvi cable to the dvi port. The monitor says check video connection then goes to sleep. I connected the cables with the laptop turned off and again with the laptop already on. The monitor still says check video connection. The connection is secure, it is a new cord. I pressed the F4 button to switch between screens and waited inbetween presses but still nothing.

It is still under warranty. I disabled the nvidia graphics card a few days ago to try n save on power usage, as it also has an intel graphics card. It has worked fine for a few days since i did that.
Now that i've powered it on/off about 5 times the hard drive stops whirring after about a minute, yet the power button light remains on. It no longer turns off when i hold power for even a minute. I dont want to kill the thing.

Can anyone help me, i can't find an answer in previous threads.

A:External monitor wont work to fix blank screen HP envy

I have the same issue on my Envy-1130LA, white screen after power up and the external monitor doesn't work.

I bought a new flex cable to test if it works.

Are you already repaired your laptop? Please share your experience.

Has anyone had any issues with the Precision 7510 only outputting through one DisplayPort output on the E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicator? Our organization recently started to introduce Precision 7510 units to our employees, and we're finding that they will only output to one single monitor connected via DisplayPort through the E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicators - even though there are two monitors connected into the two DisplayPort outputs on the E-Port Plus APR. If the monitors are connected via DVI, the Precision 7510 is able to output to both of them through the E-Port Plus APR. We have tried Precision M4800, Latitude E7450, and Latitude E7470 units in these E-Port Plus APR's with two monitors connected into the two DisplayPort outputs - and they all work correctly. The Precision 7510 units have the NVIDIA Quadro M1000M video cards, and the E-Port Plus APR's are connected to either a pair of P2417 monitors or a pair of U2414 monitors.

I have been having issues with hanging at the boot screen lately and decided to have a look see in my device manager. There is a yellow exclamation point next to wan mini port. When I open it it says Wan mini port (atw),network adapter, manufacturer, American online, then it goes on to says NDIS.VxD,NTKERN. VxD device loader could not be loaded for this device, code 2.

I don't use American online, we do have AIM instant messenger. I did tryy to update the driver, but it couldn't find it.

There are no check marks in the boxes under Device usage.
Any ideas! Thanks!

I have dual primary display monitor is a Chimei CMV223D
My secondary display monitor is an Acer AL1916W.

My graphics card is an HD ATI Radeon 5800.

My primary display monitor which usually has a display resolution of 1680x1050 is currently stuck on 640x480 and in the property settings it won't let me change the resolution. The cable running from the Graphics card is an HDMI cable with a HDMI/DVI converter. I have also tried using the DVI port of the video card to the DVI port of the PC which comes up with same problem. Using a DVI/VGA converter and a VGA cable the VGA port on the monitor works fine!!! SOOOO long story short there is definitely something going on with the monitors DVI port.........

This randomly occurred overnight and is driving me insane to know what I need to fix. I have used different cables and to no such luck. My secondary monitor is just humming away just fine! But I really need my primary display.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled video drivers for the graphics card which is the Catalyst control centre suite and all monitor drivers appear to be up to date.

WHY oh why is my monitor locked at this resolution!!??? How to fix please help!!!

A:DVI port on monitor is stuck res of 640x480 VGA port works fine

Never mind!!!!

Clearing the BIOS will load the factory defaults. There is a jumper for this on the motherboard.

None of my games will work. I took some advice of a forum because I couldnt get Perfect World to work and changed something in the registry to do with the port. Now no game will work and i would change it back but i dont know what it was previously.
My system restores wont work, wont even undo, and theres only one days worth there now. I dont know how to do a utilities reg scan which I think may be what I need to do, I dont know if its in my pc or on my XP disk. I cant use the disk because I dont know how to find my product code and the person I bought it off has gone to Cyprus .

I've done a Drwebcureit but really I need instructions for a 2 year old and I think this has happened since my last one. I had a Win32 Trojan in the other day and Vundo got rid of it I think, maybe its got something to do with that, maybe its still lurking around. Ive done a Combofix amd this was at the top - WARNING -THIS MACHINE DOES NOT HAVE THE RECOVERY CONSOLE INSTALLED. If anyone can help me, you would save my life, its driving me mad now.

A:Is it possible to install sata SSD mini-PCI wwan port and it...

Hi, M.2 mini WWAN slot may work but not very often and it can be very small capacity. I don't think BIOS on your machine supports it because it is designed for a WWAN card. Regards.

Hi there :)

i found an empty port in my T130, next to the hdd-port, see also here -> [klick|]

Is this a working mSATA-Port for mini-SSDs like "ADATA SX300 mSATA SSD 128 GB",
so that i can use both, SSD _AND_ HDD*??

(* for Example: Boot- and Windows-Partition: SSD, Data-Partition: HDD)

A:Satellite T130-10G: additional port for mini SSD?

I?m quite sure this isn?t mSATA port and this series doesn?t support the mSATA SSD definitely.

Fact is that models belonging to the same series support different hardware specs.
For example: some models were quipped with an: miniPCI 3G module and miniPCI Bluetooth module, and some models supported only the miniPCI WiFi.

i connected my Surface Book to a TV via an mini DP to HDMI cable adapter. I got video but no audio in the TV. I wonder if the display port in the Surface is fully mini DP compliant or, perhaps, is a limitation of the cable I bought.

A:in the surface book, does the mini dp port have audio out?

I get audio through my Gigaware adapter from my SB to my TV. So, I would guess it is your adapter or cable?

I've googled the problem and have seen where numerous other people have same issue. techs are coming back with solutions that are either not working or are very complex to me. Do I need to bring my computer into a tech to have them attempt to fix this or is my compter and this vista software reaching the end of its useful life?
