I'm trying to help a friend who has just installed Office 2016 on her computer, which was recently upgraded from Win7 to Win10.
She's been using Outlook.com and has accumulated a fair amount of email, contacts and calendar appointments. I've managed to get her email to show up by adding it to Outlook 2016 as a POP3 account. I was able to import her contacts into Outlook 2016 from a file called OutlookContacts.csv. Now I'm trying to get her calendar with all its many calendars and appointments into Outlook 2016.
I'm not sure why but the appointments all show up just fine in Mail and Calendar for Windows 10, even though we did nothing to put them there (as far as we know). But she'd like them to appear when she clicks on the Calendar in Outlook 2016 and I can't find any information on how to do that. I've also looked for some kind of Export function in the Mail and Calendar for Windows 10 app but I came up empty.
How do I get her calendar into Outlook 2016?
I can't be the only one who finds Microsoft *awful* at documenting this kind of basic functionality. Millions of people must have tried to do the same thing before me but if there's any information out there on how to do this, it has eluded me so far....
You can manually export calendars from Outlook.com using a round-a-bout method I posted at this link. However, I don't think that's going to help you because what you really want to do is set up Outlook 2016 so that her email, calendar and contacts sync with (and stay in sync with) her Outlook.com account.
Therefore, instead of setting email up as a POP account and then importing calendar, contacts, etc. separately, why not just setup Outlook 2016 to work with her Outlook.com account? I haven't done it with Outlook 2016, only older Outlook versions that used Hotmail Connector, however the following instructions for Outlook 2016 seem fairly straight forward.
If she has two-factor authentication switched on for her Outlook.com account, then you may need to generate an app password from her Outlook.com account, and use that as the password instead of the actual Microsoft Account password.
I have Outlook 2016 installed as part of Office on my Windows 10 computer and would like to import the 2016 contacts and calendar to the Windows 10 Mail app. I have searched to web for instructions for doing so but have not found an answer. I intend to use the Mail app on a W10 machine without Office installed.
Can this be done and how do I go about doing it?
Thank you very much.
A widespread problem? My Outlook 2016 Mail is performing normally in Windows 10 and syncing mail with my phone. However...I cannot sync my calendar or contacts into my Lumia 735. I get hints (nothing specific) from online searching that since my service provider (Time Warner) doesn't use MS Exchange, that the syncing can't be done. Can anyone verify that?
My mail is transferred cleanly, but contacts and calendar won't come over to the phone.
Any ideas about a solution?

my online outlook calendar does not sync with my Windows Calendar app. I am talking about the online calendar which can be accessed after sign-in here: Prihláste sa do svojho konta Microsoft which for me used to always take all the information from my desktop calendar app, and vice-versa, when I entered an event online, it also appeared in my desktop app. This was useful for syncing with my phone and generally accessing my calendar when not having my laptop on me. This is now impossible for me to do.
Now they don't sync and it's quite annoying, I am getting desperate and thinking of using some other app (if you have tips, tell me. I went through this: Resolve sync issues in Mail and Calendar apps in Windows 10 - Office Support it did not solve the problem. I have updates on (I apply them manually). I have Windows 10 all up to date. and all settings allow calendar to be synced. I checked if I am signed in to the same account, I only have one account in the app and the same one online.
Thank you in advance for any help.
Also, I am adding a picture if it helps, on the left is my calendar, when I access it online, on the right is my Windows App. You can clearly see that there is a lot more on the right. I just want the events to appear in the online calendar as well, as they did before...
Is there a procedure for syncing the calendar app in Win 10 with the Outlook 2013 calendar? I have been trying to sync my calendar in Outlook 2013 with my Blackberry Z30 in Blackberry Blend and Blackberry Link. So far I can only sync Windows 10 contacts with my BB Z30. Selecting the Calendar app isn't an option -- see the attachment. The Blackberry help and support sites are neither helpful nor supportive.
Not really. RIM software is hard to do. Try setting up the email settings with calendat on the phone. I know that howardforums.com is the best cellular forum that may still have their RIM forum up.
I use Sunrise with Chrome, so that I can sync my iCloud Calendar.
I do not like windows live mail. I find that is not very good. So I set outlook up with my hotmail account. But this has 2 seperate contact lists and 2 seperate calendars. I put my contacts into the new list, but is there any way of importing this stuff into outlook so i don't have to copy it whenever i add a new thing to the calendar?
From W Mail use file and import and export. From OUtlook, it should be the same.

I would like to publish an internal In/Out calendar to our company Intranet page, it is a very basic page with some simple links but I would like to have a graphic display of who is going to be out for the week from the shared in/out calendar and have not had a lot of luck trying to find a good way to implement it. Thank you.

Very strange problem. I'm running Outlook 2000 and I synch it with a Blackberry 7230. All functions work as advertised EXCEPT wireless export from handheld to PC only . In other words, the PC will synch (wireless) to the handheld with no problem, but not the other way around. When connected, all is well.
I've re-loaded all the software, tested the handheld with another users profile (worked fine) and I'm out of ideas.
Can anyone suggest what might be the problem?
Take a look at the user profile on Exchange that you are having issues with. Compare all the permissions to the users who are working.
Other option is to ensure that the Delete On feature is set for Mailbox and Handheld within the device itself (in Messages/Options, look below horizontal line).
If issues are more than just delete reconciliation, it may be an issue with the MAPI profile on the users PC. Sometimes I've seen corruptions in the original profile it uses.
Hope this is of use.
re-reading the post again, one quesiton - are the users who are working running the same version of Office on their desktops as you? If the issue is only with the calander, it may be the CDO.dll version installed on the BES server.
Any added info would help.
I have very limited knowledge when it comes to Macros and VBA.
What I need is one of two possible scenarios.
1. Information from a Training Assignment PivotTable exported to a shared calendar on Outlook.
2. Information from a Training Calendar bulit as a Macro in Excel exported to a shared calendar on Outlook and the ability to update either calendar if new information becomes available.
Don't know which is best using code via VBA or using the Export/Import functions.
Any help is greatly appreciated
I downloaded and ran AVG PC Tuneup and it cleaned up (by deleting) about 11,000 windows files and other files, as well as 'cleaned' registry keys, etc. Their customer support has been pretty useless and my laptop running win 7 has so many issues that I plan on doing a restore to the original image delivered 2 years ago. Windows backup shows my last backup as Sept 2013 - though I thought it was supposed to back things up weekly.
That being said, in Outlook 2010 (which I have the CD for) I have 3 mail accounts with lots of emails and contacts, as well as Calendar events that I would like to export and then import into a clean version of Outlook. (Note that the contacts may also be part of groups, etc. that I would like to keep intact). I have seen online info about exporting and creating a pst file for emails, but it seems that contacts and the calendar might be separate. I just want three files that will pull back my original folders, the emails in the folders, my calendar, the contacts for those accounts (separated contacts for each email accnt and any groups that they might be in), etc. Is there one function that will do this? Is this just a simple export to a pst or ??? I don't want to lose any data so want to do it right the first time.
Any input as to how I would do this would be greatly appreciated.
Before you change anything have you checked to see if you have a Recovery point that you can use.
Open Control Panel, select Recovery & see if there is a Restore point you can use that is before the current dilemma. It may save you a lot of work.
Our Windows Live Mail accounts receive blank messages when someone sends a calendar appointment request from an Outlook account. The same message arrives correctly in a gmail account or in my Outlook account at work. Is this a Live Mail Configuration issue?
Hi adfrench, welcome to Seven Forums.
You must sign-in to WLM with the same Outlook.com account your using for the calendar.
I have a user that works for a subsidiary of our company. He is not on our Exchange server, but uses a Business Mail account through 1and1. The account uses POP3/IMAP, unfortunately.
Now, his Outlook has two Profiles created for the same address. One is for in the office, using our Exchange server for outgoing messages. The other is the same account, but for being out of the office using 1and1's SMTP server. Apparently, there was some issues sending messages through 1and1's outgoing server from within our network.
The problem he is having is that he as a second Calendar showing, called Calendar - This Computer Only. Any meeting requests he accepts go here, and not his "online" Calendar. He can drag them over to Calendar, and they will sync to his phone, but is there a way to change the default Calendar without having to create/specify a .pst file?
I was using Outlook 2007 calendar and sync with google in my old computer. It worked fine. I did not successfully backup the outlook. Now, I am suing a new computer with vista. I am trying to sync google calendar with my outlook. It always pops this message out error:2016. I checked the error message online. It reads, "This error displays if you try to sync your events before signing up for Google Calendar. Please log in to Google Calendar at least once before using Google Calendar Sync." However, I tried logging in before I am doing sync, but it is still not working. Same error message pops up, always.
Birthdays are not showing in Live Mail calendar from my contacts.
I really need them to be showing.
How did you get the birthday information? Is it synced with Facebook?
If I enter an appointment on the native calendar app it is not pushing these appointments to other devices or even the browser outlook.com calendar view. Should it be doing so? It works the other way around. So if I enter an appointment on my phone (iOS) using the outlook setup on the calendar it does push the appointment to the calendar app on Windows 10. Just not other way round!
Ok, correction - it does work. Just took a while to push them out. About 30 minutes to come through. Pretty slow but at least it did it. Maybe servers are slow although I'm sure it's pretty instant the other way round !1 more replies
I can't get the popup reminders for the calendars to work. Neither in the Metro calendar nor in Outlook.
I also can't make them synchronize.
Does anyone know?
Do sound alerts exist at all in Windows calendars or just pop ups if any?
Windows 10 running Outlook 2016. When I did a fresh install I set up 3 email address and added my .csv files of contacts and calendar form prior install. I did not pay attention and Outlook 2016 assigned them to an email address I now wish to get rid of.
Did a web search and didn't come up with a good reliable way to transfer the folder to another email address PST file. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.
Using Windows 10 Calendar (Outlook) as my primary calendar. The calendar contains two accounts, my Microsoft Live Account and my Gmail Account. In the left panel, I have the Gmail Calendar checked ? the Outlook calendar is unchecked. When I add an event, the default dropdown is my Gmail calendar which is what I want as my default.
Events that I add to my calendar show up in both my Outlook calendar and my Gmail calendar as expected ? or maybe not quite as expected. I?ve just discovered that if I add an event several months in the future, it momentarily appears on my Outlook calendar and then is deleted (I see a brief deleted message appear). If I then go directly to my Gmail calendar, the event I just added shows up as expected. As of today (March 24), the cutoff date when the Windows/Outlook calendar automatic deletes begin to occur is September 7 (or 167 days from now). I haven?t yet experimented to see if the cutoff date moves forward every day.
Very strange. Anybody know what?s going on. If you have a similar calendar setup as mine, give it a try and see if your experience is the same. By the way, my Windows 10 system is fully updated.
I need a calendar program for my computer since I recently upgraded my computer with student office 2007, which doesn't have outlook like the 2003 edition. Can I have any suggestions? I don't want a web based program that needs that internet to function.

It seems that Google?s sync program just syncs it's calendar with the default Outlook calendar.

Re: Outlook 2003
Is there is a way to designate a Shared Outlook Calendar (that is used as our company-wide calendar) as an individual's default calendar. We are set up with a Microsoft XP Exchange Server.
The goal is to have the company-wide calendar download to a Blackberry Curve as the user's default calendar. Right now he sees his own calendar which he does not need. We have the Blackberry Desktop Manager installed on his network computer.
As an addendum, it would be preferable that the Outlook/Blackberry user not be able to modify the office-wide Shared Calendar (should there be a way for him to see it) so that all changes still go through our calendar maven. Thank you.
I have the syntax for copying the entry to another public folder but am wondering if anyone has a mock up of what the destination code would like to copy it to another mailbox via VBA?
Here is what I use for the public folder, which works fine right now:

My wife's set up her calendar on her Windows 8 laptop, and we'd like to share it so we can view it on our android phones.
Is it possible to transfer her appointments from the Windows 8 calendar to Google Calendar? Either by exporting or associating with the Google calendar?
Alternatively, can we share the calendar so we can view it on devices other than the laptop?
The calendar should be synced with a Microsoft Account which was either setup when the computer was first setup or one you used before then you will be able to sync this to your other devices.
Mobile - Outlook.com Help
Also you can go for adding you Gmail account to your Microsoft outlook.com account: (you will also find information around how to import/export calendars and possibly subscribing)
Add a Gmail account to Outlook.com - Outlook.com help
To Windows 8 outlook app you can also add your other accounts:
Mail App - Add an Account in Windows 8.1
If all your Windows Devices are windows 8 use the same live account if you log in with that or connect it your outlook app you will be able to view your calendar across the devices. Also on other operating systems you add your Microsoft outlook.com account.
I have been using Outlook 2003 for many years then upgraded to 2007, which I've used for years.
Typically I would enter appointments into my calendar in my Outlook 2007 and sync that with my phone....the blueberry or iPhone 3GS....I upgraded to the iPhone4 and have put appointments into my iPhone and synced my iPhone using iTunes (which normally syncs my Outlook calendar as well).
However, I've noticed recently some appt's put into my phone were not showing up on my Outlook Calendar....more snooping and I've just tonight discovered I have another calendar named iSync-Calendar.ics! Well, that's where many of my missing appointments were found!!
So I look closer at my iPhone4 and go to settings>calendar> and look for my default calendar which is iSync-Calendar.ics!!!
I am assuming that somehow that got switched, but used to be "calendar" which was outlook.
I am hoping this doesn't happen in the future..but for now I'm displaying both Calendar and iSync-Calendar.ics on Outlook so I can see all my appointments!!
Glad I caught that tonight as I have double and tripled booked some time slots in the future not seeing them on my iPhone since default calendar was iSynch and NOT calendar and vice versa!!!
Do you think I corrected the problem? Can I sync the iSync appts into or import them into my Calendar??
I have Outlook 2007 (via Office 2007). I am running Vista Ultimate 32-bit. I am about to set up my mail and calendaring clients.
I was just wondering if anyone uses the combo Windows Mail/Windows Calendar, and their impressions of them? Would you use them even if you had Outlook 2007 installed as well?
Just want to make the right decision the first time. I need Mail, Calendar, Tasks and Contacts -- Outlook 2007 has all that, but I didn't know if the separate programs had any benefits Outlook 2007 didn't.
So, this is about the integration between the two, of course. I have added the WL feed to OC and it appears there. Every task appears as an "all day" event. Then I uncheck the "all day" box, enter the respective time and make my schedule. And then, I guess at the next refresh from the WL feed, all events are back to "all day" :( Does anybody know how to deal with this? Or any reasonable way to put WL tasks into a(ny) calendar without having to jump through hoops? Thanks in advance!More replies

I am trying to determine if you can have mail delivered to a PST folder but have Calendar requests updated to the Exchange server calendar folder. I have an end-user who would like to maintain the setup where the mail goes to his PST file, but when he accepts appointments and etc. they should show up on the Exchange server Calendar so others can see his availability for meeting requests. Is this possible? In the past, I have advised users to have mail delivered to server and then move mail items to PSTs with rules or archiving to management storage.
That will work. The exchange server still gets updated it's just that all his mail/contacts/calendar will be saved to his local PST file instead of the server. However OWA will be blank for that user and he risks losing all his Outlook data is something happens to that PST file. I really don't see why he needs it that way.
Can someone advise if it is possible to view a Calendar (possibly shared) at the same time as having mail/folders open at the same time? i.e Mail folders showing on left and calendar on right?
I don't think you can do that with OL 2003.

I've had a persistent problem for several months since I migrated to a new hard drive. Outlook 2010 calendar is working, but only in Active List view. Any attempt to change to Preview or Calendar view produces the error message, "Could not read the calendar." Changing from Active List to List works some of the time, but inconsistently and sometimes it will hunt for the list and offer the same "Could not read the calendar." error message. This is very frustrating as I find it difficult to manage the list view and am accustomed to seeing the calendar week view.
I use an Android phone and use gmail and Google calendar to see mail and appointments on my phone. So, I've got Google Calendar Sync 0.9.4.1 running. Google Calendar Sync appears to be operating normally. I have a nice calendar view on my phone or web-based from my computer. I have tried adding the Google calendar to Outlook but it is a duplicate of the default calendar and I can't set it as the default. Also, MS Office does not permit me to delete the default calendar.
I don't like any of the work arounds. I just want the calendar to work like it should. Research discloses no real hint of anything that works including running scanpst. Scanpst does a great job at fixing the problem by wiping the whole calendar thanks very much MS.

is there any way to have the default Win8 mail tile open Outllok 2013-Mail, the calendar tile open the Outllok calendar and so on?
Hi, Creating a tile is not the Problem... The tile should Show updates like New Mails.
Only Windows 8 apps using WinRT can have live tiles.
Outlook 2013 isn't a WinRT apps. You should use the Mail apps (that can use any Exchange server) instead.
In tools/accounts/change I selected "Deliver my mail to a new location" and choose a PST file. That wasn't working well for me. So I switched it back to use the exchange server and instead set up a rule to move items from my inbox to my "inbox" folder in my pst file.
My issue is the residual calendar in my pst file. When a meeting notice goes to my "inbox" in my pst file and I accept it, it goes on the calendar in my pst file instead of the calendar in my exchange server.
How can I get rid of the calendar in my pst file that was created when I chose to deliver mail to that pst file?
Hope I'm making sense.

Have been trying for a while to sync windows 10 calendar on my laptop with windows 10 calendar on my wife's laptop. No luck so far.
I have linked both individual windows 10 calendars with our individual google calendars, and events transfer successfully from both windows 10 calendars, through both google calendars, but will not download to the other windows 10 calendar.
Is that clear?
What I am trying to say is that I can create an event on my windows 10 calendar, it transfers to my google calendar, and then to my wife's google calendar, but it does not load on to my wife's windows 10 calendar. This works both ways.
Help will be very much appreciated. Please note that while I use my laptop a great deal I have little insight into the technicalities. It's a tool!

Sync Window Live Mail client & Ipad/iphone calendar
I have been asked to setup a calendar synchronisation between a Windows Livemail client, and iphone and ipad
They are already using WLM client on PC connected to thier own domain for email, which has NO calendar sync possible , so i cannot change the client software
So i decided the easiest thing was to create a live mail account (outlook.com) and use that to sync all the calendars
Outlook.com account (set up specially for this sync) and synced from the windows live mail client to the outlook.com calendar and that all worked very well
WLM Client to ipad and iphone all worked
i do however have an issue
I setup the ipad and iphone using the hotmail option - I possibly should have chosen the exchange option
The issue an event created on the ipad or iphone calendar event is not synced back to the outlook.com / WLM calendar ,but they do sync with each other all OK
WLM ==> oulook.com === > ipad ==> iphone
all work that way
ipad ==> iphone OR iphone ==> ipad
all work ok
iphone/ipad created event == Does NOT update ==> wlm/outlook.com
if i setup an event in the WLM calendar, which syncs to all devices, I can then delete the event via the ipad or iphone - it is deleted from the WLM/outlook.com calendars - so the ipad/iphone is talking back to the outlook.com calendar for a delete action.
so what does not work is just that
an event created on ipad or iphone does not sync back to the WLM clie... Read more
i have solved the issue , and a really silly issue
I played today at my mother-in-law who has an ipad
and it all comes down to not selecting the correct calendar - i had not noticed birthdays was also selected
so i changed the new account to a Exchange account setting , and also notice i need to enter the info incorrectly first to then get prompted to enter the m.hotmail.com information
set the account up for just calendar
Set the calendar as default
and al works
just means she will only have 1 calendar , if she wants to sync between all devices

I frequently used the windows calendar in Vista. Is there a way for me to place the Windows Live calendar (by itself) as a desk top icon so I can more easily access my calendar?
Hi all, I.m back! I installed W10 about two weeks ago and all has been going reasonably well. This afternoon I tried to update my calendar and it would not display. Tried the W10 Mail app and got the same thing. (They both worked fine yesterday). Got into Outlook via the net and both calendar and mail working fine. I'd had this problem in W8.1 and fixed it by switching my account to Local user and back (rebooting after each change). That method doesn't work with W10 unfortunately. It's no huge loss because I use Thunderbird as mt mail client and have got another calendar app out of the store and connected it to Outlook. I'd still like to fix the microsoft appps though. Any ideas anyone?

I have Microsoft Works 9 and when I try to export a calendar as HTML it does not export correctly. If I want the export to begin with Sunday, it copies the previous week into the export. I have designated Sunday to be the beginning of the week. If I want to export July 5-11, the export ends up in the HTML file as June 29-July 11. Since posting this request, I've copied the html file into Microsoft Word and cut and pasted. It works, but is time consuming. If the program would export correctly, then I wouldn't have to go to all that trouble. Any suggestions?

My new laptop came with Vista Home. There are some useless programs like Windows Mail and Windows Calendar that came with it. I'd like to uninstall them, but they don't show up in Add/Remove Programs or in the list of Windows features to turn off/on. Anyone have any idea how to uninstall them? Thanks.
You can't, they are part of the operating system. Just don't use them if you don't like them.
I'm using Windows Live Mail in Windows 7 but have problems with the Calendar. For some reason when adding an event nothing shows in the Calendar. I have more than one calendar and have checked adding an event on each of them but the result is the same even though I complete each entry with Save & Close. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?
For the event to show up the Calender must be checked.
If you check multiple calenders each of their events will show but in different colors.

So...I can connect the iCloud account just fine in account settings. However, it doesn't show up in Calendar or Mail as an account I can view, yet it still shows up as properly connected in Settings. Suggestions? A quick google hasn't helped as it just suggested workarounds that result in read-only (not ideal) or things Ive already tried with no luck.
Posting solution here. If you have 2-step verification enabled on iCloud, you must log into iCloud -> account -> security/password -> generate app specific password and use that for Windows. It synced immediately after deleting and relinking iCloud account with that new app specific password.
WLM calendar used to send an email to my default address as a reminder of events, according to how I
I requested it.
How do I get Windows Mail to do this, I have set up events with a reminder over several days and
time frames, as I did with WLM but have not received any reminder emails.
Any help would be appreciated.
Does anyone actually know if you can sync Google calendars with windows 8 so that my appointments in my calendar on my android phone will be synced to the calendar app in windows 8.
I've read various articles on the fact that Microsoft has dropped Google sync and all them mention something about being unable to sync 'multiple calendars' god knows what this means though because I can't even sync one calendar never mind multiple?
Surely I'm not the only one having this problem?! There's nothing on the net to help with this problem and if anyone can help i would really appreciate it.
I've NEVER used forums before so apologies in advance if I've posted this in the wrong section.
Vista calendar had an option to subscribe to online calendars (e.g. Gcal). I'd love to be able to have my google calendars in a nice-looking desktop client, especially integrated with mail like Windows Live does. Unfortunately it looks like MS has taken that option away. Does anybody know about any hidden options or hacks to make this happen? Btw, I've tried thunderbird/lightning and sunbird. Not crazy about the UI/aesthetics. Prefer the way windows live looks and displays mail/calendars. Can I make this work with google? Thanks
Hello Welcome to SevenForums, bstarr3
Not sure about Live Mail, I do use live but not the calender. However if you did not know there is a tutorial here that lets you import vista's windows mail program.Would that be an work around for you? lm
I've just upgraded to Windows 7, and am using the Windows Live Mail application, which includes its own Calendar functionality.
For some reason, I can't find where to set an alarm/reminder for the events I put in the calendar.
For example, in the past, using Outlook and other calendar applications, when creating a new event or editing an existing event, one could specify to be given a reminder/alarm 0, 5, 10, etc. minutes before the event started.
I can't find this functionality in the Calendar application that comes with the latest version of Windows Live Mail. Am I missing something simple?

Frequent reader here, you guys and gals are great. Anyways, Even Google forums don't have the correct solution to sign in with another email address then return to the normal one. The problem is that with when you sign in with Google Calendar (all of a sudden) as a regular google calendar user, not an apps user, it gives a message saying Oops another Calendar has been created for... Then it disables a lot of the features. How do we get our calendars back, please help!
Thanks so much.
i want to change my microsoft works calendar from english to persian calendar, and change the start day from sunday to saturday, pleasr help me
I've been trying to solve this issue for hours and days and contacted Microsoft SUPPORT repeatedly but there support is trash and not being racist but its from India apparently and they have no clue what they're doing...
This has been bugging me really bad because I have a huge knowledge in computers and I still don't know what is causing this problem.
The problem I'm having is I'm using the Windows 10 Calendar App and it is synced to my Outlook.com browser through google chrome, please use the image as a REFERENCE.
As you can see from this image, the left side of my screen is the Win10 Calendar app and the right side is the browser. On my LEFT side, I have a Primary Calendar "Outlook" and UNDER it IS ALL my SECONDARY calendars. I created the calendars through the Outlook. Now I CAN'T DELETE any of the JUNK calendars. Simple as that. I can't delete the secondary calendars. I reserached everywhere there HAS to be a WAY..
My family uses the Windows Calendar to share our schedules with each other. I would like to to move the family to outlook but the problem is you need a server to share outlolok calendars. However I at least need to be in Outlook, is there a way for me to share their calendars at least?

My Wife uses WLM (Desktop) installed on her PC to access her Google email address.
A friend installed a Google calendar on her Desktop which is not linked to her Gmail account except for login purposes,
that is the Calendar is not available if you go to the Gmail account on the web.
Is there some way to sync the Google Calendar with the WLM (Desktop) Calendar?
If I have left out required information please let me know.
2 Options , export your google calendar and import it into calendar (WLM), but this will not keep it up-to date as it's a 1 time import , or subscribe to the google calendar from within calendar (WLM)
Step by step instructions here.

I noticed google no longer supports active sync, as of Jan this year?
So is there no way for me to sync my mail/contacts and calendar with the builtin windows 8 apps on my pc?
Gmail still works fine in the latest Mail app. I can even create new folders now and they show up in Gmail at the Gmail website.
For Google calendar I added my Google calendar to my Outlook.com (Windows Live/Hotmail) calendar and the Google calendar appointments still show up in my Windows 8 calendar app. Can't sync them from there anymore though. I thought my Google contacts imported ok, but just checked now and they seem broken?
I'm almost positive that once I completed an event on the Windows Live Mail Calendar on my desktop that it would update the calendar online. I just checked and it hasn't. I did reformat my pc in Oct. Is there something that I'm missing? I looked for "import" or something similiar online, but cannot find it.
I scrolled back months in 2011. There are no events showing up. I'm confused. When I reformatted and added Windows Live Mail again, it imported all my calendar events from online to my pc version of Windows Mail. If nothing is showing up, how'd it know what to import?1 more replies
We use the shared calender in Gmail for keeping track of company events etc. but at this stage we need something better as we have more events to keep track of and more departments getting involved etc. Is there anyway of making the basic Gmail calendar into an updateable spreadsheet calendar that can be accessed by the entire office and/or specific department?
This is all new to me so really glad to get any advice.
Get the corporate version of Gmail.
For anyone who syncs the Metro Calendar app with Google Calendar, does it show more than just your primary calendar? Mine only shows my primary and it's a little sparse because of it.

I use Outlook as my email client. Up until recently when I displayed email messages a 2 month calendar would appear on the left and I could set up appointments using it. Now it has disappeared and the only way I can get to the calendar function is to select from the menu.
How can I recover the calendar as showing with my email message list??

I have an HP SPLIT 13-M121. I just upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. I can't open my Outlook 2007 Calendar or Contacts. All my contacts were in 'contacts in iCloud.' I also had a problem with sending mail but running the 'scannow' command as system administrator solved that. I ran it 4 times but it didn't fix the contacts/calendar problem. I get an error message 'The set folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened.' I can navigate to the Outlook.pst file on my pc but when I try to open it, I get a message warning me that it's a system file and asking what app i want to use to open it.
I'd be very grateful for any help!
I have several calendars under one Google Calendar account (usually by school subject and other important matters) but Metro Calendar app only syncs one default calendar, which I only use it to note Holidays.
Is there a way to sync all Google Calendars using Metro Calender app? Thank you!!
Does anyone know of a way to synchronize any local calendar client (like Outlook, Sunbird, or iCal) with any web based calendar (like Yahoo! Calendar or Google Calendar) automatically (i.e. without exporting and uploading .ics files)?
Yahoo does it
I uploaded my school calendar to my google calendar so I can see it in my android phone but i had to delete it because there was a problem with it. When I try to upload it again I get the following error message :"Failed to import events: Some of the events in this file were not imported because you had imported them to Google Calendar before. Other events in this file have been imported.."
I have looked around online and some people said to open the file with text edit and delete the "UID." I did that but it did not help. Other people say to create another calendar and share it but that is also giving me problems.
Does anyone know how to get around this problem. I really need to have my calendar in my personal calendar that I have for my google account so I can keep my self sane and not get lost in grad school. Thank you for all your help.
Outlook 2007 running under Exchange server. We have a shared calendar used by all employees to show when they will be out of the office... vacations, part time, etc.
We also have Resource Mailboxes in Exchange so that when you click on the "Rooms" button when setting up an appointment, you can see the room schedule, then add your appointment to the room by inviting the room as an attendee.
The boss wants to do something similar with the shared calendar. When she puts an appointment on her private calendar that will take her out of the office, she wants to be able to press the equivalent of the "Rooms" button and have that appointment be automatically copied to the shared calendar so that everyone can see that she will be out of the office.
I've been trying to do a web search but unfortunately the search terms I have been using keeps telling me how to set up calendars, not how to pull off this trick.
Information greatly appreciated. TIA.
I have outgrown the default mail and calendar applications that come with Vista Home, and was planning on purchasing MS Outlook 2007.
However I wanted to find out if Outlook will recognize the .ics files if I attempt to import them? (or if a wizard will copy them and pull them into Outlook?)
I REALLY do not want to have to manually redo my entire calendar...
Sadly trying to get an answer from MS Sales Dept. was like drawing water from a Mirage...
Thanks in advance.
According to what I have read, both Windows Live Calendar and Outlook 2007 support .ics files.
However, you may want to copy your ics file and then import the copy and/or you may see if you can export your calendar in another format (I really must admit my absolute ignorance here!)
I have Outlook Professional edition 2003 and windows xp professional. I want the day of the week to show along with the date on the Outlook calandar and on the date & time area of the windows taskbar. I have looked in the Control Panel under Date & Time and of course in the tools of outlook, but there is no option to turn on/off the day of the week. Otherwise the date is accurate & there are no problems with it. Anyone know how to adjust this? Thanks!

I have an Windows (Vista) notebook with outlook 2007, and now I have an new notebook with Windows 8.1. Where I want to export my mail & contact to Windows live mail, how can I import this in WLM on my other notebook?
I already have configure my mail on WLM where I can receive and send messages. I tried something with the program Mailstore 8 but my mail is now on another computer.
I also find this link: how to export mail, calendar contact in outlook to windows live mail clientWith the "Outlook Conversion Application" solution but is this possible on different computers and has WLM an import function?
Don I might be way off track here mate but was the Outlook account the same email address as you have set up in WLM?
Just a thought you might try adding an account to WLM using the old address and password. I did this with my old account from my service provider then went to a Hotmail account.
Now admittedly it was still within WLM but worth a try.
What I will do is try and add my work account (Outlook) to my WLM and see if it works.
PS It added the account but I have to get the POP and STMP settings right first.
Is there a way to have Outlook 2010 sync it's To-Do bar with a Windows Live webmail calendar?
I'm using Outlook 2010+latest version of Outlook Connector +Windows Live webmail. Calendar sync works fine in both directions but the Outlook To-Do bar only displays upcoming events from the local "Outlook" calendar, not my @live.com calendar (even though in the Outlook calendar pane the local calendar is unchecked and the @live.com calendar is checked).
You can definitely do that, here's how:
1. Click on the File tab.
2. On the Info screen (should be the default one that appears after clicking "File") click the "Account Settings" drop-down button.
3. Then click on "Account Settings" to go to the Account Settings screen.
4. Once at the Account Settings dialog box, click the "Data Files" tab.
5. Select your default e-mail account that you wish to sync your calendar with. (This would be your @LIVE account.)
6. All set! Enjoy your new To-Do bar with updated @Live calendar information.
This will also change a couple other beneficial settings, such as auto-recognizing contacts that are on your LIVE e-mail account.
From Microsoft Outlook:
"The default Outlook Data File contains the calendar that appears in the To-Do Bar and settings for Favorites, shared folders, and RSS feeds."
Hope that works!
Recently a Windows Defender definition update has been automatically applied to my Win 7 system. Immediately after this I am unable to access my calendar in Outlook - email, tasks etc all ok, just when accessing my calendar Outlook hangs and I have to kill it off. I have reset my laptop to a known, safe restore point several times but each time the update occurs and the problem re-occurs.
I do not run automatic updates but this one is seen as citical and is applied. I have even tried to hide the update but no luck.
Anyone else having the problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?
When I access outlook on the web, I have the option of creating a new calendar. I use this to separate the type of events I put on my calendar. I have the holiday one, of course, but I also have one I use to keep all my school classes and events in, so they're a different color than everything else. I then just made one for 'special' events, because I've got an increasing amount of such events, like musical dates, opera dates, my nephew's boy scout events, etc, that I want to have show up separate from my classes. I want to be able to filter which sort of events show up, and I can on outlook.com. That's not my problem. I just click 'new calendar' and I can customize these sort of events.
However, the problem shows up when I go to the calendar app for windows 10. I use it a lot- a LOT -and it does show different calendars on the side bar. It's got my main outlook calendar, my 'birthday calendar', and the holiday calendar to choose from. I can filter one out, or let them all show up, etc. But those are the only three that show up. My 'special events' calendar and my 'classes' don't show up on the sidebar there. I thought maybe I just needed to wait until it automatically synced with outlook, but when it did, all my classes and special events disappeared completely. These two new, customized calendars don't sync with the app, and the events that are on those calendars disappear.
Is there a way to make these new calendars show up on the Windows 10 app, or do I just need to wait? ... Read more
I have a Motorola Q9M smart phone and Vista and the Windows Mobile Device Center. It has always (for a year) run fine and syncing has been smooth and easy. Suddenly, my outlook calendar randomly won't sync SOME appointments. I tried to see if I could see a pattern but none obvious. It seems that some appointments sync while others don't. Anyone have any ideas!! Thanks!!
I've been syncing a Windows Phone with my Outlook calendar and contacts for many years, but the last few weeks it seems to be not syncing events.
For example, two weeks ago I entered a new Calendar item for today on my phone, but it has still never appeared on the desktop. The item appears in the correct default "Calendar-Outlook" on the phone, in the same color as the default calendar items which have synced from the desktop. When I check the Calendar at outlook.live.com, the event appears correctly, in the same color as the rest of the default calendar items.
I have on my desktop PC: Windows 10, Outlook 2013, Hotmail Connector to sync. I do not have an Exchange account.
Phone is Lumia 1020 running Windows Phone 8.1.
T-mobile is my provider, which has been having multiple connection issues in my area lately, which might be unrelated, but voicemails and texts are delivered 1 to 24 hours late.
(I do not sync my email from Outlook to my phone, in case that is relevant.)
I tried to search for an answer on my own, but the search terms are too common. Any help would be very appreciated!
Windows 7 Mail + Windows Calendar
Outlook Express was sacked by the advent of Windows Vista, which first appeared in the new program "Windows Mail" (improved version of the old OE). Unfortunately Windows 7 basic installation does not contain any mail client. By default, M&C app will install an outlook account according to your sign in. I sign into W10 with a non MS account "[email protected]" so my default account is listed like this, I can't seem to straighten it out/ delete/change it. Suggestions appreciated.
Hi where Account Name shows
It Shows Outlook
On Mine when I click in there I could alter it to what ever I want
So where Outlook is are you able to click in there and alter it to Gmail
Then click Save
To get to that you need to open Mail App
Scroll down to Settings
Then you can do the above
I have been using Windows Live Mail 2012 as my email client for years. Due to Microsoft changes I decided to switch to Outlook 2016. I have installed Office 365 Personal, taking advantage of the free one year subscription, although I am considering cancelling and deleting it and purchasing the standalone Outlook 2016 product. When I registered for this forum I selected Office 2016 as my product since Office 365 Personal is not an option.
I have been trying for days to set up Outlook 2016, with no success. I've researched every article and forum I can find for answers, to no avail. I've downloaded every troubleshooter and analytical tool I can find while trying to configure Outlook 2016. I've read every tutorial I can find. I am trying to set up Outlook 2016 for two sbcglobal.net accounts and several live.com, msn.com, outlook.com and windowslive.com email accounts. One of my windowslive.com accounts is also my Microsoft email account.
I can't import WLM email accounts or email messages from WLM into Outlook 2016. I can't export WLM email accounts or email messages into Outlook 2016. I've received just about every error message imaginable, including "The export could not be performed. Your default MAPI store could not be opened.", "Cannot connect to server", "Oops, something went wrong" and other error messages.
I have received the test messages sent from Outlook 2016 to the sbcglobal.net email accounts but that's as good as... Read more
I've just done a clean install of Windows 10 on another PC; I've also installed Office 2016.
After all the fuss created with previous version of Outlook, I can't believe that Outlook 2016 still doesn't have an option to Export Account Settings. Has anyone got a way to do this?
When you open the File menu in Outlook 2016 you should get an option to export:

I have a weird issue. My mail and calendar app will not launch.
This started happening on Friday 7 August 2015 after the first cumulative update. I am on Windows 10 Home 64 bit. I have a Sony Vaio laptop and my installation is an upgrade from Windows 7 Home.
Out of all my apps it's only these 2. I click on the icon and nothing happens. It won't load and then fail, it just doesn't do anything. Another weird behavior I am noticing is that when I right click the icon for Mail or Calendar (it happens on both) the option to "pin to taskbar" has gone. Pin to start is there. This is the only app this happens on.
The other thing which is happening if in the Event Viewer under "Applications and Services Log/Microsoft/Windows/Apps/Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational" where app launching is logged.....instead of it saying:
The app microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe!microsoft.windowslive.mail was activated for the Windows.Launch contract successfully.
The app Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy!CortanaUI was activated for the Windows.Launch contract successfully.
I have tried WSRESET, and also "Get-AppxPackage *communi* | Remove-AppXPackage" reboot, and then reinstall Mail and Calendar app.
Any help would be so appreciated
ok this works. There must have been an update as the install file has changed from under 179 mb to 180 mb:
1.Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell in the search bar.
2.Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
3.Enter the below command to reinstall the Mail and calendar app.
get-appxpackage *microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps* | remove-appxpackage
After performing the above steps, install the Mail and calendar app form the Windows store.
I usually help my elderly mother out when she has problems with her computer but this time I have no clue what could be going on here. She can't get her MAIL or CALENDAR programs to work. If you click on the icon, nothing happens at all. I tried everything I could think of but no good. This seems so unusual to me. BTW, she has Windows 10 Home installed. She is not a member of the Insiders Program.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have 2 suggestions :
Method #1.................A troubleshooting method.
Run system file check to look for corrupt files.
Right click at Start button > click Command Prompt (Admin) > at the flashing prompt, copy/paste this.......
> press Enter.
It will take quite sometime.
When finished, it will give you one of the 3 reports...............(paraphrasing)
1. No integrity violation.
2. Found corrupt files and repair successful.
3. Found corrupt files but unable to repair.
If report is #2. Go check if mail can be opened now.
If report is #3, please post back.
Method #2.................................. uninstall Mail and Calendar and then reinstall from Windows Store.
Use this tutorial :
Apps - Uninstall in Windows 10
Go to Option Two
Scroll to (To remove Calendar and Mail app from current account only) and use the command.
After uninstall, go to Windows Store and reinstall Mail and Calendar.
A recurring issue with me, The calendar, Mail and People apps on my desktop have ceased working. I have tried all my previous fixes to no avail (they have all worked at various times in the past) I will list them below so we don't waste time going over things already tried.
1. Converted to a Local Account, rebooted, converted back to MS Account and rebooted - no effect.
2. Uninstalled Mail/Calendar using Powershell (People no longer seems part of that package and didn't uninstall). Re-installed from Store - no effect.
3. Ran SFC/Scannow from command prompt - no issues found
4. Tried the only System Restore point I had (yesterday's!) - no effect.
Anybody got any suggestions? Everything else, including the Store, is working just fine. Tearing my hair out here!
I have a new computer that came with W10 installed. Now one week on the above apps fo not launch. I have run System file Checker that reported it had found and repaired corrupt files (already!!). However the apps still do not launch. Any ideas?
Use this tutorial to UNinstall Calendar and Mail.
Apps - Uninstall in Windows 10
Look for (To remove Calendar and Mail app from current account only) and use that command line on your Windows PowerShell.
After that, go to Windows Store and reinstall Mail and Calendar.
