New Spectre 12 x2 Detachable

Q: New Spectre 12 x2 Detachable

I am unable to get a definative answer from any one whether of not this new 12" (not the 13") model support an external monitor. Specs and screenshots show only USB-C ports. Is there another port? Can you attach one with an adaptor via the USB-C port? A support export said he saw an HDMI port, but I suspect he was looking at at the 13" Spectre.

Can any one suggest an external battery that can charge the Spectre X2 12" detachable via USB-C?

I too would also like to find an external battery pack and/or cable that can charge the x2. Although the Spectre x2 has relatively poor battery life, I was willing to purchase it as it charges via USB-C and I incorrectly assumed any high-power USB charger or external battery pack would charge it. I've tried a number of USB chargers and battery packs with a Belkin USB-A to USB-C charger cable and have had no luck charging the Spectre x2.

Does anyone know of an external battery pack that will work with the Spectre x2? I've tried 2 packs and various cables and nothing seems to work. I even wasted my time and bought the HP external battery that the HP support staff promised me would be compatible. Thx

Hi this is my first post. Had this 2 in one for about a week, replacing a 4 year old acer aspire one netbook D270 which had upgraded SSD and over 8 hr battery life. I dropped it and cracked the screen but it was a great little device I used all the time. There is a lot to like with this unit, but a few things are a little fustrating. 1) Lost thunderbird and opera from taskbar for no apparent reason. I pin something I expect it to stay.2) I keep on deleting the HP help from taskbar as it keeps on showing a massive ? on the task bar but no new info, but afrer reboot its back showing help but nothing new. I dont want it.3) Inconsistent when I undock screen, I loose all input on the touch screen? Dock it back all is fine. This cant be right.4) Open some webpages no touch screen?.5)  I Keep on loosing SD card, even during playing music, suddenly stops and no SD. Pop it out and it makes unmounts noise, pop it back in all is fine for a short time like 2 songs then stops again saying file can not be found. Replaced the SD card and same issues.Are these known issues or something with my device. Jas

I have just bought this lkaptop and the hardware is nice, but I do not want to run Windows. Simple, I thought, as it's a PC, I'll just install Ubuntu. Well, the boot from USB is UEFI and that is a bit of a pain to set up, and I can't get it to work. The Ubuntu 14 install disk I burnt is an EFI boot CD and it simply fails to boot. Using the F9 option I get aBoot device failed message in white text on a blue screen. When I try to boot through the boot menus I get a missing file at \ubuntu\winboot\. I have just created a Windows recovery disk and that seems to boot fine. It looks like the BIOS/UEFI is set up to only allow Windows to boot. I've bought a USB DVD drive and failed to boot from that, also two memory sticks and a HDD. So, questions, before I put the laptop in the bin: 1. Has anyone else got Linux onto this device and if so what image and procedure did you use to get the install to work? 2 Is there a way to get legacy mode booting set up in the BIOS (The BIOS mentions legacy support in the screens but its not there).  Andrew

It seems that the hp x2 has a 32 bit uefi. So you'll need a 32bit uefi boot loader. Most distros I've seen just ship the 64 bit bootloader. There's a guy at debian who is trying to support this kind of thing - He's working on a netinst image for deb8. Hi, I'm new to this forum, so please be gentle.

I'm a pretty technical guy, and have some experience with network design and implimentation, but I've been struggling with my current LAN project for months. Hopefully you guys can provide some guidance.

I have a vehicle with several computers on a wired LAN, which also has a wifi router so that I can connect to those computers with my laptop and tablet. I currently have the WAN port of the wifi router connected to a wifi range extender, which connects to my phone for internet connectivity (iPhone Personal Hotspot). Most of the network traffic is between the computers, so connection speed through the phone isn't very important.

However, when the vehicle is back at its "base" (my home), I need the mobile LAN to disconnect from my phone, and connect to my home LAN, so that all the computers in the vehicle can sync up with the NAS in my house. So far, the only way I've been able to do this is to force a disconnect from my phone, and force the mobile computers to use their own WiFi to connect to my home WiFi.

I have tried configuring one of my mobile computers to act as a router / bridge using a shared internet connection (Windows 10), but I just couldn't get it to work. I've also tried setting up a router in WiFi client mode, but couldn't get it to search for 2 different SSIDs.

Last night turned on to find it saying it was installing updates. Since then when turned on freezes but won't let me open or fix anything. Keep having to turn it off and on. No joy. Sometimes opens a blue screen. Message reads 'windows hasn't loaded correctly'. Option to reset won't work as says I need additional free space on the drive but can't open drive to do so. Start up repair can't diagnose a problem. Won't let me perform a system restore and won't let me create a restore point. Don't have a disc to use. Cannot open files or access internet on desktop. Completely stuck. Please help.

My device is 3 months old and I recently updated the BIOS through the HP assistant and am now receiving an error message close to 'CMOS checksum value is invalid. System will reboot with default values. Please check BIOS to see if any changes have occured (as close as I can remember)' System then boots OK. I am wondering what is causing this. Is the battery already dying? This has now happened three times in a week and also the clock is reseting itself to 05:00 everytime.

Laptop will not boot. It had booting problems from day 1 but I've always found a way for it to turn on. Now, nothing works. It has full power. Any suggestions? My new Pavilion x2 Detachable 12-b020nr will not boot. I've read manual at all. but I don't understand why my laptop does not boot... I checked some conditions.* AC adapter and battery light is white (Manual Page 8)* When I pressed power button, the Caps lock light fashes for one second (Manual Page 6)* press power button after keyboard unit deatached, but doesn't display anything* press power button with attach usb flash memory, usb flashes 2 times But my laptop doesn't show anything (even HP logo) in any situation.. Should I try something else?

I want to help you resolve this issue. When the Caps lock button flashes for one second, does it continue in a cycle or does the notebook shut off on it's own?If the notebook shuts off on it's on, does it turn itself back on and off in a cycle? Please begin with a hard reset. When I try to turn on the tablet the on botton shows like is on but the screen remains black at all atimes. It does looks like its charging when I plug the charger just fine. But it does not makes any sound or have shows any picture. Thanks in advance.  P.S It havent been dropped is 6 months old.

Hello HP Team & Community, I've been using this laptop for about half a year now, never had a problem with the detachable keyboard before. I think it was even charging correctly before when I first installed Ubuntu on the machine. After that, I started trying out differet Linux OS's but came back to Ubuntu in the end. My issue is that the keyboard is not charging anymore, rendering it useless. I attach it to the laptop but the little orange light doesn't come on. I've looked over some other issues regarding the keyboard not working, the replies from the HP Team varied, and none of them specifically addressed Linux users having the issue... My guess is that I'm missing a driver for the keyboard... Is there any way to confirm this? Does HP have an Ubuntu equivalent of the HP Assistant? I'd really like to start using the keyboard again. I already tried asking at askubuntu.com - I received no answers. Hopefully, I'll find better luck here.

Hi, Just bought a HP Pavilion x2 - 10-j000na (ENERGY STAR) which arrived 2 days ago. Has been working fine - and battery charge was about halfway down. Had no problems until this evening when I'm getting no response whatsoever from it. Tried plugging it in with the adaptor, and also starting it on just battery power - but screen remains black, no lights, nothing. Any clues?? :/ Thanks.

I bought this at the end of August, as something to use when I was away from home. Took it away in Sept, all worked fine, til one day I tried to turn it on and it wouldn't. Eventually got it to work by holding down the power key. Now it's intermittent: sometimes works fine, sometimes takes repeated attempts, sometimes I have to hold it down and get the CMOS message. Any ideas how to fix this?

My HP ENVY 15-c001dx x2 Detachable was 22 days past one year when we had to replace the mother board. Now 4 weeks later the tablet no longer recognizes the keyboard, nor will it connect to our internet. Is this computer now nothing more than a door stop? We paid $600 and have spent $350 on it already. Very dissatisfied customer.

We bought brand new - and pluged in to charge and we can't get the PC / Tablet to turn on?  We have connected to the AC Power cord...we have unconnected all items and charged for 30 mins and still nothing.What are we missing??

The HP ENVY x2 Detachable PC 15 will no turn on. Holding the Power button for 10 seconds produces a whirring sound but does not turn the tablet back on. The AC adapter light is white when the power cord is turned on. The Power Light on the opposite side is off. What else can I try?

Hi there @bfeliciano86,  Before I provide troubleshooting documentation, I would like to take a minute to welcome you to the HP Support Community, where you can ask questions, find solutions and get help from others! I will do my absolute best to help you resolve the issue you are having with the black screen on your HP Pavilion x2 Notebook PC.  Note: please make sure that the AC adapter cable is not plugged into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source. It should be directly into a wall outlet. Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues. As silly as it sounds, did you happen to try removing dust from the cooling areas in a notebook?Have you connected the Notebook to an external monitor or TV? If you remove the notebook battery, plug the AC power cable back into the notebook, then turn it on, does it power the Notebook? Do you have any beep codes or blinking LED lights? Have you done a BIOS reset?Have you tried performing a hard reset?Have you tried to see if you can test for hardware failures? If the computer is on, do you hear the fan running? My keyboard suddenly stopped working today, i checked the bluetooth connection it was okay but the keyboard wasn't working. Everytime i try to press anything the light over the bluetooth key turns on and off, and the on/off light of the keyboard is always off until i attach it to the screen it stays on for a minute or so and then back off. Also tried pressing the bluetooth key for a bit longer it starts lighting on and off but the keyboard doesn't actually work.

I have searched across this site and other forums and have yet to find a solid answer to this question even though numerous users are having the same issue. This keyboard has worked fine for me for about two years, but now all of a sudden it will not hold a charge.  Even after turning the keyboard off, plugging into the tablet for 24 hours, and then turning back on, the keyboard only works for about five minutes.   I can only assume that this is an issue with the power going from the tablet to the keyboard, but when trying to update any drivers related to batteries or the keyboard it says I already have the latest driver.  Please help because I'm essentially stuck with only using a tablet for a computer as of right now.

I just bought this computer/tablet and have had it for 2 days. It started up right away and worked fine. Later in the day, I went to use it, I was able to sign on, but then the screen went black - still plugged in. The next day, it started up just fine and I was able to sign on and use the machine, but later in the day the same thing happened - able to sign on but got a black screen. Today, I have tried numerous times and was able to actually get a screen once and tried to troubleshoot on the HP website and my browser shut down and I have not been able use it since - still able to sign on but always get a black screen. I have shut down and restarted numerous times.I really would like to be able to use this machine, but it doesn't appear too promising.Thank you.

I am suffering from cache manager errors and windows bluscreen and rebooting. This is only 2 weeks old.Drivers updated and windows updated. which is a manual pain to do. Please advise. I still have not received an answer to previous message on getting any SD card to stay mounted, it simply vanishes but when I pull the sd card windows chirps unmount sound.Massive issues with both grove player and wmp trying to keep playing from SD card after 1 song it looses the sd card, and songs, ave different error codes from legcy to headers, no issues playing form any other windows 7 or windows 10 devices justthis oneEven a usb HD have issues with. Now BSD. I think the unit is just underpowered to surf the web while playing a song, if so it will be going back as unfit and full refund.

Recently I downloaded the new Windows 8. In the past I have been able with no problem to transfer songs etc. to my phone disk which is plugged into my "Removable Disk F". Now when I try it, it says " The disk is write protected. Remove the write-protection or use another disk". I never got this before and some of the same songs that I have already tranferred in the past will not tranfer now. Any idea what I need to do to solve this? Thanks for the help.

Hello, We have a HP Envy x2 Detachable PC 15 and the keyboard is not charging. There is no driver issue, all of them are up to date and the laptop holds charge just fine. No issue with the cord, nor anything. There is a Win 10 on the notebookM/N 15-c001dxP/N J9J38UA#ABAS/N 5CG4450JNV Keyboard P/N 783099-001M/N KBBT9881 Is there a way to fix this issue.

Hi, Following the failure of the free upgrade process to Windows 10 on my Hp Pavilion x2 Detachable 10-n002ns, I have been trying to restore from a USB boot media (16Gb Sandisk USB key) created with the Windows Media Creation Tool (on another machine) I have been unable to get the Hp Pavilion x2 Detachable 10-n002ns to boot from any other media at all: I have tried:both DVD media and USB media, made with a variety of tools on both Windows (Windows Media Creation Tool, Rufus, LiLi) and Linux (Brasero, UNetBootIn, dd, Linux Mint USB Image Writer)Creating bootable media with settings for MBR and GPT partitions, for UEFI or regular BIOS.Booting to a variety of Ubuntu variant Live CDs (in order to check it wasn't just a problem with Windows)Secure Boot enabled (when booting Windows media) and Secure Boot disabled (when booting Linux)All variations of Boot Order in the BIOS.As you can see in the image, there is no Legacy Boot option in the BIOS, and I have been unable to get any media to boot at all. Since the failed Win 10 update, the computer is now unusable. Product Number is N3W80EQ#ABEBIOS version is F.04 (I downloaded BIOS version F.05 from the HP website but was unable to get a FreeDOS bootable disk to be recognised) I'm fairly sure there is a problem with the BIOS and UEFI boot. hi.. i bought  the xps 12 before two months ago and this is the first time I face this problem it's suddenly can't detected from the tablet i did every thing i know  and no thing after 24 hour and when I went to sleep detached the tablet and it's worked!?  i don't know how but it's worked and after 12 hour still working until suddenly the window 10 Freeze and that force my to restart it with power button after that the keyboard didn't work
i did every think updating the drivers with latest update from dell and the window with latest update too
and i tried to uninstall the drivers from device manager with restart nothing had changed
i even rest my PC and bios and still not working
should to mention the keyboard no worked even in UEFI menu

Hi, I am having issues with my micro SD card vanishing.  Purchased end of May and spend so many hours trying everything thinking it was me. I have never had any issues with my SD cards in either HTC one phone or a Acer aspire one, which I broke its screen in May reason for the purchase. My acer I pimped it with 250gb SSD and 2 GB and had no real issues, had enough space for most of my 36GB music and had a external USB HD for films and more music.  Now I am getting so fustrated trying to play a few albums form SD. I had to play from my phone last month when I was on holiday as this device cant keep the SD mounted. WHy have B+O when you cant play anything.  At the moment  Tried1) numerous SD cards 32 to 128GB 2) Deleting the SD card driver and installing3) Installing all the newest drivers on the HP website.4) Upgraded bios to F.115) Undertaking a factory reset.6) Sending it back to PC world for repair and lost the unit for a week and its the same. Just got a new one (thank you PC world for offering the exchange when its over 21 days) and this unit has just done the same, my SD card vanished. Its gone from grove player, windows media player and file explorer. If I take the SD card out the unit plays the unmount sound, so its there but windows simply looses it. Basically I go to switch the tablet on and the power button lights up but that's it the screen doesn't even light up nothing and occassionally a light flashes from the top on the screen in the middle but that's it I've tried resetting it everything please help I bought it for uni and I start in a few days

Had an issue with my detachable keyboard losing bluetooth connection.  I then noticed when I would lose this connection and go to the device manager the bluetooth adapter would not show up.  This drove me nuts because it was not always happening at any specific time but randomly.  I would have to reboot a couple of times for it to come back then all would be good until the next time.  After almost two months of this I started to catch on that it would mainly do this when I was on battery power and when I hooked up to the power cord and reboot all would be fine.  I finally found the resolution on a Lenovo web site that has cured this issue.  Haven't lost connection yet and I have even tried to make it lose connection short of shutting it off. 1) Go to the Device Manager (Windows key + X)2) Select Bluetooth and right click on your Bluetooth adapter (mine was Intel Wireless Bluetooth (R) 4.0).3) Select Power Management tab.4) Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off device to save Power."5) Click on OK I tried finding this on the hp.com site but never did so it would be nice if they would post it because I am sure others are having this issue on battery power.  Mine would almost instantly lose connection as soon as I unplugged from power and went to battery power so no doubt I am not the only one with this issue.

Had this laptop for about 4 months, only use it for writing using Word, we don't store photos, music etc.  All we have are word documents and the only things we installed are Bitdefender and Office. This laptop has a 30gb hard drive as standard but we bought the one from HP that also has an additional 1TB drive.  Despite telling the system to save and install all things to the larger drive, the smaller one is constantly getting full and not letting us do anything.  When we go in to storage and try to delete all the temp files (about 3gb) it just sits there and doesn't delete anything. Anyone else had this issue?  Or does anyone know how to free up the smaller drive and get it to use the bigger one?  Like I said before, everything is set up in the system options to save to the large drive.  Am I missing something?

Beautiful designed machine. But, runs like a ?banger? Had this for a few weeks and the cooling fan runs continuously. Camera doesn?t work. HP support simply refers to a  ?support Company". They don't have any information about repair status. No willingness to replace a unit that cost in excess of £1K. Now being advised by text that we are waiting on parts! This is not a good company to deal with. Buy a Mac and save yourself a heap of trouble.

I bought my son a new HP Spectre 360 in June and now it doesn't seem to charge/ switch on. According to my son the white light comes on to show it is charged but nothing happens when he tries to turn it on. Hi, i have a problem with boot of my notebook: When i press Power button, when my notebook already power on, it goes to lockup mode and i can`t turn on it for  2-3 hours. Power button blinking, but by pressing on it- nothing happens(notebook can`t power on, just blinking power button, than like in 2-3 hours power button stop blinking, and only than i can power on my notebook, it repeats only when i press power button when notebook power on). Hi Folks I wonder if anyone can tell me when HP will be releasing a 1tb SSD version of the 4k Spectre in the UK. I want one of these devices but cannot understand why they will not ship one with a decent sized SSD. I have the cash burring a hole in my pocket but cannot justify the spend if the SSD is only 512gb. I don't want to invalidate my warranty by upgrading myself, so why will HP not release one instead? Any thoughts? I have two issues with the display on my Spectre. 1. The autorotate feature is not terribly reliable. Many times when I first turn the machine on, the screen will be upside down (occurs in both tent mode and laptop mode). To fix it, I have to put it in tablet mode and turn it a few times until autorotate triggers and fixes the orientation. The autorotate will not correct itself simply by flipping it in laptop mode. 2. The cursor randomly jumps to the bottom center of the screen. It does this using a mouse, digitizer pen and track pad. I have tried updating the driver for the digitizer, but that did not correct the isssue.

i purchased the newly released HP Spectre Notebook this week.  I am having issues with the battery so i went to hp software and driver download support and selected find my device.  I then received a message stating that my laptop is a retired product and support services for it no longer exist.  I also ran sfc /scannow in windows 10 and received a message that i have corrupt files that cannot be repaired.  Upon further investigation, of sfc text file, i found the errors only pertain to certain wav files.  How would this affect battery life? by the way, i did a fresh install of the operating system per microsoft tech and the above issues still were present. not sure what else to include so let me know. thanks in advance for your help.

I purchased Spectre x2 a001dx at bestbuy online. It states ready for verizon 4g lte on the packaging.But when buying it, it was described as unactivated device.So I'd like to use it on other carriers, not verizon.Is it possible ? Hp support assistant does not post upgrades or messages.  I have turned off the fire wall.  It begins to download from the HP servers and the stops after 15 seconds.  I have reinstalled HP support assistant  after deleting the program.  No improvement.  I have to go on the HP software site to download any relevant updates.  Any suggestions ?

I am not 100% sure but I suspect there is an issue with the link between the HP Support Assistant and HP... There have been a few issues posted over the last week, me included..  I reinstalled mine and it seemed to work, found 6 updates and 3 messages ... I have not done any of the updates but they have now all disappeared..  If I click on "ABOUT" at the top it tells me I have outstanding updates...  Very strange that so many have reported issues over the last week, not sure if there is a link between the application on the notebook and the HP servers, i.e a display for them...  Stuart

My sons HP Spectra X2 is having issues booting.  It starts loading, the HP logo appears and then it stops and the speakers make a short screeching sound.  I have tried using F11 and resetting but it seels no matter what option I chose, the operation fails and can not complete the reinstall.Curioius if anyone else has had this issue and how they were able to fix it?Thanks

I bought 2 Specter x360s for our organization and the first had a motherboard issue that renders it dead. It was fixed under warranty and the second failed the same way 2 weeks after the warranty. We are overseas and it is very difficult to call and communicate with support. Hp is not willing to honor the warranty even when we proved that the other was defective. Now they are telling me I must buy a "global warranty" and wait a month to register and put in a claim.  This is very sad. What is worse is that customer support did not provide a link or a part number or any way to purchase the extended warranty which they claim in on the main site.  Reading through the extended warranties, none say anything about being global. I still think that HP should honor the original warranty but if anyone knows about this global warranty, where to buy it, is it worth it, experieces, that would be appreciated. Otherwise I have a very EXPENSIVE Specter x360 doorstop. Thank you.

Was about to buy Spectre x360 13" with i7, 512 GB etc and FHD screen but HP ran out of stock and now only seem to have QHD with this spec. Am a little worried about scaling issues with QHD. Am mainly using Office 2013, Outlook, Adobe PDFs, Google Drive, Photoshop, Norton. Would these programmes have scaling issues ? Are HP restocking with FHD screens or are they now out ? The US have a Spectre x360 13t  with FHD and I can't understand why HP UK don't sell this model.  Can anyone advise ?

Hi, I think all high end Spectre x360 machines now have QHD or UHD therefore you have to movw down to lower specs which has only 128GB or 256GB of storage. Many machines in the US market won't be available in other countries specially CTO machines. I don't think HP Stores will restock older machines. Regards.

I just spent 1 hour on HP support trying to get my LCD screen fixed under warranty only to be told at the end it would take 9 business days and cost $450. My laptop is only 5 months old and under warranty until March 2017. I told them that if I didn't have my laptop for 2 weeks I would not be able to work and I would get fired. They said it was my choice. How is it under warranty if it costs $450? Does anyone have experience in getting this repaired under warranty in a timely manner?

Hi, 9 days, that's quick. I don't think they can do better than that. For the cost, I always say: warranty is a grey/gray area and did you buy warranty to cover damages ? If no then any repairer can charge you if you won't be able to prove that was a factory fault. Regards.

Hi, I bought my laptop HP Spectre 3 months ago.Today, I was doing some Excel and the touchpad stopped functionning. I had to switch it off manually and wen I try to restart it switches on. But when I want to unlock my session I tap the code and a message appears "this laptop has been locked for security reasons. Charge it for 2 hours and try to restart." That is what I did, but the same message still appears and I cannot get to my session. why is it locked like this ? What can I do ? ?01-27-2016 09:53 AM         I am adding my Spectre x360 failure to the list as well.Computer was purchased in September 2015. I am working as Software Quality Engineer. My machine died today and now my Spectre without any signs of life. Indicator light does not showing it is charging and power button does not reacting when pressing it ON. I paid 1700$ for laptop and now HP asking additional 370$ to fix it. Can't believe it is happening in USA with respective company such as HP.         Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard would be very disappointed with this kind of business management and lack of social responsibility.  I have Toshiba purchased in 2006 and it works just fine till now. It is shame that Hawlet-Packard can't fix the problem and refuse accept the lack of hardware or software quality but charging us to clean their own mass.

What stylus works with the HP Spectre 360?  I was told by HP reseller for parts that it's HP Active Pen part 773175-005 which is very very expensive because it is to be obselete and there are not other stylus that will work with this Laptop model?????? RE: HP Spectre 13-4193dx I have an HP REvolve 810 G3 with only 1366x 769 resolution.I cannot use my USB external Bluray player with this so I am considering a new laptop that will display full HD content in this manner.Can anyone tell me if they have an HP Spectre 13-4193dx with which they have successfully watch blu-ray movies in full HD without any downgrade in the display.I know the screen resolution is correct for this at (2560 x 1440) but  I am  concerned with the graphics display controllers, etc. I can only see that it has Intel® HD Graphics 520...is this fully compatible with blu-ray playback?

My Spectre is less than a year old. I bought it in the UK but I live and work in SE Asia. I was using it this morning and plugged in the mains adapter. About a minute later it made a spluttering noise and died. Since then it will not turn on. This is an expensive machine. Suggestions please! Looking at other people's experiences with HP support makes me less than optimistic.

I was wondering how much it would cost to repair the screen on my HP Spectre. The screen is 13.3"  (or something around there) it has a small crack in the bottom left hand corner, and I was just needing a rough cost and how to put my computer into repair of the price is right. Hi the upper half of my spectre gets extremely hot . I just noticed that when I put it on my lap today.What is the recommended way to use this. Should I turn it off when I put it away ? Do I have to shut down from the pc or can I just power down from the power switch.great laptop but I'm worried it will overheat. Hi, Two Questions Wifi:I have a Spectre X2 Detachable and the Wifi is unable to connect to my Mobile Phone's Hotspot. This is a Samsung S5 - so a pretty mainstream phone - and it works with my other devices.The Wifi will also sometimes be non-responsive and won't show a list of available networks. When the Spectre connects to the Mobile Hotspot it shows solid connection but no internet, on the S5 I can see it sees the Spectre "flickering" as connected or not. I have tried disabling Security on the network entirely, this doesn't help. I'm a consultant, so I'm often using my laptop in front of clients so this bug is rendering this device unusable for me - and embarrassing as well. What is the issue and how do I fix this? Charging:While I'm here, I have a USB-C Multiport adaptor (HDMI/USB-A/Power(USB-C))  when I use this device with my HP charger it doesn't work, as in everything is disabled. If I don't plug in the HP charger the HDMI and USB all work perfectly. When will HP be releasing an update to resolve this issue with charging? Thanks, Bob

Hi, my spectre x360 just out of warranty and will no longer charge the battery! Charger checked and working. When plugged into laptop, symbol appears to show connection but then states not charging. Battery nearly flat now but diagnostics state batter condition ok. Would appreciate any ideas to resolve please but I am not considered computer literate just general working knowledge!

Hello, just bought Spectre x2, and in my Win10 settings the Windows hello setup function is missing. So does it it mean my Spectre IS NOT windows Hello friendly? That function was part of the official product descriptions, so I would like to have it. I bought product in good spanish shop. Might there be such a difference in specification by market? New owner of HP Spectre x360 - 13-4003dx here. I want to ask if the bottom of the laptop, the area above the fan openings where the FCC info/text lies, is supposed to creak when I press it slightly. I first heard this noise when I took my laptop out of the sleeve and held that area. At first I thought it was just rubbing against the sleeve, but after further examination, that is not the case. If this occurs with other models of the Spectre, it is a bad build quality, I am not sure which component is under there, but I want to know if the creaking noise is normal with only a slight press along the text area. Thanks.

Hello Hopefully I can get some answers on here. My laptop keeps trying to rotate to tablet mode when i  am using it in normal mode. And since this happeneing the physcial keyboard will flash and stop typing for a moment. I called Hp first to help fix it but they reinstalled my bios and then it happened literally right after I hung up the phone so i took it to best buy and they replaced the motherboard, then when i got it back it wouldn't charge so I took back one more time and they said they replace the motherboard AGAIN and it is still trying to autorotate to tablet mode. The locked button is grayed out so I can't do anything to do, but when it rotates the button turns on and off by itself. The tablet mode is at the don't switch and don't ask prompt. When is at the always ask me before switching I get a prompt asking to switch like every five mins it seems. Please help! it is very frustrating. i am also using windows ten.Thank you!

Hi all , i have an hp spectre product and its been 9 months since i bought it , i have a problem with the display.I don't have a specific description for the situation, but the liquid in my LED Touch Display keeps flowing in the screen's corners when i rotate the lid to a diffrent angle but it doesn't flicker and also when i apply pressure on the corner of the display it keep doing the same.Any ideas ?

Yesterday my HP Spectre was working. Today, laptop won't turn on at all. It is completely dead and won't turn on despite power cord being plugged in. Spent over $1400 at Best Buy in May of 2015 thinking I was investing in a high end laptop that would last me years. Called HP support after reading the hundreds of other posts about this problem and now have to pay an additional $320 to get computer fixed bc I am out of warranty period! They only give a 90 day warranty after it is fixed and I am now worried the Spectre is a "lemon" and will have to eventually buy a replacement. It seems this issue is not isolated, but rather an inherent design flaw as many people have expressed they had a similar issue. You would think a company like HP wold want to keep its customers happy and repair the laptop at a minimal to no cost to its customers. Was a loyal Hp customer but not anymore! Total investment I'm this laptop is now over $1700! Not a happy camper.

Just recently whenever I try to turn my HP Spectre X2 Detachable on after shutting it down, it won't turn on. The F6 Mute button has the light on, suggesting that the device could be on, but the screen isn't. To turn the device on, I have to hold down the power button until the F6 Mute light goes off, as if it has been force shut down, and then press the power button again to start the device up. Has anyone got any idea what could be causing this problem or how I could go about fixing it? Thanks in advance.

How should one download google chrome in HP SPECTRE 13-v010TU?

Use the Edge browser.  In the where to next box or the URL address box type in Google Chrome.  That will open the Bing search which will display a number of Google Chrome download options. Select the Download Google chrome- Google Chrome Click on the download Chrome button to begin the download and click on the accept and install button. That's it!.

Hello, Last winter purchased a convertible lenovo laptop. The first one had faulty hinges, I had it replaced on the same day I brought it in and the second one had faulty hinges and a faulty touchpad. So, I decided to ditch the cheaper computers and splurged on a HP spectre x360 from Best Buy. I live 200 kilometres away from large retail stores like this so getting back and forth is quite difficult, Staples was very understanding about the Lenovo laptops, however Best Buy told me there was nothing I could do when I described the problems I was having with my brand new HP. Several months went by and I avoided using the computer as much as possible in order to avoid facing the mistake I made in purchasing it. Eventually, my old computer became completely obsolete and I had no choice but use this HP.  My problems were not limited in any way. They ranged from an extremely annoying touchpad that sounded loose and made strange noises, the fact that the screen was closing on an odd angle, and the fact the the screen could barely stay open. A slight touch or even shifting the laptop would cause the screen to move. I could forgive these flaws if I had abused this computer or if it had received heavy usage, however I barely even turned the thing on. Hi, I bought my laptop HP Spectre 3 months ago.Today, I was doing some Excel and the touchpad stopped functionning. I had to switch it off manually and wen I try to restart it switches on. But when I want to unlock my session I tap the code and a message appears "this laptop has been locked for security reasons. Charge it for 2 hours and try to restart." That is what I did, but the same message still appears and I cannot get to my session. why is it locked like this ? What can I do ? My son uses the HP Spectre, its only a couple of months old.  He reported that there are times it would not wake up unless attached to power, even if it would have plenty of charge.  I was using it yesterday and the top detatched accidently and slipped off backwards receiving a small knock, the screen blanked.  It will not power on at all now, even when attached to power overnight.
