View refresh in file explorer

Q: View refresh in file explorer

In W7 I could refresh the file list after deleting files using the view menu and the refresh option.
W10 does not remove deleted files from view at once nor does it have a way of doing it manually that I can find.
I can't believe it no longer exists.
Thanks

Ok, apparently I've been just reading here for years and didn't register. Silly me - Sorry! It's an attestment as to how good the site is really. Anyway, I think this is my first question and I am soo appreciative of all the great advice found here it's saved me many times. Thank you!

In XP's Win. Explorer when deleting a file I have manually do View | Refresh in order to really see it is gone. Most people are used to it just disappearing, and don't believe that delete still really works like it used to. The view refresh thing is getting old. Is there any way to make the refresh automatic when something is deleted? I have tried setting all folders to be alike and checked all the "classic" settings for file handling (details etc.) Thanks - yep as you can figure I'm new to XP.

I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 this week and have a fully updated installation now with minimal programs installed. My problem is this, I have my downloads folder set to sort files by date created, from newest to oldest so I can easily find my newest downloads as they should be at the top of the listing, but Windows explorer will not refresh the view if I have have explorer open, forcing me to either manually refresh it or go to another folder, then come back which updates the view. I never had to do this with the old win 8 pro installation and have tried resetting the folders several times but it still won't update by itself. I do have the latest version of Start8 installed, but that never caused a problem before.

Hope someone can offer some help or maybe point me in the right direction.

A:Win 8.1 64 bit file explorer won't refresh

I am having the exact same problem, and I use the File Manager a lot. It's really very frustrating. If anyone has a solution (nothing to be found on the internet so far) please PLEASE post it!

Edited: I found an odd quirk about it. If you go to any folder which is pinned, or any folder in your Favorites, or access a folder in any way (even from the start screen) you will have this problem. However, by right clicking on the folder icon in the task bar, and clicking "File Explorer" and navigating to it via your Libraries or the hard drives, this won't happen. What a pain, but it's at least one helpful thing. So, if you start your browsing that way, you can navigate around and you're okay. But if you start from a shortcut, it doesn't work.

Sorry for my amateurish question, but my workplace is using Windows 7 and I am discovering some things that are different to XP.

When delete a file, windows explorer does not show that the file has been deleted.

I have to press F5 in order to show that it has been deleted.

Is there something I am doing wrong?

Cheers,

Hi again Lee. This seems to be a common occurance and I've not seen a fix for it other than what you are doing, refresh explorer. This happens with my PC as well.

When I open a Windows Explorer window, on the left column there are the usual Favorites, Libraries, Computer and finally Network. Click on network and after what appears to be a brief scan, it will show a nice list of all the computers connected along with Media Devices.

But sometimes, some of the other computers drop off. I seem to notice this after mine wakes from sleep mode (and perhaps some of the other computers have been off and on. It doesn't refresh the network list. Mine shows up, but nothing else.

If I reboot, everything shows up again. But I don't want to do that all the time. Is there a way (command) that will refresh the list manually?

I have searched G and cannot find any definitive answers so it seems as if the answer is "No, it can't" The main thing that keeps me questioning this matter is the fact that when I load a SD card and copy files to it, the directory does not refresh automatically. Therefore, there must be a way to turn off the Auto-Refresh for the HDD files.

Has anyone successfully achieved this or officially debunked the possibility?

I am troubleshooting an issue for a neighbor. When using File Explorer (or while on the desktop), if he tries to delete a file or folder, rename it, move it, etc. the open file explorer window (or the desktop) does not change to reflect the action unless he refreshes the windows (or desktop) by hitting F5 (or for the desktop right clicking and selecting Refresh).

Any advise would be appreciated.

Hi there,
Since this afternoon, I've updated two of the computers at home from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. Since then, i tested them and everything is fine on the first one (except a little bug with the address bar in Google Chrome) but not on the second one.
Let me explain you what the problem is. In the File Explorer, each time i scroll down to any location in the folder, it's scrolling up after a few seconds, but also prevent me to rename a file or a folder, because when I do, it seems some kind of refresh happens and I'm back to the top of the window and the file name (or folder name) is again in view mode.
Can you help me ?
Thank you in advance,
Kind Regards,
Meng Yi

I recently had to do a system restore and now my .jpg and jpeg files have a bad file icon. They still do open with the windows pic program as I want them to - but only on the admin accout, I usually surf and play and do everything else with a user account, and even if I reset everything under folder options for the file associacions it somehow doesn't apply to the other account.
The funny thing is that windows tells me in the file association menu that I changed the file association's properties and can set them back to standart "photo suite 6" - a program that I uninstalled ages ago ... can I somehow set this back to the normal winxp picture and fax displaying thing?

I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
One of the greatest problems now is that whenever I use files and folders (moving, renaming, deleting...) there is NO automatic change in file explorer, desktop or recycle bin unless I refresh them manually. Is there a fix for this ?

A:Automatic refresh doesn't work in File Explorer, Desktop, Recycle etc.

You can try
SFC /Scannow
from an elevated command prompt.

Then there's
DISM - Repair Windows 10 Image - Windows 10 Forums

Failing that, you could try an in-place upgrade repair install.

But I understood from your other post you are trying to upgrade to the anniversary edition. If you can succeed with that, that may well resolve that as you will have a new copy of Windows, unless the problem is caused by a setting which is copied over.

Note that the anniversary edition resolves the bug where an item is deleted from explorer search list and the display was not refreshed.

Hi, I'm new to Vista and a few things are bothering me at the moment:

1) If I set my current folder to "list" view and then go and "apply current settings to all folders"... in XP this would do just that: put every single folder on all my disks in "list view" by default. Unfortunately, Vista still seems to try to display what it considers "media folders" as "tile view" until I manually change each one to "list" view. Do I have any way to set them all to list as I intend?

2) When I turn on the "status bar" in flie explorer, it does indeed show the status bar, and if I click on a file it will show the size of that file in the status bar. In XP however, if no file was selected it would show the combined size of all the files in the folder, and if I selected a specific group of files it would also show their combined filesize. Neither of these seem to show up on the status bar in Vista.

3) Is there any way to prevent folders from "lighting up" as you move the mouse over them? I would call this "pre-select highlight" after a similarly named (and similarly disliked) feature in a CAD program I use.

4) This one is kind of stupid, but sometimes due to all my external drives, I like to have a long (tall) but narrow vertical window, where the folder names just fill up the width. If I scroll down the list and either delete or rename something, the whole list apparently disappears, but ... Read more

Hi everyone, I recently setup an FTP server using this genius little piece of hardware called CloudFTP (now called iUSBport as of today, LOL).

Anyways, I can access my CloudFTP just fine through my smartphone, using a file explorer app w/FTP ability.

My question is, is there a downloadable Windows 7 file explorer freeware/software app that can do exact the same thing as my Android? Currently, I am only able to access the CloudFTP via Windows through the Google Chrome browser, but the interface is.... dismal, to say the least.

I work with a lot of animation sequences, and when using Win explorer it has always irked me that if I want to view anything but list or details view then the filenames are truncated.

This is a problem because the sequences I work with often have long(ish) names and numerically iterated, generally being suffixed by a padded number.

Is there a way that I can view tiles, or content, or icons without having the filenames truncated?

(Bonus question: how come sometimes I get the option to view 'content' and other times the option is not there?)

Thanks peeps.

Curt.

Example image of what I'm talking about:

A:Windows explorer - How do I view full file names AND see an icon

You could try these options:
Increasing the Icon Spacing (horizontal and vertical) can allow for longer filenames.
Setting the icons to the largest size can also allow you to view longer names.
Also you could use Details view and have the Preview Pane active.
That program seems to be using the old style Windows dialogue boxes, so I'm not sure if any of the options (I listed above) will have much effect.

This has stumped me so good I actually signed up to a forum... Hey guys..

Long story short.. "Show Libraries" refuses to work in File Explorer

I've done this.. And it doesn't do anything. It doesn't even leave a check or anything.

I've done this.. And while it leaves a check showing it's "working".. It still isn't showing my libraries

I've also done this.. It checks, I hit apply, ok to close the box and nope.. If I re-open the folder options again the box is unchecked.

The only way in File Explorer I can get it to show my libraries is use "Show All Folders".. Which I don't want to do.

The strangest part is.. In the OPEN Dialog (the dialog that opens if you want to browse files to upload to say, imgur).. It works as it should..

I've done a sfc /scannow and it comes out clean.. I have no idea how File Explorer got so corrupt. Windows updates are all current, etc..

Hello eveyone,

I have a stumper for you gurus. I have just put new 60GB hd in one of my computers, installed Windows XP home SP2, and have Yahoo! as my home page. The correct url, http://www.yahoo.com, is displayed in the address bar, but the screen is still blank, until I click refresh, then it comes up. If I set my home page to any other home page, it comes right up first try. Then it gets even spookier. From the "other homepage" say MSN, if I type in your URL "www.yahoo.com", Yahoo will come up first try, but if I close my browser, open up MSN again, type in yahoo's url in the address bar, the page comes up blank and this time the title bar still has MSN's url on it, and Yahoo's url in the address bar. If I hit refresh, then Yahoo's hompage comes up. This is quite maddening and Microsoft is saying that it is on your end as it does not happen on any of my other computer I have with you as my homepage. Hi,

When I initially check the disk size (while the folder is being viewed in Icons View), the disk size reads 28,415,404,695 bytes.

When I change it to Thumbnail View, the disk size increases to 28,415,444,631 bytes.

I know it's only a 39,936 byte difference but I'm just wondering where this is coming from? When I change it back to Icons View, it still reads 28,415,444,631 bytes. How do you get it back to the original 28,415,404,695 bytes?

Hello everyone. I'd like to know why win7 64bit decides by itself to auto refresh a window minute and literally the next second or two later it does not.
Lets say, I save a pic from the net, just before I go into the browser I already have my downloads folder open. I go back to the browser save another pic or anything, I go back to the folder and the pic or whatever is not there, so i have to refresh myself. I was just in that folder 10 seconds ago I seen no reason for it to not refresh now when it just did it 10 seconds ago. Now, I have not changed any setting regarding this or any explorer action. A:Explorer windows auto refresh then don't auto refresh. Why?

We have a thread for this kind of thing. I can't find it at the moment. I think unsubscribed from it on accident, but I'm pretty sure its in general discussion. Explorer is working like it always does. It can be annoying that it doesn't always refresh, but I'm sure you can find a pattern, like how many added files it takes or how long it takes to "auto-refresh". The reason you don't here anything bad about Windows 7 is for three reasons. 1) you haven't looked hard enough. There are plenty of news stories with Mac lovers saying its Vista with a new paint job. 2) XP was as unstable as Charles Manson on Crack at the best of times when it first came out. 3) Vista was, well Vista. MS claimed it would run fine on 512MB of RAM, so people were installing it on old computers, and new computer were being bought that were seriously underpowered. When it wouldn't run worth a crap, everyone hated it. Not to mention the incompatibility issues that no one saw between 2000 and XP. If you didn't use Vista at all, the changes do seem a lot more drastic. If you don't like it, go back to XP SP3. Problem solved!!!!!!!

Also, I'm noticing a lot of pictures don't want to display. This seems to have started happening at the same time as the refresh trouble, but I dont know that they are related.

This just started happening all at once, and Ive made no changes to my machine. I cleared the cache to make sure it wasnt calling the pages up off of my computer.

The tech guy in the building mentioned installing new software for the network. I dont know what that means exactly, but I imagine there is some setting wrong on their end making this happen. Either way, if its my fault or theirs, its exremely annoying.

If you know what might be causing this, please let me know.

When I change the settings for Windows Explorer, i.e. the background colour or the picture that is displayed, the only way I can get these changes to appear is by logging off and logging back on.
Is there anyway to force Explorer to apply these changes instantly?

Hey there,

I'll try to describe my problem as good as i can: When downloading a file with firefox to my desktop or extracting an archive like zip or rar on my desktop, the file wont appear. Im doing all this directly on the desktop, not in windows explorer.
I always have to press F5 to see them.
But on the other hand: when zipping a file or folder directly on my desktop, the new archive appears.
Downloading files with IE8 works as a charm.

This is so frustrating and annoying, i never had this problem on vista.

Restarting explorer.exe solves the problem for this one session. After a restart the problem reappears.

The same thing happens on my notebook with completely different hardware and drivers. So i think its Windows-related. If i boot my system in safe mode, everything works fine. I already disabled/uninstalled all unnecessary software such as firewall and av scanner, but the problem remains. The creation of another user account showed the same behaviour. What else could i do?

Thanks!

Phil

Sorry for the double post, i solved the problem for myself. It was the fault of Acronis True Image 2009 build 9646. TI is integrated into windows explorer for browsing images, that seems to cause the problem. Uninstallation cleared the issue for me.

I have a problem whenever i open a folder with video files (.avi etc) and sometimes but rarely a folder containing just audio files. As soon as i open the folder it vanishes then the screen refreshes and i end up back on the desktop . Also a few of my icons have vanished from the bottom right of the Start bar next to the clock. My PC has been running slower than it should too with the fans having to run quite a lot more than usual.

Another thing is i dont know if its related to this but my DVD RAM drive slows my PC to a snails pace if i insert a CD/DVD. It takes about 2 hrs to burn a simple 16 song audio CD for instance.

In Device manager all is as should be and saying everything is working perfectly.

The attached file (JPEG) is of a message that very briefly flashes up on my screen straight after it refreshes.

I have cleaned my registry with Reg Mechanic and run spybot - Search & Destroy and that found a few things that it has cleared now. Both of my drives don't need defragging as i do them once a week so they are fine. Panda AV+F 2007 doesn't find anything when i run full scans on both drives.

Hello,

I have a dell dimension 3000 running windows xp pro.

The problem is this:
Each time I move, created, delete, rename a file, the aforementioned change does not show up graphically until I either right click / refresh or press F5. For example, if I right click on the desktop and select "new > text document" nothing happens until I press F5 and only after doing so does a text document icon appear. Same thing with dragging things to the recycling bin or right click > delete. It occurs in any file folder or explorer window as well as on the desktop. This is becomming a major annoyance.
I have viewed every available help menu and microsoft knowlege article. I have viewed hundreds of other instances of other people posting this exact symptom and read through all peoples' suggested fixes. I even recently installed brand new RAM to see if that was possibly the problem. No such luck. I have tried all other avenues of support that I could think of (without actually ASKING for help as I am doing now). I have researched this issue exhaustively and have not found a viable solution yet. ANY insight that you could offer would me much appreciated.

Am I the only one who has to refresh windows explorer after every single action. When I move a file to a folder, create a folder, rename a folder, delete a folder, anything I need to refresh the. I didnt realize this at first and created seven new folders at one point. it wasn't until I left the folder I was in and came back to it that I realized what was going on. Is this a glitch. Its a pretty big hassle trying to create several folders and trying to name different sections and having to refresh windows explorer to drag and drop any items into them. I don't think my HomeGroup directories (shared with homegroup pc's) even when no homegroup pc's are logged in, get refreshed properly in Explorer(x64). When I delete a file in a homegroup directory it does actually delete but the screen doesn't refresh to display that the file is gone. Other non-homegroup directory refresh instantly.
Hitting refresh in Explorer does show that the file is gone.
Anyone else have this issue ? Is it a MS bug ?

A:HomeGroup Directories don't REFRESH in Explorer x64

There is a reason for this. Remember that the library folders only point to the actual file and isn't the actual file itself. When you delate things from the library you will not get the results you want unless you go into the actual file location where the file resides.

For instance, to properly delate a music file you would need to go into "user name" "my music", not the library but the actual file location, and delate it from there. You will then notice that the file was removed from the libray folder on all machines. The empty folder will remain but the file will be gone from all library's.

After maybe 5-10 minutes of dealing with this problem, it seems to sometimes go away. Other times I reboot to end the problem. Also it seems that this problem arises when working with my computer after it has been asleep.

Hi,
We have WINDOWS XP OS on my system. We have a problem with auto refresh in windows explorer.
We have a folder that is mapped to network location. We have this problem only with the network mapped drive.
As soon as we rename any file, the file is moved to the last in the folder. We do not want this behavior. The file
should be in the same place where it was before renaming.

For example,
we have the following files in the folder in the same order
abc.pdf
fgh.pdf
zyx.pdf

if we rename the file 'fgh.pdf' as 'fghxyz.pdf' then the order will be
abc.pdf
zyx.pdf
fghxyz.pdf
we do not want this type of behavior. The file should be at the same place where it was before renaming.
Any ideas to disable this behavior?

Thank you in advance,
Raheem MA

Howdy people.

I have a small issue with one of my users' PCs.
Sometimes, when he inserts a CD, or ejectes the CD, Internet Explorer refreshes the page he's on.
You wouldnt think that thats a big issue, but he uses a VPN that is initiated from that webpage, and when it refreshes, it drops the VPN.

It only seems to happen on the site that initiates the VPN, I tested google.com and it didnt happen.

The CD in question this time contained pictures, and nothing else, no autorun file or anything.

I'm stumped, Can anyone offer any thoughts??

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I have an ADSL connection (one-tel in the UK) set up as an encrypted WAN via a D-Link wireless router. Utilising the connection I have two laptops running XP SP2 with wireless dongles. The problem I have is that when attempting to open a site in any browser I have to refresh a number of times before I can successfully open the site. I also sometimes have to run send/receive a number of times in Outlook 2003 before I can successfully connect to the mail server. I am also unable via the WAN to connect to the Symantec live update server but the problem is not replicated with a direct connection.

Both machines are free of any spyware/malware and otherwise are running fine.
The WAN is encrypted and is not being 'used' by any third party.
Signal strength is very good.

How can this problem be resolved?

Are there settings that can be altered locally on the two laptops or on the router?

Any suggestions gratefully received!!

Ben

A:Having to refresh IE Explorer to access remote sites.

hey, i'm no pro but i'll give you my suggestions. Did you try using the internet without the encryption? Try that and see if it has any change. Also, does this only happen with IE? Do you have internet connection problems with anything else (ex. Messengers, Games, etc.)?

I'm not sure wether you need to port forward for IE...but maybe that might be a reason. You should try using Mozilla Firefox as your browser...it's a lot more secure and safe than IE.

You can download it here:
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/

Don't uninstall IE because you still need IE for certain Windows operations. See if you still have the problem with Firefox.

**Explorer Problem : Renaming only taking effect after refresh (F5)

Hi guys.

Since I'm in a huge hard drive clean up these days, I am often renaming files, using software to batch rename and batch music tagging.

So, the problem is... When I rename a file manually, by right-clicking, rename then rename it, when clicking away, the file goes back to its original name. Pressing F5 (Refresh) shows that the name was really renamed. Sometimes, I even wonder if Windows REALLY renamed my file.

Exemple :

MY FIle.docx

renamed to..

This is my file.docx

but when clicking away, it returns to its formal name :

MY FIle.docx.

Probably that the problem could be solved by an Explorer reboot but it keeps coming back at one point. It's slightly annoying...

Any help on that topic is appreciated
See you later guys.

EDIT

Added Problem Step Recorder recording...

A:Explorer Problem : Renaming only taking after refresh

I have noticed that behavior before, but not just in Explorer. It also happened in PowerDesk (another file manager that I once used). So far, I have not seen that in the last couple of file managers that I have tried (2Explorer & Freecommander), but I haven't done all that much renaming to be sure.

Win file recovery; how does this differ from the native backup and restore and system restore?

Would a system image be a better choice than either of these or do they have their place.

If it does not work put the setting back the way it was.

Click on Start at the lower left
Type the word regedit in the search box and hit enter
Right click HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and click Find
Type dontrefresh in the search box and then hit enter
You will see DontRefresh, right click it to change the settings, set it to 0
Boot your computer. It should be set properly.
Be sure to make a system restore point first, to restore registry if necessary.

I occasionally need to rename a number of files in Vista's Windows Explorer. Typically, these files have similar filenames with minor differences. Vista's Windows Explorer will refresh its list (and reposition the files) for every file renamed. This is very disturbing when I need to keep the files in place so I can see the results of those already renamed along with those to be renamed. When I used Win2K the files would stay in place until I clicked View>Refresh. Is there any way to prevent Vista's Windows Explorer from refreshing the list until I tell it to?

I'm not sure if this is a simply problem or some kind of other problem.

Usually, when you create/rename/delete a file/folder in the directory in Windows Explorer, it will add/renamed/remove automatically without refreshing.

However, I have this issue where if you do any of the above, it doesn't refresh until you press F5. I tried to see if its a driver issue by booting into Safe Mode but it didn't work in there.

I'm not sure if I should do a new format on my machine or if someone has a fix out there.

I'm currently running on Windows 7 Professional x64.

Weird problem, my optical drive file list won't refresh. After removing a disc I've burned and inserting a new disc, file explorer still shows the content of the previous disc before the blank was inserted. Refreshing the folder does no good. I can navigate through the entire folder tree as if the disc is still in the drive, I just can't (of course) access any of the files because they aren't on the blank disc. If I cycle the tray while I have it open in explorer, it will refresh, but nothing short of that works. And it apparently isn't refreshing unless that window is in the forefront too. It's not refreshing when I insert the blank while not simultaneously monitoring the folder. Any suggestions?? I'm kind of new to Win8, but this just seems wrong no matter what version you're accustomed to.

Have tried to find something that would fix this problem (not having it myself), but have run into that thing we call a "Wall." Really not sure what it would take at this point.

Something you might do is to run a Malware program to determine if that could be the problem. Or, go to "System Restore" then go back to point that this problem didn't exist, and restore to that point to see if that will fix the problem (remember if you use System Restore you may have to reinstall some of your apps). Good Luck . . .

Firstly, I do not have iCloud, iPhoto, Aeroglass or Bitdefender, which have been cited by others as culprits for this issue.  The AV is McAfee.
I have updated three other PCs to Windows 10 without incident, including an older Dell Inspiron, but my parents' Dell Inspiron N5040 laptop has been a real headache.  The migration was from Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit to Windows 10 Home via online upgrade.  Prior to the upgrade the laptop had been behaving quite normally.
The outstanding issue is that every few minutes and without warning the Desktop and Task Bar refresh automatically.  If you are in Windows Explorer or the Control Panel when this happens, you are ejected.  If you are in an application, the app loses focus and you lose anything you have just typed.  The laptop is usable, but the problem is very irritating and likely to deter my mother from using it.
Task Manager showed that CPU usage was momentarily spiking at 100% when these refreshes occurred, but didn’t help at the process level, so I downloaded and ran Process Explorer.  This shows that, when these refreshes happen, there are momentary peaks of activity in ShellUI.exe and ShellExperienceHost.exe, the former apparently fractionally ahead of the latter.  I have turned off Cortana and all the other user-adjustable search settings, but it makes no difference.  There appears to be no way to disable these processes.  I do not have the Deskto... A:Desktop & Task Bar refresh every few minutes after Win 10 upgrade - with loss of focus, ejection from Win Explorer or Control panel

Uninstall McAfee and use Windows Defender instead. 3rd party antivirus programs that were running before the upgrade are not compatible with windows 10. AND more important--N5040 and other N computers do not have the right drivers for win 10. That is why Dell doesn't recommend upgrading. Make your life better by reinstalling the previous OS. You have only 30 days to rollback. Your problem is incompatible video drivers and you cannot fix that.

Hi.

In Windows 98/2000, there is an option in the Win Explorer folders called Web View that I like. I have yet to come across that in Windows XP Home, and was wondering if it were actually avaliable.

Usually I have the Cassic Windows Folders on with the View as Web Page, which adds the image to the top left of the Folder and shows details of the file selected.

I would be grateful if someone could help me with this.

People,

In Windows Explorer [whether using the main program . . . or Start Menu Explorer options (e.g., My Documents, My Computer, etc.)], my "Views" always defaults back to "Icons", despite changing to my preferred View repeatedly.

Any way to configure Explorer to display the previously set View?

Thanks in advance,

A:Explorer: Default View?

How are you changing it? Are you going to Tools, Folder Options, View and pressing the Like Current Folder button after setting the view to what you want the default to be?

Windows 8 Explorer (Winkey-E) by default shows the path in an annoying abstract vs. just the path.

How do I stop that.

If you click on the down arrow it will show the regular path (per image on right.) How do I set that as the default?

Thanks.

A:Old Explorer path view - how?

You mean, remove the "BreadCrumbs"? You can do that with Classic Shell, there is a setting for Explorer. Just google Classic Shell and download it, scan it before you install it though, because I found a fake with a virus attached, and it has been floating around previously valid websites. Try to download it from only the developers site, dont get it from cNet or any place like that.

Here, these are the settings you want in Classic Shell Explorer Settings:

Hi Guys,
I wanted to know if it was possible to Enable Windows Explorer Folder View of Rar Folders in Windows ?

Thx.

A:Enable RAR view in Explorer?

You need Winrar to explore .rar files because the files are compressed. Win 7 can only ceate and explore .zip files which is a completely differnent method of file compression.

A:IE8 explorer view not working

this is a known issue. Explorer View does not work with Sharepoint in IE8.

For Windows XP, use IE7 instead.
