Reinstall Calendar w/o a Microsoft account

Q: Reinstall Calendar w/o a Microsoft account

First off, thanks in advance for any help offered.

My new ASUS laptop came with Windows 10, so this is not an upgrade install, but an OEM purchase, and therefore not a pre-release build. My problem is this: I accidentally uninstalled the Mail/Calendar app that comes with Win10, thinking that they were two separate apps. In uninstalling Mail (which I have no use for), the uninstall also took away Calendar (done through a Powershell command).

I understand I can get these back through the App Store, but only if I have a Microsoft Account. I do not want, and do not have, a Microsoft Account. Is there ANY way I can get the Calendar app back on my machine? I do not want to convert my local account to a Microsoft Account. Any suggestions?

You could sign in to the Store only with an MS Account, but you'll have to create an account nevertheless.

I recently created a Microsoft account on my Windows 8.1-running Dell XPS 12 laptop. After I realized that logging in through my new Microsoft account got rid of my calendar, I tried to revert to a local account. I believe I may have accidentally created a new local account with the same name and password as the original account by accident.

Is there anywhere where the calendar information from the original local account would have been saved? It seems to me that since I was not prompted in the process of making a Microsoft account to warn me of losing data from the local account, it should be backed up somewhere. Where could I find it?

Thanks in advance!

Hi installed win 8 sp on Samsung Slate as upgrade to win 7 Enterprise. Was running fine with mail app serving both company Exchange mail and google mail with both calendars updating. Company password changed and Exchange mail stopped syncing. Only way I could see to change password was to reinstall the app and reinstall. On reinstall the app has hung in pending and will not complete. Other apps have installed since. Computer will not refresh fails half way through. Does anyone have any ideas to either reinstall the pending app or reset the download so I can get it to work before I have to resort to a full Samsung recovery? Thanks.

I bought a new laptop and it arrived yesterday. It runs Windows 8.1
I tried to log into my microsoft account, but it kept coming up with the error code 0xd0000072 and said it wasn;t able to switch from my local account to my microsoft account.
After googling it, I tried different options, such as flushing out the proxy even though I don't run on proxy, I disabled McAfee to make sure it wasn't the firewall, I signed into live and removed all trusted devices, I tried downloading the troubleshooter, which
told me my problem was that I didn't have a Microsoft account - super helpful.
Nothing seems to be working.
I then went on to trying to make a new microsoft account, but the error code still came up after all that hassle too.
I eventually called it a night and decided I could probably just get by without it, however, when I tried to download software to install my printer, it wouldn't let me because I cannot seem to log in to my Microsoft account.
Can anyone help?

A:Automatic switch a local account to a Microsoft account or vice versa

Hi

I installed Windows 8.1 Update 1 Enterprise 64-bit.

I created a local account and I changed the name displayed in the Start screen.

Then, by this account, I performed the procedure to switch to a Microsoft account.

I noticed that when, by this Microsoft account, I perform the procedure to switch back to the local account, the name displayed on the logon screen, it is to be returned to the original one (ie, the one of the directory of the local user profile). How come?

So, how do I make sure that, at the end of these procedures, the account name back to being what had been changed by me?

Thanks

My calendar in Windows 10 is constantly alerting me that its settings are out of date for 2 accounts. It requests I submit the password to update, which I do, but it never updates and routinely bleeps to tell me I need to update them. This makes the calendar absolutely useless to me (doesn't sync with anything) and is also very annoying.
Any suggestions on how I can fix this please???

Just thought I'd record on here some strange behaviour I've just had in the Mail and Calendar apps.

By adding in a Calendar appointment with certain text in the Description/Notes, I was able to stop Calendar and Mail working, with an error message that could mislead.

I tried to enter a Calendar appointment with some details of a travel booking. However it didn't seem to be synch-ing to the web version of my account on Outlook.com. The text in the notes was quite long and it seems to be that text which may have been the issue, either the length or something in the content.

Worse than that, if I tried to synch Mail, it just says '<my email address> is unavailable'

I also tried to enter the same appointment online using Outlook.com and it gave me an error:
"Server Validation Error
Calendar wasn't able to complete this request."

Again it seemed to be the text in the appointment that it didn't like.

It does seem that this rogue Calendar appointment was stopping the synch, and also stopping Mail from getting through, with an error that suggested my account was unavailable when it was this one Calendar appointment, not the account which was the problem.

Deleting the Calendar appointment meant that Mail started working again.

Curiously I did eventually succeed, by entering another Calendar appointment on Outlook.com at a different time and gradually pasting in more and more of the notes, bit by bit, and then moving it to the correct time.

Hello.

Since I bought this computer, I've had issues. I started by creating a user with my personal email address, but then thought I wanted it for work so I deleted the Microsoft account associated with that email and created another with my work email. However, I've noticed that some of the apps aren't working correctly and needed to use my personal email again. For awhile, Microsoft accounts wouldn't allow deleted accounts from coming back but it appears it's working now.
So, now I have a Microsoft account with my personal email address but the primary user on my PC is still associated with the work Microsoft account. I can't find a way to change this and it's causing problems since that email doesn't exist anymore. Is there any way to change the Microsoft account that's associated with a single user?
The only other thing I could think of would be to create a new user, promote to admin, and swap everything over manually before completely removing the user associated with my old work email. I tried this, but when attempting to log into the new user it says "cannot login, please visit accounts.live.com to fix the issue". However, whenever I go there and log into the new users account, there's no instruction on what to do or any indication that there's something wrong.
So, I need to be able to do one of two things:
1) Switch the Microsoft account associated with the primary user on this PC or,
2) Find out how to log into the new user's account without any i... Read more

I am a system administrator in a large enterprise environment and we are doing a rollout of Windows 8.1. In our image capture we somehow captured a setting that is disabling users from setting up a connected account with their domain account. I am relatively sure that it is in my unattend and I can fix it for machines going forward but I really don't want to have to reimage the machines I've already deployed.

When I go to connect an account, the "connect to a Microsoft account" option is grayed out and the "some settings are managed by your administrator" message is displayed at the top. This is NOT a group policy object that is applying. The machines are in a test OU and there is absolutely no policy applied. I have searched all through local policy and even did a search through the registry for "account" (that took forever) but have been unable to find any registry key or local policy that would be causing this issue.

Does anyone have any idea what setting might be causing this?
Any help is greatly appreciated as I have 30+ machines already out in the environment and the user experience is going to be terrible if I have to reimage them all.

A:Unable to connect microsoft account to domain account

This is a copy from a technet forums...I haven't seen this issue myself...but it may point you in the right direction.

There is a policy for this:
It's Administrative Templates\Windows Components\App Runtime > Allow Microsoft Accounts to be optional
In 2012, 2012 R2 there is an option in CompConfig\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options that reads "Accounts: Block Microsoft accounts"
If you don't have 2012 or 2012R2 then you can RSAT from a Windows 8 box and change the settings that way

Hi,

Apologies in advance if this is not the right area. I was directed here by a Support Engineer in the

Microsoft Community forum. If this is not the right place, please let me know the best place to post this question.

The question presented on domain PCs after clicking 'Settings  > Change PC Settings > Accounts > Connect to a Microsoft account' is:

Which PC settings from your Microsoft account do you want to sync with your domain account?

The options are:

Start Screen
Appearance
Desktop personalization
Apps (list of apps you've installed)
Passwords (apps, websites, and networks)
App Data
Language Preferences
Ease of Access
Other Windows Settings
Web browser (open tabs, history, and favorites)

What I'm looking for is more information about all these options. For example, what is synced with a domain account when the 'App Data' or 'Other Windows Settings' boxes are checked? Those are very vague descriptions, and I'm trying to figure out
what exactly is synced when these options are selected.

Thanks!

A:Automatic switch a local account to a Microsoft account or

Hello Balubeto,

Sorry, but no.

If I may ask, why do you need to switch your user account on the PC back and forth between being a local and Microsoft account?

A Microsoft account can do everything that a local account can.

If you really need to have or use both accounts, then you might consider have two user accounts on the PC. One your Microsoft account, and the other a local account. This way you could just switch between signing in to your user accounts instead.

We have a new laptop Dell - running Windows XP Home. On our old computer - Windows 98, when we put something in the Microsoft calendar you could just type in on the particular day your appointment. Now on XP - when you type in an appointment - it puts in a "time" like 7:00. We don't want that so I went into "Options" and tried to find someway to fix that so it won't list a time period. Can anyone help me? I certainly would appreciate it.

I like the security and convenience of having an account with administrative privileges, which I only use for installing and changing critical settings and an account which I use for all other purposes, which does not have administrative privileges.

I would like to abandon Chrome, which allows me to synchronize my bookmarks and all other settings across all users in my Windows 10 boot and even in my logon to Windows 7 in the multi-boot of my desktop computer. Every single change I make in one Chrome browser instantly appears when I open the Chrome browser of any other logon. This is working perfectly across both of my Win 10 users and both of my Win 7 users of my multi-boot desktop.

I would like to be able to switch to MS Edge as my browser and have the same synchronization across both of my Windows 10 logons as I presently have with Chrome but this feature is not available in Edge unless both of my Windows 10 logons (that are on the same installation of Windows 10) are Microsoft User accounts. But Windows 10 won't allow me to have two logons with the same Microsoft account. It has only allowed me to have one of those accounts be a Microsoft account and the other a Local account.

Are any of the following (or anything else you know about) possible in order to get synchronization:

A:Can I have two Microsoft Account Users with the same Microsoft account

I don't think you can have two user accounts on the same computer attached to the same Microsoft account because which one would get logged in at the login screen when you entered the Microsoft account credentials?

What I would do is create a local user account with the administrator privileges and not attach that to a Microsoft account. Then I would create my user account with only standard user privileges and attach that one to my Microsoft account. Whenever administrator privileges are needed to do something, Windows 10 should ask you to just select the account with administrator privileges, enter the password, and then you could complete the action requiring elevated privileges.

Under no circumstances would I use the hidden built in administrator account to do anything unless I had to in safe mode as a last resort.

Cannot obtain correct printing from Microsoft Works Calendar.

The Microsoft site says this is common with Internet Exp.5.5-

I am using 6.0 and still have the same problem.

The calendar pages come out printed on 2 pages rather than

one page. The columns are elongated causing this to happen.

Have checked the printer with other programs and the printing

is correct.

This should do it.
Open the calender, from the file menu select "export > HTML". Remember where you saved it to. Close the calender and go to the file you exported and double click it. It should open in Internet Explorer. Now select print from the file menu.

Boy it would be nice to use the calendar app with with my google calendar or even be able to tie it to my exchange calender here at work.

Just some random thoughts. Sorry if the subject has been touched on before.

A:Microsoft needs to open up the calendar app

Same with the people app (though /some/ of that is promised).

Unfortunately, companies being companies, they only cooperate sparingly and over all, complete interaction between all major internet "cloud" service providers it not something that's going to happen in any large way.

But your right, My cloud storage app, email app, people app, calendar app etc should all be cross platform and cross service. Picking the best one in each location but access to the sum total of all my data no matter where it's stored.

Usually you need to look at third party developers for that (i.e. trillian etc) but even then service and features are always spotty/incomplete , largely due to the service providers needing you to be using /thier/ clients which support /their/ ads.

Hi,

Although I don't use this software, that does seem a bit strange. You don't even see anything going to the print que? How is your printer setup? Does it send data straight to the que? You should be able to find out if you go to your printer, right click and go to Properties.

I would also double check all your drivers, and possibly reinstall them. (Is this by any chance an HP?)

Hi,

The error ?sorry we could not connect to Microsoft services right now. If this problem persists ,search for network problems on the start screen " occurs
because of an issue with Microsoft account or

1.Corrupt Microsoft Account settings

2.Can?t connect to the sync service

3.Problems with Microsoft account Policy

4.Microsoft Account required

5.Connection issues due to proxy or certificate issues

I suggest to download and run the Microsoft account troubleshooter to fix this issuse:

I realize this isn't a crucial question ... but I have Windows 98SE and after the end of 2004 the holidays and other notations ... like "Daylight Savings Time Begins", "Father's Day", etc. ... ceased to appear on the calendar.

Am I "on my own" at this point? Any way to have these dates appear other than manually inputing the dates and events? There are increasingly fewer and fewer businesses that distribute calendars to customers these days.

Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

I've got a client who is using microsoft works 8.0 calendar and recently had to replace his hard drive and reinstall his operating system. The problem we're having is that all of his calendar data is stored as a .wcd file and the calendar will only import icalendar files and vcalendar files .ics and .vcs. Is there anyway to convert the data file from .wcd to .ics or is there a way to get the calendar to read a .wcd file? He is using Windows XP, service pack 2. All of my searching on Google lead me nowhere. Microsoft's website was no help either. If a .wcd file is from an older version of Works calendar, where can you get that version of works? Any help on the matter will be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I'm in the correct forum now.

I recently downloaded malwarebytes anti-malware program. The instructions were good and it worked fine. But, now I can't access my calendar for reminders. I get a generic error message saying "Microsoft Works 8 has encountered a problem and must close."
It does not say what problem.
I am not using Microsoft Works 8, nor have I downloaded or installed it, ever.
I'm using Microsoft Works 2003 which came pre-installed on my computer when I bought it.
I never upgraded.
None of the items in the list of malware found said anything about microsoft calendar.
I've tried rolling back to a date before I used the anti-malware program but it had no effect.
My calendar data seems to be there, and it was backed up, the program just won't run.
The only other thing I use from M. works is a spreadsheet which still opens fine.

I can't find any way to make the calendar run.
I hope someone has some ideas.
Thanks.

Is there any other place I should be looking ?

Hi,

It has been decided that my computer is free from malware, so I've been referred to this forum.

I recently downloaded malwarebytes anti-malware program. The instructions were good and it worked fine. But, now I can't access my calendar for reminders. I get a generic error message saying "Microsoft Works 8 has encountered a problem and must close."
It does not say what problem.

I have a Works 8 installation disk, but I think if I just reinstall Works, I'll lose all the notes on my calendar.

The only other thing I use from Works is a simple database which is working fine. Only the calendar reminder feature won't run. If I reinstall Works I could lose all the info on my database and I don't feel like re-entering over 1000 files.

I have the database backed up and it looks like I 'should' be able to run the backup file if the original gets wiped.
However, although I have backed up all the files in Works calendar folder, I don't know which one(s) hold the reminder info. I've tried replacing existing files with the backups, but they don't run so it looks like the problem is not with the calendar data files themselves, but something more basic to Works 8.

I recently found that if I right click on WksCal.exe and choose "Run as..." and use "administrator ", I get a different error message. This one simply says that Works could not find some needed files and suggests that they may have been moved or eras... Read more

How can I check which reminder is from which Calendar list?

Somehow, Microsoft Outlook 2010 is using 2 of the 8 Calendars to show the same reminders.

I have since unticked the 2nd Calendar which I don't need, however the reminders from the 2nd Calendar still appear.

I need to Dismiss the 2nd Calendar's reminders, however I'm not sure if I'm Dismissing the 1st or 2nd Calendar's reminders?

Thanks if anyone can help on this mystery.

Restoring Microsoft works 7 Doesn't populate the data that was in my calendar. I tried to restore selected items from C:/program files/common files, and the files from Microsoft shared with no luck. My computer prior to the restore was a real mess, so I do not want to restore a lot of corrupt files. Does anyone know where the data is stored?

Hello,

We are running all our computers here on Win2k with all the latest updates. We run Office 2000. After upgrading a few systems to Visio 2003, we noticed that the calendar wizard (and other wizards) stopped functioning. If I try to create a document from a wizard or open the visual basic editor, I get two errors.

VB6EXT.OLB Could not be Loaded.

followed by

Unexpected error 50001
I searched for this error and found that it is just a general VB error.

It seems to work fine however if we give the user administrative rights on their local machine, but of course this is not a long term solution as we do not want everyone to have admin on their machine.

I searched around on google and haven't found anything that would help. I think the issue lies in upgrading the systems to visio 2003, but I have a couple machines that upgraded no problem and it works fine.

I tried doing a detect and repair and a reinstall of both office 2000 and visio on the affected machines and they have yielded no results.
Any help at this point would be greatly appricated.

Sync Window Live Mail client & Ipad/iphone calendar

I have been asked to setup a calendar synchronisation between a Windows Livemail client, and iphone and ipad

They are already using WLM client on PC connected to thier own domain for email, which has NO calendar sync possible , so i cannot change the client software

So i decided the easiest thing was to create a live mail account (outlook.com) and use that to sync all the calendars

Outlook.com account (set up specially for this sync) and synced from the windows live mail client to the outlook.com calendar and that all worked very well
WLM Client to ipad and iphone all worked

i do however have an issue

I setup the ipad and iphone using the hotmail option - I possibly should have chosen the exchange option

The issue an event created on the ipad or iphone calendar event is not synced back to the outlook.com / WLM calendar ,but they do sync with each other all OK

WLM ==> oulook.com === > ipad ==> iphone
all work that way

ipad ==> iphone OR iphone ==> ipad
all work ok

iphone/ipad created event == Does NOT update ==> wlm/outlook.com

if i setup an event in the WLM calendar, which syncs to all devices, I can then delete the event via the ipad or iphone - it is deleted from the WLM/outlook.com calendars - so the ipad/iphone is talking back to the outlook.com calendar for a delete action.

so what does not work is just that

an event created on ipad or iphone does not sync back to the WLM clie... Read more

i have solved the issue , and a really silly issue
I played today at my mother-in-law who has an ipad

and it all comes down to not selecting the correct calendar - i had not noticed birthdays was also selected
so i changed the new account to a Exchange account setting , and also notice i need to enter the info incorrectly first to then get prompted to enter the m.hotmail.com information

set the account up for just calendar
Set the calendar as default

and al works

just means she will only have 1 calendar , if she wants to sync between all devices

I suspect that I am not able to do what I would like to but will ask the questions just in case...
I use the Ms calendar on my Lumia 920 which in turn updates the online version at the Ms Live website as well as the Windows Live calendar accessed via my email client.
All good so far.
Problems started when I gave the wife access to my calendar but she keeps forgetting to check it before making appointments for us (which conflict with important things like my golf).
I thought there was a way of having the calendar create an automatic email whenever I added a new event and have that email sent to the wife to alert her to my latest meeting/tee time.
Checked all places where I would have expected to find an option to make the wife a recipient of alert emails but have failed. Seems I can send an update/new event alert to myself but to nobody else.
Can somebody confirm that to be the case. (If I have selected the wrong category for this posting then apologies.)
Thanks in advance.

A:How do I send alerts when new events are add to my Microsoft Live Calendar?

What if you add your wife in the entry you make in your agenda ("add someone" required or better optional) in that case she will get an e-mail (to except) and this entry will also be in your wives calendar.
Not sure if this is the right category but I also do not know which category should fit better.:)

It is better to keep in touch with Microsoft Account support team to investigate it . If Microsoft was really wanted to hack into your system, they were smart enough not do it directly from their office. It is possible someone used IP Spoofing, which means

I recently downloaded Microsoft 8.1 from 8.0.  Since then I have had several issues.  I have worked many of them out.  I needed to install the Kindle app in metro.  It wanted me to put in my local user password, I did.  Then it wanted me to log into my Microsoft account, with password, I did.  Then it wanted a code number.  I put that in.  Then it wanted to put all my documents, pictures, and settings into the cloud. That was something I was unsure whether to do or not.  If I agree to that, it then wants to switch me from my local user account, to my Microsoft account.  I don't want to do that.  Why can't I just keep my local user account?  If I do allow this to happen, I will automatically go to Metro won't I?  I don't want to start in Metro.  I want to start in the desktop, which is where I spend most of my time.  I also read this somewhere, and you had to be on the internet and logged in Microsoft to use your computer.  Is this right?  If it is, I surely do NOT want to do that.  I wish I had stayed with 8.0.  It worked fine there.  Now it has become a royal pain in the rear.

A:why does Microsoft want me to switch in metro to Microsoft account?

Nothing will change in your personal account, when you sign in as a microsoft account.  It will backup your profile, so if you end up buying a new machine, or having to reinstall Windows 8.x, everything will come back up on your computer as it was (desktop picture, user picture).  As for Metro, you do not need to use Metro, to run the Kindle App.

The best thing is to not use Metro, use the desktop, and load the desktop version of the Kindle app instead.  The only person making this a royal pita, is you, not Microsoft.

A:Local Account/microsoft account

Hi there Needlenoses and welcome to Eight Forums!

If I understand your question correctly you want to know the difference between a local account and a 'Microsoft account'.

Well... first of all. You will need you Microsoft account to sign in at the App store before you can download any apps. This however does not mean that you must use the Microsoft account to sign in at your computer. You can still do that with a local account.
When signing in with a local account all the information is stored locally on your pc. Just as in the 'old' days. When signing in with a Microsoft Account some information is being stored in the cloud. That way, when you logon onto another Windows 8 device, you get the same experience everywhere. That is the main difference between the two ways to sign in.

I.e. I use the Microsoft account to sign in. So weather or not I am using my Surface or my Desktop....I have the same settings on both devices automaticaly. As well as the same Start etc. I like that :-).

These two tutorials should provide some more interesting information:

If you set up a local account they want your ms info to allow you into the store, it will not change the local account. They set you up originally so all your computers link up to cloud info and their store but it is not required. Yet. :-)

Hi I've loaded and play Microsoft Solitaire through Xbox games but for some reason the icon has now disappeared from Metro So I downloaded mahjong which plays no problem but I can now access the xbox games section to see the games I have played and my achievements etc and MS Solitaire is there and I can click on the game which then starts to load but when it get to the options screen it crashes and goes back to the Metro screen. So I should think something is corrupted. So my question is this how do I uninstall solitaire to reinstall it when I haven't got an icon to click on?

A:Microsoft Solitaire won't run any more. how do I reinstall it?

right click on an empty spot on your start screen and go to all apps. if it's not on your all apps screen, you probably already deleted it. if you find the tile, you can right-click it and then choose the uninstall.

I just recently had to restore my pc..now I am trying to reinstall microsoft word, and it is asking for a 25-character product key that can be found on my certificate of authenticity.....I do not think I have it..they said it can be found on the cd case, but the cd came with the computer in a paper sleeve. I do not have that sleeve. What can I do to install this cd??

If the software originally came preinstalled on your PC there might be a sticker on the case somewhere with the registration code. (At least that's how I've seen Dell do it as well as some others.)

Failing that you may have to call Microsoft.

In the last few weeks I have been using Microsoft Works Calendar without any problems.  Last night when I attempted to add more information to the calendar I got a Yellow Triangle with a !   The notice says "Works cannot access 1 or more files, it needs to run the Calendar.   The files may have been renamed, deleted or moved."  Try reinstalling Works, and then starting the program again.   I bought the computer new.  It is a Compaq HP with Windows XP.  How do I reinstall Microsoft Works when it was already loaded in the computer & I have no program disc that came with it?  I am computer literate in getting around the computer but NOT in the upkeep of it or the problem solving - like I'm faced with now.  I would greatly appreciate your help.  Thanks in advance for your time & assistance.

Try the Recovery Manager in the Programs menu.

Ok, I have a computer that at one time must have had the .net framework installed, but for some reason no longer does. I am trying to install 1.1 which is needed for another software program to run correctly.

I have the dotnetfx.exe file and when I run the program it goes through the installation process, until Registering SystemEnterprise.Services.dll. Then the computer just hangs - no error message, no alt-ctrl-del, nada.

I have tried everything I know, plus everything I can find on the microsoft support site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824643/?FR=1. The only steps that I cannot do or have questions about are
#3 - there's a registry key for.NETframework, but not either of those specified.
#4 - I can't figure out a quick way to download the msizap.exe utility

Any help and suggestions would be more than welcome!

help me to reinstall microsoft money 2004 When we got our pc it came bundled with money 2004 which we never used (we never even clicked on the shortcut to begin it) but today i decided to start using it and it asked if i wanted to use my passport or our own password. without thinking it through properly i clicked on use passport and then after decided that we didn't need any online features so now i wanted to change it so that it would just be a normal password,
but i couldn't find a way to take it back and change so i just uninstalled it thinking that there would be an installer somewhere and i could just reinstall it. i found an installer in C:/bundle/money
but when i click it, it tells me to use SETUP.EXE not Money.msi i done a search for setup.exe and got 15 different ones and not one of them was for Money, the only other program in the /bundle folder was one for microsoft works which we also got with our pc and that had a setup.exe so why not Money.
now i want to reinstall it but can't, also our pc came with an annoying restore disk made with norton ghost that has everything on it the only problem is i can't get individual programs or files out of it so the only way to get anything out of the cd is to put my pc back to the way it supposedly came out of the factory.. please help, sorry this is so long, i find it difficult to make things nice and simple.
