Update drivers: ma-config and SlimDrivers
The problem is as follows:
The hard drive was in trouble, so it was replaced.
Then I put the windows 7 again.
And there was no problem, until the driver (s) touch (touchsmart) does not work.
I tested it with my finger and pen hit the computer screen.
I went to HP's download page all available drivers for my computer, did not work.
Update drivers with the program ma-config and SlimDrivers not resulted.

Same problem as some of the others with touch screen not responding. It works part of the time and then stops. BUT this is the weird part... if I press control/alt/delete and select Task Manager then select "X" to close the box (without doing anything), the touch screen will work again. It used to work for a day or two at a time. Now I have to do the Task Manager thing about every 10-15 minutes. It's driving me nuts!! At most I have my email and maybe 2-3 browser tabs open. I am in no way a techie person. If someone could help me using plain English that would be wonderful. Or tell me this thing is dying and I need a new one. Help, please!! Product: HP Pavilion Touchsmart 15-n090saI received a HP Touchsmart as a christmas present. I set this up on Xmas day and used it for the second time yesterday, on opening the lid (pulling up on the lid in the middle) I heard a cracking noise. Once I had the lid fully open I was presented with a number of large cracks starting at the top of the screen going down the middle towards the bottom of the screen. Now as you can imagine I was rather shocked as I have mentioned this is only the second time I have used the laptop.I could understand if I had dropped the laptop etc, but I haven't. There is no damage to the laptop outer casing (top, bottom etc it still has all the cellophane around the laptop that it is covered in during transit).. My only thought was there must have been some sort of manufacturing defect in the screen or maybe a small hair line crack before I started to use the laptop.So I first of all I approached the vendor where I purchased the device from, they advised me to contact the manufacture (HP).. I spoke to an HP Technical Support agent, described what had happened with the laptop advising that it had only been purchased on the 14/12/2013. Same story happened to me. We took it back to Best Buy and because they thought I caused the damage, didn't help us. (This being only two weeks after purchasing.) Just got off the phone with HP and of course they cannot stand behind their products. So now I have a very expensive paper weight while my homework is piling up. I asked to simply speak to a Supervisor and every single supervisor happened to be in a meeting. In my opinion, it is not very conducive to work productivity to have all managers out at the same time. I even stated that I found this forum with others who have had the same issue on the HP site, making this a known defect. No one had seen this on the website. I want to make it acknowledged that I went out of my way to find myself a HP laptop. I have had their products before and have some now with NO problems what so ever. I put my laptop away for 2 weeks on a shelf while I was on vacation, I came back and opened it up and there was a star crack like something had hit it on the right side in middle of the screen. The outside cover is smooth and undamaged and the inside surface is is well. The laptop itself is performing perfectly, but I don't know for how long. Is this an ongoing problem? I have no idea what happened but today my touchsmart window is all messed up...the large icons (IE. Calander, Music, Photos, Weather, etc) all have the wrong symbol/smaller icon on the upper right corner (for instance, Music has the photo icon but the large Photo icon is missing...there are 2 calendars, one has headphones and the correct date, the other just says loading but has the correct smaller calendar icon), etc...
Any ideas on how to correct this?? I'm so frustrated with this Vista TouchSmart!!

I have a touch smart pc it is an ( all-in-one model: 310-1033/product numberBT566AA #ABA ) i was using it and went to get me a coffee when i came back the screen was black, i could see it had power so i went to the hp web site followed the instructions unplug,hold power etc. did this more then the 3 time suggested and it is still black pulled off the back cleaned any dust and retried the suggestion again to no avail, a neighbor told me to replace the video card but before i do anything thought i might see if anyone here can help me . i also saw that this is a common problem per google but once again a lot of suggestions can anyone please help me with this i do not want to scrape this as i have 3 years worth of info ,pictures, home movies of my children, not to mention 3 chapters of my new book with research stored on it, im not a computer genius and this is my first computer ever so if you can help me please and thank you.

Root up in safe mode by tapping F8 during the hp logo splash screen. Select advanced option or repair computer. Select your language then "Repair Your Computer" after Windows located your Windows 7 installation select "Other Options" Select command Prompt. At the command prompt type then hit enter

I purchased this system on 9/18/2013 and the TouchSmart screen is unresponsive to finger touch. When accessing the Control Panel, I can open Pen and Touch but it does not do anything, nor does opeing Calibration allow finger touch to be recognized. Please help!!

Is there a way to disable the touchsmart feature in the bios or with a startup command? I have a touchsmart with a broken digitizer otherwise it functions normally. I disable the touchscreen in the control panel and am able to use the computer without a problem until windows or HP does an update. Each time it updates it defaults the control panel setting to enable the touchscreen and then I am back to square 1. If there was a way to disable the touchscreen before it boots or while it is booting then this would not be an issue. Thanks, Vinny

This started with no warnings. Computer was on few hours later came in and it was on the blue screen so I waited about an hour checked again still there. So I hard reset same result. I did f9 diagnostics and all passed. F11 for recovery will not do anything at all. I then took it apart and cleaned it in case of heat problem all looked good. So now I'm stuck lol. I've researched and some said reset bios but I don't want to do anything that might harm it. Any help would be appreciated

OK I have been having problems trying to get a client's computer fixed. It is an HP TouchSmart 300-1223 which is an all-in-one. First it was viruses. I got rid of 54 of them. Then the hard drive was bad. Just swapped it out and put a brand new install of Windows7 64-bit Home Premium. Did all of the updates. Official drivers. I even put a 4 gig stick of RAM in there instead of the 2 gig stick that ended up in there somehow. RAM was tested and working BTW. Ran like a rocket ship compared to before! Then I was testing to make sure everything was good to go so I could give this guy his computer back and it would be out of my life. Got a bluescreen with the Stop code 0x0000001E so I turned off the computer, unplugged the USB keyboard and mouse, and tried to turn it back on. Fans ran and everything but the screen was not on. I did the same turn everything off, unplug everything procedure as previously mentioned only I removed the stick of RAM, turned it on, and got the beeps saying it had no RAM. I re-seated the stick of RAM, plugged everything back in, and BAM! The screen had color again. No problems with it for a day and a half running it constantly (videos playing, surfing) so I felt confident giving the client his computer back. That was two days ago and he just told me he got the same exact error I just mentioned to you guys. He is going to bring it by again tomorrow morning. There are no beeps, the hard drive sounds like it spins and the fan spins. I've tried replacing the motherboard but the screen remains black. Windows 7 OS.
WOW!!!!You replaced the motherboard!?! That is a tough thing to do. What it the same issue as before? No video? Pavilion Touchsmart 23 All-In-One Model f339AMD Radeon HD 8670D My screen is so dim after the computer "wakes up" from sleep mode that I can only read it holding my face an inch away. Restarting brings the brightness back to normal, only to happen again the next time the computer sleeps. This has only started happening since upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 10. - All drivers are up to date - All Windows updates are up to date - There is no brightness slider in power options - I have no brightness controls on my keyboard Please help me fix this so I don't have to revert back to Windows 8! I think I might have made some headway with this problem. I had a friend call me up and he was suffering from these same issues. The partial solution (and probably the major part) that I discovered is that there was a critical BIOS update that had not been done. Because Windows 10 was already installed it didn't show up on the HP Support page or the HP Update software. The way I got around this was to tell the HP support website that i had Windows 8.1. The update then appeared. I downloaded the latest BIOS update for his model and installed it. (BTW: it worked just fine in Windows 10). Once I updated, the dim screen issue was resolved. However, as far as the screensaver, auto sleep, or auto hibernate are still not working. You can manually put the computer to sleep via a button or the start menu and it comes back out just fine. His was an AMD based All-in-one and i don't recall if anyone has had issues with the Intel based platforms. So to recap... If you haven't installed 10 yet make sure you do the BIOS update first. If you have, goto the support website and enter your model. Change the OS to Windows 8.1. Download and install. If anyone has anymore insight, PLEASE reply so others can benefit. I'm not too sure what is the problem with my girlfriend's computer, it was working perfectly fine for the past 3 years we've had it but all of a sudden when she came home and tryed to wake it up from sleep mode, it was just a black screen...we then proceeded to reset the computer and unplugged the power cable from the back and let it sit for a little over an hour. I came back thinking maybe the computer just overheated or something and it needed to cool down but instead every single time I turn it on...the light on the top goes on, i hear the fans start up like it normally would if there were no problems but the screen is just black and doesnt change...i even let it sit like that for a good hour or so and nothing seemed to happen. I read on other HP forums to try to press F10 as the computer starts up to open BIOS but my keyboard won't even light up or work. Does anyone have a fix for this? Is it internal or what? I thought maybe it would be something wrong with the MOBO but i would think if it was, it wouldnt even turn on at all...I appreciate any responses, Thanks. Hello HP, I installed Windows 10 in my Touchsmart 610, the computer worked fine for couple of weeks and then suddenly the screen went black, no mouse or keyboard looks to worked.I seach for the issue in internet and I found that is a common problem that happened with PC that have 2 video boards and the solutino was to change the video from the second board to the video board in the mother board, others blogs state that the problem is fixed updating drivers and other said that F11 bring the screen back.F11 worked for me, after hit F11 several times (Power up/down-hit F11) the windows logo came up and I manage to log in, I checked drivers and all looked updated. I thought all was working but no after few hours and the computer went black again. I tried again F11 and after few days of trying again windows logo came on this time window show that an upgrade was need so I did the upgrade and after reboot the computer did not came back of the black screen. The computer after power up still sound like it starting, if I insert a CD it try to read it, no sure if it does since there is no image.I tried presing F10 to enter in the bios, that did not worked.I try using connect directly USB mouse and key board but that did not worked.Tried to reimage inserting the reimage disk.Since there is no a second port for video I can not use a second display as other blogs recomend. When you turn it on the screen is black but you can hear the fan running. I tried what they had in the troubleshooting page but it didn't work because when I plug it back in it's on and the fan is running again.More replies
Recently my HP Touchsmart display stopped working. The fans turn on, the hard drive, and DVD drives spin but nothing is displayed on the screen... It is completely black or blank. I replaced the video card and that did not help the situation. I have also tried literally dozens of times resetting the bios via the jumpers because I read someother threads on this forum suggesting that might help and I've had no luck. Please help! The touch screen on my Envy laptop no longer works. I've tried restarting and shutting off, but to no avail. When I go to PC Info, it tells me that: "No pen or touch input is available for this display." This is obviously incorrect, because my laptop is, in fact, a touch screen. One night, I turned off my computer and went to bed. I woke up the next morning, went to my computer only to see my computer won't display any picture. It is an HP TouchSmart 310-1037 All-In-One. It won't display picture on the screen whatsoever, when I try to turn it off, it won't turn off unless I hold the power button down for 3 seconds. I tried the F5 F10 routine countless times and it still won't work. I feel like the only way to fix it is to factory reset the computer (if it's possible without display) or send it in to get it fixed. I noticed my touch screen has stopped working on my HP Touchsmart. I don't use it a lot so I'm not entirely certain when it happened. I've tried the fixes listed on the HP site with no luck. Comp is about a year old so I don't think it's a hardware issue. I've seen some sites where the windows update will cause problems - not sure.
I can't seem to find anything in control panel that helps - like the touchscreen/tablet options or the pen/touch options.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Then the hard drive was bad. Just swapped it out and put a brand new install of Windows7 64-bit Home Premium. Did all of the updates. Official drivers. I even put a 4 gig stick of RAM in there instead of the 2 gig stick that ended up in there somehow. RAM was tested and working BTW. Ran like a rocket ship compared to before! Then I was testing to make sure everything was good to go so I could give this guy his computer back and it would be out of my life. Got a bluescreen with the Stop code 0x0000001E so I turned off the computer, unplugged the USB keyboard and mouse, and tried to turn it back on. Fans ran and everything but the screen was not on. I did the same turn everything off, unplug everything procedure as previously mentioned only I removed the stick of RAM, turned it on, and got the beeps saying it had no RAM. I re-seated the stick of RAM, plugged everything back in, and BAM! The screen had color again. No problems with it for a day and a half running it constantly (videos playing, surfing) so I felt confident giving the client his computer back. Hi, My HP ENVY 23 TouchSMART AiO Pc is no longer working. When I power on nothing appears on the screen at all - it remains black at all times. I can hear the fan or something inside making noises so it's getting some sort of power. I have to hold down the power button to switch it off. It seems from the forum posts that there are many many people with the same issue, and no solution to the problem! When will HP take responsibility for this issue and provide a solution? The issue is the "Touchsmart" screen is no longer responding to touch!!! What's the point of a touch screen laptop if it does not respond to touch!!!! This seems to be a driver related issue, but could be related to something else as well. To being, please perform a hard reset. Next, I recommend restoring the BIOS so the notebook will research the hardware that it has installed. At first i though it was like a normal failure and that will get fixed by turning the pc of or restarting so I did not pay attention to it until now that I had restart my pc multiple times. Hey everyone. I am using an HP Touchsmart 300-1020. It was working fine, one morning when turning it on the fans powered up, they were clearly spinning to fast as they were really loud, but the screen was black. No logo, no bios no beeps. I do not know what has cause this problem as we have never had a single problem with this computer. I would like to know if it is an issue with the CPU, Video card, or the motherboard? Exact same thing happened to me in May...just 1 month out of warranty. The computer repair people found that my hard drive had burnt out and had to replace it completely. And the hard drive was completely gone so there was no way to recover anything, so I lost all of my files, including my client files. The worst part was that he told me that it was common among 'the new hp' and how hp was getting a lot of their parts made in china now and that it is widely known that they are only good for around a year. hi The latest Windows 10 update broke my touch screen. I had already installed the Windows 10 Annivesary Update. Following the HP instructions to fix the touch screen not working issue did not work. If I roll back the Windows update, things work again. The touch screen driver does not appear to have been directly updated, as I cannot rollback the driver (date is in 2006 and the rollback option in device manager indicates that there is no rollback driver available.) Any idea if a new driver is available or if there is another solution so that I don't have to rollback a cumulative Windows update? Thanks JimMore replies
I have an HP ENVY Touchsmart 15 (Windows 8) which now showing black screen after recent BIOS update. The laptop will power up, but the screen remains black. The power light remains on, but the screen, CAPS LOCK and WIFI buttons remains unresponsive and don't seem to flash an eroor code. The sound of the HDD can be heard on boot up, as can the fans. I'm at a bit of a loss where to go from here, if you can guide me than I can resolve the issue. I can see a few people have had similar problems with other models. The laptop: HP Envy TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC (15-j173cl)Windows 8.1 Pro The problem: I use an external monitor, so my laptop is usually shut. Randomly, my touch screen THINKS something is touching it, which disrupts whatever I'm doing. I would like to disable the touch screen completely, as I do not use it at all. I thought maybe the latch wasn't closing properly, but the screen resolution changes when I shut the laptop, so it KNOWS it's closed and switches to the proper resolution for my external monitor, but it DOES NOT disactivate the touch screen, and some dirt or something is touching it, changing where my mouse is pointed, where I am typing, etc. I have tried cleaning the screen and keyboard with compressed air. The problem happens randomly; sometimes when I CAD for the day, sometimes after hours of working.

You can do this by going into Device Manager > click the + or > by Human Interface Devices > right click on HID-compliant touch screen > choose disable. This will have disabled the touch ability. My daughter has not turned on her TV/computer in over a year. We just turned it on and the screen is distorted and bright green, purple and blue. I have no idea what is wrong with it. I researched it online and apparently other people had the same problem, but I couldn't find a solution. I don't know if it's an easy fix, or if it's something really bad that I wouldn't be able to fix on my own. I've never had this happen before, so I have no clue what to do. Does anyone know how to fix it, and if it's not fixable by me, what steps do I take to get it fixed...and is it worth it? It's a shame cuz it's hardly been used....it was one of those impulse purchases for my daughter's bedroom, who was 3 at the time, thinking she'd use the touchscreen for games....we've had it since Aug 2009, and she's probably only turned it on 4 times since then....she's never watched the tv either cuz she's watches in the living room or my room all these years. I turn it on to update it once a year, last time being a little over a year ago, or more I think, and it was fine. I have tried all the fixes F10, wait then F5, wait then Enter, then F10. Does not fix problem. Tried the F8 but since I can not see anything after the brief HP Logo screen flash - this does not work I have removed the hard drive, CD drive, and memory and tried to get the BIOS to come up. I got beeps so I had to install one memory module back. I tried it with each of them by themselves and that did not bring it up. I tried a USB keyboard to eliminate the wireless keyboard and that did not make a difference, even tried to boot with no keyboard as well. I can hit CTRL ALT DEL and duplicate the HP Logo flash over and over with the wireless and USB keyboards so know the monitor is functional. What I do not know is why it turns off at that point. There has to be a BIOS issue that HP needs to address because I have read about this happening on other TouchSmart platforms from the PC to the laptops. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong? Do I need to take the mother board out and re-solder the GPU with a rework hot air soldering station? I might just do that on my own, it cant hurt. Paul

About a month ago the cursor on my laptop screen disappeared and the clickpad stopped working. The touch screen still worked. I closed it down as I had to run and when I came back it was back. Nothing wrong after that. This morning I was on my laptop walked away for a minute and came back and the same thing happened. This time it's not coming back though.
I went into the control panel and installed all the updates that were available but that didn't help. Any other ideas of what to do to get it to work again? From what I can tell there isn't a "shutoff" for the clickpad that I might have hit.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Hello, i have a HP TouchSmart computer that i need to reformat badly. I am wondering if reformatting it with any regular vista CD key will lose such features as the touchscreen, wireless mouse & keyboard, built in webcam.
The Original owner of the computer claims it came with its own Vista CD key that he lost.
If the HP restore partition is in good condition (not damaged or malware-ridden), you can perform a re-write of the factory-original hard-disk-image by tapping the F11 as your HP is first powered on, then following the prompts as shown (step-by-step, with screenshots) in the following instructions at the HP support website --- http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...=3752240#N1066
Note that you'd first want to move any data that you wish to save off to removable or external media before you run a return to factory original.
Once the factory-original image is restored, you'll have to visit Windows Update to get the Security Updates since the TouchSmart was shipped. You'll want to update the Security software as well (if you need a free alternative, I think "avast! antivirus" is a good choice).
Once the PC is updated and fully protected against malware, you can then create a recovery disk set onto DVDs following the instructions from this HP support webpage --- http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...name=c00882383
Having made your own Recovery DVD set allows you the freedom of running the recovery onto a new, blank drive - should you need or wish to upgrade to a new hard drive in the future.
You can, of course, also order Recovery DVDs directly from HP for most models. The price is considerably less than purchasing a Windows license retail. Much less.

My question: Is the TouchSmart tm2 compatible with WIN 10 and what must be accomplished to achieve a successful install? First, a slignt rant.I was successfuly running WIN 10 on my TouchSmart tm2 when I updated a video driver and afterwards could only get a blank screen. Yes, my bad! I paid HP $99 for incident support and their only suggestion was to do a full system recovery & reinstall WIN 7 Pro. Really? You made me pay for that? Since I didn't have the OS disks (it was OEM) I had to pay HP $25 for the media and $15 FOR SECOND DAY DELIVERY ONLY TO HAVE THE MEDIA ARRIVE ON DAY 3. I can't reach anyone at HP to refund the delivery failure. Now support is stating that my computer isn't compatible with WIN 10. If I was successfully running WIN 10, why is it now un compatable?

ok guys i really need some help/guidance here. There is so much infomation here that im sincerely overwhelmed... I will give you as much information as I have and hope SOMEONE can help! First, I hope i selected the correct board to write this in. As stated, I have a pavilion touchsmart23 all in one pc. I am NOT at ALL computer saavy so work with me here. I dont know if its 32 bit or not nor do I know if it is imperative to my issue. Here is my problem. My computer works fine 70% of the time. Suddenly the screen will go black and give me a disk boot error message. I cant remember word for word but this is what it saYS: "no boot disk has been detected or boot disk has failed". When this happenes, I have to disconnect the computer from the wall and reconnect and start over. This always fixes it so it leads me to believe it is some sort of glitch. I called HP and they told me to run a system quick and extensive check on the hard drive which i have done. Both passed and no errors reported. Another thing that will happen is that the screen will go dark, (typically after idling and when i return and move the mouse or type on keyboard, the screen never lights up again as its supposed to when it is no longer idling. It stays VERY dark and I can barely makeout the screen. I am not sure why this is happening nor do I know what steps to take from here. moved house recently, hooked the computer back up in the new office and the wireless keyboard worked for about 2 minutes. I changed the batteries but to no avail. Went and bought brand new batteries and again no go but the wireless mouse is still working fine. I have tried the blue connect button on the back of the keyboard but still nothing. I have been dealing with a broken home on my laptop for more than a year. I just searched these forums and found ~70 posts all with the same issue. This seems to be due to poor design that never should have made it past the quality assurance engineers, having a metal hinge screwed into non-reinforced plastic. I find it reprehensible that a premium laptop was made so poorly. I am told by local PC repair shops that it will cost me $400+ to get this fixed. That's 1/3 what I paid for the machine in the first place.I tried calling support and was directed to log onto the support site for assistance, from which I was directed to search the forums. I thought HP made better products than this, but hadn't wanted to put up the money to get one to find out. Then I bit the bullet and got rewarded with a busted hinge on a laptop that spends its days being used by my wife at home, bring opened and closed 2-3 times per day. And now it seems like I'm going to get the runaround to get this fixed, or just have to trash an otherwise great machine due to crappy hinges. Does anyone here experience install Win XP Pro on HP touchsmart tx2(downgrade from Vista)? I need some advise. thank you.
I would advise you not to install XP on a touchsmart PC. The reasons are as follows.
1. Make sure all of the drivers are available on the HP Support website.
2. Since XP tablet edition is not available in retail, the touch screen won't work.
3. You will have ask HP to give you a OEM version of XP tablet edition (which I don't think they will provide).
If you just want to use it as a non-Touch screen PC. Go you may go ahead only after you have confirmed that the drivers are available.

In my quest to clean out a bunch of unused programs, I found that I have HP TouchSmart Recipe Box.
After researching about this, I decided it just might be something my wife could use; however, everything I have read about it says it is for HP TouchSmart computers.
My desk-top is HP but I don't think it is a TouchSmart.
My question is, must we have a TouchSmart computer to utilize the HP TouchSmart Recipe Box ?

Good Evening, I have a HP Touchsmart TM2-I can supply the specs if you need them- and it has just started to crash at almost every click/action which I take. THis has only happened within the last couple of days and it has been instant, rather than over time. I did a System Restore but this didn't solve the issue. It may ahve been because I had to stop a disk check last week because my laptop battery died but I'm not sure if that would have such a big effect on the laptops performance.

That would have a huge effect not finishing a disk check. If you can boot in, Make sure you have your power adapter attached, Go to Start/Search and type CMD Right click the CMD.exe icon in the Search Results and Run As Administrator. In the Command Prompt type chkdsk /R and press enter. Now type a Y and reboot the computer. The Check Disk Utility will try and fix any problems.3 more replies

Did your pc have working sound when new?
Check the volume level, it's easy to turn it right down or mute it.
Check if the speakers are selected by going to the speaker icon in tray near the current time.
Right click on speaker icon, choose 'playback devices'.
A new box appears, with a speaker and it should have a green tick over it.
Right click on the icon and choose the option 'test', you should hear audio tones.
If you don't have a green tick, right click on icon and choose 'enable'.
Hi, I need to purchase a new motherboard for my TouchSmart 610. I've opened up the computer and found that the motherboard installed in the computer is model number DA0ZN8MB6I0 (Part number 648511-001). While trying to find a place to purchase this mother board, I see that is motherboard is fairly expensive. While searhing I also found another motherboard, model number DA0ZN9MB6H0 (Part number 648512-001), which is also used in the TouchSmart 610. Visually this motherboard looks the same at the orignal motherboard and is significanly cheaper. The part numbers differ by only one digit (before the revisoin number, 001), which makes me think that the two motherboards are very similar. Does anyone know if these two motehrboard are compatiable/interchangeable? Where can I get information on the difference between these two motherboards? My motherboard has a built in video cards, does anyone know if the second motehrboard does as well? or will I need to purchase a seperate video card if I were to purchase that motherbaord? New Computer, that I need to send in, but for piece of mind, I would like to know what's going on. They will repair back to original state, but I will have to reload all programs. Want to make sure that it is not a conflict. Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate.

I recommend that you uninstall Zone Alarm using this uninstall tool: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cpes_clean.exe. ZA is a documented and well known cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. Make sure Windows Firewall is turned on.

My HP Touchsmart has never worked properly, Tons of problem, crashing error message etc etc. Computer was sent to HP for repair but it came back whit the same problem. I have spent hours with HP tech support running scan and making recovery with no succes. Recently I have replaced the hard drive on HP tech support recommendation. it worked for awhile but now it dosen't even boot! I don't want to call HP anymore and I wander if somebody can help me or if I should just give up.
Call HP and ask to talk to a manager, then explain what's happened and the number of times you called and that you've had to send it back and demand that they replace the computer with a new one. All-in-Ones are similar to laptops, the repairs are expensive and parts are hard to get, it's best to get the manufacturer to repair or replace it especially under the warranty.
So I have a question...I am wanting to upgrade my 4GB of RAM to 8GB of RAM. I know type I need but I don't know if I need to buy another 4GB Module or if I need to buy the 8GB kit...Do the RAM Module need to be the same brand or can they be different brands and work.

My mother bought one of these and the keyboard broke. So I'm using the touch pad.
Problem is the more peculiar buttons like Prnt Screen and Delete went missing.
They went missing for some unknown reason as I was typing.

I have a currently crippled HP touchsmart 300-1003. I replaced a dead hard drive with a new 1TB HDD. I have available to me 2 sets of touchsmart recovery disks, and Windows 7 Bootable USB drive (made with win7 tool). The official recovery CDs do absolutely nothing but tell me MBR IS MISSING PRESS CTRL ALT DEL TO RESTART. The bios lists my new HDD (can tell because size is now 1000GB). I cannot choose USB drive as first boot in bios or boot order (this pc has two different menus for the same function, idky). Is there a bootdisk I can use to fixmbr? Please be so kind to provide a guide to getting a touch computer running from the begininng. All the advice online seems to be for computers that will go to a recovery screen already. If I could do that I wouldn't need the disks, lol. I would like to install the touchsmart software but will settle for any windows at this point. Thanks in advance to anyone that is able to walk me through the process.1 Hour Later: To use MSWIN7 USB Tool, I had to ENABLE BOOT DIAGNOSTIC from BIOS, power on, let the black screen read Configured 01 usb drive, ctrlaltdel, f10 to bios again, disable boot diagnostic screen, save and continue f5, then hit ESC for tiny boot menu at the HP LOGO, pick USB 2.0 as first boot. The tool started windows as Repair (which I followed MSguide for bootsec and /fixmbr, no clue if that fixed mbr tho) and Install Windows 7. I picked install. More updates to come.
hi i would download a hdd utility from the maker of the harddrive ,burn it to cd ,usually instruction on ther sitr on how to do this ,to setup harddrive for first time use,it may just need to be formatted to create that mbr that seems to be missing .

If your system does not have those, then you would not be able to use the display on the All-in-One with your PS4. I've got a TouchSmart 610-1280qd desktop. It was working fine until 1 week ago when my home had a power outage. Now, it won't even boot up. No power, nothing. Even the power brick light is out. I bought a replacement power brick and when I plug it in, the green led light on the new brick(the old is blue) immediately goes out and there's still no power. The power button effects no response, nor does any button on the keyboard have any effect. There's just no power to the entire computer. I've tried plugging both the old and new power bricks in and initially, the blue and green lights on each respectively go on, until I plug them into the desktop. Then the lights go out and still no power and no response by pressing the power button or any button on the keyboard. I've also tried plugging in the old and new power bricks without the surge protector. The power bricks lights go on, but as soon as I plug them in, still no power. I've tried different outlets around my house and the power bricks lights go on, but as soon as I plug them into the desktop, no power. I've tried plugging he power bricks into the desktop first, then the outlets, and no power at all either in the desktop. There is no response at any stage where i've pressed the keyboards buttons. Hello! I have a TouchSmart 600--an all-in-one with several inputs except one for a second monitor. (On Windows 7). I purchased a VGA - HDMI (AV?) adapter hoping it might work.It did not.Asking for help, or a direction, please. I've searched through several different forum threads similar to mine, but the responses were several years old with no resolution besides perhaps I should have gotten a USB adapter. Hi, I just recently got an Envy All-in-One Touchsmart; it is a super machine and so far, so good. The 10-point touch is really cool, but there are many instances when I would like to be able to use a pen in order to be more precise in my pointing or to "mark up" a document. I know Microsoft Office has the "inking" feature because I use it on my Laptop with a "pen" while I am traveling and have found it invaluable -- and, by the way this laptop is both touch and pen enabled. I tried to enable "pen" by going to the Control Panel feature that is says says Pen and Touch, but when you do so, it is only for Touch. How can I make it so that it both touch and pen enabled? If that is all possible, what type of "pen" do I need? Thank you very much
Hi AIResnick, A stylus used on a capacitive touch screen basically just takes the place of your finger, so enabling touch on the computer will enable pen input as well. But it can't just be any pen or stylus, the material at the tip has to be something that will register as touch on the screen, and not scratch it. I read your other post and I understand you're looking for a finer-tipped stylus, rather than the ubiquitous blunt-ended, eraser-type stylus pens. That limits your options quite a bit, because I believe the larger surface area is part of what makes those pens work on capacitive screens. (Other types of touch screens can use other styles of stylus, including pointy-tipped ones in some cases.) I've heard good things about the Jot Pro from Adonit. I haven't tried it, so I can't speak from experience. The design seems clever--it looks like they attached a clear, flat disc to the tip of a metal pen, so you can see precisely where you're writing with the point of the pen, but the clear disc provides enough surface area for the touch to register, and prevents damage to your screen from the sharp pen point.
