Q: lenovo SL 510 - Power Adapter disconnects itself i...

Hi All, I am getting a very strange issue with my Lenovo SL 510. When i plug in charging while laptop is on it starts disconnecting power adapter every cople of seconds or some time is 5 second (no consistent behaviour).. i thought it could be my power adapter that is misbehaving. I removed battery and started laptop with ac adapter on. it worked fine no issues at all. if i turn off laptop and put it under charging it get's fully charged and battery also lasts for couple of hours. so no issue in charging while laptop is turned off.. so that rules out possibility of issues with adapter. The issue is only with laptop charging when it's turned on. it keeps disconnecting. it is really very annoying as get to hear beep sound Similar to hospital sound :-)

Hello everyone, I purchased Lenovo Yoga 900 Ideapad and I am currently using it in India. The power adapter seems to have gone bad and I wasn't able to charge the laptop with the given adapter.  Since the laptop is under warranty, I contacted the warranty help line only to know that I need to take the laptop to the service center. At a service center, no one really knew how the USB 3.0 charging port works and couldn't check whether the cable was short or the adapter had gone bad. Anyhow, they decided to replace it under warranty but again, they weren't sure when and if the replacement would arrive (as it depends on the inventory levels with Lenovo India).  An exclusive Lenovo shop then offered me an original Lenovo power adapter with USB 3.0 charging at USD 70 but only when it got delivered, I see that it is 40W and not 65W like the original one I had.  65W adapter - the USB 3.0 connecter (one which connects the laptop) is orange. The wall adapter doesn't heat up while laptop is charging.40W adapter - the USB 3.0 connecter is yellow. The wall adapter heats up quite a lot while the laptop is charging.  The Lenovo store representative has assured me that this is the right adapter but somehow I am not convinced.  Can the community throw some light on this:- Is it safe to use a 40W adapter for a 65W specification?- Is there any way I can get the adapter replaced by Lenovo US (I can ship the faulty adapter to US)?- I... My power adapter to my Y500 Idea pad is messed up. The wiring inside must have gotten damaged somehow and is now faulty. It only charges my laptops when angle in certain positions, or goes in and out. It's the 170W AC adapter one, but is there really a difference in using one of the small Wattage Adapters? The 170W one is just way out of price-range for me so I'm looking for one of the cheaper versions. I found one online that is "Y500 AC Adapter 90Watt 19V 4.74A". Would that work with my laptop?  I don't understand how different wattages affect my laptop (I'm assuming it affects charging time) so any help is appreciated. I generally keep my laptop plugged in with the battery removed, so I don't have to worry too much about charging the battery, if that's any help.Thank you!

I'm using a SAGEM X762N wifi adapter on my laptop running windows 8.1. The wifi randomly disconnects and the only way to fix it is to disconnect the adapter from the usb port and then plug it in again.(Sometimes this doesn't work as well, i have to repeat this step until it works). When it does disconnect, I can't connect back unless I do that.

That's not uncommon. About all you can do is make sure you have the latest driver for the wireless adapter or try another adapter. Oh, and be glad that it doesn't happen all the time, as is sometimes the case.

The main problem I am having is my internet connection disconnects randomly whenever I am online. It occurs more frequently when I am using a lot of bandwidth such as YouTube streaming, downloading files etc. It averages a disconnect about every 10 minutes. So far I have used my PC on 3 different networks and it disconnects at the same intervals on all of them. I have changed OS from Windows 10 to 7. I have changed WiFi adapters twice and it still happens to each one. I have tweaked some settings on Windows but not all of them.

When I look at the adapter when the disconnect occurs the light that normally blinks when connected shuts off as if it lost power. Then it turns back on when it is connected. My gut feeling is the motherboard may be too old to support newer network technology, but I am open to suggestions. Any help is greatly appreciated at this time. Thank you!

I've never had this issue before with my Linksys Wireless-G PCI adapter model WMP54G. Its not much of a big problem but it is annoying! Connection is great at Excellent but sometimes it just disconnects and then automatically re-connects. It doesn't matter if I'm in the middle of loading a webpage or using the connection in any way either. I've checked for radio frequency interference and there is none in its area. The router is an Actiontec. Also whats frustrating is the connection speed even with an Excellent connection. It tops out at 54Mbps but sometimes drops to 12Mbps or 18Mbps even when there isn't heavy connection activity and the connection runs very slow. Google and web searches have not been successful. Any ideas?

Hello,

I just got a new Lenovo E545 laptop in the mail today with Windows 7 Professional.

I get randomly disconnected from my Wifi.  This happens anywhere from 5 minutes apart to 30 minutes apart.  I can't seem to find any common reason.

I have Verizon Fios Quantum and am almost positive it is not an issue with the router.  All of my other devices including another laptop have no connectivity issues.

I have looked around online but can't seem to fix the issue.  I just checked and my drivers are up to date.  Once I troubleshoot the connection it has said several different things, from something related to my ip address to something to do with the wireless card.  It always is connected again within 30 seconds.

Anyone have any ideas?  Thanks for any help.

In October 2009 received Netgear wireless router as part of Sky broadband package. PC is 2004 Packard Bell Desktop, spec P4, 512MB ram, Geforce 2.
Using a Belkin USB G-Mimo Wireless adaptor, 3003, and Belkins wireless utility software, pc does connect to net fine. During a download of say more than 5MB, it will slow from 200kb/s down to 50kb/s then disconnect from net. If I do nothing, but wait, it will re-connect again in about one minute. I have freshly installed the windows xp home onto a formatted C: drive, all updates are done, no other unusual hardware is used. Windows is activated, there are no other problems.
Anyone had this happen to them, or might know what might be wrong ?

In my humble opinion some of the USB sticks are flaky as hell,

can you try another way of connecting it wirelessly, such as a borrowed PCI card.

or can you plug the PC in with a cable and see if it still does it.?

Good morning everyone!

So this is the issue I am having. Currently I am running a Windows XP machine connected to wireless via a USB wireless adapter. I need to bridge the wireless adapter and the wired adapter so that I can connect an IP phone to the desktop at a remote location and have both connect to the network. The wireless adapter works fine until I connect it to the bridge connection. Once I do, the wireless connection drops until the adapter is removed from the bridge. Any thoughts?

A:Solved: Wireless adapter disconnects when joined to a bridge

Please show the following for the non bridged and again for the bridge condition ...

Hold the Windows logo key and press r; in the Run box type cmd and click on OK.

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

[Press ENTER after each command.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

A:Wireless Network adapter disconnects then cant find networks help!

How is your signal strength? If you haven't already, you could try using a 3 foot USB extension so you can move the dongle to a more favorable reception position. If that doesn't help, just get a new one. I use one of these for one of my PCs and they seem to tend to fail after awhile.

I'm using a Rosewill USB adapter now and that one has been the most reliable so far.

Hello,

I have experienced conditions where the internet completely disconnects, and the wireless network is no longer shown on the list to connect to, all wireless networks "disappear" from the list. I have tried many actions to try to fix the problem, reseting the network adapter, enabling and disabling it also, and following the windows troubleshooting guide. This continues to occur a few times per day on average. The only way I can see a wireless network is to restart the entire computer which takes 5 minutes. Everytime I restart the whole computer the wireless networks are shown again on the list to connect to! I don't think there's a problem with the internet service because this happens every time, but it appears that there is.

I would like to know additional actions I can take to be able to re-connect to the wireless network when it is shown to have disconnected and disappeared from the list and not able to connect to without having to restart the entire computer every time. Is there some services I can restart, or other settings I can change to be able to see and reconnect to the wireless networks again?

thanks!
steve

I have a Windows 2000 computer that is having trouble connecting wirelessly to the internet. The user connects wirelessly via a network adapter card and due to his desk location, an Ethernet cord can't be used. Several other users are able to connect (including other wireless users) via the small office router (Netgear) and no one else is having a problem except for this one user.

The user has a DLink WDA 2320 desktop network adapter. The adapter continually connects to the network, but after 5-10 seconds, disconnects. Even during the period of connectivity, I am not able to ping the router or any outside web address.

I looked in Device Manager and the wireless network adapter is showing (no question marks or exclamation points), and it says the device is working properly. I went ahead and installed the latest driver for the network adapter and nothing has changed.

I have tried to change the TCP/IP setting from the standard static configuration to DHCP and nothing works. I also went into services and disabled the computer browser. No change. I restarted the Netgear router, just for kicks. No change. My assumption would be that the network adapter is bad. How do I know this for sure, since Device Manager indicates that it is working? Any other suggestions on what I should check? Thanks!

I have had this problem since earlier this week. For some reason my Wireless Adapter will disconnect and hardly wants to reconnect. I have tried the following solutions:

1. Turn Router off and on.
2. Diagnose Problem.
3. Disable adapter then enable it again.
4. Uninstall adapter and install it again.
5. Disable 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.'

There was even a solution where someone said Wireless Zero Configuration service was the problem. I can't try this as I don't have this service. I would like a way to fix this but don't know how.

If there is any other information that is needed, let me know and I will post it. I have my information specs on my profile if anyone needs that.

Try the following...

1. Take out (or take it off) the charger.
2. Next take out the battery
3. Now hold down power button for 20 seconds and then rinsert battery.
4. Now put it on the charger again

NOTE: Make sure charger is plugged into the main power supply (not an extension cord, surge protector, etc.)

Sometimes, when the device is not plugged in directly, it doesn't get the power it needs. Holding the power button, while you restart it, clears out the temporary ram (no it won't delete anything you have saved) and will give the device access to the ram it needs.

Hi everyone; this is my first post here. I purchased a T450 (Core i7/Nvidia Graphics/SSD) last September here in Korea and upgraded to Windows 10 shortly thereafter. For the last few months (not exactly sure when it started, but I think months after I upgraded) I've had 2 system problems that may be related. #1: In my Windows power settings the computer is set to NEVER sleep when the computer is plugged in, yet sometimes (and I'm never sure when) it goes to sleep after only one minute of inactivity.  I thought maybe it happened only when the battery was charging, but this is not the case.  Resetting seems to fix the problem. #2: When I attempt to open Lenovo Power Manager 8 the application crashes and can't open.  I need to use the task manager to end the program. Has anyone else had these problems?  I'd really appreciate some help on this. Regards,Chris

The tips I got with this Kensington 33197 power adapter have numbers stenciled on them like N3, N5, N19, etc. The tips sold on their web site make no mention of the "N" numbers and have numbers like K20059, K20050, etc. and there is no cross reference.

You can also see a complete reference for "N" numbers to all the laptops they support at the above link. Again, no mention of the numbers Kensington uses on their site.

I need a cross reference for these kinds of numbers.

Kensington referred me to their telephone tech support; but, there is a language or cultural barrier that prevents their understanding what I need.

Does anyone know of such a reference?

The Intel AC3165 wifi adapter on my Inspiron 7559 periodically will disconnect every couple of minutes and most the time I have to go through the Disable/Enable route to get it to work.  But then, magically, it will start to work properly and will do so for several days until the problems start again.
I have the latest driver installed (18.33.0.1) and I have turned off the "allow operating system to turn off wifi" switch.  And I have played with other settings until I am blue in the face.
Furthermore, even when the adapter doesn't continually disconnect, it is totally unreliable when switching from one wifi source to another.  Sometimes the change is easy, but many times I have to reboot the computer to make it happen.  Very frustrating.

This is a common problem (I see lots of posts)
The problem source is the [Dell] AC adapter.  PA-21 Family, 65W, P/N: NX061.  It is made in China.
I have an XPS M1330.  Using Dell after warranty service, replaced the Mother Board twice, replaced the battery twice, replaced the AC adapter twice - not fixing it.
Turns out the power warning message is very informative.  It states "Please connect a Dell 65W AC adapter or greater for best system performance".  So, I plugged in my Dell 95W adapter - WOW Problem Solved.
A lab test of my new Dell 65W AC adapter shows it to be 64.6 watts.  If this unit gets hot (like after several hours of use), it may not put out the full 65 watts - the system may not recognize the adapter, it may power the system ok, but won't charge the battery.
These units burn out after only a few months of use. Their cables are too fragile. If Dell's or their supplier's Quality Control can't produce a reliable 65W product - I found seveal "Made In USA" universal adapters.

A:AC Adapter - Alert - "AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined"

Well my solution was simple.
I just removed the battery pack and powered up my notebook. Then I turned off the notebook replaced the battery pack and VOILA. The error message was gone.

Hello,    I have a lenovo y50 laptop that seems to be having an issue.  My laptop has been on most of the day and was at lower power since I did not have time to charge it at all today.  When I got home and I plugged the adapter into the wall then plugged it into my computer, I heard the noise of the laptop screen instantly going black.  When I looked back at my laptop I saw that the screen what black, the laptop was off, and none of the lights at the bottom left of the laptop were on even though the adapter was plugged in.  I also then began to hear a chirping noise that was coming from the power adapter which stopped when I unplugged it from my laptop.  I then tried hitting the power button multiple times but the laptop would have no response at all.  My suspicion is that the adapter went bad and sent a surge to my laptop.  Does this mean that my batteries dead or has the whole thing been killed?  Also, if there is any suggestions that you have that I can do to find the problem/troubleshoot I would greatly appriceate it.  Thanks for any responses.

Hi Nozshund ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you have the Machine number from the sticker or to get it from here (just keep the serial number confidential).

You may also proceed downloading the hardware manual from the support site specific to the y50 model.
Power checkout page on the manual would help you direct on testing the ac adapter to further isolate the issue.
Battery charging indicator should also light up as ac adapter would be able to charge the battery on a normal power board and systemboard controller.

Update us how it goes.

Several shops claim to support it, but the information on their sites are generally incorrect. Does any one know a reliably source for a replacement for a Lenovo Yoga 13 AC adapter with the following specs:Model: PA-1650-37LCInput: 100-240V AC, 2.0A, 50-60HzOutput: 20V DC, 3.25A, 65W  You can see an image of the adapter here:Lenovo Yoga 13 AC adapterThe square tip has the dimensions:Outer dimesions: 11mm x 4.6mmInner dimensions: 6.6mm x 3.2mm You can see a photo of the tip that goes into the laptop here: I hope that someone is able to help me with a right answer as to which current adaptor that is compatible as it seems to be pretty hard to get the original.

Mine is Dell Inspiron 3537, Os: Windows 7 Ultimate x64. My laptop wifi works fine for some period of time, but suddenly the current wireless connection gets disconnected and no wireless networks appear in the list. The network connection icon in taskbar changes to no network connection (small monitor with yellow exclamation icon). The wireless adapter is still enabled only.
Well i found a way to bring back the connection and to show the available wireless networks by disabling and enabling the dell wireless adapter under "change adapter settings" in Network and sharing center. But this problem keeps repeating at unpredictable intervals and i have to disable and enable the wireless adapter everytime!. Please help me with a solution.
I have already tried the following,
1. Re-installing,updating wireless network drivers.
2. Re-installing entire OS with full format of all hard drives.
3. Disabled (unchecked) "allow computer to turn off this device to save power" option under power management tab of dell wireless adapter properties.
4. Changed the power saving options for wireless adapter to "maximise perfomance" for both on battery and plugged in modes.
Having tried all these still no luck, the problem persists. I borrowed a digisol wireless USB adapter from my friend. this works fine all the time with no issues.
I have no idea why mine is not working properly. please do help.

Hello, Lenovo offers the 65W Travel AC Adapter to be lighter and smaller than the ordinary AC Adapters, which it is why it is handy for travel. Also, it comes with a country specific plug, that can be removed / changed, anyhow, I learned Lenovo does not think that to exchange the power plug makes it a travel adapter, apparently. This is despite the fact that the country plug can be removed.Amazing. So here there is few questions: 1) why does Lenovo not sell a kit with the spare country plugs for different countries? After all, that was meant to be a travel adapter?! Ah no, i forgot, the hotline told me it is only a travel adapter because it is smaller and lighter - NOT becuase you can remove the country specific plug!!! 2) The only picture with the other country plugs is attached, anyhow I found it on a site with bad english, which is why my concern is it might be a copy, not the original part. 3) This document shows the US, CN and EU country plugs with Replacement Number Parts (FRU),e.g. FRU 03X6286 for the US country plug. Anyhow, nobody seems to be able to ship such a single country plug. https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/documents/acc100125 4)This document shows the country plugs for other regions, e.g. UK, AU, BR... https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/documents/acc100168 Why are these two seperate documents / what is the difference - if there is any -since the body part FRU 03X8995 seems to be the same in both editions?! 5) ... You'll need a USB 2.0 to 10/100 Ethernet adapter (the Yoga 710 doesn't have USB C support). Here's a good option: https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Ethernet-Network-Adapter/dp/B00ET4KHJ2

Apologies if this has been addressed before but my problem is pretty specific and I couldn't find any threads about it.  For a quick backgound, my OS is Windows 10 (was Windows 8 prior) and my network adapter is an Intel Centrino N-2230.  I have a Lenovo Y500 laptop and my internet has been having issues. For background, it was working fine until sometime early this year. I got an ethernet cable and mainly relied on that. Whenever I would unplug my ethernet cord, most of the time my internet wouldn't work - the open networks availble shown would just be empty even though all my other devices connected to the internet just fine. I ignored this and continued because I mainly only used it with ethernet anyways, and if I really needed to I could disable and reenable my network adapter to get the internet working (for like 30 seconds before it would often die again).  I'm back home from college now however, and I need a consistent internet. The problem I face now is that when my laptop isn't plugged in, I can't seem to use internet at all (I can do the disable and re-enable technique but it works for like 5 seconds before it stops working again). When my laptop is plugged in, it stays connected to the internet consistently, but the quality of the connection is really inconsistent. For games that I play, every 10 minutes I usually have around 3-4 instances where the ping goes from 20 to like 1000 for 10-15 seconds, sometimes even completely disconectin... Read more

Try first downloading this into a flash drive: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/IdeaPad-Y-Series-laptops/IdeaPad-Y500-... Then, uninstall your old WLAN drivers. You won't be able to access internet after drivers are uninstalled, so use the file from the flash drive and install it onto your PC. A fresh driver install should do the trick. Hope it helps

Even if you were using Wi-Fi for the download it's probably just coincidence that something happened to the adapter immediately after the download completed. Do I have that right--that the download did complete?

Since you just downloaded Windows 7--I hope a genuine, not pirated, version--why are you trying to troubleshoot the adapter problem now instead of after a re-install of the OS?

Hi, I've had a Lenovo G510  for about 18 mths. Not used wifi yet as I have a wired connection in my house. Decided to check out the wifi today but I can't find a way to turn it on and I can't find any wireless device listed in Device Manager. All I have under "Network adapters" - are: Qualcomm Atheros AR8172/8176/8178 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller Also no "Other Devices" or Unknown devices listed either. I've tried scanning for hardware changes but no luck. Why can't windows find the wireless card? It was advertised as coming with a built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi adapter. I'm on Windows 8.1. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I have a lenovo ideapad y510p and everything was fine until for I thought I'd do the battery reset in the lenovo energy management,at first the battery was dead and laptop wouldnt turn on,,I found one way around this which is that first I take the battery out and then insert the ac adapter, the laptop turns on then I put it in hibernate while I insert battery after which it seems to charge but only after I do these steps, but if I take the adapter out and insert it back in,it would stop charging.this is all because of the lenovo energy management software battery reset.I've uninstalled it but it doesnt work.any suggestions?I'm guessing one of the steps after full charge during the battery reset the battery gets drained where it says "plugged in and not charging" until it reaches zero is the problem.

I just bought this laptop two days ago and I'm unable to download anything from the Internet faster than 0-2 Mbps when I'm perfectly able to download at speeds of around 40 Mbps on my Lenovo B570 using the same 2.4 ghz band on my router. When it's hard-wired to the router, however, I get about 90 Mbps down which is fine. I've installed the "latest" driver from Lenovo's support page, which appears to be exactly the same driver that it was preloaded with although it gives a new version number in the description and is as recent as this month to no avail. I've also installed the latest BIOS and that didn't help either. I reset my router settings to factory defaults for the hell of it and that didn't help the situation either. I'm not sure what else to do at this point except return the laptop for a refund. Any ideas?

Lenovo T430 running win7 home premium 64bit.

Wife purchased new in 2013 and it has been problematic almost from the get-go. The machine was very slow to operate, slow to execute various mouse commands and such. The machine had some sort of warning message pop up in constantly the lower left corner that said something to the effect of the back-up section of the drive was full and needed addressed. It would not allow any modification to the drive(s), the files, or the partitions via the OS tools.

Wife got frustrated with it and took it into the local computer repair place to have it fixed. They 'cleaned it up', saying it 'should run faster now', but the error message was not eliminated and the machine ran only marginally faster.

Wife purchased a new laptop and now I have the Lenovo. I used it for a month before becoming completley frustrated with it. I tried some things like scaning for viruses, malware etc but found little to nothing in that regard. The slowness kept getting worse and worse to the point that the machine was pretty much unusable.

In a fit of frustration and short of just throwing the thing away, I formated the drive using Darik's Boot and Nuke. Then installed a full version of Vista, then an upgrade version of win7 home premium. These two installs seem to go ok and the machine is booting up fine in win7. The error message is gone, as is the slowness as near as I can tell.

I have a strange issue. I have a Lenovo T60 laptop and I am experiencing problems with the power management/power guage.

It will often show the battery not installed (power gauge is a greyish-white color with dashed lines) or it shows a red X. It does not matter if I am on AC power or on Battery power, it will show the full range of power, battery level, not installed, or an error.

I have searched Lenovo's site and I seem to remember seeing an FAQ about this, but now that I need it, I cannot find it.

What can I check or do to stop this? While it is annoying, I am not sure if I am having a battery problem or not. I did check my battery on Lenovo's site to see if it was recalled and it is not.

I do appreciate any help that any one can give me.

Thanks!

I recently bought a new Lenovo G780, as my old HP laptop failed on me. However, the harddrive from my HP was fine, so when I got the new computer I decided to just take the harddrive out of my HP and put it into my new Lenovo. I've got the drivers for everything else to work, except my wireless network adapter refuses to install drivers from any source I can find. The adapter is an Atheros AR9285. I've tried lenovo's online drivers, and have even bought Driver Manager and asked the support staff to find drivers that work for me. They said they found one that worked, but I tried installing it and it said that "This computer is not manufactured by Quanta Computers" and then didn't install it. I have them working on that right now. But seriously, if they don't find a solution, what could the problem be? And how do I get my network adapter working again?

Here is some additional important information:
-The harddrive they gave me came with windows 7 x64 home edition. I am using windows 7 x64 professional.
-The wireless network adapter works if I use the harddrive the computer came with
-I am a chemical engineering college student who needs internet to do his assignments, and this little netgear usb adapter my friend lent me isn't cutting it

Please help me. Let me know if you need any further information

If not have a look at this thread Best Atheros AR 9285 Driver? - Tech Support Forum there maybe something in there.

For the last two weeks, every time I start my Dell INSPIRON E1705 while using the power supply I am greeted with the following message. "The AC power adapter type cannot be determined. Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge. Please connect a Dell 90W AC adapter or higher for best system operation". I press the F1 Key and everything works fine. I've read about this on other websites and most say it's a design flaw in the power supply after the cord has been properly wound around the supply as designed. Apparently a few of the cords internal wire strands become broken and cause this message. My computer is from June 2006 and shouldn't be having this issue so early...or ever. This seems like a flaw that should have created some type of manufacturers recall since so many people are having this issue. I'm of course out of warranty, will Dell replace this free of charge?

`

A:Power Supply - "The AC power adapter type cannot be determined....."

You are correct, the failure is due toloss of the power supply ID signal. Sometimes this happens because of strain on the plug, which breaks the signal wire. Some even are so severe that the insulation breaks away from the plug; this is due to rough handling. The other cause is one or more of the power socket solder connections to the system board become broken. This also is related to severe handling. I have seen one case where all three power connections and three of four mechanical connections were disconnected. If the power supply is bad, a replacement will cure the problem. If not, then the socket is bad, and this will require a system board replacement. If you are experienced, you can try to resolder the connections. I am experienced and was not able to get my daughter's E6000 to work by resoldered. More recent Dells are using a replacable power connection board which is a much cheaper repair.

Hi guys. My wireless connection woes are never far away .

OK, so I have a wireless connection that has been working fine for almost a year.

Yesterday, I restart my computer, and the connection is connecting...disconnecting...connecting...disconnecting...as so on!

This is only when I am actually browsing the Internet. It never disconnects when the connection is idle.

I have tried changing channels, and I don't think it can be interference, because no matter how close to the WAP I am, the connection keeps connecting and disconnecting.

Also, I tried connecting my WAP directly to my laptop and even the LAN connection kept disconnecting and reconnecting in the same manner! I even tried connecting the WAP to another PC and still, the same dis-reconnecting difficulty.

What to do? Is the WAP faulty? I notice on the WAP the RX/TX light is on and the Link light is on, then (when it disconnects) one light goes off, the other stays on, then the other goes on and the first one goes off, and this goes on and on and then they both stay on. After 10 seconds the pattern repeats itself...

What on earth is going on?

By the way, my WAP is connected to a router which is connected to my cable modem. The wired connection to the router works perfectly, but when the WAP is involved this happens (dis-reconnecting) as I said, even when PC/laptop is hard wired into the WAP.

???

Help...please!

It was working fine for a year, and then this?

I appreciate any help in advance (as usual ).... Read more

I just purchased an adapter plug that allows me to connect my Lenovo/IBM thinkpad (T420) to my HDTV by plugging the HDMI cord into my TV and the other end to this adapter plug which converts the HDMI cable into a male plug which fits into my display port (there is no HDMI port on this model computer). It worked, but now I can't remove the adapter plug...it's stuck in the laptop display port. I do not know if the problem is caused by the male adapter plug or the female jack in the computer, but they're locked together now.

I have previously read review comments (on these HDMI/display port adapter plugs) mentioning this jamming happening on more than a couple occasions, but I don't recall any resolutions being mentioned except to break off (and destroy) the plug and possibly damage the display port as well. I called Lenovo tech support but they said I'd have to mail the computer to them to get it fixed. I'd prefer avoiding that if possible even though my warranty is still in effect and it would be of no cost to me.....just time lost without a computer.

I'd greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who may be aware of how to resolve this problem (and also how to avoid it happening again) without doing damage to either the plug or especially the computer display port.

Thanks for your consideration in any case....

Hi All,

I have searched extensively for this issue but haven't found any workable solutions so I'm posting.

Recently purchased a Lenovo Ideapad Y580 and performed a fresh install of Win 7 Premium 64-bit on a new SSD. Installed latest drivers for all hardware but discovered after the install that my wireless adapter wasn't able to find any wireless networks (it worked find under Windows 8 when laptop was first unboxed). My wired connection works fine though, I am able to connect up to my network without issue using a network cable. Also, I am able to connect to my home wireless network without issue using another laptop.

In addition, the adapter icon in my tray shows a red-X on it. I've found many issues through web searches that suggest driver updates or hardware disable/enable steps but neither of these approaches have worked for me. I am holding off re-installing my OS until I've tried some more simpler and less time consuming options.

When I turned my Edge 15 (80H1) off the other day, it was working fine.  I went to turn it back on the next day, and all I got was the power light blinking slowly (approx. 1 second intervals).  When it is plugged in the light that usually indicates it's plugged in isn't on any more.  I can't get th power light to stop blinking when it's not plugged in.  The only way to get it to stop blinking is if I plug it in (still blinking) and then remove the power cord (then it stops), but of course won't power up.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Anyone help me out before I chuck this off a wall!? I have a Lenovo G780 laptop... it is not powering on at all. After reading a few posts I've taken out the battery and removed the power cord and then held the power button for 30 secs, 10 secs etc and now put the battery and power cord back in and the battery light at the front will turn on to say it is charging, when I hit the power button the power button lights up and the front power light turns on also, after 3 seconds approx the lights turn back off.  Nothing appears on the screen, no fans. no noises that I can hear? What the heck has happened everything has been fine? I purchased the laptop December 2012 and for the last year no problems at all apart from maybe some little problems regarding Lenovo Solution Centre where it tried to update something and I had to roll it back. My warranty ran out on the 21st December 2013!!!!!!!How to proceed?

A:Lenovo G780 won't power on!

So after taking out the battery, power cord, RAM, HDD and then looking for the CMOS battery *given up can't find it*I've put them all back in and when I press the power button NOTHING HAPPENS AT ALL.NOTHING.NO LIGHTS, NO CHARGING LIGHT, NO POWER LIGHT.NOTHING.It is dead as doorknob.I've got the HDD in an old crappy crappy crappy laptop compared to my g780

I bought my laptop from BH not even 1 month ago and barely used the laptop since I travel a lot. Today in the morning, I was watching a video and laptop just shutdown itself (battery was almost fully charged and unplugged) like you unpluge a TV and the screen disappears. Afterwards, I tried to open it but simply power button does not work. I plugged in the adapter but there is no sign that laptop is working (no lights, no screen, no fans, nothing).I cannot believe I am having such a stupid problem like this. Is there anyone knows what can be the problem and the solution ?  (I already tried to remove the rams and replaced with working rams but nothing changed)Currently I live in Austria and I don't even know if the warranty covers in this country.

Can I use 45 Watt adapter for dell inspiron 15 5559?? I got the adapter along with the laptop when I bought it. But a warning is displayed on screen prompting me to use 65 Watt adapter... If so why 65 Watt adapter wasn't given with the laptop instead of 45 Watt?

A:Power adapter

Hi SUSMI,
The system is designed to support both 45W and 65W adapters - see the specifications here - http://dell.to/2fhPLIf
When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point.
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

I have a Toshiba Satellite C655D that needs a replacement ac power adapter, when I look it up it says I need:

Laptop AC Adapter: 19 Volts, 75 Watts, 3.95 Amps, 5.5mm x 2.5mm Connector

or

Laptop AC Adapter: 19 Volts, 65 Watts, 3.42 Amps, 5.5mm x 2.5mm Connector

Someone gave me a new, in the box AC Adapter with USB port, made by Insignia.
The documentation says "converts 120v AC to 3-12v with 1300mA max output."

I realize this is a question not exactly hardware related, but I'm hoping someone knows the answer....I'm afraid to plug it in and fry my laptop

I bought a Dynex USB 2.0 4-Port Hub last week and have decided to add an external power supply to power the hub. The short and terse User Manual notes on the final page that a 5Volt / 2.5 Amp Power Adapter may be connected. I called their customer support number and talked to a lady, but her best advice was return to the store and ask there. My experience with this store over the years has been fat chance for this kind of request. Has anyone got a suggestion as to where I can purchase such a USB Power Adapter?

A:USB Hub Power Adapter

Radio Shack would be a good place to start although you might have to get one of their adjustable models. A Google search should also turn up something. Actually I just replaced my D-Link powered USB1 hub with a USB2 model. The old one is just sitting around and it has a 5V 2.4A adapter. If you want it so you can use the adapter just PM me and I'll send it to you.

I recently bought a replacement power adapter for my dell e1505. The computer works but it won't charge the battery and tells me that since the computer does not recognize the charger, I need to reseat the power adapter... What does that mean?

A:Power Adapter

Hello aaronbaron,

Reseat the power adapter just means make sure the power adapter is plugged in good on the laptop and the wall outlet. I would try powering off the laptop, unplug the power cord, take the new battery out. Reinstall the new battery only and try to power on the computer. If that does not work plug in the power cord and power up with the new battery installed.

Lenovo Y530 here... recently had to re install a program. About a half hour after the reinstall my laptop shut down on its own. Now it shuts down in a half hour or so if I don't use it. (Not hibernation but power off shut down). Windows power management options are grayed out. I do not know how to access Lenovo power management. Searched this forum but found nothing on the subject. Can someone please give me instructions for accessing Lenovo power management? This is driving me nuts. Walt

My Laptop turned off out of no were when i wasent looking at it, when i tried to turn it on i heard a boom sound but it was quiet. Then i started to smell some thing weird. And when i go online and check if my laptop has warranty, it doesent detect anything.  But i recently got a email saying that i have 15 days of warranty. But i think the website doesent want to work with the serial number.  I have another question, does opening the back cover void waranty ?? I had opened it to just take a look at it and check if i saw anything burned.  So when i click on the power button, the fans wont turn on just the lights. I need help as soon as possible because i need a fast answer my warranty is almost void !

A:Lenovo y50 70 Wont Turn On Only POwer

Hi AmericanFighter ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The burnt smell and the boom noise heard before the issue is an important event that should be notified with the technical support team.

As some SN may not show readily on the warranty look up page at the moment due to some changes in the server  you may call in Lenovo tech for an immediate identification and recommendation for repair on the issue or you can send me a private message to check the warranty for you (don't post the SN as it should be kept confidential).

As per opening the cover to investigate , this would not void the warranty as long as no damage during the process as commonly done on customer upgrades similar to this discussion. Issue may either be the power port , systemboard and heatsink and fan needed to be serviced,

Hello guys. My ThinkPad 450S was all working fine until I switched it off last night before going to sleep. On wake-up I tried to switch it on and find it not responding. I tried to plug the power adapter only to find it not responding too (normally on plugging the power adapter, the red light on lid's ThinkPad flashes and the green light on the power buttom also flashes). This morning they were all dormant when I plug in the power adapter. Before I switched it off, the batteries were full (100%) as it has two batteries internal and external one. I didn't try to open it or do anything about it, may be this evening. What might be the problem and possible solution to it? Please help me out.  Regards, Cathbert.

Hi all, I just started a grad school program that requires me to be in class for a number of hours each day. Unfortunately, the class has limited power outlets so I won't always be guaranteed one. I'm looking into a power bank/external battery charger for the Y500 but can't seem to find one that is compatible. I was told the power specs of my laptop are 19.5v 6.15A, but the issue is that most of the ones I've found online have a max output of 5A. Does anyone have a recommended item? Thanks for your help!

My 3ys old Lenovo G550 has stopped accepting power from the power jack. It's been fluffy for a while and has needed massaging to work, but now it's game over. It's doesn't with/without the battery. Been surfing around and partly concluded that it's a weak point in this design. Was on the Lenovo support today, and it will be too expensive to let them work the problem. Also learned that the power jack comes as a pigtail that can be purchased, but the laptop needs a total tear-apart to exchange the cable. Have not been able to find instructions/videos showing the needed tricks. Anyone in here that can help, or has experience with the same issue?

A:Lenovo G550 power issue

Sorry to hear this as I own a G550. My first thought after receiving and plugging power cord into it first time " what a cheesy weak and wimpy feel it had" - I've been waiting for it to crater ever since. Frankly surprised it has lasted this long. However, when it does, I'll not hesitate to tear that sucker apart to attempt a fix.

Good luck on getting it working. If you do find a maintenance manual, please do share.

The problem is when ? get the power surge on usb port device needs more power than port can supply message, I cant always click to that message and to restart that port, I need to restart my computer. I dont really want to restart my pc every time. It takes much more time than resetting that port. So do you have any suggestions that will help me to prevent that power surge, or even if it is not possible can you tell me how to go to that page which resets the port? I use razer mamba.Thanks.

Good morning, was wondering if anyone else is experiencing power issues with the Lenovo N22 Chromebooks. School district purchased about 100 units and 10 of the units powered on once and that was it, no charging light or sign of life. Currently dealing with State testing, will be contacting Lenovo once testing is concluded. Thanks,JJL

A:Lenovo N22 Chromebooks - Power Issues

We are having the same problem with the majority of our N22s (several hundred). If we press Esc + Chromebook Refresh key + Power, wait for the yellow exclamation screen and then restart the Chromebook by pressing the power button twice, it will power up. Otherwise, they are dead as door nails. We are sending two of the Chromebooks back to Lenovo so they can take a look at what is causing them to not power on with out a powerwash. For now, we just have to keep powerwashing until Lenovo comes up with a fix or we RMA hundreds of N22s. I prefer the first option.

After finding out this pc has a low end graphics card i wanted to upgrade it, but as soon as i found out it had a 250 watt power supply, i started asking around on the internet to see if i could use a standard power supply, but i turns out i can't do that since this desktop requires a proprietary power supply. Could i just order a 500w proprietary power supply from lenovo?

I have an issue with a G50-45 notebook. The owner is an older acquaintance of mine who couldn't use it with the WIndows 8, which is the original OS comming with it, so in order to install a WIn 7 was needed an update of the BIOS (Downloaded from the official Lenovo support center ofcourse). After the update I finaly managed to boot Windows 7 on the notebook, but now it won't turn on, while battery is on. I tried the battery draining suggestions mentioned not once or twice in this forum, and nothing gave result.(Ref: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-B-and-G-Series-Notebooks/G50-won-t-start-on-battery/td-p/2140152 )  When pressing the power OR the Novo button it is getting in a cotinous boot loop while battery is on. I tryed many varieties, but while the battery is installed - the notebook keeps restarting, but when I remove it and power on only on AC, evrything seems to be going quite well. So after I installed the new OS, I digged myself into the forum, and I ran onto the above mentioned techniques, but unfortunatelly after several tries - I give up. My question is - do you have any other ideas? Is my problem hardware, because it does not exit when I remove this particular hardware - the battery, or it is some issue because of the updated BIOS?  I hope somebody will give me the next direction how to fix what I did, please =) Thank you in advanced  BRStacy

I have a lenovo edge 2 1580 and it worked perfectly fine last night.  Today I pushed the power button and nothing happened.  The little white LED next to the power button is lit but the screen will not turn on and neither will the fans.  I have tried unplugging the battery and RAM and holding the power button but that didn't work.  I also tried putting a paper clip in the little hole next to the power button but that didn't work either.  Has anyone else come across this issue?  I have searched the forums and tried everything I could find but nothing seems to work. The laptop is still under warranty but if I send it in, I was told it will take 2-4 weeks before I will get it back and I have important work information that I need to get from there and it can't wait that long. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
