Hmmm...cant reach this page

Q: Hmmm...cant reach this page

I have had this issue so much more often the past week with Edge than my entire time using Windows 10. Is anyone else seeing a increase in this? I cant tell if its a wifi problem (all my other devices using wifi are fine) or a problem caused by a recent update or what, but its so aggravating.

Any tricks or suggestions before I just ditch the Edge browser and rely only on Chrome?

A: Hmmm...cant reach this page

Well after installing Chrome I am also having internet problems. So it's not the Edge browser. Must be a driver. Can someone point me in the right direction to see if my drivers are up to date?

Hi,
1. I cannot find a solution for a problem accessing Microsoft forums websites from Windows 10 - IE11 and Edge browsers:
in EDGE - Hmm, we can't reach this page.   IE11 this page can't be displayed.
For about a year it worked at least from Edge. Now both cannot access Microsoft forums. All the other sites are accessible.
I am using a corporate proxy. The same sites are accessible from Windows 7 with IE11.
First I blamed our IE GPO with multiple settings. So for a test I placed my machine in Blocked OU (no IE GPO, proxy is set from different GPO).
Everything what I tried didn't help. The question: why just Microsoft forums (no other sites) are not accessible.
Did couple of tests from Windows 7 IE11 machines. The same Microsoft forums are perfectly accessible (all GPOs are applied).
Suddenly, found that one corporate Web App does the same : "This  page can't be displayed". On other Windows 7 it does work.
I am out of ideas now... cannot blame anymore our GPO or proxy...
Any advice?
Thanks

1. I can access http://www.qmiles.com. On this page you need to enter member number and pin code.
2. Enter any member No and pin code and login
3. Box indicates 'you are about to view pages over a secure connection'. Click OK
4. Requested page does not display. Status bar first indicates 'Opening page https://secure.qmiles.com/FrontPage.jsp', then changes to 'Connecting to 213.130.112.202', and finally 'Done', and displays a page saying 'Page cannot be displayed'

I use windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 and Tiscali broadband. This same problem exists at 4 Tiscali broadband site I have checked in this area, but works OK at an AOL site, and also at 1 Tiscali broadband site a few miles away.
Can you suggest what I should do to be able to view the login page?
This is not a security or firewall problem, as the problem is present even when antivirus and firewall are turned off. As the site is accessible from another site, it does not appear to be a security problem. I can access the secure bank sites.

A:cannot reach a particular web page

I can get to first link but second IP comes as unavailable. Perhaps the page is generated uniquely based on input you provide when logged in and cookies you have on your machine. If you have a bad cookie or temp internet file the page cannot be generated. Try emptying temp internet files and deleting cookies.

Hello
This post is in regards to a website that I'm attempting to access. Within the email there is a highlighted link "Store" where I access a link to purchase my photos.. Clicking on this link Message reads Cannot reach this page, Refresh or Search. Clicking on Refresh nothing happens, click on Search brings up all the connecting websites but each one I try to open they all show the same. Cannot reach this page. This website is the only one that shows that. All others such as My Bank , Kaiser etc all open without incident. I do not understand this .I tried everything I even sent an email to this company about this issue The email could not be sent either , Up until today I have had no problems with this company/website. What happened, and Why? I have Windows 10 Microsoft Edge

A:Cannot Reach this page

1) Right click the link, click on Copy Link, and paste it in the address bar. Does it look like a valid website link?
2) If so, search for, and open, on your computer
iexplore.exe
and paste that link there and try it, does it work?

That is when using Edge.  Similar type of messages happen when trying to get to the same page in Chrome and in Internet Explorer.  I changed the website name, giving a fake one instead of the real one.

My guess is that something is wrong at the website's end and not at my end since I can reach all other sites; just not one particular one.  Any good way to check on this?  Any other way of testing the vaidness or health of the website?

-  Just went to a different computer and tried the website again.  Same message, that site can not be reached, refused to connect.  The website must have the problem.

I've set Google as my search provider in Edge. If I open a new tab and type where it says: Search or enter web address, I get:

Hmm, we can?t reach this page.

Try this
?Make sure you?ve got the right URL: http://windows%207%20iso%20download
?Refresh the page
?Search for what you want

If I click on the last option, a search opens in Bing.

This is driving me crazy!

A:Edge: Hmm, we canít reach this page?

Does Google look ok as the default search provider in advanced options?

I just tried

Went to Google home page
brought up settings\advanced
clicked the drop down for search box and selected add new
it showed me google was available and I clicked add as default

are these the same steps you took?

We have 2 wired pc, and a laptop. The PCs are Acer3100+, 1.8ghz, 1G ram, connected via ethernet to a wildblue modem. I have just installed a Belkin wireless router, model F5D 6231-4, that I bought on ebay. Both pcs will go online, a little slower than before, but my big concern is that when I run a cmd, ipconfig/all, my IP address dosen't match what they say. Belkin says it should be 192.168.1, and I get 70.41.xx.xxx, in this range. They said to configure router, but when I enter that page address, I get the notice of a network error. I don't know enough about this to know if this is a security issue or not! If I manually enter the numbers that Belkin should be , I get the correct address in an ipconfig, but I cannot get to the page, or get online. What have I done wrong!!!!

A:Can't reach Belkin configuration page..is this a problem???

the Belkin default address is 192.168.2.1

you're apparently wired like
modem---(wan)belkin-router(LAN)---yourPCs

the WAN side address will be set by your ISP, not belkin and might well be
70.41.xx.xxx, but none of your PCs will see this using IPCONFIG /ALL --
they will see the LAN side addresses. IPCONFIG will show the DHCP address
given to that specific machine. the LAN side address of the belkin should be
the default above, and thus your PC addresses will default to something like
192.168.2.x.

use one PC to access the router config using your browser http://192.168.2.1/
IF NECESSARY, you can change the default router address and the range of IP
addresses that will be assigned to your PCs.

you should absolutely change the admin password

Hello everyone.
I am currently experiencing an error everytime I use my Microsoft Edge. Whenever I try to go to a site, I always end up with this error. The weird thing is, this issue only happens on certain websites (such as Facebook and Yahoo currently) and sometimes with Google. It likes to disconnect me often and I really don't want to have to deal with this issue anymore.

My internet works fine as my laptop (which I'm currently on) and phone can connect to it without issue. I don't know why it doesn't work on my desktop especially since its internet is Ethernet.

I tested this on other browsers to see if it was only on Edge but it turns out that chrome and firefox experience the same issue with different sites as well. For all three, I haven't been able to go on Facebook and Yahoo, and sometimes Google.

I know the problem is from my end because clearly, the sites are up. Is there any way to solve this or has anyone else found a solution to this?

I'm running Windows 10.

I've tried the following:
- ipconfig / flush
- ipconfig / reset
- ipconfig / release
- ipconfig / renew
- clearing caches and browsing history
- a full scan for malware using malwarebytes and windows defender, already removed/quarantined all threats, did this multiple times to ensure there were none left
- reinstallation of chrome and firefox and a reset of edge
- ipv4 - changing preferred and alternate dns address to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4 respectively
- checked to see if a proxy was ... Read more

Hi. Welcome to TSF.

You mentioned threats were found by Windows Defender and Malwarebytes. Were they actually malware or just PUPs? A broken Internet connection is one of the common after-effects of a malware infection, and post-infection repairs need to be done, assuming all of the infections have been cleared. I advice seeking a clean bill of health from the virus removal section, and after they declare your system free from infections, come back here and we will advice further if the problem isn't cured.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1721 64bit 4gig laptop. Three nights ago I saw i had two updates available one being Microsoft Silver Light download and internet explorer 9beta.

I let them download and install and decided to have it wait 20 minutes before it restarts so i can watch the Rock return on monday night raw segment via youtube.

After I was done, it restarted I walked out the room, came back and saw a lit up black screen. I figured it was installing the update or finish restarting and loading up. So i went made a sandwhich watch smallville came back an hour later only to find that it was still dark.

I powered it off and back on, the screen lit up but it was just a black screen. The CD tray light is lit but won't open, the fan starts up momentarily and then stops, the power light is on. I waited tried it again, finally it boots goes to windows, saying its finshing the update, it finishes I log in, black lit up screen again.

I restarted and it won't give me a dell screen just goes black again like what i first mention, sometime with a light sometime with no light. Sometime it'll show the dell screen like its gonna boot up then goes black. Lately its just starts like it gonna start and then the fan stops lights still lit but has a black screen with no light.

So i hit the power button and the FN key and this is what i got: the num lock and cap lock light blinking and the last light by the power button solid.

Alright, I'll give you a short histroy of what has happened in the past few days.

I recently bought Half Life, and installed, played, bla, bla. It froze a few times on me, and crashed to the desktop. Sometimes I only get a bad resolution and limited colors, and sometimes a black sreeen. I rebooted today after another crash, and the taskbar is gone, stardock has reset, and I thinka few other things are quirky. So pretty much I have no theme. It loads up the first few seconds, then disappears. I tried a System Restore and tried to load up explorer.exe again, but nothing. It could always be a virus, but I check at least once a week, and no problems whatsoever.

I've never had this happen to me, what could be the problem. Just in case, here's a HJT log.

System information as to video and sound as well as memory would be more useful in
dealing with Half Life or Half Life2. Is it the Steam/Valve here? HL and HL2 both place large demands on the system resources including memory.

A:hmmm...Could I?

It really depends on your computer specs ans weather or not one motherboard supports what you want to swop over.

If each motherboard supports equally the same, you can swop what you like.

Stuff you can swop without motherboard support usually are CD/DVD drives/ Graphic cards etc.

CPU / Memory etc - check your board specs.

This has been going on for awhile, but since I only reboot every few days I've tolerated it.

When I try to shut down/reboot, it takes minutes for anything to happen, and I often have to do it twice to get the PC to do anything.

I'm running XP/SP1 with all the current updates. I've run the usual checks - AVG, Spybot, AdAware, etc, and did run a HiJackThis last week but didn't see anything unusual.

Suggestions on what to check next?

Thanks.

it's really bugging me. See, being a superficial teenager, me and my friends sometimes find it fun going on sites like www.findapix.com and rating people. But, these paste few days, we keep getting this message:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e07'

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Error converting data type varchar to numeric.

/rateapix/rate_submit.asp, line 49

Whenever we click on a number to rate someone. Is this a website problem or is it just my wacky computer again?

Hey everyone,

For the last three days, everyday, I've encountered a BSOD. I'm not quite sure what the causes are but I've narrowed it down to one of two things. A hardware malfunction (I'm just guessing) or an application has been installed that should not.

On 8/24, my computer installed a couple of updates. These are listed below:
-Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 x86 Redistributable (app reconfig)
-NVIDIA PhysX (app installed)
-USB Compositive Device (driver installed)
-USB Input Device (driver installed)
-HID-compliant consumer control Device (driver installed)
-USB Audio Device (driver installed)

I was prompted to restart my computer and the updates installed. Two days later on 8/26, my computer had it's first BSOD. Since then I have continued to experience BSODs everyday.

The biggest reason I've suspected that one of the applications above should now have been installed is because I don't have an NVIDIA graphics card. I have a Radeon HD7870. Although, I'm not sure if this NVIDIA application is used for other uses.

hardware spec info:

-8gb ram (I recently just replaced a stick of ram that had been failing and I suspect the new stick could possible be failing...?)
-Radeon HD7870
-ASRock Z68 Extrem3 Gen3

If any needs more spec info, I can provide it just ask.

As for dump info, I'm not sure how to upload files of it. I have the documented reports on my Windows "Reliability Monitor" Application so here is the inf... Read more

A:BSOD... hmmm

Since you don't have an Nvidia video card you need to remove any and all Nvidia software or drivers. Do you see any yellow exclamation points in the device manager? What version of Windows are you running? Make sure you have the latest motherboard drivers installed, using the ASROCK support website

Normally they come formatted in fat32 already. Have seen the problem you have happen on occasion.

Since you have not put any data on it yet go ahead and format it. That should get you going.

Hello everyone,

For a while now I have came to this website for help fixing my computer (yes, I am a computer geek :3) and up until now I have had success with fixing any issues that have risen. However, lately no matter what I try my laptop keeps having issues that I cannot explain.
The symptoms I have noticed are:
Slowness and laggyness in general
Programs not responding at all (such as explorer.exe and internet)
Anti-virus scans crashing not only the program but my computer
Random freezes
Random shut downs
I am not sure what to do. I have scanned with multiple programs
Advanced system care (for registry fixes, what I thought this may have been)
Norton Internet security
Spybot search and destroy
Malewarebytes (crashes program and computer, full scan only)
Microsoft Security Essentials (crashes program and computer, full scan only)
I keep my computer well maintained, all programs such as the de-fragger and disk cleaner work fine, no crashes there. I am not sure what to do.

Here are my log files requested by the forum for a new thread:

Advanced SystemCare
Wise Registry Cleaner

We do not recommend the use of registry cleaners. Our colleague miekiemoes has an excellent writeup here

We suggest uninstalling them via Programs and Features in your Control Panel.

------------------------------------------------------

It appears that you have two antivirus programs installed and running, Security Essentials and Norton. While this may seem like better protection, they can actually conflict with one another and cause system instability or even system hangs.

It may even be the cause of your current issue. Please choose one to keep and uninstall the other via Programs and Features in your Control Panel.

If you uninstall Norton...

Please download the Norton Removal Tool and Save it to your Desktop.Close all programs and double-click the Norton_Removal_Tool.exe then click Run
In Vista/Win7, right-click and choose 'Run as administrator'.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
Restart your computer if asked.
Then delete Norton_Removal_Tool.exe from your desktop.

So I had Vista for a little while, but ended up mad at it, so I switched back to XP. One of the only things I liked were the games, which I saved to a cd, then saved on my computer once XP installation was over. The problem ( as many of you smarter users may have guessed ) is that Windows pops up and says that none of the Vista games are valid "Win32" applications. So here's my question, is there any way to make any of these games ( at least Solitaire and MahJong ) work on my XP?

A:Hmmm, Vista solitaire on XP?

3 problems Don't know if they are related or not.

1) Internet Explorer (6) (Dumped 7 after problems) usually loading pages very very slowly at times taking 30 seconds or more between clicking and seeing any action at all. This also applies to Firefox and AOL. For the record, the other computer in the house runs just fine and at great speeds. Oh yeah, I can download a file quite fast, no problem. My main issue seems to be with navigating between pages and sites. I said usually, because sometimes it zooms along. Using Process Explorer I have tried to find a program in action during these slow downs, but I haven't had any luck nailing anything down.

2) My computer will not restart on its own unless I'm in Safe Mode. In standard shutdown I get a screen that says Windows is shutting down and it hangs there. I have left it for hours AND even overnight.......this always results in me pushing and holding the power button to reboot.

3) I cannot load a critical Windows Update (Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2) It has failed to update dozens of times.

If anyone has the talent to comprehend and repair all of this then you're really something special.

Thanks! Eric

I've had a WD 500G WD5000D032 MyBook Premium for many years and after upgrading to 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate, I've had the "WD&External_HDD_Button_&_Lights" error in Device Manager since day one and have never been able to correct the problem.

My system drive is all but kaput so I backed up all of my important files and ordered a Crucial 128 GB m4 SATA 6Gb/s SSD with a 2.5" to 3.5" drive converter as a replacement. Why am I telling you this, honestly, I have no eff'in idea! Anyway, I'd rather futz around now just in case something I do causes a problem ; then the failing drive will be affected and not the SSD and I can install the 500G WD5000 MyBook Premium in an error-free fashion to the new system drive.

Does anybody have a solution because I don't want to replace a drive that works perfectly fine, except that it runs 24/7 and turns on all by itself after I turn it off. I also don't know if having the yellow warning triangle with an exclamation point in Device Manager will affect the performance of my PC, especially since Win7 doesn't recognize my Nikon digital camera either...

Hello Michael, welcome to the forum

It would help if you were to fill out your system specs
You could try going through this; USB Driver - General Fix for Problems[2]=Hardware%20and%20Drivers

and it would help if you post the error messages, using the snipping tool and the paperclip to upload snips so that we can see them.

Software designer sets his sights on revolutionizing computers

01/08/04

Associated Press

San Francisco - A few hundred thousand lines of computer code could revolutionize the way people interact with computers, say its unlikely inventor and his backers.

Denny Jaeger, a musician and composer who spent the past decade developing the software, will unveil it Jan. 15, when people will be able to download a scaled-down version for free.

The software, called "No Boundaries Or Rules," or NBOR, includes an intuitive user interface for writing, drawing, compiling multimedia presentations and other PC tasks. It allows real- time collaboration and sends large files over the Internet at lightning speed.

The cornerstone of NBOR is "Blackspace," software for word processing, desktop publishing, slideshow presentation, graphics, drawing, animations, audio, photo cropping, instant messaging and real-time conferencing.

Opening Blackspace results in a blank canvas on which users arrange text or create sophisticated visual displays with only a few clicks and drags of a mouse - without ever using the pull- down menus, icons, margins, tabs and fonts of Microsoft Word and other current word-process ing systems.

Canvases can be saved as common document titles - such as schoolreport.doc - or as a symbol, such as a ... Read more

hey people, my brother was on the computer earlier today, and, the power went out (ouch!) We do not have a surge avaider, so, it porbably sort of short-circuited the computer. But, when the computer turned back on, he logged on and there was no toolbar. (Just a white line on the bottem of the screen.) So, I right-clicked that to get my toolbar back, but in the original Windows Classic Theme. So, I right-clicked my background and went into properties and I looked at the themes, and, Windows Classic was the only one, but, I could change that color. So, I switched out to like upload (or something) the Windows XP Theme to there, but, in the sample box, it turned completely black. Also, the internet stopped working. My sister's laptop (which I'm on right now) works fine on the internet. I am pretty sure Xbox Live (wired) works. So, it's all on the computer. I looked at the network connections and somehow they all got deleted. So, I tried to run the network setup wizard to connect to our old network, and, the network setup doesn't run. I double-click it and nothing comes up. So, now I'm stuck with a internet-deprived, windows classic themed computer. Also, it cannot drag icons or copy and paste them on my desktop. (Weird...)

Windows XP Media Center EditionI update and scan regularly with the line of AVG applications (AVG Anti-Virus Free, AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5, and AVG Anti-Rootkit). While scanning with Anti-Virus, it detected a "Trojan Downloader." I quickly removed it successfully. I then proceeded to scan with AVG Anti-Rookit and found a "Hidden Driver File" (under the name of "ahrmpxlv.SYS"). Located in WINDOWS\System3\Drivers\file. I followed to instructions to remove it which led to a restart on my computer. However, when I loaded up Windows, at the welcome screen, the into tune played but the screen didn't change to my desktop. I figured it took a bit longer because of the rootkit removal. However it stayed idle. Only if you hit CTRL-ALT-DELETE does it go to the desktop. A popup says that the rootkit was removed successfully. When I scanned again it was back but a different file name. I've scanned during safe mode and with system restore off. It just wont go away. Also, when i scan with Anti-Virus it detects a file named"host," which is located in WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts.Anyway, here is my HiJack This log:Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2Scan saved at 12:42:46 PM, on 10/13/2007Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.20661)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDO... Recently sometimes while playing a game for a long time (few hours) my computer will turn off. I'll turn it back on and if i immediately try to play the game again then it will turn off not long after (after the game has been started). I have to leave my computer off for a bit and then come back and the problem will go away for a bit. Most of the time I'll see some signs before it shuts down, the game will become laggy and things take longer to load. Other times depending on the game it will freeze quickly and then turn off.

I googled this problem and I don't think it's my temperature. I have an antec gaming case that has excellent airflow. I opened up PC wizard 2008 to look up my rail voltages and it came up with some funky readings. I don't know much about rail voltages, but I know enough about computers to know 6.02v on a 12v rail is a littttle weird.

These were my readings off pc wizard

Voltage CPU: 1.20v
+3.3v voltage: 6.02v
+5v voltage: 3.58v
+12v voltage: 6.02v

I have a 600w ultra V series powering a

Intel Core 2 Duo E650
EVGA 8800gts 320mb "superclocked"
2GB DDR800 Corsair
FATAL1TY FP-IN9 SLI motherboard
120gb WD hard drive

everything in this rig is brand new (<1 month) except for my HD and my CD-drive. Everything is at stock speeds.

Any help or input on this matter is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

edit: the voltages appear normal in the BIOS but not under PC wizard in windows. Is this normal?

Is there a way I can get around this without spending a lot of money?

I'm having trouble very similar to the guy who started this thread:

http://forums.techguy.org/showthread.php?t=220791

I would just follow the advice given in that one, except I saw that some of the advice was based upon the specifics of his problem. So I think maybe I should post some of the same info he did and see what everyone has to say. In the next couple of posts I will put the information he was asked to post.

In addition to not being able to connect to symantec.com, I'm having some other problems as well. I have gone for quite some time without updating my virus definitions, because it just wouldn't work. Recently I found a way to get new virus definitions (in Norton AV) via a server at my college. Once I did and ran an scan, Norton found 1133 instances of viruses on my machine. As soon as I saw some of the names that came up, I headed for Symantec.com to download any fixes they might have had. That's when I noticed the connection problem. Additionally, if I leave my computer sitting for a while (30 minutes or so) when I come back nothing works. I have what appears to be a normal desktop sitting there, but when I click the start menu I discover it's [empty]. None of my quicklaunch buttons work either. I suspect this might be the effects of a different virus than the one that's blocking me from connecting to symantec.com. So the gist is: I'm going to need help in the process of cleaning all these buggers of my computer, so this thr... Read more

For the last 4 or 5 days I've not been able to connect to several sites including: Microsoft.com, windows update (and several other MS related sites,) iwon.com and connections to a number of sites have slowed to a crawl.

This is occurring on two computers
1. XP Pro SP2
2. 2k Pro SP4

I have a third computer running 2000 Server with no problems connecting to any site.

The XP SP2 upgrade was over a month ago and I've had no problems related to that other than my computer slowing down a bit.

What really throws me is this occurring on two different computers using different O/S's. I've checked the IE security settings tab and the advanced tab on all three machines (they are all set to default)

Note: I've been running MS Antispyware on these two machines for several weeks with no problems. I also run Spybot on the 2k machine.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Problem begins here - i can ping from PC to laptop and receive response, connect to it and see shared folders/printers. But when i try to ping from laptop to PC, all i get is - Request timed out. Any other connections is impossible from laptop to PC impossible also. Although in Connection Status window, i can see how my PC receive pinging's packets. Both computers firewalls are off.

P.S. - cant explain this but - when i change ends of cable between computers, my laptops "ping -t" for PC, gets responded 4 times and continues getting timing out after.

Howdy! For quite awhile now, I haven't been able to reach any sourceforge pages - and there are many. There doesn't appear to be a problem at their site, at least nothing shows up through a search - Googling only turns up user problems with settings etc.. My WinME, while hateful and all the rest, has never shown a problem accessing a website - just any sourceforge product page. It's the same story with our other WinXP PC as well. What a mystery! Firefox is my browser, I modified settings to "Autodetect proxy settings" after a forum recommendation, but no joy. If this is a firewall issue, it's odd that this is the only group of sites that I can't reach. Any suggestions for browser settings or info about sourceforge?

Let's see if there are any remnants left over messing with your HOSTS file or other settings. Some types of malware will disable MBAM and other security tools. If MBAM will not install, try renaming it.Before saving any of your security programs, rename them first. For example, before you save Malwarebytes', rename it to something like MBblah.exe and then click on Save and save it to your desktop. Same thing after you install it. Before running it, rename the main executable file first

Right-click on the mbam-setup.exe file and change the .exe extension to .bat, .com, .pif, or .scr and then double-click on it to run.

If after installation, MBAM will not run, open the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder in Program Files, right-click on mbam.exe and change the .exe as noted above. Then double-click on it to run..Another work around is by not using the mouse to install it, Just use the arrow keys, tab, and enter keys. ~ Courtesy of boopmePlease download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. Hello. Recently, my Windows 8 has been working fine, but when I woke up this morning, I was not able to access the Internet. It has been int he same spot for the last few days and Internet was perfect, but this morning, it would not connect to any. Basically, it won't even list any. 1) My father and sister are using it.

2) I've gone to two different houses with different internet, nothing changed.
I've been trying to fix it since 7 this morning and I feel like I'm going to just burst into tears of frustration. My audio is also not working, but I care more of getting the Internet working. And my computer will not allow me to turn on Windows Security Center.
I hope someone can fix this, and if they do, I will be seriously grateful. Thanks much, sincerely, Heather.

For some reason, I am unable to reach Ann Coulter - Official Home Page on my computer. It's been several weeks since I was last able to visit the site. It appears that I've blocked that one site but I'm darned if I can figure out how.

I have used Spam Interceptor for about 6 months, and consider it an exceptionally effective spam-blocker. However, when I have tried to reach my account today, I have received this error-message:

'Could not locate remote server
http://si20.com/newaccount'

Why should this be happening ?

The crisis has passed. I dare say that the more knowledgeable of you think some of these gadgets unnecessary, but after some vigorous tidying-up with System Mechanic, the difficulty disappeared.

So recently my external harddrive was dropped and died. I had Steam installed on it, but since it's dead, I wanted to reinstall in onto my normal drive. Well, when I went to try, it gave me an error because it couldn't find it in H drive. And I can't uninstall it, because the add and remove programs wizard gives me an error because it can't locate it. What do I do?

A:Solved: Uninstalling from something I can't reach.

Sounds like you have no option except to manually delete any folders/files associated with the program from your C:\ drive (there shouldn't be much if the prog was installed on the external drive) and edit the registry. Tricky business if you are not experienced with such things.

If you should be tempteted to do so, be very sure to do a backup of your registry before doing anything. You can learn about backing up the registry here.

Good Luck... Raybro

Hey guys, I have a bad case of the Blue screen of death. At first I was only receiving the registry error(0x00000051) when I attempted to boot safe mode. I eventually fixed that using a program called safekeyrepair or something like that. But now I get the bsod when trying to enter safe mode or normal windows.

So I decided screw it I'll try to use the directory recovery mode and just repair or reinstall. But that mode produces the same bsod. So then I tried using my windows xp cd from another computer and when that loads it says it can't find a hard drive, which is bs because I've run a hdd diagnostics program and it spent an hour scanning a hard drive I'm sure of it. The error I received from the diagnostics scan was Error code 0000: Read verification failed.

That's about all I can think of, can anyone help?! Thanks for looking!

I am using Windows 2000, and I have a number of ham radio programs that use the sound to demodulate digital data (e.g., RTTY). These worked perfectly for years, but then I was unwise and tried out additional programs, that I did not keep track of. I suddenly discovered that my old programs (MMTTY, Logger) no longer receive sound. The sound comes through the speakers, and the Windows mixer works to vary the intensity and mute the different channels, but the software does not see the sounds, and the software displays show no sound. This is true for all the programs that I used to use.

I expect that there is a key dll or other file that was changed, but I cannot determine which one.

I have looked at the running processes, and I think that I can account for every one, and these do not affect sound.

I would appreciate guidance in tracking down the problem.

I swear it's not my power.

A:Unable to reach desktop!! please help!!

Let's not panic yet!

Try again, this time select Safe Mode instead of Start windows normally. Come back to tell if you could boot your laptop to Safe Mode.

There is a forum that I moderate at http://s12.************.com/TedworthPC/index.php. (The asterisks of course represent the string indicated by me more fully in the title.)

I have visited the forum a number of times every day since it was launched some months ago.

However, when I try to reach it today, I am unable to do so, and instead a capital 'H' appears in the pane where the forum ought to appear.

This notebook is swept for viruses and spyware every day, and appears to be clean.

Can anyone help ?

My Prescott 2.8E is currently overclocked to 3.4ghz with a FSB of 243. The CPU voltage on the Abit IS7 is 1.6625 V. The DDR voltage is 2.6V on my 2x512mb PC3200 setup. (1x512mb is a no-name Legacy brand and the other 1x512mb is a Mushkin value brand).

Through the BIOS, the 2x512mb DDR400 is running at 2.5-3-3-7 with a 5:4 ratio speed of 194.7mhz (194.7mhz x 2 = 389.4mhz effective).

I've tried to reach a stable 3.5ghz (FSB=250mhz) but running 3Dmark05 causes WinXP to BSOD. I've tried increasing the CPU voltage to 1.7125 V but it's doesn't help. I've tried loosening the memory timings to 3-3-3-8 but oddly, this caused a failure of WinXP to load (whereas booting the system with 2.5-3-3-7 at least got me to a stable Desktop).

What do you think is holding me back? BTW, the CPU is being watercooled by the Koolance CPU-200G and with AC in my room, the temp is around 46 to 47 C.

Will buying the Geil Ultra PC4000 DDR500 ram help me to reach a stable 3.5ghz or have I already reached the limit of my CPU overclock? I don't want to invest around $150 on the Geil PC4000 and find out that I still can't overclock to 3.5ghz.

All help/advice/feedback is greatly appreciated!

Hello. Here's my problem:

I got home from work one day and my wife tells me the computer "just stop working". Confused I ask her how? Unable to tell me, I decided to turn on the computer. Unfortunately, nothing happened. Since I believed the prob was the power supply, as the fan was not turning, I bought a new one and tried again. Still nothing happened. So I decided to try a new motherboard, Biostar M7VIG 400. Still no luck. So I tried a new CPU, AMD Athlon XP 2400+. Now the PC has power, the keyboard lights up, the DVD and DVD-r drives respond, and the CPU fan runs but it does not continue to POST. Everything stops there, the fan continues to run, an amber light on the case stays lit but nothing happens. I've tried disconnecting everything, hard drive (which is empty but that's another story), DV, DVD-r but no luck. And this is where I ask for your help. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi all, I got weird problem. One day both of my browser (IE7 and Firefox 2.011) can't reach internet. I am using winXP. Other computer connected to the same router works just fine.

I can't even go to my router login page with that computer (IE said address not valid while firefox displays some error that I don't understand). I can ping the router, I can ping other computer in network, I can share files to/from other computer, my network can see this computer and this computer can see other network just fine. I even can ping www[dot]yahoo[dot]com (sorry I am not allowed to post links yet, my first post) which proves nothing is really wrong and that it should see internet just fine. Try to change port in the router but same thing happen. Internet just crawl and sometime does not work at all.

I have run anti spyware and anti rootkit both say negative. I also run antivirus and it seems OK. Antivirus update seems run just fine. It just weird that it happen to both browser at the same time.

Any idea? Thanks in advance!

Solved, sorry all, I tried HideIP platinum and when I uninstalled, it leave proxy address on both firefox and IE.

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to setup a Print Server remotely - and the challenge that I am facing is that the Print Server is on a different sub-net (by default) than the main network.

The main network consists of the I.P. addresses: 192.168.174.0 to 192.168.174.254

The Print Server has a default I.P. address of: 192.168.0.10

Fortunately the remote location is using a Netgear SRXN3205 which supports Lan Multi-Homing.

I have added the address 192.168.0.1 to the router (as shown below) -

I have remote access to a Windows 7 computer, and I have tried adding a Static Route to it in order to reach the Print Server -

I have tried both of the following -

route add 192.168.0.10 mask 255.255.255.255 192.168.0.1

(above uses the Routers LAN Multi-Homing feature)

route add 192.168.0.10 mask 255.255.255.255 192.168.174.254

(above uses the Routers standard I.P. address)

** Can't reach the print server either through ping or a web browser with either of the above commands ***

If anybody has any suggestions on how I can reach the config page of the Print Server (TP-Link TL-PS110U) they will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Davo

Hi, I hope I have posted this in the right forum, apologies if I haven't. Here is the problem I'm having.

I bought a HP ENVY 17t just over a month ago. For the first week, 10 days, everything was fine, I have a good internet connection with TWC and the wireless modem/router I got was perfect.

Then I started to notice that I could not access some of my usual websites. I would type in the URL press enter then wait, and wait..... as opposed to just a day or so previously when I reached tte site instantly. Some of the sites would eventually, after a minute or so, some longer, appear, but then not completely, the graphics (pictures) were missing, links on the side of the pages were not there.

Initially I had thought that it was a problem with my internet connection so I called TWC. They checked at their end and then checked the modem/router, and pronounced that there was no problem with the internet connection. And sure enough, when I tried to download files from the office, I had no problems at all. I could access the servers and download large files without a problem, as fast as I did before the problem started.

I then called TP-Link. My Modem router is a TP-Link Archer CR700. I thought that there might be some kind of intermittent problem. They too checked everything with the modem, had me run some tests, and while the modem worked perfectly, I still could not access an ever increasing number of websites.

My Disk Usage and CPU columns of the task manager randomly jump up to 99% or even sometimes 100% which is unresponsive. This seems to happen more often when I run programs such as a malware scanner or League of Legends. My FPS in League stays around 1 when I do try to play and I'm assuming this is a related issue. I'm currently reading through other threads with similar issues but I thought I'd post my own for better results. Would it help if I included a screen shot of the task manager window?
