Hi all,

We have database files hosted on an intranet that get downloaded as needed. When the link is clicked we get a box asking what we want to do (open, save, save as), we then click Open and Internet Explorer 11 then proceeds to download & open the file.
That all works fine.
However once it is finished downloading an orange box will popup at the bottom of IE that says "*filename*.mdb couldn't be downloaded."... even though it did download and open it.
What's going on here?

Cheers!

I have a single Windows 7 computer among maybe 40 on the network that has this problem: when I try to download any report from our payroll provider from the provider's website, I get a [Filename] couldn't be downloaded message.
Occasionally, when I log on as a system admin, I can get it to download a file once or twice, but every time the user tries it, we get the "...couldn't be downloaded" message.

This is independent of the target location on the hard drive: user's' Downloads folder, Desktop, etc. Same thing happens either way. There is nothing logged in the Windows event logs.It is independent of the logged-on user ID (this is on a Windows domain). The same thing happens with end-user logon and with domain admin logon.Removed & re-created user profile. No change.Removed & then re-added IE11 to Windows features. No change.Already disabled Windows firewall. No change.Removed older versions of Flash & Java; updated both. No change.Under admin account, cleared IE temporary files. No change. No need to do this for the user account, since I just dropped & re-created the user profile from scratch. No change. It seems to also be site-specific. I can download other things from other sites, and I can download this site's files from other computers. But this one computer has problems with downloading this one site's files. When I click Retry on the failure, it puts the temporary HTML file onto the desktop but never gets around to actually finishing th... Anytime I try to download a file using Internet Explorer 10 I get the message "<file> couldn't be downloaded" where <file> is anything I try to download.  The problem does not occur if I use Firefox.

Sometimes these files are downloaded into the Downloads folder, sometimes not. I think there may be a virus lurking but have not been able to locate it. I think I had a zeroaccess rootlit but not sure if it is totally eliminated. Suggestions?

Experienced this on vista/7 x86/x64

A:How to fix "program couldn't be downloaded" in IE after removing infections?

FYI works in other profiles, not just the one that was originally infected... so it's some sort of registry key issue for currentuser

My thread is related to BSODs and I know that there is a BSOD section of its own, but my computer is constantly having software issues.
I should add that my brand new harddrive has a windows 7 upgrade copy installed onto it, one that I bought from a Univ. bookstore.

Here are a couple things I've already done.
- SFC more than 3 times at a time.
- Repair install, with and without compatibility (VistaSP2)
- Clean install with formatting via advanced options
- Check for windows updates, and install every important one.
- BlueScreenViewer always told me that ntoskrnl.exe was at fault, whenever it did occur.
*Important* SFC always finds corrupt files, but the files themselves fix themselves, and new corrupt files arise.
At one point, I had my computer find no violations for a couple of days, and I haven't had a bsod since, but I did click shut down with google chrome and skype up, and my computer shut down properly, but when I booted my computer back up, google chrome was having problems getting past the "Aw, Snap" part, and there were other corrupt files that had risen as well.

I'm currently using the computer that has the problems.

Hoping for replies,

A:SFC couldn't fix my computer

Hello etsnsm Welcome to the Seven Forums!

The problems you are running into could be from two different sources other then Windows/software related. The first and obvious would be a problem with the new drive while not as likely being new but bad sectors or other defect.

The second to consider would be bad ram! If you have a bad dimm in there that will cause an endless list of problems to appear especially when appearing right after a clean install of the OS. I would suggest a good run of the memtest memory stress tester for several 4-5 hours to see the series of tests repeat over and over again which will point out any critical errors with the memory installed on the system there.

A bad install of Windows from bad ram or simply not a complete install is also a known cause for seeing too many problems right away. Again that could be as a result of a possible defect with the new drive, memory, or even worst case both! Or you may have simply had a bad install where a lens cleaner for the optical drive or handling of the 7 disk left finger marks?

These are the more common places to start.

please help me!!

A:couldn't uninstall

That means that the Uninstall log in the program file for the program is missing. If you have problems uninstalling programs use the Revo Uninstaller. It will first try the uninstaller and when that fails it will continue to uninstall the rest of the program. Be sure to do the Advanced method to remove the Registry settings as well.

A:HJT log. Many viruses I couldn't get rid of

Hi MexicanHat, Welcome to TSF

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/CleanUp.exe ) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. I believe that I have this little issue solved but I'd like some advice to make sure there isn't problem lurking.

I've been having a problem with Win 10 getting corrupted. Making a long story less long, I've replaced my SSD with a new one and did a fresh install of Windows.

After the reinstall, I could see the SSD as drive C: in File Explorer but couldn't see my HDD which used to be drive D: prior to the replacement. The USB ports were labeled D:, E:, etc.

To fix this, I went into Disk Management and changed the drive letter of the USB drive D: to drive I:. Then, I labeled the HDD as Drive D:.

This worked but I got a message from Windows (lower right corner) asking what to do when the "removable drive D: was loaded".

The HDD obviously isn't a removable drive but it seems to work as it should.

Have I done the right thing or do I have a problem lurking?

A:Couldn't see HDD after SSD reinstallation

My issue seems to be resolved.

I did have a problem with the D: HDD and the more things that I did in attempt to resolve it, the worse it became.

In the end, did another fresh install of Windows in the new SSD and formatted the D: drive in the process. (I had a good backup of the data on my HDD)

Hello guys , im sorry for being a burden. Im not sure if im messing up with the regedit or %temp% or temp. Earlier, Im searching for unused registry from previous uninstalled softwares in order to speed up my pc. And also clearing the %temp% & temp folders. Then suddenly a window popped up and it says:-
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error - Assertion Failed".
There is 3 options to choose, abort, debug and ignore. For the 1st time it popped up , i clicked on the debug option and for 2nd time i clicked on abort. After that i immediately reboot the pc.
After rebooting , i was shocked because i can't read anything displayed on the screen. The font changed to squares, triangles, question marks , circles , etc.
Kindly you guys could help me regarding this problem. I would attach the font pictures for you guys to refer. Please help me , thank you very much.

Hard drives are sized in "decimal gigabytes", Windows reports in Binary.

An 80 GB HDD is about 74 - 75 GB in binary. (80/1.024/1.024/1.024)

Okay, followed the instructions in the Prep Guide, starting at step 6. Ran DeFogger, appears nothing was running. Went to step 7, had a few issues: file downloaded as a AutoCAD file type, and the icon doesn't look like the one in the guide. When I try to run dds.scr, a Notepad file opens with this statement "This program cannot be run in DOS mode." and a bunch of PS garbage. Tried downloading it again and rerunning, same results. I attached the notepad file. Went to step 8, downloaded GMER no problem, but how long should it take to run? I ran it for several hours on Friday, it never finished. Had to stop it to do some work, then set it to run over the weekend, but something must have restarted my PC because this morning I had to log back in. I'll try to run it again, but it's a pain because I quit all other apps while running, so I can't do anything all day. Should I be running this in Safe Mode? Just wanted to let you know where I stand with this. Thanks!BrianUPDATE! Took over 7 hours, but GMER scan completed. Kaspersky Lab's cybersecurity blog Threatpost focused this week on the booming malware economy and highlighted the features of one particular kit called Adrenalin as an example of the sophistication of the criminal business underworld. Roy Firestein, a security consultant at Digital Defence and a malware expert, said the tool kit "sells for $3,500 right now and can be customized to suit the needs of even the most demanding attacker," according to Threatpost. "Adrenalin includes 24x7 technical support, built-in exploits, the ability to steal digital certificates and the option to encrypt the stolen data."Seriously? Tech support? I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I imagine malware phone operators standing by.Above quote from SFGate article by Alejandro Mart?nez-Cabrera Thursday, October 8, 2009 quoted in entirety from here.

A:Just when you thought it couldn't get worse

You know something.... it's truly amazing that people can come up with programs like this that sell for $3500, have 24x7 tech support and they have only one intention. Theft. Extortion. Malicious Acts.

What is the world coming to when people have to resort to creating a program like this to do harm when their coding and programming abilities would much more useful pointed in another direction.

Once that was done I got that error message above .

sleep mode error it seems, big issue over at microsoft support right now.  This stems from two things.
1.  before the update the drivers and programs were not updated to the newest ones.  Or Nivia or Intel was not updated before the upgrade.
2.  You computer issued a sleep command during the install and broken your computer.

Lets see what is what.
1.  First off did you update all the BIOS (if needed and either Intell or Nivdia) ?  If not that is the issue, just depending on the BIOS or computer manufacturer there are different ways to get into BIOS to check.  Turn off the computer, or hold the Power Button for 10 secs or so and release (assuming you dont have the ability to get to Windows OS.
Then turn the computer back on.  As it boots you will press a F Key, it will show up for a second right as windows starts BIOS.
Here is a list of the some manufactures F Key to press. you want the BIOS option so for Dell Press F12.

16 bit windows sub system (title)
C:/window/system32/autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

A:Couldn't open program, help

it's because one of the following files is missing from \WINNT\System32 or \WINDOWS\System32:

* Config.nt
* Autoexec.nt
* Command.com

Check to see that these files are there. If not, expand them from the install CD and copy them to \WINNT\System32 or \WINDOWS\System32.
They'll be on the CD in the \I386 folder as:
Config.nt_
autoexec.nt_
command.co_

From a command prompt window, type Expand /? to get instructions for using Expand.

Could you place help me with this. My window suddenly failed to start and showed the message: " An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data." I tried to use the function "Repair your computer" in my installation disc but it failed too.

I tried Startup Repair, System Restore, System Image Recovery but none of them could fix it. I'm in miserable now and can't do any work without my lap.

Please help me

A:Window couldn't start

Hi.

Besides this message, did you get anything else, something like this:

File: \Boot\BCD
Status: 0xc000000f
An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data
Did you try with 'Last Known Good Configuration'?

When you start your laptop, try to tap F8 when lap starts booting, until you see the Windows boot menu and then select Use last known good configuration.
If Windows has worked before, then you might have a chance that this works.

Second, you might be able to check in BIOS is the HDD visible.

If there is a HDD, you might try to repair Windows BDC:

I have already deleted so many programs and cleaned the recycle bin as well but still get the same message constantly. What do I do?

You shouldn't start a second thread on the same topic, especially in the heavily overworked antimalware forum. I know it can be quite worrying when you aren't getting help, and the temptation is always to shout twice in case no one heard the first one. The truth is, it can take a couple of days before someone gets onto your case in this forum because there are simply so many infections and so few helpers. There are however a few things you can do to help make sure you do get the help you're after, and that they fix up the machine as fast as possible.

Follow the instructions in this sticky thread and post the results of the logs in this thread.
http://forums.techguy.org/virus-other-malware-removal/943214-everyone-must-read-before-posting.html
That will provide the trained antimalware helpers with the information needed to diagnose and repair your issue. As I'm not trained to provide such assistance, I'll leave you in their capable hands.

I've just asked one of the moderators to close the duplicate, so focus on this one.

All the best

Hi, I used the System File Checker tool (sfc /scannow) and got the following message:

"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them".

Is there a solution to this?

A:How to fix corrupt files - SFC couldn't!

Hi, how is your computer running, sfc will respond this way for many reasons (it does it on all our modified PC's) yet the mod's enhance both performance and security so we ignore the response. If your computer is running well it might be that the sfc response is like for us, benign.

When sfc completes it gives a summary it will say it found no integrity violations (corrupt files), you are good to go. It might say it found integrity violations (corrupt files) and repaired them, you are good to go. If it say's it found integrity violations (corrupt files) and was unable to repair them, you might have a problem (not all errors are cause for concern, I have modified my system and sfc always finds problems, when you check them they are benign, as far as effecting the system goes) This does not mean errors should not be checked they may well cause problems.

First problem is the Log cbs, it's used for other purposes (The Windows Modules Installer service also writes to the CBS.log file. The Windows Modules Installer service installs optional features, updates, and service packs) and can be quite large, so it's best if you clear the log before running sfc.

Go to start search and type:- cmd, right click on the returned cmd.exe and select "run as administrator" at the prompt type:-

CD %windir%\logs\CBS (press enter)
DEL *.* (press enter) press Y at the are you sure prompt.
Exit (press enter) cmd prompt will close.

I've been running AVG Free several times over the past couple of days to clear up infections, but it looks like they keep reinstalling during startup. I came to my computer this morning and Firefox was open with a lot of open tabs. I don't even browse with Firefox anymore since I use Chrome now, and Opera before that. [This morning I uninstalled Firefox after finding this.] I don't know exactly what happened since Firefox had frozen in the middle of the night because one of the cats sat on our wireless router or something. I've found, and I've seen many instances elsewhere, that trying to go the Windows Update route for installing Windows 10 isn't exactly the best experience. Here's what I recommend, and I've found works on the 30+ PCs I've upgraded thus far...
Go here and download the appropriate 32- or 64-bit version of the Media Creation Tool.
Watch this video to help walk you through the process of upgrading.

Hi guys,

I want to delete few images from my Photos app in Metro.

These images are not there in the specified folder when I looked upon in File Explorer.

Now I select the images I want to delete (Only the ones not in the File Explorer i.e., which I have deleted from File Explorer prior to Photo app image deletion but still present in Photo metro app)-

And, after I press DELETE, there is nothing deleted & you can see that the number of images I selected for deletion keeps on adding.. in the message I get on the upper right corner saying ''18 items couldn't be recycled".

Once again I do it -

After properly shutting down by pressing SHIFT key & powering on, its is still like that.

After doing a hard reset, and powering on to check, it's still like that.
Any suggestions?

P.S.:
All the drivers, BIOS, Windows updates are up to date.

No other problems.

SFC scan is no integrity violations. CHKDSK is no errors. BIOS HDD & Memory test - extensive are PASSED.

Memtest86+ complete 6 passes overnight with no errors.

Thanks all of you helping, in advance !
N.B.: Sorry If this problem has been discussed already & I couldn't find it.

I attached 3 letters that I had written using Microsoft works (7) to my outlook express email, but none of the recipients were able to open them,
what did I do wrong? And how can I remedy it?

A:attachment couldn't be opened

Did you save them as .wps (Works) documents?

If the recipients don't have Works that could be why.

Does Works allow you the option to save as .doc (Word) documents?

Hi,
I'm running windows xp with the lastest version of Norton AV and Firewall but somehow i'm still getting viruses. I can't run windows update to get new patches because the site always gets stuck at

"Checking for the latest version of the Windows Update software...

Depending on your connection speed, this might take a minute. During this time, you may receive one or more security warnings. Review each security warning to ensure that the content is signed by Microsoft, and then click Install or Yes to install the software."

I need to get rid of the malware that i've already got too. Housecall showed 19 viruses, a trojan, and 14 spyware programs and got rid of all of them but two or three had wierd status reports...
ADW_SURFKICK - "unremoveable"
ADW_APROPOS.O- "no action available"
C:\WINDOWS\system32\clock.exe - WORM_RBOT.ACU - "File not found before action taken. Threat removed."
C:\WINDOWS\system32\maxspeed.exe - TROJ_VB.OD - "File not found before action taken. Threat removed."

When it says file not found it makes me worry that those files may have moved during the time between the scan and the repair.

Also, does anyone know why norton AV with all the current updates (ran LiveUpdate three times yesterday) doesn't pick up any of these viruses? Last night I booted in safe mode and ran nav and housecall simultaneously. Housecall (the 6.0 beta version) picked up 19 viruses, a trojan, and 14 spywa... Read more

Hi,

You could be getting re-infected quickly, each time you are online scanning> things can download quietly and when you re-check, they are baaaaaaaack...I've run into that situation many times while working on infected pc's.

Maybe when some of the junk is removed Windows Updates will work for you...

It's a matter of using some tricks...one of which is to run the antispyware programs, other utilities in Safe Mode, and another is to pull the network cable out if you are using a full-time always on connection such as DSL or cable service.

Next, you have to know how to look for running processes...some of these are hard to just End, but there are ways to use Hijackthis for instance to do so.

In some cases, they still resist shutting down, or respawn each time you try to, that's when you need Safe Mode scanning.

If they are still active there, and some definitely are, there are free tools to delete files upon reboot> one such tool is called Killbox, but you have to KNOW that a certain file/process is bad or you can get in serious trouble!!!!

Norton Antivirus does not find everything- and, some malware is written than can evade detection and even completely stop you from running antivirus/antispyware programs...or even going to any sites relating to those programs.

I suggest you make sure you have the latest version of all these:

This is the problem I'm faced with and don't know what to do from here. After deleting current partition and then formatting in NTSF file system, it goes through the process of preparing for installation. When it reboots, it says the following:

Not sure if this is the correct forum to post this in but..

Have installed Windows 8 64bit on three computers, all similar spec (amd a8 processors and gigabyte f2 motherboards with 8gig ram.)

Windows seems to be ok in every other respect other than I am getting an error in the metro store. When trying to install any app I get the error:

I have searched the internet for this error, and although I can find similar errors, I can see no one else having the error code with the same scrambled type.

We got around the error by signing in to a microsoft account, but then we are unable to create a pin for said account (the cursor just spins).

This happens on all three computers.

Any help greatly appreciated.

A:your purchase couldn't be completed

Have you tried copying & pasting the error code in Google ?

I find that helps.

EDIT--

I Googled & found nothing.

Perhaps this phone number will help.
I've used it & got good help from Microsoft.

i use windows 8 professional edition, when i want to mount the image, the warning message came and it says "couldn't mount image because its in use" although i'm not mount it, do you have any answers ? thanks

A:couldn't mount image

Hello Ucing9a, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Do you have the image file opened in anything else? If so, close it and try mounting it again.

If that doesn't help, then restart the computer, and try mounting it again.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

The other night I just could not shut my Dell Dimension 2400 computer down. I wondered if it had anything to do with the Windows XP. I wound up pressing the button on the computer itself and holding it, something I know should not be done, at least not often. I noticed that just before I tried to shut down the computer the proper way there was a backup banner (hope am using clear terminology), with the green spots running across, which surprised me by its timing. I usually wait when I see those things. This was fast. Also, I noticed that when I tried to restart the computer, no results. So far tonight it seems to be working normally, but I haven't tried to shut it off yet.

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

The Tor network is a underground network that typically deals with association of illegal goods and activities. Searching the Tor Network, Tor Points, or the Dark Web on a Google Search can land you on a United States FBI watch list for possible illegal activities.

What are some solutions for skype not being able to open in Windows 7? When I open Skype a window pops up and says "skype has stopped working", there's an option "check for solution" but it doesn't work either.

I've tried everything: uninstall and reinstall, I looked through the internet and tried everything people suggested like deleting share.xml file and some other files. It's no use.

Anyone can help? Thanks!

A:Skype couldn't open

Find the .exe file that you use to open Skype. This could be in C:\Program Files\Phone or a shortcut on your Desktop. Right click the file and click on the Compatibility tab. Make sure nothing is checked and restart Skype.

We were having problems with 4 workstations that was in office #1, the Server and 5 workstations are in office #2. I felt it was due to wiring problems in that part of the building so we had surge protectors installed on the light pole, and I put the 4 workstations on power backups/surge protectors, that was about 4 months ago and no more problems until Friday.
Friday the electric went out and right back on, the machines in office#1 with the power backups did not go down.
I installed new Anti Virus software on all 9 computers which required the computers to restart. which was fine.
Monday morning all computers found the workgroup and connected to the Server except one of the 4 computers in office #1
It could not find the path to the server which also meant it couldn't connect to the internet.
I put a new adapter in , it was blinking green and the switch showed the cable as green.
I put the adapter in a different slot.
I reset the power backup/surge protector
I tried to ping from it to the server
I tried to ping from another workstation to the problem machine
I connected it to another cable that I knew was working
I finally gave up and ordered another computer
Today the electric went off again and right back on
Her computer is now able to find the server and join the workgroup
what could possibly be the reason??
All the computers were bought at the same time and are identical. Sys with AMD 3200 processors, windows 2000 pro, 40gb harddrives, 1 gb memory

I tried to connect two computers but I'm not savvy enough to do it. I finally gave up. The problem I have now is.. My phone line is OPEN. I haven't been able to go to the location where it asks if you want the line open. I've even went to system restore and I can't go back to the date I need to. ( about a year ago) If there is anyone that can explain to me in plain words and step by step how to undo this I would greatly appreciate it. I'm using xp home version. Thank You in advance.

I'm using Internet Explorer 9 and I've been trying to download a file I need. However, it keeps giving me the message "The publisher of this program couldn't be verified", with options to "Open" the file (which doesn't work because it's an incomplete file; I guess it blocked the download), "Learn more..." which is useless and "Cancel". There's no option to download the file, even though I know I can trust it and it's a file I want.

Does anyone know how to get around this?
Real answers please, not just "get chrome lol"

A:The publisher of this program couldn't be verified.

Take a look at the "security" tab under Tools/Internet Options. If it doesn't work with default settings, you can lower the security level for "Internet" or add the site name to the "Trusted sites" zone. There is also a "Certificates" section under the "Content" tab which is rather complicated. Some sites are blocked simply because they forgot to renew their certificate on time. In the past, when I encountered a problem there was usually an option to by-pass the protection, but it's possible there could be a group policy setting that was changed from its default in order to further "lock down" IE. Did you set up IE yourself or was the computer supplied by your company?

I was surfing the net, and went to bed (while surfing, a couple of updates forced themselves through, I don't remember which ones; I think one was Fire Fox). Any who, I tried to check my email in the morning and I couldn't see my router, but I could see the neighbors' networks (2 secure and 1 Unsecured). My network is broadcasting. I just cannot see it! I asked the "tech guy" at work and he was lost. I'm pretty sure I'm not an idiot (though I am not a genius either). Please help me.

Here's some info...

Windows XP
DELL Latitude D630
Wireless G Router

And an FYI...I have scoured the internet for the past 5 days for information and suggestions as to why this is happening. I have done everything that the forums have suggested, and at this point. Basically if you can Google it and find the answer using search terms like "can't see my unsecured network" or I can't see my broadcasting network, but I can see my neighbor's"...then I have prob. already been there and tried that, but if you know some $100 words to describe the problem and Google those and find answers then PLEASE reply to this thread...I can't take another night of 1.0Mbs connection speed and the constant connection loss.

I don't know if I'm posting this in the right thread, so sorry if I'm not.

My operating system is Windows XP

Okay, when I started my computer this morning it was stuck on the start up screen where it says windows like it kept showing the bars moving for like a long time. So I just turned it off by pressing the power button (wrong I know). Then I turned it back on and it went to a black screen giving me the options to run it in safe mode, start it from the last known date it was working, or start it normally. I tried all of them. And at first they didnt work. Then I did the last known date, and after over 20 minutes it took me to a blue screen and said Cheking C:\ files. And something about NTFS and CHKDSK and started listing record segments and saying they were unreadable. Then after an hour or so it said it was deleting certain files and restoring them.

After it did that, I tried to sign onto AOL to I could come here..but AOL said my firewall was blocking me. So I disabled them and uninstalled AVG (trial version). Still didnt work. I had to create a whole new location...

Now I'm on my DxDiag and it popped up a balloon saying C:\Windows\system32\dmscript.dll corrupt and unreadable run the CHKDSK utility. What is that?

Has a virus or something deleted those files? Last time I deleted any files I rebooted and my computer ran just fine...

If you want me to post the DXDiag I will. Oh and now when I restart my computer it runs very SLOW on the start up s... Read more

Hello,
I recently set up a home network for my computers at home. I have two desktops, both running XP, and one laptop, running Vista. After I had set up my network, I had a little problem that my main desktop(the one where i ran the network wizard) and my laptop were able to access each other without any problem. Since I set a password for them both, I could type in the account user name and password when i first tried to access each other on the network. However, my another desktop(PC2), which is not password-set, can access the other two password-set pcs while those two pcs could not access PC2. When i tried to access PC2 from either laptop or main desktop, it always asked me for user name and password. but it's actually not password-set. I had tried all possible username & password i frequently use and got no help. Does anyone know how to solve my problem? I highly appreciate it!
